Queen + Adam Lambert Announce 2023 North American ‘Rhapsody’ Tour Dates

  • By Andy Greene

Andy Greene

Queen + Adam Lambert are bringing their Rhapsody Tour back to North America for their first shows on this side of the Atlantic since 2019. The tour kicks off Oct. 4 in Baltimore, Maryland, and wraps up Nov. 11 in Los Angeles, California.

“This tour has lots of new bells and lots of new whistles,” Queen guitarist Brian May tells Rolling Stone . “We’ve evolved as performers, I think. We’ve stepped up our game. We have better chemistry than ever. We understand each other better than ever, and we feel more free in the way that we interpret stuff. We’re very happy with it. There’s lots of new production and stuff we want to excite you with.”

The set will focus on Queen classics like “Another One Bites The Dust,” “Somebody to Love,” and “Radio Ga Ga.” But they sprinkled in deep cuts like “Tear It Up” and “A King of Magic” in Europe last year, and hope to keep doing that.

“This show has evolved since its been in America since we’ve taken it around the world,” adds drummer Roger Taylor. “It’s quite a different show in a way, while retaining all the big hits, which so many people want to hear.”

Ticket sales begin Friday, March 31. In an effort to keep prices low and reduce scalping, the band is going to utilize the Ticketmaster Face Value Exchange, which makes it impossible to sell tickets for more than face value. “It’s an experiment,” says May. “We got sick of seeing our fans get ripped off by scalpers. We’re hoping this works out.”

The 250 greatest guitarists of all time, the 500 greatest albums of all time, the 50 worst decisions in movie history, every awful thing trump has promised to do in a second term.

Queen + Adam Lambert first played together on the 2009 finale of American Idol. They began gigging together in 2012, and have stayed on the road consistently over the past decade. Filling in for Freddie Mercury was a daunting task at first for Lambert, but he’s grown very comfortable with the job over the years.

“I feel less anxiety now,” he says. “I’ve matured as a performer. I trust myself a bit more. I will say that when the movie [ Bohemian Rhapsody ] came out, we had all these new fans, and many of them were young, I felt this little pang of, ‘Oh, these are new fans that haven’t been to a show yet.’ I needed to prove myself again, which is good. It keeps me on my game.”

The 2018 movie was an enormous success that grossed $911 million and won four Academy Awards, including Best Actor for star Rami Malek. It ends at Live Aid in 1985, and there’s been scattered talk over the past few years of a sequel that would chronicle Mercury’s final years.

“We need a script,” says May. “That’s what it comes down to. It took us 12 years to get the script for Bohemian Rhapsody , and get the right team in place. I’m not anxious. I think if the right thing comes along, it might work. We have our wonderful producer, Graham King, on it. It’s a possibility. If the right planets align, it might happen.”

“He would be welcome,” adds Taylor. “But I don’t think it’s going to happen.”

At the moment, this next leg of the Rhapsody Tour is just 14 shows, but it’s very possible they’ll tack on more. “People are buying tickets,” says Lambert. “And hey, we like performing.”

Featuring a dazzling state-of-the-art stage design, incredible special effects and set pieces, this sense-swamping extravaganza has been blowing critics and fans away the world over.

Having extensively toured over the last few years, the Rhapsody show is forever evolving. But it remains at heart a tribute to Freddie Mercury’s majestic legacy, a confirmation of Brian and Roger’s undimmed musical prowess, plus a magnificent showcase for Adam’s vocal skills and electrifying stage charisma, all of which adds up to a glorious full-blooded celebration of one of the greatest songbooks in rock history. MORE ON TICKETS:

Queen + Adam Lambert appreciate that it is an enormous task to try and stop scalpers from taking advantage of fans wanting to purchase tickets for the tour. In an effort to help minimize resale and keep ticket prices at face value for fans, the band are collaborating with the venues’ ticketing partners to restrict the ability to transfer tickets for The Rhapsody Tour so that they may only be transferred between fans at the original price.

Fans will still have protection against unforeseen circumstances. Those who purchase tickets and are no longer able to attend their show will be able to sell their tickets at the price they paid using a face value ticket exchange, including the Ticketmaster Face Value Exchange – which is free to use for buyers and sellers. More information on how the Ticketmaster Exchange works is available here .

Unfortunately, the states of NY, IL, and CO have laws in place which protect ticket scalpers – these laws prohibit artists from being able to restrict the transfer of their tickets to face value exchanges only. For shows in these states, Queen + Adam Lambert strongly encourage fans to only buy or sell tickets to one another on face value exchanges. More information can be found here , with more details to follow in the coming weeks.

Queen + Adam Lambert Unveil North American ‘Rhapsody’ Tour Dates: ‘These Are New Glory Days’

Queen Adam Lambert

“These are kind of new glory days for us,” said Queen guitarist and founding member Brian May, who was literally knighted by King Charles III earlier this month. “It’s nice to think that hopefully there will be the demand for that.”

But the guitarist, along with founding drummer Roger Taylor and singer Adam Lambert , was on the other side of the Atlantic in Thursday, in New York to announce the group’s 14-show North American leg of its “Rhapsody” tour — its first since 2019 — which runs from Oct. 4 through Nov. 11.

Popular on Variety

Shows on the overseas “Rhapsody” tour dates featured around 25 songs plus four encore numbers, and included the hits “Killer Queen,” “Fat Bottomed Girls, “Another One Bites the Dust, “We Will Rock You / We Are the Champions” and the song with more than 2 billion Spotify streams that lent its title to a film and this tour, “Bohemian Rhapsody.”

Queen promises some deeper cuts on this jaunt. Lambert says, “I’m not sure exactly what we’ll pull out for this one. Look, I would be happy just to show up and do what I was told if that was how it was. But I’ve been really fortunate to work with these two gentlemen who are very collaborative, and we get to all throw ideas in and work things out. I’m really grateful for that it makes me even more invested in it.

It’s been a decade since the group’s first live American concert, though the first time they performed was in 2009 when May and Taylor were guests on the eighth season of “Idol.” May remembers the first actual American concert in Las Vegas in 2013 for the iHeart Music Festival: “It felt so good both internally and from the [crowd] reaction that we thought, ‘My God, this is something we shouldn’t be letting go.’ I think we foresaw some kind of future, didn’t we? But not quite as big as it actually happened. It’s been colossal.”

Lambert agreed, “I don’t think I would have imagined that it would have been the gift that keeps on giving.”

The current Rhapsody tour features Queen + Adam Lambert’s regular band members, longtime keyboard player and musical director Spike Edney, bass guitarist Neil Fairclough and percussionist Tyler Warren. Founding bassist John Deacon left the band and effectively retired from music following Freddie Mercury’s 1991 death, and chose not to be present at Queen’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.

Despite a 30-year-plus age difference between Lambert, 41, and May, 75 and Taylor, 73, the three have an easy camaraderie that’s evident both onstage and off. Lambert was only three when Queen’s iconic 1985 Live Aid performance rocked the world, but it was something he got to recreate at the Fire Fight fundraiser concert in Sydney, Australia in February 2020, a month before Covid shut down the world.

As a fan growing up, Lambert was familiar with Queen’s Live Aid footage. “But when it came time to first join the band on stage, I was like, ‘I have to know my stuff’ so I watched as much as I could. Besides Live Aid, one of my favorite things was Montreal concert where Freddie was running around in a pair of itty bitty white shorts and no shoes,” Lambert says. “I just I remember seeing that and going ‘This guy’s amazing.’ He was so free and ridiculous and just full of joy and I’ve been so inspired by that spirit. I try to approach shows with that same humor…”

“And shorts?” Taylor quipped.

“Not the shorts for me — Freddie had much better legs,” Lambert concluded.

A general on sale date for the Queen + Adam Lambert  U.S. tour is March 31, and in light of exorbitant ticket prices and “dynamic pricing,” the band stated in a release that “In an effort to help minimize resale and keep ticket prices at face value for fans, the band are collaborating with the venues’ ticketing partners to restrict the ability to transfer tickets for the Rhapsody tour so that they may only be transferred between fans at the original price.”

Queen + Adam Lambert Announce ‘The Rhapsody Tour’ Fall 2023 North American Dates

Queen + Adam Lambert are back to rock North America one more time, announcing fall North American dates for "The Rhapsody Tour."

The trek is set to launch Oct. 4 in Baltimore, Maryland and will hit stops in the U.S. and Canada through a Nov. 11 finale in Los Angeles. See all of the dates, cities and venues listed toward the bottom of the page.

For fans wondering, Queen view the show as an evolution of the performances that they were putting on prior to the pandemic. "We were changing it and improving it as we went, and we are now going through all of those improvements again when it comes to this American leg," says drummer Roger Taylor to Billboard .

When asked about the changes to the set and production, guitarist Brian May was coy, explaining, "Well, we’re not gonna tell you that much, we don’t want to spoil it. [laughs] But the nice things is that the material is what ultimately gives the ideas, and we’re able to develop those ideas as we go along. We get to throw more and more stuff in, production-wise."

Lambert chimed in, "I will say, the technology has come so far, even in the 10 years that we’ve worked together. It gives us so much freedom when it comes to what we want to create, what environment we want to put around a song. We have all of these toys that we get to play with, which we all get a big kick out of. We have an amazing creative team that work with us — I mean, we add something in a couple of days if we have a cool idea. Once the show kicks off, the show is never locked. It’s never the same show every night, we have the ability to throw a new song in, move the set around, change the visuals. There’s so much freedom."

As for whether or not this is the band's final run, May commented, "Let me be clear, this is not a farewell tour. You can always do one more time … and then one more time … and then another time after that!"

Tickets for "The Rhapsody Tour" will go on sale next Friday (March 31) at 10AM local time via Live Nation .

Queen and Adam Lambert Extend 2023 U.S. Tour Dates in Select Cities

by Tina Benitez-Eves April 1, 2023, 9:00 am

By popular demand, and sold-out shows, Queen and Adam Lambert have extended their forthcoming Rhapsody Tour with additional dates in select U.S. cities.

Videos by American Songwriter

The 22-date Rhapsody Tour, which follows Queen and Lambert’s successful U.K. and European tour in 2022, will kick off on Oct. 4 at the CFG Bank Arena in Baltimore, Maryland with stops across the U.S. before wrapping up in Los Angeles at the BMO Stadium on Nov. 12. Second dates have been added to New York, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Baltimore after the initial shows in these cities sold out.

“Our last tour featured our most ambitious production ever,” said Brian May in a statement, “so we decided to rip it apart and get even more ambitious. Watch out world.”

Lambert added, “I can’t wait to tour North America one more time with the Rhapsody Tour alongside the two unbelievably talented legends that are Brian May and Roger Taylor.”

Backed by a state-of-the-art designed stage with special effects, Queen and Lambert will be joined by keyboardist and musical director Spike Edney, bassist Neil Fairclough and percussionist Tyler Warren for a 150-minute set celebrating the band’s catalog of hits, including “Radio Ga Ga,” and “Somebody To Love’,” “We Will Rock You,” and “Don’t Stop Me Now,” along with deeper cuts and other fan favorites.

This tour may also be the final outing together for Queen and Lambert, according to May.

“There’s a strong possibility that we’ll be going out together again,” said May in a 2022 interview. “We’re talking about that as you and I speak, making those decisions. Now, it does get to be more of a decision as you get older. I’m not 35 anymore, and leaving home for two months is not easy. But we feel as if we’re all fit and well, that we’d like to go out there one more time. It would probably be in the United States in 2023 at some point.”

Earlier in March 2023, May was knighted by King Charles III nearly a year after Queen and Adam Lambert performed at the  Platinum Jubilee  at Buckingham Palace to celebrate the late  Queen Elizabeth II ‘s 70-year reign.

May also recently hinted that he wants to work on a sequel to the 2018 Queen biopic   Bohemian Rhapsody .

“We’ve been talking about it,”  said May . “I felt proud of it, and the people who played us were just phenomenal. It’s so tempting to do the sequel. It would be worth it just to work with those boys again.”

Having first launched their universally acclaimed Rhapsody Tour with 26 epic shows across North America during June & July 2019, Queen + Adam Lambert are taking their highly acclaimed production, now expanded and updated, back to where it first began.

Sir Brian May, Roger Taylor and their exceptional frontman Adam Lambert are returning for a further spectacular North American run of sold out shows which gets underway next week with its opening show Wednesday October 4 in Baltimore.

Promising an “even more ambitious show”, the band’s 23-date US tour begins October 4 with the first of two shows at Baltimore’s CFG Bank Arena continuing throughout North America including stops in Toronto, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, Dallas, Denver and further cities before closing out with a pair of dates at Los Angeles’s BMO Stadium November 11 and 12. In addition, the band will perform a special one-off headliner on October 21 at the Formula 1 Lenovo U.S. Grand Prix at Circuit of The Americas, Austin, Texas.

Brian May says, “We’re still calling our show “The Rhapsody Tour,” but the content has evolved massively from when you last saw it. New toys, new takes, but all the hits and more.”

Says Adam Lambert says: “I consider it a beautiful twist of fate that I was put on a path that aligned me with Brian and Roger. I can’t wait to tour North America one more time alongside the two unbelievably talented legends that are Brian May and Roger Taylor.”

Roger Taylor adds: “Adam is certainly a real force on stage. It’s been nothing but a riotously funny and enjoyable journey with him. He is simply one of the best vocalists in the world – FACT!”

Queen + Adam Lambert’s 150-minute career-spanning set list celebrates the band’s extraordinary back catalogue, lining up immortal anthems like “We Will Rock You”, “Don’t Stop Me Now”, “Radio Ga Ga”, and “Somebody To Love” alongside classic deep cuts and vintage fan favourites.

Featuring a dazzling state-of-the-art stage design, incredible special effects and set pieces, this sense-swamping extravaganza has been blowing critics and fans away the world over since its very first unveiling in North America in 2019 .

It has been over a year since the band last toured their acclaimed “Rhapsody Tour,” which was highlighted across the world in royal fashion Saturday June 4, 2022 with a special performance in front of London’s Buckingham Palace as the opener for the Platinum Jubilee concert celebrating the late H.M. Queen Elizabeth’s 70-year reign, providing an altogether magnificent opener for its UK & European run of sold-out dates which saw the band play the Rhapsody tour across the UK and 11 countries throughout Europe, in all playing a total of 36 concerts.

The 2023 North American tour will see Queen + Adam Lambert supported on stage by their regular band members, long-serving Queen keyboard player Spike Edney, bass guitarist Neil Fairclough and percussionist Tyler Warren.

Having extensively toured since it first debuted in North America in 2019, the Rhapsody show is forever evolving. But it remains at heart a tribute to Freddie Mercury’s majestic legacy, a confirmation of Brian and Roger’s undimmed musical prowess, plus a magnificent showcase for Adam’s vocal skills and electrifying stage charisma, all adding up to a glorious full-blooded celebration of one of the greatest songbooks in rock history.

Adam Lamber (L) and Brian May jam out onstage together.

Forget karaoke — starting in October, you can sing along with the band that brought classics like “Bohemian Rhapsody” to the world.

After a four-year hiatus, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group Queen is returning to the road with lead singer Adam Lambert for their 14-concert ‘Rhapsody Tour’ that will send them to arenas all over North America from Oct. 4 through Nov. 11.

On the brief tour, the band that inspired the Oscar-nominated film “Bohemian Rhapsody” will bring all the hits like “Under Pressure,” “Fat Bottomed Girls,” “We Will Rock You,” “Another One Bites The Dust,” “Somebody To Love” and so many more to the Big Apple when they play New York City’s Madison Square Garden on Oct. 12.

And don’t worry — the ‘Rhapsody Tour’ isn’t just a rehash of Queen’s greatest hits.

“This is about giving (fans) a show that feels fresh,” singer Adam Lambert said in an interview with Billboard . “We are keenly aware of what the favorites are and we try to include the big hits every night — they have a lot of hits, so it’s a lot to choose from.”

Need tickets to hear fresh versions of “We Are The Champions,” “You’re My Best Friend” and “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” now?

Not a problem.

Although inventory isn’t available on Ticketmaster until Friday, March 31, fans who want to ensure they have tickets ahead of time can purchase on sites like Vivid Seats before tickets are officially on sale.

Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They have a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and will be delivered before the event.

Queen 2023 tour schedule

A complete calendar including all tour dates, venues and links to the cheapest tickets available for each ‘Rhapsody Tour’ concert can be found below.

Queen band members

There may never have been a more high-profile lead singer replacement for a band than Adam Lambert assuming Freddie Mercury’s place back in 2011.

Who’s playing behind the 41-year-old former “American Idol” finalist though?

Well, original members drummer Roger Taylor and recently knighted guitarist Sir Brian May are still around 53 years after the band formed in 1970.

“These are kind of new glory days for us,” said May in an interview with Variety .

They’ll be joined by Spike Edney on keyboards and rhythm guitar, Neil Fairclough will handle bass and Tyler Warren plays percussion and drums.

Edney, Fairclough and Warren also provide backup vocals.

Queen set list

Not many bands have a three-disc Greatest Hits album.

Queen does though.

That being said, it’s not easy to distill a legendary catalog into a single concert — classics like “Flash” might not make the cut.

Based on past gigs, here’s what you can expect to hear on this tour based on their 2019 U.S. concert set lists.

01.) “Now I’m Here”

02.) “Seven Seas of Rhye” 03.) “Keep Yourself Alive”

04.) “Hammer to Fall”

05.) “Killer Queen”

06.) “Don’t Stop Me Now”

07.) “In the Lap of the Gods… Revisited”

08.) “Somebody to Love”

QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT Announce Fall 2023 North American Tour

Having first launched their universally acclaimed "Rhapsody" tour with 25 epic shows across North America in 2019, QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT are bringing their highly acclaimed production, now expanded and updated, back to where it first began. After a four-year-long hiatus, Sir Brian May , Roger Taylor and their exceptional frontman Adam Lambert have announced they will set out on a spectacular North America run this fall. Produced by Live Nation , the tour kicks off on October 4 at Baltimore's CFG Bank Arena, making stops in Toronto, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, Dallas, Denver and more, before concluding at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. See full routing below.

May says: "Our last tour featured our most ambitious production ever. So we decided to rip it apart and get even more ambitious. Watch out, world."

Lambert states: "I can't wait to tour North America one more time with the 'Rhapsody' tour alongside the two unbelievably talented legends that are Brian May and Roger Taylor ."

QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT 's 150-minute career-spanning set list celebrates the band's extraordinary back catalog, lining up wall-to-wall immortal anthems like "We Will Rock You" , "Don't Stop Me Now" , "Radio Ga Ga" and "Somebody To Love" alongside classic deep cuts and vintage fan favorites. Featuring a dazzling state-of-the-art stage design, incredible special effects and set pieces, this sense-swamping extravaganza has been blowing critics and fans away the world over.

As with last year's European dates, the 2023 North American tour will see QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT supported on stage by their regular band members, long-serving QUEEN keyboard player and musical director Spike Edney , bass guitarist Neil Fairclough and percussionist Tyler Warren .

Having extensively toured over the last few years, the "Rhapsody" show is forever evolving. But it remains at heart a tribute to Freddie Mercury 's majestic legacy, a confirmation of Brian and Roger 's undimmed musical prowess, plus a magnificent showcase for Adam 's vocal skills and electrifying stage charisma, all of which adds up to a glorious full-blooded celebration of one of the greatest songbooks in rock history.

Tickets will be available via a general on-sale beginning Friday, March 31 at 10 a.m. local time at LiveNation.com.

QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT appreciate that it is an enormous task to try and stop scalpers from taking advantage of fans wanting to purchase tickets for the tour. In an effort to help minimize resale and keep ticket prices at face value for fans, the band are collaborating with the venues' ticketing partners to restrict the ability to transfer tickets for the "Rhapsody" tour so that they may only be transferred between fans at the original price.

Fans will still have protection against unforeseen circumstances. Those who purchase tickets and are no longer able to attend their show will be able to sell their tickets at the price they paid using a face value ticket exchange, including the Ticketmaster Face Value Exchange — which is free to use for buyers and sellers.

Unfortunately, the states of New York, Illinois and Colorado have laws in place that protect ticket scalpers. These laws prohibit artists from being able to restrict the transfer of their tickets to face-value exchanges only. For shows in these states, QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT strongly encourages fans to only buy or sell tickets to one another on face-value exchanges.

QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT "Rhapsody" fall 2023 North American tour dates:

Oct. 04 - Baltimore, MD - CFG Bank Arena Oct. 08 - Toronto, ON - Scotiabank Arena Oct. 10 - Detroit, MI - Little Caesars Arena Oct. 12 - New York, NY - Madison Square Garden Oct. 15 - Boston, MA - TD Garden Oct. 18 - Philadelphia, PA - Wells Fargo Center Oct. 23 - Atlanta, GA - State Farm Arena Oct. 25 - Nashville, TN - Bridgestone Arena Oct. 27 - St. Paul, MN - Xcel Energy Center Oct. 30 - Chicago, IL - United Center Nov. 02 - Dallas, TX - American Airlines Center Nov. 05 - Denver, CO - Ball Arena Nov. 08 - San Francisco, CA - Chase Center Nov. 11 - Los Angeles, CA - BMO Stadium

I'd like to say it was simply amazing! But there was nothing 'simple' about this show. Queen still inspires and rocks young and old! My husband and I have been fans since we first heard them on the radio in the early 70s. Brian May doesn't miss a lick in this show. He is still the best guitarist alive. He holds the audience like no other. I've been to enough concerts and seen that moment when it's time for 'the guitar solo' and people get up and go for another beer or the t-shirt vendor. Not so with Brian! People were in awe...as well you will be, too, if you see this show! Roger Taylor also delivers as solid a performance as I have seen from him, as well. This time around he has a dueling drums gig with his son Rufus who matches him strike for strike. It is a great moment and almost a kind of passing of the guard, dare I say. Roger later performs his song "These are the Days of Our Lives" while scenes of Queen's past are show on the big screen. It's an extraordinary piece. Adam Lambert sings the devil out of Queen's music. There isn't a person alive that I am aware of who could do what that boy does vocally! It was superb! His facial antics were so animated and cute and completely worthwhile. Sadly, when you are in the nosebleed seats, you feel like you have to watch the big screen the whole show to catch all of that. Adam felt a little like he had to stand at the microphone and I was hoping he had a little more stage presence. But that may come with more practice. He is by far the best choice for Queen's frontman since Freddie.

This is a MUST SEE show. Get a cheap seat. Get the last seat. Pay too much! Whatever... just get there if you can.

(On a side note, why are they not performing in more cities or adding shows?!)

Queen and Adam Lambert promised to rock us.....and so they did. With extremely big shoes to fill, Adam held his own. He paid homage to the legendary Freddie Mercury, and did it so well, I know he's up there smiling. Brian and Roger, while visibly a little older still have it. They rocked as hard as they did on the stages 30 years ago. They performed their hits including "Bohemian Rhapsody," "Killer Queen," "We Will Rock You" and "We Are the Champions." Last night's concert happened to be Roger's birthday so Adam the whole 13,000 seat venue sing him Happy Birthday. They also threw in Dragon Attack which wasn't on the regular set list. At the end of the day, these guys brought the house down. From hearing them play from my dad's records when I was a little girl to the cd's in my car, it was a dream come true to witness the legends in what might be their last tour. They truly are the champions of the world. ;)

As a life long Queen fan and idoliser of the great Freddie Mercury I can honestly say the naughty queenies are well and truly back.

Adam Lambert makes no attempt to fill the shoes of Freddie relying on his own amazing voice and flamboyance to breath new life into the greatest band of all time. This new trio backed by the pyrotechnics available in the modern world put on a show that is breathtaking and encompassing their entire back catologue.

Whether you are a 70's or 80's fan of the band you will not be disappointed.

the only disappointment for me is that I don't have tickets for anymore of the shows and would only plea that they don't leave it too long before touring the UK again.

Their majesties still reign supreme.

It's been a unique, mindblowing, memorable show. Brian May continues to be an intact legend, just as good as back in the day.

A show of lights accompanies the whole night and specially the guitar solo part, which is unique.

Adam Lambert has an incredible voice and makes it all seem easy. Makes singing Freddie written notes seem easy. Of course, he is not Freddie and I'm glad he doesn't try to look like him. He's just got his own style which is good, as noone would want to see him pretending to be Freddie. Anyway, his voice is amazing and at the height of the show.

Thank you, Queen, for one of the best shows (if not the best) I've ever experienced.

I wasn't sure what to expect with Adam Lambert. It was very good, maybe better than I thought that it would be, Adam Lambert is NOT Freddie Mercury, but no one will ever be the equal to the best front man in rock and roll history. However, Adam Lambert (who came out looking a lot more like George Michael than Freddie) did a great job. He didn't have the thickness in voice that Freddie has, but he is as close as a person will probably get. For my friends who were wondering if anyone would go to the concert, it was absolutely packed an hour before the start of the concert! PACKED! Very enjoyable night, especially with a good friend!

Queen & Adam Lambert killed it last night in Brooklyn! The crowd was a great mix of all ages and races, it was a beautiful thing! The show started at 8:30 & they played for a good two hours! Adam's vocals were amazing as always, he definitely does a great homage to Freddy! Seeing Freddy on the giant screens was also a treat! Brian and Roger clearly don't let age get in the way! At last 2 great guitar solos and a killer drum solo, these boys still got it! The stage also had an impressive light show and stage effects! If you can catch this show in a town or city near you, you def should!!

Saw Queen and Adam Lambert 18/06/22 at the 02 in London. Now I have seen some gigs in my time but was blown away with this concert it was awesome. Adam was amazing and Brian and Roger were fantastic. Was moved by some of the songs played and great to see Freddie included in the show. Everything about it was superb and can't wait for the next tour as I will be ahead of the queue for tickets as those we have told. Martin Russell, Hessle, East Yorkshire UK.

Brian and Roger still play convinced.

Adam is not my type of singer but at least he can sing every note! They should leave out their acting play though, it was a kind of not fitting into their show. But the music was good and a few numbers in the setlist like 'Stone Cold Crazy' were surprisingly good!

The concert was amazing. Jyske Bank Boxen did a great job and the employes were helpful.

Adam, Roger and Brian blev the roof of Jyske Bank Boxen in Herning and sound, light and stage were perfect!

These guys are legends and being at one of their concerts is a dream come true!

Queen and Adam Lambert kick off tour with pomp, vigor and the spirit of Freddie Mercury

queen and adam lambert tour 2023 usa

BALTIMORE – Who knew we needed the dazzling showmanship, the unmatched catalog of layered pop rock and the undiminished musicianship of Queen + Adam Lambert this much?

The band rooted by original guitarist (and noted astrophysicist) Sir Brian May and suave drummer Roger Taylor hasn’t played stateside in four years, when its Rhapsody tour first launched.

On Wednesday, at the first of two shows at Baltimore’s CFG Bank Arena, the Queen + Lambert extravaganza reignited for a 23-date tour that will run through November in all of its garish glory.

Here are some highlights from the tour kickoff, a 27-song master class in potent songs and delicate homage with the magnetic Lambert its humble ringleader.

What songs do Queen + Adam Lambert play on the 2023 Rhapsody tour?

Playing off the futuristic feel of the staging – lots of chrome and robots on video screens – the band kicked off the two-hour-plus show with “Radio Ga Ga,” the hand-clapping 1984 hit that found the platinum-haired Lambert strutting the stage in a silver breastplate and cape .

Though the band brought the Rhapsody production to Europe last summer, the set list has been jiggled and peppered with some different songs, including the rough-riffing “Stone Cold Crazy” – played for the first time since 2018 – and the magnificently theatrical “The Show Must Go On.”

Queen also unveiled “Is This the World We Created…?” from 1984’s “The Works” album, which has never been played in the decade that Lambert has fronted the band. Sitting at the end of a catwalk with only May, 76, on acoustic guitar, Lambert showcased the purity of his versatile voice on the ballad.

The multigenerational crowd also lapped up plenty of well-worn classic rock radio staples. “Another One Bites the Dust” needed only its opening bass notes from Neil Fairclough for recognition; “Somebody to Love” spotlighted a soulful Lambert spreading his multi-octave voice across the song; and “Bohemian Rhapsody” wrapped the pre-encore set instilled with Lambert’s dramatic entrance from beneath the stage, May sporting a mirrored jumpsuit amid a blizzard of lights and the original Queen video for the song employed to handle the tricky operatic passage in the song.

How does Freddie Mercury factor into the Queen + Adam Lambert tour?

The naysayers who contend that Queen has been nothing but a cover band with Lambert at the helm need to take a seat. Lambert’s respect for Mercury has always been palpable, and at Wednesday’s show, you could see his subtle nods to the original Queen frontman, who died in 1991.

Mercury surely would have swooned at the ornately decorated rotating motorcycle that Lambert sat atop – complete with a crotch cam – for the pairing of “Bicycle Race” and “Fat Bottomed Girls” and grinned at Lambert’s shoulder shimmies worthy of Liza Minnelli in her prime during an adrenalized “Don’t Stop Me Now.”

But Mercury was remembered in a more direct way when Lambert, 41, praised the “two rock ‘n’ roll legends” sharing the stage with him and continued with, “We do this with Freddie in our hearts, and I know he’s in your heart.”

A couple of songs later, May, as he has done on past tours, took a solo turn at the edge of the catwalk to sing “Love of My Life” in a tender voice. It was a chill-inducing moment when he asked the crowd to hold up their lighted phones (“In the old days it used to be candles,” he joked) while footage of Mercury crooning the ballad appeared in split screen with May on the overhead curved video screen.

Who else is playing with Queen + Adam Lambert?

While the sweetly grinning May mesmerized with his distinctive guitar lines throughout the show and Taylor, dapper in a black tie and vest, steamrolled through demanding songs at age 74, the multilayered construction of the band’s songs require a bit more of a lift.

Joining May, Taylor, Lambert and Fairclough were longtime keyboardist and musical director Spike Edney and percussionist Tyler Warren, who frequently jammed alongside Taylor on these musically precise classics.

With a combination of exceptional lighting and voluminous slices of lasers, the scorched-earth singing of Lambert and the continued expert presentation from May and Taylor, this Rhapsody tour doesn’t feel like a victory lap, but, rather, a deeper solidifying of Queen’s legacy.

Adam Lambert Says Freddie Mercury Is in His Heart 'Every Time I Take the Stage' as He and Queen Close Out 2023 Tour

Lambert, alongside original Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor, played the final two shows of their North American tour over the weekend at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles

Adam Lambert  made sure to keep the legacy of late Queen  frontman, Freddie Mercury , alive as he and original band members Brian May  and  Roger Taylor  closed out their North American tour.

Over the weekend, Lambert, May and Taylor played the final two shows of their 2023 Rhapsody Tour at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. The shows marked the end of Queen's 22-show North American Tour — their first tour in four years — which kicked off in October in Baltimore.

While addressing the crowd during Saturday's show, Lambert, 41, spoke about how fortunate he was to tour with the rock legends over the past 10 years. He also made sure to pay tribute to Mercury, who died at age 45 in 1991.

"L.A., what's up?" Lambert greeted the crowd. "It's so good to be home here after an amazing tour with two rock and roll legends. You know that I've been on the road for 10 years with Queen? Isn’t that nuts?"

"Just know that every time I get up here, I know that I’m f---ing lucky," Lambert continued. "I know how much of an honor this is. And be assured that every time I take the stage, I have one person in my heart: Freddie Mercury!"

As the crowd went wild, Lambert continued on. "You love Freddie too, right? That’s what this is, this is a celebration of Freddie and Queen," he said before breaking into Queen's hit, "Don't Stop Me Now."

Later during the show — which featured 150 minutes of hits that spanned Queen's decades-long career, including classics like "We Will Rock You," "Radio Ga Ga" and "Somebody to Love" — May, 76, honored his late bandmate in his own moment onstage.

Singing their acoustic song "Love of My Life," May sat on a stool and performed for the crowd before a clip of Mercury singing the same song appeared on the screen above the stage. At the end of the performance, May reached out to his left — the same direction where the clip of Mercury was positioned on the screen — making it appear as if the two were on stage together.

Though Lambert is assuming the lead singer role that Mercury once had, the American Idol alum and his bandmates have previously made it clear that he's not trying to be the late iconic singer.

"He doesn't try to be Freddie, which is wonderful," May told PEOPLE in March . "He always pays tribute to Freddie, which we love. We all do. Freddie's with us, but Adam interprets, he finds new ways to go and we are very much a team now. We discuss everything, we build, we rebuild and it's fun."

Lambert agreed, calling his partnership with May and Taylor, 74, a "team effort," and acknowledging that Mercury "laid the groundwork" for all that they've accomplished together.

"He's the originator. He can't be replaced, but it gives me so much freedom to just exist in a playful, kind of silly place," he said. "Freddie had a great sense of humor, from what I hear and what I've seen, and he was sort of limitless."

While it's been 10 years since they first started touring together, May said he still finds it unbelievable that he gets to tour with Taylor and perform their Queen hits with the help of Lambert.

"The amazing thing is we didn't look for Adam. I often think, 'My God, how did this happen?' He is kind of a gift from God," he told PEOPLE in March. "Roger and I, after we lost Freddie, said 'OK, this is the end of it.' We knew consciously, 'No, we're not going to this anymore.'"

"He just appeared," May continued of Lambert. "The voice is extraordinary. There is no other voice in the universe like his voice. Plus he has all the other stuff, I mean, look at the guy. He's born to wear diamonds."

With the North American portion of their tour now complete, Queen and Lambert have a few months off before heading to Japan in 2024 for a five-show run, kicking off Feb. 4.

"It's just a privilege to be able to do this at the top level that we are," May told PEOPLE in March. "How wonderful. How could you possibly ask for more? I think we're very happy doing it. I'm probably going to do it 'til I drop."
