Everything You Need To Know for Taylor Swift’s Tampa Shows

Last-minute tickets, parking, setlist, venue information and more... are you ready for it.

Welcome to Swiftsborough , Taylor Swift!

Taylor Swift needs no introduction. Few artists get to say that Hillsborough County was renamed for a few days in their honor, or that the mayor of the city invited them to be mayor for a day and offered them a key to the city .

On her first stadium tour in almost five years, Swift is gearing up to bring The Eras Tour , a journey through the musical eras of her career (past and present) to Tampa next week.

Her three Tampa Eras Tour dates on April 13, 14 and 15 are the only stops in Florida and will be drawing tens of thousands fans from across the state and all over the world. It’s been a long time since Swift graced the stages at St. Pete Pier and the Plant City Strawberry Festival .

Search ‘Taylor Swift Eras Tampa’ on Tik Tok and you’ll find videos with over 34.5 million views documenting outfit ideas from fans, unofficial fan meetups, approved bag sizes for the venue, and stories from fans getting ready to fly in from other Canada, Brazil and London.

From places to find last-minute tickets and parking instructions to venue rules and things to know for fans, here are the answers to the internet’s top questions.

Update: Heavy traffic expected.

The Tampa Sports Authority has reported that everyone, not just Swifties, should expect heavy traffic in Tampa, especially around Raymond James Stadium, April 13 through 16.

Tom McEwen Blvd. (Tampa Bay Blvd.) will be closed between Dale Mabry Highway and Himes Avenue starting on noon April 13 until 8 a.m. April 16.

Traffic on the evenings of shows will be heavy on the following roads: Dale Mabry, Himes, Columbus and Martin Luther King Jr.

The Sports Authority advises that those not attending the concert are advised to travel alternate routes around the area of Raymond James Stadium.

How do I find tickets to Taylor Swift’s Tampa shows?

StubHub is the tour’s official ticket reseller. Tickets are available in slim pickings for all three tour dates. As of writing this, the site notes that 14,799 people have viewed Taylor Swift events in the past hour. The cheapest seats at the venue are going for $495 a pop.

Desperate Swifties may also have luck on social media, where fans have been using Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and TikTok, but be careful, scammers abound.

Try to win tickets:

Capital One is hosting a ticket giveaway at its Tampa Hyde Park Village Café location beginning Tuesday, April 4 and running until Friday, April 7. Two pairs of tickets will be given away to each show, and the sweepstakes, like all Capital One Cafés, is open to everyone.

To enter, people must visit the Hyde Park Village Café location and scan a QR Code on their smartphones from printed café signage. Two (2) winners will be selected at random for each show and notified by email. A pair (2) of tickets will be digitally transferred to each winner. Good luck!

Where do I park for Taylor Swift’s shows at Raymond James Stadium?

Three or four hours of traffic are expected leading up to the show, especially on Dale Mabry Highway. Spots in the lot are nearly sold out. Fans can check for available spots through parkjockey.com ,  SpotHero  and  seatgeek.com .

The Ray Jay stadium lots open at 3 p.m. and fans will be tailgating and trading friendship bracelets beforehand, but local officials are asking fans not to arrive earlier than opening time and clog traffic flow.

It’s a gamble, but some fans may bring cash and try to get a spot with willing neighbors in the surrounding neighborhoods.

HART bus routes 7, 15, 32, 36 and 45 service the stadium. Bus stops on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Himes Avenue will stop about 15-20 minutes walking distance from the venue.

Uber and Lyft are also options for getting there and avoiding parking problems. But, fans in other cities have reported two to three hour waits after each show for pickup, along with hefty prices. We recommend having a family member or friend pick you up nearby. The George M. Steinbrenner lot across the street can be accessed via a pedestrian bridge.

Taylor Swift Brings The Eras Tour To Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida April 13, 2023

  • April 15, 2023
  • Central Florida Concert Reviews , International Concert Reviews
  • by Mark Horan Publisher/Photographer

The day finally arrived for Taylor Swift ‘s first night of three nights at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. Knowing that tens of thousands of Swifties would be descending on the bay area, I knew to leave home a bit early. In normal circumstances, the drive is under an hour and a half. So I left four hours before show time. It wasn’t enough, as traffic started backing up 50 miles from the stadium and was stop and go almost the entire way killing the two and a half hour cushion I had allotted for. I arrived, parked, and got my credentials just as the opening act Gayle, was taking the stage. Needless to say, I missed photographing Gayle.

At the stadium, the mood and atmosphere was just bedlam with roads closed off for the protection of the 65,000 to 70,000 fans that were making their way into the stadium. This caused traffic backups and confusion. The Eras Tour sold over 2.4 million tickets on the day that they went on sale, breaking the all time record for most tickets sold by an artist in one day, and also crashing the Ticketmaster website. The chairman of Live Nation , Greg Maffei, claimed they were ready for 1.5 million requests, but 14 million requests for tickets came in, “We could have filled 900 stadiums.”

The Eras Tour’s setlist is divided into 10 acts grouped by eras of Swift’s 10 studio albums. This show was indeed a Broadway production and entertainment at the highest level. Fans came from all over the state as these three shows are the only stops in Florida. The tour has two stages, and while Taylor Swift is performing on one, the other is being erected in the next city of the tour stop.

Gayle , or Taylor Gayle Rutherfurd is out promoting her latest single, “Everybody Hates Me.” After she is done performing on The Eras Tour, she will be performing with Pink on her Summer Carnival tour starting on June 7. 2023. Gayle started her career at age seven, she is currently 18 years old. In 2021 she released her first album, A Study of the Human Experience Volume One. The hit single off that album “ABCDEFU” was nominated for a Grammy and charted in the top three worldwide.

I missed her performance, which I was sad because I have heard she has great energy, but I do have the setlist!

1.) Everybody hates me

2.) Sleeping with my friends

4.) Don’t call me pretty

5.) You Oughta Know  (Alanis Morissette cover)

6.) Luv starved

7.) Snow angels

8.) Abcdefu

Beabadoobee pronounced ( / b iː b ə ˈ d uː b iː / ; bee-bə-DOO-bee ) is also known as Beatrice Kristi Ilejay Laus.  She grew up in West London, UK. To date she has released two albums, Fake It Flowers , released October 16, 2020 and Beatopia which was released July 15, 2022. Both albums were extremely successful in the UK & Scotland on the indie charts. Beabadoobee’s debut single, “Coffee,” released in 2017, didn’t gain a lot of traction. Then it was used on Canadian rapper Powfu ‘s 2019 single, “Death Bed (Coffee for Your Head),” and it went viral on TicTok, and it ended up being her first charting single in 2020.

This young lady is loaded with talent and her set was entertaining. Her four piece band was a bit spread out on the large stage and the musicians never seemed to move a whole lot. Especially the bass player that obstructed the view of the drummer by standing in front of him. I believe in a smaller setting the show would have been great! I just feel this young band was on a huge stage and they were set all the back from the audience. Every band member was smiling which indicates the were having a good time, but you have to think it might have been a bit overwhelming for these musicians. I ask you, wouldn’t you be a bit intimidated opening for the largest pop star on the planet?

Beabadoobee – Guitar/Vocals

Eliana Sewell – Bass

Louis Semlekan-Faith – Drums

Jacob Bugden – Guitar

Beabadoobee

2.) Apple Cider

3.) She Plays Bass

4.) See You Soon

5.) The Perfect Pair

6.) Glue Song

8.) Cologne

Looking around the 65,000+  crowd before Taylor Swift started her show, I was taking note of the diversity in age of the audience. Ages from 5 to 65 were in attendance for this epic concert for the world’s #1 pop star. Taylor Swift has been the music communities sweetheart since she broke on the country scene at 14 years old. Her 2006 self-titled debut release gave her the first female country artist a U.S. platinum-certified album. Since that time Taylor Swift has won 12 Grammys, which includes three for Album of the Year, which also ties her for the most by an artist. Taylor has had nine number one Billboard Hot 100 hits,  29 Billboard Music Awards which are the most won by a woman, and her 40 American Music Awards are most by any artist. To boot Taylor has an Emmy Award for her mantle too.

Swift has released 10 studio albums with her latest 2020 release, Midnights, selling two million copies, with half of the sales coming from vinyl sales.

The stadium stage was massive.  The runway alone extended to the 50 yard line from the end zone of the stadium giving Taylor plenty of room to roam in front of her adoring fans. I was too young to experience Beatlemania in the 1960’s, but I have seen the news reels and I am sure the two are very similar with young women screaming and loosing their minds at the start of every song. Unless you were in the middle of it, there really isn’t a good way to describe the adulation the Swifties have for Taylor Swift.

This larger than life show roared on from the colorful opening of parachute/fans that rose 25 feet high on the backs of men who shielded then eventually revealed Taylor’s entry to the event. To Taylor climbing stairs in a multi level office set above the stage in a sassy dance number called “The Man,” and an illusion that maybe the coolest thing I have ever seen in a concert.

Taylor swift left the piano at the end of a surprise song, “Treacherous,” off the album Red released in 2012. She Stood around for a short delay looking a bit confused as she had changed the timing by switching two of the songs on the setlist. When the timing got caught up, She dives head first into what appears as a swimming pool in the runway wearing a yellow gown . She then swims the length of the runway, under the the runway, visible to the crowd all the way back to the main stage where a waterfall erupts. When the waters subside, Taylor is sitting on a bed on the stage, with not a drop of water on her. She then climbs a ladder into a cloud above the stage. Once she disappears in the cloud, the ladder retracts behind her up into the cloud. This was an unbelievable effect that teeters on impossible if I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes.

44 songs, over three hours of dancing, singing, and special effects, justified whatever amount was spent on tickets to witness this once in a life time show. I have seen some great shows in my years of covering concerts, but the Eras Tour is the new benchmark in entertainment!

raymond james stadium eras tour

Sunny Tampa has some of the best live music and entertainment Florida has to offer. Concerts in Tampa Bay range from stadium and arena tours by music’s biggest stars to outdoor shows and formal affairs at the heart of the city’s cultural hub.

Below, we’ve highlighted five of Tampa’s best venues, including an open-air amphitheater on the Florida State Fairgrounds, a theater in the historic Ybor City neighborhood and a massive performing arts center on the banks of the Tampa Riverwalk.

Amalie Arena

Amalie-Arena

Address: 401 Channelside Dr., Tampa, FL 33602

Box office hours: Monday to Sunday: 3 hours before ticketed showtime on event days only

Though it was originally called the Ice Palace upon opening in 1996, the chilly home of the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning heats up when it comes to live music. The 21,500-seat arena has welcomed a slew of musicians over the decades, as varied as Reba McEntire, Rod Stewart, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Lizzo, Elton John and Bon Jovi.

Raymond James Stadium

Raymond-James-Stadium

Address: 4201 N Dale Mabry Hwy., Tampa, FL 33607

Box office hours: Open only on event days

By far the largest venue in the Tampa area with a capacity of 75,000, Raymond James Stadium is home to both the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the University of South Florida Bulls football team. But when the pigskin is not being tossed around the field, the stadium draws some of the biggest music tours in North America, including Beyonce’s Renaissance Tour, The Weeknd’s After Hours Til Dawn Tour, Ed Sheeran’s Mathematics Tour and Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour.

MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre

MIDFLORIDA-Credit-Union-Amphitheatre

Address: 4802 US-301, Tampa, FL 33610

Box office hours: Open at 12:00 noon only on show days

Located on the Florida State Fairgrounds, the MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre opened in the summer of 2004 as an open-air amphitheater with an approximate capacity of 20,000 (9,900 reserved seats and room for roughly 10,000 more fans on the open lawn). In the last year alone, the outdoor venue has been visited by the likes of Post Malone, Boy George and Culture Club, Morgan Wallen, Pentatonix and more.

The RITZ Ybor

Address: 1503 E 7th Ave., Tampa, FL 33605

Box office hours: Monday to Friday: 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and one hour prior to showtime

View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Sunset Events (@sunsetevents)

The Ritz Ybor holds a whole lot of history in its walls. Having initially opened in 1917 in the historic Ybor City neighborhood, the venue was originally named the Rivoli Theatre and built for Tampa’s growing Afro-Cuban community to come together. Renamed the RITZ Theatre from 1945 to the ‘70s, the building has been used as everything from a cinema and adult movie theater to a nightclub and, now, a concert venue over the last 107 years.

A new Major League Baseball stadium is pretty much guaranteed 81 home games a season. And, with any luck, the team hosts a few playoff games, too. But what about the other 280 or so days, the ones when the team is out of town or during late fall and winter, when the team doesn’t play?

The Tampa Bay Rays and city officials have said they expect the stadium proposed for St. Petersburg’s Historic Gas Plant District to attract a heavy schedule of non-baseball events. Team officials feel the proposed 30,000- to 35,000-seat stadium places it nicely in the “missing middle for venue capacity” between the Bucs’ Raymond James Stadium at about 70,000 and the 21,000 that can pack into Amalie Arena for a Tampa Bay Lightning hockey game.

Unlike most baseball facilities, the Rays’ new stadium will have a roof protecting attendees from inclement weather, which many touring acts prefer. The stadium will also be brand new. The novelty could help the stadium compete against Tampa Bay’s and Central Florida’s older venues.

The Rays and city officials think the stadium will attract concerts, festivals, graduations, conferences and expos. The Rays also shared that they think the stadium has the potential to host other sports, including college football, soccer, lacrosse and rugby, for which the seating capacity of an NFL stadium might be too large.

Of course, St. Petersburg City Council and the Pinellas County Commission still have to vote on the stadium and redevelopment project with its basket of public subsidies, including $600 million from the city and county for the $1.3 billion stadium. And among the many considerations is how often the stadium will be used — or not used. Recent history at the Rays’ current stadium and other Major League ballparks provides some answers.

First, it’s worth noting that arenas where professional hockey and basketball teams play generally attract more concerts and other major ticketed events than larger stadiums that house baseball and football teams. With a few notable exceptions like pop star Taylor Swift, not many acts can consistently sell out a 50,000- or 70,000-seat stadium in city after city. Locally, more top concert performers book Amalie, not Raymond James or Tropicana Field, which can hold about 45,000.

When performers think they can attract 40,000 fans in a given city, they will often choose to play two nights in the 20,000-seat local arena, instead of having to change their stage setup and everything else that goes into playing a much larger venue, said Victor Matheson, an economics professor at the College of the Holy Cross in Massachusetts who has studied the impacts of events at professional sports stadiums.

Touring bands and other events can be reluctant to play in stadiums that don’t attract a lot of acts, Matheson said. They feel more comfortable relying on an arena with a steady track record of successfully hosting big shows. “It’s a comfort thing,” he said. “Why take a chance in a place that doesn’t have as much experience?”

Matheson and some other researchers analyzed events at 29 Major League Baseball stadiums with help from Pollstar, a concert trade publication that tracks touring data. Other than home games for the local baseball team, most of the stadiums attracted fewer than a handful of major ticketed events each year, with an emphasis of “major” and “ticketed.” Using that criteria, Houston’s Minute Maid Park, for instance, hosted just 10 non-baseball events over the four years ending in November 2018, the researchers found. And that was better than average. Most of the baseball stadiums in the study averaged less than two a year.

The Pollstar data tracked most major music concert tours, many other cultural events such as comedians, kid-themed shows, and some sporting events such as wrestling, ice skating exhibitions and the Harlem Globetrotters. It did not include events that weren’t ticketed, like political rallies, religious services, graduations or high school sports. Still, it provides an idea of how few non-baseball events take place in some of these stadiums.

The Rays, though, said there has been a “significant uptick in the number of concerts hosted at (Major League Baseball) ballparks,” adding that some concert promoters think the bowl seating that wraps around the concert stage is ideal. The new stadium should also be a “first-class venue for sound and acoustics,” the team said.

Over the years, Tropicana Field has had some success in hosting events other than baseball. The Enchant Christmas light show has drawn about 1 million visitors over its four-year run, according to the Rays. A huge crowd attended the WWE’s Royal Rumble in January. College football teams have played bowl games at the Trop, which is also home to the Gasparilla Classic, a gymnastics event that draws about 6,000 competitors. The Trop has also hosted home shows and other expos, and thousands of Pinellas County high school and St. Petersburg College seniors, their family members, educators and friends have attended graduation ceremonies in the air-conditioned comfort of the Trop. But as Matheson said, no city heavily subsidizes a billion-dollar stadium to host high school graduations or prep sports. “It might be convenient, but is that convenience worth a billion dollars?” he said.

The Rays also think the redevelopment of the other parts of the 86-acre property with thousands of new homes, offices, a full-service hotel with convention space, retail stores and other amenities will help attract more events to the stadium.

“We believe conferences and conventions will find it appealing to utilize (Major League Baseball) meeting spaces at the ballpark in addition to hotel facilities and ballpark tours, plus the allure of our downtown will make it an attractive destination for mid-sized conventions,” the Rays said in an email.

Cathie Wood of ARK Invest fame has even talked about establishing a local version of Austin’s famous South by Southwest festival, a film, music and interactive-technology showcase that spans nine days and attracts hundreds of thousands of attendees to Texas’ state capital each March. Wood, who recently helped open the ARK Innovation Center in St. Petersburg, has said she would “love to help fill” a new baseball stadium in the offseason.

Creating a festival even a fraction as successful as South by Southwest would be a coup for St. Petersburg. The optimism is enviable. No marks off for thinking big, either.

So can the Rays buck the historical trend and be the baseball team that fills its stadium with big non-baseball events that consistently lure thousands of people to the area? The Rays seem confident, but there is no way to know for sure. It’s one of many unknowns that the St. Petersburg City Council and Pinellas commissioners will have to weigh when they finally vote on the deal.
