Royal Caribbean Cruise Deals Guide

When it comes to planning the ultimate getaway, there are so many reasons why cruise vacations rank among the most popular travel options. First of all, they’re completely stress-free. On a cruise vacation, all the planning is taken care of by the cruise line — from the destinations you sail to and the shore excursions available at each port, to a full range of entertainment and activities happening onboard every day. If you’re not a planner, or if the only things you’re looking to focus on during your getaway is savoring great food, relaxing, and soaking up the sights, cruise vacations are the way to go. A cruise vacation is also a great option if you’re traveling with the whole family, especially when you opt for a Royal Caribbean cruise. All of the ships in this cruise line’s fleet offer family-friendly experiences for guests of all ages. Even little ones will find plenty of ways to play with spaces and activities designed for tots to tweens. One of the top reasons savvy travelers love cruising, though, is because of the incredible value it offers. With Royal Caribbean, your cruise fare includes access to most of the ship’s attractions, select dining venues and all of the entertainment onboard. If you want to make your experience even more all-inclusive, you can opt for beverage and specialty dining packages that cover drinks and dinner at some of the most exclusive restaurants in the fleet. On top of all that, the cruise line presents frequent limited-time offers and seasonal sales, making it easy to score big savings when booking your vacation.

I’m ready to start planning my cruise — how can I score the best deals?

Whether you’re looking to book a short getaway or a longer adventure to far-flung destinations, Royal Caribbean makes it easy to save big on everything from your cruise fare to special experiences onboard and onshore. The first step to making sure you get the best deals is to join the cruise line’s email list. Once you’ve signed up, you’ll receive regular updates on all the latest offers, like deals by destination , kids sail free promotions and flash sales. The savings don’t end when you book your cruise, though. Once you’ve made a reservation, you’ll also receive notifications about special offers for onboard experiences — like discounts on beverage and specialty dining packages, shore excursions, spa services, and more via My Royal Cruise .

Does it pay to plan ahead, or should I wait until the last minute?

It’s an age-old question — does the early bird really get the worm, or are there perks to taking a “wait-and-see” approach? If you’re booking a cruise vacation, you’ll find there are benefits to both strategies. Planning ahead is a great way to score big savings , as Royal Caribbean often runs early saver deals to guests booking well in advance. It’s also pretty safe to assume prices usually go up as availability goes down the closer you get to your sail date, so booking ahead is a surefire way to lock in a great rate. That said, booking a cruise at the last minute can also yield some unexpected savings — but only if the itinerary you’re interested in hasn’t sold out yet.

If you can be flexible when it comes to your travel dates, you’ll have your pick of unbeatable savings. Popular vacation dates — like the holidays , spring break , summer vacation and week long cruises — sometimes see the highest prices (though you might get lucky with a seasonal sale). If you have the flexibility to travel during the shoulder season or off season, you’ll likely enjoy big savings on popular stateroom categories , like Balconies and even Suites. The deals don’t only apply to your cruise fare, though. Once you’ve booked your vacation, you could easily unlock discounts and specials on add-ons, including beverage and dining packages , Voom® high speed internet, shore excursions, and amazing experiences not included in your cruise fare — like a day of pampering at Vitality SM Spa, a behind-the-scenes tour of the ship’s galley followed by brunch, VIP seating at shows, and much more.

How can I maximize the value of my cruise vacation?

There are plenty of ways to get more bang for your buck when you sail on a Royal Caribbean cruise. Every ship in the fleet offers a range of delicious complimentary dining options , but you can dig into even more crave-worthy flavor by purchasing a Specialty Dining Package for less ahead of your cruise. Add a Specialty Beverage Package — which includes unlimited alcoholic beverages, soda, and more — and your experience is as close to all-inclusive as it gets. And with so many complimentary shows and attractions onboard, you can easily fill every sea day without spending a single dollar extra.

Royal Caribbean also offers deals based on departure ports  and destinations, so if you’re a flexible traveler looking for great savings, you can plan your next vacation around which itineraries are on sale. Just check your email or visit RoyalCaribbean.com/cruise-deals to stay up to date on promotions, sales and special offers. You can even browse sailings and deals by homeport, destination and season, so you can rest assured you’re getting the best possible deal no matter when or where in the world you choose to set sai.

Cruising Russia

How can you experience Russia thoroughly in one trip? How do you take a photo of a famous landmark that cannot be found online or in a travel guide? There is only one answer – go on a river cruise. After all, rivers are the great arteries of Russian largest and magnificent cities.

Here are the key advantages of a river cruise:

A cruise ship travels up to 400 kilometers a day. During your trip, you can watch forests turn to open fields and green hills. When you come ashore during stops, you are in the very places of Russian history.

You are about to visit between 3 and 20 cities depending on the duration of a voyage. Only a ship can take you to the solitary islands of Karelia - Valaam, and Kizhi, as well as to the Solovetsky Islands in the White Sea. No matter your itinerary, a kaleidoscope of memorable experiences and dozens of extraordinary photos are guaranteed.

A cruise ship is one of the most comfortable ways to travel. There is no need to plan your journey within Russia or worry about accommodations or meals. Relax and let us take care of everything. Just imagine: modern and inviting cabins, restaurants with a varied selection of meals, bars, and on-board entertainment program. Onshore, experienced guides are ready to provide tours in English.

6 Reasons Why You Should Take a Cruise

It's such a relief when you don't have to worry about the logistics of your holiday! A cruise is a convenient way to visit multiple destinations whilst avoiding all the anxiety that can come with dealing with local hotels, restaurants and transportation. There's no more driving around in the middle of the night looking for a hotel, no maps to follow and no need to worry about finding a decent restaurant.

More importantly, a cruise holiday allows you to unpack and get settled in your cabin without the hassle of having to move your belongings as you generally would when you're visiting multiple destinations. To me, there's nothing more annoying than just getting settled in to a hotel, and then having to pack up everything once again, all in the name of travelling to the next destination.

According to CLIA, taking a cruise may be beneficial for your health! Besides options for healthy dining, down time/activities, relaxation and socialization. There's nothing better for your health than feeling happy.

A cruise is a vacation that offers great value for your money! You will pay one flat fee which maximizes your hard earned holiday dollars, plus a cruise includes meals and quality on board entertainment. Also, all shore excursions are already included in the price.

Whatever your age or activity level, you’re sure to find onboard options to keep yourself busy, or not, as it’s totally up to you. On board you will find everything from restaurants to yoga classes. Are you wondering about your kids? A children’s club for young travelers will keep them occupied!

Today’s cruise experience is a completely customizable to offer whatever you are looking for as a variety of things to do include both on board and on shore. You're in complete control: you pick the cruise destination that offers the ports of call you want to visit. You do not have to worry about the hassle of not speaking a language or trying to figure out foreign currency exchange rates. S-Cruises is constantly adding ports to their itineraries providing even more choices for your cruising pleasure.

Cruises allow you to venture into the very heart of Russia, with its traditions and rich culture. Russia's most important waterways: the Volga River, the famous Ladoga, Onega, and even Baikal lakes are waiting to be discovered!

Royal Caribbean's family-friendly private island is about to get more crowded with Gen Xers

  • Celebrity Cruises will sail to Royal Caribbean's Perfect Day at CocoCay for the first time.
  • The cruise lines target different demographics, but the business case is solid.
  • The private island is scheduled on 47 of Celebrity's itineraries this year.

Insider Today

Royal Caribbean's family-friendly private island is about to get a bit more crowded — with Gen Xers.

On April 21, Gen X-beloved Celebrity Cruises will voyage to Royal Caribbean International's Perfect Day at CocoCay for the first time, marking the start of a Celebrity-CocoCay bonanza: The premium cruise line plans to visit the family-friendly getaway 47 more times before the end of the year.

According to Celebrity, these itineraries will both double its year-round Caribbean offerings and launch its first weekend cruises . And travelers are hyped: A handful of these sailings are halfway or close to selling out.

Fares start at about $277 per person for a three-day roundtrip cruise from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in which the Caribbean island is the only destination on the itinerary.

Travelers familiar with Celebrity and CocoCay might be scratching their heads

Royal Caribbean and Celebrity share the same parent company, Royal Caribbean Group .

For the most part, that's where their similarities end.

Royal Caribbean's private island is a tropical dream for cruising families dotted with sprawling beaches, clubs, a zipline, and a waterpark. The private destination is colorful, loud, kid-friendly, and generally the antithesis of what travelers might find on Celebrity's ships.

Celebrity's stylish vessels do offer children and teen programming. But if you want the exciting water slides, fun rides, and rock climbing walls of the popular mass-market ships, you're better off looking elsewhere.

Compared to Royal Caribbean's ships, Celebrity is best if you want to be on a premium, trendy, and more subdued cruise.

Related stories

If it's not obvious, the two brands are vying for different guests. Royal Caribbean goes after multi-generational families, while Celebrity's target demographic is Gen Xers, Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, the then-CEO of Celebrity Cruises, told Business Insider in 2021.

Celebrity sails to 300 ports on all seven continents — why this sudden push for the private Caribbean island?

In short, cruisers love Celebrity's upcoming Caribbean destination .

Last year, Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International, told analysts that CocoCay had seen robust demand, including from repeat travelers.

About two-thirds of Royal Caribbean's Caribbean-bound guests will stop at CocoCay this year. And most of them aren't complaining: "The vast majority of people love the islands," Patrick Scholes, a lodging and leisure research analyst at Truist Securities, told Business Insider in March.

But for the two brands' parent company, there are more benefits to private island cruising besides guest satisfaction.

CocoCay is one night's sailing from Florida's major cruise ports, reducing the visiting ships' fuel consumption and costs.

More importantly, these private destinations keep more profits in-house.

A day pass to CocoCay's waterpark can exceed $100 per person. Entry to the recently opened Hideaway Beach costs up to $89 per person. Nearby, an afternoon at the more luxurious Coco Beach Club could be shy of triple that cost.

Even the complimentary parts of the island have splurge-enticing amenities like rentable cabanas and snorkeling gear. And because there's no need to rely on other excursion operators, Celebrity's parent company gets to pocket more profits.

Most of Celebrity's 2024 cruises to CocoCay will be on two of its largest ships: the 3,849-guest Celebrity Beyond and 3,480-guest Celebrity Reflection. That's plenty of guests ready to spend big on the popular private island.

But that doesn't mean Celebrity cruisers will be fighting kids for beach chairs

It is possible to escape the hoards of families at Perfect Day at CocoCay. For example, the new Hideaway Beach is rowdy, boozy, and thankfully adult-only.

While not kid-free, on the other side of the island, the Oasis Lagoon pool has become the de facto hot spot for afternoon ragers "packed with intoxicated people having a really good time" on one end, and children on the other end, Bayley told reporters in late January.

If nothing else, at least there won't be any kids drinking at the island's more than 10 bars.

UConn beats Purdue and cruises to sixth NCAA championship

Seth Greenberg and Jay Williams laud Dan Hurley and UConn after they beat Purdue 75-60 to secure back-to-back national titles. (1:13)

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- On paper, the plan wasn't working.

Zach Edey had 14 points, the reigning Wooden Award winner was talking trash to Dan Hurley and the UConn bench, and Purdue led the Huskies with 8 minutes left in the first half.

UConn had elected to guard Edey one-on-one with Donovan Clingan , essentially allowing him to score at will, while focusing most of their defensive attention on the Boilermakers' other players. Edey was dominating UConn's projected lottery pick center like nobody else had all season.

But UConn, as it has done consistently over the past two years, stayed the course and trusted its game plan. Edey couldn't beat the Huskies by himself, and his teammates weren't doing much to help.

The floodgates opened for UConn in the second half, and the Huskies ultimately beat Purdue 75-60, winning their second straight men's national championship and becoming the first team to go back-to-back since Florida in 2006 and 2007.

"What could you say?" UConn coach Dan Hurley said. "We won -- by a lot again."

And after one of the most dominant NCAA tournament runs in history last year, when UConn beat its six opponents by 20.0 points per game, it was even more unbeatable this year. The Huskies' average scoring margin in their six 2024 NCAA tournament wins was 23.3 points.

Once again, all six wins came by double digits -- making that 12 straight NCAA tournament wins by at least 10 points dating back to last season.

"I think it's up there in terms of the greatest two-year runs that a program maybe has ever had," Hurley said. "I just think it's the best two-year run I think in a very, very long time just because of everything we lost from last year's team. To lose that much, and again, to do what we did again, it's got to be as impressive a two-year run as a program's had since prior to whoever did it before Duke . To me, it's more impressive than what Florida and Duke did because they brought back their entire teams. We lost some major players."

Purdue was expected to be UConn's most difficult test in two years. The Boilermakers were arguably the second-best team in the country all season, boasted the best player in the college basketball and were a connected group that also happened to be the second-best 3-point shooting team in the nation.

The numbers supported the Huskies' decision to focus most of their defensive effort on Purdue's complementary players. In Purdue's wins this season, Edey averaged 24.9 points. In Purdue's losses, Edey averaged 25.0 points. The 7-foot-4 center was going to get his production regardless.

As a result, the much-anticipated matchup between Edey and Clingan was one-sided in the early minutes of the game. Edey short-armed his first shot over Clingan, hitting the front rim. For the next 11 minutes, though, he did whatever he wanted against UConn's big man. He scored over Clingan, absorbed contact to finish through Clingan, and even caught a lob and dunked against Clingan.

Purdue was getting Edey the ball in good position, and he was scoring consistently.

After he scored his 13th and 14th points with 8:07 left in the first half to give Purdue a 2-point lead, he looked over at the UConn bench and exchanged a few words with Hurley as the two teams jogged back to their respective huddles at the media timeout.

"I got a couple looks," joked Huskies assistant coach Luke Murray, who was assigned to scout and plan for Purdue in preparation for Monday's game.

"Their offensive efficiency numbers really don't fluctuate that much depending on whether he's really good or great or excellent. Where it really starts to change is when [Fletcher] Loyer , [Braden] Smith and [Lance] Jones and [Mason] Gillis and those guys make 3s. ... We felt if Zach had a great game and we did a great job of holding those other guys in check, that we'd have a really good shot to win."

After Edey's opening salvo, though, he struggled for a long stretch, and Purdue couldn't keep up with the Huskies. He made just one field goal in the next 14:28 as UConn turned a 2-point deficit into a 9-point lead.

UConn tasked freshman Stephon Castle , who had previously helped shut down Northwestern 's Boo Buie and Illinois ' Terrence Shannon Jr. earlier in the tournament, with pressuring Purdue point guard Smith, while veteran guards Tristen Newton and Cam Spencer looked to keep Purdue's perimeter players from getting clean looks.

The Boilermakers attempted just two 3-pointers in the first half and seven in the game, with the lone made 3 coming when Smith had to put up a desperation jumper with the shot clock winding down in the first half.

"We watched the film," Newton said. "They get their 3-pointers off, people going down there and helping on Edey. They did a great job game planning and made sure it was a focus that we didn't leave the 3-point line and let Edey do his damage. He only shoots 2s. He doesn't shoot 3s. If he makes 15 2s like he did today, that's 30. Where are the rest of the points going to come from?"

"I just think it's the best two-year run I think in a very, very long time just because of everything we lost from last year's team. To lose that much, and again, to do what we did again, it's got to be as impressive a two-year run as a program's had since prior to whoever did it before Duke. To me, it's more impressive than what Florida and Duke did because they brought back their entire teams. We lost some major players." UConn coach Dan Hurley

"The coaches made a point that we'd be really locked in if we could control their 3-point attempts," Spencer added. "I think holding them to seven, we were just really locked in on not letting those other guys get involved in the game."

Purdue briefly threatened UConn early in the second half, when Camden Heide had an aggressive put-back dunk to cut the lead to seven and when Edey scored four straight points to cut the lead to nine. But the Huskies constantly countered with key shots when it mattered and led by double-digits for nearly 15 minutes in the second half.

They became the third team to win multiple title games by 15-plus points and just the second team to do it in consecutive years, joining UCLA 's three-year run from 1967 to 1969, according to ESPN Stats & Information research.

"To win [by] double digits these past two years, it's just a tribute to our culture here," forward Alex Karaban said. "We're never satisfied. We're always hungry. We're always going to go on runs and we're always going to continue to play hard to where we're going to break the other team. No team practices like us, no team goes as hard as us. It showed in the second half."

Newton won the NCAA tournament's Most Outstanding Player award after finishing with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists -- the second time he has been UConn's best player in the championship game. In the 2023 title game win over San Diego State, Newton went for 19 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists.

Castle continued his stellar postseason, finishing with 15 points and 5 rebounds after tallying 21 points and 5 rebounds against Alabama in the semifinals.

Edey had 37 points for the most points scored in a losing effort in the national championship game.

While last year's fifth championship seemingly settled the debate around UConn's blue-blood status, going back-to-back for the Huskies' sixth title in 26 years puts the program in truly rarified air. Only six other schools have produced back-to-back men's basketball champions, and UConn is now tied for third all time with six championships.

"We're going to try to replicate it again. We're going to maintain a championship culture," Hurley said.

"I don't think that we're going anywhere."

Jalen Green has 26 points and Houston cruises to 116-107 win over Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) Jalen Green had 26 points and the Houston Rockets spoiled Portland's final game at home this season with a 116-107 victory Friday night.

Share Video

Jock Landale had 20 points and Aaron Holiday came of the bench to score 18 for Houston, which had already been eliminated from playoff contention. Rookie Amen Thompson had 17 points and 15 rebounds for the Rockets, playing the second of a back-to-back.

“I was just trying to go hard, bounce back after last night. I felt the team, we brought the energy today, so it was good," Thompson said, reflecting on a lackluster loss to the Jazz the night before.

Scoot Henderson had 30 points for the Trail Blazers , who have lost four in a row and 14 of their last 16 with one game left. Portland was second-to-last in the Western Conference.

Houston (40-41) led by 20 points in the third quarter but the Blazers narrowed it to 82-73 on Henderson's dunk and free throw. Henderson added a step-back jumper to get Portland closer.

Cam Whitmore's 3-pointer early in the fourth quarter extended Houston's lead to double digits again and the Rockets cruised the rest of the way.

“It was a little slow to start, but we had a good second quarter,” Rockets coach Ime Udoka said. “A lot of guys stepped up did a lot of good things.”

The Rockets were without Fred VanVleet because of a right hip contusion. VanVleet has averaged 17.4 points with a career-high 8.1 assists. He scored a season-high 42 points Thursday in a 124-121 loss to the Utah Jazz.

Thompson, who also had six assists, helped pick up the slack.

“I love experiences like that, getting to develop in different positions, point guard, everything,” he said.

Portland (21-60) had shut down many of its regular starters earlier this month, including Anfernee Simons (left knee tendonitis), Jerami Grant (right hamstring) and Matisse Thybulle (right ankle). The Blazers were coming off a 100-92 loss to the Warriors the night before.

The game showcased a trio of rookies, Portland's Henderson and Houston's Thompson and Whitmore, who finished with 11 points.

“I was happy to see him come in and really dominate the game today and take care of the ball. One turnover. That was my big takeaway for him, especially against a team like that, that pressures and turns you over, and plays physical,” Blazers coach Chauncey Billups said about Henderson.

Henderson's bank shot gave the Blazers a 16-9 lead in the first quarter but the Rockets closed the gap to 24-23 to start the second.

The Rockets went on a 16-5 run, capped by Thompson's basket that gave Houston a 41-29 lead. Henderson hit a 3-pointer from midcourt to slow the momentum, but the Rockets led 54-50 at the half.

Dillon Brooks' 3-pointer gave the Rockets a 62-42 lead in the third quarter. Green got tangled up with Moses Brown, who appeared to inadvertently step on his foot late in the quarter. Green left the court but returned midway through the fourth quarter.

Rockets: Close out the season on the road against the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday.

Trail Blazers: Visit Sacramento on Sunday for the final game of the season.

Why a major Miami cruise company has canceled over a dozen international trips for 2025

M iami-based Norwegian Cruise Line has canceled at least 14 cruises on 7 ships in 2025 as a booming industry confronts global conflict and other issues.

The cancellations include trips in May and September on Norwegian Viva, the company’s newest ship, and ones in April through June on Norwegian Sky, which frequently sails from PortMiami.

Norwegian said customers who are affected will get a full refund and a 10% discount on future sailings through Dec. 31, 2025.

In a statement, the company said that the cancellations “are a result of varied events, including the ongoing situation in the Red Sea and Israel, modified dry dock schedules for ship enhancements, a full ship charter, and lastly, to accommodate the demand for shorter close-to-home voyages to the Bahamas.”

Suspended trips include the Norwegian Jade from Feb. 20 through March 24, 2025. That ship often departs from Port Canaveral.

Norwegian remains optimistic about cruising. This week, the company ordered eight new ships, its largest ever single purchase, a milestone celebrated at Seatrade Cruise Global, a four-day annual industry conference at the Miami Beach Convention Center. They will be delivered between 2026 and 2036.

Since the terror group Hamas attacked Israel and the Gaza war started in October, cruise companies have been canceling trips to the Middle East.

Next year’s cruise cancellations affect passengers of the Norwegian Epic, Norwegian Sky, and Norwegian Viva.

A March 28 letter to passengers said: “We have been monitoring the situation in Israel, and despite our best hopes that it would de-escalate, we have made the decision to alter published itineraries that transit through and around the region.”

For Epic, the decision was made “in order to reroute her and accommodate the early start to her Caribbean cruise season.”

The Sky will be rerouted around Africa and deployed to Eastern, Western, and Southern Africa, a letter to those passengers said.

Viva is being sent to the Mediterranean, passengers were told in a letter.

Despite any security risks, major airlines including United and Delta have said they will resume flights to Israel. Next week, El Al resumes non-stop service between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Tel Aviv twice a week. The Israeli airline continues to offer five flights a week from Miami International Airport.

Norwegian in its statement said the cruise company remains committed to taking its guests to “some of the most sought-out destinations around the world.” But sometimes, itineraries need to be modified to “accommodate certain circumstances.”

Other reasons for the cruise changes

But security in the Middle East isn’t the only reason for the changes.

The Norwegian Star canceled because of a “full ship charter.” That means a private organization offered to rent out the whole ship for an entire trip.

The Norwegian Spirit underwent a planned renovation in less time than anticipated, and so now wants to use that time for a longer trip. “As the renovation period will be complete prior to schedule, we now have the opportunity to enhance the originally scheduled January 21, 2025 itinerary, and offer a longer and more immersive experience,” it told guests in a letter.

Meanwhile the canceled sailings on the Norwegian Jade from Feb. 20 through March 25 is “part of a fleet redeployment to accommodate strong demand for cruises through the Panama Canal and to the Bahamas,” the company wrote in a letter to passengers.
