Lil Wayne rewrote the entire game in his image. The five-time GRAMMY® Award-winning multi-platinum rap icon, Young Money Entertainment founder, acclaimed author, pro skater, philanthropist, and history-making superstar continues to leave an indelible tattoo on the culture. He has cemented his legacy forever as “one of the best-selling artists of all time,” tallying sales in excess of 100 million records worldwide with 25 million albums and 90 million digital tracks sold in the United States alone. In 2022, Wayne earned his first Diamond certification from the RIAA with his generational smash hit “Lollipop” feat. Static Major. Not to mention, he has garnered 26 BET Awards, 4 Billboard Music Awards, 7 MTV Awards, 4 Soul Train Awards and 8 BMI Awards. Among many milestones, he emerged as “the first artist to surpass Elvis Presley with the most entries on the Billboard Hot 100” and has logged a staggering 183 entries – the 3 rd most of all time.
With a discography highlighted by five career spanning #1 debuts beginning with 2008’s 8x platinum, 3x GRAMMY® Award-winning opus Tha Carter III and its 6x platinum, 2011 successor Tha Carter IV, he released the latest version of the series - Tha Carter V - in 2018. Not only did it clinch #1 on the Billboard 200, but it also achieved “the second-largest streaming week for an album in history.” Every song on the tracklisting charted on the Billboard Hot 100 as he became “the first artist to debut two songs in the top 5.” It all bulldozed the way for his thirteenth full-length, Funeral, a year later. Simultaneously, Wayne owns and operates Young Money Entertainment as C.E.O. The company ignited the careers of two of the most successful artists ever—Drake. Nicki Minaj and 14 RIAA- certified platinum recording artist, Tyga. Additionally, Wayne is the co-founder of Young Money APAA Sports; the full-service agency currently represents over 40 athletes and has negotiated over $1 Billion in contracts to date. The committed philanthropist founded The One Family Foundation - a charitable group focused on helping underserved youth.

Lil Wayne to visit Madison in April
Arguably most famous throughout Madison for his feature on T-Pain’s song “Can’t Believe It,” where “mansion” is rhymed with “Wisconsin,” rapper Lil Wayne will visit The Sylvee this spring.
The rap superstar’s overdue performance in Madtown will take place April 8. The Sylvee is likely the only venue space that will be big enough to hold this crowd. Tickets go on sale this Friday, Feb. 3 starting at 10 a.m.
The “Welcome to Tha Carter Tour” follows the announcement of “Carter VI” in August of 2022 . Not much has been heard from Lil Wayne and his much anticipated sixth studio album until this most recent touring announcement. Pre-sale tickets for “Welcome To Tha Carter Tour” are now available , but general tickets go on sale this Friday.
UW Cinematheque showcases award-winning Polish film ‘EO’
Lil Wayne is a five-time GRAMMY® Award-winning , multi-platinum rap icon, with the tour announcement coming ahead of The Recording Academy’s Black Music Collective pre-GRAMMY event. At the event, Lil Wayne will receive the prestigious Global Impact Award for his iconic personal and professional achievements in the industry.
Senior at UW and avid Lil Wayne fan Vaishu Gundamraj was shocked to find out about the Madison tour location. When discussing the possibility of actually getting a ticket she expressed concern about getting a ticket on time.
“How did we not know he was touring and when am I suppose to buy tickets?” She said. “I would have signed up for the presale had I known!”
Tony-Award-winning musical ‘Hadestown’ at Overture this week
Given how quickly the JID and Smino show sold out, it is expected that this show will sell out even quicker. Many University of Wisconsin-Madison students are excited for this show, as it is not that often that big names like Lil Wayne make tour stops in Madison.
The Sylvee is owned by Frank Productions , which is operated by none other than Live Nation Entertainment. Live Nation Entertainment sells their tickets via Ticketmaster, after Live Nation and Ticketmaster merged in 2010 to form Live Nation Entertainment.
In a time of high contention with Ticketmaster after the Taylor Swift fiasco, some wonder if the Lil Wayne concert will draw as much traffic. Probably not, but a similarly sized crowd can be expected for the concert considering he has not gone on tour si nce 2019 when he joined Blink-182’s Enema of the State 20th anniversary tour as a co-headliner.
Don’t miss out on this highly revered upcoming concert in Madison!

Not to mention, he has garnered 26 BET Awards, 4 Billboard Music Awards, 7 MTV Awards, 4 Soul Train Awards and 8 BMI Awards. Among many milestones, he emerged as “the first artist to surpass Elvis Presley with the most entries on the Billboard Hot 100” and has logged a staggering 183 entries – the 3rd most of all time.
With a discography highlighted by five career spanning #1 debuts beginning with 2008’s 8x platinum, 3x GRAMMY® Award-winning opus Tha Carter III and its 6x platinum, 2011 successor Tha Carter IV, he released the latest version of the series – Tha Carter V – in 2018. The committed philanthropist founded The One Family Foundation – a charitable group focused on helping underserved youth.

It was an awesome ass concert. Lil wayne was amazing! I would definitely go again to see him perform. The opening act was really really good and I stayed for parts of blink 182 but lil wayne definitely killed it last night
Waited over 3 hours never saw Wayne so we finally just left. Very disappointed. Concert held in a very shady area. Seating was very uncomfortable. This experience most definitely has made my mind up about concerts. This will be the last one.
