Mark Lindsay to Forgo Happy Together Tour 2021

mark lindsay happy together tour

In a statement on his Facebook page ,  Lindsay, who turned 79 on March 9, wrote, “After many thoughtful discussions… with my longtime agent… I’ve tried to make a decision that would be best for my long term life goals.

“My ankle injuries over the years — from childhood mishaps to falling into an orchestra pit to a major skateboard crash to jumping off amps to bouncing down a cliff on Maui — have all left a major mark on those joints. My left ankle isn’t in great shape, but my right ankle is the main problem – it’s a degenerative issue, resulting in bone IN bone with zero cartilage in the joint and painful even with limited use. The pain and damage ramps up with every mile I put on it.

“I need to be able to allocate my remaining miles the most logical way possible for the long term, and adrenalized stomping around on stage most every night for weeks isn’t the best way to do it. I’ve exhausted every option other than dialing back the miles I put on my ankles.

“I may potentially take a limited number of one-off live dates in the future, but only after evaluating each one carefully to determine if I can do it without creating more problems for myself.”

Watch Lindsay perform the Raiders’ “Kicks” in 2017

Lindsay, who had a pacemaker installed in 2018, alleviated fears that he was having any heart issues. “My heart and pacer are just fine and will require no further attention until my battery replacement is due in 6 years.

“Don’t worry…I’m definitely not retiring!” He noted that he will be finishing filming his hosting parts for a Where the Action Was ’60s documentary later this year.

Thanks Mark for a lifetime of good music. The Raiders were the soundtrack for my childhood!

One of the best . it seems he’s doing the right thing , taking care of himself. I can’t wait to see the documentary he’s working on. I’d like to hear a cd of all the songs they recorded for ” where the action is ” that were never released. A book about the show with guests and musical numbers listed would be great , plus a definitive book about the Raiders. The closest I have is a Goldmine cover story. I just watched every Raider clip I could find on Youtube from the show. I met Mark back in the early 2000’s and got his autograph on several record sleeves. He is such a nice guy. I do hope they get into the R n R hall, and its a shame they’re not. Let me just say there are tons of kids who picked up the gtr , drums or keyboard and started singing because of The Raiders , way more than Madonna & some of the other oddities in the rock hall. Enjoy your life Mark , you deserve it.

When, oh when, will the Hall of Fame come to its senses and put Paul Revere & the Raiders in? They’re long, long overdue.

Agreed! Tell Jann Wenner to loosen up.

2020 will mark the eleventh year of the highly-successful, hit-filled summer package tour, Happy Together.  The touring sensation that has criss-crossed the nation delighting audiences for a decade returns next summer with a show full of chart-topping hits from the ‘60s and ‘70s – FIFTY-NINE Billboard Top 40 smashes to be precise.  The tour is once again headlined by The Turtles, who also act as musical hosts for the evening.  Supporting The Turtles will be Chuck Negron (Three Dog Night), The Association, Mark Lindsay (Paul Revere & The Raiders), The Vogues and The Cowsills.  New to the tour this year are Mark Lindsay and The Vogues.

Headliners The Turtles are best known for their harmony-heavy California pop sound.  With hits such as “ Elenore ,” “She’d Rather Be With Me ,” “ It Ain’t Me Babe ,” “ You Showed Me ” and the title of the tour, “ Happy Together ,” the band ruled the airwaves in the late ‘60s.  Ron Dante joins the line-up to delight with his own mega-hit, “ Sugar Sugar ”.

Chuck Negron , formerly of Three Dog Night, returns to the tour for 2020 bringing with him his outstanding lead vocals on such global hits as “ Joy To The World ,” “ One ,” “ Mama Told Me Not To Come, ” “ Black & White ,” “ Shambala ,” “ An Old Fashioned Love Song, ” “ Easy To Be Hard, ” “ Eli’s Coming ” and more.  Three Dog Night scored an impressive twenty-one Top 40 singles and twelve consecutive gold albums in the late ‘60s/early ‘70s.

Also returning to the tour for 2020 is The Association , who enjoyed massive radio success in the ‘60s with such #1 hits as “ Cherish ,” “ Windy ,” “ Never My Love ” and “ Along Comes Mary ”.  This iconic vocal group was a staple on AM radio in the 1960s.

Joining Happy Together for 2020 will be Mark Lindsay , former lead singer of Paul Revere & The Raiders.  Lindsay and his high-kicking stage persona will be performing Raiders’ hits as well as solo gems such as “ Kicks ,” “ Hungry ,” “ Good Thing ,” “ Arizona ” and “ Indian Reservation ”.  Lindsay’s songs appear in the Quentin Tarantino blockbuster “ Once Upon A Time In Hollywood ” out now.

The Buckinghams will be back on the tour! The band formed in 1966, and went on to become one of the top selling acts of 1967, including their #1 hit “ Kind of a Drag ,” and other hits “ Don’t You Care ,” ” Mercy, Mercy, Mercy ” and “ Hey Baby, They’re Playing Our Song ” With 3 chart hits at one time on 2 labels, in 1967, Billboard Magazine named them “The Most Listened to Band in America.”

Rounding out the bill are The Cowsills , the harmonious family act (two brothers and a sister) that inspired the smash hit ‘60s television show, “The Partridge Family”.  They are sure to delight with their best-known songs, “ Hair ,” “ Indian Lake ,” “ The Rain, The Park & Other Things (I Love The Flower Girl) ” and more.

Hi Mark, This is Charlotte Pearson, I remember seeing you for the first time at the City Colliseum and I have fond memories of when we touched each other's hands and you put on an excellent show. But, of course, I have seen you at other venues before and I hope to see you in Austin, Texas in the future. Mark, there is a question I would like to ask you, but first of all, what would you think about coming to Skyline Terrace Apartments to perform in the Multipurpose Room that is downstairs on the first floor and this room is big enough to have things like this. And of course, you can sign autographs for me and other residents who live here and other fans too. Here is the phone number to talk to the property manager:512 -440 -0300 ext.3. Let me know what you think. 1212 west Ben White Blvd.#302 Austin, Texas 78704

He was completely fabulous! Voice and moves still knock me out. He and Micky Dolenz were a great team. I wishing could have had better seats but they sold out before I could confirm my schedule.

Husband and I flew in fromLos Angeles to see this show, that’s how much it meant to me and I wasn’t disappointed. I’d love to meet and greet sometime. Maybe another time if I can get the days off.

Please let Mark know, he’s fabulous. I’ve had some complicated Adulting in the last months so his music has been an antidote for me. So it was a gift to learn about this concert and have the time to see it. I’d live to see another.

Hello Mark, It's me Charlotte.I thought I would share something with you. When I was growing up in Austin, Texas, I listened to KNOW Radio and I heard Paul Revere and THE Raiders and I remember when I got my first album of Paul Revere and the Raiders greatest hits but these days I have collected compact discs with their songs on it.Also, I started to collect posters of you and all I need is an autographed picture of you which would be a welcome addition. Well, I would like to say good night now. Signed, Charlotte Pearson

Behind-the-Scenes Look at Tour Preparations

Putting together a tour of this magnitude requires a lot of time and effort. The performers and crew spend months preparing for the tour, from rehearsals to logistical planning. There is a tremendous amount of work that goes into putting together a successful show, from coordinating travel plans to designing sets and costumes. It takes a team of professionals to make sure that everything runs smoothly.

Another important part of the process is the creative aspect. The performers put their own spin on the songs they are playing, creating unique and exciting versions of the classics. They also collaborate with each other to create new arrangements and medleys. This is what makes the tour so special – the collaboration between the performers and the creative energy that comes from working together.
