The hanauma bay nature preserve is open to the public wednesdays through sundays, with entry allowed from 6:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. all hanauma bay visitors must leave the nature preserve by 4 p.m., with the beach being cleared at 3:30 p.m. this schedule is subject to change at any time.., parking is 1st come 1st served – even if you have a video reservation. entry into hanauma bay is based on theater show times (every 10 minutes). tram service between the upper and lower level is now included with your entry., hanauma bay snorkel adventures.

Hanauma Bay Snorkel Adventures is a local Hawaii snorkeling excursion and shuttle service company dedicated to helping you and your family enjoy Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve to the fullest. Remember, snorkeling Hawaii is fun and educational for young and old. No experience is necessary!

Once we receive the word from the State of Hawaii that we can begin transporting our guests to Hanauma Bay, our affordable snorkeling packages will start at  $49.95.  Our package includes the following:

• Hotel pick-up and return (Waikiki Only)

• Professional drivers
• Sanitized professional equipment (mask, snorkel, & fins)
• Instructions on how to use equipment
• Snorkeling safety tips

Reservations are required and must be made at least 48 hours in advance. Price does not include $25 per person park entrance fee for 13-year olds and above. 2024 UPDATE: Beginning in January 2023, tour operators will have access to the commercial parking lot at Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve. We are now offering our Transportation Package to Hanauma Bay from your Waikiki hotels. Snorkel gear for marine life viewing is included with the transportation package • Waikiki Shuttle Pickup – 6:00 & 8:00 a.m.

Wonderful! Definitely worth the extra money for a guided tour. Excellent snorkeling experience.

This was an excellent experience from start to finish! Dan promptly picked us up from our hotel and took us to Hanauma Bay. He took care of collecting all of our gear needed for snorkeling and had wet suits to rent if ne ... more eded. Dan gave great instructions/tips to the group on how to snorkel. Dan and his partner then took us throughout the bay to the best sites to see the tropical fish. He even took pictures for us! I highly recommend this tour! It is an experience we won’t forget!

Hanauma Bay was a really great and fun experience. It's an early activity but the water isn't too bad, as it's quite easy to warmup in the ocean. The tour guide on the drive out was great, very friendly. Gear worked well and was clean. We got chairs and an umbrella which was really nice since we were there a while. I didn’t love the actual bay, however. The snorke ... more ling was only okay and we didn’t see nearly as many types of fish as I would have expected for a place boosting great snorkeling. I have been to better. The reef was also super shallow so hard to navigate around the sections safely without touching the coral. It also was very sandy so the view wasn’t clear. Overall I would not pick this activity again just since the snorkeling wasn’t great. However, the driver and equipment was great so I didn’t want to knock their rating down just because the experience wasn’t amazing.

Description/Overview:  With its diverse population of marine life, as well as a large and rich coral reef, Hanauma Bay was declared an official protected Marine Life Conservation Area and underwater park in 1967, making this stunning natural wonder a “must see!” For anyone wanting to experience the best of Oahu, this is a tour that should not be missed!

Within the bay’s calm waters, you can swim through a coral reef with more than 450 species of vibrant tropical fish, a quarter of which are native to Hawaii.

Past customer Marcus writes, “The water is very clear once you get away from the beach. … You can feel the waves but it is a very easy swim.”

Tour package:  Includes round-trip transportation from Waikiki (about 30 minutes each way), professional-grade, sanitized equipment (silicon-tempered mask, J-type snorkel, and endurance vinyl acetate fins), and expert instruction. Mask defogger is also available upon request.

We strongly encourage customers to book the earliest time available which is the 6 AM time, if that time is not available and you would like to do the later time please book a separate reservation with the state park https://www.honolulu.gov/parks-hbay/home.html for a time between 8:00-8:30 AM. If you are not able to secure tickets for the park there are walk-in tickets that you may purchase when you arrive. The times are based on first come first serve, therefore there will be a wait to enter the park.

Note : $25 admission charge to Hanauma Bay is not included, must bring CASH for the admission ticket . The entrance fee is waived for children under 13, members of the military (ID required), and for residents of Hawaii with proof of residency.

Optional snorkeling accessories are available for an additional cost – including underwater cameras, dry snorkels, corrective lens masks, and flotation vests – or you can bring your own gear if you prefer.

Inclusions: Round-trip transportation from Waikiki with snorkel equipment.

What to Bring & What to Wear: Cash for the entrance fee, swimsuit, a towel, sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses recommended.

Formed within a volcanic cone, today Hanauma Bay offers a pristine marine ecosystem after the City and County of Honolulu laid out a plan in 1990 to restore the bay, after years of use from the millions of visitors who visit and love to snorkel Hanauma Bay. Voted Best Beach in the United States in 2016, volunteers have a booth located on the beach level to help visitors learn about conservation of the reef and the types of fish that live there.

All guests are required to watch a 9-minute video that serves as a crash course in marine life, park preservation, and safety rules. This mandatory viewing ensures that all visitors understand and respect the delicate ecosystem they’re about to explore. To ensure the well-being of our underwater inhabitants, it’s law that visitors refrain from touching or walking on the coral reefs. Remember, these are living creatures! We urge everyone to watch their step and keep their hands to themselves. It’s all part of our mission to protect this beautiful bay.

The natural spa known as the “Toilet Bowl” was a beloved part of our park, however, due to safety concerns, it has been closed to visitors. We continue to prioritize your safety and the preservation of our natural resources above all else.

You can drive out on your own & it’s only $3.00 to park / $1 for locals • There are only 300 parking stalls. The parking lot fills up early and is guarded by security for your protection.

When is Hanauma Bay Closed and what time does it open?

Hanauma Bay is closed every Monday & Tuesday so that the fish and bay have 2 days of undisturbed rest Hanauma Bay entrance opens at 6:45am and Closes at 4pm daily / No entry after 2pm The park is also closed on Christmas Day (25th) and New Years Day (1st)

What are the fees and cost at  Hanauma Bay?

ALL Adults pay $25.00 per person to enter the Hanauma Bay. ( Kids 12 & under are FREE ) Active Oahu military and local residents with proper state ID are also FREE The snack bar located at the upper level area of the park is now OPEN Tram service between the upper level and the lower level is now FREE & included Beach wheel chairs are available for free, see the volunteers on the beach at Hanauma Bay.

What do I need to bring with me?

Each person should bring a towel, swimsuit, reef-safe sunscreen , and the park entrance fee of $25.00 You may bring a small personal cooler with snacks or non alcoholic beverages – NO large coolers

From Waikiki take H1 Freeway until it becomes Kalanianaole Highway then continue for approximately 10 miles. The entrance to Hanauma Bay is located on the right at the top of the hill just past the city of Hawaii Kai.
