The second leg starts in Sheffield in late May and sees them play 20 stadiums and/or festivals across UK, Ireland and Europe.

This leg ends in July in Glasgow for the band's first ever stadium show in Scotland.

28 shows in all have been confirmed for the follow up to The Stadium Tour 2022 in USA and Canada which ended in September.

Only Def Leppard and Motley Crue are so far billed for these shows.

Tickets are due to go on sale from 28th October (No fixed ticket price mentioned...).

ABOUT THE BANDS:

With more than 110 million albums sold worldwide and two prestigious Diamond Awards in the U.S., 2019 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame® inductees Def Leppard – Joe Elliott (vocals), Phil Collen (guitar), Rick Savage (bass), Vivian Campbell (guitar) and Rick Allen (drums) — continue to be one of the most important forces in rock music. Over the course of their career the band has produced a series of classic ground-breaking albums that set the bar for generations of music fans and artists alike. The group’s spectacular live shows and arsenal of hits have become synonymous with their name, leading Def Leppard to be heralded as the world’s greatest live rock band. Def Leppard’s influential career includes numerous hit singles and ground-breaking multi-platinum albums—including two of the best-selling albums of all time, Pyromania and Hysteria, capturing the group’s legendary tracks, bringing together classic Leppard hits such as “Rock of Ages”, Pour Some Sugar on Me” and “Foolin.” For the first time, in January 2018 Def Leppard debuted their full recording catalogue worldwide via streaming and download platforms. As they did with the original release of their records, Def Leppard dominated the worldwide charts again, which found their albums charting in the iTunes Top 10 in more than 30 countries, including Hysteria at #3 in the US, and #5 in the UK (36 years after the album had charted at No 1 in the Billboard charts). Def Leppard also had the #1, #2 and #3 records on the US catalogue albums chart. The band have gone on to amass a staggering 5.5 billion streams since 2018, reaching a younger 18-44 demographic that now represents 58% of their fanbase. Additionally, the band have garnered an impressive 15 million followers across their social media platforms. In May 2022, Def Leppard released their twelfth studio album Diamond Star Halos. The album debuted at #1 on the Apple and Amazon Music charts. The album also scored a Top 10 debut on North America’s Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart, marking the band’s eighth Top 10 album of their career, and garnered a #1 debut on Billboard’s Hard Rock chart. Diamond Star Halos had numerous Top 10 chart entries globally including a Top 5 debut in the UK. Following the close of their historic 2018 co-headline stadium and arena run in North America, Def Leppard sold in excess of 1,000,000 tickets and the tour grossed over $100,000,000.00, a massive feat in today’s touring world. Def Leppard & Mötley Crüe topped that number yet again with another sold out North American stadium run in 2022 selling over 1.3 million tickets which grossed a staggering $173,500,000.00. As always, the group keep pushing the boundaries with their electrifying live shows.

Hailing from Los Angeles, CA, the quartet —Vince Neil (vocals), Nikki Sixx (bass), Tommy Lee (drums) and Mick Mars (guitars) —  has commandeered the rock pantheon for 41 years. The band has sold over 100 million albums worldwide, garnered 7 USA platinum and multi-platinum albums, 22 Top 40 mainstream rock hits, 6 Top 20 pop singles, 3  Grammy  nominations, 5  New York Times  best-selling books, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and a  Netflix  hit movie. Mötley Crüe continues touring the world with John 5 on guitar as they push the visual limits of live performance.

Mötley Crüe  have amassed over 5 billion streams across digital platforms and the band has over 8 million followers on social media. Known for their iconic live performances, the band has sold-out countless tours across the globe in front of millions of fans with groundbreaking production highlights such as Tommy Lee’s drum-rollercoaster and Nikki Sixx’s flame-throwing-bass. They  pioneered the Las Vegas rock residency with a sold out run in 2012. Mötley Crüe’s hit songs  such as “Kickstart My Heart” and “Home Sweet Home” are frequently licensed by major brands such as  NASCAR, Dodge, Coldwell Banker, Carl’s Jr. and KIA  to name a few and their music can be heard on TV hit shows such as  Stranger Things  and  Cobra Kai  amongst many others.

The band’s biography “The Dirt: Confessions of the World’s Most Notorious Rock Band” became a New York Times best-seller in 2001 and has sold over 1 million copies worldwide. Members of the band have authored 4 additional  New York Times  best-selling books since. In 2019 Netflix premiered “The Dirt” biopic based on the bestselling book which became a global hit movie scoring a 94% positive audience score on  Rotten Tomatoes . As a result, Mötley Crüe gained an entire new generation of young fans who discovered the band through the movie and further solidified their iconic status, relevance and the timelessness of their songwriting.

Fans of the band are also able to buy/rent  The Retaliators  movie on VOD platforms now; Nikki Sixx co-wrote the haunting theme song “21 Bullets”and Tommy Lee makes a cameo appearance in the rock-infused thriller movie. For more info go to  www.retaliatorsmovie.com

Mötley Crüe remains a huge global draw 41 years into their career and, in the summer of 2022 co-headlined a nearly sold out North American stadium tour with Def Leppard. The tour is set to travel to the rest of the world in 2023.

Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Alice Cooper pioneered a grandly theatrical brand of hard rock that was designed to shock audiences of all ages.  Drawing equally from horror movies, vaudeville, and garage rock, the group created a stage show that featured electric chairs, guillotines, fake blood and boa constrictors. He continues to tour regularly, performing shows worldwide with the dark and horror-themed theatrics that he’s best known for.

His 2021 album “Detroit Stories,” inspired by his hometown’s legacy of rock, debuted on Billboard’s Top Album Sales Chart at #1, and his recent “Live From The Astroturf” video/audio release recently did the same on the UK’s Official Music Video Chart.

While preparing two new albums for 2023 release, Alice continues to do his nightly “Nights With Alice Cooper” syndicated radio show, and still manages to tour up to six months each year on the road.  Alice Cooper continues to bring his own brand of rock psycho-drama to fans both old and new, enjoying it as much as the audience does. Known as the architect of shock-rock, Cooper (in both the original Alice Cooper band and as a solo artist) has rattled the cages and undermined the authority of generations of guardians of the status quo, continuing to surprise fans and exude danger at every turn, like a great horror movie, even in an era where CNN can present real life shocking images.

Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard Set Dates For 2023 World Tour

Jacob Uitti

Updated:

Mötley Crüe  and Def Leppard have announced new tour dates for a joint upcoming 2023 world tour. The two rock groups are slated to hit cities in South America, Mexico, the United Kingdom, and more this coming year.

Videos by American Songwriter

The announcement comes after the bands enjoyed a tour of stadiums in North America over the summer, and now they’re headed abroad.

The new slate of gigs kicks off on February 18 in Mexico City. Later in the spring, they hit South America as well as the U.K.

The band began touring together after a two-year delay due to the pandemic. When they were able to get back on the road, once the COVID-19 epidemic quieted down some, they did so in style to big crowds. Though Mötley Crüe was largely without drummer Tommy Lee, who was only able to perform a few songs each night after breaking ribs in a fall just prior to the shows.

“We had an incredible time playing The Stadium Tour in North America this summer and we truly can’t wait to take the show around the globe with The WORLD Tour in 2023,” stated Mötley Crüe when announcing the upcoming global tour dates. “Crüeheads in Latin America and Europe: Get ready!!”

Fans can get tickets on October 28, with pre-sales starting October 25. For Mexico and South America, tickets will go on sale on October 27, with pre-sales starting October 21.

MOTLEY CRUE & DEF LEPPARD Hint Another Tour In 2023

  • June 2, 2022
  • 1 minute read

motley crue european tour 2023

Big news for Motley Crue fans worldwide.

With The Stadium Tour recently concluded, Phil Collen has revealed that the tour package will hit the European market in 2023.

In a recent interview with Chile’s Radio Futuro , DEF LEPPARD guitarist Phil Collen threw some light on the tour.

He responded (via Blabbermouth):

“Definitely. Obviously, this year we’re touring the States with MÖTLEY CRÜE , POISON and Joan Jett . And that starts in a couple of [weeks]… But the tour is gonna be three years — at least three years — for the album. [We’re doing] America this [year]. Definitely next summer is gonna be Europe. And then South America, Australia [and] Japan — next year, hopefully at some point, we’ll be playing all of those markets.”

Phil continued:

“When asked to clarify that the same package that is touring the U.S. will be hitting all the other markets as well.”

“That’s what they’re talking about. Obviously, I can say, ‘Yeah, let’s do that,’ but we’ve gotta ask them as well. But I think MÖTLEY CRÜE have signed up. So hopefully that’s all gonna come, and Joan Jett and POISON . That would be amazing.”

Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard Announce 2023 World Tour

The two bands will hit Mexico, South America, the UK and Europe next year

Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard Announce 2023 World Tour

After conquering stadiums in North America over the summer, Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard are taking their co-headlining tour worldwide in 2023. The two bands have just announced dates in Mexico, South America, the UK and Europe for next year.

The newly announced run kicks off with February 18th and 21st shows in Mexico City and Monterrey, respectively, before hitting South America from late February through mid March. From there, the two bands will hit the UK and Europe from late May through early July.

After a two-year delay due to the pandemic, Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard finally kicked off their North American “Stadium Tour” this past June. The outing began with Crüe drummer Tommy Lee only able to perform a few songs each night, as he had broken his ribs in a fall just prior to the launch. Eventually, he was able to play full sets, but then made headlines for encouraging fans to expose their privates during the second half of the tour. Overall, the North American trek was mega-successful, raking in $173.5 million in ticket sales.

“We had an incredible time playing The Stadium Tour in North America this summer and we truly can’t wait to take the show around the globe with The WORLD Tour in 2023,” stated Mötley Crüe in announcing the global outing. “Crüeheads in Latin America and Europe: Get ready!!”

One of the most iconic American heavy metal bands, Mötley Crüe was born out of the beautiful Los Angeles, California in the United States.

Formed in 1981, bassist Nikki Six met drummer Tommy Lee through a mutual friend, and decided to form a band together. The two set out to find other members and met guitarist Mick Mars (real name Bob Deal) who was immediately auditioned and hired. Lee then recruited his high school mate Vince Neil, who was still a part of the band Rockandi, to be their lead vocalist. After a bit of apprehension, Neil gave in and joined the trio to form the band you know and love as Mötley Crüe today.

In November 1981 they released their first album “Too Fast For Love” which was entirely produced and released by their own record label Leathür Records and set out on a Canadian tour. Using this forward movement of cult popularity in Los Angeles, their manager at the time, Allan Coffman, helped them obtain a record deal with Elektra Records; which they signed in Spring 1982. The signing meant a re-mastered mix of the album “Too Fast For Love” as well as a new album entitled “Shout At The Devil” in the works, which was consequently released in 1983. A mere two years later, they released a third album, “Theatre of Pain.”

Their quick success was not without consequence however. Their party hard mentalities meant a few run-ins with the law, reaching their first breaking point when Vince Neil crashed his car, resulting in death and severe injury to other passengers. While “Theatre of Pain” was sitting atop the music charts, Neil was found guilty of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence and served time in 1986. If that wasn’t enough, following the release of their fourth album “Girls Girls Girls,” their 1987 tour had to be canceled due to Sixx being found dead from heroin overdose; however, he was revived back to life. Eventually their new managers Doug Thaler and Doc McGhee convinced them to attend rehab and the band took a step out of the spotlight.

A clean and sober band, Mötley Crüe recorded and released “Dr. Feelgood” in 1989 and it shot straight to the charts and stayed for weeks. By October 1991, the band released their first compilation album “Decade of Decadence” which also shot straight to the Billboard charts; however, the 90s was generally not a strong decade for the band. Neil left, was shortly replaced by John Corabi for the release of “Motley Crue” which didn’t meet the commercial expectation as their previous albums. With contractual obligations lived out in 1998, the band took back their catalog, but tensions were still high resulting solo projects by Tommy Lee, Nikki Sixx and Vince Neil.

Luckily things picked back up in the 2000s resulting in a reunion, and release of the “New Tattoo” and “Saints of Los Angeles” (2008). However, this also meant the announcement of their retirement and final tour.

Live reviews

This is the fourth time I've seen the Crüe, and the second time at MSG. Even though I also saw them on tour with Aerosmith, and saw a show during one of their residencies at the Hard Rock in Las Vegas, this Final Tour show lives up to expectations. Vince even learned most of the words to the songs!! (Anyone who has seen Mötley Crüe live before will know that this is kind of a big deal. At previous shows I’ve attended, the audience sang nearly as much as Vince did.)

Nikki Sixx is my favorite member of Mötley Crüe, and he was in top form at this show, and even had a fire-shooting attachment on his bass for "Shout at the Devil." He also regaled the audience with the long story of how he moved to LA and pulled the band together. Even though I already knew the story from reading The Dirt, it was still great to hear Nikki tell it live, in his own words. While that little interlude brought the energy level down a bit, it did a nice job of bringing the night full circle and truly encapsulating all 33 years of the band's life.

Tommy Lee's drum roller coaster contraption was totally insane, spanning the length of the arena floor, and allowing Tommy’s drum kit to do 360 degree spins as it travelled along the track. The guys played a solid two hour set and definitely went out with a bang (literally - there was a ton of pyro during closing number "Kickstart My Heart," including Nikki’s afore mentioned fire-shooting bass).

The strongest testament to this show is that the next day I had to go online to check the rest of their tour dates to find out if I could possibly see another show on the tour (sadly, no other cities convenient to me remain), and a full 24 hours later I was still buzzing with energy.

However, to paraphrase Nikki, this show/tour isn't "goodbye" because the Crüe's music isn’t going anywhere – it’s going to be around to haunt us until the day that we die.

Mötley Crüe is Mötley Crüe. Loud, aggressive, sometimes out of key and sometimes the lyrics are skipped or mumbled. But the show goes on, and the presentation is excellent. There is fire. There are dancers. There are lights and lasers and explosions, even Nikki's flame throwing bass guitar is back! About the only thing missing would be a giant video screen showing the band's MTV hits as they played them. If you have seen the Crüe at any point in the last decade, then you know what to expect; ten to twelve standard hits, a couple of newer wanna be hits, a few rotating 'deep cut' tracks that really are not that deep anymore. Oh, and then there is the drum solo. On this farewell tour the antics in the drum solo depend if the venue can support it. Sonically, maybe you're better without the drum solo - the antics are cool, the drumming is not. To me Mötley Crüe has always been a band of individuals that somehow fit together when they need to rock the stage. Tommy famous for his off stage antics as much as his drumming stunts - both overshadowing his ability a bit. Mick's quiet, methodical personality never seemed to fit his guitar playing, or the band - but it works. Vince - well has he let himself go a bit too much? Still a great front man - off stage. Nikki, you get a little bit of everything with him, but he has the talent still to back up most of what he says and does. Though I am curious why they have dumped the new song from their set lists after just a few dates on the tour. This 'may' be the last tour, and it will satisfy most fans. But it's not the last time you will hear these songs. Expect side projects to keep these songs alive until a reunion of some sorts down the road.

If you’ve read Keith Richards’ autobiography, Life - and I’d thoroughly recommend it if you haven’t - you’ll know all about his attitude to his legendary drug-taking; fairly blase, for the most part, although he also largely insists that he only did them for utilitarian purposes - for the sake of staying up long enough to get songs finished, or to knock him out when there were too many ideas bouncing around his brain. I don’t know if any of the members of Motley Crue have read his book, either, but they’ll likely have treated Richards’ admission that hedonism wasn’t his sole motivating factor as a show of weakness; indeed, hedonism is the very foundation on which the L.A. band were built. There are far more classic tales of rock and roll excess than I can list here - bass player Nikki Sixx once had to be effectively resurrected after a heroin overdose with two shots of adrenaline straight to the heart - and all indications are that the lifestyles that made the Crue one of the most notorious bands in rock and roll history back in the eighties have begun to catch up with them, decades later. They’re currently undertaking what will be their final ever tour, running through to 2015, before retirement; as un-Crue a concept as that seems, though, they’ll be bringing their larger than life personas to the stage with them for one last run through the hits; expect a serious shot of glamorous debauchery from a band that nobody expected to be old before they died.

I saw Motley Crue on the Theatre of Pain tour when I was in High School and was blown away. I have been hooked from that moment. This tour is AWESOME!!! They are tighter than ever and engage the crowd from the very beginning! Alice Cooper was great as always but Motley set the standard and showed why they are the Gods of Heavy Metal and Glam Rock. Nikki Sixx played a Bass that shot Fire while he was shredding center stage. On With The Show was amazing and was electrifying the crowd. No one sat down the entire show. Shoreline at Mountain View was a perfect intimate venue for them. Their encore was on a mini stage in the middle of the crowd next to me. Motley truly showed that they love their fans and playing music. Mick Mars is a virtuoso on the axe. Even if you have seen them before go. If you haven't you MUST SEE THIS BAND. I have seen them a couple of times and they are true artists and take you on a journey that only they can. They play everything on this tour. Dr. Feelgood, Shout at the Devil, Saints of Los Angeles and Smoking in the Boys Room. They use smoke, fire, lasers and female dancers throughout the show. Nikki gives a different talk every night about being in the band and what the fans mean to him. Mick Mars does a solo that you will not believe. I am looking to find them somewhere else on this tour. It is worth every penny and MORE!!

Having seen Motley Crüe over 20 times since the mid 80's, this was bittersweet. The show was good, there were a few things that stood out. Vince's voice sounded a little tired and even more important, I really missed having the Tommy drum show at the Hollywood Bowl. Last time I saw them there they did have the roller coaster drums and this time with all the hype about his set up, he was not able to do it at the bowl. He also did not engage with the crowd nearly as much as usual, he just stayed back and played. I would have liked to hear more from him. All in all though, they played all the songs I wanted to hear and it was a fun evening. The end of an era and sad to see them go when they are still young and can clearly put on a great live show.

Motley Crue were my first concert. They were awesome then and were awesome in Greenville twenty four years later. A spectacle of sound, fire, explosions, and mayhem. Most of the crowd was on their feet and singing along for the whole concert.

Alice Cooper opened the show and brought all of his tricks: the snake, the guillotine, the Frankenstein monster, etc.

I've had a thought all week of how great it is to be able to see these guys on stage in 2014 and it might as well be 1990, 1975, etc. As a sports fan, I can't see Herschel Walker, Rickey Henderson, or Joe Montana perform like they did in their prime, but I can still see Alice Cooper and Motley Crue replicate their prime.

If you get the chance to see this show, go!

For one thing the first band (not Alice Cooper) was so loud and horrible we had to go outside to where the merchandise was sold just to get away. Alice Cooper was amazing as always... Mötley Crue was AMAZING! I've never seen them live! Their pyrotechnics was awesome, they covered alot of the years of music. Nikki spoke about how they ended up together. The only thing I was disappointed about was Tommy's drumset was small because people that have seen them live before absolutely raved about him and his drums: he didn't have one solo..and really didn't even get to see him excel through smoke. Overall I would definitely see them again. Seeing them perform live was great.

Seeing the boys one last time was great, Motley Crue did not disappoint. Having Alice Cooper start the concert was cool, it was my first time seeing him perform live and he sounds great. If they come to your town do yourself a huge favor and buy tickets to this show. All their top hits and a few from their latest albums made for one serious night of Heavy Metal!

Get there early, you'll definitely want the skull made out of band members' photos. I love my shirt!

MÖTLEY CRÜE held its first rehearsal with the former ROB ZOMBIE and MARILYN MANSON guitarist on January 23 in preparation for the band's shows with DEF LEPPARD . A short time later, MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx took to his Twitter to write: "Well that was fucking epic.

"@john5guitarist walks into rehearsal and we just rip the set from top to bottom seamlessly. That took 90 minute's and then the next few hours we just laughed and told dumb rockstar war stories.

"@MotleyCrue DAY 1".

He followed that up with an Instagram Story post thanking the band's crew and gushing that "today sounded insane."

John 5 joined CRÜE as the replacement for founding guitarist Mick Mars , who announced last October he would no longer tour with the legendary rock act because of his long struggles with degenerative disease ankylosing spondylitis. Ankylosing spondylitis is a type of arthritis that causes inflammation in the spine joints and ligaments and can lead to stiffness over time, according to the National Institute Of Arthritis And Musculoskeletal And Skin Diseases.

In October, Sixx praised John 5 , saying he "checks all the boxes" as Mars 's replacement following the latter's decision to retire from touring. Sixx commented on John 5 's addition to CRÜE while answering fan questions on Twitter . Asked why the band chose John 5 , who is one of the credited co-writers on the three original songs on CRÜE 's "The Dirt" soundtrack, Sixx said: "He checks all the boxes. He's a insane player. Has respect for our music, is funny as fuck and has history with us and we've written some pretty big hits together."

Sixx also addressed Mars 's announcement that he was retiring from touring, saying: "He's been a soldier along with us for 4 decades. We will continue to carrying our legacy to Generations of fans and honor Mick s request for us to keep touring as Motley Crue ."

In addition to co-writing the three songs on "The Dirt" , John 5 collaborated with Sixx and Desmond Child on Meat Loaf 's "The Monster Is Loose" . In 2021, Sixx and John 5 launched the L.A. RATS supergroup in which they were joined by Rob Zombie and drummer Tommy Clufetos .

The 71-year-old Mars — whose real name is Robert Alan Deal — served as MÖTLEY CRÜE 's lead guitarist since the band's inception in 1981.

In his statement, Mick said that he had decided to step back from live shows due to his "ongoing painful struggle" with ankylosing spondylitis and while he will continue to be a member of the band, he cannot "handle the rigors" of touring life.

Speculation about John 5 replacing Mars gained strength after the longtime ROB ZOMBIE guitarist failed to appear with the shock rocker at last year's Aftershock festival in Sacramento. Rob was instead joined on stage by returning guitarist Mike Riggs for the first time since 2006.

MÖTLEY CRÜE 's "The Stadium Tour" with DEF LEPPARD , POISON and JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS was originally scheduled to take place in the summer of 2020 but ended up being pushed back to 2021, and then to 2022, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

After selling more than 1.3 million tickets in 2022, MÖTLEY CRÜE and DEF LEPPARD and are going global in 2023 with their co-headline "The World Tour" along with special guest Alice Cooper . After the launch of European and Latin American dates, additional U.S. shows will take place in August.

Produced by Live Nation , the U.S. leg of the world tour kicks off on August 5 in Syracuse, New York. The bands will bring their electrifying stage shows across America throughout the month of August, including the first-ever show at the H.A. Chapman Stadium in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Def Leppard, Mötley Crüe Reunite for More Co-Headlining Stadium Shows This Summer

By Daniel Kreps

Daniel Kreps

After finally embarking on their pandemic-postponed trek earlier this year, Def Leppard and Mötley Crüe will bring their co-headlining tour back to North American stadiums next summer.

The two rock giants will be joined by Alice Cooper on the “The World Tour,” which — after a pair of Atlantic City shows in Feb. 2023 and a run of South American and European shows in the first half of the year — comes back stateside in August.

So far, the bands have only announced six dates, beginning Aug. 5 at Syracuse, New York’s JMA Wireless Dome and currently running through Aug. 18 at El Paso, Texas. Along the way, the tour will stop for the first-ever concert at Tulsa, Oklahoma’s new H.A. Chapman Stadium.

Mötley Crüe recently announced that longtime guitarist Mick Mars had retired from touring due to his continued battle with the debilitating disease ankylosing spondylitis; Rob Zombie guitarist John 5 joined the band as its new touring member.

“While change is never easy, we accept Mick’s decision to retire from the band due to the challenges with his health,” Mars’ former bandmates — Vince Neil, Nikki Sixx, and Tommy Lee — said in a joint statement in Oct.
