Chase Stadium: A Guide To Inter Miami Matches

Welcome to Chase Stadium, Formerly DRV PNK Stadium, located in beautiful Fort Lauderdale, Florida, serving as the present home for Inter Miami CF, a new Major League Soccer (MLS) franchise. When Inter Miami, a new MLS franchise co-owned by football legend David Beckham, came in 2019, they built the current Chase Stadium which is basically a temporary facility until the 25,500 seat stadium at Miami Freedom Park comes online in 2025.

Just before the 2024 season Chase Bank bought the naming rights as the DRV PNK Stadium name which had been around for a few years was dropped and Chase Stadium was born. “It has always been a dream to take an amazing global brand like JP Morgan Chase, partner with them, and all over the world when they mention Inter Miami and Lionel Messi, that it be at Chase Stadium. So today this announcement is a milestone for us, the beginning of a long-term relationship with them…. Chase Stadium is going to be personified with Inter Miami for many years,” explained owner Jorge Mas in the presentation for the name change

In addition to its current use, Chase Stadium plays a significant role in the transition to Inter Miami CF’s future plans. A proposed 25,000-seat soccer-specific stadium, called Freedom Park , is being built in Miami, Florida, as the permanent home for Inter Miami CF. In spring 2022, final approval was given by the city of Miami to construct the stadium on the current site of the Melreese golf course, situated close to Miami International Airport. I assume the name of the new stadium will be Chase Stadium as well, but that hasn’t been announced officially yet.

While awaiting the completion of Freedom Park, Inter Miami CF continues to play their home matches at Chase Stadium. Expanded to around 21,550 for the excitement and demand around Messi in 2024 It should be an exciting year for MLS in Miami! PRE-GAME INCLEMENT WEATHER PROTOCOL:

If a delay occurs before gates open or during pre-game window:

• If fans have already entered the building and scanned their tickets, due to no re-entry, public address announcements will be made informing fans to seek safe shelter in the stadium.
• If fans have not scanned their ticket to enter the stadium, they will be encouraged to remain in their cars if they are near the stadium.
• As soon as a final timeline for gates opening and kickoff are determined, they will be relayed over social media and PA.
• No spectators will be allowed into the stadium during a pregame lightning delay if the ticket has not been scanned.
• The delay will continue for 30 minutes following the last lightning strike within the 8-mile radius of the stadium.
• If necessary, kick off will be delayed long enough to allow both teams and officials a sufficient on-field warm up period.

IN-GAME INCLEMENT WEATHER PROTOCOL:

• There may be times, especially in the case of severe weather and lightning in the area, where the evacuation of the seating bowl may be necessary.
• A Lightning Delay will be activated when a strike occurs within 8 miles of DRV PNK Stadium.
• In the event of inclement weather or lightning in the area, fans will be required to evacuate the seating bowl as quickly and calmy as possible, and find shelter underneath the grandstands.
• Lightning delays will last for a minimum 30 minutes following the last recorded lightning strike in the area.
• Fans will not be required to exit the stadium during a delay , however gates will be open if fans wish to leave the building.
• If fans choose to leave the stadium during a delay, or any other time during the match, re-entry will not be permitted.
• If during the 30 minute countdown, another strike is observed within 8 miles, the 30 minute clock restarts.
• Updates on status of the delay will be given over PA address and social media.
• Once a final restart time is confirmed for the match, this information will be relayed over PA Address.
• Following the delay, a warm-up period will take place for both teams on the field before the match resumes.
• Fans will be permitted back into the seating bowl at the time this warm-up period begins.

What is the Inter Miami CF Stadium Like?

The Exterior – Going back to 2019 the surroundings of the stadium was largely industrial but fast forward four years and you see palm tree lined roads with car parks surrounded by large areas of greenery including a well kept pitch. The Stadium itself is constructed with four separate stands with four wide open corners which you may think sounds odd, but it does actually work. There is a sleek black design with sharp finishes to each of the four stands. The Inter Miami CF Official Club Shop is located towards the South West corner of the stadium.

The Interior – The four separate stands all offer one tier of seating with those seats positioned tightly to the pitch, there is a sharp incline up towards the back row of seats. There is however a difference between the team stands behind each goal and the two stands that run alongside each touchline. The East and West stands have a black roof with lights on the front to make the stadium stand out when the game is being played after sunset whereas the North and South stands are open topped with both having large videos screens behind supported by a series of stilts. If you attend a game and you have a young baby then there are baby changing facilities located in the East and West stand restrooms. If you require a wheelchair then concourse level sections 112 and 121 on the East side and 105 and 128 on the West side are the only areas with accessibility for wheelchairs.

In total there are five different entry points to get inside the stadium with gate 1 being located on the Southeast Corner, gate 2 is located towards the Northeast which is primarily for home supporters, gate 3 you will find located towards the Northwest Corner then there is also the VIP entrance and the Media entrance.

There is a VIP section in the West stand which offers fantastic views over the halfway line. There is also a Heineken Bar which is located in the North Stand.

Bars and Eateries Nearby

There are plans for Inter Miami CF to build a brand new stadium which will be geared more towards fans having places to eat and drink nearby as well as inside the ground should they wish to do so. Despite that there is still plenty of different options on offer around the ground with the Heineken Bar being an option, which is the North stands main attraction. There is plenty of concessions around the ground with a total of 18 in addition to the VIP areas. The stand with the most concessions stands is the East stand.

immediately outside of the ground, it is unfortunately not best served in Miami but a 15 minutes walk north of the stadium up North West 10th Terrace you will find three well known brands, McDonald’s, Arby’s and Wendy’s, if you continue walking for a further five minutes on Cypress Creek Road you will find a Starbucks for your coffee fix as well as Phat Boyz BBQ Restaurant.

Head South of the stadium and you are looking at another 15 minute walk to find the nearest places to eat with Meat and Fish being located on 49th Street which is a highly rated Barbeque Restaurant. If you go to the cross roads of Powerline Road and Commercial Boulevard you will be a stones throw from McDonald’s, KFC, Waffle House and Dunkin’ along with lesser known Restaurants such as Major League Heros Sandwich Shop and the Crisp Eatery & Bar.

If it’s just a drink you are looking for then your best bet will be at the stadium with next to no out and out bars options located close to the ground. It’s important to note that alcohol stops being served inside the stadium from the 70th minute mark of the game.

What Is the Inter Miami CF Stadium Like for Away Fans?

Away fans will receive the same experience as the home fans but if you are an away fan and you are wanting to get access to the stadiums with items such as banners, flags and instruments then you will need to get them pre approved.

How Do You Get To The Inter Miami CF Stadium?

Public transport to and from the stadium is your best bet. You have the choice of jumping on either the Tri-Rail or bus. The nearest train station exit being Cypress Creek Station  is just over 1 mile away from the stadium, so not exactly a short walk after an thrilling 90 minutes of action. If you choose to go on the bus then you have two main choices. Route 14 will drop you on 9th Avenue with stops just 0.3 miles away whilst route 55, which runs along Commercial Boulevard will stop 0.2 miles to the south of the arena.

If you opt for driving then your best bet is one of the car parks that wrap around the east and south stands. Failing that, you’ll be looking to park away from the stadium and walking in.

Staying Over

For those of you who will be wanting to stay in a hotel before or after the game then you have the Holiday Inn Express on Commericial Boulevard and Fort Lauderdale Grand Hotel which is located on Powerline Road, both of these options are 3-star hotels and are just under half a mile away from the stadium. The Holiday Inn Express is the most expensive out of the two options, that comes in at around $130 per night with the Grand Hotel coming in at just over half the price at $60.

If you are wanting something a little more up-market then the Marriott North on North Andrews Avenue might be the hotel for you – the price for this is around $120.

It’s more than feasible that some fans – particularly tourists or away supporters – will want to spend a night near the ground to take the stress out of their visit to the Inter Miami CF Stadium. There are a few budget friendly options nearby; the Holiday Inn Express on Commercial Boulevard and Fort Lauderdale Grand Hotel located on Powerline Road are both 3-star venues located at a distance of 0.4 miles. The Holiday Inn does come in more expensive at $130 per night compared to $60, however, reviews from Booking.com do suggest it’s worth the extra money.

If a 3-star stay doesn’t cut it for you then there are 4-star options at a distance of circa 2miles in the shape of the Marriott North on North Andrews Avenue might fit the bill. It will set you back $120 per night.

If you are attending a game in a group of 10 or more people then you can purchase discounted tickets by calling (305) 428-0611. Mobile ticketing is the only way of gaining access to the stadium and away fans tickets are allocated in Section 123.

To purchase a season ticket you have to put down a deposit and then you will be placed on the waiting list and await contact for further information.

For a single ticket, the cheapest price you will be able to buy one for is $34 and the most expensive coming in at $245.

Inter Miami to Embark on First International Tour 

Inter Miami CF is heading overseas for its debut international tour next month.

For the first time since Messi’s arrival, the team will embark on a tour, kicking-off with a round of matches versus the Saudi Pro League’s Al-Hilal SFC and Al Nassr FC on January 29 and February 1, respectively, at the 26,000-seat Kingdom Arena. During the match against Al Nassr FC, Messi will face longtime rival Cristiano Ronaldo.

From there, Inter Miami will head to Hong Kong to take-on a team of players hand-picked as the best from the city’s second-tier soccer league at the 40,000-seat Hong Kong Stadium on February 4.

“We’re very excited to be visiting Hong Kong and indeed Asia for the very first time,” Jorge Mas, Inter Miami CF Managing Owner said in a statement. “From the very beginning we set out to be a global club at Inter Miami. This is a wonderful opportunity to do just that; we hope to enthuse and inspire new Inter Miami fans in Hong Kong and across Asia who share our passion for fútbol.”

While these are the only games announced at this time, the team plans to reveal more international matches soon. These also mark the first games overseas since Inter Miami’s two-game post-season tour in China was cancelled last month . The tour promoter pulled the plug due to “unforeseen circumstances in China” following the death of Chinese premier Li Keqiang.

Inter Miami’s fanbase — and subsequent ticket sales — have risen dramatically over the past season since Messi joined the team. Season ticket prices for next season jumped drastically, yet despite the price increase, the organization revealed that season tickets had sold out . The team is expected to break a revenue record for the 2024 season, surpassing $120 million.

How much will Messi play vs. Sporting Kansas City?

Inter Miami assistant coach Javi Morales said Friday that Messi will be available to play against Sporting KC. But it’s important to note: Messi could be limited in action. 

“Lionel Messi finished the match in Monterrey without any discomfort. I estimate that he will want to play,” Morales said during a Zoom press conference. 

Messi is coming off his first start in nearly a month and a 90-minute performance Wednesday in Mexico. Inter Miami was eliminated from the Concacaf Champions Cup , following a 3-1 loss and 5-2 aggregate score , to LIGA MX powerhouse Monterrey.

Messi appears fully healthy after a right hamstring injury kept him out of action from March 13 until his return last Saturday against Colorado .

“Apparently the injury is behind [him], that's the most important thing,” Inter Miami coach Tata Martino said of Messi’s health before the Monterrey game.

Inter Miami has 10 matches remaining until Copa America 2024, during which Messi is expected to captain Argentina perhaps for the final time in a major international tournament during his illustrious career.

So, Messi could be limited to maintain his health considering his Copa America commitments in June.

Messi and Mahomes could meet at Inter Miami, Sporting KC game

Messi and Mahomes are two of the greatest players in the history of their sports, and two of the best athletes playing in the United States. They could be in for a historic meeting together on Saturday night.

A Chiefs spokesman told USA TODAY Sports if Patrick Mahomes is in town, he will be there.

Messi is an eight-time Ballon d’Or winner as the sport’s best player, and captivated soccer fans worldwide by leading Argentina to the World Cup in Qatar in December 2022 after capping a standout career with Barcelona.

Messi has also taken an interest in the NFL since joining Inter Miami last summer.

Mahomes is the reigning, three-time Super Bowl MVP and star quarterback for the Chiefs. He’s the best and most entertaining quarterback in the NFL without argument, and chasing Tom Brady’s seven Super Bowl rings.

Mahomes is one of six principal owners of Sporting KC , and has already posted about Messi’s arrival on expired Instagram stories earlier this week.

Mahomes was also tuned in for Messi’s Inter Miami debut, which saw Messi score the game-winning goal in the final minute.

Why is Messi game so important for Kansas City?

The Kansas City Star says Messi’s arrival will be one of the great sporting moments in the city’s history.

Sporting KC made the wise decision to host the match at Arrowhead Stadium, which houses more than 70,000 fans, compared to the club’s Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kansas, which seats 21,500 fans.

It will be Sporting KC’s first game at Arrowhead since the club hosted English Premier League club Manchester United on July 25, 2010 in front of 52,342 fans, according to the KC Star.

“I’ve watched the guy play since he’s been very young. I don’t anybody, any team, any coach that has devised a game plan that’s nullified his unbelievable and unique qualities,” Vermes said of Messi. “You hope that on the day, he has a bad day. You hope if he gets a chance, he misses. That’s what you do.”

The Arrowhead has not hosted an MLS fixture in 17 years but has an extensive history as a soccer stadium . With the demand for tickets expected to exceed the capacity of the 18,000-seat Children’s Mercy Park, Sporting KC have opted to relocate to the Arrowhead for one weekend only.

What is the Arrowhead Stadium capacity?

The Chiefs’ home is one of the most intimidating venues in NFL and boasts an incredible world record. A September 2014 meeting between the Chiefs and the New England Patriots holds the world record for the loudest sports stadium after levels reached 142.2 decibels during the second quarter.

The Arrowhead is not the biggest NFL stadium, that honour falls to 100,000-capacity AT&T Stadium, but it is one of the most imposing. Up to 76,416 spectators can fit into the vast curving stands.

This weekend’s MLS duel between Sporting Kansas City and Inter Miami may not reach full capacity but it looks set to break the Arrowhead attendance record for a soccer match. A 2010 friendly between Kansas City and Manchester United drew a crowd of 52,424 , the largest soccer crowd at the iconic venue.

How much do tickets cost for Sporting Kansas City - Inter Miami at Arrowhead Stadium?

Arrowhead Stadium was the first home of MLS founding team Kansas City Wizards, who later become Sporting Kansas City. However in those early days of MLS fans at the Arrowhead were restricted to certain sections of the stadium to help build a better atmosphere. This time around there are no such limits in place and all 76,416 seats are available to purchase.

Tickets went on sale via Ticketmaster, with prices starting at $80 and some exceeding $500 , depending on the section. As of Friday morning there were still tickets left on the site but the cheapest available cost $112.

Most tickets have been sold and we’re expecting a bumper crowd for this weekend’s game. Lionel Messi is expected to be fit to start for Inter Miami and will be eager to get his side back to winning ways after a chastening midweek defeat. Sporting KC recorded a 3-3 draw against Portland Timbers last weekend but head coach Peter Vermes will have been frustrated to see his team squander a three-goal halftime lead.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - It’s the game thousands of soccer fans in the Kansas City area have waited months to see.

Soccer great Lionel Messi and Inter Miami CF will travel to the metro to play Sporting Kansas City . The game is such a big deal that it was moved to GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium to handle the larger crowd.

Read on for everything you need to know if you are one of the fans heading to the match.

Keep in mind, other team gear or colors are not permitted in the Supporters section. Fans will not be allowed into the Supporters section wearing any of these items.

Parking starts at $50 and must be purchased in advance online . Cash will not be accepted at the toll booth.

Fans are asked to arrive early and have the parking pass available to be scanned to avoid delays.

Tailgating is allowed before Saturday’s game. Fans are required to follow the same rules as they do when tailgating ahead of Kansas City Chiefs games.

• Parking spaces may not be used for tailgate equipment alone. Click here to view an example of approved tailgating.
• Maintaining an aisle that is clear of tailgate equipment in order to accommodate emergency vehicles is imperative for maintaining a safe environment. Your total tailgate (including guests) is limited to eight (8) feet behind each parking space.
• Access to the Truman Sports Complex is for ticketed event guests only and the club reserves the right to confirm that guests have tickets at any time.
• Guests may not remain in the parking lots or outside of the stadium during games or once the headliner has taken the stage.
• Offensive signs, banners or other displays, including the Confederate Flag are prohibited.
• Commercial tailgate set-ups are not permitted at the Truman Sports Complex.

The match is a mobile ticket-only event. All tickets can be viewed through the Chiefs mobile app or Ticketmaster app. Tickets for the match are not available through the Sporting KC app or the SeatGeek app, according to Sporting KC.

Fans are asked to add tickets and passes to a mobile wallet for easy access on Saturday. Sporting KC said a screenshot of your mobile ticket(s) will not allow you entry into the stadium.

Be prepared to go through stadium security screening.

Inter Miami fined by CONCACAF for lack of stadium security

MIAMI (AP) — Inter Miami was fined by CONCACAF’s disciplinary committee for lack of security at Chase Stadium during its Champions Cup quarterfinal match against Monterrey on April 3.

CONCACAF, the regional governing body for soccer in North and Central America and the Caribbean, cited unspecified incidents that occurred after Miami’s 2-1 loss. CONCACAF did not detail the amount of the fine in its announcement Wednesday.

The team led by Lionel Messi was eliminated 5-2 on aggregate following a 3-1 loss Wednesday night in Mexico.

“The committee has warned Inter Miami CF that more severe sanctions could be taken should incidents occur during their future matches in CONCACAF club competitions,” the governing body said.

Inter Miami dumped from Champions Cup by Monterrey, Lionel Messi booed: Takeaways

Lionel Messi ’s Inter Miami saw its dream of a continental trophy ended Wednesday night in Monterrey, Mexico in the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

Liga MX power Monterrey overwhelmed Miami, 3-1, leaving no doubt in the two-leg series that ended with a 5-2 aggregate scoreline.

Miami went into the night fighting an uphill battle. They gave up two goals in the late stages at home after falling down a man last week and thus had to overcome a deficit on the road.

A big mistake by goalkeeper Drake Callender trying to play it out of the back gifted Monterrey forward Brandon Vazquez a first-half goal. Monterrey broke the game open in the second half with goals from Germán Berterame in the 58th minute and Jesus Gallardo in the 64th.

Patrick Schulte leads Crew to CONCACAF semis

The result means MLS will have just one team in the semifinals of CONCACAF’s marquee tournament: the Columbus Crew , which defeated Tigres in penalties on Tuesday night. The winner of the Champions Cup will earn a berth in next summer’s FIFA Club World Cup.

Miami, despite starting its four star players — Messi, Luis Suárez , Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba — looked overmatched for much of the game by a Monterrey team fielding a lineup that was stronger top to bottom.

“I don’t want to make excuses, I don’t want to come here and say that’s why we’re out, but I think if you look at the two benches it gives you a pretty good idea of what it’s like,” said midfielder Julian Gressel . “I hope that the MLS will take the right steps to potentially in the future, be able to have a deeper roster so that you can compare a little bit more and you can kind of make a push for this competition more.”

The loss continued MLS’s historical struggles in the tournament. Just one MLS team has won the tournament, the Seattle Sounders in 2022, and this year marks the fourth time in the last six years that MLS has had just one semifinalist.

Now, Messi and Inter Miami’s likely only other chance to qualify for the Club World Cup next year is winning the 2024 MLS Cup. MLS will get one final bid as the host nation of the tournament, and while FIFA has not announced how that spot will be decided, winning the league’s championship is the most likely possibility.

Estadio BBVA rocked as Monterrey rolled

Estadio BBVA is one of North American soccer’s crown jewels, tucked into a valley in the Sierra Madre Oriental mountain range. The atmosphere at the place on Wednesday almost certainly contributed to Miami’s undoing, though they didn’t need much help. Monterrey’s fans were fully bought in the entire match and the noise was deafening.

In Mexico, Messi doesn’t enjoy the sort of universal adulation that he does elsewhere in the world; there were very few Messi jerseys in view and he was booed relentlessly throughout the match. Tata Martino, Miami’s head coach, got an even louder jeer when he was announced pre-game — Martino led Mexico to an early crash-out at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

By the final whistle, the crowd had honed in on a pair of chants: “Messi se la come” (Messi can eat it) was the first. The second was a little less creative: they just started chanting Cristiano Ronaldo ’s name over and over again. Simple but effective.

“It’s something we were prepared for, to be honest with you,” Miami midfielder Julian Gressel said after the match. “This was a beautiful atmosphere, great stadium, great fans, against a good team, and those are the nights you want to play. It’s an away game, you expect that.”

There’s simply nothing like this type of environment in MLS. This is why playing in Mexico has always been so difficult for MLS sides. The size of the Estadio BBVA is evident. Callender’s error put Miami on the back foot

Two straight days of MLS teams in Mexico needing a result to advance in the CONCACAF Champions Cup, two straight days of goalkeepers making big mistakes trying to play it out of the back that lead to goals and deficits.

On Tuesday night, it was Columbus goalkeeper Patrick Schulte . He redeemed himself with two saves in the penalty shootout to lead the Crew to a win.

On Wednesday night, it was Drake Callender.

The goal may have deflated Inter Miami in the first half, but it didn’t directly end their chances on the night. Trailing 2-1 going into the second leg, Inter Miami was going to need at least two goals if they wanted to win the home-and-home series.

But Callender’s blunder came just six minutes after Inter Miami’s best combination play in and around Monterrey’s box, with Messi sending a shot just over the crossbar. Inter needed some time to recover from the shock of the goal, though they had a couple of good looks at the end of the first half.

Berterame’s rocket put it out of reach

As the olé’s began to ring around the stadium, there was a feeling that Monterrey’s second goal was coming Inter Miami couldn’t keep possession of the ball and they were stretched in search of an equalizer.

All those factors played a part in Berterame’s thunderous strike in the 58th minute, which made the score 2-0 and all but officially put the game out of reach for Miami.

After a giveaway by Miami left back Noah Allen led to right back Chelo Weigandt getting caught upfield, the ball made its way to the burly Argentine center forward in plenty of space at the top of the Inter Miami penalty area. Berterame had struggled for most of the match to get a clean touch on the ball, but he made no mistake this time.

His goal was a glimpse of why the Portland Timbers pushing to sign him for a reported $15 million in January. Monterrey were the the clear winners of that could’ve-been situation. – Felipe Cardenas

A difference in squad construction

Inter Miami had four legends in its starting lineup, but Monterrey proved over two legs that it’s just a way better team, top-to-bottom. The Liga MX side was sharper and more unified in almost every respect whether playing home or away, easily breaking Miami’s press in the moments it happened and pouncing on chances when the back four opened up.

Inter Miami clearly had adjustments to make, but Martino chose to make zero subs for the duration of the game – which he said after the game was a function of a young bench full of inexperienced players.

“The teams that have advanced (in the Champions Cup) are the teams that have the best squads in Mexican football,” Martino said after the game. “I mentioned recently that until MLS relaxes its many (roster) rules in order to build more robust squads, where player absences, injuries, suspensions aren’t as difficult to overcome, evidently (Liga MX) will have an advantage.”

Messi gets start but Monterrey eliminates Miami from Champions Cup

MONTERREY, Mexico -- Lionel Messi 's return to the Inter Miami starting lineup was in vain as his team was eliminated from the Concacaf Champions Cup by Monterrey at BBVA Stadium on Wednesday night.

Miami came into the match trailing 2-1 from the first leg of the quarterfinal, and things only got worse in the second as Monterrey bottled up Messi and scored three goals to win the tie 5-2 on aggregate.

"The second goal, 15 minutes into the second half, completely eliminated us from the game. That's where the classification to the semifinal was over for us," Miami head coach Gerardo "Tata" Martino told reporters.

Brandon Vazquez opened the scoring for the home side in the first half in front of a sold-out crowd, and Germán Berterame and Jesús Gallardo added a classy goal each in the second to put the quarterfinal well out of reach.

A visibly frustrated Jordi Alba was sent off late in the second half after receiving two yellow cards for a pair of rash challenges, leaving Miami to finish the game with 10 players.

Diego Gomez headed in a consolation goal for Miami from a Messi free kick before full-time, but Monterrey was firmly in control of the game and held on to advance to the semifinals.

Monterrey will face the lone remaining MLS side in the CCC in the next round when it takes on the Columbus Crew, with the first leg scheduled for April 23.

"Here in the Concacaf Champions Cup, we have competed well. I'd say really well against Nashville, and really well in the first game against Monterrey and good today until Berterame's goal. That's when we lost the series," Martino said.

"Today's defeat takes away a hope we had, which was to be able to move forward in this competition. The comparison between MLS and Liga MX is useless."

Messi has been out of Miami's starting lineup since March 13 with a right thigh injury, although he did come on as a substitute and score a goal in the second half of a draw with the Colorado Rapids on Saturday.

Martino had teased the return of his star on Tuesday in the news conference ahead of the match by confirming Messi's fitness level, adding that the forward's injury was behind him.

The World Cup winner with Argentina left Miami's CCC round-of-16 match against Nashville early in the second half on March 13 with a right thigh injury that also kept him out of a pair of friendlies with the national team.

The MLS side bypassed the initial round of the Champions Cup by winning the inaugural edition of Leagues Cup in 2023, before beating Nashville in the round of 16 to advance to the quarterfinals.

Miami, which is third in MLS' Eastern Conference, next play a road game against Sporting Kansas City on Saturday.

Touring the Top 10 Moscow Metro Stations

Komsomolskaya metro station looks like a museum. It has vaulted ceilings and baroque decor.

Hidden underground, in the heart of Moscow, are historical and architectural treasures of Russia. These are Soviet-era creations – the metro stations of Moscow.

Our guide Maria introduced these elaborate metro stations as “the palaces for the people.” Built between 1937 and 1955, each station holds its own history and stories. Stalin had the idea of building beautiful underground spaces that the masses could enjoy. They would look like museums, art centers, concert halls, palaces and churches. Each would have a different theme. None would be alike.

The two-hour private tour was with a former Intourist tour guide named Maria. Maria lived in Moscow all her life and through the communist era of 60s to 90s. She has been a tour guide for more than 30 years. Being in her 60s, she moved rather quickly for her age. We traveled and crammed with Maria and other Muscovites on the metro to visit 10 different metro stations.

Moscow subways are very clean

To Maria, every street, metro and building told a story. I couldn’t keep up with her stories. I don’t remember most of what she said because I was just thrilled being in Moscow.   Added to that, she spilled out so many Russian words and names, which to one who can’t read Cyrillic, sounded so foreign and could be easily forgotten.

The metro tour was the first part of our all day tour of Moscow with Maria. Here are the stations we visited:

1. Komsomolskaya Metro Station  is the most beautiful of them all. Painted yellow and decorated with chandeliers, gold leaves and semi precious stones, the station looks like a stately museum. And possibly decorated like a palace. I saw Komsomolskaya first, before the rest of the stations upon arrival in Moscow by train from St. Petersburg.

2. Revolution Square Metro Station (Ploshchad Revolyutsii) has marble arches and 72 bronze sculptures designed by Alexey Dushkin. The marble arches are flanked by the bronze sculptures. If you look closely you will see passersby touching the bronze dog's nose. Legend has it that good luck comes to those who touch the dog's nose.

3. Arbatskaya Metro Station served as a shelter during the Soviet-era. It is one of the largest and the deepest metro stations in Moscow.

4. Biblioteka Imeni Lenina Metro Station was built in 1935 and named after the Russian State Library. It is located near the library and has a big mosaic portrait of Lenin and yellow ceramic tiles on the track walls.

5. Kievskaya Metro Station was one of the first to be completed in Moscow. Named after the capital city of Ukraine by Kiev-born, Nikita Khruschev, Stalin's successor.

6. Novoslobodskaya Metro Station  was built in 1952. It has 32 stained glass murals with brass borders.

7. Kurskaya Metro Station was one of the first few to be built in Moscow in 1938. It has ceiling panels and artwork showing Soviet leadership, Soviet lifestyle and political power. It has a dome with patriotic slogans decorated with red stars representing the Soviet's World War II Hall of Fame. Kurskaya Metro Station is a must-visit station in Moscow.

8. Mayakovskaya Metro Station built in 1938. It was named after Russian poet Vladmir Mayakovsky. This is one of the most beautiful metro stations in the world with 34 mosaics painted by Alexander Deyneka.

9. Belorusskaya Metro Station is named after the people of Belarus. In the picture below, there are statues of 3 members of the Partisan Resistance in Belarus during World War II. The statues were sculpted by Sergei Orlov, S. Rabinovich and I. Slonim.

An excellent read! Thanks for much for sharing the Russian metro system with us. We're heading to Moscow in April and exploring the metro stations were on our list and after reading your post, I'm even more excited to go visit them. Thanks again 🙂
