Great place

I visited with my 4 children aged between 6-12. I couldn't pre book due to wanting to use my club card vouchers to pay which I was slightly concerned about but when I arrived a few minutes before 10am I headed straight for the ticket office and had no more than a 5 minute wait to get our tickets. The man on the counter was very polite and helpful, he booked us in for the next drive through slot available which was between 10:30 & 11am which was perfect as just enough time to pop to the toilets which are situated in the car park and are really well maintained. You can buy animal food and feed some of the animals which my children loved. All the animals seem to be well cared for and The lemurs have an amazing enclosure. The ride wrist bands were Ā£12 each which I think was a very reasonable price for the amount of rides available. We didn't have to cue for anymore than a couple of minutes to get on to any rides either. The shops were expensive but no more so than any other tourist attraction. We would definitely visit again and would recommend to others.

Extremely rude employee

I was visiting from Cornwall with my elderly grandad and experienced extreme rudeness from a woman in the car park directing traffic. I did not get her name but she had blonde hair and was wearing gold chains, stood near the ticket office entrance. The theme park at the safari had been reccomended to us and we were unsure whether this is seperate to the safari. I couldn't reach anybody on the phone so we decided to visit to ask. On arrival, we stopped next to an employee who's name I did not get but she was directing traffic in the car park. She had blonde hair and was wearing lots of gold Jewelery around her neck. My elderly grandad proceeded to ask her the question about the theme park and she told us 'if you want a theme park you go to Alton towers' and told us to leave. She would not allow my grandad to finish asking his question about where we could buy tickets for the safari, she was talking over him telling him he needed to drive away and pointing to the exit if he only wanted to go to the theme park. There was no traffic behind us and we were just making a quick and polite enquiry. I can honestly say that I have never witnessed customer service as poor as that before, let alone towards an elderly man trying to arrange a fun day out for his great grandson. The woman was arrogant, rude and condescending. I would never visit West Midlands safari and would encourage anybody considering it to think again!

Want a good day out? Then read this.

Want a good day out? Well donā€™t bother with this place!! The most badly managed, disorganised mess youā€™ve seen! To sum it up, Drinks are Ā£4.50 then an extra Ā£2.50 to fill it! Food prices are RIDICULOUS and then people think parking in a disabled bay is acceptable ā€œbecause they are entitled to without a blue badgeā€ and nothing is done to allow people with disabilities (me included) to enjoy the park. The dinosaur displays are rotting away, covered in moss and algae, paths are muddy and uneven, exhibits old and uncared for. They charge an absolute fortune to get in to be literally mugged by one greedy owner! On the safari the staff speed the wrong way in the land rovers & cut you up, wonā€™t be long until an accident occurs. Wonā€™t be going again to this extremely overpriced disorganised dump and calling it a dump is being nice.

Disappointing visit

Disappointing visit. Refuse to acknowledge the need for carers because iā€™ve not got a nimbus card (which people can buy) and more formal proof could be offered. Ended up paying 3 adults & get 1 free despite current offer is buy one get one free so iā€™m feeling robbed 2 different ways. It was busy and whilst i know you canā€™t guarantee seeing animals i didnā€™t expect to get close to some them the rangers come driving up a what felt like speed to get them move. On entry there was a sign saying donā€™t feed the giraffes but when we got to zebra ranger started shouting donā€™t feed the zebras. Went to the viewing point to see the Tigers, not long after the tiger came out another park keep came up saying the area closed at 4pm (not signposted) All in all it feels like the keepers/rangers have managed to ruin a day and before anyone says nobody or animal were at risk needing their intervention. Expensive disappointment. Wonder if they care enough to respond to the feedback!

Higher prices all round for the same, minimal park!

Changes to entrance fees and nothing in return for much higher prices! Additional cost for wrist bands. No student discounts. Coke Ā£4.50!...Told it was a free re-fillable anywhere on site. Afterwards told this was not the case...dishonest and wrong. No extra rides or activities, yet higher prices to access!? Ā£6 to hook 3 duckies....come on! Portion sizes reduced in Dino restaurant. All disposable packaging. No air conditioning but food still tastes OK. Could hear so many families unhappy with the prices. It's hard enough to survive during the summer holidays. Please WMSP help don't hinder families and all children from enjoying such venues.

Disappointing and wonā€™t return

Offering 50% off tickets because some (most certainly not all) teachers have gone on strike is not really fair, when you have sold tickets to many schools coming for their end of term trips. The drive through was excessively busy, taking us 45 minutes just to get through the giraffes. Iā€™ve been coming here for years and bought multiple classes of children, but will never return after this weeks visit. Far too busy, not even lunch or walkthrough entrance for coach drivers anymore and barely any animals to be seen, as they are mostly kept up near the lodges these days.

A fantastic safari lodge

A fantastic safari lodge , excellent food delivered to your door. All the animals can be seen at close range & are in super fit condition & look happy & healthy. The staff & keepers were all very helpful & pleasant & so knowledgeable & nothing was too much trouble.Highest praise goes particularly to Rachel for an inspired tour of the park, her confident & pleasing manner & her vast knowledge of every species in the park. She answered all our questions & more. Overall a brilliant place to visit & enjoy this amazing experience.

Booked online on the 26th for the 27th

Booked online on the 26th for the 27th, money was taken from my account but no tickets receivedspent the entire morning calling them but no one would answer sent them an email but they replied saying no tickets found. But money had been taken from my bank. Travelled all the way from London with my children who were left disappointed. Others have had similar issues if u check trip adviser etc. Avoid at all cost staff r very in professional and unhelpful. I have had to contact my bank to get a refund

Awful place.

PLEASE donā€™t waste your time or money on this badly managed place. Stuck in high temperatures for over 2 hours in the safari part and honestly wondered if they had any animals at all in some parts. Would have been better off having a walk in the country. Then to end the day with my grandson who has autism with severe learning difficulties to be discriminated against having a meltdown and my daughter in tears. After years of visiting this park will not be returning and I urge people to do the same.

Date of experience : August 10, 2023

I would describe our visit as average. We saw plenty of animals whilst on the drive round but there was an incident where a rhino ran into a vehicle causing significant damage. I will use the free ticket as the weather took a turn for the worst meaning the kids couldn't see the meerkats etc but I won't be doing the drive round due to the incident I mentioned. Very expensive so may be worth bringing a packed lunch.

Date of experience : September 05, 2022

Cant contact them to change a booking

I have called for over an hour, emailed and also used their contact forms to make a booking change for their Festive Ice Rink but nobody has responded to me. They seem happy to take your money, but then show very little/no customer care.

Won't be returning even with the free pass

Not worth the journey, we drove for almost 3 hours to get there to then stop start crawl around the safari park for over 2 hours to see a handful of deer, sheep and rhino's. Too many cars crammed in at one time to maximise their profit. Glad we didn't bother paying for the rides, they looked tired and dated very 90's. WMSP know how to squeeze every penny they can out visitors with plenty of shops all around the park selling cheap rubbish at high prices. Even the walk around was a disappointment, hard to find the animals only ones we actually saw were the hippos. Lemur wood was pointless we could have walked around our local wood for the amount of animals we saw. That being zero. Meerkats were cute but the enclosure looked small and tired. Poorly run, clearly interested in making money and not the happiness of their animals or visitors.

Date of experience : August 26, 2023

Good all round experience

After visiting west midlands Safari with the kids, we noticed that many of the enclosures had no animals in (or at least none were visible). There were long ques and there isn't much interaction from any of the animals. The park / ride area was great for the kids however and was well maintained. You do get to return for free within 12 months which we will be using again, but a little more needs to be done on the Safari tour side of the park.

Chaos! Little sitting on a gridlocked motorway

Visited the park on 08th April 23, what absolute chaos. Itā€™s like sitting on a parked motorway in gridlock. No order with people getting into the park with cars crossing each other and literally at a standstill in most parts. Poorly managed with too many cars allowed in at one time. Lots of rhinos and deer but not much else. If anyone ask me to visit again, itā€™s a big fat no! God help driving around in the heat of the summer and with small kids! Nightmare! Absolute chaos!

Date of experience : April 08, 2023

Absolutely Terrible!

What an utter load of rubbish! Qued literally for 3 hours around the safari park just to look at trees and grass maybe the occasional wild animal! You may aswell just look outside don't waste your time!

Do not waste your time

Do not waste your time, literally sat in traffic for 3 hours in the middle of a field. No animals in sight they have these electric gates that make the traffic worse as you queue forever waiting for them to open, it is poorly managed over priced we paid Ā£96 for 3 people and the experience was just a traffic jam and a couple of rhinos. Will never ever return and will be advising everyone I know not to waste their money.

Date of experience : May 01, 2023

Take your check book!!!

The animals/safari was fine, nothing too crazy, I did set my expectations too high I think. The added on prices for everything, like the fair? You would think that would be included in the extortionate pricing, but no! Not forgetting all the other activities, That's extra money, the food and drink is too expensive aslo, Ā£4.50 for a diet coke? 4 hotdogs and chips, Ā£38.80. It's just extortion at the end of the day! I ended up telling them that it's too expensive and cancelled my orders. For a day out for the children, it's far too much money. I certainly won't be going again.

Date of experience : August 18, 2023

No disability awareness at all

No disability awareness at all. Staff were shockingly rude. Caused my autistic son to leave early and self harming. Awful place. The safari itself was awful, huge queues and really boring! Heard other families say the same thing. I won't be visiting again

Date of experience : July 12, 2021

Happy to take money but not help

Before you book. Make sure you are not a minute late. Due to traffic lights we were set back by 3 nins and refused entry to the safari park. You do however get a return ticket so I was like ok we are not completely out of pocket (Ā£140 booking) I asked if we could split our ticket as we are unable to come again together and on both occasions the company was unhelpful. They reply on here like they are willing to help but via email couldn't care less. Its a beautiful safari but they is no room for help should a incident occur. After asking twice for help it's safe to say I'll not be spending any more money on this attraction

Date of experience : January 04, 2023

The slow decline of WMSP

Been to WMSP several times in the last 8 years as the kids enjoyed it, but we've witnessed it gradually go downhill while the price has gone up and up, Animals seem to get less every year and concentration seems around the lodges now so can't see half the animals as the enclosures have been designed to accommodate the lodges and forgot about the drive through experience! Last visit topped it off taking over an hour to get through the last small stretch of the giraffes whoever planned that bit needs their p45! Better off paying less and going to a local zoo for the day instead! If I wanted to be stuck in 2 hours+ of traffic I'd have a day out on the M6! šŸ˜¬

West Midland Safari Park Tiger Lodge review: The most unique luxury experience in the region

We walked in and were immediately wowed. The tiger lodges at West Midland Safari Park are not average hotel rooms.

west midlands safari lodges reviews

After a very brief taxi by Land Rover to the Tiger Tropics section of the park, which certainly adds to the luxurious nature of the experience, we were guided into the two-storey Sembilang Tiger Lodge.

As the door opens, your eyes are immediately drawn to the two enormous windows, which provide an expansive view into the Sumatran tiger habitat.

But the windows and the exciting-but-nerve-wracking prospect of spending the night with just a few inches of glass between you and several ferocious big cats is just the tip of the iceberg.

The lodge is effortlessly stylish. The soft lighting and classic safari decor go a long way to helping you forget that Kidderminster is just down the road. You quite literally could be ā€œon safariā€ in another part of the world.

west midlands safari lodges reviews

And because my family and I were lucky enough to visit during December, the heaters were blasting and there was an immaculately decorated Christmas tree inside. The cosy festive luxury impressed the adults and children in equal measure.

The tiger enclosure itself had recently had a light dusting of snow and, far from being cold and inactive, the tigers were lively and playful in the white stuff. A pair of old world binoculars mean you can spot the animals even when theyā€™re camouflaged in the long bamboo.

After a spot of tiger watching, it was time to explore the rest of the lodge, which is all perfectly designed to make you feel, at least temporarily, like some kind of National Geographic explorer.

There are two tiger-themed bedrooms - one upstairs, one downstairs. Both have their own tiger viewing windows skirted by comfortable cushioned seats, and both have their own bathrooms.

The kitchen is modern and comes with everything you need to enjoy your stay, including a decent pod-based coffee machine and fresh milk in the fridge.

There is a large television in what you might call the lounge, which has access to all the streaming platforms youā€™d expect. While I wasnā€™t interested in catching up with the latest Harry and Meghan episode on Netflix simply because tigers interest me more, it was handy at one point to be able to login to Disney+ for my four-year-old sonā€™s sake. Home Alone always goes down well at this time of year.

Before dinner, which you order prior to your stay and is delivered to your lodge, we decided to go for a short walk to build up an appetite.

A seasonal Lantern Festival kept us busy for an hour as we explored the park in the dark. It was festive and fun, and the experience of being out late among the lights was special for the kids.

west midlands safari lodges reviews

So far so good. Usually youā€™d find something mildly critical to say at this point of a review but Iā€™m afraid I canā€™t conform to the template. Dinner, delivered to our door at the allotted time, was excellent and it would be amiss of me not to recommend the beef burger. The Continental Breakfast the following morning was faultless too.

Cosy and homey is how Iā€™d describe the evening, but the night had a surprise in store.

Having two children, one of them just seven months old, inevitably means at least one overnight wake-up. On this occasion there were several. But this was a blessing in disguise.

As I tried to rock my daughter back to sleep in the lounge area of the lodge, I was a little taken aback to see the tigers roaming around their enclosure in the dark. While I was a little unnerved when I first saw one of the majestic beasts appear out of nowhere and apparently stare at me through the window, it has to be said that there is something special about seeing them in such close proximity at night. It makes you feel privileged, and thatā€™s what the tiger lodge experience is all about.

The tiger lodges are immersive, unique and without a doubt one of the most interesting experiences you can have in the region.

It is possibly true that you're going to need relatively deep pockets and long arms if you want to stay in one of them, but there's surely nothing wrong with something costing what it should.

As lodge guests you're constantly reminded of your special guest status. In the morning, after the aforementioned breakfast, we were treated to a sea lion training session - which take place 365 days a year and are actually important for the animals' welfare - before going to see Santa with the children. It has to be said he was a particularly good Santa. As my son told me afterwards: "Santa was a very nice man."

Overall, The tiger lodge experience at West Midlands Safari Park was as unforgettable as the marketing material claimed it would be, made even more fantastic by the festive extras due to the time of year.

I'd even go so far to say that it may well be one of the best touristy experiences you can have in the entire region, and I haven't even got the word count to relay how enjoyable the actual drive-round safari is.

Save up the money and give it a go.
