Escape the hustle and bustle of city life and ride along the incredibly beautiful mountain roads that twist and turn through the stunning forested highlands surrounding the city, riding pillion on your stylish Vespa. You start off at the iconic Tha Phae Gate and leave the city behind and pass by a whole sale fruit market where you will pick some local fruits for the ride. The ride is the star of the show as you take in vast agricultural landscapes and mountain vistas of this stunning part of northern Thailand. After having a stop at a farm house to understand more about agricultural production of Thailand, you are then fortunate to visit a peaceful elephant sanctuary in the forest and meet a community of retired elephants. A truly once in a lifetime experience as you interact with these happy and well cared for majestic creatures in a natural environment and witness the personal bond with their caretakers. You will enjoy a tasty Thai lunch in beautifully picturesque lush tropical flower gardens, a project run by The Royal Project to help support the ethnic minorities of Thailand. Experience the culture of the countryside as you continue your quest for adventure along this magnificent road, taking in amazing views as you ride toward a famous hilltop temple. There is a beautifully serene Buddha statue that overlooks this stunning area and you can also enjoy these incredible panoramic city and mountain views.

Chiang mai, my countryside adventures by vespa.

After the chaos of Bangkok, my partner and I arrived in Chiang Mai tired and longing for a bit of nature. I asked the receptionist at my guesthouse for recommendations and he showed me the Vespa Adventures’ brochure. The tours all looked great but the Chiang Mai Countryside tour was the one that really caught my eye! I got online immediately and booked for the following day. 

Looking back on our two-week Thailand holiday, the Vespa Adventures tour was definitely the highlight! Here’s why you’ll want to also book this amazing Chiang Mai Vespa tour.

• The route- we saw SO much that I never would have found on my own. After we left Thapae Gate at the start of the Vespa tour, we were away from other tourists and in beautiful nature. I loved the views from the drive as much as the stops themselves!

• The guide – I felt like I was traveling with a friend! Bhurm really loves his job and it shows- he shared so much interesting information about local culture, traditions and lifestyle but also was fun to chit-chat with about other topics. 
• The Vespas – Doing this tour by Vespas , you have a totally different experience. Instead of just seeing places through a car window, we could use all of our senses. We heard cows mooing and temple bells ringing, could smell the odors of someone cooking as we drove by their house and could feel the changing temperatures as we moved up into the hills. Plus we could easily pull over and stop whenever we wanted to take a photo. And since someone else was driving, I could take a lot of photos while we were moving through the countryside! 
• The food – Thai food is amazing and on Vespa’s Chiang Mai Countryside Tour, we got to taste different snacks and have a delicious lunch. I didn’t realize when I booked the tour that so much was included but I’m glad I only had a light breakfast that day as I enjoyed trying all of the food on tour!

This evening will kick off at 6pm as you are met at your hotel by your guide and driver. Our evening begins with a warm welcome and a complimentary drink, accompanied by delicious treats, as we soak up the relaxed atmosphere of the local community. Next, our adventure sees us hop on our Vespa scooters and embark on a journey of discovery through the city’s diverse neighbourhoods. We are treated to a tantalising taste of Thailand as we dine and socialise with the locals, from sampling exotic snacks and produce at a vibrant evening market to dining in style at a traditional riverside venue. Our evening adventure on the Vespas continues as we cross the city’s famed Iron Bridge and navigate the city streets, taking in the sights and sounds of Chiang Mai as we go. We eventually arrive at our final destination, a live music bar that showcases local talent and is a hub for some of Chiang Mai’s best musicians. We’ll immerse ourselves in the enthusiastic crowd as we’re entertained by these talented performers, adding to the truly authentic Thai-style night out experience.

Throughout the evening, we will have the opportunity to absorb the city’s rich culture and relish the unique flavours of Thai cuisine, all while socialising with the friendly locals. Whether you are a foodie, a music lover or simply seeking an authentic cultural experience, this is the perfect way to end a day. Finishing at around 10pm, you will be returned to your hotel having enjoyed a thrilling Thai-style night out.

Transfers are only offered for hotels located inside the municipal boundaries of Chiang Mai.

The experience is restricted for guests weighing more than 110kg, taller than 195cm.
