More than 5 million visitors have taken a riverboat cruise with Padleford Riverboats in downtown St. Paul.   They offer the largest selection of tour options (sightseeing, dining, themed cruises, school trips, and private events) and have some of the best deals on tickets and dining.   On Mondays, Padleford hosts a $10 cruise with 2-for-1 beers after 6 PM – an excellent happy hour option for co-workers and friends.

Located on the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway near Stillwater, St. Croix Boat and Packet (aka Stillwater River Boats) is home to one of the largest river tour boats in the Twin Cities Metro.  St. Croix operates six boats, seven days per week, with cruises from 11:30 AM to 8 PM.  Their largest boat holds more than 650 guests, with multiple floors of bars and dining and a terrific roof deck for river viewing.

If a relaxing Sunday afternoon cruise down on beautiful river floats your boat (totally pun intended) then you might want to make a trip to Stillwater to catch one of these "River Queens". Stillwater itself is a tourist draw. It is a beautiful river city on the St. Croix, one of my favorite rivers in Minnesota. We took a cruise on the Empress, a ship harking back to the days when river boats ruled the waterways of America. The ship itself is very beautifully crafted and rides very smoothly through the water. If you have ever been down south to New Orleans, they have a very familiar set up down there. The ship also had a live band playing classic Midwest Jazz. You couldn't help grab a chair on the top deck, soak in some sun, and listen to some music. The food they had on board was pretty good. My wife really liked the pot roast. It was a classic Sunday luncheon: salad, coleslaw, chicken, pot roast, roll, and cookies. Each level of the ship has a bar with a good assortment of drinks including Lift Bridge beer made right in Stillwater. The cruise lasted for about 2.5 hours and we got to see the new bridge that is being built across the St. Croix River. Very cool experience and a neat thing to try while in Stillwater. *Keep in mind that you will want to arrive in Stillwater with plenty of time to spare before the boat leaves because parking can be a hassle to find, especially on the weekends. This place is a tourist city and the nearby parking lots get full fast. It is not the fault of the boat company though, they are right on the river so there isn't much space to put parking. Be prepared to walk a short distance to get to the boats. And for the sake of other patrons and the crews, DON'T BE LATE!

Our son and his wife came for a visit. This River Boat Cruise was just perfect. Beautiful cruise, nice lunch, and service was above and beyond.

I stopped by here yesterday (Memorial Day) with my wife for the lunch cruise. We arrived to the dock about 45 minutes early and were able to easily pick up our tickets and shortly thereafter head onto the boat. Once on board we were able to pick our seats and chose a table near the window. Then we waited until about 5 minutes past the sailing time to head out into the St Croix River. On this day there were quite a number of people taking the cruise and so we had a three story boat with the first two stories being air conditioned. While there were a number of people on board it never felt crowded and we were easily able to change our seats between the three levels. Our favorite of the bunch was under the shade in the open air of the third floor. It allowed you to enjoy the water and all of its beautiful surroundings. Lunch on this day was buffet style as expected. The main course for the day was make it yourself cold cut sandwiches (turkey, salami, pepperoni or roast Beast) and a chicken casserole. When one of the workers was asked what the casserole was, she replied "chicken or something" which got a good laugh from everyone around us. She did eventually go and figure out exactly what it was for us. Besides the main courses they had a pasta salad with sun dried tomatoes, zucchini, squash, cucumbers and feta cheese which I enjoyed and then potato salad and fruit. For dessert there were cookies and water and coffee were the included drinks. Since it was hot outside (100 degrees) it was nice that they had a place to get water on each deck level. All of the food on board was decent which is all that my wife and I were looking for since we were really there for the boat ride. The bottom line for me is that I would recommend this ride to anyone who hasn't been on the St. Croix river before. At ~$23 for lunch and the cruise, it's a steal and the St. Croix is a beautiful river.

Really good experience for an easy and affordable date idea. I was impressed with the breakfast... decently affordable and a good selection to choose from. The drinks were okay... not a lot to pick from and a bit on the expensive side. Overall, would recommend this to anyone.

We did an October Friday AND Saturday night cruise. We LOVED it. My wife kept thanking me for the weekend. The food was AWESOME. The atmosphere was AWESOME. It was a two GREAT evenings!!! So much fun!! We will be back.

Great experience! Well worth the price! The food was good, the staff was excellent, as were the musicians! It's a really fun river cruise.

The cruise was enjoyable but the food was not. The jazz band was fun and took the time to mix with the cruisers. There is plenty of space for additional people. The bar tender was very helpful with choosing a drink. It was a beautiful day so we were able to completely enjoy the scenery.

We had a blast. My husband and I didn't know quite what to expect and were so pleased. The atmosphere, service and food were great, especially considering the reasonable price. The ride was spectacular in early October and we are already planning our next cruise.

Fun trip for my family. I went with my parents and son for Sunday Brunch and everything went smoothly.

Gondola Romantica

We can’t even begin to express how wonderful our gondola romantica ride was!  It was definitely the highlight of our trip and one we plan to do again.  Ramo was so very informative, not too much so that it invaded our romantic interlude, but just as much as we wanted.

There is not a thing we would suggest changing and we will definitely be back as well as recommend this to all of our friends.

We had a gondola ride with Noah on Friday at 9 pm and it was perfect! We were celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary and both my husband and I agree that the best part of celebrating in Stillwater was the gondola ride. Noah was so polite and professional, but still fun. The ride was beautiful and when he starting singing it was over the top great!

Thank you for an unforgettable night! I can imagine that there are many couples who get engaged on your boat 🙂 but I hope that you were blessed in a special way this evening!

The Dock Cafe

Several of our cruises include meals at the Dock Café, with its wonderful riverside deck. Our close relationship with them allows us to coordinate your meal and your cruise. Vegetarian options are available.

Comfortable Seating

You’ll find sinking into our cushioned seats very relaxing. If the night turns a little cool, we provide down comforters for snuggling.

Bring Your Own Picnic

Bring a picnic basket or snack and beverage to enjoy while drifting down the river. Alcoholic beverages are permitted.

Great Photo Ops!

The gondolier is always happy to take your picture for a record of your trip. And great scenery along the way provides even more opportunities.

Lady Chateau charters to groups for business and social events. Entering our 32nd summer season on the St Croix, Lady Chateau offers the finest of yachting, food, and hospitality on the beautiful St Croix River. Our Crew has won the Minnesota ''HOSPY'' Award for outstanding service, and will make you feel like ''The Admiral''. Our typical party size averages 20-30 guests. The Lady Chateau is capable of accommodating nearly 70 people for virtually any event or occasion. The main salon, featuring a bar and buffet area, leads to the new Euro transom extension. Etched glass by a renowned Florida artisan highlights the entrance to this new extension which has become a favorite place to party or just relax in quiet conversation. The vast top deck provides comfortable seating either in the sun or shaded areas. The flybridge may be enclosed at your request. An intimate salon and two bathrooms welcome you below deck. The Lady Chateau departs from the Stillwater Yacht Club on the beautiful St. Croix River.
