Chamonix Experience is a mountain guide, ski guide and adventure company based in the Chamonix Valley, at the foot of the Mont Blanc Massif. Established in 1996, we have been organising guided trips and adventures for over 20 years. We work in close relationship with more than 20 highly qualified UIAGM / IFMGA mountain guides, each with many years of experience guiding worldwide and actively climbing and skiing themselves.

Chamex offers a wide range of courses and private guiding in Chamonix, Verbier, and Courmayeur. We also venture further away guiding clients on ascents of the Matterhorn, Eiger, Gran Paradiso and other 4000m peaks in the Alps. Our activities include off-piste ski clinics, guided ski touring, mountaineering courses, rock climbing and ice climbing. We organise private guiding for individuals as well as groups – from one day trips to week long expeditions.

Chamonix is not all about skiing and winter sports – there are endless possibilites for summer activities as well!

The ultimate mountaineering expedition and a once in a lifetime experience! At 4809m Mont Blanc is not only the highest peak in the Alps but is also the biggest mountain in Western Europe. However, with the right training and guidance it is an achievable summit for anyone with a good level of fitness and a strong will.

Our 6 day climb Mont Blanc course will prepare you with all the skills you need to get to the summit and look out over one of the finest mountain views in the world. Towering over the peaks of the French, Italian and Swiss Alps, Mont Blanc actually borders both France and Italy. If you prefer to go off the beaten track, you can reach the summit of Mont Blanc via the lesser known Italian route . Slightly longer and more technical than the classic French route, with no support from lift systems, it is one for the alpine purists who are looking for a more traditional experience.

We also offer 3 day climb Mont Blanc courses for experienced and acclimatized mountaineers, and bespoke itineraries for private groups, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch to start planning your trip

Alpine climbing

We offer ascents of the most prestigious summits of the Alps. If you dream about mountaineering, dream large: Matterhorn, Mont Blanc, Eiger …. all is possible. Our guides will help you to prepare for these climbs and our office staff will organise all the logistics.

We are developing a portfolio of Chamonix’s Greatest Climbs and Chamonix’s most Classic Climbs. Here is the list of routes which were hand picked by our guides as their favourites due to their beauty, interesting itinerary and impressive setting. You will climb iconic summits such as the Grandes Jorasses, Mont Blanc du Tacul, Les Drus or Aiguille Verte.

Our Mountaineering Courses are highly instructional following a set curriculum. We have developed these with the aim to help to transform people into independent alpine climbers. We teach climbing techniques and safety skills applicable on rock, snow and ice terrain.

Rock climbing

Realise your climbing goals with a Private Guide. We offer custom made rock climbing packages, individual climbs or educational Rock Climbing Courses. You can choose from our list of carefully selected routes or contact us for further suggestions tailored to your level and experience. We also organise Rock Climbing Trips to our favorite climbing areas across Europe.

Hikers who wish to discover the vertical world in a more conservative manner may be interested in our Va Feratta climbs which nicely blend hiking and climbing on steep terrain in less technical style.

Trek the haute route

Explore this iconic multiday hike from Chamonix to Zermatt, passing through some of the most beautiful places in France and Switzerland along the way.

You can opt for the classic two week tour, or our shorter one week version that takes in all the highlights. Either way, you’ll experience the Alps in all their glory as you hike past glaciers, through pine forests, and across flower-filled meadows. Both tours are fully guided and your luggage will be transported between hotels, leaving you with no more to think about than enjoying every moment.

Discover the tracks and trails of three beautiful countries on a multiday hiking tour around Mont Blanc Massive. This trip can be done in either one week or 12 days, staying overnight in remote mountain huts and traversing stunning valleys as we pass through the different regions. The trip is fully guided and all logistics are taken care of by our dedicated team based in Chamonix.

Our Expedition Training courses are focused on climbing and safety techniques needed for climbing in high and remote mountain ranges. Our company has a long history and experience in expedition climbing through our founder Russel Brice (Himalayan Experience). Our guides are highly experienced and active expedition climbers and we use their expert knowledge to create programs specialised in preparing people for expedition climbing.

Ski the vallée blanche with a guide.

Of course, we will also be offering our fully guided Vallee Blanche ski trips on the most mythical off-piste ski run in Europe.

A fantastic day out in one of the world’s most famous off-piste ski areas, you’ll start from the very top of the Aiguille du Midi at 3842m then ski down past stunning seracs, ice falls, crevasses and towering peaks back down to Chamonix.

Although experienced off-piste skiers will enjoy an incredible outing, this route is also open to less confident off piste riders thanks to our Vallée Blanche preparation course. This one day course, usually held at Les Grands Montets, will help refine your off-piste skiing and get your skills up to scratch so that you will be fully prepared for your descent of the Vallée Blanche.

Whether you’re an expert or an intermediate off-piste enthusiast, skiing the Vallée Blanche is a “must do” Chamonix experience – come and join us!

SKI TOURING COURSES IN CHAMONIX

Explore the backcountry on one of our regular Ski Touring Introduction Courses , we’ll take you far from the packed pistes and lift queues to discover untouched snow and peaceful descents on our favourite Chamonix ski touring routes. You’ll learn how to skin, kick-turn, use couteaux ski crampons, and much more.

Once you’ve mastered the basics, you can join us on one of our ever-popular Chamonix Ski Mountaineering course , 5 days of exploring the famous backcountry ski touring routes of the Mont Blanc valley.

Snowboarders are invited to give Splitboard Touring a try, we offer a 5 day course that will prepare you for long days out in the mountains on all sorts of terrain.

For a truly memorable experience, we offer various multiday ski tour trips such as the Haute Route from Chamonix to Zermatt, Silvretta , La Meije and Monte Rosa & Breithorn .

CHAMEX SKI & SNOWBOARD SCHOOL

We offer private full day or half day ski or snowboard lessons of both, piste techniques and freeride techniques.

Our ski and snowboard instructors are fully ENSA qualified and have profound knowledge of the ski terrain here in Chamonix as well as other ski resorts in the Alps. We personally selected our team for their professional experience, enthusiasm and friendly personality.

We welcome total beginners as well as experienced riders who wish to improve their technique.

I had great experience, very professional and well organised climbing days. Had the most amazing & fun time during my alpine course 🙂 and learnt a tone from the guides! I recommend for all aspiring alpinists.

I’ve done two trips with Chamex so far, one being a beginner alpine course and the second being a one day guided climb and I highly recommend them as a company. Prompt communication and assistance were provided both times, along with extremely professional guides who function with safety as their top priority and listen to your concerns. They’re also just a super friendly bunch who genuinely want to see you have a great day/week in the mountains. Can’t wait to head back to the mountains with them.

Julien was fantastic. He evaluated our level (experienced climbers) and chose a challenging beautiful route. We learned lots of good rope tricks too! Amazing fun day in the mountains! Highly recommend Julien.

Unbelievably good experience. Martin Elías was my private guide for 4 days, he was patient, incredibly experienced and an absolute pleasure to spend time with. From zero alpine experience Martin taught me ice climbing and alpine basics, completing a multi pitch ice climb in Cogne, Italy before tackling ridge du Cosmiques and Petit Du Verte back in Chamonix. The office team at Chamex are super responsive and efficient. Absolutely amazing experience, excellent and professional company and superb guide.

I just spent the week with Chamonix Experience and couldn’t recommend them more. From the first moment we contacted them they assisted us in every way possible to build our dream trip. The guides were always willing to go over and beyond what we needed, with incredible local knowledge and technical skills. They were as ambitious as we were to achieve our goals. We shared so many laughs and stories together. I’ll definitely use Chamex again in the future.

I had a really great experience on the alpine course 1. Staff was very helpful beforehand to help me plan the course and everything was well planned, although the conditions in the mountains was a challenge. The three guides were amazing! Helpful, inspiring and funny learning, I had 5 days were I was thoroughly introduced into basic climbing and alpine skills. Equipment rental was easy but a little expensive. In total, the course was worth all the money and I would definitely recommend chamonix experience!

We had a great week in the mountains. Chamex was great with communication prior to our visit and was available to us throughout our trip. They were very patient with us as we had a lot of questions about coordinating this trip. Special shout out to our guide Raphael who did a great job – he customized our trip so that we would be challenged but we always felt safe at the same time. He did an amazing job and we hope to be back in the future.

The CFF Railway Station at Genève Aéroport provides direct access to trains heading to Geneva's city centre, other Swiss destinations, and even cities in France. The journey between the airport and Geneva-Cornavin station takes 7 minutes. TPG city buses operate at the airport with frequencies of 8-15 minutes during rush hours.
