We The Kingdom

We The Kingdom is a multigenerational family of musicians, including esteemed producers and songwriters Ed Cash (Chris Tomlin, NEEDTOBREATHE, Bethel Music, Crowder), Scott Cash, Franni Rae Cash Cain, Martin Cash and Andrew Bergthold. The band organically formed at a Young Life camp in Georgia. Each of the five members had come to lead worship, but they themselves were weary and heartbroken due to a number of difficult circumstances. Late one night, as they spontaneously gathered to write a song for the campers, their collaboration caught fire, bringing with it personal healing and a fresh dream for the future. As one of the top 20 breakout artists across all genres in 2020, the group’s first single, “Holy Water,” reigned at the top of the Christian radio charts for eight weeks, earning them four Dove nominations and a win for “New Artist of the Year.” We The Kingdom’s chart-topping debut, Holy Water—featuring two consecutive No. 1 radio singles (“Holy Water,” “God So Loved”)—is available now.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – (June 4, 2021) – Grammy award winner Chris Tomlin is celebrating the beginning of summer with the announcement of new music and a new tour. On July 2nd, Chris will release the Chris Tomlin & Friends: Summer EP and on August 13th will kick off a 13-city amphitheater tour with Kari Jobe, Bethel Music, and special guest Cody Carnes. Tickets are on sale to the public on Friday, June 11 at 10am local time at christomlin.com and fans can sign up for the exclusive pre-sale HERE now . 

“Over the last year I’ve come to realize that I have taken for granted the ability to gather together as the church in worship,” shared Chris. “Ever since I was young I have felt a calling on my life to help give people a voice to worship God and for me, I can't think of a more critical moment in time for us to come back together and worship... unified and as one voice. Worship is more than a concert, it’s about your soul connecting to God, it's eternal and an opportunity to join in everlasting praise. To not only worship outside amidst God’s creation but to do it alongside some of the most influential worship leaders in the church right now is something I am honored to be a part of. This is truly going to be a moment of impact and one we will never forget.”

On the heels of the success of Chris’ #1 debuting album Chris Tomlin & Friends, which currently has over 150 million global streams and had  two songs featured in Spotify’s Viral 50, Tomlin is set to release a follow up EP. The album included Chris’ second longest running #1 song “Who You Are To Me” featuring Lady A that topped the charts for six consecutive weeks, and debuted at #6 on the Country Billboard Albums chart. The Chris Tomlin & Friends: Summer EP  is set to release on July 2nd and will feature superstar artist collaborations which will be announced in the upcoming weeks.

“As we are coming out of this unique moment in history, my prayer for everyone as they listen to these songs is that they feel encouraged, uplifted, and be reminded that ‘the greatest of these is love’,” said Chris. “It is with great anticipation that we head into this summer with the announcement of the tour and the upcoming release of the EP, knowing that it’s going to be filled with new memories and powerful encounters with the living God.” 

Chris previously spoke to Billboard about the friendships he built while making Chris Tomlin & Friends and his hope to take a step towards breaking down walls and smashing up the genres. The project featured 13 tracks with some of country music’s biggest superstars, including executive producers Florida Georgia Line, Lady A and Thomas Rhett as well as Russell Dickerson, Chris Lane, RaeLynn, Cassadee Pope and Brett Young in addition to Bear Rinehart of NEEDTOBREATHE, Blessing Offor and We The Kingdom. Chris performed one of the tracks of the project, “Thank You Lord”, which featured Florida Georgia Line and Thomas Rhett, on the Today Show and The Late Late Show with James Corden as part of promo for the album.

As one of the most successful Christian touring artists today, Chris will launch the amphitheater tour this August which is currently slated for 13 cities running through September 3. Contemporary Christian Music band We The Kingdom  — known for their Billboard Christian Airplay chart-toppers “Holy Water” and “God So Loved” — will ring in the holiday season with the six-song EP A Family Christmas , which is due out on Friday (Oct. 22).

The project’s name is appropriate, given that the band includes hit CCM producer/songwriter Ed Cash, his children Franni Rae and Martin Cash, his brother Scott and family friend Andrew Bergthold.

In 2020, soon after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the band off tour, they crafted their full-length debut album August 2020’s  Holy Water . They also picked up a new artist of the year honor at last year’s GMA Dove Awards; this year, the group is nominated for contemporary christian artist of the year, pop contemporary album of the year (for Holy Water ), and worship recorded song of the year (for “God So Loved”).

Franni says the new EP’s opener, “Still Can’t Sleep on Christmas Eve,” has been a holiday anthem in their family for the past decade.

“Most of these songs we’ve written together recently, but that one kind of kick started it way back when,” she tells Billboard . “It’s been really sweet to now get to kind of see that whole picture become even more completed.”

As with their album Holy Water , the band members returned to Ed Cash’s home studio to record the new EP. “It’s funny because with Christmas songs, you know, it’s hard to get into the spirit of Christmas in the middle of the heat of July, but most of the records I’ve ever worked on that are Christmas records get recorded somewhere between May and July,” says Ed, who adds they decorated the studio with a small Christmas tree and other holiday accoutrements.

“Our studio is in the basement of my house and literally all of the Christmas stuff we store shares a closet with a lot of guitar cases and music equipment. So that made things easy,” he adds.

Dante Bowe and Maverick City Music join on “Silent Night (Heavenly Peace),” while the album also includes “Christmas Day,” a collaboration with Chris Tomlin, which was included on Tomlin’s September release Emmanuel: Christmas Songs of Worship (which was produced by Ed Cash).

“He’s such a true soul and a great carrier of songs,” Bergthold says of Tomlin. “I think he’s one of the best songwriters of our generation without a doubt. I also love that even though he didn’t write this song, there have been certain songs in his career that he’s been a champion for. I love that he’s sort of open-handed about all of that. Its says a lot about his heart and he’s taught us a lot. I’m just honored to have his support and get to work with him.”

Making an album of uplifting, inspirational music also took on a deeper emotional resonance.

“Christmas 2020 was the most emotional Christmas I’ve ever had because we lost our father,” Ed Cash says. “He had been battling dementia. I got to spend Christmas with him in the mountains and it was so bittersweet, because on one hand, he was passing away but we were also with him in his room, singing songs as a whole family, like all 25 of us in the bedroom at their place in the mountains. We had a white Christmas, it was dreamy and we were laughing, crying and everything in between. I love the lightness of a song like ‘Still Can’t Sleep on Christmas Eve’ because Christmas can be such a heavy time for a lot of people.

“I think for us to have songs like ‘Glorious’ and ‘Silent Night’ on there, we wanted lightheartedness and reverence,” Ed adds.

We The Kingdom are currently on the road with Zach Williams and working on songs for a new project.

“For the first time, we’re making a record while on the road, writing and trying to do production. It’s been wild. It’s been exhausting, honestly,” Ed says. “Super fun, super hard, it’s a lot of paradoxes. We kind of started working on another project right away. We’re always getting caught up and in just like the spirit of creativity. We’ve written a host of songs that we love and that’s always the starting point.”

The band’s members hope A Family Christmas is just the beginning of a series of holiday-related ventures. “We have a vision over the next several years to keep writing Christmas music and include new versions of traditional songs, and then have a Christmas concert series,” Ed says. “We’re trying to build that.”

Amen! Christian music star Chris Tomlin bringing 'Holy Forever' tour to Canton in October

C ANTON − Contemporary Christian music star Chris Tomlin will bring his "Holy Forever" world tour to the Canton Memorial Civic Center on Oct. 25.

Tomlin follows other nationally touring entertainers who have performed at the Canton Memorial Civic Center in recent months, including country music artists Cole Swindell and most recently, Brantley Gilbert. Comedian Jeff Dunham performed at the venue this past Saturday before a sold-out crowd.

The 51-year-old singer-songwriter has scored No. 1 songs in the Christian music genre while selling more than 12 million albums and amassing 6.8 billion global streams. He's also received numerous Billboard Music Awards and Dove Awards while being recognized as an ASCAP Songwriter of the Year and BMI Songwriter of the Year, according to Tomlin's news release.

Hit song 'Holy Forever' tallies more than 140 million streams

The Grammy-nominated " Holy Forever " topped Billboard's streaming, airplay and sales-based Hot Christian Songs charts while tallying more than 140 million streams.

“I never could have imagined how quickly the song would connect with the church around the world," Tomlin says on his website.

Tomlin also has garnered millions of YouTube views for the songs "Nobody Loves Me Like You" and " Is He Worthy ?"

“Tomlin’s name has become synonymous with modern worship music, as the Texas native has issued songs that have evolved into music standards sung by church congregations around the world," Billboard said.

Tomlin is among only a handful of musical artists to receive the SoundExchange Digital Radio Award for more than 1 billion digital radio streams, joining Justin Timberlake, Pitbull and Garth Brooks, the news release said.

He's also the first Christian artist to reach a billion streams on the music streaming platform Pandora.

Canton Civic Center is only Ohio tour stop

The Grammy winner's tour includes stops in Nashville, Boston, St. Louis, Kansas City, Seattle and Anaheim, as well as Germany, England, Hungary and Ireland. Tomlin will be performing at arenas seating more than 10,000 people and up to nearly 20,000. The Canton Memorial Civic Center is among the the smaller venues on the tour, seating around 5,000.

The Canton concert will be on the second leg of Tomlin's tour, which includes shows in Phoenix, San Diego, Pittsburgh, Houston, Orlando, Chicago, Atlanta, Baltimore and Indianapolis. Opening acts on some stops will be CAIN and Tauren Wells .

Canton is Tomlin's only Ohio show on the tour.

Tickets start at $20 plus fees

Earlier this month, Tomlin released the album, "Live From Good Friday." In 2022, he released the studio album, "Always," which features "Holy Forever," as well as "Always," "I See You" and "O Lord, You're Beautiful."

Tomlin also recently released the book , "How Great is Our God: Living a Worship-Led Life in a Me-Driven World."

Tickets for Tomlin's Canton concert go on sale to the general public starting at 11 a.m. Thursday. Tickets range from $20 to $95 plus fees for the 7 p.m. event and also can be purchased from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays at the box office at the Civic Center, 1101 Market Ave. N.
