Cruise nightclub on St John Street in Chester city centre has taken to social media to announce its temporary closure

Chester nightclub Cruise has announced its temporary closure, with the company citing 'maintenance' reasons on their social media account.

The club, which is on St John Street in Chester city centre , took to Facebook to post that it was closed for 'maintenance' issues on both Saturday, January 21 and again yesterday, Monday, January 23.

The club is run by a company called Odysian Ltd, whose registered office is in Preston. They are currently listed on the Companies House website as being in liquidation.

CheshireLive has reached out to contact the owners but has had no response at the time of publication.

The company's social media post regarding the closure states: "Due to ongoing maintenance issues we are still unable to open tonight 23 January. We hope to be up and running again very soon hosting the best Monday nights in Chester."

Cruise opened back in 2008 . Back then, CheshireLive reported that operations manager Nick Harding and business partner Brendan McLoughlin, founders of Odysian Ltd, had spent £2.6m fitting out Chester’s biggest venue based on their conviction that Chester lacked a quality venue for the 21-45 age group, open until the early hours.

Nick Harding told CheshireLive that the three-storey, 1,550 capacity venue, comprised six very distinct themed experiences inspired by some of the world’s greatest party destinations.

Over the years it has played host to a number of celebrities, including the Real Housewives of Cheshire stars Stacey Forsey and Seema Malhotra and former Love Island cast members Mike Thalassitis and Chris Hughes.

WEST CHESTER — Featuring rooftop dining later this summer, while serving craft cocktails and beers and highlighting an open kitchen, Serum Kitchen & Taphouse at 142 E. Market St. is now open.

Forty-five employees will host diners who enjoy high-end cocktails and everything from New York strip steak, arctic char, pub burgers, double pork chops and fried chicken. Prices for main dishes will run from $18 to $38.

The new bar and restaurant will feature five beers brewed from co-owned Imprint Beer Co., in Montgomery County.

Husband and wife team Ryan and Lisa Diehl own the new 4,000-square-foot eatery with 150 seats inside in the main brick-lined dining room and 50 seats on the roof. The couple has owned Imprint Beer Co., a brewery and retro arcade in Montco, for six years. Both came from the corporate world and wanted to try something different.

“We want to bring a lot of beer from our craft beer friends around the country,” Ryan Diehl said. “We prepare amazing food from a scratch kitchen and have a full bar specializing in classic and innovative cocktails and craft beers.

“We focus on elevated details within an approachable, casual dining experience.”

The beer menu will include many lagers, hazy IPAS, sours and stouts from the country’s best craft breweries.

The couple is focusing on the open kitchen that can be viewed from almost every seat, amid those exposed brick walls.

“You are getting everything out and into the open,” Ryan Diehl said.

Lisa Diehl said she is having fun.

“When we opened the brewery (Imprint) we met a lot of fun people — the community was enjoyable,” she said. “We wanted to expand into a full experience and that’s why we’re opening the restaurant.”

With a daughter who attended West Chester University, the couple picked the borough because of its many great places to eat and drink, according to Ryan Diehl.

Serum Kitchen & Taphouse is open Tuesdays through Sundays. Hours: Tuesday through Thursday: noon to 11 p.m.; Friday: noon to midnight; Brunch is served on Saturdays and Sundays; Saturday: 11 a.m. to midnight and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The upcoming rooftop deck will feature table service and live music, with a relaxing outdoor vibe.

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy  came under fire after he did not return to the Garden State following the historic earthquake on Friday that left residents rattled.

U.S. Rep. Jeff Van Drew , N.J.-R, spoke with “FOX News Live” on Saturday after Murphy did not issue an on-camera address to residents, despite a few TV and phone interviews, including an interview Saturday with CBS.

“We haven’t heard from the governor — and you know, on a lighter side, Arthel, there are those that say maybe it’s good he didn’t come, because every time he’s in New Jersey, he’s increasing taxes, tolls, fees and subsidizing illegals,” Van Drew told “FOX News Live” co-anchor Arthel Neville. 

“But on a serious note, he wasn’t at a world summit for world peace. I mean he was at a Democratic convention — basically an association of democratic governors who were probably working on ways to make more democratic governors,” he said.

Van Drew said that residents were forced to look to New York leadership for guidance during the natural disaster — rather than their own governor.

“So I think he could have taken maybe even 12 hours out to come back to New Jersey. Our folks in New Jersey really had to look to New York — to New York officials — and what they were saying,” Van Drew said.

“Even though the actual earthquake was centered in Lebanon, New Jersey, in the northwestern part of the state.”

The Republican representative said Murphy could have easily traveled back to his state to assure residents that they were safe.

“It would have been a nice symbol if he came back and said, ‘you know what, everything’s going to be OK. I want to personally review the infrastructure myself, see what the team has done, and then he could have gotten back to the convention, the association that he was at,” Van Drew said.

“So I personally was a little disappointed that he didn’t make it. It’s just good for people to know that their leaders are there during times of problems,” he said.

“And even though, in, you know, the world scheme of earthquakes, with what California sees or some other states — this was not huge — it was the biggest earthquake the state of New Jersey has had almost in a century and a half. I wish he had been there.”

Fox News has reached out to Murphy’s office for comment.

On Saturday, the governor wrote on X that the state’s emergency operations center was deactivated on Saturday morning.

“Our State Emergency Operations Center has deactivated as of 10:00 a.m. today,” Murphy wrote.

“We have had no reports of major damage to structures, roadways, or infrastructure as a result of yesterday’s earthquake .”

The earthquake measured at least 4.8 magnitude and struck near Lebanon, New Jersey, at 10:23 a.m. on Friday, about 45 miles west of New York City and 50 miles north of Philadelphia, according to the USGS. 

An estimate indicates the quake might have been felt by more than 42 million people in 14 states from Maine to North Carolina. More than two-dozen aftershocks have been felt since.

More than 152,000 Americans reported feeling shaking to the USGS.
