The Tkon script

The Tkon Empire was a massive empire and space federation that existed over six hundred thousand years ago . The empire was ruled from a unnamed throne world in sector 9 of the Milky Way Galaxy .

The Empire had a population of trillions and was highly advanced technologically. The Tkon had the ability to move entire stars , using planets as outposts for defense. They employed guardians known as portals to defend these outposts and to act as gatekeepers for those seeking entry to the Empire.

Historical eras for this civilization were described as Ages measured by the Tkon using galactic motionary startime charts. The latter Ages of the Tkon Empire were Bastu , Cimi , Xora , and Makto . It was during the Age of Makto when the central star of their home system destabilized and went supernova , ending the Empire.

At least one of their guardians, Portal 63 , survived and was encountered by the Federation starship USS Enterprise -D on a planet in the Delphi Ardu system in 2364 . This occasion was the first instance of Federation contact with the extinct Tkon.

Beyond some information regarding planets in the Empire and an understanding of their script and some of their history, little was known about the Tkon by the Federation. Even a student of archaeology such as Jean-Luc Picard had not heard of the Tkon before 2364. ( TNG : " The Last Outpost "; DIS : " Terra Firma, Part 2 ")

The writers of the episode " To the Death " mistakenly referred to the Iconians as the Tkon, causing the art department to design and produce sets based on graphics seen in "The Last Outpost". The error was discovered not long before shooting took place and corrected. ( Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Companion  (pp. 348-349))

Apocrypha [ ]

In the Star Trek: The Next Generation - Q Continuum novels , Q reveals the history of the Tkon Empire's final days to Captain Picard while explaining Q's history with the malevolent entity 0 . After Q allowed 0 and his allies access to this universe , he selected the Tkon Empire as a lesser species for 0 and his allies to 'test', regarding them as advanced enough to be interesting while (from the perspective of beings like 0) content to let their development plateau at this point without a suitable shove. As a result of 0's associates, the Tkon Empire was provoked into civil war between the central Tkon homeworld and its outer colonies over the costs of the "Great Endeavor", a plan to save their homeworld from its dying sun. Despite fifty years of conflict, the Tkon Empire not only survives but completes the Great Endeavor on schedule, intending to use an elaborate transporter array to teleport their sun completely out of their solar system and simultaneously replace it with a new, fresh one before their system could suffer from its loss. However, 0 triggers the collapse of their sun ahead of schedule in a fit of pique at the Tkon "winning" his "game", the elder Q noting to Picard that he at least adheres to his rules in his tests of Picard whereas 0 changed the rules the moment he was about to lose. The destruction of the Tkon Empire resulted in 0's banishment from the galaxy by the Q Continuum , as well as the creation of the galactic barrier to prevent him ever returning. Q notes to Picard that the transporter array the Tkon were going to use to move their new star into position still exists in the present, recommending that Picard salvage it once he returns to his own time before someone else does.

Star trek reveals the mind-blowing origin of its 'conspiracy' parasites (they're not just aliens).

At long last, Star Trek has revealed the mind-blowing secret origin of one of it biggest loose ends: the parasite aliens from "Conspiracy."

  • The "Conspiracy" aliens, from another dimension, threaten the Star Trek universe with their terrifying agenda and overwhelming numbers.
  • Spock's mind meld backfires as the crew of the Defiant battles to free infected crew members from alien parasites.
  • Star Trek: Defiant #14 reveals the origin and menace of the "Conspiracy" aliens, connected to a long-standing franchise plot line.

Warning: contains spoilers for Star Trek: Defiant #14!

The “Conspiracy” aliens have returned to the Star Trek franchise, and for the first time, their mind-blowing origin has been revealed. Worf and the crew of the Defiant are waging a valiant stand against the parasitic aliens on a remote Starbase. As they fight off the creatures in issue 14, Mister Spock makes a shocking discovery about where the aliens come from–and their agenda.

Star Trek: Defiant #14 is written by Christopher Cantwell and drawn by Angel Unzueta. B’Elanna Torres has been taken over by one of the parasites, and the crew of the Defiant is trying to free her from its clutches. Spock hits on an idea: use a mind meld to disrupt the parasites. The others protest, but Spock presses on. His mind meld backfires, and does not free B’Elanna. Instead, Spock learns the creatures are not from another planet, or another galaxy. Instead, they come from another dimension.

Furthermore, they have an enormous queen that towers over Spock.

The "Conspiracy" Aliens Nearly Did What the Klingons and the Romulans Have Failed to Do

These terrifying aliens are an existental threat to the star trek universe.

“Conspiracy” was the finale to the first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation , and it would go on to become one of the Star Trek’s franchise's biggest dangling plot lines. For over 30 years, fans have clamored for the aliens to return, and for the show to explore their origins. The parasitic creatures attempt a takeover of Starfleet, but are thwarted by the crew of the Enterprise . Many years later, the aliens have returned, taking over Starbase 99 and infecting its crew. Previous issues teased the true nature of the parasites, and now it has been confirmed.

Star Trek: Defiant’s current storyline, “Hell is Only a Word,” has already positioned the “Conspiracy” aliens as terrifying entities. A text piece in a previous issue revealed the horrifying physical changes that can come over a host, particularly if they are infected with a queen. Furthermore, Defiant has drawn parallels between the parasites and the Borg , particularly in terms of social structure. The aliens have an agenda, one of conquest and subjugation. Their ability to infect a host and function discreetly is one of their greatest advantages. They used this effectively in “Conspiracy.”

Star Trek vs Alien Crossover Was Meant to Give Picard His Ultimate Challenge

The "conspiracy" aliens are legion--can the federation hope to stop them, the parasites could easily overrun the federation--and the galaxy.

Now the secret of the “Conspiracy” parasites is revealed: they are invaders from another dimension . Spock had a vision of this dimension, and it was overrun with parasites. Their numbers are great, and would easily overwhelm and infect any type of resistance. There may be enough parasites to infect everyone in the Federation and beyond. Finally, the parasite’s queen, standing several stories tall, is a horrific and disgusting sight. Worf and the crew of the Defiant are outnumbered, so they must find a way to close the gate, lest the “Conspiracy” aliens return to menace the Star Trek universe.

Giving love a bad name?

Jon Bon Jovi admitted that he indulged in the rock star lifestyle a little too much during his iconic band’s early days in the 1980s.

The rocker, who also admitted he’s no saint when it comes to his 35-year marriage, said life was “pretty good” for him when Bon Jovi skyrocketed to global stardom.

“I got away with murder,” the “Livin’ on a Prayer” hit maker told Michael Strahan in their hourlong interview special, “Halfway There,” on ABC. “I’m a rock ‘n’ roll star, I’m not a saint. You know, I’m not saying that there weren’t 100 girls in my life — I’m Jon Bon Jovi. It was pretty good.”

“But if you think I was ever going to jeopardize my — anything for believing the narcissist in me was real? What a stupid thing to do. What kind of excesses does a man need that’s going to fuel that fire? It’s just not worth it,” the 62-year-old insisted.

The band released their first album in 1984. At the time, the rocker was already dating his now-wife, Dorothea Hurley.

By the time the pair tied the knot at the Graceland Chapel in Las Vegas in 1989, Bon Jovi was a well-established “sex symbol.”

“There is no doubt in my mind that this world revolves because of her,” he told Strahan of his wife. “Because of what she did to keep the kids right, what she does to keep me right, what we do together to keep it right. No doubt about it.”

“She’s certainly not afraid to call me out on something, but she’s also there when I fall.”

“And I’m there for her when she falls. No matter where I went in my career, the ups or the downs, we went there together,” he added.

Bon Jovi, who has four kids with Hurley, says “growing together is integral” in a marriage, adding that his high school sweetheart wife “came from nothing, same hometown, same high school, same group of peripheral friends.”

Last week, the rocker lifted the lid on his decadeslong union, admitting that he hasn’t always “been a saint”  throughout their marriage.

The “You Give Love a Bad Name” hit maker and his wife are gearing up to celebrate their 35th anniversary next week, but the rocker admitted that they wouldn’t have reached the milestone had it not been for his wife’s “tolerance.”

Star Trek: Enterprise – What Happened To T'Pol?

T'Pol played one of the most important roles in Star Trek: Enterprise. So, what became of her after the mission was over?

  • T'Pol overcame obstacles as a Vulcan agent and rose to become a key figure in Starfleet history.
  • Despite oversexualization, T'Pol showcased powerful moments and saved the day on multiple occasions.
  • T'Pol's legacy in Star Trek: Enterprise challenges stereotypes and highlights her importance in the founding of the Federation.

T’Pol (Jolene Blalock) forged an unforgettable path through Star Trek despite the obstacles that often stood in her way as a member of the U.S.S. Enterprise. She was an agent of the Vulcan Ministry of Security. One of her first missions ended in her murdering a fellow agent who’d gone rogue. Remember that episode of The Original Series where Spock tampered with Captain Kirk’s memories? It turns out that his actions might not have been as strange as some thought at the time. Enterprise explained this ability when T’Pol went through the Fullara ceremony to forget her actions on the field.

She later spent some time working as a Vulcan ambassador with the United Earth government. Throughout her turbulent past, T’Pol accomplished a lot before she ever set foot on the Starfleet starship NX-01. She may have fallen victim at times to the show’s dated sexism. But not even Rick Berman could dim her shine, nor the impact she had on the story unfolding around her. It eventually led to T'Pol working as the right-hand woman of Captain Archer (Scott Bakula). This in turn led to her becoming one of the most important figures in Starfleet history.

5 Underrated Star Trek: Enterprise Episodes

T'pol's life on the u.s.s. enterprise.

T’Pol’s early work as an agent of the Vulcan Ministry of Security prepared her for the dangers she would face on Star Trek . Her unlikely allegiance with the Klingons, for example, came in handy in season 2, episode 19, “Judgment.” In the episode, T’Pol used her connections to help Captain Archer beat a conspiracy charge on the Klingon homeworld Qo’NoS. It’s one of the few times in Starfleet history that Vulcans and Klingons have willingly come together in harmony.

However, no amount of experience could have prepared T’Pol for the wacky drama she would encounter as an officer. One example is when fellow Vulcan Tolaris (Enrique Murciano) forced a mind-meld on T’Pol that left her with Pa’nar Syndrome in season 1, episode 17, “Fusion.” She lived with this neural disease and all its uncomfortable symptoms until the iconic Vulcan leader T’Pau (Kara Zediker) cured her in season 4, episode 9, “Kir’Shara.”

Enterprise tended to oversexualize T’Pol at times. From skimpy outfits to wardrobe malfunctions, the show often presented her body first and brain second. Still, she had some powerful moments throughout the show. She even got to save the day in season 4, episode 17, “Bound” after Orions took over the ship.

T’Pol’s Relationships in Star Trek: Enterprise

Like Voyager ’s Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan), T’Pol was an attractive woman on a Starfleet crew of mostly male officers. Naturally, the showrunners felt it necessary to pair her with almost all of them. She even put the moves on Phlox (John Billingsley) in season 2, episode 25, “Bounty” after a strange microbe triggered her Vulcan sex drive.

Her relationships with Captain Archer and Trip Tucker (Connor Trinneer), however, remain her most important love affairs. Many argue that her relationship with Trip came out of nowhere. It started with sensual massages, was filled with non-Vulcan levels of passion, and ended with stolen DNA and self-sacrifice. Much like on Star Trek: Voyager , T’Pol and Archer brought Janeway-and-Chakotay levels of longing to the show. The two were obviously devoted to each other, but they never fully jumped from enemies to lovers. Instead, they lingered in each other’s orbit as unusually intense friends.

Romance aside, T’Pol also had a closeness to and respect for the women in her family. One of her most prized possessions was a purse previously owned by her great-grandmother, T’Mir (Blalock). This level of sentimentality was uncommon among Vulcans. But, then again, T’Pol always did have a hidden talent for defying expectations.

T’Pol’s Star Trek Legacy

T’Pol certainly wasn’t the first Star Trek character who was put into a skintight Starfleet uniform and used to titillate the interest of fans. Even with the signature Vulcan bowl cut, she was easy on the eyes in a way that executives probably assumed would bring in more viewers. Yet, T’Pol’s legacy in Star Trek: Enterprise isn’t limited to what she offered aesthetically. Chronologically speaking, she was the first Vulcan to serve on a Starfleet crew of Humans, and she endured the early days of galactic bigotry with poise and grace.

Her early interactions with the Enterprise crew were rife with the same challenges faced by Spock in The Original Series . She, too, faced distrust and hostility about the different ways she spoke, thought, behaved, and even ate her food. This didn’t stop her from using her variety of skills to help the crew survive some of the weirdest situations. She was, after all, the only one able to keep her cool when the rest of the crew became infected by behavior-altering pollen (a Star Trek classic) in season 1, episode 4, “Strange New World.”

The Founding of the Federation

T’Pol was a controversial character in a divisive show. She showed more emotion than Star Trek fans expected, and got a little more spicy than the censors deemed appropriate. Of all the Vulcan characters introduced throughout the franchise, she didn’t fit the mold set by others, like Tuvok (Tim Russ) from Voyager or Saavik (Kirstie Alley) from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan . But she stood out for the richness and variety of her storylines – even the ones made to get her out of her clothes. It’s easy to forget how important she was and still is to Star Trek lore.

T'Pol was there when Earth celebrated the birth of the United Federation of Planets. She and the other Enterprise crew members gathered together for the Founding Federation Ceremony. After T’Pol’s service as a Starfleet commander ended, it’s unclear whether she’s still alive. While this leaves her story feeling unfinished, it also leaves room for her possible return. At one point, Trip described T’Pol as someone who “kind of [grows] on you.” Since she remains a topic of conversation and controversy among Star Trek fans to this day, one can only assume he was right on the money.

Original ‘Star Trek’ Enterprise Model Resurfaces Decades After It Went Missing

The model used in the original series’ opening credits is now back with Eugene Roddenberry Jr., the son of the show’s creator

Julia Binswanger

Julia Binswanger

Daily Correspondent

First ever model

Nearly 50 years after it went missing, the original model of the  USS Starship Enterprise from the hit show “ Star Trek ” is finally voyaging home. The 33-inch model—the same one that appears in the opening credits of the original series—is now back with Eugene Roddenberry Jr., the son of the show’s creator.

“After five decades, I’m thrilled that someone happened upon this historic model of the USS Enterprise ,” says Roddenberry, who goes by “Rod,” in a Heritage Auctions statement . “I remember how it used to adorn my dad’s desk.”

The tiny model has been missing since Roddenberry’s father, Gene Roddenberry (who died in 1991), lent it to the makers of 1979’s  Star Trek: The Motion Picture , the first Star Trek feature film. Unfortunately, he never got it back. What happened to it at that point is unknown.

close up of the Enterprise

Last fall, the spaceship popped up on  eBay —with a starting bid of $1,000. The listing was titled “Rare Custom Star Trek USS Enterprise Spaceship by Richard Datin .” Datin, a model maker from the Howard Anderson special-effects company, built the original model out of solid wood. The  New York Times ’ Emily Schmall reports that the seller came across the item after discovering it in a storage unit. After receiving many inquiries about the item, the seller contacted Heritage Auctions.

“Once our team of experts concluded it was the real thing, we contacted Rod because we wanted to get the model back to where it belonged,” says Joe Maddalena, executive vice president at Heritage Auctions, in the statement. “We’re thrilled the Enterprise is finally in dry dock.”

The ship’s whereabouts after its disappearance remain a mystery; unfortunately, the missing years aren’t described in a captain’s log. The younger Roddenberry says there had even been rumors that he’d thrown it into a pool as a boy, per Jamie Stengle of the Associated Press (AP).

While the model would “easily” sell for over $1 million at auction, it’s a “priceless” piece of television history, Maddalena tells the AP.

Since Star Trek ’s debut in 1966, the Enterprise has become an instantly recognizable image—and a pioneering design that inspired many other fictional spacecraft.

“We didn’t want the Enterprise to look like something currently planned for our space program,” said Walter Jefferies, the Star Trek art director who designed the fictional craft, in the 1968 book The Making of Star Trek , per the auction house. “We knew that by the time the show got on the air, this type of thing would be old hat. We had to go further than even the most advanced space scientists were thinking.”

Ariel view of the Enterprise Model

The younger Roddenberry rounded up a group of Star Trek production veterans to help authenticate and restore the model. One of them was Gary Kerr, a “Trek x-pert” who worked on the 2016 restoration of an 11-foot model of the Enterprise for the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum . Kerr still had old photos of the model sitting on the elder Roddenberry’s desk.

“We spent at least an hour photographing it, inspecting the paint, inspecting the dirt, looking under the base, the patina on the stem, the grain in the wood,” Roddenberry tells the Times . “It was a unanimous ‘This is 100 percent the one.’”

While other models of the Enterprise exist, the newly discovered ship is the original. Looking ahead, Roddenberry wants to ensure that this one-of-a-kind artifact is accessible to the public.

“This is not going home to adorn my shelves,” he tells the AP. “This is going to get restored and we’re working on ways to get it out so the public can see it, and my hope is that it will land in a museum somewhere.”

John And Bjo Trimble Launch A Campaign

How, though, did John Trimble save Star Trek? First off, he didn’t do it alone. He and his wife Bjo Trimble were major fans of The Original Series, but that show was in danger of being canceled after season two.

NBC would have ended the adventures of Captain Kirk and crew if not for the Trimbles, who launched a grassroots letter-writing campaign to help save the show.

Star Trek Getting Canceled?

All of this happened mostly due to a stroke of luck when John and Bjo Trimble got the chance to visit the set of Star Trek: The Original Series during the production of season two.

At one point, they grabbed some food from craft services, an area that was a well-known nexus of what John called “underground gossip.” That day, the gossip said the show was getting canceled after season two, prompting John and Bjo Trimble to launch a letter-writing campaign to save Star Trek.

<p>You might not think that a letter-writing campaign would be that difficult to pull off. Had Work With Post Office

You might not think that a letter-writing campaign would be that difficult to pull off. However, the most difficult part was learning all the rules of the post office, including how to use the relatively new zip code system.

Fortunately for future fans, John memorized all the rules needed to pull off this unprecedented grassroots campaign.

Star Trek: The Original Series Gets Second Season

Thanks to John and Bjo Trimble’s letter-writing campaign, Star Trek: The Original Series got a third season, but NBC finally pulled the plug after that (I imagine episodes like “Spock’s Brain” made that decision fairly easy).

Because of that, you might wonder why John is now remembered as the man who saved the franchise. In short, what was the big deal with saving The Original Series for one measly season?

Simple: while NBC didn’t want to spend any more money making new episodes of Star Trek, they were happy to generate profits by broadcasting reruns. Three seasons meant that The Original Series went into syndication, with NBC keeping the show on the air long after its cancellation.

<p>Stephen Kandel graduated from high school at 16 and began his college education before being drafted into the United States Army during World War II. While in the military, he endured a chest-stabbing incident but made a full recovery. </p><p>Following the war, Kandel successfully graduated from Dartmouth College in 1950 and pursued a career as a writer in the entertainment industry.</p><p>His talent for storytelling would define his contributions to Hollywood. Stephen Kandel emerged as a prominent screenwriter during the 1960s and 1970s, a period marked by the emergence and popularity of various science fiction and fantasy television shows. </p><p>One of Kandel’s most notable contributions was to Star Trek: The Original Series. </p>

Syndication Gets New Fans

Thanks to syndication, Star Trek found a new generation of fans (many of them college students), and the renewed popularity of the old show led to the launch of an animated series.

Both the new Animated Series and the ongoing syndicated success of Star Trek: The Original Series helped the franchise become a pop culture fixture. That popularity helped Trek branch into films and spinoff TV shows, continuing the vision of Gene Roddenberry long after his death. None of this would have been possible without John Trimble, the man who saved Star Trek.

What A Difference A Fan Makes

Next time you tune into a new episode of Discovery or a beloved rerun of The Next Generation, think about the contributions of John Trimble.

He showed the world how much of a difference a fan can make and ultimately affected the lives of millions of fans. John will be sorely missed, and we extend our deepest condolences to his wife and fellow Star Trek savior Bjo.
