I think the show in the film is Earl´s Court. Absolutely fantastic, quite possibly the best performance I’ve ever seen.

Jesus Christ, just saw Moonage Daydream & the Heroes footage blew me away. I’ve re-watched it up to 20 times. Don’t know which show that’s from but I know it’s Adrian Belew on guitar. The drumming kills me, Dennis Davis is phenomenal. Anyone know which show this is from?

Great site!

Bowie in New Zealand

David Bowie toured New Zealand four times.

The first time was the Heroes tour in 1978 when he played at Auckland's Western Springs and in Christchurch at QE2 Park.

He came again in 1983 with his Serious Moonlight Tour - again performing at Western Springs and also in Wellington at Athletic Park.

In 1987 he brought his Glass Spider Tour, but only played in Auckland.

The last time he toured New Zealand was with his Reality Tour in 2004, where he performed his sole gig on Valentines Day in Wellington at Westpac Stadium.

Flashback: David Bowie Plays a Haunting ‘Heroes’ in 1978

By Andy Greene

Andy Greene

The European leg of David Bowie’s Isolar II world tour wrapped up with a three-night stand at London’s Earls Court in late June and early July of 1978. Bowie and a killer seven-piece band had been on the road since March supporting Low and Heroes , though their set highlighted material from nearly all of his 1970s albums. They were a tight machine by the time of the Earls Court gigs and Bowie had the foresight to bring in filmmaker David Hemmings to film the shows.

'Word Salad': Andrew Huberman's Cannabis Claims Slammed by Experts

Brian wilson placed in conservatorship as daughters win consultation rights, see taylor swift perform 'fortnight,' 'but daddy i love him' at the eras tour in paris, stormy daniels defends herself — and clarifies 'orange turd' post — in tense cross-examination.

All three nights opened up with the low, instrumental “Warszawa” that went directly into the title track to Heroes  – which you can watch here. He recorded the song at West Berlin’s Hansa Studios in the summer of 1977, directly in the shadow of the Berlin Wall. The sight of producer Tony Visconti kissing backup singer Antonia Maas near the enormous stricture inspired Bowie to write a tale about two lovers embracing near the wall as “guns shot above our heads.” Visconti was married at the time, so Bowie fibbed about the true inspiration of the song for years, finally fessing up in the early 2000s.

The footage of the Earls Court show has yet to be professionally released. “I simply didn’t like the way it had been shot,” Bowie said in 2000. “Now, of course, it looks pretty good and I would suspect that it would make it out some time in the future.” It’s 16 years later and we’re still waiting for that future moment, but thankfully a pristine copy of the entire show has wound up on YouTube. But they really should remaster it and put it into movie theaters. The Stage live album was recorded earlier in the tour and this is a far better show. It should be shared with the world.

Live: Forum, Inglewood

David Bowie performed at the Forum in Inglewood, California, on 3 April 1978, as part of the Isolar II Tour.

It was the fourth date of the tour, which began on 29 March in San Diego .

Bowie’s guitarists were Carlos Alomar and Adrian Belew. Simon House was on electric violin, Sean Mayes played piano, and Roger Powell was on keyboards and synthesizers. George Murray played bass guitar and Dennis Davis was on drums.

The Forum is a huge sports auditorium – 19,000 and very impressive. A TV crew arrived for a brief interview with David. As we walked the long route to the stage, they scuffled backwards before him and the rest of us jostled cheerfully for camera angles. Then Eric gave the shout, cameras were forgotten and we strolled out to mount the scaffolding of our first real biggie. I felt as if my heart was pumping pure adrenalin round my system and it was an effort to breathe. The audience must have felt the same way as ‘Warszawa’ boomed round this space age forum.

This was the first of three nights at the Forum. Bowie had previously performed there on 8 , 9 , and 11 February 1976 during the Isolar Tour.

He returned to the venue on 14 and 15 August 1983 for the Serious Moonlight Tour, and 28 and 29 October 1995 for the Outside Tour.
