I've worked out here regularly for several years and continue to be happy with their services and facilities. They have great classes, especially Judy's spin class, the pump and yoga (which has various levels to satisfy a range of ability). They have a rock climbing wall, a soccer field used for a variety of sporting events, a large indoor swimming pool and a variety of personal trainers in addition to all the usual work out equipment. The facilities are very kid friendly (they have a separate room for the younger ones as well as classes geared specifically for them). They also have a program called "Silver "Sneakers" for the retired crowd. I definitely recommend this gym since it easily accommodates both the serious gym rat and those who are beginning their first workout routine; unlike most other gyms, there is very little reason to feel self conscious, and I have never witnessed any "hogging" of equipment, creepy behavior or other obvious forms of bad gym etiquette. In fact, we have actually met new friends here, which has helped us stick to a workout routine.

Not very accommodating to paying members during the summer. Summer camp out rules over members on where they sit, swim or play. I just wanted to sit at the empty tables to supervise a child in the splash pad and I was told to leave that it was for camp only. A real inconvienence! Even though the tech center was empty we still could not use it because of camp! I was told... "oh well you only have to put up with it for 2 more weeks", but in 2 more weeks the kids will be back in school. I found the employees rude, not helpful and couldn't really care at all about our concerns. I gave a couple suggestions and they simply said that won't work, camp comes first.

This Y is well maintained and friendly. It has a great selection of classes and machines.

The place is filthy. Nats in the men's locker room and s.ells like urine. No hot water until u stand there and let it run for 15 mins then it's too hot to get in. The staff is unfriendly and the director did nothing but mess up my membership and pricing. Everytime I checked in I was red flagged and had to go stand in line and wait for the director to just keep apologizing for him messing up my membership and my bank drafts. Was told he would give me two months free then the first Month they had a collection call to me. It's not worth your time energy or the money. No real mission and not very friendly staff at all. Maybe 2 front desk ppl were friendly ish. The rest don't even look up at you when u r there. By far the worst experiences ever going to a y. Additionally the sauna and hot tub do not work well they are always shut down the sauna took months to get a part and the hot tub is always empty even during unscheduled cleaning tines for cleaning. Just really aweful.

Overall this Y! Is a good option for families. So why only a 3? I take issue with the way they operate, in particular the pool area. The pool area offers a hot tub, sauna, lap pool, and a kids pool area with a water slide and waterfall. The pool is nice but these whistle blowers acting like lifeguards need to learn a little common sense and focus on the things that actually matter. They sweat the small stuff to the point where it's almost not even fun for the kids. They also had no supervision on top of the slide as kids were getting on. That's a lawsuit waiting to happen. I used to enjoy the pool, now not as much. I appreciate safety as much as the next parent believe me, just can't deal with pettiness. Its gotten ridiculous. Anyway moving on, the Y! is not cheap by any means, they will work with you if you are in financial need, still the $85 a month for families is pretty hefty. I remember when it used to be around $55 per month just a few years ago. The rest of the Y! is great I must say. I love the workout area, the machines are modern, love the treadmills. This is one of the better Ys in Tampa Bay, plenty of space and great location.

Came here on a guest pass recently. Great place to take classes, however, the gym is overloaded with machines and very little room to do calisthenics and weight lifting. Consider this based on your workout needs and/or goals.

Not impressed with the limited hours. Would it cost that much more to staff the facility until 11:30 at night? Classes are great but if you don't get there in time to get a pass for the more popular ones you are out of luck (and in time I mean at least half an hour early) I would like to see more afternoon classes for those of us who are not 9-5'ers. Membership fees are not bad for a family, but for an individual you get raked over the coals

I was a member here for over a year. I found that their membership fees were high compared with other gyms in the area. The Sauna is co-Ed and located on the pool deck. Additionally, the sauna is very small. I feel as though the higher membership fees were going toward excess staff that wasn't needed as well as paying for subsidized or free memberships for low income people and/or the homeless. That being said, I don't think the higher prices were warranted based on comparable offerings in the area.

Once great, now a bust. It's nothing more than a glorified community center, focused on kids team sports (the city is already loaded with them!), locker room showers are a breeding ground for fungus and athlete's foot. There are constant management changes, if you have a complaint it falls on deaf ears and they tell you it's probably not the place for you (heaven forbid they actually change something). Pool's okay, but closed lots, so is the spa/hot tub, crowded so you have to share lap lanes. Exercise room is crowded, you have to wait for machines, equipment in exercise rooms is old, not well maintained. Too many other options to bother with this. If you like an "inner city setting", you'd like this, otherwise, avoid.
