The Terra Nova Voyager has been with us for so long, over 20 plus years and testament to good design and Terra Nova brought into the new era of backpacking tents for people who need (real mountain protection) without the excess weight, at 1.9kg with this much space and headroom with sit-up height is a winner. The front vestibule doors zip open at the top to make the perfect window to enjoy the views without the wind whist cooking. The doors and front end of the tent tie completely back to make wide-open shelter to enjoy the stunning mountain views. However, sliding the 3-poles into and through the selves is difficult and tricky made even worse in wet weather as this tent is pitch inner first so things will get socked in wet weather. The length of this tent should be longer for taller people as they will struggle lay down inside without having the inner doors zipped open all the time. The Terra Nova Voyager is my favourite tent of all time. Although, pitching/setting up this tent is a pain trying to get poles through the sleeves made worse when one is tired after 15-20 miles hike. This tent also needs to be made longer in length accommodate people 6 foot tall as its way to short in length. Kindest Regards.

Strong, reliable + roomy all weather shelter used for 1-person trips year round. Easy to pitch inner under fly in rain/ snow after a few dry runs. TN retro fitted couple extra guy points, + rear mesh w/flap at rear of inner.

Some changes have been made through the years which doesn’t improve this classic, but can be overcome. The strap, giving the door some extra space, is gone. The inner is somewhat smaller due to the prebended poles. The footprint, though, is covering the whole area of the tent, making it more sustainable.

I already use the TN Southern Cross 1 but needed something with a little more room/storage space so I purchased this tent for use on a bike-packing adventure totalling 17 consecutive days. I first used the Voyager in Snowdonia on Carnedd Llewelyn, the weather was incredibly windy and wet and the tent performed admirably, the large porch was perfect for storing wet kit and cooking. During the bike-packing trip I found the internal pockets very useful for storing items, a few more would be an improvement, also, the addition of a loop for hanging a light from (it doesn’t have anything). Apart from making the tent a little more ‘liveable’ I cannot fault it, my go-to tent when the weather looks iffy.

For all year round, long duration, but specially for wintercamping, this is an excellent tent. It can withhold the elements with ease, and provides a comfortable environment when needed. Because it is necessary to pitch the inner first, you’ll need the weather to be able to do so.

The classic geodesic design remains, but the weight has been stripped away by using pole clips on the inner and lighter materials. This Superlite version saves weight over its classic brother, without reducing internal or porch space.A minimum weight of 1.7Kg brings the benefits of a geodesic structure to the superlite range. Ventilation is improved by using clips instead of pole sleeves and introducing a large mesh panel to the inner door. Destined to become a firm favourite with anyone who is likely to come across unstable ground, especially sandy or loose soils.

The 2009 Superlite Voyager has a lighter minimum weight and maximum weight.

Fans of all things lightweight will also be pleased to hear that despite being longer and with a taller porch, the Superlite Voyager is now over 300g lighter than previous models and is one third lighter than the classic Voyager.

The semi-geodesic design has proved itself time and again, and the new Superlite Voyager carries on that tradition for anybody travelling in all but the harshest conditions.

Strong and with inproved watershed due to construction design this tent is well deserving of it's Best In Test Awards from both Trail & Mountain and The Great Outdoors Magazine.

Note: Due to the super light nature of the material used in the tents construction Terra Nova are unable to factory seal the seams in a conventional method. However they are positioned and sewn in a way that minimises water penetration and it's possible to add further protection yourself, with seam sealer, to fully waterproof the tent.

[big and tall] NEMO Moto 1P Like most tall campers, our 6’7” tester often sleeps with his feet scrunched against mesh—but he discovered rare comfort in the 109-inch-long Moto. “I could extend my arms behind my head and still not touch either end,” he rejoices. Add XXL dimensions in every other direction—46 inches wide at the head and 27 at the foot, and a 37-inch peak height—and there’s enough space to sprawl comfortably and still store gear inside. And now the really good news: You get all that extra space without extra weight.

That’s a result of several design choices: 1) a tradeoff—in extra-long mode, there’s no vestibule; 2) a weight-saving air beam (in lieu of a pole) provides the main structure; 3) it’s a single-wall; and 4) it’s not freestanding.

Testers deemed the latter three nonissues: Inflating the air beam takes just 30 seconds using the integrated foot pump, condensation never built up, and four stakes achieve a taut pitch—in the Rockies, the Moto prevailed in hammering 35-mph winds. And the former? If you want a vestibule, just roll the floor back to create a 10.5-square-foot one. Bummer: Opening the door during rain allows some drips inside. $330; 2 lbs. 14 oz.
