Tour Daufuskie is a locally owned and operated company specializing in Daufuskie Island guided tour packages such as Daufuskie Island history/artisan tours, kayaking tours, eco-tours, and also Daufuskie Island Gullah tours. These are generally offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11AM or 2PM. Through their tours, the company hopes to give visitors a local perspective and foster a sense of unplugged appreciation. Below are a sample of their offerings and tours from other companies we recommend.

Haig Point Lighthouse

The famous Haig’s Point Lighthouse is located in the private residential community of Haig Point. In 1872, to assist ships trying to navigate the shifting shoals of Calibogue Sound, construction of a lighthouse on Haig’s Point began. The 40-foot tower of the lighthouse served mariners traveling around the northern tip of Daufuskie between 1873 to the 1930s. Stories about its ghosts and where they came from seem to be more truth than fiction. Exclusive escorted tours can be arranged through the Daufuskie Island Ferry.

Sallie Ann Robinson’s Gullah Tour

When you step off the ferry, you will meet Sallie Ann Robinson, a sixth generation native of Daufuskie Island and recognized TV personality, celebrity chef, and spokesperson for preserving the legacy of Gullah culture. During the next 2.5 hours, Sally will fascinate you as she makes the history of Daufuskie come alive by sharing her many stories about growing up as a child on bridgeless Daufuskie Island and attending the two-room school where she was one of author Pat Conroy’s students.
