'EA Sports PGA Tour' 2023 release date, price, courses, consoles and more on newest golf video game

Those who indulge will be able to play at major championship venues such as augusta national.

EA Sports is officially back in the golf video game space with its impending release of "EA Sports PGA TOUR". Marking its first venture back to the golf scene since "Rory McIlroy PGA Tour" in 2015, the return to consoles will feature stark contrasts compared to those that came before. Having previously featured cover athletes such as McIlroy and primarily Tiger Woods from 1999-2014, this year's edition of the game will not include a big-name superstar on the cover. EA Sports will instead lean on new gameplay options, advanced technology and the inclusion of some of the most storied golf courses around the world.

Below is everything you need to know ahead of the upcoming release of "EA Sports PGA Tour".

Release date

The official release date for "EA Sports PGA TOUR" is Friday, March 24, just two weeks before the 2023 Masters. This makes some sense as the game will feature a Road to the Masters gameplay option. 

Price and consoles

The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Featuring three different editions, each will come at a different price point. The "Deluxe Edition" is available for pre-order at $84.99 while the "Standard Edition" comes in at $69.99. Lastly, the "EA Play Pro Edition" is listed at $99.99/yr.

The game will include 30 courses in total, and boasts some of the world's most prominent venues such as Augusta National Golf Club, Pebble Beach Golf Links, Southern Hills Country Club, The Old Course at St Andrews Links, The Country Club, Kiawah Island Golf Resort's Ocean Course, Torrey Pines, Evian Resort Golf Club in Évian-les-Bains, France, East Lake Golf Club, TPC Southwind, The Los Angeles Country Club, Wilmington Country Club and more. It will also feature the major host courses from 2021 and 2022 as well as the new 2023 majors courses releasing post-launch. 

You can play the game as Scottie Scheffler, Cameron Champ, Xander Schauffele, Sungjae Im, Nelly Korda, Lexi Thompson, Jordan Spieth, Tony Finau and Hideki Matsuyama.

My Career mode

The game will include a role playing game mode-type progression in the Road to the Masters. As one's golf game improves, the likelihood of donning the green jacket or raising a major championship trophy increases. Users will be able to create and customize a golfer and develop their skills through the 20 different shot types available. From there, players will compete in major championships, participate in some of the PGA Tour's best events -- such as The Players Championship -- and ultimately the FedEx Cup. In addition to this, players can take on top amateur championships including the Augusta National Women's Amateur, the U.S. Amateur and other elite international amateur events.

LPGA and the Amundi Evian Championship

In partnership with the LPGA, fans can compete at The Amundi Evian Championship, one of the LPGA Tour's five major championships. They will also have the opportunity to play as several female athletes as well as create a female golfer in the Create-A-Player feature and be able to participate in a series of LPGA-themed challenges and other events.

New technology

• True-to-Life course visuals:  EA's Frostbite engine uses state-of-the-art equipment such as drone technology, custom LiDAR flight helicopters and more to develop terrain maps allowing to game to depict courses exactly as they appear in real life
• ShotLink:  Golfers will authentically be replicated with accurate player ratings, skills and magnified true-to-life in-game events by utilizing the PGA Tour's proprietary real-time scoring system since 2001.
• Trackman data:  Insights from TrackMan will allow for authentic gameplay utilizing a myriad of stats including club tuning, flight trajectory, landing position and much more.

What about Tiger Woods?

Woods is no longer with the EA Sports family after their partnership from 1999-2014. The 15-time major champion is now with the 2K franchise , and made it known to his followers where they can play as him.

EA Sports PGA Tour release date set for March 2023

EA has announced the release date of EA Sports PGA Tour , the revived golf game series coming to PlayStation 5 , Xbox Series X|S and PC on 24th March 2023. Pre-orders can secure three days of early access from 21st March.

Alongside the announcement, EA has also released a new trailer, showcasing the brand new Pure Strike system and other parts of the gameplay. Pure Strike leans into EA’s partnerships with ShotLink and TrackMan, real world technologies that have been tracking and analysing pro golfer swings, shots, play styles and more. Pure Strike combines this into ensuring that each golf shot in the game has a fluid swing mechanic, accurate ball behaviour through the air and as it bounces and rolls on different terrain, and interacts with course dynamics that have been tuned to match the real life courses.

EA Sports PGA Tour has secured the exclusive license for the four majors , as well as 30 real world courses that have been recreated through the use of helicopter and drone LIDAR scanning, as well as photogrammetry for unique course features and clubhouses. More majors courses will be included post-launch.

You’ll be able to create your own pro golfer, both male and female, as the PGA and LPGA tours are both represented in game. You then have an RPG-like progression system, learning new shot types and levelling up as you work to become a major champion and compete in the FedExCup.

Additionally, there will be plenty of online and offline mutliplayer modes, and a live challenge mode that EA can add new challenges to on-the-fly, recreating scenarios shortly after real players have faced them in real life.

Originally planned for release in Spring 2022, EA Tiburon missed that target, and they clearly decided that it would be best to delay the game for a whole year, to really hit the prime golfing season through the northern hemisphere’s summer and with all the licensed majors running their course. It’s been eight years since  Rory McIlroy PGA Tour in 2015 , with a rival golf series from 2K and HB Studios springing up in the intervening years, morphing from The Golf Club into the  PGA Tour 2K  series. It won’t be long before we find out which of the two rival games will be the winner…

EA Sports PGA Tour Release Date and Details Unveiled

Thanks to a partnership with the LPGA, you’ll also be able to compete for the Amundi Evian Championship, one of LPGA’s five major championships.

EA Sports PGA Tour Release Date & Details

The game will have 30 courses at launch, including such classics as Augusta, St. Andrews, and Pebble Beach. Utilizing the latest Frostbite engine, developers claim to have recreated the layouts of these courses in painstaking detail courtesy of drone technology, low-flying LIDAR helicopters, and on-course visits. It was apparently impressive enough to earn the coveted seal of approval from the caretakers of the courses when they played a virtual round.

However, as of now there is no word on whether or not you’ll be able to create other courses in the game or if you’ll be left with only the ones EA provides.

It was revealed that there will be an impressive number of ways to strike the ball, as you can select from 20 different types of shot that all have their distinct characteristics. With the game’s Pure Strike mechanics being tracked by PGA Tour ShotLink and Trackman data, your swing dynamics aim to be as realistic as possible. This means that the terrain of your lie and the course conditions will play just as important a role as being good on the sticks. Speaking of which, it was revealed that you’ll only be able to use the analog stick to swing the club, though there was some talk from the development team of adding a 3-click option post-launch.

Along with the ability to create your own golfer, you’ll also have the option to use real golfers from the PGA Tour (minus Tiger of course, who’s exclusive to PGA Tour 2K ), with the likes of Jordan Spieth, Tony Finau and Patrick Cantlay announced as those included at launch. EA was fortunate to be able to scan real golfers during the pandemic thanks to being included in the PGA bubble.

You’ll have the opportunity to further customize the look of your golfer with the help of 40 brands for apparel and equipment. It looks as if a golfer’s skills will be divided into five main categories: power, driving approach, short game, and putting. Over the course of your career, you’ll be able to unlock skill points that you can use to improve your prowess within these categories. You can choose whether you want to begin your career as an amateur or jump right into being a professional where you’ll compete for FedEx Cup points in tournaments and major events over the course of a season.

EA promises that there will be regularly updated challenges that people will be able to play to earn rewards. Because of the partnership with ShotLink, the game can actually scrape the data from real events to have you trying to recreate great shots from events in real life right after they have happened.

Online play will have competitive and casual matchmaking. These elements are expected to be updated with playlists that will vary the formats throughout the game’s cycle. There will even be online tournaments where you can play rounds to post a final score and hope that it holds up against everyone else that’s posting their own. Supporting up to 16 golfers all playing a round simultaneously, there looks to be plenty of chaotic fun to be had from hitting the links with others.

For now, that’s all we have as no hands-on time came with this event. That said, we’ll be sure to track EA Sports PGA Tour all the way up (and through) its March 24 release date.

EA Sports PGA Tour Gets First Trailer Showing Augusta National And The Masters

Fans have waited years for EA to bring back its golf series, and that's finally happening with the company's first golf game since 2015.

EA Sports has released a teaser trailer for its upcoming PGA Tour game, EA Sports PGA Tour , providing a first look at gameplay. EA kicked things off with a bang, showcasing gameplay the iconic Masters tournament at Augusta National. It's been a long time coming, as this is EA's first golf game since the poorly received Rory McIlroy PGA Tour in 2015.

EA Sports PGA Tour sets itself apart from 2K's PGA Tour series in part because it's the only golf game to feature the Masters (and the three other majors: PGA Championship, US Open, and The Open). The trailer is very short, but it does provide a first look at Augusta National in all its glory. Check it out below.

EA Sports PGA Tour launches in Spring 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. A release date hasn't been announced, but it's a safe bet the game will launch around the time of the Masters in April 2023 to take advantage of the hype and increased interest in golf around that time.

In addition to the four majors, EA Sports PGA Tour includes what is considered by some to be the fifth major, The Players Championship, as well as the full FedExCup Playoffs and all of its courses. A number of real-life pro golfers will be playable in the game, including Jordan Spieth, while real-world brands and sponsors will be featured in EA Sports PGA Tour. Additionally, LPGA events, including the Amundi Evian Championship, will be in EA Sports PGA Tour, along with some top female pros like Lexi Thompson and Jin-Young Ko.

EA Sports PGA Tour also has a create-a-player feature, as well as shot data provided by ShotLink and TrackMana Data systems.

Professional golf is at a crossroads right now, with the new Saudi-backed LIV Golf tournament series competing with the PGA Tour. Thanks to bigger paydays , a lighter schedule, and a new format, LIV Golf has lured some PGA Tour players away, including big names like Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, Brooks Koepa, Cam Smith, and Sergio Garcia, among others.

What impact this drama is having on EA Sports PGA Tour and PGA Tour 2K23 is unknown. For 2K's game, the studio has confirmed that any pro in PGA Tour 2K23 who later jumps to LIV won't be removed from the game . How, exactly, EA is handling the LIV situation is unknown at this stage.

2K's own PGA Tour 2K23 is scheduled to release on October 14, but the game's more expensive editions unlock today, October 11.

EA Sports PGA Tour Game Release Date And Epic Course List Announced

The eagerly anticipated PGA Tour video game will feature some of golf's most famous courses in stunning detail

EA Sports has announced the release date for its first golf video game since 2015 - and it includes a star-studded line-up of 30 "bucket list" layouts from all over the world. 

The big news is that Augusta National - which debuted in the Tiger Woods PGA Tour game in 2011 - is back and will be showcased in stunning detail. And not only that, the legendary game maker has created a "Road to the Masters" career mode. 

In fact, EA Sports PGA Tour will become the exclusive home to all four men's majors - the Masters, PGA Championship, US Open and The Open - which was the feature most sought after by gaming aficionados. 

It will also feature the LPGA's Amundi Evian Championship and will be updated with additional live content throughout the 2023 PGA Tour and LPGA Tour seasons.

"We're bringing the premier PGA Tour experience to players around the world with real-world golf data powering incredibly realistic gameplay with every shot, and some of the most iconic courses in the world rendered in painstaking detail," said Cam Weber, EVP and GM of EA Sports. 

"From The Old Course at St Andrews Links to Pebble Beach Golf Links and more, we’re giving players the chance to tee off in bucket list golf experiences like never before in EA Sports PGA Tour."

As well as Augusta National and the Old Course, Southern Hills and The Country Club complete the roster of 2022's Major venues. Other notables include Kiawah Island's Ocean Course, Torrey Pines, Evian Resort Golf Club in France, East Lake, TPC Southwind, The Los Angeles Country Club, Bandon Dunes and Tara Iti GC in New Zealand.

As for the gameplay, the all-new Pure Strike software, which uses ShotLink and Trackman, will bring to life some of golf's most iconic courses like never before, delivering lifelike course dynamics and ball behaviour. It will also accurately reflect each golfer's unique swing characteristics across the 20 shot types available.

EA SPORTS PGA TOUR will have 28 real-life and 2 fantasy courses for a total of 30 beautiful golf courses at launch. State-of-the-art Technology Supports Course Mapping for Accurate Course Visuals

Each course is designed in stunning quality with Frostbite, so you can immerse yourself in golf’s finer details more than ever before. And to achieve the most true to life course visuals we meticulously mapped Augusta National, the home of the Masters, and other courses, with state-of-the-art technologies like photogrammetry scanning, drone technology, and survey-grade GPS. 

We also led custom LiDAR helicopter flights over each course in the game, scanning at lower altitude with slower speeds to achieve more data-point-density and a higher level of realism than scans from publicly available sources. Using these technologies, which are actually designed to discover underground gold mines and oil reserves, we achieved pin-point accuracy down to the blade of grass for many courses in-game. Each course’s scan has been transferred into EA SPORTS PGA TOUR to be developed and tuned for the most accurate depiction of them possible.

And we didn’t just scan the greens, the terrain map also created precise renderings of clubhouses, vegetation, bridges, tee markers, rock formations, water, and more on-course elements.

To achieve the highest granularity possible, we also took the time to visit these prestigious courses ourselves to fully understand how the course plays in real life. From walking the holes to surveying course superintendents, the unique conditions at each golf course were mapped and recorded in these in-person visits over the years. 

We were able to even record the distinct cuts of grass and how the ball behaves on them along with upcoming changes they’re making for future seasons to capture a full picture of these courses and how each of them play now and in the future.

So whether it’s The Old Course at St. Andrews Links or The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort, you’ll be able to see and feel the distinct differences of playing on these courses just like you would if you were there in real life.

Course Visuals Enhanced by Time of Day Features

Inspired by classic American landscape artists, we set out to create the most beautiful courses in-game with lighting that changes the look of a course based on the time of day. The goal was to create discreet times of day that showed off each course or hole in its absolute best light.

 In game, we represent those as 3 different “tee” times, morning, mid day and late afternoon, across 4 unique “Biomes”. Each of the 4 biomes , Humid subtropical, Mediterranean, Oceanic and Desert, have varying lighting conditions, levels of contrast, clouds and atmospheric haze etc, to give each course a unique look based on its location and the time of day that you are playing.

Course Dynamics Support True-To-Life Ball Dribbling and Behavior

But stunning visuals are only one part of making a course feel like it does in real life. To make each course not only appear but feel accurate to real life, Pure Strike gameplay’s Course Dynamics impact the way the ball behaves on every green in the game.

Each course is tuned to behave just the way it does in real life which impacts the height of a ball’s bounce, the speed of its roll, the impact on ball spin, and the launch of the ball which vary from course to course.

Each course has its own subtleties including everything from the speed and firmness of the fairway to the firmness and length of the first cut. The ball reacts to these subtleties to result in a variety of ball behaviors that change on each course. So you’ll see the ball roll differently on the firm and fast fairways at The Old Course at St Andrews Links in comparison to those of Harbour Town. 

The ball will behave differently across different terrains like pine straw, firm fairway, soft fairways and more. So you can expect to see the ball bounce differently on softer terrains in comparison to hard ones, just like you’d see in real life.

But you’ll also be able to feel how your ball behaves differently in the air as well since ball behavior and course dynamics are also impacted by altitude so courses above sea-level will see balls go further than those on the coast.

EA Sports Sets Release Date for Long-Awaited Return of PGA Tour Video Game

After an eight-year absence, EA Sports’ PGA Tour  will make its return March 24.

Three members of the game’s development team—David Baker, Craig Penner and Ben Ramsour—offered a preview of what’s to come during an hourlong media call last week, showing off character models, the official course list and game play.

“Golf is incredibly popular right now,” Ramsour said. “And there were insights that said people were eager for an EA game to come back.”

EA Sports 'PGA Tour'

The presentation leaned heavily on the game’s official licensing of all four major championships and the power of its Frostbite engine.

EA has partnered with Augusta National, the USGA, the R&A, the PGA of America, the PGA Tour and the LPGA to present re-creations of the Masters , U.S. Open , British Open , PGA Championship , Ryder Cup , Players Championship, FedExCup, Evian Championship, U.S. Amateur, Amateur Championship, Latin America Amateur Championship, Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship, the Augusta National Women's Amateur and a slew of regular-season Tour events.

At launch, the game will feature a list of 30 real-world courses, including Augusta National, St. Andrews, Pebble Beach, The Country Club (Brookline), Southern Hills, TPC Sawgrass, Evian Resort, East Lake, Wilmington Country Club, TPC Boston, TPC Southwind, Casa de Campo’s Teeth of the Dog, TPC Scottsdale, Tara Iti, Whistling Straits, the Ocean Course at Kiawah, Chambers Bay, Wolf Creek, Liberty National, Bay Hill, Riviera, PGA West, Quail Hollow, Torrey Pines, Banff Springs, Top of the Rock, Bandon Dunes and Harbour Town. At least five more 2023 venues—Oak Hill, Los Angeles Country Club, Royal Liverpool, Olympia Fields and Marco Simone—will be added post-launch.

Per Ramsour, EA used everything from Lidar and photography to drones and consultations with course superintendents to produce a previously unprecedented level of detail for a golf simulation. Augusta National even granted the studio access to its agronomic software, allowing the development team to recreate the Masters' famous surroundings plant for plant, tree for tree.

As for game play, the Road to the Masters career mode appears similar to what gamers have come to expect. You’ll build your character’s skills over time and spend virtual currency on all the latest equipment and apparel from the top manufacturers.

EA’s innovations come from the integration of ShotLink and TrackMan data and the studio’s course-mapping technology. The producers promise that the burnt fescue of St. Andrews will offer a markedly different experience than the spongy Bermuda of Casa de Campo, and that expanded shot types will make for richer, more diverse game play from player to player.

Aside from the career mode, EA is offering both ranked and unranked online play, private matches with friends, frequently updated challenge modes and—perhaps most interesting for players who have grown accustomed to the online societies of the rival PGA Tour 2K —limited-time tournaments with global leaderboards and ranking points. Of particular note, the game’s online servers support up to 16 simultaneous players competing on the same hole, allowing you to watch your competition in real time.

The studio will unveil additional details in the run-up to the game, but what it has shown off so far is visually impressive. After an extended absence, EA looks to be back in a big way, setting a new bar for what a next-gen golf game should look like.

PGA Tour  will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X and PC. The standard version of the game will retail for $69.99, with a deluxe edition available for $84.99.

EA Sports PGA Tour gets a release date, new details shared

Looks rather realistic.

Electronic Arts announced a release date for EA Sports PGA Tour today, so mark your calendars for March 24.

The game will be the exclusive home to all four majors in men’s golf. These are the US Open Championship, Masters Tournament, PGA Championship, and The Open.

In addition, the game releases with Road to the Masters featuring Augusta National, challenges, tournaments, and gear tied to the Masters. Additional details on live service content throughout the 2023 PGA Tour and LPGA Tour seasons will be announced.

The video released today alongside the announcement shows off the Pure Strike shot system. It provides you with all the tools needed to tackle courses as the pros do. It also ensures professional golfer’s unique swing and attributes are reflected accurately in the game. Expect fluid swing mechanics accurate to backswing length, speed of followthrough, ball behavior, and lifelike course dynamics.

PGA Tour features 30 courses, such as the Augusta National Golf Club, Pebble Beach Golf Links, Southern Hills Country Club, The Old Course at St Andrews Links, Torrey Pines, Evian-les-Bains, and more. It will also feature past major host courses in 2021 and 2022 and the new 2023 majors courses post-launch.

It also features an RPG-like progression system dubbed the Road to the Masters. As your golf game improves, the closer you will get to become a major champion. You can create and customize your golfer, develop skills and master each course with 20 shot types available as you progress in the game. You will be able to compete to become a major champion and take on events like the FedExCup, and top amateur events.

The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) will allow you to play in the Amundi Evian Championship and have the opportunity to play as several female athletes or to create your own female golfer using the overhauled Create-A-Player system. Iona Stephen will join the commentary team as the first female on-course commentator in-game.

To make the courses come to life, the developers built the game using EA’s Frostbite engine and used drone technology, helicopters, and airplanes equipped with LiDAR scanners to develop terrain maps. Because of this, you can expect courses to appear as they do in real life. The photogrammetry and scanners were also applied to create renderings of clubhouses, vegetation, bridges, tee markers, rock formations, and other on-course elements.

PGA Tour also features ShotLink, the game’s proprietary real-time scoring system, and insights from TrackMan, a world leader in 3D ball flight measurement and swing analysis,

The game will be made available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via the EA App, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.

Pre-orders for PGA Tour are live alongside the Deluxe Edition which includes three-day early access, and the Augusta National. This edition also includes the Players Championship Gear, The Grand Slam Gear Bundle, Scotty Cameron Putter in-game, 1,500 Premium PGA Tour points, a PGA Tour XP Bundle, and The Masters gear.

EA Play members will also receive early access to the game, starting with a 10-hour early access trial on March 21. EA Play Pro members will enjoy unlimited access to the Deluxe Edition of the game and the exclusive EA Play Staff Bag starting March 21. All EA Play members will unlock additional bonuses for EA Sports PGA Tour, with monthly drops of Pro Shop perks such as exclusive headcovers, shirts, hats, and more.

EA Sports PGA Tour is the next golf game to hit the market, but when can fans expect it to release?

At long last, golf fans will finally see another entry in the PGA Tour franchise. After a hiatus of a couple of years, the franchise is finally back and under a new, albeit more generic name. EA Sports PGA Tour is the next-generation golf video game that fans have been waiting for ever since 2K briefly took control of the series with PGA Tour 2K21.

EA Sports PGA Tour has experienced a number of delays in its journey thus far. It was originally supposed to launch in 2022, but EA shifted its plans to focus on an early 2023 release. While that release window also got slightly pushed back, there doesn't appear to be any further delays in store. There is a firm release date for EA Sports PGA Tour, and it's sooner than some fans might think.

PGA Tour 2K21 in 60 Seconds

EA Sports PGA Tour release date

Barring another unforeseen delay, EA Sports PGA Tour will fully release on April 7, 2023 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows for PC . Last-generation console fans will not be able to play EA Sports PGA Tour, as the technology being used in the game appears to be too advanced for the PS4 and Xbox One.

All three platforms have the same release date, so every player will get to experience EA Sports PGA Tour as a whole when it comes out. Although, if you're a PC player, you will want to check and make sure that your system has the necessary requirements in order to run the game. If not, then you may need to upgrade if you want to play at launch. You can check the PC minimum and recommended requirements on EA's website .

EA Sports PGA Tour is a PS5 and Xbox Series X golf game that marks EA's return to the sport. 

EA Sports PGA Tour will let you build a virtual career and play on world-famous golf courses, playing against or as some of the biggest professional golfers in the world. It'll also have licensed events for you to take part in, and more details, including a release date, are coming soon. 

In a press release to mark the announcement, Cam Weber, EA Sports EVP and GM said: “EA Sports and the PGA Tour have created some of the most memorable golf video game experiences together, and we couldn’t be more excited to expand our sports portfolio with a new golf title on next-gen hardware." They went on to say: "Our team of passionate golf fans is meticulously recreating the world’s top courses such as Pebble Beach, and we can’t wait to give fans the opportunity to compete on some of the most iconic PGA Tour courses and win the FedExCup.”

With Tiger Woods recently signing a deal with 2K Sports for what will likely be PGA Tour 2K22 , it's no surprise that EA has counteracted with this announcement. Woods was the face for EA Sports PGA Tour games for well over a decade, but hasn't appeared in a game since PGA Tour 14. The last EA Sports PGA Tour title was in 2015, with Rory McIlroy as the featured golfer, but so far, there's no indication of who will be the cover athlete. Personanally, we hope EA do the sensible thing and make it a next-gen Lee Carvallo's Putting Challenge .

EA Sports New PGA Tour Game Given Spring 2023 Release Date

EA Sports has pushed back the release of its latest PGA Tour golf game another year, giving it an estimated release window of Spring 2023. The newest PGA Tour game will be the first entry from EA into the golf game world since its last game in 2015, which was Rory McIlroy PGA Tour .

One thing EA will have as a USP this time around is exclusivity on The Masters Tournament. PGA Tour will also exclusively feature the three other major championships, namely the PGA Championship, U.S. Open Championship and The Open Championship. In addition, players can experience a deeper level of authenticity in the new game’s campaign mode, during which they can take part in a range of tournaments. These are named by EA as being THE PLAYERS Championship, the FedExCup Playoffs and The Amundi Evian Championship. This is one of the Ladies’ Professional Golf Association’s five major championships.

For added realism, EA will be making use of Shot Link and TrackMan data in the game’s real-time scoring system, in order to ensure accuracy in player ratings. TrackMan data in particular will be used to analyse gameplay down to a granular level by measuring 3D ball flight and analysing club swings.

In an official press release today, EA Sports has confirmed that players will get to experience PGA Tour in the Spring of 2023. It was scheduled for release this year, but it seems that more time is needed to fully perfect the game for launch. That said, EA has stated that players can look forward to ‘ultra-realistic visuals’ thanks to the use of their own Frostbite game engine.

More details on gameplay and a potential licensed player roster will be revealed closer to the game’s launch, but there’s clearly a lot to look forward to as EA Sports clearly aren’t giving up their love of golf games any time soon.

'PGA Tour 2K23' release date: Price, new features, consoles and more on latest golf video game

2K Sports' golf vertical has produced its latest golf video game, "PGA Tour 2K23", which can be played across multiple platforms and features Tiger Woods as its cover boy. After skipping 2022, 2K has linked Tiger's cover in 2023 to his pal, and the previous front man for this project, Justin Thomas, who graced the cover back in 2021. This year's edition has engendered a lot of excitement -- and a lot of different versions of the game -- as it hits shelves this fall.

Release date

The official release date for "PGA Tour 2K23" Deluxe Edition and PGA Tour 2K23 Tiger Woods Edition is Tuesday, Oct. 11 while the release date for "PGA Tour 2K23 Standard Edition" is Friday, Oct. 14.

Who is the cover athlete?

Tiger Woods is the cover athlete, and he's featured on all three editions of the game.

Price and systems

The game's standard version for Xbox Series X|S and PS5 is $69.99, while a version for Xbox One, PS4 and PC is $59.99. The Deluxe Edition for PS4, PS5, PC and Xbox Series X|S is $99.99. The Tiger Woods Edition for PS4, PS5, PC and Xbox Series X|S is $119.99.

Analog swing:  If you're looking for a swing that mirrors a traditional real-life golf movement, the analog swing stick swing should be a good fit for you. To begin the motion, pull straight back on the analog stick and time your push forward as the power meter reaches the sweet spot for a silky smooth shot laced down the fairway.

Wasn't there once a popular Tiger Woods video game?

From 1999-2014, Tiger Woods licensed his name to the EA Sports version of the PGA Tour's game, but he has not been involved in video games since then until this recent resurgence with the 2K franchise. Woods' EA game reportedly generated more than $700 million from beginning to end.

2K Sports’ PGA Tour 2K23 launches Oct. 14 with Tiger Woods on the cover , beating rival EA Sports to shelves by about six months. The pro golf simulation will include 20 real-world courses at launch, with hundreds more available from the community thanks to HB Studios’ robust Course Designer .

Real-life stars gracing PGA Tour 2K 23 ’s roster include Woods, as well as 2022 PGA Championship winner Justin Thomas and the LPGA’s Lexi Thompson. Rich Beem and Luke Elvy are back in the commentary booth, this time joined by GolfTV’s Henni Koyack with on-course reporting.

PGA Tour 2K23, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X, will be the third golf simulation title published by 2K Sports, which acquired developer HB Studios in March 2021. HB previously published The Golf Club and The Golf Club 2 for consoles before integrating PGA Tour licensing in The Golf Club 2019 .

Meanwhile, EA Sports has yet to volunteer a launch date for its EA Sports PGA Tour revival, announced in 2021 and delayed by a full year into 2023 back in March. That game, however, will feature all four major championship tournaments on their real-world courses — including the Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club. PGA Tour 2K23 ’s MyCareer mode features more than a dozen real-life tour stops, including the season-ending Tour Championship and the seasonlong FedEx Cup championship.

A news release on Monday said that several casual and minigame modes that made online play very popular in PGA Tour 2K21 will return for 2K23 , along with a “Clubhouse Pass” of seasonal, unlockable content, coming from nine PGA Tour sponsors licensed to appear in the game. PGA Tour 2K23 will launch with three editions; all of them include a Michael Jordan Bonus Pack, which includes the basketball superstar — and notoriously competitive amateur golfer — in the playable roster. The Deluxe Edition and digital-only Tiger Woods Edition add more in-game customizations, bonuses, and content; both will be available three days early, on Oct. 11.

Correction: A previous version of this story misidentified the platforms on which PGA Tour 2K23 will be available. In addition to PlayStation and Xbox consoles, the game is coming to Windows PC via Steam. We’ve edited the article to reflect this.
