We came to Salem for Halloween weekend and booked this tour as our first activity in the Town. Jeffrey was a great tour guide and his knowledge and command of the story and narrative of the witch trials, geography and context behind the series of the events that took place is impeccable. He expertly connected the dots between people and places offering a sobering narrative with lessons that still apply to this day. I 100% recommend this tour. You will not be disappointed!

Awesome daytime walking tour

Very entertaining tour! Jeff was a master in his presentation of the facts and folklore surrounding the Salem Witch trials. He was very accommodating in booking the tour as well, because we made a few changes to the numbers in our party and he was very understanding. The hour and 1/2 went fast because our attention was focused on the storytelling by Jeff! Highly recommend him. I would not hesitate to book a tour in the future with him!

We had a brilliant tour with Dawn on a very, very rainy night, Monday 9/11. The content of the tour was interesting, it gave me a very good overview of Salem’s history. The tour was more history than hauntings in my opinion. Dawn really brought the stories to life and was very generous with her time and encouraged the group to interact and ask questions.

The Final Resting Place of the 20 Victims

The question of where Salem’s accused witches were buried has been asked for centuries, and the absence of marked graves is surprising. The truth is that convicted witches were not allowed to receive a proper Christian burial in cemeteries. According to eyewitnesses, the nineteen accused witches who were hanged were left in shallow graves at Proctors Ledge. In some cases, the graves they were put in were so shallow that body parts could be seen sticking out of the dirt.

You may choose tours based on their high ratings; you’ll find my tour there also. There are ghost and witch tours, haunted history tours with costumed guides, and then there is mine. A less commercialized, personalized tour. The 2.5 Hour Historical Walking Tour      It features captivating storytelling that takes precedence over bullets points and guest and guide interaction over scripted stops.  Salem as a community has a tapestry woven of many stories.  These stories are not limited to the Salem Witch Trials but of indigenous communities,  merchants, abolitionists and Salem’s contributions to the American Revolutionary war.     The narrative is supported with accurate and enthusiastic storytelling, time for questions and even music sung from the Bay Psalms Book, 1640.  Kenneth takes the tour through the beautiful historic McIntire District of Salem.   Ever mindful of having a tour that is assessible to persons in many ways but not limited to mobility.  If there is something I can do to make your visit to Salem better, I want to know.  I have given added description for persons with low vision and I have experience accommodating guests with hearing loss and their sign language interpreters..

The tour is closed on Wednesday and Sunday.

 I will be on hiatus from the tour, June 17th through July 10th, 2023 to travel through Ukraine.

The purpose of the visit is to stand in solidarity with Ukrainians, sojourn with friends and actively support volunteer work.

The First Witch

Today, a seafood restaurant occupies the spot where the Orchard of Bridget Bishop stood.

She was the First Woman in Salem accused of being a witch.

A man named John Louder testified he fought off an attack by a hideous, deformed monster,chasing it from his house, he followed it as it retook the form of Bridget Bishop and disappeared into her orchard.

She was eventually executed in June of 1692.

Since then, hundreds of accounts of eerie and unexplained apparitions have been recorded in this town; even the first president of the United States, George Washington,experienced a haunting during his visit to Salem in 1789 and fled the town immediately!

The tour culminates with a visit to Salem’s Old Burying Point Cemetery, dating back to 1637. This is the final unhappy resting place of Jonathan Corwin, prosecutor,and judge for the 20 women put to death.
