Police Unity Tour History
In May 1997 the Police Unity Tour was organized by Officer Patrick P. Montuore of the Florham Park, NJ Police Department, with the hope of bringing public awareness of Law Enforcement Officers who have died in the line of duty and to honor their sacrifices. The PUT started with 18 riders on a four day fund-raising bicycle ride from Florham Park, NJ to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington D.C. raising $18,000.00.
The Police Unity Tour has now grown into eight chapters consisting of nearly 3000 members from all across the country. This past May 2023, we are proud to announce that we were able to donate $2 million dollars to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, bringing our total donations over $25 million dollars.
In late 2005, the Police Unity Tour pledged $5 million in support of the National Law Enforcement Museum. Inspired by our commitment and our motto, “WE RIDE FOR THOSE WHO DIED” the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund has selected our organization to be the sponsor of the Museum’s Hall of Remembrance.
Having completed the $5 million commitment to the museum in 2009 the Police Unity Tour dedicated the 2010 ride to the restoration of the walls of the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial. The $1.1 million restoration project included the re-engraving, coating and sealing of the over 18,000 names on the Memorial, as well as the cleaning of the walls and other Memorial improvements.
With the National Law Enforcement Officers Museum completed, the Hall of Remembrance is sponsored by the Police Unity Tour, in addition one of the two Entry Pavilions to the Museum would be named in honor of the Police Unity Tour. This recognition will enhance the awareness and understanding of the Police Unity Tour with every visitor that enters the Museum.
In 2023 The Police Unity Tour becomes stronger and stronger after the pandemic and was able to raise $2,000,000.00 for the Memorial.
Chapter IV History
Chapter IV, in Virginia, was organized in June of 2010 and ventured onto its inaugural ride in May of 2011. Although Chapter IV is based in “Virginia”, the chapter has riders and support members from all over the country. Chapter IV is one of nine chapters nationwide.
Our yearly trek takes us from Virginia’s Capitol City of Richmond, through the picturesque rolling hills of Charlottesville, winding through Warrenton, and finally into our Nation’s Capitol, Washington, DC. This route contains many rolling but challenging hills, as well as beautiful country views!

ABOUT CHAPTER II
The Police Unity Tour Inc.
Welcome to the home page for Chapter II of the Police Unity Tour! Chapter II is based in Southern New Jersey.
In May 1997 Florham Park (NJ) Police Officer Pat Montuore had a simple idea: organize a four day bicycle ride from New Jersey to Washington, DC to raise public awareness about law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty and to ensure that their sacrifice is never forgotten. With that, the Police Unity Tour was formed.
Twenty-six years later, the Police Unity Tour will arrive at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC, on May 12th, 2022 with more than 2,600 Police Unity Tour participants including riders, motorcycles and support personnel. These individuals are comprised from nine Police Unity Tour Chapters representing more than 40 states and several countries.
The journey is long and challenging. But for the Police Unity Tour participants, it is what they strive for throughout the year. Through fundraising and physical training, they know that their efforts raise awareness of the ultimate sacrifice made by so many law enforcement officers.
The last leg of the journey ends at the Memorial, where the participants are greeted by friends, family and survivors. Once there, many Police Unity Tour members present remembrance bracelets worn on their wrists throughout the journey to the families of the fallen.
This past May, The Police Unity Tour was proud to donate more than $2.05 million to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, bringing their total donations to more than $30 million over their history.
Inspired by our commitment and our Motto, "WE RIDE FOR THOSE WHO DIED"®,The Police Unity Tour is the sponsor of the National Law Enforcement Museum's Hall of Remembrance, the design and installation of electronic directories at the Memorial, the Memorial Fund's Officer of the Month Award and Recently Fallen Alert program.
In 1999, 22 members from Southern New Jersey began Chapter II seeing the need to expand the Unity Tour Family. Since then we have grown from 22 to over 200+ members.
Each year we depart from a southern New Jersey town and continue on with stops in Delaware and Maryland. On the last day we merge with Chapter I (North Jersey) and renew our partnership by riding together to the National Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial in Washington, D.C.
Chapter II starts each year by completing a memorial ride in honor of a fallen brother or sister. In 2022 we will continue that tradition by riding from NJ to Washington, DC.
We are all proud to be part of the Police Unity Tour and we are humbled by the opportunity to "RIDE FOR THOSE WHO DIED"®

- Ron Zeitlinger | The Jersey Journal
Jersey City officials and community members joined together Monday to show their support for the city police officers participating in the 2022 Police Unity Tour.
The 26th annual ride from New York to Washington, D.C. is performed in tribute to fallen police officers. The Jersey City Police Department Cycling Team raised $70,000 in donations for the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial and Museum in honor of the law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty.
The city paid tribute to:
- Det. Marc Anthony Di Nardo, who was killed during a raid of a Reed Street apartment building in July 2009;
- Det. Melvin Santiago, who was ambushed on July 13, 2014 outside a Jersey City drug store;
- Lt. Christopher Robateau, who was struck and killed on Jan. 5, 2018 while aiding a motorist whose vehicle had broken down.
- Det. Joseph Seals, who was killed by a two armed people on Dec. 10, 2019. The gunmen then went on to kill three more people in a deli on Martin Luther King Drive.
The sendoff was held on J. Owen Grundy Pier on the Jersey City waterfront.

Daybreaker's Purple Tour is celebrating civic engagement and getting people hyped up to hit the polls
By Jasmine Payoute , Scott Hezlep
Updated on: April 12, 2024 / 9:30 AM EDT / CBS Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- What better way to get yourself geared up to hit the polls than by starting your day off groovin'?
It's being labeled as a creative way to encourage people to vote and build community. On Friday, Daybreaker kicked off its Purple Tour in Philadelphia's Chinatown neighborhood with yoga and then dancing all in hopes of getting people out to vote.
It's one of the first stops in their year-long effort to bring Democrats and Republicans together and infuse the electoral process with joy and unity during a time typically marked by divisiveness, according to the founder Radha Agrawal.
The Purple Tour reminds people that civic engagement is something we should be proud to be a part of and something we should even celebrate.
This isn't your grandmother's voting experience though.
Here's what you can expect at the 2024 Purple Tour. Agrawal said a Daybreaker event is a three-hour-long experience beginning with one hour of yoga in an area filled with live instrumental music, like a calming piano. Once you're loose and ready to rumble, the next tour hours are an all-out dance party.
After the yoga and dance party on Friday morning, dancers were met with two party buses and shuttled off the polls where a pole dancer and a hot breakfast were waiting for them!
Agrawal said the group's broader mission is to combat societal divides and loneliness through the power of community and shared joy and this year was the first time they combined that with politics.
The Purple Tour will stop in 18 cities, with its last stop in New York City.
