Dua Lipa Announces 2022 ‘Future Nostalgia’ Dates For Australia & New Zealand

Dua Lipa Future Nostalgia Dates Australia

Dua Lipa will be touring her 2020 album Future Nostalgia across Australia and New Zealand late next year.

Spread across November 2022, the singer will perform in Auckland, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. Support acts are yet to be confirmed. Tickets for the tour go on sale this Thursday (September 23) local time via Live Nation. Visit the artist’s official website for further information.

Earlier this month, Lipa announced a North American tour , kicking off in February with support acts including Megan Thee Stallion and Caroline Polachek. Her rescheduled UK and European dates will follow.

Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia was released in March last year. Typical of the critical responses was the NME’s review, which gave the album five stars, describing it as “a bright, bold collection of pop majesty to dance away your anxieties to… if only for a little while”.

“When she made this album, the musician couldn’t know just how awful a state the world would be upon it’s released. But that just makes her achieving her mission all the more important.”

Since releasing the album, Lipa has gone on to release an accompanying remix album with The Blessed Madonna and teamed up with Elton John for the track Cold Heart (Pnau Remix).

NME said of the record: “‘ Club Future Nostalgia is less of a remix album, and more of a lovingly crafted mixtape. In among reworking of songs from Future Nostalgia are snippets and samples from pop classics (including Neneh Cherry’s Buffalo Stance and Gwen Stefani’s Hollaback Girl) and house and soul records.

Dua Lipa plays the following Future Nostalgia tour dates in New Zealand and Australia in 2022:

Wednesday 2 November – Auckland, Spark Arena Saturday 5 November – Brisbane, Brisbane Entertainment Centre Tuesday 8 November – Sydney, Qudos Bank Arena Friday 11 November – Melbourne, Rod Laver Arena Monday 14 November – Adelaide, Adelaide Entertainment Centre Wednesday 16 November – Perth, RAC Arena

Dua Lipa will make her triumphant return to Australian shores in November of 2022.

Two-and-a-half years on from her last headline tour of the country, Dua Lipa has revealed she’ll be heading back to Australia in late 2022 for her long-awaited  Future Nostalgia tour.

Having last visited Australia in early 2020 for the Sydney Mardi Gras, a lot has changed for Dua Lipa in the time since. Releasing her second album,  Future Nostalgia , in March of 2020, the futuristic dance-pop record was a massive success, topping charts around the country and even taking home the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album and the Brit Award for British Album of the Year.

However, with a stunning album such as this released against the backdrop of a year on hold, it’s taken Dua Lipa far longer than first planned to properly give the record the live experience it so deserves. Now, with concerts ever-so-gradually returning, she’s set her sights on Australia, announcing a run of headline dates earlier today.

Set to take place in November of 2022, Dua Lipa will kick off her visit down under with an appearance in Auckland before crossing the Tasman for shows in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth across the coming weeks.

“I am beyond excited to be bringing my world tour to Australia, it’s been way too long, but I promise, we are going to have one heck of a party,” Dua Lipa explained in a statement offered to fans today.

Tickets to Dua Lipa’s upcoming Australian tour go on sale from 2pm local time on Thursday, September 23rd, with My Live Nation members able to grab tickets during an exclusive pre-sale that runs 24 hours from 1pm local time on Wednesday, September 22nd. Full details are available below.

The tour, set for November next year, will be Dua’s first live shows in Australia since Sydney Gay And Lesbian Mardi Gras in February 2020 – just moments before the world was shut down due to COVID-19. Dua walked the Parade and performed a set at the Party at Hordern Pavilion. Now, she’ll be bringing her entire live show across the country in support of ‘Future Nostalgia’.

“I am beyond excited to be bringing my world tour to Australia, it’s been way too long, but I promise, we are going to have one heck of a party,” Dua says.

‘Future Nostalgia’ features the hit singles ‘Don’t Start Now’ (7x Platinum), ‘Levitating’ (4x Platinum), ‘Break My Heart’ (3x Platinum), ‘Physical’ (2x Platinum), ‘We’re Good’ (Platinum), and ‘Hallucinate’ (Gold). The album itself is platinum too, and is still in the Top Ten of the ARIA Charts after 74 weeks.

Our main introduction to Dua Lipa was through her break-out hit, ‘New Rules’, in 2017: “The song that changed my life”, according to the pop star.

The disco-pop princess is performing her smallest, most exclusive concert from her entire Future Nostalgia global tour — right in Melbourne. By Hayley Peppin

dua lipa australia tour support act

MELBOURNE HAS CEMENTED itself as the music capital of Australia, if not the world, with their latest coup. An extremely intimate, theatre-hosted performance by none other than the disco-pop princess of this generation — Dua Lipa.

Lipa will headline Victoria’s latest music festival, ALWAYS LIVE — the brainchild of late local music legend Michael Gudinski .

Just 2,800 lucky Lipa fans will get the chance to see the ‘Levitating’ singer up close and personal in a world-first concert at the historic Palais Theatre. It’s the 26-year-old’s smallest, most exclusive concert — and only theatre performance — of her entire global Future Nostalgia Tour .

But Lipa’s not the only major music act performing at the incredibly diverse (and dazzling) two month music festival. Yes, it’s not your average 3-day event.

Here’s everything you need to know about the country’s biggest gig series, ALWAYS LIVE — including how to score those enviable Lipa tickets.

What is ALWAYS LIVE?

dua lipa australia tour support act

ALWAYS LIVE is a new, state-wide celebration of Australian and International music, running from October — December. It’s billed as the “biggest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere,” and one which is anticipated to make some “global noise.”

Performances will take place right across Victoria, from the beloved The Curtin Hotel in Carlton, to the banks of the Murray River in Wodonga — as it honours the state’s plethora of music venues with 150 events at more than 90 locations.

Supported by the Victorian Government, the not-for-profit gig series was founded by late Aussie music mogul Michael Gudinski. Gudinski reportedly first pitched the idea to Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews back in 2017.

“It’s exciting to see the program for ALWAYS LIVE bought to life, a new major event which reaffirms Victoria as the music state of Australia and Melbourne as one of the leading music cities of the world,” ALWAYS LIVE Chairman Matt Gudinski shared in a statement.

“ALWAYS LIVE was a dream my late father had to reassure our states’ live music roots and I am proud to be part of the team making it a reality. Featuring over 180 artists, 90 events and engaging 65 industry partners, Always Live is a key part of reinvigorating Victoria through the power of live music.”

“Whether it’s Billy Joel at the MCG, Dua Lipa at the Palais Theatre, Nick Cave at Hanging Rock or one of the many unique events which make up the program, Victoria is the place to be if you love live music.”

Who else is performing at ALWAYS LIVE?

dua lipa australia tour support act

The huge lineup includes a swathe of homegrown talent and globally-recognised names. Crowded House will perform at Gateway Lakes on the banks of the Murray River in Wodonga, as well as Aussie favourites Angus & Julia Stone and Boy & Bear.

Sampa the Great will debut her forthcoming album As Above, So Below at Melbourne’s Hamer Hall. Legendary music group Yothu Yindi will also put on a special show at the incredible orchestral Rapper Briggs, will be playing a “house party” event upstairs at the Curtin Hotel in Carlton with his music crew Bad Apples.

Meanwhile, Jessica Mauboy will take to the lush high country with an exclusive set for Bright.

Nick Cave will team up with Warren Ellis for their first Australian performance together — playing at the Victoria’s iconic Hanging Rock in the Macedon Ranges.

British singer, Sophie Ellis Bextor, best known for quite possibly the best party-starter song of all time ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’ will also take to the gardens of the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) for an intimate disco-fuelled show. Just 100 people will get to see Bextor like never before.

Did you catch Bruno Mars at Perth Arena?

Bruno mars, dua lipa at perth arena.

Headshot of Emily Moulton

FROM the moment he stepped out on stage at Perth Arena there was little, from the sold-out crowd’s perspective, that Bruno Mars could do wrong.

Having already been whipped into a frenzy by support act Dua Lipa, the audience was eager to see the Grammy Award-winner and welcomed him with raucous screams.

These screams were quickly rewarded with Mars launching into his current single, Finesse , which coincidently this week gave the Hawaiian born singer-songwriter his ninth Number 1 on the US Billboard Pop Songs airplay chart.

Throughout the evening, Mars, with his trademark swagger, served up a smorgasbord of hits from his last three albums belting out crowd favourites from Treasure , Locked Out Of Heaven and 24K Magic to Versace on the Floor , Marry Me , and Calling All My Lovelies .

Bruno Mars

But it wasn’t just that he played those crowd favourites that had the audience at Perth Arena dancing in the aisles. Mars, flanked by his band, the Hooligans, who also served, quite refreshingly, as his back up dancers, worked the crowd and threw in the odd local reference ( Calling All My Lovelies featured a fake phone call about taking a trip to Balga) as well as harmonised version of Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oi, Oi, Oi.

Even if you were not a huge Bruno Mars fan, you would have found it difficult to ignore the party vibe that seemed to encapsulate the first half of the show.

And if you were sitting on either side of the stage you would have found it difficult to ignore the pyrotechnics. Each time the fireworks went off in time with a beat, those sitting by the stage could feel the reverberations from the blasts. Not that it detracted from the spectacle, it was just odd.

While most of the show was high energy there were parts where it seemed to lag. An almost five minute piano solo seemed to slow the mood but this was quickly saved with Mars bursting back out on stage with Locked out of Heaven .

Mars finished up with mega hit Just the Way you Are and one-song encore of Uptown Funk .

And while most were at Perth Arena to see Mars, many were just as excited to hear support act Dua Lipa. The British pop sensation’s meteoric rise over this past year has arguably made her one of the hottest artists on the world stage right now.

As soon as the 22-year-old, who this year took home two Brit Awards, one for British Female Solo Artist and the other, British Breakthrough Act, launched onto the stage with her hit, Hotter Than Hell , the half empty Arena quickly filled.

While Lipa’s stage show lacked the theatrics of Mars, her raw, edgy soulful performance of singles such as Lost in Your Light , Blow Your Mind, the break-up anthem, IDGAF and the global hit, New Rules sh owed she is someone to watch over the next few years .

Bruno Mars and Dua Lipa will again play Perth Arena on Thursday, March 29.

How to get a better deal on concert tickets:

As we often preach here at Mozo, the number one rule to snagging a better deal is to always shop around and compare prices – this goes for buying concert tickets too!

It’s easy to get caught up in all the excitement and wind up overspending or getting tricked into buying phony tickets from scalper sites. To avoid these traps, make sure to shop with a reputable seller (like Ticketek or Ticketmaster) and do a quick price comparison to see what deals are available.

Credit card companies will often offer better deals or presale tickets to their customers – so always do your research before checking out.

Announcing the acts, Dua Lipa wrote: “Slowly making my way around the world and the girls with me: Griff, Tove Lo and Angèle. COME SEE US ON THE FUTURE NOSTALGIA TOUR.”

The singer has also added a number of shows to her European tour, tickets for which go on sale this Friday (November 19).

The singer was originally  set to hit the road in May 2020 , before the dates were  pushed back to January 2021  as the  coronavirus  hit last spring.

Last October, the dates were  rescheduled once again to September and October this year , but the shows were then postponed to spring of 2022.

Dua Lipa released her acclaimed second album  ‘Future Nostalgia’  in March 2020, while  an accompanying remix album with The Blessed Madonna  followed in August.

Since then, the singer was revealed as  the most-played UK artist of last year .

Meanwhile, ABBA recently suggested that they would be open to writing a UK Eurovision Song Contest entry for Dua Lipa.

It came after it was announced her management team were set to help select the UK’s entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 .

The UK finished last in this year’s contest, with James Newman failing to score a single point with his song ‘Embers’ .

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift is the leading individual nominee for the 2024 Kids’ Choice Awards , with six nods. She is followed on Nick’s slime-coated leaderboard by Beyoncé , Miley Cyrus , Olivia Rodrigo and Justin Timberlake , with four nods each.

Trending on Billboard

8 best moments from the 2023 kids’ choice awards: snubs surprises slime.

Swift’s nominations are for favorite female artist, favorite album ( The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology ), favorite global music star, favorite ticket of the year (Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour) and two nominations for favorite music collaboration (for “Fortnight,” featuring Post Malone, and the “Karma” remix with Ice Spice.)

Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, is nominated too, for favorite male sports star.

Barbie also scored heavily in the nominations, with eight total nods. The box-office juggernaut has four nods in film categories (favorite movie, favorite movie actor for Ryan Gosling and favorite movie actress for both Margot Robbie and America Ferrera) and four in music categories (favorite album, favorite song for both Dua Lipa’s “Dance the Night” and Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?” and favorite music collaboration for Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice’s “Barbie World” with Aqua).

Women have dominated the pop scene in recent years, so it is fitting that they dominate the nominations in such gender-neutral categories as favorite album, favorite song, favorite ticket (tour) of the year and favorite global music star.

The competition is fierce for favorite female artist. Five of the eight nominees are past category champs – Grande (a five-time winner), Selena Gomez (a four-time winner), Cyrus and Swift (both two-time winners), Beyoncé (a one-time winner) – and three artists looking for their first wins in the category: Eilish, Cardi B and Rodrigo.

Timberlake received three music nominations – favorite male artist (a category he won in 2007 and 2014), favorite song for “Selfish” and, with *NSYNC, favorite music group (a category the boy band won in 1999). On the film side, he is nominated for favorite male voice from an animated movie for Trolls Band Together.

Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2024  will be simulcast live on the East Coast on Saturday, July 13, at 8 p.m. ET/PT across Nickelodeon, TeenNick, Nicktoons, the Nick Jr. channel, TV Land, CMT and MTV2.   The show will be hosted by SpongeBob SquarePants (voiced by Tom Kenny) and Patrick Star (voiced by Bill Fagerbakke). This marks the first time that the show has been hosted by virtual characters.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of SpongeBob SquarePants , which first aired on Nickelodeon as a sneak peek after the Kids’ Choice Awards on May 1, 1999, and officially premiered on July 17 of that year. The 2024 Kids’ Choice Awards will re-create the undersea home of Bikini Bottom, the setting of SpongeBob SquarePants .

The Kids’ Choice Awards, complete with green slime and Nick’s signature orange blimp award, has long been a top attraction for young viewers. (O.G. fans of the show who were, say, 8 when the show debuted in 1987 are now 45. Time marches on, even when you’re being slimed.)

Beginning today, fans in the U.S. can cast their votes across 33 categories on the official Kids’ Choice Awards website, KidsChoiceAwards.com . International markets will also open voting today, including additional regional categories.

Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2024 is produced by Nickelodeon Productions and overseen by: Ashley Kaplan, executive vice president, Nickelodeon & Awesomeness Unscripted & Digital Franchise Studio; Paul J Medford, vice president, unscripted current series; Luke Wahl, vice president, unscripted creative; Jennifer Bryson, vice president, production, tentpoles, events & music & specials; and Ellen Rydzewski, senior vice president, celebrity, events & talent relations. Guy Carrington & Kevin Hermanson of Done and Dusted serve as executive producers, with Rob Paine serving as co-executive producer. The show is directed by James Merryman.

Here’s the complete list of nominations for the 2024 Kids’ Choice Awards.

The tour announcement comes on the heels of Dua releasing her third album, Radical Optimism, which went straight to No. 1 in 11 countries, including the UK where it became the biggest album debut from a UK artist in 2024 and garnered the highest week one sales from a UK female artist since 2021. In the US, the album debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart and No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart, marking Dua’s biggest sales week yet. It was named a Critic’s Pick by The New York Times, who hailed it is “an album of nonstop ear candy,” along with Variety, who declared it is “a joyous blast of pop savvy.” Additionally, The New Yorker praised, “the instrumentation is a gleaming and impenetrable expanse, and the main attraction is Lipa,” and Vogue raved it is “a summery, self-assured slice of pop brilliance…[and] catchy as hell.”

Tickets for the Asia dates on the Radical Optimism Tour will be available starting with the American Express® presale in select markets. On-sale start dates and times vary by market so please stay up to date by visiting  www.dualipa.com .

Dua previously announced the first run of tour dates in support of Radical Optimism with shows in Berlin, Pula, and Nimes taking place in June, which sold out immediately. In addition, Dua will make her Pyramid Stage debut as the Friday night headliner at this year’s Glastonbury Festival on June 28th and will play a show at London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall on October 17th, the latter of which also sold out immediately.

About Dua Lipa

3x GRAMMY and 7x BRIT Award-winning global pop powerhouse Dua Lipa continues to be one of pop music’s leading forces with the release of her third album, Radical Optimism. Upon release, the album went straight to No. The New York Times named it a Critic’s Pick and hailed it as “an album of nonstop ear candy,” along with Variety, who declared it “a joyous blast of pop savvy,” The New Yorker, who praised, “the instrumentation is a gleaming and impenetrable expanse, and the main attraction is Lipa,” and Vogue, who raved it is “a summery, self-assured slice of pop brilliance…[and] catchy as hell.”

Following its release in 2020, Dua's certified platinum sophomore album Future Nostalgia became the longest running top 10 album by a female artist on the Billboard 200 in 2021. The GRAMMY Award-winning album spawned multiple worldwide hit singles, with “Levitating” earning certified diamond status and the title of Billboard’s No. 1 Hot 100 Song of 2021.

Dua has found superstar status on stage and off, thanks to her many passions outside of music. 2022 saw Dua launch Service95, a global style, culture and society editorial platform that now comprises a weekly newsletter, the Service95 book club and the Dua Lipa: At Your Service podcast, which has been lauded by The Sunday Times and The Guardian and was named one of the Best Podcasts of 2022 by Spotify. Having graced every major fashion magazine worldwide from Vogue and Elle to W and Dazed, Dua added "designer" to her resume in 2023 when she co-designed Versace's "La Vacanza" collection alongside Donatella Versace herself, which Vogue deemed "the hottest collaboration of the summer."

Dua’s eponymous 2017 debut album is certified platinum, spawned six platinum tracks, and made her the first female artist in BRIT Awards history to pick up five nominations in a single year. Dua has a total of 10 GRAMMY nominations, with three wins for Best Pop Vocal Album, Best New Artist and Best Dance Recording. Additionally, she earned nominations at the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards for her hit song “Dance The Night” from the box office sensation Barbie. Across platforms globally, she has amassed over 42 billion streams and holds the record for being the first female artist to have two albums with over 10 billion streams each on Spotify.
