Fiji Holiday Packages

Along with access to azure waters and white sand, most beach resorts in Fiji have pools. Lounge under palm trees by the kidney-shaped pool at Toberua Island Resort or take your pick of seven outdoor pools at Hilton Fiji Beach Resort and Spa. Each villa and suite at Six Senses Fiji has a private plunge pool, while the infinity pool at Tadrai Island Resort overlooks the private beach, meaning you can wander from one to the other all day long.

Fiji has a tropical climate, so experiences wet and dry seasons. The wet season runs from November to March, while the dry season is from May to September – when most tourists visit. We suggest the best month to visit Fiji is the shoulder season of October (and early November), when there aren’t as many visitors and the weather remains warm.

A Fiji holiday can be as cheap or as expensive as you like. Accommodation options range from budget guest homes to five-star hotels, while public transport and taxis are relatively inexpensive. Food is generally cheap and there are plenty of opportunities to try traditional foods like roti, taro and babakau.

Fiji is a haven for adults-only resorts, with plenty of private paradises to choose from. Escape to Fiji’s first overwater bures at the award-winning Likuliku Lagoon Resort, savour the serenity of the ultra-private Yasawa Island Resort, or experience true tropical tranquillity at Matamanoa Island Resort, where you can snorkel over a marine sanctuary or lounge by an infinity pool, cocktail in hand.

Explore Fiji

Where to stay, things to do, where to eat, where to stay in fiji.

Each island, village and city has its own unique charm and way of going about things – so you’ve got a tough choice to make when deciding where to stay in Fiji! Whether you’re in search of pure unadulterated luxury or a more stripped-back approach, you’re certain to find what you’re looking for on one of the 332 tropical islands. Popular tourist spots on the two main islands are perfect if you're after resort living, boutique shopping, and beachside bars and clubs. In the surrounding villages, life is much simpler, and things run at a local pace. Some smaller islands are like a world all of their own, with no shops and resorts to be found.

The private resort island of Denarau is a tiny dot of tropical splendour just west of Viti Levu. World-class hotel chains like Hilton, Sheraton, and Sofitel are just some of your options for luxury accommodation. The marina is a hive of activity by the ocean, and the 18-hole golf course is a sight to behold – even if you haven't played a game in your life!

Coral Coast

This 80km stretch of splendid beaches and bays is an oasis of fine-dining and majestic coral reefs. Just a short paddle from the white sands, the gigantic reef is a wonderland of colour and life. This is a great spot for snorkellers and divers of all skill levels, and you're guaranteed to see something exotic and unforgettable.

Mamanuca Islands

The volcanic archipelago of Mamanuca is a barefoot paradise with 20 palm-fringed islands home to some of Fiji's most exclusive resorts. The waters are clear, and the secluded atmosphere is rather romantic. Weigh anchor just outside the untouched reefs and enjoy the serenity, or sail from island to island. Your days are sure to be filled with adventure here.

Taveuni Island

Known locally as the garden island, Taveuni is a nursery of native plants and wildlife. Hiking trails plunge deep into the dense rainforests that cloak the island. Explore a world of breathtaking beauty and majestic wonder. While hotels and accommodation are available, beachside camping is the perfect way to get among the natural majesty that Taveuni possesses.

Yasawa Islands

Towering out from the waters of the South Pacific, the Yasawa Islands are a splash of marvellous green against the waves of blue. On these islands you can escape from the trappings of modern life. There are no shops or banks, and the accommodation is back to basics. With gorgeous beaches and perfect weather, who needs five-star luxury when there's a hammock strung between two palm trees?

Kadavu Island

Home to only one town and a few dirt roads, Kadavu is a great place to experience true Fijian culture. Eat as the locals do, with fresh seafood and tropical fruit and vegetables in plentiful supply. Cast a line at all the best native haunts and reel in something delicious. Only accessible by boat, Kadavu is a great place to escape to true tropical bliss.

Prime Minister heads to Niue and Fiji

Christopher Luxon portrait

Prime Minister Christopher Luxon will travel to Niue and Fiji this week (4-7 June), as New Zealand continues to sharpen its focus and engagement in the Pacific.

It will be Mr Luxon’s first visit to the region as Prime Minister.

“Niue and Fiji are two of New Zealand’s closest friends in the Pacific. The Government is committed to deeper and more comprehensive relationships in the region and this visit is an opportunity to reaffirm New Zealand’s position as a trusted partner,” Mr Luxon says.

This year Niue marks 50 years of self-government in free association with New Zealand and Mr Luxon says it’s an important milestone.

“Niue and New Zealand have a unique constitutional arrangement and we work closely together. As we celebrate this anniversary, it’s important we also look forward to the next 50 years.

“Our mutual expectations and priorities, and how we can reinforce our special relationship, is something I will be discussing with Premier Dalton Tagelagi,” Mr Luxon says.

In Fiji, Mr Luxon will have his first formal talks with his counterpart, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka.

“Fiji is a critical partner for New Zealand, as we navigate the increasingly choppy geostrategic waters ahead.

“The partnership between our two countries is broader than most New Zealanders are aware of, from our close security cooperation to our business links, and – of course – our shared love of rugby.”

The Fiji leg of the trip will have a significant trade and economic focus.

“Fiji is our biggest trading partner amongst Pacific islands countries and there is plenty of scope to leverage even more economic opportunities for Kiwi and Fijian businesses,” Mr Luxon says.

Mr Luxon returns to New Zealand on 7 June.

Australian man fighting for life in coma after Fiji stabbing

Tourist Clayton Brett was admitted to hospital in Fiji with stab wounds on the day he was due to fly home. Photo / GoFundMe

An Australian tourist who was due to check in for his flight back to Victoria was instead admitted to a Fiji hospital with mystery stab wounds.

Friends of Clayton Brett have asked for urgent help after he was due to return home to them on May 1. The 43-year-old was reportedly in an induced coma due to the severity of his condition and the onset of sepsis to his stomach wounds.

Clayton’s family only discovered his condition after they began phoning hospitals, according to the NCA news agency. Step-brother Matthew Davis found he was in a Nadi intensive care unit after he failed to turn up for his flight and was not answering his phone.

“We had a bad feeling there was something going on, so we called the hospitals to see if by chance he was at any of the hospitals,” Davis told NCA.

Clayton’s father Terry Brett said that the shock of hearing about his son’s condition was only added to after learning the cost of repatriating him would be hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Clayton’s mother Jenny told 7News that total medical costs were upwards of A$220,000. Owing to the patient’s condition, the medical evacuation flight alone would be A$160,000.

“The worry was, for us, that if we didn’t get him home then we possibly wouldn’t get him home,” Terry said.

“We scrounged around the financial side of it for the Medevac with help from friends.”

Now repatriated, Clayton currently remains in a coma at Melbourne’s Alfred Hospital.

The family have set up a GoFundMe crowdfunding page which has so far raised A$27,500.

Matthew Davis said that he had set up the donations page on Friday for “life-saving interventions” for his step-brother.

Terry told 7News that any traveller planning on going overseas without proper insurance was “silly”.
