ABOUT GREEN DAY
Formed in 1986 in Berkeley, CA, Green Day is one of the world’s best-selling bands of all time, with more than 75 million records sold worldwide and 10 billion cumulative audio/visual streams. The five-time Grammy Award-winning Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees released their breakout album Dookie in 1994 , which sold over 10 million and achieved 10x Platinum Diamond status, is widely credited with popularizing and reviving mainstream interest in punk rock, catapulting a career-long run of #1 hit singles. Entertainment Weekly calls Green Day, “The most influential band of their generation,” while Rolling Stone attests, “Green Day have inspired more young bands to start than any act this side of Kiss, and that doesn’t seem to be changing.” In 2004, Green Day released the rock opera American Idiot which captured the nation’s attention, selling more than 8 million copies in the U.S. alone and taking home the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album. Mojo declared “It’s exhilarating stuff, the kind of record that sets new parameters as to what is possible from a punk rock’n’roll band in the 21st century.” In 2010, a stage adaptation of American Idiot debuted on Broadway to critical and commercial acclaim. Released in 2020, Green Day’s thirteenth studio album Father Of All… debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Album Sales Chart and #1 in both the U.K. and Australia. Pitchfork declared, “Green Day’s most fetching and youthful songs in ages. The trio sounds reinvigorated, more like hungry newcomers staking their claim.” In July 2021, Green Day embarked on The Hella Mega Tour (w/ Fall Out Boy & Weezer). The global tour included 29 sold-out stadium gigs – including renowned venues like London Stadium and Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium. On October 24, the band announced the release of their highly anticipated 14th studio album, Saviors, coming January 19, ‘24 and released their brand new single, “The American Dream Is Killing Me.”

Green Day Playing ‘Dookie’ + ‘American Idiot’ in Full on Summer Stadium Tour With Smashing Pumpkins
UPDATE: Green Day have confirmed in an interview with ' Rolling Stone ' that they will be playing both 'Dookie' and 'American Idiot' in full on their 2024 summer tour with The Smashing Pumpkins. “What a fuckin’ moment it’s going to be,” says bassist Mike Dirnt , "We’ve never done anything like this before. And there’s a really good chance we’ll never do it again.”
Just over a week after the announcement of their forthcoming album Saviors and the release of its first single, Green Day have unveiled the dates for their huge 2024 North American stadium tour with The Smashing Pumpkins and a few other acts.
The trek is set to kick off at the end of July in Washington D.C. and continue on through late September. The Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid and the Linda Lindas will join Green Day on the majority of the run, except for a few dates, where only the latter two will open the show. Green Day teased that these would be the groups joining them during a surprise show they played in late October .
During that performance, they also played a new song called "The American Dream Is Killing Me" for the first time, which they released a studio version of last week when they announced Saviors.
“We’ve never been more excited to unleash new music than with Saviors, a record that’s meant to be rocked live, together. So let’s thrash. We’ve got some amazing friends who are coming along for the ride!” Green Day wrote in a statement for the tour.
Tickets for the general sale will be available on Friday, Nov. 10 at 10AM local time. Additionally, fans can sign up for the band's mailing list by Nov. 7 to get access to presale tickets.

Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong told the crowd at Fremont Country Club that 2024 would be a massive year for the band and its fans. “We are doing a big tour next year,” explained on the night. “It is going to be Green Day, Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid and Linda Lindas.”
American Idiot is enjoying its own milestone, its 20th anniversary. The band threw a lyrical grenade during their set Dec. 31 on ABC’s Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest , when they tweaked the politically charged lyrics to the title track, for a swipe at Donald Trump and the MAGA movement.
Released in 2004, American Idio t was the first of the band’s three No. 1 albums, logging three weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and, for a time, allowing Armstrong, Tré Cool and Mike Dirnt to authoritatively boast at being the world’s biggest rock band.
The North America leg is slated to start July 29 at Nationals Park, Washington, DC. Before that, a tour of the U.K. and Europe is locked-in with Nothing but Thieves, the Hives, Donots, the Interrupters, and Maid of Ace, kicking off May 30 at O Son Do Camiño in Monto Do Gozo, Spain.
Produced by Live Nation , this will be the band’s first major tour since the 120-date 2016–17 Revolution Radio tour and the 29-date, 2021–22 Hella Mega Tour alongside Weezer and Fall Out Boy.
The trek is announced ahead of the release of Saviors this Friday, Jan. 19. The band’s 14th studio album, Saviors is the followup to 2020’s Father of All Motherf—ers , which peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Speaking about new album Saviors , the follow-up to 2020's Father Of All Motherfuckers , the band state:
" Saviors i s an invitation into Green Day’s brain, their collective spirit as a band, and an understanding of friendship, culture and legacy of the last 30 plus years," said the band in a statement regarding the new album. "It's raw and emotional. Funny and disturbing. It’s a laugh at the pain, weep in the happiness kind of record. Honesty and vulnerability. What is Saviors about, you ask? Power pop, punk, rock, indie triumph. disease, war, inequality, influencers, yoga retreats, alt right, dating apps, masks, MENTAL HEALTH, climate change, oligarchs, social media division, free weed, fentanyl, fragility,,.. What would Andy Warhol do? What would John Waters do? What would Quentin Tarantino do? What would GREEN DAY do?"
The band recently headlined this year's When We Were Young Festival .

My first Green Day experiences date back to high school, I was 15-16 and it was like ‘93-‘94 before Dookie even came to be. I would see this punk band from the Bay Area perform in some local pizza place in Bakersfield, California called Jerry’s Pizza. From then on I was in love. Like IN LOVE! I loved the bands music! Their sound was something that just got me and to this day Who Wrote Holden Caulfield? is my most favorite Green Day song still. I take a lot of pride in saying I was part of the small percentage of people who loved their music before the entire world knew who they were. They are badass, Hands down! AND I’m thankful BJ had a sweet wife and family to help him when he needed it most and that he is still breathing and that he is here to give us more music with his fellow brothers of the band.

This was my first concert in the Pit, and it was the best night of my life. I got really hyped when I saw how close I was to the stage, and I met some pretty cool people there. When Green Day came out, I actually started crying. I was standing only a couple feet away from the band at points, and I know it was a night I'm never going to forget. I think what made Green Day different that most concerts was how they called so many people on stage and gave away so much stuff. Some people got to go on stage and sing lyrics, or play guitar, and actually got to meet the band members and I honestly thought it was so amazing because they made someone else have the best night of their life. This concert was hands down 10/10, in fact, it broke the scale.
It's been 9 years since Green Day made an appearance in Northern Ireland.
Boy did they make up for it
Rancid, Green Day's tour buddies. Started the show off with high adrenaline. So much so that a mosh pit itself began to form at the front of the stage. I was slap bang in the middle of it.
This high adrenaline show meant that when Green Day started the crowd was already pumped and ready. And they delivered on the he action packed, high octane poreformance everyone wanted. I would easily call this the best night of my life without question. It was a phemomonal performance from both Green Day and Rancid and I wold seriously recommended that,if they're coming to somewhere near you. You get tickets ASAP.

Green Day to Play ‘Dookie’ and ‘American Idiot’ Every Night on Summer Stadium Tour
By Andy Greene
Andy Greene
Green Day will celebrate the 30th anniversary of Dookie and the 20th anniversary of American Idiot by playing both landmark albums in their entirety on their summer stadium tour with the Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid, and the Linda Lindas.
“What a fuckin’ moment it’s going to be,” Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt tells Rolling Stone . “We’ve never done anything like this before. And there’s a really good chance we’ll never do it again.”
Dirnt estimates it’ll take about 90 minutes to play both albums. “We’ll then have about 35 to 45 minutes to throw down on other stuff,” he says. “And production-wise, doing these albums lends itself to some amazing possibilities.” (Green Day played Dookie straight through at England’s Reading Festival in 2013, and again last October at Full Fremont Country Club in Las Vegas. It took them a little over 40 minutes both times. American Idiot clocks in at nearly an hour on record, though.)

Dirnt is also looking forward to the chance to reconnect with the Smashing Pumpkins this summer. “I look back at some of their songs with nostalgia,” he says. “When we first got big [in 1994], we joined Lollapalooza. They were headlining. And for both of us to still be around, and still be vital, is huge.”
The tour kicks off June 29 at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. It wraps up Sept. 28 at Petco Park in San Diego. Prior to that, Green Day are playing a mix of festival and headlining gigs in Europe. They’re also playing a special SiriusXM show at New York’s Irving Plaza on Thursday night, just hours before dropping Saviors.
