When you want to see the best of what Northern Arizona has to offer, do it with our full-day Grand Canyon Complete Tour from Sedona or *Flagstaff.

Start off with a scenic and historic ride from the Red Rocks of Sedona, through Oak Creek Canyon (one of the top 10 scenic drives in America) and towering Ponderosa Pines of Flagstaff.

After meeting our *Flagstaff guests, we'll head up to Sunset Crater National Monument, the Colorado Plateau's youngest volcano. Here, you will be able to stroll amongst the dormant volcanoes and pristine lava fields as you learn about the history and geology of the area. While nearly a millennia old, these lava fields look as though they were created just last week. It appears to be such a lunar landscape, all of the Apollo Astronauts practiced their Rover missions here.

This is one of the finest places to shop for authentic Native American souvenirs. You may also visit The Gallery, home of many breathtaking pieces of fine and historic Indian Arts and Crafts.

After departing the Trading Post, we make our final leg to the Grand Canyon National Park with a scenic drive along the Little Colorado River Gorge and climb to an altitude of approximately 7,500 feet.

You will be able to gaze over 10 miles across the Grand Canyon to the North Rim, look down at the Colorado River nearly a mile below you, and get a glimpse of Navajo Mountain in Page, Arizona, over 90 miles away!

Climb up to the top of the Watchtower Observatory, one of the crowning achievements of Mary Colter, surely the finest architect the Southwest has ever seen.

Grand Canyon Explorer

Trip description.

Most Grand Canyon visitors only see the world famous attraction from the South Rim. Our Grand Canyon Explorer tour offers you the opportunity to see it from many different perspectives: the South Rim, North Rim, and beautiful Marble Canyon, the true origin of Grand Canyon. Enjoy an array of different day hikes in each part of the park: the classic vistas from the famous South Rim, a hike through a narrow ‘slot canyon’ near the Colorado River, and the peaceful solitude of remote viewpoints along the forested North Rim. You will spend one night in a lodge near Marble Canyon and two nights in the cabins at the renowned Grand Canyon Lodge on the North Rim. Each day brings a new adventure and constantly evolving views. This outstanding adventure is a favorite of our guides and will undoubtedly leave you with memories to last a lifetime.

Trip Itinerary

This fantastic Grand Canyon hiking tour begins at the South Rim. We kick things off with a hike on one of the South Rim’s best trails. The Hermit Trail offers a chance to hike below the South Rim while avoiding the crowds on the busier trails. Stunning views and tranquil solitude make this an excellent beginning to your Grand Canyon exploration. After a picnic lunch along the trail, we return to the rim and begin making our way east to Desert View for its spectacular and unique views of the canyon and the distant Painted Desert. We then exit the park and drive through the Painted Desert to our cozy lodge in Marble Canyon. After some well-deserved showers, we will head out for a delicious dinner at the on-site restaurant. Drive Time: 1.5 hours to South Rim, then 1.5 hours to Marble Canyon Distance & Elevation: ~6 miles, 1500-foot descent/ascent Light Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

After an early breakfast we are off for a full day of exploring. We will take a quick drive to the trailhead for our first hike of the day, an exciting narrow canyon that leads to the banks of the Colorado River in Marble Canyon. This fun hike involves a bit of scrambling over boulders and along rock ledges as it meanders through towering limestone cliffs on its way to the river. Then it’s back to the car for the beautiful drive up to the North Rim. Upon arrival, we will have a quick check-in at the Grand Canyon Lodge followed by a hike out to Bright Angel Point, an incredible viewpoint perched along a narrow ridge offering wonderful canyon panoramas. Dinner tonight is at the spectacular North Rim Lodge dining room. Drive Time: 1.5 hours Distance & Elevation: 6 miles, 350-foot descent/ascent Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Today we head out for a gorgeous hike through the North Rim’s ancient forests of firs, pines, and aspens. The Widforss Trail features terrific views, lots of fossils, relatively level hiking, and pleasant solitude. The trail contours the rim of Transept Canyon, a deep and stunning tributary canyon, whose floor is nearly 4000 feet below. Upon arrival at spectactular Widforss Point, we will enjoy a picnic lunch and savor the views before making our way back to the lodge. Enjoy some free time around the lodge before dinner: kick back and a rocking chair on the beautiful patio, peruse the book store and Visitor Center, shop for souvenirs, or stroll along the rim. Drive Time: 10 minutes Distance & Elevation: 10 miles, minimal elevation change Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

An early start will allow enough time for breakfast and checking out of lodge before heading out for one last scenic hike before the return trip to Flagstaff. Two great options present themselves: a hike below the Rim on the North Kaibab Trail to the stunning Coconino Overlook or Cape Final to a quiet and unique viewpoint offering views across the Painted Desert and Marble Plateau, and all the way to Navajo Mountain in southern Utah. We will explore through lunchtime before beginning our journey home. Expect to arrive back in Flagstaff around 5pm. Distance & Elevation: 3 to 5 miles, up to 800-foot descent/ascent Breakfast, Lunch Drive Time: 3.5 hours

“We wanted to hike and explore Grand Canyon but were not excited about camping. Dave, the owner, was an excellent help in recommneding the perfect trip for us. Since we were visiting in July, he recommended the Grand Canyon Explorer so that we could enjoy a variety of hikes and not suffer from the extreme heat that is so common in the bottom of the canyon at that time of year. We hiked on the South Kaibab Trail (incredible views!) and variety of “guide’s choice” hikes on the North Rim. Our guide Bob was incredible…friendly, fun, knowledgable, and so accommodating. He made us delicious lunches on the trail each day and made sure we were comfortable, safe, and having fun. The lodge accommodations were excellent…rustic, comfortable, and in the most beautiful places. And the itinerary was so well thought out. Every aspect was well-planned and expertly executed. We have already booked our next trip with Four Seasons!” – Mary C.

“The Grand Explorer trip was AWESOME! Perfect for my family and an excellent choice for exploring Grand Canyon in the summer. The North Rim cabins were simple but comfy and the setting can’t be beat…steps away from the canyon rim. We woke up early enjoyed coffee on the rim with practically no one else around. The guides were fantastic and the hikes offered great variety and incredible views. I couldn’t have asked for a better trip. We will be back!” Jude S.

“FANTASTIC!!! We did the 4 day/3 night lodge-based hiking trip to the Grand Canyon. Everything was executed with perfection! Karne was the most fun and best guide. She was very knowledgeable and prepared us amazing lunches on the trail. Loved working with Four Season Guides on this trip and can’t wait to book another one!” – Beth G.

The West Rim is the closest rim to Las Vegas. It is located about 130 miles from the heart of Las Vegas. On average, the drive takes approximately two and a half hours.

Yes, you can do a day trip from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon! This popular excursion allows visitors to experience some of the most stunning sights in the American Southwest. From Las Vegas, you can drive to the West Rim or Grand Canyon National Park along the picturesque Route 66. During the journey, you'll have plenty of opportunities to take in the scenery, capture stunning photos and make wonderful memories. Once you reach the Grand Canyon, you'll be able to spend several hours exploring its many viewpoints and trails before making your way back to Las Vegas in time for dinner! A day trip from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon is even easier when you take a Grand Canyon helicopter tour with Papillon or a Grand Canyon flight .

The Grand Canyon Skywalk, located at the West Rim of the Grand Canyon, cost a total of $30 million to construct. Designed by the Hualapai Tribe and built by an engineering team led by Beckett & Raeder Inc., the glass-bottom platform is made up of 1.5-inch-thick panels and can hold up to 120 people at once. While access to the skywalk is included in general admission to the Grand Canyon West Rim, visitors must pay an additional fee if they wish to walk on the glass platform. Visitors are also encouraged to take photos from the Skywalk and purchase souvenirs from a nearby gift shop.

The Grand Canyon Skywalk typically takes around 1-2 hours to complete, depending on the size of your group. Located on the West Rim of the Grand Canyon, it is a great way to experience stunning views of the area. The glass bridge extends 70 feet beyond the canyon's edge and offers 360-degree views across one of nature’s most majestic landscapes.

Maverick Grand Canyon Explorer Tour Details

The tour begins in the early morning hours in Las Vegas when a Maverick shuttle arrives at the lobby of most Lad Vegas hotel and transports travelers to nearby Henderson, NV and its South Las Vegas terminal. There, a Beechcraft 1900D executive-style fixed wing aircraft waits to take them on the 45-minute flight to Grand Canyon Airport in Tusayan, AZ. Once landed, another shuttle drives the approximately 9 miles from Tusayan to Grand Canyon National Park, also known as the South Rim . Visitors go to two popular lookout spots at Bright Angel Lodge and Mather Point . Generally, groups spend an hour at each area before boarding the coach for the next leg of the trip. During this time, each traveler receives a boxed lunch as part of the tour package to save time and allow them to fully enjoy the experience of the Canyon itself. Grand Canyon Explorer Highlight: Mather Point

Most visitors who arrive at Grand Canyon National Park, no matter what their means, encounter Mather Point since it is a short walk away from the Grand Canyon Visitor Center . Named for Stephen Mather, the first director of the National Park Service and a major advocate for establishing a Grand Canyon National Park, this lookout presents spectacular photo opportunities that showcase the quintessential panoramic views that the Canyon is known for all over the world.

There are two narrow rails set up at the end of rocks at Mather Point which project into the center of the Canyon itself. The view allotted by this extended area begins at Garden Creek, near Bright Angel Trial , extends over Pipe Creek and its canyon to the South Kaibab Trail in the east. Other views include Yavapai Creek and Bright Angel Point on the North Rim. From the vantage of Mather Point’s rails, you have a clear view of the North Rim , 10 miles across as well as the opportunity to gaze downward into belly of the Canyon itself and glimpse at the Colorado River below.

Is Maverick Grand Canyon Explorer Tour for You?

This compact and convenient tour is the perfect answer for travelers looking for a way to see the Grand Canyon when visiting Las Vegas but who don’t want to spend 4+ hours in the car or bus each way between destinations. Focusing on the most popular Grand Canyon lookouts at the South Rim , visitors get the chance to truly appreciate all the wonder of the Canyon in their short time while still getting the chance to enjoy all that Las Vegas has to offer that evening. This is an excellent tour for anyone who wants to see the highlights of the Grand Canyon but who doesn’t want to sacrifice their time in Las Vegas to do so.

Hey eight of us are very interested in getting a helicopter ride into the Grand Canyon in June, but didn’t know if this particular $359.00 trip includes riding over the Hoover Dam? My best friend and sister-in-law both used your service and they highly recommended you, also would you have anymore reduced trips to these areas?

This tour is not in a helicopter. It is an airplane ride to the South Rim Airport and then a ride to a couple points on the Rim. All of Mavericks air tours get good views of the Hoover Dam.

We are looking for a tour on August 19th 2015. We are staying at the Mirage. This would be for two people

Hi Linda, This is a great tour to take. Follow the links to Maverick to book this tour at a discount. If you book by the end of the month and take your tour on the 19th of August, you will save $60 per ticket. It’s always a good idea to book your tour early in your vacation.

Had a wonderful time, i would highly recommend, pilot was very nice, answered all of our questions. I was wondering if we could still order the video?

Frequently Asked Questions

This is the southern edge of the Grand Canyon, open year round as opposed to the seasonal North Rim, with the most iconic views including the historic Grand Canyon Village.

The west rim is home to the Skywalk and the Hualapai Tribe. This area is not the Grand Canyon National Park. It offers amazing day tours convenient from Las Vegas.

Tusayan is a small town located at the South Rim entrance to the national park…home to the Squire Resort at The Grand Canyon, BW Signature Collection

Typically we are part of a larger southwestern itinerary. Phoenix and Las Vegas are the major airports leading to the canyon. The drive from either location is incredibly scenic …with Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon leading up from Phoenix and the Hoover Dam and Route 66 along the way from Vegas.

Driving distances are great in the Southwest. While the next closest cities to the canyon, Williams and Flagstaff, are only some 70 miles away, it can often take an additional hour or more to get through the park entrance. You’ll want to make the most of both sunrise and sunset by staying close.

At 7000 ft (2100 m) we do get winter. Additionally, the high desert always has at least a 30F degree (15C) difference between night and day. Always pack layers, especially a windbreaker. Sunset is amazing and with sunny days come starry nights! Be prepared!

The canyon is entirely within Arizona. However, Arizona does not practice Daylight Saving…so although we are listed as MST during the summer months we are at PST. All tribal nations within the state do practice Daylight Saving…so be sure to check the time when traveling throughout the region in the summer months.
