Belinda Carlisle Postpones Australian Tour

by Paul Cashmere on November 9, 2023

Belinda Carlisle has postponed her Australian tour again to have emergency surgery.

In a statement Belinda said, “This is a video I did not want to make. As you know I was meant to be going to Australia next week for a tour that has been postponed three times. I had an accident and I damaged my knee and I have to have emergency surgery tomorrow. This is going to prevent me from coming to Australia this time. I’m really embarrassed. I hope it will be rescheduled for 2024 if you’ll have me. I wasn’t expecting this at all. It is just bad luck”.

Belinda’s new dates will be September and October 2024.

Belinda had an Australian tour planned and was also due to play on One Electric Day with Icehouse, Jon Stevens, Daryl Braithwaite, Mark Seymour and Boom Crash Opera on November 19 at Werribee Park near Melbourne.

A replacement for Belinda on One Electric Day will be announced soon.

Hello All, By now all of you will have heard that I have to reschedule my #Australia Decades tour back to September/October 2024. Again I am so sorry for this last minute enforced change of plan and I really look forward to seeing your smiling faces next year. Sending love

In an ever-changing landscape of shifting musical trends, few artists stand the test of time. Belinda Carlisle is one of those rare talents who continues to remain relevant after nearly four decades in the business. Amidst changing tastes, the gifted and glamorous singer-songwriter has indelibly touched the hearts of pop fans around the world with her unique blend of gutsy vocals, emotively charged melodies and picturesque lyrics.

With a multi-dimensional, internationally acclaimed recording catalog and countless tours showcasing her chameleonic musical prowess, the woman who began her career as co-founder and lead vocalist of groundbreaking all-female new wave/rock band The Go-Go's has amassed worldwide sales in excess of 15 million albums and singles.

The Go-Go's played a pivotal role in setting the tone of 1980s pop with their self-penned, multi-platinum debut album, Beauty and the Beat. Buoyed by Carlisle's unmistakably emotive and edgy phrasing, the international top-10 singles "Our Lips Are Sealed" and "We Got the Beat" became enduring anthems for independent women from ages eight to 80 while redefining traditionally restrictive notions of so-called "girl groups."

As a solo artist, Belinda has more than twenty top-charting global singles from five Carlisle albums reaching gold, platinum and multi-platinum sales marks.

Aside from actively engaging in work for non-profit organizations such as PETA and Greenpeace, Belinda is co-founder of the India-based Animal People Alliance, which helps both street animals in distress and impoverished women through fundraising and education.

A message from Belinda: I am incredibly disappointed to announce that I have to postpone my upcoming Australian tour, again! I was so looking forward to finally being able to play these shows for you, especially after having had to reschedule them before because of covid, I’m devastated not to be able to come. What happens now? Your tickets will be valid for Saturday 5 October 2024.  You don’t need to do anything, just hold on to your tickets. If you require a refund, please follow the steps here . It is imperative that you follow the instructions to ensure your request is actioned correctly. Refund requests must be submitted prior to 5pm on Friday 8 December 2023.

BELINDA CARLISLE ‘Decades’ Australian Tour 2022

Postponed to march 2023, a statement from belinda’s management company, it is with great regret that we must announce the postponement of belinda’s australian ‘decades’ tour, which was originally scheduled for february 2022 . the dates have been moved to march 2023., this was by no means an easy decision to make, not least because of all the work that has already gone into organising this tour, but we feel that the circumstances surrounding the resumption of full-scale, weeks long international touring are still too uncertain for us to be able go ahead in a safe, responsible manner. the outlook will of course change over time and hindsight may prove us unduly cautious, but belinda has many freelance professionals working for her and it would not be fair either to them or to you the ticket holders to make such a momentous decision at the very last moment. add to this the fact that omicron is still very much on the rise and that we are still unable to insure her shows against covid related cancellation and we really felt we had no other option., we understand that some people may disagree with this decision however we always try to work in a pro-active manner and felt it better to make the call now rather than wait until the end of this month and then perhaps be forced to do so., belinda is of course extremely disappointed with this decision. she has not toured at all for two years now and very much misses being on stage but she also wants to keep everyone safe, so she has reluctantly accepted our advice on this occasion. she sends you all her deepest apologies for this change of plan and hopes everyone stays well., tickets will remain valid for her rescheduled shows so where possible we would ask you to please keep hold of them for the future date. if you cannot attend the new date and wish to ask for a refund instead, please contact your point of purchase., lastly, it has sadly proved impossible to reschedule the date in bendigo , so the show there will unfortunately have to be cancelled completely. please contact your point of purchase for a refund., please find details of the rescheduled dates below: , city, venue/ new date in 2023/ original date in 2022, adelaide, the gov/ tuesday, march 7th/ wednesday, february 9th, melbourne, the palais/ friday, march 10th/ friday, february 11th, melbourne, the crown/ saturday, march 11th/ saturday, february 12th, canberra, southern cross/ tuesday. march 14th/ wednesday, february 16th, sydney, enmore theatre/ wednesday, march 15th/ saturday, february 19th, thirroul , anita’s theatre/ friday, march 17th/ tuesday, february 22nd, sydney, coliseum/ saturday, march 18th/ friday, february 18th, newcastle, civic theatre/ tuesday, march 21st/ wednesday, february 23rd, coff’s harbour, cex/ wednesday, march 22nd/ new date, tweed heads, twin towns/ friday, march 24th/ friday, february 25th, brisbane, the tivoli/ saturday, march 25th/ saturday, february 26th, follow belinda carlisle facebook – instagram spotify –   youtube, amnplify – db.

Belinda Carlisle has shared the five albums she can’t live without in a new interview, selecting records from artists like Depeche  Mode and The Clash .

The pop icon released her latest EP, Kismet , on Friday (May 12), which she worked on with legendary songwriter Diane Warren.

Speaking to Spin for the publication’s Five Albums I Can’t Live Without feature, Carlisle explained the record had come about after her son ran into Warren in a coffee shop in LA. “She said, ‘What’s your mom doing? Let’s call her,’” the artist recalled, sharing that her collaborator had invited her to the studio.

“I didn’t say it to her, but I was just thinking, ‘Do I really, really want to open this door because it’s a big commitment out of my life.’ It’s a year and a half or two years. I just had to really think about it. Then I went to the studio, and I was like, ‘Are you kidding me? You’re giving me these songs? They’re amazing.’ It [would’ve been] stupid for me to say no because it was like a gift from the universe.”

Carlisle went on to choose the five albums that she couldn’t live without. Among her choices was Violator by Depeche Mode, which she called “one of my favorite albums ever.” “Every song is just amazing, and I love the production,” she added. “I love the melodies. I love how danceable it is. When that album came out, I was just totally obsessed, and it’s one of my go-to albums always, and it has been for years and years.”

She also selected Roxy Music ’s Country Life (“the weirdest album”), The Beach Boys ’ Pet Sounds – which was the first album she owned – and Maria Callas’ La Divina , which she described as “my introduction into opera.”

Rounding out her five choices was The Clash’s self-titled album. “They were probably my favorite punk band because it was driving rock, punk rock, but also very melodic, and I loved the lyrics,” she said. “They were of a time; they were angry, political. It really captured a moment, that moment in the late 70s in the UK, which was a lot of stuff going on politically and economically. It inspired me to go to London for the very first time in 1977.”
