Maroon 5's Las Vegas residency kicks off this month, and tickets are going fast as the band's concert dates fill up. In addition to securing passes for their festival appearances this year, we've broken down how to buy Maroon 5 tickets for their concert tour below.

Originally formed in 1994, Maroon 5 is celebrating 30 years together as they kick off their Las Vegas residency at the Dolby Live at Park MGM. The new tour, referred to in shorthand as "M5LV: The Las Vegas Residency," is an extension of their 16-show residency last year. After their run in Las Vegas last year proved to be a huge hit, the group led by Adam Levine is back for another 16 shows at the Dolby Live theater this year.

Maroon 5's residency begins on May 17, and will feature performances in May, June, September, and October. The Dolby Live theater isn't the only location that Maroon 5 is performing at this year; the pop rock band is set to make festival appearances and headline other venues around North America throughout the spring, summer, and fall.

We've got you covered if you're looking for how to get tickets to Maroon 5's concert tour. Here's our breakdown of Maroon 5's residency and tour schedule, purchasing details, and original and resale ticket price comparisons. You can also browse ticket specifics at your leisure on StubHub and Vivid Seats .

Maroon 5 has 16 concert dates lined up for their Las Vegas residency in 2024. Their shows at the Dolby Live begin on May 17 before the band takes their final bow of the tour on October 12. Additionally, Maroon 5 has nine concerts scheduled for their 2024 tour in various cities around the country.

All concert times are listed in local time zones.

You can buy standard original tickets for Maroon 5's 2024 concert tour on Ticketmaster and Live Nation. Both their Las Vegas residency and outside tour dates still have options available. However, the quantity of remaining original tickets continues to decrease as each concert date approaches.

Passes to see Maroon 5 in their 2024 concert series are also available for purchase through verified ticket resale sites such as StubHub and Vivid Seats . You may find better luck with more variety in seating availability through these resale vendors.

Maroon 5 tickets for their 2024 concerts are generally less expensive than similar big-name acts on tour this year. Of course, original ticket prices for Maroon 5's 2024 tour vary depending on date, location, and demand for each show.

The cheapest standard original tickets for Maroon 5's Las Vegas residency dates begin at $75, while the lowest available prices for their shows elsewhere start at $40 for the band's Clarkston, Michigan concert on June 21. Generally, resale ticket prices for Maroon 5's 2024 shows are comparable to or cheaper than the costs of standard original tickets.

On StubHub, the least expensive tickets for Maroon 5 range from $28 for the group's Holmdel, New Jersey show on June 29 to $116 for their Springfield, Massachusetts concert on July 1. Vivid Seats offers a similar price range, with the band's cheapest ticket prices starting from $27 at their Holmdel show to $114 for Maroon 5's Springfield concert on the same dates.

These resale sites have comparable prices for Maroon 5's Las Vegas residency shows, as well. The starting prices for the band's Las Vegas concerts range between $42 on May 17 and $92 on June 1 on StubHub, or from $41 on October 4 to $85 on June 1 on Vivid Seats.

Maroon 5 is also offering VIP packages for their 2024 concert tour. Their Las Vegas residency dates offer a Premium VIP Banquet package beginning at $495, but these tickets must be sold in multiples of two. The band also offers three VIP packages for their tour dates elsewhere: Diamond Premium Seat (starting at $685), Gold Premium Seat (starting at $435), and Silver Hot Seat (starting at $410).

Who is opening for Maroon 5's tour?

Maroon 5 doesn't have any opening acts for their Las Vegas residency concert dates. But, the band will be joined by Maren Morris for their non-festival touring dates outside Las Vegas in 2024.

Maroon 5 hasn't announced an international leg for their 2024 tour. However, the band has two shows already confirmed for Canada in 2024: June 25 in Toronto, Ontario and July 7 in Ottawa, Ontario.

Maroon 5 is one of the best-known pop rock bands out there. Its musical style vacillates between pop and pop rock with some indie rock and funk influences. The group has also experimented with new wave and disco sounds on several albums.

The band’s general tone and style shifts from one album to the next. Songs from Songs About Jane concentrated on frontman and vocalist Adam Levine’s former girlfriend. The material from It Won’t Be Soon Before Long is less personal and has a more electric sound with an overall synthesized, retro feel. With Hands All Over, the band returned to the theme of lost love from its first album. Regardless of the style it’s drawing on, Maroon 5’s knack for churning out catchy, jammable pop hits keeps it at the top of charts year after year.

The band is largely responsible for its own songwriting, with most of its most popular songs being written by various band members or in collaborative efforts among the members. Michael Jackson, The Police, Stevie Wonder, the Bee Gees, The Beatles, Tonic, Marvin Gaye, and Prince are all cited as significant influences on the band’s sound. Levine personally cites Billy Joel as a major influence, and guitarist James Valentine cites Queens of the Stone Age as his biggest influence.

Formed by high school friends Adam Levine, Jesse Carmichael, Mickey Madden and Ryan Dusick in Los Angeles, California in 1994, the band originally played under the name Kara’s Flowers. It changed its name to Maroon 5 after its musical direction matured while each member attended college and it added guitarist James Valentine.

The new urban edge and pop-soul sound their time at college had lent to the band’s music proved successful, and its 2002 debut album Songs About Jane sold 5 million albums in the US. Singles “Harder to Breathe” and “She Will Be Loved” quickly propelled the band to mega-stardom.

The success of Maroon 5’s debut album in 2002 caught the attention of John Mayer, The Rolling Stones, Sugar Ray, Gavin DeGraw, The Hives, and a number of other top performers, all of whom Maroon 5 has toured alongside. While three years of constant touring did wonders for the band’s popularity and fan base, it took its toll on drummer Ryan Dusick, who was forced to leave the band in 2006 due to an injury.

With Dusick replaced by Matt Flynn, the band soon released its 2007 album It Won’t Be Soon Before Long, which broke iTunes records by selling over 101,000 albums within the first week of its release. The single “Makes Me Wonder,” a sexy departure from the band’s sweeter tracks on Songs About Jane, took the US by storm, hitting the number one spot on the Billboard charts.

The band’s following albums, Hands All Over (2012) and Overexposed (2012), both performed similarly, with each hitting either the number one or number two spot in the US album chart. The band’s most successful single, though, is the 2011 megahit “Moves Like Jagger,” which featured Christina Aguilera and sold a staggering 15 million copies, making it one of the best-selling singles of all time.

Carmichael left the group in 2012 before rejoining it again in 2014. The same year, the band signed a new recording contract with Interscope Records and Adam Levine’s vanity label 222 Records. The band returned to the studio to record its fifth album, V, which reached number one on the Billboard 200. The single “Sugar” from the album quickly climbed to number two on the Hot 100 chart. The song was immensely popular and was featured in several commercials.

2014 marked one of the most successful and active phases of the band’s career to date. Maroon 5 was highly visible on the music scene that year, performing at several large-scale events and festivals. Early in the year, Maroon 5 was part of the 2014 iTunes Festival at the Roundhouse in London, England. Later that year, the group performed at the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball Tour.

Chasing the success of V, the group released its sixth album, Red Pill Blues, in 2017. The successful single “Girls Like You” skyrocketed to the number one position on the Hot 100 chart.

With the addition of Sam Farrar on bass in 2020, the band’s lineup jumped to seven total members: Adam Levine (lead vocals), Jesse Carmichael (keyboards, lead and rhythm guitar), James Valentine (lead and rhythm guitar), Matt Flynn (drums), PJ Morton (keyboards, backing vocals), and Sam Farrar (bass).

In June 2021, the band’s seventh album, Jordi, was released to mixed critical reviews. Despite the lukewarm critical reception, the album was a commercial success and sold well. The highly popular singles “Memories,” “Beautiful Mistakes” and “Nobody’s Love” featuring Megan Thee Stallion appeared on the album.

Maroon 5 is the recipient of numerous music industry awards and honors. To date, the band has won three Grammy Awards, three American Music Awards, three People’s Choice Awards, and eight Billboard Music Awards.

Maroon 5 embarked on the Maroon 5 World Tour in 2022, and the North American leg of the tour will begin in 2023. Stay tuned to find out when you can catch it live!

Live reviews

Sometimes when you hear a band that you love perform live for the first time, you're a bit disappointed because they do not sound as great as they do in the recordings. Well, that is NOT the case with Maroon 5, what you hear on recording is what you get live.

Adam Levine has an amazing voice. He is super talented, and they made no mistake when they decided to make him a judge on the show, The Voice. I could watch him perform live with his band all day. Some of my very favorite songs by Maroon 5 are their old ones such as “Never Gonna Leave This Bed”, “Harder To Breathe”, and “Misery” but when they start singing “Payphone”, I go crazy. I absolutely love this song performed live!

Perhaps the best song to see them perform live is “Moves Like Jagger”. It makes you move when you hear it on the radio, but when you hear it live, you're dancing non stop. Maroon 5 concerts are mostly upbeat and fun, but there are times when it slows down and they perform those songs that make you want to call your ex. The atmosphere to their concerts is just right. Chill at times, but also upbeat and loud.

Put Maroon 5 on your list of bands to see live because you will not be disappointed.

Maroon 5 have been constant and consistent in the charts over their long career which now spans almost fifteen years. The band, fronted by Adam Levine has come along way since the immediate success with 'Songs For Jane'. Now working on their sixth album, they obtain a consistency within their live show to match.

Armed with a plethora of hits, the band tear into 'One More Night' from the 2012 album 'Overexposed'. The audience singalong as Levine confidently struts around the stage commanding his loyal followers. A good mixture of material old and new make for a solid setlist where the band are able to show consistency through their recordings as the likes of 'Sunday Morning' and 'Maps' sit well together and achieve an equally positive reaction.

A real track of the 00's, 'She Will Be Loved' makes for perhaps the largest singalong of the evening as the crowd proudly attempt the high, long notes in the same way Adam does during the chorus. Evidently hitting their stride with latest album 'V', Maroon 5 impress crowds by remaining as relevant now as they were during their incarnation back in 2002.

This is my second show in the last 2 years and neither time was I disappointed in the least. This time I was fortunate enough to have the money I saved to purchase pretty good seats. I am now spoiled and can no longer sit in the stands. I am already saving my money for the next US tour in hopes to be even closer next show. No matter where your seats though....Adam is all over the stage in high energy, which is very infectious!! Anyone who did not enjoy that show, must not have been paying attention. They sounded awesome live...awesome!! Adam made the audience feel as though they were part of the show and VERY, VERY much appreciated! The lights were perfect, the set list was awesome as well. They played much longer than most people expected and the encore was just as great as the rest of the show, maybe even better. Maybe that is because I am partial to "Moves Like Jagger" and there it was....This was worth every dollar I paid, which was way more than I would pay to see anyone but maroon 5!! If you get a chance to see them sometime....make it a point....you will fall in love!!

IT WAS SOOOOOO AMAZING. they played all the songs i grew up listening to so all the memories just came flooding in and it was simply the best experience EVERR! seeing my favs live in concert was so LIT. What Lovers Do, Payphone, Maps, Cold, Sugar, Sunday Morning, Wait, Girls Like You, This Love AND MOVES LIKE JAGGER WOOO these are all my favourites and they played all of them AND MORE!!! i can’t barely describe how amazing this experience was. i was a bit upset that they didn’t perform an encore and some songs from the album that i really thought would be played like Help Me Out and Whiskey. from what my sister told me, Maroon 5 performed an encore last time round so i was quite let down when the concert ended without an one this time. nevertheless, it was a still a fantastic performance and i really hope to see them again soon!!!

No food allowed into the event, and the only food available from vendors was junk food (3-4 different pizza vendors, 2-3 sub vendors), not 1 single option for those wishing to eat healthy (not even a freaking salad was available anywhere).

Paid over $300 for "zone 1 seating", which was PACKED and there really was no "seating" as it was on the beach and turned into a free for all battle for a spot.

Lines into and out of "seating zones" were HORRIBLE throughout the ENTIRE event! The shitty food vendors were located past "zone 3" which meant that getting a bite to eat was about an hour process for those of us in zone 1!

Absolutely the last time I'm ever attending a concert at this venue!

As for the show itself, Maroon V was good, but for some reason decided to only play 3-4 songs from their new album.. Go figure.

I've been waiting to see Maroon 5 for 6 years and I'm so glad I finally did it.

I love that they didn't lose the essence of them as a pop rock band and a as a collective of musicians rather than just Adam Levine, especially since that's what it seems like in recent albums V and Red Pill Blues.

They started the show with videos and interacted a lot with the audience which made it a memorable show!

That said, Adam Levines voice was a little off... most of the time. He can't hit high notes and instead of really singing the lyrics sometimes it seemed like he was talking.

Still enjoyed the solos and appreciate that they played more "rock" songs like Harder To Breathe as well as their very recent pop music.

colomba-klenner’s profile image

The band was really good at times, but Adam Levine did not seem to be at his best. Entire show including encore was 1:20. No real effects, which is ok, if the music is great, but no one was super impressed with the performance. Maybe an off day. If you are thinking about getting the VIP package- DON'T! Complete rip off and Maroon 5 and VIP Nations EU should be ashamed. Grocery bag with Maroon 5 on it, a lanyard, a silk screen pillow (seriously), and cheap sunglasses. No band photos, certainly no pictures with you and the band, no autographed anything. Complete and utter SH*T for your extra money. They also made us wait outside for 35 minutes, 28 degree heat, beyond their published entrance opening, no apology. Awful!

More “Memories” with Maroon 5: The Las Vegas Residency returns in 2024

We’re not just getting “One More Night” with Maroon 5, but sixteen! Maroon 5: The Las Vegas Residency is back in Las Vegas this summer… is it worth picking up tickets?

Whether you walk into the theater already identifying as a fan, or it just sounded like something fun to do in Vegas, it’s one of the safest bets in Vegas that you’ll enjoy yourself at this show.

Dolby Live at Park MGM is one of my favorite residency theaters. It’s on the more intimate side, bringing you closer to the artist and making it easy for them to interact with the entire crowd. Plus, you get to hear a custom-built Dolby Atmos sound system tailored to the venue, where every seat has an immersive listening experience.

As a local, I also love how easy it is to get to from both the freeway or the strip. However, since it’s across the street from T-Mobile Arena, you may run into traffic if there’s a competing event.

Upon entering Park MGM from the parking garage, there was a payphone photo opportunity set up for fans that I thought was a fun touch, too.

The Setlist

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past twenty years, you will be familiar with most songs on the setlist, which mostly consists of their greatest hits. Even a few of their collaborations get a moment in the spotlight, with an abridged version of “Stereo Hearts” sans Gym Class Heroes, as well as frontman Adam Levine covering Christina Aguilera’s bridge in “Moves Like Jagger.” They did, however, pump in Cardi B’s vocals for “Girls Like You,” which the crowd loved.

With every song intro, the crowd buzzed with recognition. It really is a testament to the Maroon 5’s esteem— even if you’re not a die hard fan, you’ll be up and singing along.

The stage is on the more plain side when it comes to residencies, mostly just putting the band front and center. A few montages of the band’s early days are played throughout the set, and video effects serve as a backdrop during the performance, but for the most part it’s all about the music. Adam Levine takes full advantage of the X-shaped catwalk to get closer to the audience, and literally runs edge to edge on stage so no section feels left out. There are even a few call and response bits to get everyone involved.

A key moment among the chart toppers included a tribute to the band’s late manager and childhood friend, Jordan Feldstein, who passed in 2017 and inspired “Memories.” Before the song starts, we literally get to watch memories on the big screen of Adam and Jordi’s friendship starting when they were young kids, through their teenage years, and then in the band’s beginning stages. During our performance, Adam was still a bit choked up from the video intro, and had to take a moment to regroup and restart the first verse– seen below.

Another highlight was “She Will Be Loved,” which is the first song out of a three-song encore (so be sure to stay in your seat!). Adam and guitarist James Valentine venture out into the audience, between VIP and 200 sections, coming face to face with fans during the acoustic version.

Honorary mention goes to the covers performed— Prince’s “I Wanna Be Your Lover” and Bee Gees’ “Stayin Alive.” Adam’s showmanship really comes through during these numbers, showcasing his impressive tenor range.

And because I know some people are wondering: yes, throughout the night, Adam’s shirts mysteriously go missing layer by layer. 👀

Before attending the residency myself, the first thing that would always come to my mind about Maroon 5 was the viral Tumblr thread from 2017 . It jokingly claimed that Maroon 5 must have made a deal with the devil, because they’ve had countless Billboard hits over the past two decades yet you never hear anyone call them their favorite band. This always boggled my mind considering their success, but here’s the thing: whether or not they’re your favorite, spending a night with them won’t be time wasted.

Maroon 5: The Residency runs on select nights from May through October 2024. Grab tickets starting at $79 on Ticketmaster .

Girl's Reaction To Maroon 5 Tickets Is Priceless

Posted: May 10, 2024 | Last updated: May 10, 2024

A Maroon 5 superfan breaks down in tears after she is gifted surprise tickets to one of their concerts for her birthday. Caleigh Porch was at first unimpressed when her parents wheeled out a giant box, which upon opening only seemed to contain coloured balloons. But after her mom Tracy points out the envelope attached to one, Caleigh’s eyes light up as she reads the message stating she is going to see her idol Adam Levine in person. Almost instantaneously she burst into an eardrum-shattering scream, before breaking down into floods of tears.

Why some major artists are suddenly canceling shows, and in some cases entire tours

Bad Bunny performs on stage

A series of tour cancellations and changes by big-name artists has sparked questions about whether the post-pandemic live music boom could be cooling, as consumer spending fatigue meets elevated ticket prices.

On Friday, Jennifer Lopez announced she was canceling her 2024 tour , citing a desire to spend more time with her family. Meanwhile, the Black Keys announced they were abandoning a stadium tour in favor of a series of shows at smaller venues.

Both tours had recently become the subject of social media fodder, namely screenshots showing empty venues at select tour dates. (NBC News could could not directly verify their authenticity.)

Indeed, some of the evidence of a slowdown is anecdotal. SeatGeek said in an email that the average resale ticket price to attend a summer concert is down to $213 from $257 around this time last year. The company suggested some of the decline could be attributed to the absence of megatours on par with Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour” and Beyoncé’s “Renaissance” outings last year.

For artists whose popularity has crescendoed, there appears to be plenty of demand — and high prices. The average resale price for Olivia Rodrigo’s “Guts” tour is $571, and the next-highest is $409 to see Morgan Wallen, according to SeatGeek data first reported by Axios .

Many of those tours are being sold through Ticketmaster and its parent Live Nation. And prior to facing landmark accusations that it is a monopoly , a claim it denies, Live Nation reported its biggest first quarter ever, with $3.8 billion in revenues. Its concerts business alone was up 26% to $2.9 billion, while “estimated fans” globally were up more than 20%, and up 42% in North America.

Yet official government data points to the makings of a return to a more normal pace for live music event sales after a post-pandemic boom. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported last month that movie and concert admissions prices climbed just 3.4% year over year through April, the lowest reading since 2021 and the second-consecutive month showing a slowdown.

Dave Clark, editor of Ticket News, which tracks the live entertainment industry, said the period of explosive live music growth following pandemic reopenings may in hindsight be seen as an aberration: People were simply more eager — and more financially able — to go to as many shows as they could after months cooped up indoors.

This year, Clark said, a reckoning may be emerging.

“The days where there was enough demand to sell out arenas at top dollar just isn’t there in this live events economy — outside of people like Taylor Swift who can sell whatever they want wherever they want,” he said.

At a time when many consumers are struggling to pay for basic necessities, he said, “people are seeing some of the prices they’re asking and just saying, ‘Hard pass.’”

Another factor may be a supply issue, Clark added: too many acts trying to tour at once, or too many times. In the pre-streaming era, bands would go on tour as a way of marketing an album. These days, he said, it’s reversed, since the returns on recorded music have shrunk dramatically.

“Now they’re making records to sell the tour,” he said. “That paradigm has a lot to do with it. It’s just a very overloaded market.”

The Black Keys did just release a new album, and its debut single hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart in March.

Still, the rock duo announced it would cancel and reschedule its summer touring plans, switching from arenas to other venues that provide a more “intimate experience,” according to the band. The new dates have not yet been announced.

The Black Keys aren’t the only group that may be falling victim to costly concert fatigue.

Pop-rock band 311 announced it had canceled upcoming European tour dates due to the “rising costs of touring overseas,” which made completing certain portions of the tour “unfeasible.”

Other stars including Pink and Justin Timberlake have also recently canceled specific show dates, while the Jonas Brothers recently postponed their upcoming European tour , though none officially cited financial concerns as reasons for doing so.

“I think with all that competition for fan dollars, it was obviously natural that some artists were going to lose,” said Bill Werde, director of the Syracuse University Bandier Program for Recording and Entertainment Industries.

There are still plenty of large-scale tours planned for this summer that, so far, appear to be unaffected by flagging demand. Hootie & the Blowfish have 48 dates booked this year, while Dave Matthews Band is slated for 34. Other top acts hitting the road include Maroon 5, Zac Brown Band, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kenny Chesney and Chris Stapleton.

But experts say recent economic trends in the live-music industry, especially the type of consolidation the Justice Department is now targeting, have translated into fewer smaller-sized venues.

That’s made it more difficult for a given tour date to make financial sense for the artist, venue and promoter.

“Some shows, they can’t afford to drop prices; they can’t afford to wait to try to sell out the rest of the building,” Clark said.

If there is uncertainty about all stakeholders being able to at least break even, he said, the show might get canceled.

Such realities have collided with a more circumspect concertgoer. Brittney D’Mello, a 23-year-old K-pop fan from New Jersey who works in corporate marketing, posted to X about her frustrations with the current touring landscape.

“The tickets are too expensive,” D’Mello said. “There’s only a SMALL amount of people (10%) that will spend $500+ on vip/floor/premium,” she said. “The rest of us have budgets and won’t spend $100 on nosebleeds,” she said, referring to seats that are typically the farthest away from the stage.

“Everyone is touring this year … and we only have money for 2-3 concerts MAX,” she added.

In a follow-up interview with NBC News, D’Mello said she simply decided to cap her concert budget.

“I will only go see two artists that are my tried-and-true favorite artists,” she said. “But I won’t be casually going to concerts anymore. And after going to concerts twice, I think that’s where I stop.”

The Wedding Singer Takes a Celebrity Turn

To delight their guests, couples are booking musical headliners to give surprise performances at their weddings.

A wedding couple slow-dancing while the pop singer Goldford plays guitar and sings onstage. Flowers and a drum set are also on the stage. The bride is wearing a long white dress and the groom is wearing a tan suit.

By Stephanie Cain

Wendy Mazur said her “jaw hit the floor” when she saw her favorite pop singer, Goldford, walk out with his guitar during her first dance with Jerry Bedwell at their wedding in April 2022.

The couple considered the ballad “Upside Down” their song and had made it the theme of their reception at City Winery in Nashville. Their guest book, for example, was a custom puzzle of the “Upside Down” cover art.

Mr. Bedwell, 55, who works in information technology, surprised Ms. Mazur, 47, by hiring the musician to perform the love song live.

“I still get teary-eyed thinking about what Jerry did for me, making Goldford part of our wedding day,” said Ms. Mazur, a technology consultant and freelance writer. “What a loving surprise he gave me.”

Instead of opting for a simple recording for the first dance or a playlist for the after-party, some couples are splurging on surprise performers — Broadway stars, singer-songwriters, Grammy Award-winning acts — for their weddings, treating friends and family members to unexpected, meaningful experiences.

Celebrity performances at weddings have recently made headlines: In April, Ankur Jain, the chief executive of Bilt Rewards, a loyalty rewards company, arranged to have the singer Robin Thicke and the electric violinist Lindsey Stirling for his wedding in Cairo to Erika Hammond, a wrestler with World Wrestling Entertainment.

For Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s recent pre-wedding celebration in Jamnagar, India, Rihanna took the stage, as well as the Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan. Mariah Carey sang her top hits for the fashion retail executive Umar Kamani and the model Nada Adelle at their wedding reception in Antibes, France, in May.

“A surprise headliner is not something the majority of guests have ever experienced before, even if they have been to dozens of weddings,” said Tracy Taylor Ward, an event planner in New York who most recently worked with Flo Rida for a wedding performance. “It’s incredibly memorable and fun.”

Booking a headliner isn’t cheap: The vendor can cost anywhere from thousands of dollars to $3 million, Ms. Ward said. A top name like Rihanna or Lady Gaga could fetch up to $5 million, said Josh Friedman, the owner of Élan Artists, an entertainment services company in New York that books performers for weddings, among other events.

More couples have requested well-known musical acts over the last decade, Mr. Friedman said, with a greater spike after the Covid-19 pandemic. Popular requests, he said, include John Mayer, John Legend, Flo Rida, Maroon 5, Zac Brown Band and Andrea Bocelli.

Marshall Weinstein, who runs the event production agency SET Artist Management, worked with Ms. Ward to surprise his wife, Ariel Moses, with a performance by one of her favorite artists, Mr. Cheeks, at their wedding reception in February 2016 at Gotham Hall in New York.

He thought it would be a playful “throwback moment” to have Mr. Cheeks rap his 2001 hit, “Lights, Camera, Action.”

“The look on her face was priceless — that’s why I did it,” Mr. Weinstein said of Ms. Moses, a publicist. “I would do it a thousand times over again.”

The cost for Mr. Weinstein for Mr. Cheeks’s one-song performance: around $10,000.

Mr. Friedman divides headliners into two categories: slow background music for a ceremony, dinner or first dance, and upbeat party tunes for a reception or after-party. He has coordinated a range of acts: John Mayer to perform “Daughters” for a father-daughter dance; Lady Gaga to sing jazz renditions of her hits during dinner; and Pitbull to kick off late-night, high-energy dancing.

He recommended that couples not only think about their favorite musicians, but also consider what would fit the crowd and the destination. He suggested Shaggy for island weddings and Mr. Bocelli for weddings in Italy. If couples want a dance party, he recommends Ne-Yo or Flo Rida, who both have cross-generational hits. For couples with smaller budgets, he might consider hiring a tenor from the Los Angeles Opera or a Broadway star — just not Idina Menzel, he said. (The range for so-called megastars is $150,000 to $250,000.)

Keeping the crowd top of mind, Eddie Kay, 41, who works in computer engineering, and Alex Zhou, 32, who recently earned her Ph.D. in economics, hired the singer Katherine Ho to perform in English and Mandarin for their wedding in Saratoga, Calif., in April. Ms. Ho is known for her Mandarin cover of Coldplay’s “Yellow” in the film “Crazy Rich Asians,” and Mr. Kay felt that the performance would be welcomed by their Chinese family members in attendance, many of whom didn’t speak English.

Evan Ross Katz, 35, a writer and podcaster, and Billy Jacobson, 30, an engineer, wanted someone “iconic” for their May nuptials in New York. So the couple booked Mandy Moore , who performed her love song from 2000, “I Wanna Be With You,” as well as her top hit, “Candy,” as guests took to the dance floor.

When hiring a music star, couples need to factor in expenses like travel, accommodations, meals, production equipment and even green room requests, which can add to the overall cost, said Jordan Kahn, who owns a namesake music company in Dallas. A headliner’s tour schedule, the wedding location and the number of songs performed can all increase the price as well, he said. It’s also rarely just the headliner whom couples have to consider: They may need to cover the costs for security teams, managers, assistants and other members of the entourage.

A cottage industry has emerged as vendors seek to help couples navigate the process. Music companies that supply D.J.s and wedding bands, like Mr. Kahn’s company and Élan Artists, often serve as the liaisons between talent managers and couples to secure talent and produce the final show.

Rachel Dalton, the president of a namesake production company in New York, helps couples negotiate and finalize contracts with talent using her background as an entertainment lawyer. Her team also personally escorts the performer to and from the venue and ensures that every technical requirement is met. Her production firm has worked with such names as Chris Stapleton, Alicia Keys and the Rolling Stones.

“Everything must be in the artist’s agreement so the couple is protected,” Ms. Dalton said. “It’s a real investment and must be treated as such.”

When David Levy, 29, the royalties manager for a music company, booked Derek Sanders of Mayday Parade to perform three songs during his wedding in Brooklyn in May with Megan Carty, 29, a pharmacist, he also hired a sound engineer and a D.J. to meet equipment needs and make sure that the day-of logistics ran smoothly.

Mr. Sanders sang “Miserable at Best,” one of Ms. Carty’s favorite songs, for the couple’s first dance, followed by two other hits, “I Swear This Time I Mean It” and “Your Song.”

“Derek didn’t just sing and leave — he hung around and took photos with our guests,” Mr. Levy said. “He signed our guest book. He had conversations with us. He was so kind.”

Many musicians enjoy performing at weddings and will often include a meet-and-greet with guests as part of the performance package.

“This is not a corporate event for a faceless company, nor is it a concert,” said Jay Siegan, who books 200 weddings a year with headliners like Celine Dion, the Killers and the Wu-Tang Clan, through his company, Jay Siegan Presents, based in Santa Barbara, Calif.

“This is the singular most important event of someone’s life,” he said.
