Given the improvement in relations between the U.S. and Cuba, the largest island in the Caribbean, 2017 has seen an explosion in cruising options for Americans. In fact, the Princess and I are making our

Norwegian sky.

The Princess and I decided to book Norwegian Sky for our first visit to Cuba for a few different reasons. First and foremost, this four day trip from Miami, starting at $529 per person , includes an overnight in Havana. At the time of our booking, NCL was the only cruise line offering this option. Norwegian Sky also stops at the cruise line’s private island Great Stirrup Cay for a full day, which we have never visited. Like all mainstream cruise lines, Norwegian Cruise Line also offers shore excursions that comply with the people-to-people travel regulations that allow Americans to visit the island, and they will even take care of your visa for you at an additional charge.

Norwegian Sky offers the signature Freestyle cruise experience found fleet-wide, and nightly entertainment can be found throughout the ship. What separates this ship from other’s in the fleet is the inclusion of an “open bar”. That’s right, your cruise fare is truly “all inclusive”, covering a wide range of beers, wines, and mixed drinks. So, you can relax at one of the 10 onboard bars as you sip a cocktail and relive the amazing encounters you had during the day alongside the new friends you have made on the ship.

Empress of the Seas

Royal Caribbean brought this ship back into the fleet for one reason- to sail to Cuba. Offering one of the most extensive list of options for a contemporary cruise line, Empress of the Seas offers 4, 5, and 6 night cruises this year . Departing from Tampa, FL until the winter of this year when the ship moves to Miami, you now have options that include day stops and overnight stops in Havana, Cuba. Longer voyages couple stops to this island with other ports including Key West and Cozumel, Mexico. Cruises start at $429 per person for the four night cruises.

While the smallest in Royal Caribbean’s current fleet at 48.5K gross tons, the ship still packs plenty of signature Royal Caribbean options that those loyal to royal have come to love about the brand. Similar to other ships, Empress of the Seas has a rock climbing wall, high speed VOOM internet, Chops Grill steakhouse, and even a Boleros night club, allowing Royal Caribbean fans to feel right at home on this vessel.

Carnival Paradise

With news of this addition to Cuba more recently, Carnival Paradise is the new kid on the block. This ship will offer 4 and 5 night cruises leaving from Tampa, FL, starting at $469 a person . Both options include an overnight stay in Havana, giving you a full day and a half to explore. Similar to other cruise lines, Carnival offers a somewhat more extensive list of shore excursions that adhere to the guidelines of people-to-people travel. Of course, you can find your own appropriate on-land activities as well. For those wanting a longer vacation, the five day itineraries include a stop in Cozumel, Mexico as well.

Carnival Paradise contains many of the popular venues and attractions that make the cruise line a popular choice for families. With a waterslide, Seuss at Sea, and other kid friendly venues, this is one ship your kids will love. With a spa, adults only pool area, and plenty of bars, this ship is perfectly suited for mom and dad too. Offering a variety of complimentary dining options and nighttime shows fit for all ages, Carnival Paradise might be the perfect ship for families traveling to Cuba.

Celeystal Cruises

Celeystal Crystal departs from both Havana, Cuba and Montego Bay, Jamaica. With the policy changes that took place in 2016, U.S. citizens can now book a week long cruise leaving from either port . This 9 deck ship is one of the smaller ships sailing in the region (25K gross tons) and can carry up to 1,200 guests on the weekly voyages. With casual and formal dining options, several bars and lounges, a casino, and even a spa, the ship features all of the amenities you would expect from a larger mainstream cruise ship, while giving passengers a more intimate onboard experience.

When you book directly with the cruise line, you are automatically enrolled in the correct people-to-people programming that meets U.S. travel regulations for approved trips to Cuba. Wow, that was easy! Once you are booked, you can sit back and relax as everything is taken care of for you. All of your shore excursions and onboard enrichment are coordinated for you by the cruise line. Calling on three ports in Cuba and one in Jamaica, you will get to visit 6 UNESCO World Heritage sites, along with several national parks, making this trip one of the most informative and extensive cruises to Cuba currently offered.

Oceania Cruises

If you are looking for an intimate and luxurious way to see all of Cuba, then you will want to invest in a trip with Oceania Cruises. Debuting in November of this year on the Oceania Insignia and offering several cruises in Spring of 2018 on the Oceania Sirena, you can explore the island in style during a 7 or 8 night cruise. These voyages offer the opportunity for you to engage with the locals and engross yourself in the history and culture while visiting three of the island’s major cities- Havana, Cienfuegos, and Santiago de Cuba.

Sailing with Oceania means you are wrapped in luxury for the duration of your trip. All cruises include shore excursions at each port, a drink package, and onboard credit. Specialty dining is also included, as are specialty coffees, soft drinks, and other beverages. You will also have unlimited use of the onboard Spa to help you relax and unwind after a long day of exploration on the island. With prices starting at $1199 per person, these cruises might be one of the best in the region.

Cuba Cruises

What can I expect on a cruise to Cuba?

  • Cuban culture: It’s more than cigars, sugar, and rum. Cuba has a vibrant, exciting culture, from the dramatic dance moves of mambo and rumba to the spicy flavors of ropa vieja and mojo marinade.
  • Shore excursions: If you need help planning , simply book a tour and let the tour guides show you around. Old Havana (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), the former home of famed author Ernest Hemingway, and Almacenes San José Artisans Market are just a few of the sights you’ll see.
  • Great cruise deals: We  offer the best prices on Cuban cruises, plus special offers like shore  excursion discounts, on-board credits, and free Wi-Fi.

Where can I visit on a Cuba cruise?

  • Key West: The Florida  Keys are the essence of laid-back, tropical vibes, and Key West is their  capital. Wander among pastel houses and snorkel or dive the coral reefs at this  popular cruise destination .
  • Ocho Rios: You can’t  resist this northern coastal town’s dramatic waterfalls, coastline, and  rainforest—not to mention the pristine beach.
  • Grand Cayman: Shop ’til you drop in glitzy George Town and lounge on Seven Mile Beach with the rich and famous. It’s no wonder that this Caribbean island is a popular stop for cruise ships visiting Cuba.
  • Western Caribbean:  Other cruise destinations in the Western Caribbean include the sparkling waters  of Cozumel and the Mayan ruins of Costa Maya, Mexico, and the famed diving of  Roatan, Honduras, home to the world’s second largest coral reef.

Which cruise ship to Cuba is  right for me?

  • Royal Caribbean: You  can’t go wrong with a cruise  line that has “Caribbean” in the name, right? Add in a great ship name  like Empress of the Seas ,  and you know you’re in for a legendary good time.
  • Norwegian  Cruise Line: Offering 4- and 5-day cruises to Cuba departing from Miami,  Florida, the Norwegian Sun  and Norwegian Sky cruise  ships are great options for those who just want a quick itinerary.
  • MSC  Cruises: Cruise with a touch of luxury on this Swiss cruise line’s  Caribbean ship, the MSC  Armonia . Kids 11 and younger sail free, but with adults-only pools and 24-hour  room service, this line appeals to all ages.

We embarked on the ship quickly and our room was ready as soon as we boarded the ship, Our luggage was waiting for us when we boarded. The excursions were all great. We are a 40'ish couple from Texas traveling without our kids. We chose the cruise to get to visit Cuba and had it booked before the latest change in June that Americans cannot travel to Cuba, so cruise ships would not longer be able to stop there. My wife and I are regular cruisers upon Princess Cruise Lines and would like to visit Cuba. Does anyone have any insights into Princess beginning to offer port visits to Cuba? We know that Carnival offers cruises to Cuba but we prefer Princess.

Have no interest in visiting there. I think the visits to Cuba have gotten harder under the current administration. Cruises were supposed to be "culture" in nature and required working with the Cuban people. Checkout so called FUSION cruises

I am hopeful that Princess will go to Cuba in the not to distant future. I went for Memorial Day on RC and LOVED it. I want to go back soon but this time on Princess, as she is my line of choice! No real changes for Cruise Lines with the revamping of rules last month

At this point it did not work for Carnival/Fathom so I sure hope Princess does not consider it ( I doubt they will as Carnival Corp is the parent company)..

The country is not prepared.

Several lines are already cruising there so it may not make sense for Princess to join the fray. From what I have seen in trying to book one many of the ships are sold out or near capacity. Airlines are cutting back flights because they over-estimated demand but the supply of cabins on cruise ships sailing to Cuba is only slightly outpacing demand.

Holland America will be sailing starting in 2018. Closest to Princess that I've been on. I booked NCL for September cruise before HAL started scheduling cruises.

I also booked Holland America for Cuba in February 2018. There is a stop in Havana and a stop in Cienfuegos. I have never been on Holland America, but have been wanting to try it. Since Princess does not go to Cuba, this was my chance to try Holland America. I like that their ships (at least the older ones) are smaller and carry less passengers.

I went to Cuba last year on Fathom and enjoyed it very much. However the Fathom Adonia stressed the tourist infrastructure. I would love to take a cruise on the Pacific Princess with a stop in Cuba, but I would be hesitant with any of the larger ships.

azbirdmom

Carnival made its first voyage there last week and they have a few more cruises planned to Cuba this year. Would love to go but agree that I would prefer to go on Princess.

AtlantaCruiser72

Fathom failed more due to the high cost of operations for the Adonia. The Cuba cruises sold at relatively high fares but they had to basically give away the Dominican Republic "Vouluntousim" itineraries. The DR cruises were often being sold for as little as $199pp for a 7 day sailing. Carnival Corp quickly cut its losses by returning Adonia to P&O and moving to place the Carnival Paradise into the market.

NCL, Carnival and Royal Caribbean seem to be filling their ships at decent fares and so much so NCL just announced a second ship for the Cuba market, this time the Norwegian Sun from Port Canaveral.

With Oceania, Azamara and Regent competing in the premium/luxury segment and Holland in the mainstream segment I don't think that Carnival Corporation sees a need to try and deploy a Princess ship to Cuba.

Also at this point I'm not sure there is any open dock space in Havana, which is the Primary port being visited.

Most Princess ships are too big to dock in Cuba ports. I do not know now feasible tendering would be. And the number of passengers on most of the ships Princess sails in that area would overwhelm all of the Cuba ports' tourist infrastructure.

The Fathom cruises spent several days at various Cuba ports. The NCL, Carnival and RCI itineraries spent just one day in Cuba or at most an overnight in one city, quite different from the all Cuba itinerary on Fathom.

SteelMagnolia9

I went with family on RCI Empress of the Seas from Tampa, Fl to Havana & Key West earlier this month and had a wonderful trip. It's a small ship and perfect for the itinerary.

I've started looking at a Bermuda cruise and discovered Princess doesn't sail there, although many others do.

One of the reasons the cost for Cuba cruises on Fathom was high was that shores excursions were included in the pricing which also included lunch in the different cities. There were a few optional extra cost excursions but basically in each city there were included excursions.

I will share my husband's and my personal experience of our recent trip to Cuba on NCL Sky. We were on the cruise as part of a family member's birthday celebration. This was our first time on NCL and we personally did not enjoy the ship. I know that there are avid NCL cruisers out there, just as there are cruisers loyal to Princess or any other line, but having sailed so much with Princess, we were disappointed in the Sky. The ship was docked in Havana for two days and we took ship sponsored shore excursions, only because the relatives we were traveling with were not seasoned cruisers and therefore did not inquire or research private tour companies and as such, we opted to tour together and therefore paid much more for excursions than we would have done had we been on our own. Our first experience in getting off the ship was not a pleasant one. The immigration officers were very rude and this was not a good first impression. The washrooms in the terminal also had no toilet paper and I don't mean that they were just out of paper - there were no dispensers at all and I wonder how the staff expect someone to use the toilets without cleaning up. Hmmm? Our first guide was a young fellow who was taking us on a walking tour of the older section of Havana. He had a mic on him but it wasn't loud enough to compete with the street noise and having a large group made it near to impossible to hear him. We encountered beggars at every turn and that got to be a nuisance after a while. They are very insistent and although I acknowledge that Cuba is a poor country and people need to make a living, it was hard to proceed without them being in your personal space. Our guide pointed out mostly places that were shops or hotels and at one point took us into a shop selling cigars, rum and coffee. We got the impression that he most likely got a cut from what we bought as at one point he was behind the counter helping ring up the purchases. Aside from his presentation, we enjoyed the architecture of the old buildings and did learn a bit about the culture and people. Our second tour was mostly by bus and was hosted by a wonderful young lady who was clearly proud of her country and heritage. We saw the newer areas of Havana as well as some of the older ones and we enjoyed her tour tremendously. We also enjoyed a Parisien Cabaret one evening at the Hotel Nationale. Amazing show! Our third day of the cruise was spent at a private island in the Bahamas and then back to Miami for our return flight home. Are we glad that we went - YES. Cuba was definitely an interesting experience but we feel no desire to return there nor would we cruise on NCL again. I apologize in advance for the negativity but this was just my personal experience.

Wow, very interesting matamanoa! I don't consider your comments negativity, very realistic based on your first hand experience

Were you able to walk on your own? Or were you only take to areas that they wanted you to see? Did you see any Cuban every day life?

matamanoa   Were you able to walk on your own? Or were you only take to areas that they wanted you to see? Did you see any Cuban every day life?

We never left the ship on our own but there were others who did get off and wander about town during the day. At the end of one of the tours I was on, people who wanted to go to the flea market and then walk back on their own to the ship were dropped off at the market and made their way back to the ship themselves. People would tell us that they felt very safe walking around the area where the ship was docked but after our tours, we used the time to relax on the ship and didn't feel the need to go back out on our own. We never talked to anyone who had gotten off in the evening to go off by themselves. I, personally would not have gone out at night, but that's just me. On our tours, we saw the good areas and the not so good. There are many derelict buildings, some that are abandoned and some still have people living in them. I believe that the country is trying to put on a brave face for the tourists but I also got the impression that things are not going to improve for the Cubans anytime soon.

When President Obama announced an opening with the start of diplomatic relations, we thought that perhaps a new era of Cuban-American relations would be in order. However, Cuba has remained a police state, of even more concern, there military and secret service is apparently propping up the regeime in Venezuela. With that being said, I rather spend my money in Puertro Rico or the Virgin Islands. Just an opinion.
Exactly! Not a good place to patronize at this time and I think it will get worse if that's possible. :(

Yes harboring COP killers. Great logic. Enjoy yourself.

Not sure what this has to do with allowing people to visit a destination that the rest of the world can visit freely should they chose, but since you started - harbouring a wanted terrorist charged with blowing up an airliner... See people who live in glasshouses shouldn't throw stones...

The cruise industry in Cuba has a long and colorful history. Prior to the Cuban Revolution in 1959, Cuba was a favorite destination among American tourists, with luxury liners like the SS United States and the RMS Empress of Canada regularly making stops in Havana. However, after the revolution, the relationship between the United States and Cuba became strained, leading to a decline in tourism and a halt in cruise ship visits.

It wasn’t until 2016 that the Cuban government, under the leadership of President Raul Castro, decided to open its ports to cruise ships once again. This move was a part of the government’s strategy to boost the country’s tourism industry and promote economic development. The decision to allow cruise ships to visit Cuba was met with great enthusiasm from both cruise industry stakeholders and travelers eager to explore this previously restricted destination.

Since then, the cruise industry in Cuba has experienced a rapid expansion. A number of major cruise lines, including Carnival Corporation, Royal Caribbean, and Norwegian Cruise Line, have introduced itineraries that include stops in Havana and other Cuban ports. These cruise lines have worked closely with the Cuban government to ensure compliance with the necessary regulations and to create unique experiences for their passengers.

One of the reasons behind the popularity of cruising to Cuba is the convenience it offers. Traveling by cruise ship allows passengers to visit multiple destinations in Cuba without the need for constant packing and unpacking. Cruise lines often offer a variety of shore excursions, allowing passengers to experience the highlights of each port of call. From cultural and historical tours to beach outings and culinary experiences, there is something for everyone.

Another factor contributing to the growth of the Cuban cruise industry is the allure of experiencing the country’s unique culture. Cuba is known for its vibrant music, dance, and art scene, and cruise passengers have the opportunity to immerse themselves in this cultural richness while exploring the local markets, visiting art galleries, and attending live performances. Additionally, the Cuban people are renowned for their warmth and hospitality, making interactions with the locals a memorable part of the cruise experience.

Cuba’s cruise market opening

The opening of Cuba’s cruise market in recent years has been a game-changer for both the country and the cruise industry. The Cuban government’s decision to welcome cruise ships has not only created new opportunities for economic growth but has also offered travelers a unique and exciting way to explore this captivating destination.

The easing of travel restrictions between the United States and Cuba in 2015 was a significant driver in the opening of Cuba’s cruise market. Previously, American citizens were only able to visit Cuba through specific authorized travel categories. However, with the relaxation of these restrictions, American tourists were given the chance to experience the beauty and culture of Cuba more freely.

Major cruise lines quickly seized this opportunity and began to develop itineraries that included stops in Cuba. With its proximity to Florida, Cuba became an attractive and accessible destination for cruise travelers, particularly those departing from ports such as Miami, Tampa, and Fort Lauderdale.

The Cuban government saw the potential of the cruise industry in boosting its tourism sector and generating revenue for the country. They worked closely with cruise lines to establish port agreements and develop the necessary infrastructure to handle the increasing number of cruise ships calling at Cuban ports.

With the opening of its ports, Cuba experienced a surge in cruise arrivals. In 2017, approximately 620,000 cruise passengers visited Cuba, a remarkable increase from previous years. This influx of tourists has had a positive impact on the local economy, providing opportunities for small businesses, tour operators, and local artisans to thrive.

The Cuban government has also taken steps to ensure that the benefits of the cruise industry extend beyond the major cities and tourist hotspots. Efforts have been made to promote secondary ports like Cienfuegos and Santiago de Cuba, offering visitors the chance to explore lesser-known but equally captivating destinations.

While the United States had initially placed restrictions on American citizens’ ability to cruise to Cuba, these restrictions were eased, allowing cruise lines to resume sailings to the island. However, it’s important to stay informed about current travel regulations and any potential changes, as these can impact cruise operations to Cuba.

Overall, the opening of Cuba’s cruise market has been a win-win situation for both the Cuban government and the cruise industry. Travelers now have the opportunity to discover the beauty and culture of Cuba while enjoying the convenience and comfort of a cruise vacation.

About Cuba Cruises

Travel advisory: on june 4, 2019, the us government announced new travel restrictions to cuba, effective immediately. as a result, all cruise lines will no longer be permitted to sail to the caribbean island of cuba..

Set sail to this picturesque Caribbean island, famed for its striking colonial architecture, magnificent powder-soft beaches, and fascinatingly diverse culture.

With miles upon scenic miles of white sand beaches, beckoning Old World architecture and majestic mountain ranges, Cuba is quickly becoming a popular vacation destination, and one of the best ways to explore this vibrant Caribbean island is with a Cuba cruise.

Very little has changed in Cuba in comparison to neighboring Caribbean islands, due in large part to an economic embargo that has lasted for more than half a century. As a result, passengers disembarking from a Cuba cruise will notice that some of the major cities, such as Havana, appear to be stuck in a time warp: the colonial architecture, though visually stunning, are in need of repair, while antique Fords, Buicks and Pontiacs are easily spotted cruising the streets in clouds of smoke. However, these storied surroundings are what make Cuba such a fascinating place to visit.

On a Cuba cruise vacation, passengers have the opportunity to venture out to far-reaching islands and to explore a few cities in the span of several days. Nearly all cruises to Cuba incorporate a port of call in Havana, Cuba’s capital. In this captivating city, passengers can stroll through the cobblestone streets of Old Havana and admire its colonial buildings, tour a fully operational cigar factory, or enjoy an evening out at one of the city's many live music venues. Another city passengers often visit during their Cuba cruise is Santiago de Cuba, the second largest city in Cuba after Havana. Here, passengers can tour historic rum distilleries, explore the UNESCO-recognized Baconao Biosphere Reserve, or simply bask on the shores of one of the many beautiful beaches. Cienfuegos is another port of call made by some cruise lines, and in this charming waterfront city, passengers can take an excursion to the stunning El Nicho Waterfall, stroll through the swanky Punta Gorda neighborhood to take in the beautiful neoclassical buildings, or spend some time in the turquoise waters snorkeling, sailing or swimming.

Most cruises to Cuba incorporate a port stop in Havana either for a full day or overnight so passengers can partake in at least one full-day shore excursion. Typically, these shorter Cuba cruises incorporate a port of call in either Mexico or the Caribbean as well. For longer duration Cuba cruises, passengers can opt for a partial Cuba circumnavigation cruise, which make ports of call in Santiago de Cuba and Cienfuegos. If passengers are keen on doing a full Cuba circumnavigation cruise, these itineraries will sail to more remote ports of call, such as La Isla de Juventud.

The best time to go on a Cuba cruise is from December to March, when the weather is delightful and rain is sparse. From May to October the temperature can reach unbearable levels, but if you can withstand the heat and humidity, try to book your Cuba cruise in July so you can be a part of the effervescent Carnival festival that occurs every year in Santiago de Cuba.

Any idea when they are going to release the Cuba itineraries? I see Cienfuegos, Havana, and Santiago de Cuba listed as ports of call when you select Cuba as a destination under the Destinations tab when you select Ports of Call.

You're right.  They are listed but if you chick on one of them it says "error".

:classic_unsure:

Perhaps with the next release?  They have had releases of new cruises the past two weeks and no news yet about 2020 / 2021 Caribbean cruises so maybe it will happen when those are announced?  It sure seems like they are getting the website ready.

I think all Grand class and larger ships are too big for the port infrastructure in Cuba.

I would love to go to Cuba on Princess.  I may have to resort to other cruise lines so it seems.

We were told that all Princess ships(with the exception of the one small one they still have?) are too big for the terminals. We just got back from NCL Sky(my 3rd time) from Cuba & LOVED the ship. We were thinking the whole time how horribly we're treated on Princess compared to the Sky - and we're Elite!

Yes, definitely. I didn't realize until we were onboard that all drinks were included in the price of the cruise. I think it was a special at the time we booked as it was a fairly last minute cruise. Not knowing what the future holds regarding travel to Cuba, I figured we'd go while we could. We learned a lot about Cuba while we were there.

Oddly enough, we sailed the same ship with a different name twelve years earlier in Hawaii. NCL renamed the ship when they no longer based it in Honolulu. (Which is why the Norwegian Sky has Hawaiian flowers on the side, LOL. It used to be Pride of Aloha.)

Every crew member was amazing, even the bathroom cleaners would smile & ask if you were having a good cruise.

At dinner the hostess & server would call you by name & always have a table for two without any problem.

We asked for a specific waiter & he happened to be working in the buffet one night. They called & had him come down to wait on us.

At lunch one day I saw key lime pie & by the time I went to get it an hour later they told me they were out. I asked the supervisor if they would have it again at some point. She told me to wait a few minutes, then she appeared with a piece for me.

I saw the bartender stocking Crown Royal & asked him what he did with the bags they come in. He gave me the one he had & told me to come back in a few hours - I did & he had 4 more for me.

Met a sous chef & talked for awhile - later that night we had chocolate covered strawberries sent to our cabin from him.

More strawberries & a bottle of wine for us in our cabin since we were doing a back to back.

Over & over we felt like we were treated like royalty.

The HAL website is still listing Cuba for later this year, and Autumn/Winter of 2020.

Maybe it's too early to tell if that proposed ban will actually be applied ...

Princess Cruises Announces Revised 2025 World Cruise Itineraries

Uncertainties in the red sea and surrounding region prompts rerouting of global voyages.

By downloading this image you agree to the Princess asset use terms and conditions

SANTA CLARITA, Calif., (April 30, 2024)  – Given the ongoing situation in the Red Sea and surrounding area and following extensive consultation with global security experts and government authorities, Princess Cruises is revising the itineraries for its two 2025 World Cruises, which will no longer visit the Middle East or Asia, and now instead, will offer new port stops in Africa and Europe.

“A Princess World Cruise is truly the voyage of a lifetime and after careful consideration with guidance from global security experts and government authorities, we know our guests will understand and appreciate the change to our upcoming 2025 itineraries to avoid certain areas,” said Terry Thornton, chief commercial officer of Princess Cruises. “These global events beyond our control have necessitated these reroutings but we are pleased to continue to ensure these world cruises retain destination-rich itineraries with incredible stops along the west Africa coast and the Mediterranean.”

Island Princess World Cruise

Sailing from North America on Island Princess, the 116-day World Cruise offers two roundtrip options with departures from both Ft. Lauderdale, embarking January 5, 2025, and Los Angeles on January 20, 2025, and ends in Los Angeles on May 17, 2025. This destination dreamers delight will traverse over 36,700 nautical miles, visiting 46 destinations in 24 countries and six continents. The voyage includes visits to historic Bar, Montenegro and Taranto, Italy, along with inaugural World Cruise calls to the idyllic Greek Island of Patmos and to Volos – for the Monasteries of Meteora.

The revised World Cruise itinerary, from February 16-April 9, departs Sydney and will travel to Melbourne and Perth, then on to South Africa. From there, the cruise resumes the scheduled itinerary starting in Valletta, Malta on April 9.

Following is the amended portion of the voyage:

Those guests scheduled to originally depart or join the cruise from Dubai on March 14, 2025, will now embark or disembark four days earlier on March 9, in Cape Town, South Africa. Booked guests disembarking in Cape Town will be refunded the amount equivalent to four days of the cruise fare and those joining earlier will not incur an added cost to their cruise fare. All these guests will also receive a $300 onboard credit as a gesture of good will.

Crown Princess World Cruise

Departing from Down Under, Crown Princess - the largest ship to ever host a World Cruise - is scheduled to depart Auckland May 31, 2025; and Sydney June 4, 2025; and sail on a 113-day adventure visiting 42 destinations in 22 countries, across five continents. This cruise will also bypass the Red Sea and surrounding region, including the transit of the Suez Canal. The ship will travel via Africa instead of the Red Sea and Asia itinerary. The fully revised itinerary is currently being finalized and will be communicated shortly.

Cruise operator Norwegian lifts 2024 profit view, but Q1 sales miss hits shares

By Granth Vanaik

(Reuters) -Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings raised full-year profit forecast on Wednesday after it topped first-quarter earnings estimates, betting on higher ticket prices and record demand for cruise vacations to destinations like the Caribbean.

However, its shares dropped 9% after quarterly revenue fell short of analysts' expectations.

Operators are seeing all-time high booking rates for cruise vacations this year, as travelers continue to opt for sea-based sojourns over expensive land-based holidays, giving them enough room to hike prices.

Last week, rival Royal Caribbean Group raised its annual profit forecast for the second time since February.

"The challenge for NCLH shares this year and likely today as well is that RCL has set a very high bar with several massive beat & raises this year," said Truist Securities analyst Patrick Scholes.

Norwegian's quarterly revenue increased to $2.19 billion, but missed expectations of $2.24 billion, according to LSEG data.

It earned an adjusted profit of 16 cents per share in the quarter, beating estimates of 11 cents per share.

That was despite lingering costs of labor, fuel and raw materials that drove cruise operating expenses about 8.4% higher. Norwegian also faces rising expenses from dry dock days, or the time ships spend under maintenance.

"We kicked off 2024 with impressive momentum, with record bookings in the first quarter," said CEO Harry Sommer.

To cater to the growing demand, Norwegian last month said it had placed an order for eight new ships across its three brands, which are scheduled for delivery between 2026 and 2036.

It expects an adjusted profit of $1.32 per share for the full year, compared with a previous forecast of $1.23 per share.

Occupancy levels in the first quarter were broadly in line with what Norwegian had projected earlier.
