As an Indian citizen , you’ll need to obtain a valid Qatar visa to enter and stay in the country, regardless of the purpose of your trip. Fortunately, the visa application process has become more streamlined, with options ranging from visa on arrival to specialized tourist , business , and work visas . This comprehensive guide will walk you through the different visa types , associated fees , the required documents , and the step-by-step application process – both online and offline – to ensure a seamless experience.

Do Indians Need a Visa to Enter Qatar?

The good news for Indian travelers is that Qatar offers visa-on-arrival facilities, allowing you to conveniently obtain a visa upon arrival at the port of entry, provided your trip duration does not exceed 30 days. However, it’s essential to fulfill the specific eligibility criteria and have the necessary documents ready.

Eligibility for Qatar Visa on Arrival

To qualify for the visa on arrival in Qatar, Indian passport holders must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a valid Indian passport with at least 6 months of remaining validity
  • Present a confirmed return ticket or onward journey ticket
  • Make advance hotel reservations exclusively through the official Discover Qatar website
  • Clear immigration checks at Qatar’s port of entry
  • Pay the applicable  Qatar visa fee

If you meet these criteria, you can obtain a 30-day visa on arrival in Qatar, with the option to further extend your stay by an additional 30 days.

Qatar Visa Options for Indian Citizens

In addition to the convenient visa on arrival option, Indian travelers can also apply for various other Qatar visa types, depending on the purpose and duration of their stay in the country.

Qatar Tourist Visa

For Indian citizens visiting Qatar for tourism, leisure, or to visit family and friends, the Qatar tourist visa is the ideal option. This visa allows for a maximum stay of 30 days, with the possibility of extension.

Qatar Visa Application Process for Indian Travelers

Indian citizens can apply for their desired Qatar visa through two convenient channels:

Online Visa Application The most popular and efficient option is to apply for your Qatar visa online through the Ministry of Interior’s (MOI) official website. The step-by-step process involves:

  • Visiting the MOI Qatar Visa Application portal
  • Selecting the appropriate visa category
  • Filling out the application form with accurate details
  • Uploading the required supporting documents
  • Paying the applicable visa fees via debit or credit card
  • Tracking the application status of your Qatar Visa

Offline Visa Application Alternatively, you can opt for the offline Qatar visa application route by following these steps:

  • Downloading and printing the visa application form from the MOI website
  • Carefully filling out the form and signing it
  • Attaching the necessary supporting documents
  • Submitting the application in person at the nearest Qatar visa application center
  • Paying the fees and tracking the status of your Qatar Visa

While the offline application process may take longer, some applicants prefer the in-person submission approach.

Addressing Common Reasons for Qatar Visa Rejections

While most Qatar visa applications from Indian citizens are approved without any issues, some may unfortunately face rejections due to a few common reasons, such as:

  • Incorrect information : Ensure that all the details provided in the application form are accurate and factual.
  • Financial concerns : Submit comprehensive bank statements demonstrating sufficient funds to cover your stay in Qatar.
  • Ineligibility : Make sure you meet all the eligibility criteria for the specific  Qatar visa  type you’re applying for.
  • Missing documents : Carefully review the list of required documents and submit all the mandatory items.

I am an Indian national with an L1-B US visa. How much time it will take to get a transit visa at Doha to collect the luggage once I land there? Will it be free of cost? If not then what is the cost per person? Is there a way to apply for it online or it will be done only at the Doha airport upon arrival.

Hi Om, Since you have a US visa, you can apply for an ETA Visa. This will make sure you don’t face any delay. Please see: https://www.dohaguides.com/qatar-eta-visa-online/

I will be travelling to Johannesburg in March using Qatar airways and would like to transit via Doha for 2 hours. I have a Refugee UN Conventions travel document am l allowed to transit via Doha? I am not going to go into Doha as l know my passport is not allowed.

Hi Marny, Please confirm with your airline.

As reported by the Ministry of Health yesterday, visitors to Qatar must have a health insurance policy from February 1, 2023. so, is Health insurance also required for those family visa visitors who already have been approved and planning to travel on Feb 23? is Health insurance required in-addition of travel insurance to enter in Qatar?

Hi Ali, Travel insurance normally comes with health coverage. Please check this article: https://www.dohaguides.com/health-insurance-for-visitors-to-qatar/ If your insurance company is among the MOPH listed ones or meets all the listed conditions, you can proceed with same insurance. Or else you need to check with MOI.

Is the normal visiting visa are started.? Except VOA &FAMILY VISITING

Hi Nasreen, If you are asking about a tourist visa, not yet.

I have Indonesia Nationality, which visa I can used to enter Qatar? Visa on Arrival or Family Visit Visa? My husband (Indonesia) just worked at Qatar for 3 months but already have QID.

Hi Maulana, You can come by Visa On Arrival or Family Visit Visa. VOA is free and you can stay for up to 2 months only. A Family Visit Visa is expensive and needs a medical test for renewal, but you can stay up to 3 or 6 months (as per the current rule it is 3 months only).

The health insurance card of sponsor (husband ) is enough to apply for family visit visa for their wife.?

Hi Nasreen, The visitor’s (wife’s) name should be on the insurance document.

Is visiting visas are open.?

Hi Shibla, You can apply now. Processing will start soon.

Where can i apply for the visiting visas.?

Is can i take a visting visa without a sponsorship and after that can i change it into working visa

Hi Shib, There is no definite answer as this will depend on many factors.

New Schengen Visa Rules for Indian Visitors: Key Questions Answered

Peden Doma Bhutia , Skift

April 23rd, 2024 at 5:39 AM EDT

Destinations value Indian travelers, but lengthy visa processing times lasting months act as significant deterrents. The adoption of these new regulations by European authorities reflects a proactive effort to tackle these concerns, aiming to boost tourism flow.

Peden Doma Bhutia

The European Commission has introduced a new visa “cascade” regime for Indian nationals applying for Schengen visas in India. This regime looks to offer longer-term, multi-entry Schengen visas, based on the applicant’s travel history.

Indian travel agents had been complaining of Schengen visa delays as a major challenge to the summer travel rush from India.

  • How does one qualify for the longer duration visas?

The European Commission can issue a two-year multiple-entry visa after a traveler “has obtained and lawfully used two visas within the previous three years.” This demonstrates a positive travel history and compliance with previous visa regulations.

Subsequently, after granting the two-year visa, authorities may issue a five-year visa if the passport has has adequate validity remaining.

  • What benefits do holders of these extended visas enjoy?

During the validity period of these visas, holders can enjoy travel rights equivalent to visa-free nationals within the Schengen area, allowing for short stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period.

  • Which countries are part of the Schengen area?

The Schengen area comprises 29 European countries, including 25 European Union member states: Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Greece, Spain, France, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Hungary, Malta, Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Finland, and Sweden. Additionally, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland are also part of the Schengen area.

  • Are there any restrictions or conditions to these visas?

Schengen visas do not grant the right to work within the Schengen area and are for short stays only. Additionally, the visas are not purpose-bound, providing flexibility for travel within the specified period.

Industry Take

Skift also spoke to players in the Indian outbound travel industry to understand what has changed in the new Schengen visa rules.

  • How is this different from the earlier visas that Schengen countries offered? Don’t they already offer multi-entry visas with longer duration to Indians?

Mahendra Vakharia, managing director of Pathfinders Holidays, said there was no standard policy of Schengen states for issuing these long-term visas earlier. Switzerland, France, Netherlands, Italy and Spain usually issued long-term visa, but it was all subjective. “With this new policy it should be a standard rule now,” Vakharia said.

  • Travelers mainly complain of longer processing times, has that changed?

Here too, there is no standard processing time as it varies from country to country, according to Vakharia. “France and Spain have been processing visas within four days, and then there’s Croatia, which takes 60 days,” he said.

Processing time will not change as of now, it will take time for the visa rules to be enforced, said an industry source, while highlighting that the visa would be especially useful for corporate travelers.

What Promoted The Move?

Speaking on the possible motivations, Vakharia acknowledged various reasons, including administrative capacity constraints at embassies to cater to the huge inflow of applications.

“As there is an overwhelming demand from Indian travelers, the process of securing visa appointments has posed significant challenges , especially for travelers residing in cities lacking VFS Global centers,” he said.

The European Commission said in an statement that the decision reflects the EU-India Common Agenda on Migration and Mobility, aimed at fostering comprehensive cooperation on migration policy. Facilitating people-to-people contacts is a key aspect of this agenda, acknowledging India’s importance as an EU partner.

The decision also reflects a realization of the strong economic benefits derived through the spending power of Indian tourists. As Vakharia aptly puts it, “Why let go of the Golden Indian Goodie Bag?”
