3 Day Disney Cruise Review (Is it worth it?)

Mickey ears on cruise ship

Are you considering booking a Disney Cruise vacation with a 3-day itinerary? Maybe you’re afraid 3-night cruises are too short.

Is a 3-day Disney cruise even worth it? Some experienced Disney cruisers will tell you that they would never cruise for less than 7 days and that a longer cruise is always the way to go. That may be true for some, but not everyone has the budget for an extensive Disney cruise vacation.

Maybe you aren’t able to take off work for a long enough period of time to enjoy a week-long cruise. Or perhaps you are worried a cruise isn’t the right type of vacation for your family, and you don’t want to commit to a long itinerary. Regardless of your reasoning for choosing a 3 day Disney cruise, it’s important to note that you will still receive the same amazing service, experience, and activities as those families sailing on Disney Cruise Line’s longer itineraries.

The post below will review my family’s time on a 3 day Disney cruise so that you can see all the reasons why we think a 3-night cruise is totally worth it! We’ll compare prices for short cruises vs long itineraries, and we will discuss the family-friendly entertainment that you’ll enjoy while cruising with Disney .

Disney 3 Day Cruise Price

Let’s be honest, a trip with Disney Cruise Line isn’t the cheapest way to travel. But like many things in travel, you get what you pay for. And the quality Disney provides makes up for the cost. If you are looking for a budget friendly way to sail on Disney cruise ships, the three-day cruises are typically cheaper than those with longer itineraries.

You can really trim down the extra costs by traveling on one of these shorter itineraries, especially if your sail dates aren’t during peak season. For example, my family’s 3-night Disney cruise on the Disney Fantasy was much more budget friendly than the longer cruises we have taken with Disney and other cruise lines.

When you calculate excursions, tips, and items you buy onboard, this statement becomes even more accurate. There are several factors that go into the total price of a Disney cruise. Once you are aware of all the costs, you can possibly tweak your budget to save in some areas while maybe even splurging in others!

So, how much does a 3 day Disney cruise cost? In addition to the price you pay for booking your Disney Cruise stateroom, you will want to budget for some additional costs. We will cover these in more detail below, so you can better determine how much a 3 day Disney cruise vacation will cost you.

Port Adventures

Port Adventures (also known as shore excursions ) are those activities that you experience while you’re off the ship and while visiting ports of call. Many of Disney Cruise Line’s 3 day cruises are Bahamian cruises that visit Nassau and Castaway Cay. So, your port adventures would include the experiences you booked for those port stops.

For example, if you chose to book tickets to the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas, you would include this activity in your budget for port adventures . The total cost of a Disney cruise can largely depend on the shore excursions you book. If you’re looking to save money, Castaway Cay is a great place to stop on your Disney cruise.

Castaway Cay beach

Since Castaway Cay is Disney’s private island in the Bahamas, you can enjoy the beaches and many activities at no additional charge to your cruise fare. In fact, this is how my family and I saved on one of our 3-night Disney cruises. We booked a 3 day cruise that was classified as a double dip to Castaway Cay . This means we visited the private island twice on our cruise!

Since we chose to spend our two days on Castaway Cay just hanging out at the beach, this port didn’t cost us any additional money. Even if you aren’t able to find a double dip cruise, a 3 day Disney cruise only has time to visit a couple of ports. Therefore, you shouldn’t need to budget a ton of more money to pay for excursions on the islands you are visiting.

Another additional cost you will want to consider when budgeting for your 3 night Disney cruise is gratuities. Guests vacationing with DCL are charged $14.50 a day per person for gratuities. So, if you are traveling as a family of four, you would spend $58 per day on gratuities alone. This means that the total amount of gratuities at the end of a 3 night cruise would be $174 for a family of four.

Disney Fantasy cruise ship

When you compare this to the gratuity amount after a 7-night cruise, you can really see how much money you save on shorter itineraries. The gratuities for a family of four on a seven-night cruise totals $406, which is quite a bit more than the Disney 3-day cruise tip amount. As you can see, if you extend your cruise length, that tip money can add up quickly!

Additional Purchases

The more days and nights you spend on the Disney ship, the more you may feel enticed to make additional purchases. For example, when my family and I travel with Disney Cruise Line, we often spend extra money on things like popcorn for the live shows, adult beverages, and keepsakes from the gift shops.

Port Canaveral Disney Cruise Line terminal

These little items can add up, but the final bill for them typically isn’t that extravagant after only 3 days. On the contrary, if you make these little purchases each day for seven days, your final bill may end up coming with a bit of sticker shock.

If you’re someone who likes to plan and stay organized with your vacations, you’ll love this printable Disney cruise planner I created. While planning my family’s last cruise, I designed graphic organizers and spreadsheets for each step of the planning process.

Disney Cruise Planner

Originally, I created this printable cruise planner for my own personal use. However, I ended up making it “pretty” and deciding to share it with my readers. The 30+ page cruise planner includes organized sheets for the following:

  • hotel, flight, and transportation price comparisons
  • list of essentials for packing plus blank packing list
  • trip budget including many of the items discussed above
  • fish extender planner
  • planning timeline so you know what to do when

This planner also includes my daily itinerary complete with outfit planners. This REALLY helps in the packing process!

3 Day Cruise (but 4 Night Vacation)

As we discuss whether or not a 3 day Disney cruise is worth it, it’s important to point out that your vacation will (more than likely) be longer than three nights. If you are flying into the port for your cruise, I HIGHLY recommend getting there at least the day before embarkation day . Even if your travel party ends up making it to the ship, you will want to know your luggage has plenty of time to get there as well.

Flying into your departure port (at least) a day early allows for delayed flights, lost luggage, etc. This extra time allowance also extends your three-night cruise into a 4-night vacation! Similarly, you can extend your cruise vacation by adding an extra day to the end of your cruise.

Epcot ball and monorail

Sometimes flight times and prices don’t work out to fly home immediately after you leave the ship. Instead, you may consider booking a hotel room for the day you disembark the cruise ship. This way you have more flexibility with flight times on the following day. This is an especially appealing idea if your Disney cruise sails out of Port Canaveral, Florida.

Since Port Canaveral is less than an hour’s drive to Walt Disney World, you could get off the cruise ship and arrive at a Disney resort by late morning. It is much easier to say goodbye to your Disney cruise vacation when you know you have Disney World to look forward to!

3 Day Disney Cruise Activities

One of the reasons many families are nervous to book a 3 day cruise is that they are afraid they won’t have time to enjoy the Disney ship. From personal experience, I have to share that even though a 3-night Disney cruise is a shorter itinerary, you will still have plenty of time to experience the activities available on board. Now, don’t get me wrong. You definitely won’t get to see and do all the things that are offered on your cruise.

BUT cruisers say that very same thing about 7-night cruises! No matter how long you choose to sail, you will always feel like you missed some sort of activity or entertainment option. However, you spend so much time enjoying the activities you do get to experience that those options you missed really don’t matter in the end.

Oceaneer Club on the Disney Magic

Our advice when planning a 3 day cruise is to go in super prepared. I like to look at personal navigators from prior cruises to see which activities are offered on a 3 day itinerary. From there, you can decide which activities are the most important to your family. More than likely, you won’t have a problem making time for each one.

As an example of what your schedule may look like and how much time you need for activities, I’m going to share my family’s first few hours onboard the ship for our 3-night cruise to the Bahamas. Once we embarked on the first day at around 11:30, we had time to complete all of the following activities before we even set sail:

  • meet Disney characters
  • buffet lunch at Cabanas
  • swim in ship pools
  • unpack and organize stateroom
  • visit guest services to request a stroller
  • order snacks from room service

Additionally, I want to include that Disney 3 day cruises feature the same magical experiences as longer cruises, including Pirate Night, Broadway style shows, character meet and greets, fireworks, swimming pools, and more!

Ways to Save Money

As mentioned above, many of the 3 day cruise itineraries visit the Bahamas. This means that you more than likely would be making a stop at Castaway Cay during your cruise. Being able to experience this beautiful private island in the Bahamas is reason enough to book a Disney cruise.

Castaway Cay Beach

Since guests do not have to pay an additional fee to use the beaches and many of the activities on Castaway Cay, this island is the perfect port of call for budget conscious travelers. The buffet lunch on Castaway Cay is even included in your cruise fare!

If you’re looking for an additional way to save money on a Disney Cruise Line vacation, you can book a future cruise onboard for a discount. This way your next Disney cruise vacation can be a longer, pricier one with possibly a less expensive price tag. Disney Cruise Line offers 10% off the price of your next cruise if booked onboard, which can add up to a significant discount.

Concierge Stateroom Disney Magic

I like to scope out the upcoming cruise itineraries before sailing so I have an idea of what I would like to book once onboard. If you decide not to take the cruise you booked onboard, you can cancel it and get a refund on your deposit as long as you are inside the cancellation window. So, it’s really a win-win situation!

There are a few restrictions on this deal, including that you must sail within 24 months of the onboard booking. If you aren’t sure which cruise to book on board, you can purchase a “placeholder” for $250. This holds the onboard booking deal until you choose the cruise to apply it to.

Also, you may receive a discount on TWO staterooms as long as you put down a deposit on each. (These two staterooms must be booked on the same future cruise.) So, you can entice your family or friends to join you the next time around, and everyone can save money!

Final Review of 3 Day Disney Cruise

We hope you can tell just how much we love sailing with Disney Cruise Line. The cost and time commitments associated with longer cruises aren’t always feasible for every family. So, if you have been holding back booking a Disney 3 day cruise because you weren’t sure if it was worth it, we totally think it is!

Although we prefer a 5 night cruise or longer, my family and I would never hesitate to take a 3-night cruise with DCL. No matter which of the Disney ships you choose to book (Disney Wish, Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Magic, or Disney Fantasy), you will truly have the time of your lives!

After your trip, come back and give us your feedback! Do you think a 3 day Disney cruise is worth it or not? Comment below to share with us!

I’m so glad you enjoyed the article. A Disney cruise out of Australia sounds like an amazing experience! Personally, I think a 2 night cruise would be worth it for the same reasons mentioned above. Even though it’s not a long trip, you still get to enjoy the pools, shows, dining, and activities. Once onboard, you can book a second cruise for a discount and try a longer one then!

Disney Cruise Cost Pricing Explained

Disney Cruise Cost

Let's start by covering the details of how Disney Cruise costs are calculated between room pricing and cost per person.

Disney Cruise Room Pricing

All Disney Cruise costs are priced based on two adults in the stateroom (room on the ship). This means that one adult traveling with a child (ages 3-12) is the same price as two adults (13 and up) in the room. Children ages 0-2 pay 50% of the child rate.

After the two adult prices, the third and fourth passengers in the stateroom are charged a lower rate. If you are traveling alone, Disney Cruise Line will charge you 100% of the second adult’s cruise fare (not including port fees and taxes) in addition to the full fare for the first adult.

Pricing Per Adult

It is simply impossible to determine exactly how much a person will pay without looking at several different factors. We are going to break these factors on Disney Cruise cost down for you.

Which Disney Cruise Should I Do?

The first couple of factors to consider when deciding to book a Disney Cruise and cost are where you want to go and what ship you want to sail on.

cost of 3 night disney cruise

Disney Cruise Ships

Disney currently has 6 signature cruise ships with more on the way.

The newest cruise ship available right now is the Disney Wish, but the Disney Treasure begins sailing in December of 2024, and it is almost time to start booking!

Each Disney ship is decked out from bow to stern in immersive Disney experiences. The experiences are going to differ depending on the ship, where it is sailing to, and if it is a themed expedition or not.

Ships Sailings

  • Disney Magic : Bahamas, Caribbean, Mexico, Panama Canal
  • Disney Wonder : Alaska, Mexico, Caribbean, South Pacific, New Zealand & Australia
  • Disney Dream : Caribbean, Bahamas, Europe, Bermuda, Transatlantic Cruises
  • Disney Fantasy : Caribbean and Bahamas
  • Disney Wish : Bahamas
  • Disney Treasure : Caribbean

Disney Cruise Cost Factors

There are a few factors that will impact the cost of a Disney Cruise like time of year, location of the cruise, plus the Disney Cruise ship chosen.

Time of the year

Disney prices their cruises based on peak seasons. The more in-demand the cruise sailings are, the higher the pricing.

The first peak season is the most expensive. Think about when children are out of school, June – August. There is an increase in demand for ships and sailings, so the pricing also goes up. Alaska, and the Caribbean, are usually priced high during this time. Europe and the Panama Canal are usually only offered during these peak seasons.

Holidays are another popular peak season. The Bahamas and the Caribbean are going to be more expensive during these times because families will want shorter cruises, which are offered to these two locations.

Off-season bookings will be cheaper, but keep in mind, that the weather may not be as cooperative depending upon the location you are sailing to.

When choosing locations for your cruise, a cruise to the more remote destination Alaska is going to cost more than sailing to the Bahamas from Florida.

Europe and the Panama Canal are usually only offered in the summer, which can drive up the price of the cruise.

When deciding on what you want out of your cruise, guests can choose from different night lengths.

Disney currently offers cruises in 1-3, 4, 5-6, 7 8-13, or 14+ lengths. The longer you cruise, the more expensive the cruise is going to be because more amenities are included and paid for in the cruise cost.

Specialty Cruises

Disney offers specialty cruises throughout the year. Each of these specialty cruises is going to include extra events, entertainment, dining specialties, and more that are factored into the higher costs.

Guests can book a Pixar Day at Sea, Marvel Day at Sea, Halloween High Seas, and Holiday-themed cruises.

Disney Cruise cost entertainment

Stateroom type

There are four different types of staterooms guests can book on the cruise ships. A stateroom is the cruise equivalent of your hotel room.

The most luxurious accommodations on the cruise and the most expensive. Each room has a large private verandah (balcony) and premium amenities and services included. Prices for this type of hotel room will be the most expensive out of all rooms on the ship costing upwards of $6,000 for a trip.

The most spacious non-concierge staterooms are in the Verandah category. Each room comes equipped with a private verandah (balcony), some with partial views of the ship and ocean. The space and balcony are worth the price increase if you are sailing on a longer cruise. This category is the second most expensive type of room to choose from and also tends to sell out the quickest. Pricing tends to start around the $3500 total mark for most cruise lengths and destinations.

The oceanview room has more space than an inside room and also includes a porthole or two to be able to see the ocean. This is a great middle price on the cruise where you can still see the ocean passing by, but you don’t have the balcony to walk out on. This type of room falls in the middle pricing category. The cheapest cruises will come in around $2800 total but can go much higher depending on the length and destination.

Disney Cruise inside rooms

The base accommodations feature no outside viewing as the rooms are on the inside of the ship. However, Disney provides a scenic porthole display of different images to make it not feel as claustrophobic. These will be the absolute cheapest rooms due to not having an actual window or balcony. If you want to go on a Disney cruise, but your family is on a strict budget, these rooms will be the cheapest, averaging around the $2,000 – $4,000 range.

Transportation To Port

By far the biggest factor that will vary for each family going on a Disney cruise is the transportation to the Departing Port.

You will need to provide your own flight, take a train, or drive to the port that you are leaving from. This cost is going to vary widely depending on where you live versus where you need to leave from.

We also recommend arriving the day before the cruise is set to depart so there are no delays in boarding the ship at your arrival time. This is going to cost a night at a nearby hotel, which adds to the overall budget for your cruise.

Disney has ports in the following locations:

  • Fort Lauderdale, Florida
  • Port Canaveral, Florida
  • Vancouver, Canada
  • Auckland, New Zealand
  • Barcelona, Spain
  • Honolulu, Hawai’i
  • San Juan, Puerto Rico
  • Melbourne Australia
  • Southampton, England
  • Brisbane, Australia
  • New Orleans, Louisiana
  • Sydney, Australia
  • Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy
  • New York, New York
  • San Diego, California
  • Galveston, Texas

Certain cruises only depart from specific locations. You can filter this when you are searching to book your cruise.

When planning your destinations for your cruise, it is helpful to know where you are going to sail from. The majority of the Bahamas and Caribbean cruises are going to leave from the two ports in Florida, but they also depart from Texas. The Alaskan cruises sail from Vancouver, Canada.

The cheapest way to book transportation is to filter the cruises by which port is closest to you and see which destinations are available. Or, you can filter by destination and then see which ports are the closest to you to help keep costs down.

Keep in mind that if you drive to the port, this will be an additional cost to park your car at the port as well. The fee will be nightly similar to an airport.

What is Included in the Disney Cruise Cost Base Price?

A big question is what do I get for the price tag I see on the Disney Cruise Line website?

When booking your Disney Cruise, you are not just paying for a hotel room like many other vacations. You are paying for an all-inclusive Disney Experience . For every Disney Cruise booked, you can expect the following accommodations, activities, and amenities.

Room type chosen

Guests can choose from 4 different stateroom types:

  • Concierge – Most expensive and most luxurious
  • Verandah – Popular and mid-level pricing
  • Ocean View – Mid-level pricing
  • Inside – Cheapest book and smallest rooms

What is Not Included in a Disney Cruise?

While Disney Cruises is great at including a lot of amenities in the total trip cost, there are a few extras that you may want while sailing on your ship.

  • Port Excursions
  • Premium desserts
  • Premium coffee (at the Cove cafe)
  • Meals at the adult-only Palo and Remy
  • Gratuities – can be prepaid
  • Wireless Internet Access
  • Baby Nursery (6 months -3 years)

All of these items should be considered when pricing out your Disney Cruise so that you do not have any unexpected costs.

cost of 3 night disney cruise

Menus for restaurants are available on the Disney Cruise Line Website, so you can see if you want to eat somewhere not included in the base price.

Port Excursions are also booked ahead of time, so you can prepay these items and include them in the final cost of your cruise.

Gratuities Explained

On a cruise ship, it is customary to give gratuities in recognition of exceptional service. Disney recommends a gratuity amount of $14.50 USD per night, per stateroom Guest, including infants and children or $15.50 USD per night, per stateroom Guest for concierge and suites.

Pre-Paid Gratuities are distributed to the Crew Members who take care of you in the following roles:

  • Dining room server
  • Dining room assistant server
  • Dining room head server
  • Stateroom host

Easily pre-pay gratuities online to create a carefree, all-inclusive experience by visiting My Reservations in your Disney account and following the prompts for Pre-Paid Gratuities. If you do not pre-pay before boarding the ship, Disney automatically charges your onboard account the suggested gratuity amount. Once on the ship, you can adjust the amount of your Pre-Paid Gratuities by visiting Guest Services prior to the end of your cruise.

Pre-Paid Gratuities do not include the following gratuities, which are either included in the charge or based on your discretion:

  • Extras added to rotational dining meals such as alcoholic beverages
  • Adult dining locations such as Remy, Palo, Palo Steakhouse and Enchanté by Chef Arnaud Lallement, which are not part of rotational dining
  • Food or drink in shops and outdoor or poolside eateries
  • Room service
  • Port Adventures
  • Senses Spa & Salon
  • Concierge Lounge Team—Guests staying in Concierge accommodations are recommended a gratuity amount of $8.00 per night, per stateroom Guest
  • Any other additional services
  • An 18% gratuity is automatically added to bar, beverage, wine, deck service tabs and spa services. All gratuities can be charged to your onboard account.

Disney Cruise Islands Cost

Disney’s Private Islands

When sailing on a Disney Cruise, one of the locations you will visit on your travels during a Bahamian cruise is one of Disney’s Private Island’s Castaway Cay and coming soon Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.

Castaway Cay is the perfect beach getaway. Amenities on the island include

  • A family beach
  • Serenity Bay (18+ beach)
  • Teen Hideout
  • Game Pavilion
  • Sports Beach
  • Snorkeling Lagoons teeming with sea life
  • Water play areas
  • Walking trails
  • Open-air BBQ dining locations serving complimentary meals
  • Free transportation around the island
  • Character appearances
  • Boat rentals

Disney’s new island, Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point will have similar amenities to Castaway Cay! We can’t wait to see what the island holds.

Breakdown of Pricing

This section of our article is going to take a look at the specific pricing of specific cruises to help estimate Disney Cruise cost. The three most popular Disney Destinations are the Bahamas, the Caribbean, and Alaska, so that is what pricing we are going to focus on.

Disney Cruise On a Budget

If you really want to go on a Disney Cruise and stick to a budget, the 3-night and 4-night cruises are going to be the best option. Depending on how far from your destination you are traveling, the amount of time on the ship versus in a port will vary. The Bahamas destinations are going to offer more time in ports where Caribbean cruises will be more time on the boat.

The cheapest room option on a cruise is always the interior room. However, these rooms don’t have actual windows and can make a very tight space for a family of four, which we are basing all of our pricing on. If possible, spring for at least an Oceanview room where you are guaranteed at least one actual window.

Another way to stay on budget is to adjust the dates. In the tables below, you will see different dates and different ships will provide cheaper options. Cruises during February, August, and September tend to be cheaper, similarly to a Walt Disney World Vacation, whereas cruises during holiday seasons (Spring Break, Christmas, New Years, Halloween, etc.) are going to be more expensive.

5- Night Western Caribbean Cruise from New Orleans

Disney Crusie Cost

Mid-Range Disney Cruise Pricing

A 5 – 6 day cruise is a great mid-price range budget. Typically with these cruises you will have enough time to explore the ship while also getting at least two, if not three days in a port of call to explore your destination.

For the longer 5-6 day cruises, we recommend the oceanview or verandah rooms. To keep the budget down and get to experience more for your money, avoid booking the concierge rooms at these middle price points.

Another great way to spend your money is to book one of the themed cruises. Guests can book the Marvel Day at Sea, a Halloween Cruise, or a Merry Christmas Cruise. The prices are going to be higher for these themed cruises even if they are only 5-6 days long, but you get a lot more special activities.

Disney Cruise Cost Aquamouse

5- Night Western Caribbean Cruise from Fort Lauderdale

Disney Cruise Alaska

No Restrictive Budget Pricing

The longer cruise you book, the more ports you can stop at and the greater chance you have to stretch your days at sea to fully explore all that the ship has to offer.

The longer the cruise, guests can also experience more themed Disney nights and formal nights as well. This can make the cruise an extra special vacation due to all of the extra magic you are receiving.

Our recommendation for rooms on a cruise any longer than 5 days is to book at least a verandah room if not the concierge rooms. This is going to provide the most space for the times when you need to escape from the hustle and bustle of the ship.

In addition to the longer cruise, specialty cruises can also be booked during peak times if you don’t have an incredibly restrictive budget.

Disney Cruise Line Discounts

Disney cruises can be expensive, but there are ways to save money.

The best way to save money is to book as soon as you know when you want to sail.

Cruises price rooms by tiers – the earlier you book, the lower the cost.

Special Pricing

Sometimes Disney will offer special pricing for Florida residents, military personnel, travel agents, and cast members.

They may also offer Kids Sail Free to families with children.

Travel Agencies can also offer promotions if you book through them in the form of Shipboard Credit. While on the ship, you can use this credit for spa treatments, merchandise, photos, and more. Be aware these credits expire at the end of your cruise.

Final Thoughts

A Disney Cruise is an exceptionally personal vacation that allows your family to customize the trip that fits what you want and need. With each ship featuring new shows, themed restaurants, amazing kid areas, and specialty adult-only sections, there is a multitude of opportunities that a Disney Cruise ship offers for a vacation – not to mention the amazing destinations.

Unfortunately, because Disney provides so many different ships and opportunities, it is difficult to narrow down the exact price that a cruise will cost your family. One thing for sure is that you can't put a price on the magical memories that will be made on your Disney Cruise vacation.

Where does Disney sail?

Disney's fleet of cruise ships, disney cruise costs, how to save money on a disney cruise, disney cruise costs, recapped.

If you’ve caught yourself researching Disney cruises lately, we don’t blame you — with waterslides galore and a reputation for luxury, Disney cruises can be a lot of fun. But they can also be pricey, and those costs can add up if you’re sailing with multiple people.

If you’ve been asking, “How much is a Disney cruise?,” we have the answer for you. Let’s look at the options for cruises, how much they cost and ways you can make them more affordable.

No matter where you’re looking to go, Disney likely has a cruise for you. Sure, you won’t find ships heading to Antarctica, but there are still plenty of destinations from which to choose, including:

New Zealand.

Pacific Coast.

Panama Canal.

South Pacific.

Trans-Atlantic.

Many of these destinations are oriented toward North American travelers, but you’ll find options scattered all over the world.

» Learn more: Is cruise travel insurance worth the cost?

Despite its wide variety of destinations, Disney operates only six ships. Its newest ship, the Disney Treasure, is set to launch in December 2024.

Along with the Disney Treasure, you can opt to sail with:

Disney Dream.

Disney Fantasy.

Disney Magic.

Disney Wonder.

Disney Wish.

So, how much should you save to cover Disney cruise costs? The short answer: It depends.

No, that’s probably not what you want to hear, but it’s the truth. The price of a Disney cruise is going to be influenced by a variety of factors, including:

Where you’re going.

The trip’s duration.

Which Disney ship you’re on.

How many people you’re traveling with.

The type of stateroom you book.

Any add-ons or specialty bookings you choose.

If you’re looking for an all-out experience, it’s pretty easy to rack up a big bill. Disney cruises are well known as an expensive option, but tacking on high-end touches such as a concierge room and spa visits will really drive up the price.

cost of 3 night disney cruise

The cheapest cruises you’ll find tend to sail from San Diego, and they’re the shortest trips as well. We searched for sailings across the calendar and found the cheapest rates rang in at $1,326 for two guests in an inside room on a three-night trip from San Diego.

cost of 3 night disney cruise

In contrast, the most expensive cruise we found was a 10-night option that travels through Iceland, Norway, France and Denmark. The price tag came in at $6,489 for two guests in an inside cabin and rose to $28,089 for a concierge-level room.

There’s no denying that Disney cruises can be expensive. However, there are ways you can save money on your booking.

Find discounted sailings

cost of 3 night disney cruise

This first option seems obvious, but you’ll want to specifically search for discounted sailings. Although Disney doesn’t always offer sales, if they are available, you'll find them on the Disney cruise line page — just click “Show special offer filters” when searching.

cost of 3 night disney cruise

The special offers filter will let you know what types of discounts are available, like the example above promoting up to 35% off on select sailings.

Skip the add-ons

The base fare for these trips includes almost everything, so if you’re looking to drop the cost of a Disney cruise, consider avoiding add-ons. This means skipping out on things like wine tastings and specialty drinks as well as forgoing dinner at Palo, the adults-only Italian restaurant that comes with additional costs.

Instead, enjoy the plethora of complimentary activities, such as pools, movies, shows, karaoke, dancing and more. And when it comes to food and beverage, simply sip the included soda and coffee, eat the (already amazing) free food and don’t forget to order a Mickey ice cream bar with your complimentary room service.

Disney is notable in that it also allows you to bring your own alcohol on board. Each guest older than 21 can bring up to two bottles of wine or six cans of beer when they first board and at every port of call. Considering that alcohol on the ship can be pretty expensive, this is a good way to save money.

Use a promotion

cost of 3 night disney cruise

Do you live in Florida or Southern California? Or perhaps you’re a member of the U.S. military ? If any of these apply to you, you may have special access to discounted Disney cruise prices.

cost of 3 night disney cruise

You’ll be able to find these deals via that special offers filter shown above. For example, that three-night San Diego sailing mentioned above dropped from $1,326 to $1,164 once we selected the U.S. military filter.

Redeem points

Last, but certainly not least, is the option to redeem your points for a Disney cruise. While there’s no good way to transfer points directly, there are still ways you can use points toward your booking.

The most convenient way is by using a credit card that’ll wipe away your travel costs. Plenty of cards have this feature, but two fairly decent ones are the Bank of America® Premium Rewards® credit card and the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card . Both cards will allow you to redeem your points toward purchases at a rate of 1 cent per point.

Even better, these redemptions can be stacked with other discounts, allowing you to drop your costs even more. For example, a member of the U.S. military can redeem 116,400 Capital One Miles to pay for their entire cruise, an excellent double dip that saves money and miles.

» Learn more: 7 tips for getting the best deal on your next cruise

The cost of a Disney cruise can vary dramatically based on your needs and sailing preferences. However, you should expect to spend at least $1,000 on a cruise for two passengers. The price goes up from there depending on your cabin selection, trip duration and destination choices, among other options.

If you’re looking to save money on a Disney cruise, consider waiting for a sale, checking relevant discounts or redeeming points to help keep your out-of-pocket costs low. And if you like to enjoy an alcoholic beverage every once in a while, we recommend bringing your preferred drink with you on board.

I saved every receipt — here’s how much it actually costs to go on a Disney Dream cruise

Megan duBois

One of the best things about cruising is that you can pay for a cruise months in advance, forget how much it costs, and then board the ship on embarkation day blissfully ignorant of how much you paid to get there and ready for vacation spending.

While I'm not one to keep a tally of every dollar I spend on trips, it's sometimes nice to know exactly how much I've spent, down to booking a hotel the night before a cruise, drinks on board the ship and purchases in port. So on one of my recent Disney Cruise Line sailings on the Disney Dream cruise ship, I saved every receipt to figure out how much my family and I actually paid for the vacation.

Having that information is important, not just for me when I'm ready to plan my next cruise with Mickey and the gang, but so you can budget appropriately for your next Disney Dream cruise. Let's face it — Disney Cruise Line vacations are expensive, but the memories made on the ships are priceless.

Is it possible for families on a budget to afford a Disney cruise? The short answer is yes, but there is some strategy involved. Here's how much our Disney Dream cruise really cost for a family of three.

For cruise news, reviews and tips, sign up for TPG's cruise newsletter .

Disney Dream cruise costs

Before I dive into just how much my trip cost, let me give you some background.

The pricing for this cruise is based on my family of three adults. A cruise with kids will likely have a different balance of expenses.

Our transportation to the embarkation port of Miami is not included since the expense can vary greatly depending on how you choose to get to the port. We drove since we live in Florida, but not everyone is lucky enough to live within driving distance of their departure port. I did include all the other costs from our trip, including a pre-cruise hotel stay, the actual cruise fare and dining at specialty restaurants on board.

My family and I were not super strict with our budget, but we also didn't splurge on everything. We did treat ourselves to a few meals at the adults-only restaurants on Disney Dream and a few cocktails each day, but we never went overboard with extras in the ports of call. Checking our onboard account each morning through the Disney Cruise Line app made it possible for us to have a fun vacation without emptying our bank accounts.

Cruise booking

cost of 3 night disney cruise

Our biggest cost on this trip was the cruise fare because sailings on Disney Dream are not cheap. Even if you avoid the specialty restaurants, skip excursions in each port and stay in one of the cheaper cabins, you'll still spend a few thousand dollars just to get on board.

For three adults sharing a cabin, Disney Dream vacations currently start at $2,317, including taxes and fees, and that's for a three-night sailing to the Bahamas in 2024. If you're planning a longer cruise or a European cruise, it will cost significantly more, especially during peak times when kids are out of school or during a themed sailing.

Because of how expensive Disney cruise sailings are, I always look for deals, either a Florida resident offer or a discount on a select sail date.

Our Disney Dream cruise was a five-night Halloween on the High Seas sailing, with a Florida resident discount for three people booked in a balcony cabin (which Disney calls a verandah stateroom). The total cost of the cruise, including taxes and fees, was $2,497.28.

Total for cruise booking: $2,497.28

Pre-cruise hotel accommodations

I always suggest that people arrive in their embarkation city or a city nearby at least the day before a cruise. This relieves the stress of having to get to the ship on time in case of flight delays or blocked roadways.

The night before my Disney Dream cruise, my family and I stayed at Disney's Vero Beach Resort, which is a little over halfway from our home in Jacksonville, Florida, to Miami.

We used Disney Vacation Club points to book an "Inn-Standard View" room, which was big enough for the three of us. The room cost us 16 points, so we technically didn't spend any money on booking a hotel the night before. Unless you have points to spend, don't forget to budget for lodging before or after your cruise, as needed.

Total for hotel: $0

Pre-cruise meals

The night before our cruise, we decided to eat out in Vero Beach at American Icon Brewery. Everyone in my family got a local beer to try, then we shared an appetizer, and everyone got their own entree. The meal set us back $106.55.

While Disney's Vero Beach does have an on-site restaurant, we enjoy getting out in the city and trying a local place. American Icon Brewery was fun, and the food and service were both great.

Related: 14 things you should do before every cruise

For breakfast the morning of our cruise, I brought muffins that I made at home for my family to enjoy. The room included a coffee maker and Keurig coffee pods, so we drank that with our light breakfast. Disney's Vero Beach Resort does serve breakfast at its onsite restaurant, but we needed to hit the road early to get to our 11 a.m. port arrival time, so the muffins and coffee were a perfect easy breakfast.

Total for dinner: $106.55

Parking at the port

Parking at any cruise port can add a large amount to a cruise vacation. For five nights, parking at PortMiami was $110. We paid for this as we were leaving the parking deck rather than upfront.

Total for parking: $110

Specialty dining on board

cost of 3 night disney cruise

Disney Dream has two adults-only specialty dining restaurants onboard, Palo and Remy. To dine at either restaurant, cruisers should get a reservation in advance through the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app. If you can't secure a reservation before the sailing, ask about walk-up availability for either restaurant once on board. Just be sure to head straight to the hostess desk outside of Palo and Remy as soon as you board the ship (even before eating lunch) because any open reservations will be snapped up quickly.

My family always eats at Palo for brunch on a Disney cruise, and this time was no different. The meal is a high-end table service option that starts with your choice of a charcuterie board or chilled seafood platter, plus a delightful spread of bread. The menu is also filled with entrees like house-made pizzas, plate-size Mickey waffles, made-to-order pasta and elevated egg dishes like frittatas.

The meal for the three of us cost $170. My dad also ordered Palo's signature bloody Mary, which tacked on another $12.39 to our meal.

Related: The ultimate guide to Disney Cruise Line ships and itineraries

On this cruise, for the first time ever, my family and I dined at Remy, a French-inspired restaurant that was worth every penny. To start, we were served a welcome cocktail called The Collette, which is named after the female chef in the Pixar movie, "Ratatouille."

Then we were presented menus that were divided into two prix-fixe options, one that leaned more French and one that leaned more high-end American. I chose the French menu, while my parents chose the American menu. The meal overall was fantastic and was worth the $462.50 for the three of us.

Total for specialty dining: $644.89

Specialty drinks and alcohol

cost of 3 night disney cruise

One thing that sets Disney Cruise Line apart from other family-friendly cruises is that it doesn't offer all-inclusive drink packages . Passengers must purchase all beverages on board at the per-drink price, though drink prices on Disney ships can sometimes be slightly cheaper than similar libations on other big-ship lines. Plus, soda is included in your cruise fare.

Disney Cruise Line also allows passengers to bring your own wine or beer on board at every port , while other cruise lines restrict guests to one bottle of wine at embarkation only. Not only does this policy allow you to potentially save money on beverage costs, but you can enjoy interesting brews and vintages from the places you visit.

Every night, my family went to happy hour at the adults-only bar Meridian, which is located between Palo and Remy. This spacious bar has large windows that overlook the sea and two outdoor patios with seating. Cocktails for five nights at Meridian cost my family of three $179.67.

Other places to have a specialty cocktail or coffee on Disney Dream include the Cove Cafe, Skyline, Pink and 687. At these other bars, my family spent $122.16.

While we enjoyed all of the bars and lounges on the ship, Meridian was easily our favorite and not just because of the view. The Cast Members who work in this bar are top-notch and learned our cocktail preferences quickly. By night two, they were shaking up off-menu cocktails that they knew we would enjoy.

Total for drinks: $301.83

Disney Cruise Line allows guests to prepay their onboard gratuities for their stateroom host and their service team in the dining room. This charge came to $72.50 per guest.

On top of the standard gratuities, we chose to give an extra $20 to our dining room server, assistant server and head server, plus our stateroom host , all of whom get a portion of the prepaid gratuities. At the end of our cruise, we also gave the two bartenders in Meridian an additional $20 in cash for all of their hard work throughout the week and for making our vacation special.

Total for gratuities: $337.50

cost of 3 night disney cruise

While I'm not normally one to get a souvenir from a cruise ship, I couldn't resist making a few purchases on Disney Dream.

My favorite Disney character, Sorcerer Mickey, is the stern character on the ship, so a lot of the Dream-branded merchandise has this variation of Mickey on it. And since this was a Halloween cruise, I found some spooky souvenirs in the stores, too. I dropped $118.97 on merchandise.

Total for souvenirs: $118.97

Related: 11 things you should never buy on a cruise ship

On most cruises, my family and I opt to explore the port on our own versus buying excursions . It saves us money, and we can head back to the ship whenever we want. On this cruise, our ports of call were Grand Cayman and Disney's private island , Castaway Cay.

Because we've visited Grand Cayman previously and it's not our favorite cruise port, we stayed on the ship that day to enjoy the less crowded pool decks and a nice lunch inside one of the main dining rooms.

On our Castaway Cay port day, we did get off the ship but didn't opt for any of the island's excursions, instead heading to the adults-only beach, Serenity Bay. We also enjoyed lunch at the adults-only beach, which is included in the overall cruise cost.

If we were going on a cruise to destinations we had never been to before, like a Disney cruise to the Mediterranean or Alaska , we would likely opt to do Disney-sponsored excursions, which are often a few hundred dollars per person per excursion. And if your family has never been to Grand Cayman, you might want to book a tour to explore the island or one of its attractions.

Excursions: $0

Spa services

One of my favorite areas on any Disney cruise is the Senses Spa and its Rainforest Room. This area of the spa features multiple shower experiences, saunas, a row of heated lounge chairs and two private hot tubs. The best part is that the lounge chairs and the hot tubs are in a glass-enclosed space, so you can see the ocean or ports while using the facilities.

On this five-night sailing, my mom and I booked a "couples rate" to be able to come and go from the Rainforest Room as we wanted throughout the cruise. The total cost for that was $187.62. My mom also opted to get a massage on the cruise, which cost $209.42.

Total for spa services: $397.04

What it really costs to go on a Disney Dream cruise

cost of 3 night disney cruise

For three adults sharing one cabin on a five-night Halloween-themed sailing on Disney Dream, the total cost came to $4,514.06. That equals out to each person paying $1,504.69 for the trip, or $300.94 per person, per day.

To put that in perspective, our five-night Disney cruise was a similar cost on a per-person, per-day basis to TPG's Summer Hull's three-day trip to Walt Disney World .

Based on our trip, here's the major breakdown of Disney Cruise Line trip expenses:

  • 55.3% cruise fare
  • 2.4% pre-cruise hotel and meal
  • 2.4 % parking
  • 14.3% onboard dining
  • 6.7% drinks
  • 7.5% gratuities
  • 2.6% souvenirs
  • 0% excursions
  • 8.8% spa services

A Disney cruise can be an affordable way to take a Disney vacation, especially if you're willing to forgo upcharges such as concierge rooms and pricey excursions in ports of call. On my family's Disney Dream cruise, we kept our daily expenses to just over $900, though it's very easy to rack up a folio bill for thousands of dollars a day more. If you want to stay within a certain budget, be sure to try as many money-saving hacks as possible to keep the cost in check.

A Disney vacation will never be cheap, but with some planning and flexibility, it is possible to take a Disney cruise without draining your bank account.

Disney Cruise Cost Per Person

Disney Cruise costs per person can vary depending on the time of year, the length of the cruise, and the specific ship and itinerary. A Disney Cruise is typically a bit more expensive than a comparable cruise on another line, thanks in part to the premium experience offered. On average, the price per night per person is between $300 and $700 (based on double occupancy) depending on the time of the year and the location. The package includes the price of the room, food, and entertainment. There are, of course, outliers — especially for longer cruises in peak season at popular destinations.

The cheapest way to book a Disney Cruise is often by booking early and taking advantage of special promotions. You can also save money by sharing a room with another person or family. In this article, we will give an overview of the factors that affect the price of a Disney Cruise and the benefits of booking a Disney Cruise .

Would you rather talk with a cruise planner? It’s free!

Factors That Affect the Price of a Disney Cruise

There are several factors that affect the price of a Disney Cruise . Here are just some of the things that affect the cost of your cruise.

The first factor is the time of year you will sail – prices are typically higher during peak vacation times, such as summer and winter break.

The second factor is the length of the cruise . A longer cruise, of course, costs more than a shorter cruise. In some cases, longer cruises may be cheaper per day than shorter ones, but longer cruises do include more ports of call, which can increase the cost of the trip due to port fees.

The third factor is the destination . Disney Cruises go to destinations such as the Caribbean, Alaska , and Europe , and each destination comes with a different price.

Fourth, the type of room you book matters. Rooms with balconies or special features like concierge service usually cost more than standard rooms. The average costs vary, but here’s an example range for a 3-night Bahamian Cruise from Port Canaveral in July 2025, with two people in one stateroom:

  • an Inside room costs at least $3,044 ($507.34 per person per night)
  • an Oceanview room costs at least $3,188 ($531.34 per person per night)
  • a Verandah room costs at least $3,380 ($563.34 per person per night)
  • a concierge room costs at least $5,414 ($902.34 per person per night)

Fifth, you’ll be charged based on who is in the room . The first two people in the room always pay the adult rate, regardless of age (and solo travelers must pay a supplement to cover the “missing” second person). Additional passengers in the same room pay different amounts based on their age group . For example, here are the charges for each passenger in a Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom on a 3-Night Bahamas Cruise in April 2025:

  • First two adults: $1,215 each ($405 per person per night)
  • 15-year-old: $651 ($217 per night)
  • 7-year-old: $624 ($208 per night)
  • 2-year-old: $349 ($116.34 per night)

Another factor in the price is when you book . Like airline tickets, stateroom prices can change over time based on demand. Even if the price of a room remains steady, cheaper room categories may be booked earlier (leaving only more expensive options to be booked). Book early for the best shot at a low price per night.

Benefits of Booking a Disney Cruise

In addition to the high quality of service and attention to detail that Disney is known for, there are several other benefits to booking a cruise with Disney Cruise Line. First, most dining on your cruise is included, which can save you hundreds of dollars on your overall vacation cost.

Second, all-inclusive Disney Cruises offer unique experiences that you won’t find on other cruise lines, such as character meet-and-greets, private island access, and exclusive shows and events.

Third, all of Disney’s cruise ships are playfully themed throughout, with little Disney touches and innovations around every corner. Whether you choose the Disney Magic , Disney Wonder , Disney Dream , Disney Fantasy , or Disney Wish , you’ll feel right at home on one of these amazing vessels. And more ships are being built , too!

Finally, Disney Cruises are very family-friendly and offer a wide range of activities for all ages. From kids’ clubs to adult-only dining, there is something for everyone on a Disney Cruise.

Disney Cruises Cost Versus Royal Caribbean

There are many factors to keep in mind when choosing a cruise line, but one important factor is cost. So, how does Disney Cruise Line stack up against Royal Caribbean?

Let’s compare Disney and Royal Caribbean prices for the following:

  • 3-night Bahamas Cruise
  • Visiting Nassau and the cruise line’s private island
  • Sailing March 7, 2025
  • Interior stateroom

Disney cost per person, per night: $387.67

Royal Caribbean cost per person, per night: $285.67

Cruise prices typically include your onboard accommodations, meals, and entertainment.  While Disney Cruises tend to be a bit more expensive than other cruise lines, they offer a unique vacation experience that you can’t find anywhere else. For example, Disney has a private island that is only available to their guests, and they also offer special shows and events not available anywhere else.

If finding a more affordable option is the most important factor, Royal Caribbean International might be a good choice as long as you’re OK with missing out on all the extra magic that Disney brings. Royal Caribbean does offer all-inclusive pricing and a wide range of activities and amenities, such as an adults-only pool area, a casino, and a variety of restaurants.

When comparing Disney Cruises versus Royal Caribbean cruises, Di sney is more expensive than Royal Caribbean, but we feel that Disney is worth the additional cost.  That said, both cruises offer a unique and memorable experience.

Factors Why Disney Cruise Will Cost But Worth Each Peny

“How much should I save to cover the costs of a Disney cruise?” This is a common question, but unfortunately, the answer is not straightforward. The price of a Disney cruise varies depending on several factors, such as itinerary, cabin type, and time of year.

  • Where you’re going, the length of your trip, and the time of year will all impact the cost, with shorter cruises typically starting at around $1,000 per person and longer trips to multiple ports potentially reaching above $6,500 per person.
  • The trip’s duration and port of call will also affect the total cost. Shorter trips, such as a three-night cruise to Nassau or Castaway Cay, tend to be more affordable than longer journeys with several destinations.
  • Which Disney ship you’re on will also affect the price. The newer, more luxurious ships have a higher price tag than the older vessels in Disney’s fleet.
  • How many people you’re traveling with can also influence the overall cost. Some cruise discounts may be available for large groups, such as military personnel or families traveling together. Additionally, excursions, meals, drinks, and luxury staterooms all add up to your final price tag. It’s important to research all of the available options and find the best deal before booking your Disney Cruise.
  • The type of stateroom you book is also a factor that can affect the total cost of your trip. Luxury staterooms such as suites and concierge rooms offer more amenities for an additional fee. Booking in advance can often save money on a Disney Cruise vacation, so it’s worth planning to get the best deal possible. Your cruise package may include certain perks depending on the type and duration of your trip.
  • Any add-ons or specialty bookings you choose can also add to the cost. Such options may include activities such as a spa treatment, special excursions, and a character meet-and-greet. Lastly, don’t forget about taxes and fees for your cruise package, along with tips for the crew onboard. By taking all of these factors into consideration, you can get the most out of your Disney cruise prices.

Tips for Finding the Best Deal on a Disney Cruise Vacation

Booking in Advance, Researching All Available Options, Comparing Prices Across Destinations, Taking Advantage of Group Discounts and Special Offers, Booking a Standard Stateroom, Planning Ahead for Add-Ons or Specialty Bookings, and Keeping an Eye Out for Taxes and fees.

When you have taken all of these factors into consideration, you can find the best deal possible on your Disney cruise vacation!

How Much Does a Disney Cruise Cost? + Money Saving Tips

After sailing on 15 Disney Cruises , I think the most common question we statement we hear is, “I’ve always wanted to go on one, but how much does a Disney Cruise cost? Disney Cruise Lines has some of the most premier ships at sea and with that does come with a premium price.

We are here to break down how much a Disney cruise costs, what’s included, a look at Disney Cruise Prices in 2023, and if the higher price is really worth it.

What’s Included in the Price of Your Disney Cruise

How much does a disney cruise cost

When you are looking at how much a Disney Cruise costs, I think one of the main factors you have to take in is how much stuff is included in a  Disney Cruise.

Passengers on Disney Cruises can expect the full Disney experience throughout their trip. Let’s take a look at everything that is included in your Disney Cruise sailing.

Broadway Musicals & First Run Movies

“Tangled: The Musical” is the newest original Disney Cruise Line stage spectacular. Presented exclusively aboard the Disney Magic, it combines a heartfelt story, an enchanting score and lavish production numbers to showcase the thrilling adventure of Rapunzel and Flynn Rider as they face ruffians, thugs and a budding romance on an exhilarating journey of self-discovery. (Ryan Wendler, photographer)

All ships have theaters with live Broadway musicals (and these are seriously amazing musicals) along with unlimited access to movie theaters that offer Disney’s & Marvel’s newest movies.

You’ll often find yourself on board seeing the latest Marvel thriller (we saw Black Panther onboard right when it was released) or a brand new Pixar film.

Incredible Meals with a splash of Disney Magic

Meals are included with your cruise fare. Each ship has rotational dining where you will visit one of three restaurants each night. Your waiter travels with you as you dine at each new location, and the waiters on the ship are truly a blast. Many have done magic tricks for our kids and all are the most caring people you will meet.

In addition, there is a buffet, and plenty of places to get food around the clock. There are several quick-service spots where my husband loves to grab a pizza, as well as 24-hour room service, where you can even get Mickey Ice Cream bars delivered to the room.

Disney Cruise Cost - Pirate Night Buffet

Unlike most cruises on Disney cruises, Guests can also enjoy endless soda for no additional fee. Tea and coffee are also included while aboard in addition to all-you-can-eat soft serve ice cream with all the toppings. The only food which is extra charge is at the fine dining of Palo & Remy and Vanelope’s sweet shop.

The Best Kid’s Club of any cruise line

Youth Club Disney Cruise Deals

If you asked my kids what the one thing that they love about a Disney cruise is, it would be the Kid’s Club. In our rankings of top cruise ships, Disney Cruise Kid’s Club blows every other cruise out of the water (no pun intended).

My kids are not the type of kids who like to stray off and go to a kids club but Disney’s is out of this world. There is no comparison to any other cruise line out there. The themed rooms are amazing and the staff is incredible.

Character Experiences

There is no other ship at sea that offers the character experiences Disney Cruise offers. You may find yourself casually strolling by Captain Hook or Peter Pan. Characters have several photo opportunities scheduled throughout the day, where you can get your picture taken with your favorite character.

Disney Cruise Character Experiences

Plus, in the kids club characters will come and visit and play with the kids. So, if your family loves Disney characters, there are plenty on board to interact with.

Castaway Cay

Castaway Cay Cabana Family Cabana View

If you are sailing on a Disney Cruise to the Bahamas or the Caribbean, included in your fare, is a visit to Disney’s Private Island, Castaway Cay . This island is amazing with beautiful beaches, water slides, snorkeling and so much more.

The best part is all the food, just like on the cruise is included. It will definitely be one of your favorite stops on the cruise. For an extra cost you can get a Castaway Cay Cabana , these cost quite a bit but if you can afford it, they are simply amazing.

If you love running, Disney Castaway Cay has a 5K to start off the day. It’s a fun way to get started on one of the best days of the cruise.

How Much Will a Disney Cruise Cost in 2023 & 2024?

So, what we did is break down what a Disney Cruise costs on average for a family of 4 with several different itineraries. These prices are total including all taxes for a family of 4. All of these cruises are priced based on inside, oceanview, and verandah cabins.

We did not include the concierge level , because that’s on a whole different level. While the inside to verandah cabins are all fairly close in price. After we go over some costs, we will break down how to find the best deal.

Now, normally how much a Disney Cruise costs goes up each year, but in 2023 we expect prices to remain the same, except for the new Disney Wish! Plus, be on the lookout for more special offers to get people to return to cruising.

My BEST TIPS to Save you Time & Money when Booking a Disney Cruise

Tip #1 – I actually learned this tip from our travel agent, but the #1 thing to do when booking a Disney Cruise is to book early. 99% of the time prices go up as the ship fills up. So the earlier you book, the better deal you are going to get.

We went on a cruise this past summer and paid a little over $4,100 for a verandah cabin on a 7-night cruise, our friends went to book last minute and had to pay $3,000 more for an inside cabin. So, put down the deposit early and then your final payment isn’t due until 120 days before the cruise.

Tip # 2 – This one might surprise you but it is my best tip. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT, book directly through the Disney Cruise site, you are wasting time and Money!

I know, it seems like you would get a better deal, right? But the fact of the matter is you do all the work and you pay the exact same price (if not more) versus if you went through a travel agent.

Plus, a travel agent is trying to earn your business, so they will have all sorts of perks to have you use them. Here is what you will get:

  • You will get the same price, if not better (they know all the specials going on)
  • Some sort of bonus like Stateroom Credit = FREE MONEY – Stateroom Credit is money you can use for spending onboard like Spa Services, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, Specialty Dining & More – I have received $800 on one cabin in the past
  • Plus, they know where the best staterooms are, when you should check-in for your cruise, and what documents you need and they send you reminders.
  • They will save you hours and hours of planning

Our favorite travel agency is Best Day Ever Vacations , they specialize in Disney travel and they even have a place on their site where you can find all the unadvertised Disney Cruise Deals are have some amazing deals, but please do yourself a favor and use a travel agent for your next Disney Cruise

How much does a Disney Cruise Cost

3 Night Caribbean Cruise

A 3-Night Disney Cruise can surprisingly range widely in price. You can look at paying from $2,600 – $6,300 on a 3-night Caribbean cruise.

So, you are looking at $216-$525 per person per day.

4 Night Caribbean Cruise

A 4-Night Caribbean Cruise can range from $3,400 – $6,700. You will find that a 4-night cruise is often a better value because it sails during the weekdays, so if you have the ability to miss some weekdays, take a 4-night cruise.

A 4 night averages out to $212-$418 per person per day .

7-Night Caribbean & European Cruise

For a family of four, a 7 Night Cruise will range from $5,300 – $10,000. The 7 Night cruises in the Caribbean can be onboard the Magic, Fantasy & the Wonder.  Personally, I would choose the Magic or the Fantasy when in the Caribbean as they have better waterslides.

In Europe, the only option is the Disney Magic, which is the first ship we ever sailed on and one of my favorites.

A 7-night averages out to $189-$397 per person per day .

7 Night Alaska Cruise

Disney Alaska Cruise

The Alaska cruise prices vary much more dramatically by room class, as a Verandah is so sought after. If you are planning to sail to Alaska the prices can range from $6,500 – $17,000 for a 7-night cruise. That comes to $232 to $602 per person.

The inside cabins are much cheaper when it comes to Alaska as they are from about $6500-8000 and the Verandah cabins really vary the most from $8900 all the way up to $17,000 for the same cruise.

How Much Does the New Disney Wish Cost?

The newest Disney ship to set sail is the Disney Wish!

The new Disney Wish began sailing in July 2022. The ship sets sail from Port Canaveral and sails to the Bahamas and Castaway Cay . Currently pricing for the Disney Wish is slightly higher than the other Disney Cruise ships and we anticipate that to last for about a year.

That being said, we absolutely love this ship!

For a Family of 4, a 3-Night sailing will be around $3,000 – $5,000 per sailing which comes to about $250-$450 per person. The 4-Night cruise is typically a better deal as it sails during the week. For 4 nights the pricing for 4 people is $3,400 – $6,600, which comes to $212 – $412 per person.

Extra Disney Cruise Costs to Keep in Mind

Cocktails onboard DIsney Dream

Gratuities run about $40 on a 3-Night Cruise per person,  $54.00 per person for a 4-night cruise, and $94 for a 7-night cruise. 15% Gratuity is also added to any alcoholic purchases.

Shore Excursions & On Cruise Experiences

You definitely do not need to do a shore excursion at every port, but they are quite fun. I would estimate $100 per shore excursion you would like to do. Most times you are able to book shore excursions off the boat

Spa Services & Bibbidy Boppidi Boutique

If you are in the mood for a little R&R then head to the Senses Spa for a wide variety of services. In addition, you can also make your little one a princess with a visit to the Bippidi Boppidi Boutique. Our girls have always loved this boutique! They love picking out their favorite princess dress and getting the full royal treatment. While these services are extra, they are so worth it because it is truly magical seeing their excitement.

Alcohol and Premium Dining

Palo onboard Disney Dream

Alcohol is not included in your fare, so if you are planning on taking in some cocktails, budget appropriately for these expenses. On the Disney Cruises Ships, you can pay a little extra to dine at restaurants like Palo or Remy, which offer top-notch cuisine. Palo is available on 4 Disney Cruise ships, while Remy is only available on the Dream and Fantasy. The Disney Wish also has 2 adult-exclusive restaurants.

How do Disney Cruise Prices compare to other cruise lines

We all see the ads for a 3-night cruise for $299. While that can be great, comparing the $299 cruise to the Disney cruise cost is apples and oranges. If you want to make a fair comparison, take a look at the biggest competitors, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian & Carnival, and look at their newer fleet of ships (less than 7 years old).

There you can see the best that each has to offer. I compared the Disney Fantasy in July to Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas. The prices ended up being between $150-$200 more per person for the Disney Cruise.

How to Save Money on a Disney Cruise

Disney Cruise Cost

Book with a Travel Agent! My #1 Tip!

I know, I mentioned this earlier but I want to reiterate it. I even feel foolish for saying this because this was so against our initial instincts. In fact, we booked our first 8 cruises without a travel agent because we always thought we could get the best deal.

A travel agent can get you the same pricing you will find anywhere else, plus they offer onboard credit to spend on the ship and will help you plan the whole thing.

We use Disney Travel Agents for all our Disney trips because they know Disney Cruises, Disney World, and Disneyland better than I will ever know. I highly recommend their services. Not only do they help with the planning, you get the best deal available and onboard credit!

Disney Cruise Deals – Special Offers

You can find Disney Cruise deals on a page exclusively for Special Offers .

At the time of this article, there is a 7-day cruise for only $116 per person per day. They have special offers for different sailings, military rates, Florida resident rates, and Candian-Resident savings.

*Pro Tip* When you see that special offer, still contact your travel agent because they can get you that offer plus the onboard credit.

Disney Cruise Cost

Book in the Offseason

If you want to save some serious cash, book your cruise in the off-season, basically any time kids are normally in school. You will find the Disney Cruise cost to be lower in September, October, Early November, January, & February. So, if you can sail during those seasons, do it! You will save yourself a ton of money.

If you know the itinerary you want and it is during a peak season like the summer or holiday, book the room as early as you can. Disney Cruise prices rarely go down, especially on peak sailing so the earlier you book the better the price.

Book while on a Cruise

Lastly, if you are sailing on a Disney Cruise and love it, book another one while onboard. You save 10% off the rate, plus give them your travel agent’s info and you’ll still get the bonus 10% plus your travel agent will get you that onboard credit too.

Know what to Pack and Not to Pack!

One of the surprisingly best ways to save money not only on your Disney Cruise, is knowing what to pack. We have a full detailed Disney Cruise packing list , which will let you know everything you can and should bring on board plus things you can’t. (Hint, you can bring some alcohol).

The 5 Disney Cruise Ships

There are four ships in the Disney Cruise Line (5 when the Wish arrives in the Summer of 2022). Each ship has its own unique features and base of operations, but they all offer similar services and amenities.

The Disney Wish

Disney Wish Frozen Dinner & Show

The Disney Wish is the newest of the Disney cruise ships and began sailing in the summer of 2022. The wish has some incredible features like the Frozen and Marvel-themed restaurants, their first ever Disney ride at sea, “The Aqua Mouse” and so much more.

The Disney Wonder

The Disney Wonder sails to Alaska, the Caribbean and the Bahamas. The Wonder is the only ship in the fleet that sails on the West Coast, so you’ll see it docked in San Diego every now and again, which is the only port of call for Disney cruises on the West Coast. The Wonder is popular among superhero fans, as it is home to the Marvel Super Hero Academy and Frozen, A Musical Spectacular.

The Disney Magic

AquaDunk on the Disney Magic is a thrilling new three-story body slide that begins with a surprise launch when the floor beneath guests’ feet opens like a trap door. The drop sends them on an exhilarating, swift and splashy ride in a translucent tube that extends 20 feet over the side of the ship. (Jimmy DeFlippo, photographer)

The Disney Magic has one of the most unique itineraries sailing to the Bahamas and Caribbean, and it’s the only ship that cruises to Europe & the Greek Islands. There you’ll find several enchanting cruises in Northern Europe and around the Mediterranean with exciting port adventures available to guests. Magic is known for Rapunzel’s Royal Table restaurant, Tangled: The Musical and my kid’s favorite water slide the AquaDunk. (Check out our full review here)

The Disney Dream

The Disney Dream can be seen cruising around the Bahamas and Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay. The Dream typically sails 3 and 4 night trips. The Dream is known among Star Wars fans as it has a play area that resembles the Millenium Falcon inside the kid’s club (it’s pretty awesome), and guests can enjoy Broadway’s hit musical Beauty and the Beast nightly in the ship’s grand theater.

The Disney Fantasy

The Disney Fantasy has 7 night sailings to Castaway Cay and the Eastern and Western Caribbean. Have you ever seen a water roller coaster? You’ll find the AquaDuck water coaster aboard the Fantasy along with the Royal Court restaurant filled with all of the Disney princesses and princes you can imagine, as well as the Star Wars: Command Post for the little ones. Since each cruise has specific destinations, if you want to book a specific ship then you will be limited by that ship’s range of destinations.

Disney Cruise Line offers a fantastic experience for families and couples alike, bringing them to exciting destinations around the world with Disney magic at every turn. While cruises are a great way to escape everyday life, it’s important to prepare your wallet for the expense of this kind of trip.

Knowing the full range of costs associated with a Disney cruise vacation is essential to spending wisely while still getting the most out of your vacation. Find out the different factors that contribute to Disney cruise prices and other considerations for your cruise vacation.

Key takeaways

How much does a disney cruise cost, factors affecting disney cruise prices, disney cruise price breakdown, tips for saving on disney cruise costs, bottom line.

  • The average Disney cruise price starts around $800 to $1,600 per person for a 1- to 3-night Disney cruise in an inside room.
  • Length of trip, ports of departure and arrival, and travel dates all affect pricing.
  • While a Disney cruise may be more expensive than other cruise options, it offers unique onboard experiences.
  • Disney cruises are an ideal option for families, couples, and solo travelers looking for a magical and family-friendly travel experience.

Disney Cruise Line’s fleet includes the following five luxury ships:

The above price ranges put the average cost for a 1- to 3-night Disney cruise in an inside cabin between $800 and $1,600 per person. If time on the ocean is important to you, Disney Fantasy cruise costs start at $1,500 to $2,400 per person for a 5- to 6-night cruise.

Disney cruise screenshot

However, your final Disney cruise price will vary depending on the cruise ship, length of cruise, port, destination, and time of year. Opting for a more expensive room, such as Oceanview, Verandah, or Concierge, will cost you extra money, ranging from a few hundred dollars to more than twice the price.

Additionally, the longer you cruise for, the lower your price per person, per night will be. However, your overall price may be much higher, as is the case for a 14-night Panama Canal cruise that costs over $17,000 for two guests.

Itinerary and destination

Cruise length and the destination impact price in a big way. For instance, long voyages to exotic locations cost more than short trips to nearby ports. Prices are also affected by specific port cities.

Time of year

If you want to save money on your cruise , consider traveling on Disney cruise ships during off-peak times. During peak seasons, such as summer months and holidays, prices tend to be higher compared to off-peak times. Themed and holiday cruises may also cost more than standard cruises.

Some locations have their own peak vacation season, depending on the weather in the region. It is a good idea to research prices for various times of the year to see how the dates you’re cruising will impact the price.

Room and amenities

The location and size of your room is a significant factor that affects the overall pricing of your cruise. For Disney cruises, Concierge (suite) staterooms are the most expensive options, as they come with a private veranda. Basic Inside staterooms with no sea view and just a porthole mirror are the cheapest options.

Disney cruises typically include onboard experiences, such as live shows and character meet-and-greets, and access to amenities like pools. However, some activities, like excursions, may be charged separately.

The following are included in the price of your Disney cruise trip:

  • Stateroom fee
  • All applicable taxes and port fees
  • Three meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner + soft drinks for each meal
  • Snacks and ice cream
  • Access to entertainment: Disney character meet-and-greets, live shows, Disney film showings, etc.

The vacation fare excludes shore excursions (called Port Adventures), gratuities, airfare, personal expenses ashore in the ports of call, ground and baggage transfers, and other items not specified in your itinerary.

Some onboard activities require additional charges, such as spa and salon services, excursions, babysitting services, onboard photography, and alcoholic beverages. There may also be extra baggage fees, since Disney ships allow only up to two bags per person.

Sample Cruise Pricing

Let’s say you want to plan a Disney cruise for two adults from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to the Bahamas. A 3-night cruise will cost you from $1,600 to $5,600. Opting for a cruise during peak season in June will cost the most, as will purchasing a Concierge suite room.

The cheapest option is to sail in September (which is during hurricane season and, therefore, off-peak for the Caribbean islands) in an Inside room. However, it costs only about $100 more to upgrade to an Oceanview room.

Disney cruise screenshot

There are several ways you can save on costs for your Disney cruise trip. Some tips include:

  • Book during the off-season: Research the peak and off-season of your chosen destination. For Bahamas and Caribbean cruises, you may want to reconsider sail dates during the summer months when these locations are more expensive and crowded.
  • Monitor prices: Disney cruise prices can fluctuate depending on demand. It pays to be patient and to monitor prices regularly until you get the best deal. More affordable tickets may sell out quickly, especially if you book last minute or during peak seasons.
  • Use a travel agent: A travel agent can help you find great deals on Disney cruises. They may be able to provide insider information and tips, as well as access to tickets at discounted prices. They could also help you plan a more comprehensive Disney vacation with time at Disney World as well as a cruise. Disney Cruise Line has a network of travel agents to help you plan your trip.
  • Skip specialty dining : Palo (on all Disney ships) offers adults-only dining, but it also costs $45 per guest, not including gratuities. Remy is an adults-only restaurant on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, and dinner is $125 per person. Brunch is $75, and a dessert experience is $60 per person.
  • Look for promotions and deals: Disney Cruise Line has special offers for pre- and post-cruise hotel accommodations, air travel, packages for weddings and honeymoons, Florida residents, and more. Other travel websites, like Expedia, have Disney cruise packages that include hotel accommodations and airfare.
  • Leverage your travel credit card: You could also save money on travel by using credit card points and miles. Check out the best travel credit cards to reduce the price of getting to and from your cruise port.

How much does a Disney cruise cost for a family of 4?

A family of four could spend approximately $3,200 to $6,400 for a 3-night Disney cruise in an inside room. This is based on a daily average cost of $800 and $1,600 per person for short Disney cruises. The cost of a cruise per person can vary significantly and is dependent on the travel dates, ports of departure and arrival, and room type.

How many days does a Disney cruise last?

The lengths of Disney cruises range from 1 to 14 or more days.

Is it cheaper to go on a Disney cruise than other cruise lines?

Disney Cruise Line is more expensive than competitor cruise lines, including Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line. However, Disney offers unique family-friendly amenities, activities, entertainment, and experiences that you won’t be able to find on other cruises, especially when you’re traveling with children.

Disney Cruise Line is among the most popular cruise lines, but it’s not exactly the cheapest. However, if you’re looking for a unique vacation experience with your family, a Disney cruise may be worth the added expense.

There are several ways you can save on your Disney cruise, such as comparing rates for different times of year and destinations. Be sure to compare credit cards and cruise packages to ensure you get the best deal before booking your Disney Cruise vacation.

What It Costs to Take a Disney Cruise

By Lydia Storks Leave a Comment

Eating as much soft-serve ice cream as your body can handle. 🍦 Spending all day lounging around in the pool. Devouring unlimited chicken tenders, pizza, and other meals included. And (of course) hanging out with Disney characters and watching world-class shows. Being on a Disney Cruise might sound like a true dream come true, but (like most things in life) it comes at a COST.

cost of 3 night disney cruise

Who’s ready to sail away?!

For so many reasons, Disney cruises are incredibly unique — from their family-focused atmosphere to the food, entertainment, and more that only Disney can deliver. You might be thinking “Yes! Sign me up for the next sailing! Let’s go on a cruise with Mickey!” But you’ll have to hold up for just one second. What will this cruise cost you? What options do you have when it comes to cheaper cruises or more expensive trips? How much should you prepare to spend on this special trip? Today, we’re breaking it down!

What Affects Cruise Line Costs?

Before we go through exactly what your cruise might cost, we have to first break down what could impact the price of your trip. Prices can vary (a LOT) based on different factors, including things like travel dates, room type, destination, and more. Changing up these factors can make a HUGE difference in the price of your vacation! 💸

Disney Cruise Line Pool

First, let’s discuss room type . When booking a Disney Cruise, you’ll notice that there’s a stark contrast in price between the various stateroom types . Inside staterooms are the cheapest, followed by Oceanview. Oceanview rooms will have a porthole but not a balcony. If you want something a bit fancier than that, then you can go for an Oceanview Room with a Verandah — these rooms have their own balconies. The most expensive room category is Concierge, which offers the highest quality rooms with the best amenities, including access to the Concierge Lounge.

You also may be able to save some money by traveling on the older ships. Disney Cruise Line has 4 ships currently sailing — the Disney Wonder and Disney Magic are the oldest ships. The Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream are newer. And soon the brand NEW Disney Wish will be setting sail.

You may find that some 4-night cruises on the Disney Wonder are cheaper than 4-night cruises on the much newer Disney Dream. Both of these ships also tend to be cheaper than sailing on the brand new Disney Wish , which sets sail in July 2022. For example, you’ll see that a 4-night Bahamian cruise on the Disney Magic starts at around $,2074 for 2 guests…

cost of 3 night disney cruise

…while a 4-night cruise from a different port but with the same stops starts at $2,267 for 2 guests.

cost of 3 night disney cruise

It’s also important to note that certain ports of call and destinations are typically more expensive than others . Traveling to ports like Alaska or Europe will generally cost you a pretty penny compared to a visit to the Caribbean or the Bahamas. The Alaskan and European trips are also typically much longer, which adds to the total price.

Alaska cruise

Your travel dates can also make a big impact on the price. Taking a cruise in December right at the peak of the holiday season could cost you thousands more than the same voyage in September. Cruise rates will typically go up during holiday seasons and long weekends when students are out of school, while they’ll be cheaper during hurricane season or during “slower” periods when children are in school.

Specialty sailings like the Very Merrytime Cruises, Halloween on the High Seas, or Pixar Day at Sea , can also make your sailing more expensive.

There are several other factors that you shouldn’t forget about when pricing your vacation. Disney Cruises offer an inclusive feel and they do in fact include a LOT of things, but there are some things you’ll have to budget extra pocket money for, like airline fares , travel expenses, spa treatments , alcoholic beverages, upgraded dining experiences (like Palo and Remy ), tips and gratuities, and port adventures. Make sure to keep those in mind while budgeting!

So, what is  included in the cruise cost? For your baseline cruise expense, you can expect: your stateroom (of course) tons of dining options and room service (get that soft serve and stock up on chicken tenders), Broadway-caliber shows, a fireworks spectacular on select sailings, access to youth/teen clubs and child services (though note that some things like the nursery are an additional cost), night clubs and lounges, pools, and recreation areas, a movie theatre, games and oodles of family activities, and (when the cruise includes a stop there) access to Disney private island, Castaway Cay.

Alright, now that we’ve talked about general pricing factors, let’s break down some sample pricing for those sticking to a tight budget, those in the medium realm, and those looking to go ALL OUT on their Disney Cruise budget.

The Budget Route

If you’re looking to cruise on a tighter budget, then an Inside Stateroom is likely your best option. You might be able to upgrade to an Oceanview or Verandah if you choose to travel during the off-season, like the early fall or the late winter.

cost of 3 night disney cruise

If you travel when it’s less busy, it’ll generally be cheaper.

We searched for a Disney Cruise Line sailing for any destination, on any ship, and departing from any port within the next few months for a party of 4 — 2 adults and 2 kids (ages 7 and 6). During our search, these are some of the cheapest prices we saw within each category:

1-3 night cruises: $2,056 (total) for a 3-night Baja Cruise (Inside Stateroom)

4-night cruises: $2,299 (total) for a 4-night Baja Cruise (Inside Stateroom)

5-6 night cruises: $2,804 (total) for a 5-night Baja Cruise (Inside Stateroom)

7-night cruises: $3,979 (total) for a 7-night Mexican Riviera Cruise (Inside Stateroom)

8-13 night cruises: $6,709 (total) for a 8-night Eastern Caribbean Cruise (Inside Stateroom)

cost of 3 night disney cruise

That, of course, is just based on the cruises we saw as available during our search. Availability and pricing can vary. But hopefully, this gives you a better idea of the general range in pricing on the cheaper side of Disney Cruise Line (around $2,050-$6,700).

Note also that these prices are totals for the entire trip for the entire family. You can see how one of these prices would break down in the summary below.

cost of 3 night disney cruise

Remember that these are just starting prices on the cheaper side of the price ranges. The dates for these trips are likely mainly during “slower” times like early January or other times when you might not otherwise have expected vacation time.

You may not get those same cheap prices during the holidays or during the summer. However, you may be able to sail during March or April and still get relatively inexpensive rates depending on the situation. You’ve just got to do some digging around and see what your budget will allow!

The moderate price.

If you can stretch and afford a little bit more, you could potentially go for a balcony, more expensive destinations, or other “splurges.”  Let’s take a look at some cruising options that are a bit more expensive than our cheaper selections.

For these examples, we looked at cruises more in the middle of the listings when it comes to starting price, and we then looked at rooms in the Oceanview or Verandah Category for the price (again, trying to stay in sort-of the middle range when possible).

1-3 night cruises: $2,983 (total) (Oceanview) or $3,401 (total) (Verandah) for a 3-night Bahamian Cruise

4-night cruises: $3,858 (total) (Oceanview) or $5,626 (total) (Verandah) for a 4-night Bahamian Cruise

5-6 night cruises: $4,518 (total) (Oceanview) or $5,330 (total) (Verandah) for a 6-night Western Caribbean Cruise

7-night cruises: $6,242 (total) (Oceanview) or $6,676 (total) (Verandah) for a 7-night Eastern Caribbean Cruise

8-13 night cruises: $11,770 (total) (Oceanview) or $16,162 (total) (Verandah) for an 11-night Norway, Iceland, and Scotland Cruise (maybe this should fall into the FANCY vacation pricing though at those costs!)

cost of 3 night disney cruise

As you can see, a moderately priced sailing could cost anywhere between close to $3,000 on the cheaper side to up to $7,000 or so for longer cruises (excluding those 11k and 16k figures for that pricier cruise!). If you stick to a budget of around $4,000-7,000 , you’ll generally be able to have your choice of the stateroom on 4, 5, or 6-night cruises to places in the Caribbean, Bahamas, or even the Pacific Coast.

Push the budget up to the $7,000-$8,000 range, you could do a nice 7-night trip to the Eastern Caribbean or some other spots. With an Oceanview or Verandah stateroom, you’ll have a great view of the amazing sights you’ll pass along the way!

Walking to the Staterooms

With this kind of budget, you’ll be able to travel for more of the week. And if you stay on the lower end of the budget, you’ll have extra cash to spend on port adventures and other upgrades!

The fancy vacation.

But, let’s say you want to be extra fancy. We’re talking ALL THE BIG BUCKS. Concierge, long cruises to fabulous places, the WORKS. How much could you spend then? Well, if you got the maximum level of luxury, you could easily spend tens of thousands of dollars!

For this exercise, we took a look at the most expensive starting price for the cruise in each of the sets of days and then looked at what concierge would cost for each one. For some others though, we hopped around to find those REALLY pricey trips. If you’re gonna go all out, you go ALL OUT, am I right?!

1-3 night cruises: $10,791 for a 3-night Bahamian Cruise (Very Merrytime) (December 23-26th, 2022)

4-night cruises: $27,460 for a 4-night Bahamian Cruise (Very Merrytime) (November 14-18th, 2022) (Though note that other dates had concierge for around $9,500)

5-6 night cruises: $20,573 for a 5-night Mediterranean Cruise

7-night cruises: $26,592 for a 7-night Western European Cruise

8-13 night cruises: $70,249 (total) for a 12-night Mediterranean with Greek Isles Cruise (TALK ABOUT FANCY!)

cost of 3 night disney cruise

Booking a concierge stateroom alone can get super expensive (more than $10K for a family of four!) but upgrading that room to a fancier suite can make it even more costly.

For the epitome of fancy, check out the Wish Tower Suite onboard the Disney Wish or some kind of concierge suite with more than 1 room.

Thankfully, not every Disney Cruise Line package will cost you as much as a new car! And there are often discounts or deals available that could help you lower those costs.

However, even you “budget” shoppers will want to keep a few things in mind. Disney definitely doesn’t have the cheapest cruises out there. You can go on a trip on some other cruise lines for a similar length of time for significantly LESS. But you’re paying the higher price for the Disney Cruise for a number of things — the fact that sodas are included (small, but still a useful feature), the split bathrooms that appear in many rooms, the Disney feel, the special entertainment you’ll get on board, and all of the extra touches of Disney “magic.” They may be pricey, but Disney Cruises are a one-of-a-kind vacation!

Disney Dream

Also, even though most of your costs are included, you’ll still probably want to bring some extra cash . Little things around the ship will add up, like drinks for the adults, bonus snacks, souvenirs, photos, or other add-ons. Budget for it just in case — better to be safe than sorry!

You’ll want to bring money for those drinks!

So there you have it — a breakdown of the costs to go on a Disney Cruise! Just keep in mind that these cruise prices can vary and can be affected by a number of things including the COVID-19 pandemic and more.

How Much Does a Disney Cruise Cost Per Person?

set-sail-party-on-disney-dream-cruise-ship

Just like any other cruise line, the Disney Cruise Line has a variety of cruises with different destinations, trip length and more which heavily will influence how much you’ll pay for a cruise. The Disney Cruise cost per person varies greatly depending on several factors such as the destination, the type of cabin you choose, and the time of year you plan to travel. On average, you can expect to pay anywhere from $700 to $3,000 per person for a standard 7-night Disney Cruise. However, this price can go up or down depending on the factors mentioned above.

Our team has been on two Disney Cruises, one in 2018, and one in 2022 on the Disney Wish. Both Disney cruises costed around $1500 per person, $3000 total with the same sailing, just on a different ship. So, we like to take that in mind as we write this that so far for us, the cost of Disney Cruises have been around $1500 per person.

What’s included in the price of your Disney Cruise?

  • Buffet and quick service dining throughout
  • Meals at one of three main dining rooms
  • Complimentary soda, tea, coffee and water – ice cream too!
  • 24/7  room service
  • Cruise Entertainment

When you’re calculating how much is a Disney Cruise per person, it’s important to know what’s included in the price. Your Disney Cruise price per person includes your stateroom, all meals (except for meals at Palo and Remy, the adults-only dining options), entertainment, character meet and greets, and access to the ship’s pools and fitness center. It also includes the cost of transportation to and from the port of departure.

What is not included in your Disney Cruise price?

  • Specialty restaurants (Remy & Palo – adults-only restaurants)
  • Airfare and ground transfers
  • Bottled beverages and alcohol, smoothies or specialty drinks
  • Snacks outside of dining areas (like popcorn, candy, peanuts)
  • Specialty Experiences (Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique & Royal Court Royal Tea)
  • Shore Excursions

What are Factors That Affect the Price of a Disney Cruise?

Disney-wonder-cruise-ship-sailing-alaska

The cost per person Disney Cruise can be influenced by several factors. These include the time of year (with peak travel times typically costing more), the length of the cruise, the destination of the cruise, and the type of cabin you choose. For example, a Disney Cruise for a family of 5 may cost more if you choose to travel during peak times or opt for a larger cabin.

Just like in the parks, the cheapest time to take a Disney Cruise is in September. We do have an entire article outlining the pricing of Disney Cruises and when is the cheapest time to go. The main reason September is the cheapest time to do a Disney Cruise is because of the weather. September is historically the start of hurricane season in the Atlantic and this means more delays and potential cancellations. So if a cruise does need to be canceled and is unable to be rebooked, it’s less money lost from the company. Both of our Disney Cruises have been in September, which we specifically booked for the cheaper pricing.

What affects the price of a Disney Cruise?

  • Stateroom type
  • Sailing date
  • Passenger amount (How many guests are sailing)
  • Destination and itinerary

Disney Cruise Costs by Destination

The destination of your Disney Cruise can significantly affect how much a Disney Cruise costs per person. For example, a Caribbean cruise may cost less than a European or Alaskan cruise due to the difference in distance and port fees.

For example, sailing in August 2024 the following destinations were this price:

  • 7-Night Eastern Caribbean Cruise from $3,309 for 2 guest
  • 7-Night Western Caribbean Cruise from $3435 for 2 guests
  • 7-Night Alaskan Cruise from $3728 for 2 guests
  • 7-Night Norwegian Fjords Cruise from $5,715 for 2 guests

When looking to book a Disney Cruise , as a rule of thumb, we recommend the Caribbean cruises to those who are looking to save.

Disney Cruise Costs by Cabin Type

The type of cabin you choose can also affect the Disney Cruise 2024 prices per person. Interior cabins are the most affordable option, while verandah cabins and concierge-level cabins come at a higher price point.

For example, the Disney Magic sailing on June 27th – July 1st, 2024 has 4 different room options for two guests:

  • Inside – $2979
  • Oceanview – $3299
  • Verandah – $4147
  • Concierge – $8,059

If you break that down even further for a 4 day Disney cruise cost per person for this sailing:

  • Inside room starts at $1489 per person ($372 per person, per night)
  • Oceanview room starts at $1650 per person, ($412 per person, per night)
  • Verandah room starts at $2073 per person, ($518 per person, per night)
  • Concierge room starts at $4029 per person, ($1007 per person, per night)

The newest Disney Cruise ship, the Disney Wish also has the most luxurious accommodations, offering 6 different kinds of concierge staterooms. For more than $25,000, guests can cho0ose to stay in a two-story suite with a spiral staircase and hot tub on the Disney Wish. Typically though, the most expensive Disney Cruise Concierge staterooms go for more around $8000 – $12000 for your sailing.

All Aboard! Disney Wish – Disney Cruise Line Review

A lot of people have been asking, “How was the Disney Cruise?!”

I told them I’d write a blog post about it soon. There’s a lot to cover, and there’s a lot I won’t cover because we just didn’t have time to do it all!

Those who read my blog know I try to be very transparent, especially with finances. I’ll try to give you an idea of how much everything costs in case you decide to sail with Disney Cruise Line.

Which ship did you sail on?

We were on the Disney Wish for 3 nights and 4 days . The Disney Wish had its maiden voyage in the summer of 2022. It’s currently Disney’s newest ship.

This was our itinerary for our cruise:

We actually didn’t disembark at Nassau in an effort to make the most of our time on the ship. We got off the ship at Castaway Cay (pronounced “key”).

cost of 3 night disney cruise

What is Castaway Cay?

Castaway Cay is Disney’s private island in the Bahamas. It has an interesting history. Before Disney bought the island, the island was used as a base of operations by Pablo Escobar (of cartel and Narcos [Netflix] fame). If you run the Castaway Cay 5k, you actually run on the airstrip he used.

This island is worth getting off at (as opposed to staying on the ship). It’s basically a really long beach, and there are plenty of beach chairs. The water is clear, and occasionally, we saw schools of fish swimming around our legs.

For those who want to be more active, there are other paid activities you can do (e.g. stingray encounter, snorkeling, biking, etc.). You can also run the Castaway Cay 5k (for free). The 5k is no longer organized, so you just start and finish at the 5k sign when you want and pick up your medal at the finish. I ran it with my friend Eric, but we didn’t know we were supposed to run the loop twice, so we were about a mile short.

cost of 3 night disney cruise

How much did it cost?

For 2 adults and 2 children (7yo and 4yo), the cruise itself was $2,974.76. To be clear, we got an inside stateroom (no window) , but the room was still really nice. We decided to book with a travel agent ( Michelle Shumate of Fairy Godmother Travel ), and the experience was awesome. She provided us with a lot of information and was responsive to all of our questions, so we felt totally prepared. She provided us with an onboard credit as well. I would highly recommend her if you are booking a trip to Disney / Disney Cruise. It doesn’t cost you anything extra, and you always have an expert to answer all your questions and email you about important things. ( UPDATE: I joined Fairy Godmother Travel because of my positive experience using Michelle as a travel agent (3 times). I can now help you book travel too! )

We paid a $500 deposit upfront and paid the remaining balance a little before the trip.

The room, food, room service, and entertainment is included in the price. Gratuities were an additional $174 ($14.50 per person per day). They give you a sheet with perforated slips for the head server ($15), server ($57), assistant server ($45), and stateroom host ($57) with the preset amounts. You can always tip more if you want. They provide envelopes for each person, and you put the slip into the envelope and give it to each person on the last night.

Alcoholic beverages, special drinks, photography, excursions, internet, and special activities are not included.

I think we ended up spending about $700-$800 on extras. I paid $24 twice for two 24-hour periods of internet (for work). We paid ~$200 for our daughter to do the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. We paid ~$230 for unlimited access to all the photos Disney took for us. $174 was for the gratuities.

We also put a $250 refundable deposit on our next Disney Cruise. If you put a deposit down while on the cruise, you get 10% off your next cruise if you sail within 24 months. If you don’t book, the deposit is refundable.

All in all, I think we spent a little under $4,000 on things related to the cruise for our family of 4.

How was the food?

Overall, the food was excellent. Generally, we did breakfast and lunch on our own time, but we attended the scheduled dinners at the themed restaurants: Marvel, Arendelle, and 1923. We often ate on the 11th deck at Marceline Market, which is an expansive buffet.

The servers at dinner were excellent. On the last night, I wasn’t feeling great so I stayed in my room. The server walked all the way over to my room and delivered the food to me. Room service is free anyway, but this was our dinner server.

I learned from a friend that you can order any entree from any restaurant, even if it’s not on the menu. I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass from Arendelle a couple times. You can also order as many entrees, desserts, and appetizers as you want. It’s all included!

There are two seatings for dinner every night. We had the earlier 5:45 seating. You can show up later than 5:45 if you want, but I would try to get there before 6:30 so they have time to set up for the later seating.

Dinner was quite the experience at Marvel and Arendelle. At Marvel, it’s an interactive experience. At Arendelle, there’s live entertainment in the middle of the dining room, and some of the characters walk around and greet you during dinner.

I didn’t take many food pics, but it was good!

How was the service?

The service was excellent. Our stateroom host cleaned our room every day, opened and closed the sofa bed and ceiling bed, cleaned our bathroom, and gave us new towels.

We did room service a couple times, and they were always pretty fast. The dinner servers were very attentive and put in a lot of effort.

Overall, we experienced the level of service you would expect from Disney.

How was the entertainment?

Each night, there were two shows. If you had the early dinner, you can go to the later show (I think it was at 8:30). If you had the later dinner, you could go to the earlier show.

The shows were top notch Broadway-style shows. The first night was Disney Seas the Adventure, the second night was The Little Mermaid, and the last night was Aladdin. For me, these shows were one of the highlights of the trip. I would not miss these. I don’t have any photos or videos of the shows because any sort of recording is not allowed.

What do the kids do?

On Disney cruises, there is the Disney Oceaneer Club , which is basically a kids club (no adults allowed). They give the kids a wristband to check in and check out. You can drop off your kids and pick them up as late as midnight. The area is huge, and there are plenty of different rooms for the kids to explore and play. There are lots of Disney staff entertaining and playing with the kids.

We didn’t get to drop them off as often as they liked because there were just so many things to do.

The day we were docked at Nassau, the kids played in the pools on the main deck. We also got to try out the Aqua Mouse , which is a giant water slide that soars above the periphery of the ship.

How is luggage handled?

For the boarding process, Disney will have already mailed you luggage tags. When you arrive at the port (Cruise Terminal #8 for Disney at Port Canaveral), a porter will help you with the bags. You leave it with the porter on the sidewalk there, and they will magically appear in front of your stateroom door sometime before 4pm.

For the disembarking process, you will need to have your bags packed by 10:30pm the night before . You leave the bags with a different tag (provided in your stateroom) outside your stateroom. You can keep small bags or any bags you need with you.

How are the rooms?

We had an inside stateroom. It wasn’t huge, but it was well-designed, especially the bathroom. There was a small combination tub/shower in the bathroom. The handle for the shower had two knobs, one to control the temperature and one to control the water pressure. The glass shower door opened inside and out. There were two levels of light in the bathroom (night and regular) so you don’t disturb others if you have to get up in the middle of the night. There is a queen bed, a sofa bed, and a pull-down bed that your host packs and unpacks for you every day while you’re out. There’s a TV in each room with Disney movies and shows. There’s space to put your clothes and space under the bed to leave your luggage. There’s a safe to keep your valuables in.

Some of our friends with bigger families had adjoining rooms. The larger rooms also have a split bathroom, so one person can shower while another person uses the toilet.

cost of 3 night disney cruise

I didn’t know, but it’s a thing to put your names on the doors with magnets. My wife made ours, but everyone has different styles or ways to do it.

cost of 3 night disney cruise

Was it worth it?

Yes, to me, it was totally worth the experience and the memories for us and the kids. I think it will be something that the kids remember as a happy memory. I’ve also been on Royal Caribbean cruises, and they are nice too and a bit cheaper. I had a pleasant experience with both cruise lines. Since I have younger children, I think the Disney experience was worth paying the premium. The kids club is also a nice place to drop off your kids if you want some time without the kids.

Do you get to meet Disney characters?

Yes! There are many opportunities to meet many of the Disney characters and take pictures with them. They are all around the ship at different times, and some will also be part of your dinner entertainment.

I took more video than photos, so if you want to see more, find me on Instagram @realtordannylee and @danny_fairygodmothertravel and give me a follow. I do wish I took some more photos, but I was trying to enjoy my time there and enjoy the food.

4 Expensive Disney Cruise Options That Are Worth the Cost (and One That Isn’t)

T aking a Disney  cruise  lets you be the prince or princess of a Disney story. Everything from your meals to onboard entertainment is taken care of, leaving you free to explore everything the ship offers.

Learn More:  11 Expensive Vacation Destinations That Will Be Cheaper in 2024

Find Out:  How To Get $340 Per Year in Cash Back on Things You Already Buy

Understanding  what’s included  in your package can help you decide where it might be worth splashing out a bit more cash for an even more enchanting experience.

While every Disney cruise comes with its share of pixie dust, some experiences are so spectacular they justify the extra investment. From princess makeovers to adult-only fine dining, prioritizing the right upgrades can elevate your cruise from memorable to once-in-a-lifetime.

Magical Makeovers at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique/Pirate’s League

The  Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique  offers an opportunity for your children to transform into their favorite characters, whether that’s a prince, princess or pirate. Since you likely chose a Disney cruise for the unique Disney experience or because you or your children are fans of a character or two, it makes sense to take part in this one-of-a-kind makeover option.

Princess makeovers range from $100 to $450, with the basic “Deluxe Carriage Package” including hairstyling, shimmering makeup and face gem, princess sash and cinch sack, nail polish, and t-shirt. Pricier packages also include princess gowns, accessories, tiaras, and more. To give your princess a special experience at a lower cost, you could pack a princess dress rather than paying for the more expensive package that includes one.

For those who would like to become knights or captains, you can select a package that includes a costume, sack or backpack, hairstyling and gel, confetti, and either a sword and shield or a captain’s hat and an autograph book. These packages cost $100 for the knight and $120 for the captain. Pirate makeovers are available on special Pirate Party nights.

Beer Mug or Drink of the Day Savings Package

Although Disney Cruise Line doesn’t offer an all-inclusive alcohol drink package, they do have alternatives that could be a good value if you plan to drink on your cruise. You can purchase a $17 souvenir glass beer mug that allows you to buy 21 oz of draught beer or hard cider for the price of a 16 oz beer or hard cider. This will pay for itself if you have more than around a half-dozen drinks, and you get a nifty keepsake that you can use on future cruises.

There is also an option to purchase a Drink of the Day cocktail souvenir cup that you may refill at a discounted price (and drinks of the day are already discounted). You can use these cups for drink discounts at Disney Castaway Cay as well, so don’t forget to pack your cup when you go ashore. Speaking of going ashore…

Port Adventures

A big part of cruising is going ashore during the port stops along the way. You may want to upgrade your trip by opting for  port adventure packages . These packages can include equipment rentals like bicycles, snorkels, and water tubes. They may also include cultural experiences, sightseeing, or even nature experiences like swimming with dolphins.

Booking your port adventures through Disney also offers the convenience of pre-set pricing, saving you the hassle of haggling or currency exchange. Not all the experiences are super expensive, and even splurging on a mid-range adventure will be a memorable upgrade to your cruise that reduces stress during port days.

Adult-Exclusive Dining

Every Disney Cruise ship offers dining options for adults only, so you can have a peaceful date night with your spouse while sailing. These dining options are only available for people 18 and older. The restaurant options include (depending on your ship) Palo, Palo Steakhouse, Remy, and Enchante.

After recent price increases in 2023, brunch and dinner at Palo and Palo Steakhouse will cost $50 per person for a fixed menu. Base dinner prices at Remy and Enchante are $135 per person. A la carte options are available for an 18% charge on top of the price of each item. While these meals are fairly pricey, especially considering other meals in the Dining Room are included in your ticket cost, you can’t put a dollar amount on an amazing adult-only date night.

Skip This Upgrade: Royal Court Royal Tea

One upgrade option you may have heard about is the Royal Court Royal Tea. While it’s a charming idea, especially for fans of Disney princesses, the cost is steep at $220 per child and $69 per adult.

While the description makes the Royal Tea sound charming, attendees have found it an expensive disappointment. Although it’s a popular add-on, popularity isn’t always synonymous with value. Besides, there is a completely free Princess Gathering where you can meet and greet your favorite Disney Princesses.

Disney World vs Disney Cruise – Costs, Experiences

Vacations to the Walt Disney World theme parks or a cruise on the Disney Cruise Line are both large financial expenses. However, both vacations can make amazing memories for your family that can last a lifetime. The Disney World theme parks and Disney cruises both offer unique experiences, and many families often wonder if one is better than the other. So this leads us to the comparison of Disney World vs Disney Cruise!

We have taken several Disney cruise vacations and visit the Disney World theme parks weekly. In this article we will compare a trip to the Disney World theme parks and a Disney cruise including costs, experiences, dining, accommodations, and entertainment for each. We will weigh the pros and cons to each type of Disney vacation and give our personal opinion on which one we think is best in each category.

Let's get into all the pros and cons of a Disney World vs Disney Cruise.

In this article:

Walt Disney World vs. Disney Cruise – Costs

Although Disney Cruises are usually more expensive than most Disney World vacations, they include other perks that Disney World park tickets do not include. For example, Disney cruise packages usually include food and the cost of your room. Vacations to Disney World require several separate purchases including theme park tickets, hotels, and food which can add up very quickly. However, the positive side to customizing your Disney World vacation is that you can pick and choose how you want to spend your money.

There are also ways to help make your Disney World or Disney cruise cheaper or more cost effective depending on the length and the time of year you take a cruise. In addition to our favorite reseller Get Away Today , Disney Cruise Line's website breaks down the cost of each cruise depending on length, destination, and choice of rooms. Disney World also has a Special Offers, Deals & Discounts website for various discounts which is periodically updated.

As a price comparison, we will look at a four night stay at a moderate Disney World hotel and a four night Disney cruise sailing to the Bahamas from Port Canaveral, Florida, which is about an hour away from Disney World. We will use a family of four as an example with two adults and two children under the age of 18. We will also use the same time frame to compare the cost of each trip during the same period to avoid any upcharges associated with popular times of the year.

Cost of a Four Night Disney Cruise

A Disney cruise sailing between June 3-7, 2024, from Port Canaveral, Florida, to the Bahamas on the Disney Wish cruise ship would cost $6,942 for the cheapest stateroom. If you wanted an oceanview stateroom, the cost would increase to $7,150, which isn't a horrible upcharge for a better view. The next best room, the Verandah, which is a more spacious stateroom with a private verandah would cost  $7,622 .

Although the price tag seems high, keep in mind that the cost of the cruise would include, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Entertainment and Activities  including Broadway-quality shows, fireworks, character experiences and meet and greets, movie screenings in a state-of-the-art theater or on the ship deck, water slides, and more.
  • 24 Hour Dining  including table service meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as quick-service bites during lunch, dinner, and snacks. Cruises also provide 24-hour room service, unlimited ice cream, coffee, tea, and soda.
  • Accommodations including spacious staterooms with a refrigerator, safe, hairdryer, and shower products.
  • Kids Clubs  for varying age groups including 3 to 10 years old, 11 to 14 years old, and 14 to 17 years old.
  • Adult-Exclusive Activities  including nightclubs and lounges with live music, an adults-only pool and whirlpool spa, and fitness center.
  • Disney's Private Island at Castaway Cay  which includes a family and adults-only beach, waterslides and splash zones, beach gear to rent such as towels and chairs, live music, character appearances, and a barbecue lunch.

Although not absolutely necessary, there are several upgrades guests can purchase separately on a Disney cruise. These are not included in the total cost of a cruise but may be considered when booking a Disney cruise. These upgrades include, but are not limited to:

  • Adult-Exclusive Fine Dining
  • Bottled Water, Alcoholic Beverages, and Specialty Drinks
  • Services at Senses Spa & Salon
  • Snorkel gear, floats, rafts, bicycle rentals at Castaway Cay
  • Port Adventures at Castaway Cay

Cost of a Four Night Disney World Vacation

Although there are several packages and ways to bundle your Disney World vacation, we will simply look at the cost of a hotel, park tickets, and the Disney Dining Plan for each member of the family.

For a four night stay at Disney's Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter, as well as 4-day theme park tickets (one park per day), and the quick-service Disney Dining Plan, it would cost  $4,622.  This price would include, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Theme park tickets  for each member of the family. For this package, the family of four would be able to visit one of the four Disney World theme parks per day. Note that this price does not include the park hopper add-on option, which would cost an additional total of $383.40 . If you wanted to add the Water Park and Sports option, that would be an additional $298.20  and would allow guests to visit Disney's two water parks as well as play miniature golf and other activities. For an additional  $468.60 , the family could add the park hopper plus option, which allows guests to park hop between any theme park or water park each day and enjoy any of Disney's miniature golf courses.
  • Hotel room  at one of Disney World's moderate level resorts. Port Orleans – French Quarter is a very popular and guest favorite resort located near Disney Springs, which has some of the best dining options and shopping. This resort is a fairly less expensive option, but still offers many amenities including a pool, lounge, quick-service restaurant, and a unique New Orleans theme.
  • Disney Dining Plans  for each member of the family. There are two different dining plans to choose from, and this price includes the less expensive option, known as the quick-service dining plan. The quick-service dining plan includes two quick-service meals, one snack or non-alcoholic drink, and one resort refillable drink mug per person per day. For  $470  more, you have the option to upgrade to the Disney Dining Plan. This plan includes one table service or character dining meal, one quick-service meal, one snack or non-alcoholic drink, and one resort refillable drink mug per person per day. Guests using either dining plan receive their meals and snacks each day until the day of checkout. Any unused meals or snacks will over over day to day and expire at midnight on the day of checkout.

There are several other Disney World vacation expenses that you will want to consider purchasing separately. There is the obvious merchandise expenses which will vary from family to family. Some do not purchase any souvenirs at the theme parks, but this is very unlikely as you will probably want to purchase at least a few things to remember your trip.

Other purchases for a Disney World vacation include:

  • Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lane , or “fast passes,” must be purchased separately and can add up quickly for a family of four. Genie+ ranges anywhere between  $16 and $39 per person per day . Individual Lightning Lanes range between  $10 and $20 per person per attraction . Although you may not need Genie+ for every park and every ride requiring Individual Lightning Lane, it may be convenient. Disney World advertises that Genie+ allows guests to skip the standby line of at least 2 or 3 attractions per day. In our experiences, if you use Genie+ effectively you can probably book up to 5 or 6 Genie+ reservations per day. Whether or not you plan on purchasing Genie+, check out our full guides for Disney World theme park early entry strategies for Animal Kingdom , Magic Kingdom , EPCOT , and Hollywood Studios for more tips on how to get the most of your park day. Additionally, check out our full guide on how to purchase and use Genie+ .
  • Disney Photo Pass Digital Downloads , known as Memory Maker , allows your family to download digital copies of all photos taken on select attractions and locations throughout the theme parks. If purchased in advance, the Memory Maker package costs $185 and saves all photos taken on your vacation for a 30 day time period. If you do not purchase the Memory Maker before your vacation, it will cost $210 . Memory maker is a great way to remember your vacation for years to come and we recommend purchasing in advance to save on the $25 upcharge.

Overall, the cost of a Disney cruise package will likely be more expensive, but when considering all of the additional add-on purchase for Disney World vacations, it could come out to be a very similar price range. Walt Disney World vs. Disney Cruise – Experiences

The experiences on a Disney cruise compared to a vacation at Disney World are extremely different and honestly hard to compare. The experiences are both unique in their own right and is likely based on your personal preference. The positive side to experiences on Disney cruises is that they are all very easy to access, whereas at Disney World you usually have to drive or walk a fair distance to experience a lot of what Disney World property has to offer. However, since Disney World is so large, they have more experiences for guests to enjoy.

In this section, I will compare the various experiences between Disney World and Disney Cruises including character meet and greets, excursions and recreational activities, as well as the overall atmosphere of each.

Disney World vs. Disney Cruise – Character Meet and Greets

For those interested in meeting characters, you will definitely have your fill at both Disney World and on a Disney cruise. Although there will obviously be more opportunities and unique characters throughout Disney World, Disney cruises are very unique because you can have more personal and up close interactions with characters more often.

Disney Cruise Character Meet and Greets

The characters on Disney cruises mostly depends on what ship you are sailing on, however you can count on meeting the classic Disney characters such as Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, and Donald during any Disney cruise. Disney cruises also have special meet and greets with characters from various Pixar and Marvel movies.

These character meet and greets include, but are not limited to:

  • Meet Elsa, Anna, Kristoff and Olaf from Frozen during the Arendelle dining experience on the Disney Wish
  • Meet your favorite Marvel characters on the Disney Magic during Marvel Day at Sea on the Disney Magic  or the Worlds of Marvel dining experience on the  Disney Wish
  • Join Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, and Donald on at Mickey's Sail-A-Wave Party on the  Disney Magic  and  Disney Wonder
  • Meet your favorite Pixar characters from Toy Story, Up, Monster's Inc. and More at the Pixar Pals Party on the  Disney Wonder
  • Meet your favorite Disney characters in pirate-themed costumes on Pirate Day on all cruise ships – Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, and Disney Wish

Disney cruise guests will receive a schedule of when and where you can meet and interact with these favorite characters.

Disney World Character Meet and Greets

Although there are a lot more character meet and greets throughout Disney World theme parks, resorts, and restaurants, they are not as easy to get to compared to the Disney cruise ships. However, with proper research and planning everyone in your party is sure to meet one of their favorite characters. Below we will list all of the permanent character meet and greets throughout the Disney Work parks, however, there are other character dining experiences at resort restaurants as well. Disney World vs. Disney Cruise – Excursions and Recreational Activities

Disney cruises offer lots of fun activities both on and off the ship. Notably, there are many types of adventures families can enjoy called Port Adventures , which are on shore excursions that have been specially selected by Disney Cruise Line. No matter where your cruise ship takes you, you are sure to find an amazing excursion for the family. These excursions include private adventures, culinary adventures, and location-specific adventures such as horseback riding, ziplining, or wildlife expeditions. Although a lot of these adventures cost additional money, it is an awesome way to make your Disney cruise more enjoyable.

Although most of Disney World is focused on the incredible theme parks, there are a ton of other recreational activities for guests, especially seen throughout some of the Disney World resorts. A lot of these activities are even free , and include some of our favorite activities to enjoy at Disney World.

Overall, the unique excursions on Disney cruises win this category due to the unique locations that each cruise takes their guests. From Castaway Cay at Disney's private island, to unique experiences in Alaska, New Zealand, Hawaii, and Europe.

Disney World vs. Disney Cruise – Overall Atmosphere

As you can see so far, the biggest differences between Disney World and Disney cruises are the overall size and unique experiences. Disney World theme parks are unlike most theme parks in the entire world. There just isn't a way to match the world class rides and attractions, dining, and entertainment. It is rare to find someone who doesn't find at least one thing to enjoy during a day at Disney World.

Although the parks are a great way to spend a vacation, the biggest downside is the logistics. For many, Disney World is almost too big to enjoy. There are no hotels that are within walking distance to each park, making transportation inconvenient for most hotel guests. Guests must almost always take a bus, boat, Skyliner, monorail, car, or Uber in order to visit each park. Additionally, many guests walk at least 20,000 steps per day in order to experience each park as to offer. Many joke that you need another vacation after they return from their Disney World vacation.

Therefore, if you are looking for a more relaxing and stress free vacation, a Disney cruise is probably better in terms of overall atmosphere. Although you don't get to experience the incredible attractions at Disney World theme parks, you will still get a true Disney feel both on ship and on their private island.

Although we think the overall atmosphere is better at Disney World, many will likely disagree since a Disney cruise takes guests to beautiful locations in a stress-free and relaxing environment.

Walt Disney World vs. Disney Cruise – Dining

Similar to experiences, the dining comparisons between Disney World and Disney cruises is difficult to look at side by side. Although Disney World offers over 200 restaurants and lounges, the Disney cruise dining is all inclusive, 24/7, and located steps away from each of their guests' staterooms.

Disney Cruise Dining

The upside to a Disney cruise is that guests have unlimited access to meals, snacks, desserts, and drinks without any added expenses. Disney cruise guests even have 24/7 room service which is rare at any hotel you can find inside or outside of Disney World.

In addition to having food included with your cruise package, Disney does an amazing job with the service of each meal. Especially for families with young children, it is very convenient that servers will take care of your children's meals before you are served your own. This way, by the time the adults' meals are served, the children are already digging into their meal and don't need additional help from their parents. This type of service proves why Disney service is top notch especially compared to other cruise lines.

Disney World Dining

The obvious upside to dining at Disney World is that there are hundreds of restaurants and different types of food to choose from each day. Not only are there amazing restaurants within the theme parks, but there are also top tier restaurants at the Disney World resorts as well as Disney Springs.

Overall, although the Disney cruise packages conveniently include meals, snacks, and drinks within their inclusive package, the quality and variety of food at Disney World theme parks is a much better option.

Walt Disney World vs. Disney Cruise – Entertainment

Disney World always has entertainment available throughout each of their theme parks. From street performers, to the Dapper Dan singers, and Broadway-quality shows such as Festival of the Lion King. Some of our favorite shows and entertainment at Disney World include:

  • The Festival of the Lion King at Animal Kingdom
  • Happily Ever Fireworks at Magic Kingdom
  • Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade at Magic Kingdom
  • Fantasmic! at Hollywood Studios
  • For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration at Hollywood Studios

Despite not having any many shows available, Disney cruises also have amazing Broadway-quality shows for guests to enjoy as they cruise. These shows include:

  • The Little Mermaid Live Show on the Disney Wish
  • Live Jazz Music at the Soul Cat Lounge on the Disney Magic
  • Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure on the Disney Wish
  • Disney Seas the Adventure on the Disney Wish
  • Beauty and the Beast Live Show on the Disney Dream

Although our favorite entertainment can be found throughout the Disney World theme parks, the Disney cruise shows are amazing considering the lack of space they have compared to Disney World. These shows give guests another taste of Disney magic and are a great perk to Disney cruises.

Walt Disney World vs. Disney Cruise – Accommodations

Disney World has dozens of incredible resorts for guests to choose from ranging in value, moderate, and deluxe level pricing. Each resort has it's own unique themes and transports guests into the world of Disney. Although there aren't any Disney World resorts we would not recommend, you can check out our favorite Disney World hotels for each visit type here . There are also so many perks associated with staying at Disney World resort, including:

  • Early Morning Magic Hours  which allows resort guests to enter any Disney World theme park 30 minutes early
  • Extended Evening Hours  which allows deluxe resort guests to enjoy extended evening park hours on select days
  • Free transportation between your resort, Disney's theme and water parks, and Disney Springs

Disney World accommodations are definitely more impressive and enjoyable than the accommodations on Disney Cruise Line ships. However, the staterooms on Disney cruises are some of the best compared to any other cruise ship. Additionally, you have the extreme convenience of being closely located to all of the activities on board the ship. As mentioned previously, logistically it is difficult for guests to travel between their Disney World hotel and each of the four theme parks. Disney Cruise accommodations are much easier to travel between and are still worth the price.

Walt Disney World vs. Disney Cruise – Which is Better?

Now for the biggest question – is a vacation at Walt Disney World or a Disney cruise better? Well, as you can probably tell by now it really is up to personal preference. It's extremely hard to compare both as they offer very different and unique Disney experiences. Both are awesome vacations for families who are lucky enough to take them.

However, we believe as a total vacation for a family, a Disney cruise is the better option for a vacation with the family. Not only are Disney cruises more relaxing, but the excursions and activities for every member of the family cannot be beat. Parents also have the abilities to enjoy many activities on their own without having to worry about their children with the accessibility of the Kids Club. Therefore, although guests won't have access to the best rides and attractions in the world, Disney cruises can be much less stressful and enjoyable for the whole family.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most people prefer to go on a Disney cruise instead of Disney World. Disney cruises offer more unique experiences that Disney World does not offer, such as both family and adults-only activities, entertainment, fine dining, and more. Most guests also prefer a Disney cruise because of Disney's private island, Castaway Cay, which offers even more activities, relaxation, and entertainment for guests of all ages. Although Disney World has so much to offer, it is not as relaxing as a cruise, and guests of a cruise can still experience a strong Disney theme on board their cruise ships.

On average, the price of a Disney cruise is more expensive than a trip to Disney World. However, it all depends on what type of accommodations and time of year the vacation is taking place. Disney cruises are currently very high in demand, and therefore there are not many discounts guests can use to purchase a cruise package. Disney World has a lot more options to make their trip cost effective, such as staying at a value level resort, or purchasing discount theme park tickets through resellers or using a Florida resident or military discount. However, guests staying at a deluxe level resort and consistently purchasing park hopper tickets, using Genie+, and eating at nicer restaurants may experience high costs than at a Disney cruise.

Yes, Disney cruises are all inclusive. The price of each cruise includes your stateroom, meals and drinks, snacks, and entertainment on the ship at at Disney's private island, Castaway Cay. There are several upgrades for purchase such as Wifi, fine dining, and additional recreational activities, however most of what you will need is included in the total price of a Disney cruise.

The cheapest time of year to take a Disney cruise is in September, due to most kids returning to school. Disney World hotels can also be less expensive during this month for the same reason, as Disney often offers discounts on room prices.

No, Disney cruises do not include a visit to Disney World. However, one of the Disney cruise ports is based in Port Canaveral, Florida, which is about an hour away from Disney World. Therefore, many guests book a trip to Disney World separately in addition to their cruise. This is a convenient way to experience both Disney World and a Disney cruise in one trip, especially for guests who are traveling from other states or countries.

AFL round seven: Dockers beat Bulldogs to make top eight, Geelong stay unbeaten but count injury cost, Crows cruise to big win over Kangaroos

Sport AFL round seven: Dockers beat Bulldogs to make top eight, Geelong stay unbeaten but count injury cost, Crows cruise to big win over Kangaroos

Fremantle Dockers are into the top eight after they kicked clear in the final stages to seal a 24-point win over the Western Bulldogs in Perth.

Josh Treacy and Bailey Banfield kicked three goals each for the Dockers, the latter sealing victory with a thumping kick from 50 in the final two minutes. The win ends a three-game losing streak for the home side.

Nat Fyfe was fantastic in the middle for the Dockers, but even his efforts have paled into comparison to what Caleb Serong is producing.

Serong set a club record for most possessions when he racked up 46 disposals against Brisbane in round one.

And the 23-year-old set another one, this time for clearances, against the Bulldogs on Saturday when he tallied a whopping 17 from his 37 disposals.

"It's just a normal game for Caleb tonight," coach Justin Longmuir joked.

"It's a phenomenal effort to get 17 clearances and even more so against that midfield … that's outstanding and exceptional.

"I'm not sure where it sits in the AFL. I haven't seen that number too often, but he's a pro.

"He continues to work on all aspects of his game. His ground ball is up there with the best in the comp.

"He trusts himself because of all the work he's done, and I'm just really proud of him as a person.

"You see him go to work every day and the example he sets for his teammates as a young player and young leader is great."

The Bulldogs's loss was further soured by an injury to livewire forward Cody Weightman, who was subbed out with a suspected dislocated elbow after a hard landing from an aerial contest.

Earlier, the unbeaten Geelong survived a late surge from Carlton to win by 13 points at the MCG, but their captain Patrick Dangerfield will miss time after injuring his hamstring.

And Adelaide Crows won their second game of the year, beating the Kangaroos in Hobart.

Check out the match reports from all three games:

  • Crows crush the Kangaroos in Hobart

Cooper Simpson and Patrick Voss lead the Dockers off the ground after a win over the Bulldogs.

That wraps up a big day of football where injuries played a major part with Patrick Dangerfield and Cody Weightman likely to miss some time.

Tomorrow we are back to finish the round, beginning with the Inter-coastal showdown between the Suns and the Eagles at Carrara starting at 1pm AEST.

Then we wrap things up with Hawthorn hosting the Sydney Swans at the MCG.

Thanks for joining us today, stay with us on ABC for any fallout from today's games and injuries - and we'll see you back here for Sunday football.

Good night.

Tough night for Western Bulldogs

Was last week a false dawn for the Bulldogs?

Losses to Geelong and Essendon had put them under pressure before their big win over St Kilda.

They had their moments tonight, particularly through the likes of Bailey Dale and Caleb Daniel after he was subbed on for Cody Weightman.

That elbow problem keeps happening for the livewire forward. Hopefully he won't be out for too long.

That was a tough loss for Luke Beveridge's men, and they will be looking to steady with a win over Hawthorn next weekend.

Fremantle 14.11 (95) def Western Bulldogs 10.11 (71)

Bailey Banfield was the unlikely hero as Fremantle posted a thrilling 24-point AFL win over the Western Bulldogs at Perth Stadium.

A week after kicking 0.4 in a shock western derby loss to West Coast, Banfield kicked two clutch goals in the dying minutes on Saturday night to secure the 14.11 (95) to 10.11 (71) win in front of 45,931 fans.

The result snapped a run of three straight losses for the Dockers, and improved their season record to 4-3.

Banfield finished the match with three goals from 22 disposals.

The Bulldogs trailed by just six points with a little over four minutes remaining.

Banfield's 45m set shot gave Fremantle a 12-point buffer.

Then with less than two minutes remaining, Banfield nailed a tough 50m shot near the boundary line to secure the victory, with Michael Walters' late goal adding icing on the cake.

Fremantle veteran Nat Fyfe wound back the clock with 37 disposals, seven clearances and a goal, while Caleb Serong (37 disposals, 17 clearances) was also a monster in the middle.

Dockers debutant Cooper Simpson, who was subbed into the game in the second quarter, showed flashes of brilliance and finished with three score assists.

Fremantle spearhead Josh Treacy was superb with three goals from eight marks.

Bulldogs utility Bailey Dale continued his resurgence with 30 disposals and two goals, while Sam Darcy kicked three goals.

Liam Jones was a spoiling machine in defence for the Bulldogs.

Bulldogs forward Rhylee West could be in trouble for a high shepherd that struck Brandon Walker in the head, resulting in the Dockers defender being assessed in the change rooms for concussion.

The Bulldogs suffered a blow before the match when midfielder Tom Liberatore, who was due to return from concussion, was ruled out through illness.

The loss was compounded when forward Cody Weightman appeared to dislocate his left elbow again when he landed hard from a marking contest in the first quarter.

What's next for the Dockers and Bulldogs

  • Rd 8: Richmond (MCG)
  • Rd 9: Sydney Swans (Perth Stadium)
  • Rd 10: St Kilda (Docklands)
  • Rd 11: Collingwood (Perth Stadium)
  • Rd 12: Melbourne (Alice Springs)

Western Bulldogs:

  • Rd 8: Hawthorn (Docklands)
  • Rd 9: Richmond (MCG)
  • Rd 10: GWS (Sydney Showground)
  • Rd 11: Sydney Swans (Docklands
  • Rd 12: Collingwood (Docklands)

Caleb Serong breaks a record for Fremantle

Nat fyfe back to his best for freo.

That win was driven by many people - including Josh Treacy as previously mentioned.

But we can't go past dual Brownlow medallist and former Dockers skipper Nat Fyfe.

He was one from the opening bounce and was involved in everything. 37 disposals (18 contested), four tackles, seven clearances, and 10 score involvements.

What a game.

FT: Fremantle beats Western Bulldogs by 24 points

It was tight, it was tough, it wasn't pretty in stages, but the Dockers won't care.

Another goal from Michael Walters is the cherry on top in the final minute, and as the siren sounds the crowd rises as one.

The Dockers end a three-game losing streak, and they will be in the eight at the end of the round!

That's a vital win for Freo, especially after last week's disastrous loss in the Western Derby.

Bailey Banfield wins it for Fremantle!

They've done it!

The Dockers went forward again, and Bailey Banfield marked inside 50. He runs around, kicks from the arc and hoists a swinging kick the drifts in from the left ... and falls through!

Freo leads by three goals! They will get the win here.

Huge game from Josh Treacy

If the Dockers get over the line here, a lot of the credit will go to Josh Treacy.   Aside from his vital goals, his eight marks have been precious for the Dockers, helping them control the football in the late stages here.

Bailey Banfield kicks a vital goal for Fremantle

Huge moment!

Debutant Cooper Simpson is playing a blinder, he gets the ball down the wing, takes his time and instead of going for glory or the square, he spots up Bailey Banfield in space.

He marks inside 50 and kicks the goal! The Dockers lead by 12 points!

Marcus Bontempelli back on the ground

The Bulldogs skipper spent a long time on the bench, and there weren't opportunities to get him back on, but he's there now for teh last five minutes.

Nothing in it in final stages

The teams are getting tired, the errors are coming, and there is one straight kick in it with seven minutes left.

Chance for Patrick Voss

What a move for the Dockers!

Josh treacy took a great contested mark in the middle.

he handballs to first-gamer Cooper Simpson, who goes long to his fellow debutant Patrick Voss - he marks inside 50!

But misses the chance to kick his second.

Six points in it with 10 minutes left.

Chance missed for Freo

Pressure is on here!

The Dockers stream forward after a smother from Tom Emmett.

They went down the left then centred the ball for Luke Jackson - it went too far for him, but he chased down the Bulldogs defender. Out on the full!

Jackson kicks from deep in the pocket - it misses.

Five points the lead.

Aaron Naughton kicks a goal for the Bulldogs

The Dogs answer!

It's to-and-fro in the final quarter, the ball goes to a contest deep inside 50, it goes over the back and Aaron Naughton snaps on the run from a narrow angle.

It's there!

back to four points!

Tim English misses another shot for the Bulldogs

The visitors attack looking to answer quickly.

Tim English marks in the left forward pocket - but it's another missed set shot for the Bulldogs!

Michael Frederick gets the early goal for Fremantle

A tight beginning to the final term ends with the Bulldogs under pressure - Freo get the ball back on the wing and James Aish finds Michael Frederick inside 50.

He marks and kicks the goal - Dockers lead by 11!

3QT: Fremantle leads Western Bulldogs by five points

The Bulldogs have missed so many chances in this quarter, but Sam Darcy marks in the final seconds, and the son of a gun nails it after the siren!

The Dockers lead by five points at the final change.

Marcus Bontempelli has a bad miss for the Bulldogs

The Bulldogs had a big attack deep in time on, Marcus Bontempelli took a mark close to goal.

He ran in from about 15 metres out - AND HE MISSES!

You'd never have seen that coming from the Bulldogs skipper.

Will that be costly in the end?

COMMENTS
