Crete Cruise Night hosts classic cars dated 1986 & older every Monday in the heart of downtown Crete. This weekly event is held in conjunction with the weekly farmer's market. Free registration is held in front of Aurelio's Pizza. June-August.

How does this work?

Save $5 and pre-register and pay with the form below!

On October 28 , head to Old Town Mall (located at 1390 Main Street, Crete, IL 60417) to check-in, anytime between 5:00-6:00 pm and get your wristband.

All pre-registered attendees will receive a special Crawl-o-Ween T-shirt and all Crawlers will receive special food/drink specials throughout the night!

Any registered Designated Drivers will receive a different colored wrist band along with a special swag bag.

When you arrive to check-in, you will be entered into the costume contest, if you choose to participate - YES! THERE WILL BE PRIZES!

Before the crawl, you will receive your Crawl-o-Ween Passport.  This passport will include each participating bar, their location, specials, events, and anything else you'll want to know!

Get your passport stamped at each participating bar and be entered to win our GRAND PRIZE ! Completed passports may be turned in at any location.

From there, you are free to go in any order to the participating locations!

Crete Area Historical Society and Museum

The Crete Area Historical Society works to preserve and promote Crete's history.

Our Organization

The Crete Area Historical Society is a group of local history enthusiasts who enjoy learning more about the rich history of Crete, Illinois and the surrounding areas. From the Native Americans who first called this area home to the settlers who followed later, we aim to preserve the history of Crete for future generations and promote our heritage for all. We meet the third Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m.  at the old Crete Congregation Church building, 550 W. Exchange Street, Crete.

Throughout the year the group holds informational talks on the local history, such as Cemetery Walks and lectures at the Crete Public Library on topics such as area dairies, Sears homes, the Letters Home (presentation on WWII) among others. During the summer months, you can find a tent set up on Monday nights in the Crete Methodist Church parking lot as part of the Farmers Market/Cruise Night festivities. Enjoy local artifacts and knowledgeable locals happy to talk to you about anything regarding Crete history. 

​The society has been around for several decades, and we are happy to finally have a permanent place to call home  at the old Crete Congregational Church building located right in downtown Crete. We are in the process of restoring this local landmark and former antique store to serve as a museum and community gathering place.  Please check back for more information about updates regarding our progress.

We will be in need of handyman including electricians, carpenters, plumbers and more, as well as anyone willing to get dirty and help restore the Crete Congregational Church. For more information contact us at [email protected].

Our website implements the ARIA attributes (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) technique, alongside various different behavioral changes, to ensure blind users visiting with screen-readers are able to read, comprehend, and enjoy the website’s functions. As soon as a user with a screen-reader enters your site, they immediately receive a prompt to enter the Screen-Reader Profile so they can browse and operate your site effectively. Here’s how our website covers some of the most important screen-reader requirements, alongside console screenshots of code examples:

Screen-reader optimization: we run a background process that learns the website’s components from top to bottom, to ensure ongoing compliance even when updating the website. In this process, we provide screen-readers with meaningful data using the ARIA set of attributes. • Visually Impaired Mode: this mode adjusts the website for the convenience of users with visual impairments such as Degrading Eyesight, Tunnel Vision, Cataract, Glaucoma, and others.
• Cognitive Disability Mode: this mode provides different assistive options to help users with cognitive impairments such as Dyslexia, Autism, CVA, and others, to focus on the essential elements of the website more easily.

• Audio muting – users with hearing devices may experience headaches or other issues due to automatic audio playing. This option lets users mute the entire website instantly.
• Cognitive disorders – we utilize a search engine that is linked to Wikipedia and Wiktionary, allowing people with cognitive disorders to decipher meanings of phrases, initials, slang, and others.
• Additional functions – we provide users the option to change cursor color and size, use a printing mode, enable a virtual keyboard, and many other functions.

We aim to support the widest array of browsers and assistive technologies as possible, so our users can choose the best fitting tools for them, with as few limitations as possible. Therefore, we have worked very hard to be able to support all major systems that comprise over 95% of the user market share including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Opera and Microsoft Edge, JAWS and NVDA (screen readers).
