Can anyone who haven't go to a Justin's concert write a comment??
My name is Diana, I'm 22 and I have never going to a Justin's concert!!! I just read all the previous comments and my tears just fell down... because the fact to see and meet Justin personally, is my biggest dream but I BELIEVE, I BELIEVE that one day I'm not going to write ''I haven't go'', the next comment will be ''I went to a Justin's''
Unfortunately, I didn't see Justin growing up during his tours, but I followed his entire life and now, I have among my stuffs a T-shirt of Purpose Tour and his perfume ''Someday''.
It might sound crazy, but I have have times when I speak lonely, just preparing the time when I'll face Justin and imagine all the conversation, because I have to make true this phrase that it's only mine ''I WILL MEET YOU, OR I WILL'' and this will happen, that is a promess. And when that time running, I'll just tell him... my life is very completely now...
I loved all the comments and I just grateful because I know my idol is a very loved person

The show was fantastic. Great sound, amazing lighting, talented musicians and dancers... even dazzling fireworks.
However, the main character was not up to the show's standards.
Bieber did not engage with his audience, did not smile once, did not put his heart in it.
Screaming girls didn't notice that the object of their desire hardly sang... since they wet the ones singing each song by heart.
His younger fans don't care if he shows that he doesn't enjoy his chosen line of work. Parents who ent with them think he should respect his public.
If he is bored, he should study to be something else.
On the other hand, the organization was pitiful. The guys showing people around did not know their way around. According to one of them a friend's row "did not exist", and to another, mine "was nowhere tocbe found". People were standing on the limpy chairs which made it hard for smaller children to watch the concert.
In short, I would have rather stay home, and the show had no passion, but my kid's enthusiasm was worth it.
Last night was the best night of my life I think I'm still in shock tbh. Justin looked so happy and healthy last night and that's all I could ever ask for. He may mime for some songs but that doesn't even bother me just breathing the same air and being in the same room as him is a dream come true. Although I fainted just before he performed cold water because I was too claustrophobic I still got straight back up as soon as I heard the start of cold water and carried on having an amazing time even though I was not feeling well. Justin sounded absolutely amazing throughout the whole of the show, his dances were perfect aswell as the dancers. He was having such a good time you could tell by the smile on his face throughout the whole show and the best part was that everyone went silent as soon as he started talked to show him we all respected him and what he had to say. I'll never forget when he made eye contact with me when I put down my phone and put my hands into a heart during purpose. It was the best night of my life and the most amazing 16th birthday present I could ever wish for. I love him so much and I can't wait to see him again. Xxxx

Bieber’s latest album, Justice, received mostly positive reviews from critics.
The Independent praised it as a considerable step up from his previous record, Purpose, commenting: “The musicianship in these new songs holds a mirror to [Bieber’s] newfound maturity. Tinny hip-hop beats and oversaturated synths have been replaced with funky guitar grooves and tight percussion.”
The review added: “Bieber seems determined to move past his R&B-lite sound and spend more time with classic songwriters. The pacy single ‘Hold On’ flirts with a Fleetwood Mac-style bassline and Eighties riffs, while ‘Ghost’ intersperses the acoustic guitar with a more dance-friendly beat. Elsewhere, ‘Off My Face’ makes a gentlemanly tip-of-the-hat to Simon and Garfunkel with its ‘Mrs Robinson’ ‘ooh ooh oohs’.”

Justin Bieber’s ‘Justice’ world tour canceled after several postponements

Justin Bieber ‘s “Justice” world tour has come to an abrupt end.
After several postponements , the singer and his team have seemingly called off the remaining shows of the tour’s European leg and more, including the June 2024 shows scheduled for the Kia Forum in Inglewood. The Utilita Arena Sheffield in the U.K., one of the upcoming stops on Bieber’s tour, announced on Tuesday that “the show has been cancelled.”
Fans on Twitter shared screenshots from ticket sales platforms AXS and Ticketmaster announcing that their upcoming events have been canceled as well.
Justin Bieber postpones tour after syndrome leaves his face partially paralyzed
Pop musician Justin Bieber announced Friday that he is taking a hiatus after Ramsay Hunt syndrome has caused partial facial paralysis.
June 10, 2022
“We regret to inform you that the Justin Bieber shows planned to take place at The O2 arena have been cancelled,” according to a screenshot of an email from the London venue that was shared in a tweet . “We understand you will be disappointed and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause,” the email continued.
Additionally, the Ticketmaster website listed a majority of shows, including those at the Tauron Arena in Krakow, Poland, and the AO Arena in Manchester, Great Britain, as canceled. Several of Bieber’s 2024 shows are also listed as canceled.
Representatives for Bieber did not immediately respond to The Times’ request for confirmation on Tuesday.
Justin Bieber to resume world tour after partial facial paralysis
Last month, singer Justin Bieber postponed his Justice world tour after becoming infected with a virus that caused his face to be partially paralyzed.
July 19, 2022
The “Justice” tour cancellation comes months after Bieber, 28, announced that he would take a break from touring in September . The singer said in a post to his Instagram story that calling off future shows would allow him to focus on himself.
“After getting off stage, the exhaustion overtook me and I realized that I need to make my health the priority right now,” the “Peaches” singer said in a statement a day after performing at the Rock in Rio in Rio de Janeiro.
He continued: “So I’m going to take a break from touring for the time being. I’m going to be ok, but I need time to rest and get better.”
Bieber first postponed his tour in June 2022 after sharing with fans that he was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a virus that has caused partial facial paralysis.
“As you can see, this eye is not blinking. I can’t smile in this side of my face. This nostril will not move,” Bieber said in an Instagram video. “So there’s full paralysis on this side of my face.”
The Mayo Clinic said Ramsay Hunt occurs in people who have had chickenpox and is a shingles outbreak that affects a nerve near one ear and causes one-sided paralysis and hearing loss. It’s most common in people older than 60.
‘Exhaustion overtook me’: Justin Bieber calls off world tour again for health reasons
Justin Bieber previously postponed his tour in June after revealing his Ramsay Hunt syndrome diagnosis. He resumed live performances in July.
Sept. 6, 2022
“So for those who are frustrated by my cancellations of the next shows, I’m just physically, obviously not capable of doing them,” Bieber said in his June video. “This is pretty serious, as you can see. I wish this wasn’t the case, but obviously my body is telling me I gotta slow down.”

On his personal Instagram page back in June it said, “In light of Justin’s ongoing recovery, the remaining U.S. tour shows scheduled for June and early July will be postponed,” according to a message on the singer’s Instagram tour page. “Justin continues to receive the best medical care possible, is upbeat about his recovery, and is looking forward to getting back out on the road and performing for his fans overseas later this summer.”
At the time he canceled shows in D.C. Toronto, and New York City. Bieber was candid about what he was going through and revealed his symptoms.
“For those who are frustrated by my cancelations of the next shows, I’m just physically, obviously, not capable of doing them,” said Bieber on Instagram. “There’s full paralysis on this side of my face.”

Justin Bieber Announces Massive 98-Date World Tour
The Justice Tour stretches all the way into 2023.
Justin Bieber is about to set sail. Next year, the “Peaches” singer will embark on a worldwide tour to promote his latest album, Justice. Following a two-year delay due to COVID-19, Bieber has finally secured the dates for his next concert event.
The Justice World Tour will begin on February 18th, 2022 and commence on March 25th, 2023. Currently the singer has 98 shows scheduled in 20 different countries, and he is bringing some friends along for the ride. Yesterday Bieber announced that Jaden Smith, Eddie Benjamin, Harry Hudson, and Mateo Arias are all joining the tour periodically. From the looks of things, the artists will take turns opening the show before his set begins.
Bieber's upcoming tour is the first time he’s performed globally in five years. The singer originally planned a North-American concert for his 2020 album Changes, but that was cancelled due to pandemic-restrictions. Since then, he’s teased the idea of returning to the stage but only recently made it official.
Though the set-list hasn’t been released, it appears the Justice World Tour will primarily focus on his new music. The corresponding album, Justice, was released in March of 2021 to fans' delight and produced three hit singles — “Holy” (featuring Chance The Rapper), “Peaches” (featuring Daniel Caesar and Giveon), and Lonely (with Benny Blanco) — that were all wildly popular.
According to Bieber, his upcoming tour has been in the works for quite some time. In a press statement he said, “we’ve been working hard to create the best show we’ve ever done, and we can’t wait to share it with fans around the world. I’ll see you soon.”
Tickets are currently available to purchase on Biebers website , along with Ticketmaster , and StubHub . Keep reading for the full tour schedule, and learn when Justice will hit a venue near you.

Justin Bieber Releasing New Song with Lyric 'Lost Myself at a Diddy Party'?
While there's no official confirmation of a new bieber song, the purported track is doing the rounds as diddy faces sex-abuse allegations., nikki dobrin, published april 11, 2024.
About this rating
In April 2024, rumors circulated on social media platforms like TikTok and YouTube suggesting that Justin Bieber would release a new song containing the lyric, "Lost myself at a Diddy party," about rapper and producer Sean "Diddy" Combs. The posts included audio that purported to be Bieber singing.
The lyrics of the song narrate an experience at a party hosted by Diddy, expressing Bieber's disillusionment with fame and fortune. The opening verse contains the following lyrics:
"Lost myself at a Diddy party, didn't know that's how it go, I was in it for a new Ferrari, but it cost me way more than my soul, wasn't worth all the fortune and fame."
However, there was no concrete evidence to substantiate the existence of this song, including no official confirmation from credible sources or news outlets. Many online commenters called it out as a song generated by artificial intelligence.
Snopes reached out to Bieber's management and record labels for comment, but received no immediate reply. We will update this story if they respond.
Famously discovered at age 13 by talent manager Scooter Braun, Bieber was quickly taken under the wing of R&B singer Usher. Bieber's relationship with Diddy began when the young star was reportedly 15 , with Diddy acting as his mentor and the two spending time in the recording studio together. Diddy surprised fans with Bieber's inclusion on his 2023 studio release, "The Love Album: Off the Grid," with Bieber providing guest vocals on the track "Moments."
In late 2023 and early 2024, Diddy faced a string of controversies involving multiple lawsuits, and federal agents and other law enforcement officers searched two of his properties on March 25, 2024, reportedly as part of a sex-trafficking investigation .
Bieber's recent history
In recent years, Bieber has faced health challenges, including his diagnosis of temporary facial paralysis caused by Ramsay Hunt syndrome in June 2022, which led to the postponement and eventual cancellation of his "Justice World Tour" in September 2022.
Per TMZ , Bieber was offered the headlining slot at the Coachella Festival in 2023 but declined it to focus on recording his seventh studio album, which was said to include collaborations with artists including Ed Sheeran, according to news reports . No official release date had been announced for this album as of this writing.
Following the release of his sixth studio album, "Justice," in March 2021, Bieber's only announcement on his official website regarding new music was his song with rapper Don Toliver, "Holiday," released April 2022.
Bieber interviewed his wife, model and Rhode Skin founder Hailey Bieber, for Vogue Australia in February 2023. Hinting at her husband's impending new music, Hailey said, "The new song that you just recorded, I can't stop listening to right now. Nobody knows what that is yet." However, no additional details were provided on any new songs.
While speculation regarding an alleged new Bieber song containing the lyric "Lost myself at a Diddy party" has persisted on social media, the lack of announcement or confirmation of release date on his official website or social media leads us to categorize this claim as "Unproven." Until Bieber or his representatives address the matter, the authenticity of the alleged track remains in question.

Pop star Justin Bieber and his spouse Hailey have encountered a tough period since the singer’s Ramsay Hunt syndrome diagnosis in June 2022, resulting in the halt of his Justice World Tour and a wave of backing from supporters globally. Bieber’s health worries have reemerged after a recent call for prayers from his father-in-law, actor Stephen Baldwin.
On February 26,2024 Baldwin shared a cryptic Instagram Story, amplifying a message from Victor Marx of All Things Possible Ministries to pray for Justin and Hailey Bieber. “Christians, please when you think of Justin and Hailey, take a moment to offer a little prayer for them,” wrote Marx. Although Baldwin did not specify the reason for the request, it renewed attention on Bieber’s health status, particularly in light of his battle with Ramsay Hunt syndrome.
This rare neurological disorder, characterized by facial nerve paralysis and sometimes a painful rash around the ear, is caused by the varicella-zoster virus—the same virus responsible for chickenpox and shingles. Bieber openly shared his struggle on Instagram, revealing the syndrome caused “full paralysis” on one side of his face and the inability to smile or blink with his right eye.
Treatment for Ramsay Hunt syndrome usually involves antiviral drugs like acyclovir and corticosteroids such as high-dose prednisone, which can help alleviate pain and lower the chances of long-term issues. The recovery process varies, with less than 50% of individuals achieving full restoration of facial function.
The singer expressed his frustration and the gravity of his condition, saying, “I wish this wasn’t the case, but obviously, my body’s telling me I gotta slow down.” Despite the setback, Bieber remained hopeful, engaging in facial exercises and relying on his faith, stating in a follow-up post, “I know this storm will pass, but in the meantime JESUS IS WITH ME.”
Hailey Bieber also experienced medical issues during that time, requiring hospitalization for “stroke-like symptoms” and having a procedure to close a heart opening called a PFO.Their shared experiences have deepened their bond, with Hailey reflecting on the impact on Good Morning America, “Going through this together, you’re being there for each other and supporting each other, and there’s just something that really bonds you through these times.”
Bieber remained optimistic about his health journey, but he was later forced to cancel the remaining dates of his Justice World Tour in October 2022.In a statement on social media, Bieber’s team emphasised that he was “taking a break from touring to make his health a priority”.
He assured fans: “I’m gonna get better and I’m doing all these facial exercises to get my face back to normal and it will go back to normal, it’s just time and we don’t know much time it’s gonna be.”

Posted: April 11, 2024 | Last updated: April 11, 2024
Listening to your favorite musician at home is fun, but there's nothing quite like the experience of singing along with them, and tons of more fans, live. And as luck would have it, 2024 is shaping up to be a massive year for some of the world's top musical acts, so chances are your favorite performer might be stopping at a city near you soon.
Ahead, we rounded up some of the biggest concert tours of 2024, ranging from Taylor Swift's mega-popular Eras Tour to Drake and J. Cole's exciting It's All A Blur Tour - Big as the What?—set to kick off this winter. You can also expect tour dates from classic icons like Stevie Nicks, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, and more.

Kiss, Springsteen, Katy Perry: Why music's biggest names are selling their catalogues
Last week, rock band Kiss sold their catalogue, brand name and IP to a Swedish company for an estimated $US300 million ($456 million).
They're the latest in a growing list of iconic musicians selling their back catalogues and music rights for eye-watering prices, including everyone from Bob Dylan and Fleetwood Mac to Justin Bieber and Shakira.
But who's buying? What's driving this ongoing trend and who's benefiting in these multi-hundred-million-dollar deals?
What are music catalogues and rights?
Generally speaking, the value of a music catalogue boils down to two things: rights to the masters and publishing.
Masters is shorthand for master recordings, which is the original sound recording of a piece of music. All other copies are derived from that master recording (thus the name).
Record labels typically own an artist's masters – historically that's been the standard when signing to a major label like Universal, Sony and Warner Bros, who maintain ownership of the music they're producing in exchange for the resources and marketing they give the artist.
Publishing rights concern the rights to the musical composition and lyrics. These are typically owned by the songwriter (rather than the performer) and essentially encompass who gets credit and royalties to a song.
Publishing determines who gets paid whenever and however a piece of music is used: for streaming, live performance, or being licensed for film, tv and adverts for example.
Typically, publishing rights have stayed with publishers and songwriters, and masters belong to labels and performers. But in recent years, investment companies have begun snapping up rights to big name music catalogues.
OK, so who's buying?
Two new major players kicked off the current acquisition boom – Hipgnosis Songs Fund and Primary Wave.
Together, these two companies own rights to catalogues from Fleetwood Mac, Neil Young, John Lennon, Shakira, Justin Bieber, Prince, Whitney Houston, Dire Straits, James Brown and many, many more.
Like investment firms, they've paid huge sums up front in order to reap money long-term from song royalties, licensing, commercial deals and other revenue streams that would typically go to the artist or label.
The trend kicked off around 2018, when Hipgnosis spent millions on the catalogues of two successful songwriter-producers, The-Dream and Poo Bear, who between them penned hits for Rihanna, Beyoncé, Kanye West and Bieber.
That same year, Primary Wave bought up Bob Marley's publishing rights for $US50 million ($75.4 million). And the prices have only surged from there.
What drove this trend?
Like nearly everything currently shaping the music industry, the answer is COVID-19.
With musicians stuck at home during the pandemic, the touring industry essentially evaporated, but streaming numbers skyrocketed. And users dramatically favoured older music, turning to popular artists and classic songs for comfort.
The Recording Industry Association of America's 2022 year-end report showed that two-thirds of all music streamed is made up of catalogue music, and streaming accounts for 84 per cent of all music industry revenue.
Owning the publishing rights to a hugely popular catalogue means getting streaming royalties and, as COVID demonstrated, that is a safer investment and more dependable revenue stream than other parts of the music industry.
In 2020, Hipgnosis read the tea leaves and went on a buying blitz, acquiring rights associated with Bon Jovi, Blink-182, Blondie, Mark Ronson, Jack Antonoff, Barry Manilow, and Rick James.
They also acquired Kobalt Music Copyright for $322.9 million, giving them access to the rights of around 33,000 songs, including hits from Skrillex, Enrique Iglesias, 50 Cent, George Benson and the co-write of Mariah Carey's Christmas blockbuster All I Want For Christmas Is You.
Major labels cottoned on and began throwing lump sums at artists on their roster to ensure startups like Hipgnosis and Primary Wave didn't snatch their prized assets.
Sony bought up Bruce Springsteen's catalogue for roughly $US550 million ($830m), as well as Paul Simon's publishing for his solo work and Simon & Garfunkel songs for an undisclosed amount.
Universal Music Group got Bob Dylan's publishing rights for somewhere between $US300 million and half-a-billion dollars , and spent an estimated $US300 million on Sting's output as a solo artist and with The Police.
David Bowie's estate sold the formidable artist's publishing catalogue to Warner for a rumoured $US250 million ($377 million).
By the end of 2021, the music industry had spent $US5.3 billion on catalogue acquisitions, up 180 per cent from the previous year, according to Midia Research .
If it's so valuable, why would an artist sell their catalogue?
The short, most obvious answer? It's a massive, immediate pay day.
Although they are relinquishing their rights to future revenue, selling rights and taking the money up front means musicians can rid themselves of uncertainty.
Given the current music landscape feels like more of a gamble than ever, a guaranteed cash out looks increasingly more appealing than continuing to roll the dice.
As is the case for many legacy artists, the industry is unrecognisable from the one they came up in, powered less by sales of physical media and press and more with a fascination for internet trends and algorithms.
Who knows when another technological innovation such as Spotify and TikTok, like Napster and Limewire before them, will completely disrupt the way music business works?
Or as Gene Simmons from Kiss put it in an interview with People , "We've all seen boxers and artists who will stay in the ring too long and get knocked out by some amateur. You don't want to do that, you want to go out on top."
Kiss are effectively retiring from touring, having completed a farewell tour in December, and sold their music catalogue to Pophouse Entertainment Group .
A Swedish company who owns the rights to works from Cyndi Lauper and EDM stars Avicii and Swedish House Mafia, Pophouse are the brainchild behind ABBA's Voyage hologram tour and are planning a similar project for Kiss now that they own the band's masters, publishing rights and – in a unique twist – intellectual property related to their onstage personas, make-up and likeness.
There's also the banal reality that aging stars like Dylan (age 82), Springsteen (74) and Stevie Nicks (75) are spending as much time thinking about retirement and estate plans as their next album campaign.
It's morbid, but dividing up a lump sum fortune among the beneficiaries of a will is far simpler leaving mourning families to fight over the messy paperwork of managing a lifetime's worth of recording and publishing copyright contracts.
Just ask Dolly Parton.
"That's taken several years to do, and it is really a hard thing to do and put it all in order," the country superstar told Music Week in 2020. "You don't want to be simply leaving a mess behind."
Parton has owned her music catalogue for "years and years" (her songs are currently licensed to Sony/ATV) but said "it's very possible that, for business reasons, estate planning and family things, I might sell the catalogue I have now."
Companies are in it for the long haul
What investment start-ups and major label corporations have that most mid-to-late career artists don't is the patience to reap long-term returns on publishing and recording ownership.
It makes sense that more musos are cashing out when you consider how traditional sources of income (CD sales, digital downloads) have been replaced by the small, slow gains of the over-saturated streaming market.
Opting for instant income takes the financial pressures out of having to market and tour their music, which is more costly than ever post-pandemic. It might even get them out of a bad deal.
Colombian superstar Shakira recently reached a settlement with Spanish authorities over a tax-evasion trial , paying a fine of more than 7.3 million euros in place of serving jail time. The ruling comes nearly three years after she sold her publishing rights for an undisclosed amount to Hipgnosis.
In September, Katy Perry struck a $225 million deal with litMUS music, who now own and manage the master and publishing rights to all five of her studio albums made with Capitol Records.
Having been less commercially successful in recent years (her last big hit was arguably 2013's Dark Horse), Perry's deal prompted speculation that she wanted a better deal with a new company. Or perhaps, as some have speculated, she got a bad deal from Capitol to begin with.
Music rights (Taylor's Version)
There are financial benefits for musicians controlling their artistic output. A host of big-ticket artists own (or bought back) their master recordings: U2, Metallica, Jay-Z, Rihanna, The Weeknd and Frank Ocean among them
Not all artists have had control of their catalogues or consented to their sale.
Taylor Swift is nearing the end of re-recording her first six albums after her former label Big Machine Records sold its masters and rights to music manager Scooter Braun in 2019 for an estimated $300 million… without her approval.
She owns the masters to the re-imagined 'Taylor's Version' albums , which quickly became more popular than the originals, a masterstroke of narrative revenge and a massive commercial success .
Not since Prince changed his name to an unpronounceable symbol in the 90s as a protest against Warner Bros (a wild tale worthy of its own deep dive ) has an artist done more to educate the wider public on music ownership and the exploitative nature of the music biz.
Swift signed a new record deal in 2018 with Universal subsidiary Republic Records, which has a binding condition that ensures she retains ownership of all future master recordings and licenses them to the label — a similar model used by the likes of Lana Del Rey and Kylie Minogue.
Swift's power play set an industry precedent — these days, major labels insert clauses into artist contracts to stop them pulling the same 're-recording' trick — and influenced other acts, particularly young female artists, to take ownership of their output.
Gen Z star Olivia Rodrigo and Swedish singer Zara Larsson both cited Swift as an influence in retaining ownership of their masters in their contracts.
In 2023, Dua Lipa bought back the rights to her songs from TaP Publishing, a division of the management company she split from in early 2022.
Has the catalogue sale bubble burst?
Late last year, Sony bought up half of Michael Jackson's coveted publishing and masters catalogue — valued somewhere between a whopping $US1.2 to 1.5 billion dollars ($1.8 to 2.2 billion). Meanwhile, Queen is preparing to close the sale of its catalogue (including rights to biopic blockbuster Bohemian Rhapsody) to the tune of $US1.2 billion.
You've got wonder how acts who sold early feel about these astronomical sums. Like, say, the Bob Marley estate's $US50 million deal. Though, given the film Bob Marley: One Love is on track to become the biggest music biopic of all time , maybe not so bad.
It might seem that the buy-up of these superstar catalogues will only continue, but business insiders believe there are signs the boom times are coming to an end.
Joe Brenner, the venerated lawyer who brokered the headline-grabbing sales of Springsteen, Sting and Bowie catalogues, says the post-pandemic "feeding frenzy" is over.
"The business will continue, but I don't think it will be quite the same," Brenner told Billboard .
"I don't think the appetite is the same… But look, music publishing is a great business. There's always going to be an opportunity to do these sorts of deals. And there are more and more potential buyers."
In Penny Fractions, his newsletter of music business criticism, David Turner predicted the music catalogue boom was over , only to admit he was wrong. It had simply slowed down and diversified.
"Deals aren't over, but the investment story subtly shifted from a boom period of riding streaming strength to now searching for niches within more unproven markets," he wrote in a follow-up piece titled Can't Stop, Won't Stop .
"This is why more headlines feature deals done across Europe, South Korea, and Latin America," he wrote, with investors looking towards potential in undervalued catalogues — such as electronic, Latin music or the burgeoning K-pop genres — which "may be less thrilling, and revenue-generating, than owning major pop hits."
Even Hipgnosis has found its power waning, going public on the London Stock Exchange and seeing its stock prices dip and sway.
British singer Rod Stewart backed out of selling his catalogue to Hipgnosis after two years of negotiations, saying "it became abundantly clear … this was not the right company to manage my song catalogue, career or legacy."
In February, Stewart sold for $US100 million to Iconic Artists , whose folio includes the Beach Boys, Cher, Joe Cocker and more.
Late last year, Hipgnosis also failed to sell a fifth of its catalogue – including songs by Nelly and Shakira – at a discounted rate of $US440 million ($675 million) to a private equity investor. It later sold 20,000 "non-core" songs for $US23.1 million ($35.4 million) to help pay off mounting debt and, in March, cut the value of its folio by 26 per cent .
The unanswered question is where these songs end up in the shuffle of sales and acquisitions, and how they are used. Who's to say an iconic artist doesn't wind up soundtracking a commercial or crummy movie they'd never had approved?
The future's uncertain but it's clear the genie's out of the bottle, and likely that catalogue sales will continue to shake up the industry and the value of artists for some time.
