Start in the historic St George’s Market, meeting producers, then visit traditional bars, world-class shops and finish in a top restaurant in the lively Cathedral Quarter, eating and drinking over 25 of some of the best local food and drink along the way.

No need for breakfast, nor will you need lunch, and leave the car behind! The enthusiastic local foodie guides ensure guests get a flavour for the city and the produce of Northern Ireland.

Belfast Gin Jaunt

Pop your gin-tinted glasses on! Book your space on the ‘Belfast Gin Jaunt’ – Northern Ireland’s first Gin Tour!

Try 7 very different gins, including 3 locals, as we visit 5 pubs and bars learning all about gin, gin styles, garnishes, cocktails and more. You’ll even get to meet some of the faces behind the gins, and we’ll throw in a few nibbles for good measure.

Brewery Tour

Go with Taste and Tour to not only meet the brewer, but discover ‘the three ages of brewing’ as you visit three very different breweries. Hop on a bus in Belfast City Centre and over the course of 3 1/2 hours, meet three local brewers, sample 11 of their beers and have some nibbles along the way!

You will stop at Ireland’s oldest independent brewery, Belfast’s first co-operative brewery and finish at a digital brewery.

After a fun and beer filled evening, guests can opt to take the bus back to the city centre or stay on at the final stop, which is also an excellent bar!

Belfast Bites

This is the ideal culinary adventure for those who are visiting Belfast for the first time or want to experience traditional Belfast food and drink. Taste and Tour will take you on a 3 hour guided walk to discover the city, its people, and the best bites Belfast has to offer.

Then head off around the city and taste renowned local seafood, award winning local cheeses, artisan cider, as well as the best Irish stew and champ to be found in Belfast.

Not only will you learn what a boxty is, and taste it, you’ll also visit the best Irish whiskey shop in Ireland, and sip on a nip of Belfast whiskey whilst you are shown how to make the perfect Irish coffee and will learn to pour your own pint of the Black Stuff.

Belfast – City-Centre

mchughs-wine-bar

McHughs Bar & Restaurant 29 – 31 Queen’s Square Belfast BT1 3FG

We run our wine tastings and wine courses in a quiet private room on the top floor of this historic city-centre pub.

The Wine Education Service has been running wine tastings, wine tasting courses and weekend wine workshops in London for 20 years and in Belfast for 7 years.

We offer thoughtfully designed courses, which will help you extend your knowledge of the wines of the world, sharpen up your taste buds and become more confident about buying, storing and serving wine and matching it with food.

Many wine tastings and wine tasting courses are run by wine merchants. Nothing wrong with that. It’s a great way to get potential customers into their stores and promote sales of their wines.

We are not wine merchants. We don’t sell wine. We are not paid by any wine merchant to promote their wines.

So, at our wine tastings and on our wine courses, you will never come under any pressure to buy wine.

Our course tutor is Richard James, who has been in the wine business for over 25 years.

He lives in Northern Ireland and has also lived in France and Manchester, where he ran WES courses for several years. He is a writer, web publisher, translator and wine tutor and has passed the Master of Wine exams (but not the dissertation!).

His blogs are at www.winewriting.com , where you will find many producer profiles, wine recommendations and features.

So, if you are interested in wine, come and meet like-minded people and enjoy tasting and learning in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Our programme of wine tastings and wine courses in Belfast over the next few months is as follows:-

When it comes to wine, a small step in price = a HUGE leap in quality and taste. By spending £ 8-£ 11 for a bottle of wine, you're actually getting more than DOUBLE the quality of wine than a £ 6-£ 7 bottle.. Here's how it works... In your average £ 6-£ 7 wine most of the price goes on fixed costs like taxes, duty, bottling and transport... leaving fewer pennies for the wine itself.
