Moscow Bus Network

Moscow Bus Network

Moscow's crazy traffic and its excellent metro network mean that the city's buses and trolleybuses aren't the number one option for tourists .

Moscow has hundreds of bus and trolleybus routes , many of which connect the city centre with its otherwise-isolated suburban neighbourhoods. Regular traffic jams mean that the bus network has not always been the most recommendable option , especially as the metro is so efficient.

Having said that, new bus lanes have opened up recently making it a comfortable alternative for certain routes. The bus can be a good, economical option at night , when 13 routes replace the metro after it shuts down (all starting from Kitay-Gorod metro and taking the main roads out to the edge off the city).

More modern buses have screens indicating the stops along the route, but in older ones you may well struggle knowing where to get off if relying on the Russian-language loudspeaker announcements .

If you do decide to catch the bus, tickets can be purchased from kiosks and metro stops, and the majority of lines operate between 6 am and 1 am.

From this angle, the Kremlin wall looks completely different, the monument to Peter the Great is striking in its grandeur.

To see all the beauty, it's worth taking a ride on a river bus in Moscow. The Kultury Park and the Luzhniki sports complex are slowly giving way to the Moscow City skyscrapers. Such a solemn moment will surely be remembered by all those present and will impress.

river tram along the Moscow river timetable

If you look a little into history, you can find out that the first river trams appeared in Moscow back in 1923. They included 70 small boats that could take on board from 40 to 100 passengers. Even before the Great Patriotic War, the most popular routes were from Kamenny Bridge to Zaozerye and from Dorogomilovsky Bridge to the AMO plant.

Already in the sixties, not only urban, but also suburban lines appeared, which were served by high-speed hydrofoil ships. Over time, all Moscow water transport began to engage in excursions and walks. Therefore, it will not be difficult for guests of the capital to choose the best route for an informative and interesting walk.

Looking at the schedule of river buses, you can immediately determine that the most common route is starting from the Kievsky railway station and following to the Novospassky bridge. Transport departs every 25 minutes as in onedirection, and in the opposite direction, from noon to eight o'clock in the evening.

The next most visited route is from the Central Park of Culture and Culture to the Rossiya Hotel and back, here trams depart at half an hour intervals.

The trip from Sparrow Hills to Ustinsky Bridge will be exciting, which will end again at Sparrow Hills. In an hour and a half of travel, you can see amazing landscapes, extraordinary beautythe capital and hear a lot of interesting things from a guide accompanying you along the way. Such trips are remembered for a lifetime by their splendor and originality.

A large amount of water transport is provided by the Capital Shipping Company, but in addition to it, private companies offer river trips, which operate many additional routes. Thanks to this, there are no problems with overloading of trams, and all tourists can safely enjoy their vacation on the river surface.

For guests arriving in the metropolis, it is worth mentioning that there are 16 berths along the entire river. It will not be difficult to get to the right place and see the many sights located by the water, which will look even more majestic.

Muscovites often use waterbuses, as they make life easier for them. Despite the constant construction of freeways, it is quite difficult to travel by car in the city due to constant traffic jams. The metro is also overloaded, and in the warm season, there is not always a desire to go underground. River transport comes to the rescue, which will easily and comfortably take residents to the right place.

The hasty metropolis fades into the background, when you can calmly, sitting in a tram cafe, watch the beauties of the city. Many citizens are happy to go on river walks at night, because it is a real pleasure to see Moscow shining with lights, enjoying not only all its beauty, but also relaxing in a comfortable environment. The lights of buildings, the play of advertising make the city magical and unearthly in the dark.

When the established summer comes, not all residents can go to seaside resorts. River navigation comes to their aid, because moorings are also equipped in the Moscow region. On the shore of the Klyazma reservoir there is an excellent sandy beach, which is framed by a pine forest that helps to keep cool. There are many cafes and shops on the territory, so vacationers go with pleasure to enjoy clean air and a magnificent beach. In order to get to the beach, you need to find out the schedule of river buses in order to get to your vacation without delay.

Residents and visitors can enjoy free bus travel on Sunday, September 22, on most routes across Devon. The offer is part of celebrations to mark World Car Free Day.

The aim is to encourage more people to use the bus to explore their local area, visit family and friends and enjoy exploring different parts of Devon without the worry of transport costs. For anyone travelling by bus Monday to Saturday, all bus journeys are still capped at a £2 single fare until December 2024.

The offer is being delivered through the DevonBus Partnership in conjunction with bus operators – Stagecoach, Tally Ho, Dartline, Torbay Buses and Filers Travel. Devon County Council (DCC) is supporting the event with Torbay Council using Bus Service Improvement Plan funding provided by the Department for Transport.

Councillor Andrea Davis, DCC's cabinet member for Climate Change, Environment and Transport, said: "The DevonBus Partnership was established to help people across Devon and this offer of free bus travel highlights what can be achieved by working together. It’s an opportunity for everyone to try the free Sunday bus services, whether it’s for a leisurely day out, to go shopping or to visit family and friends.

"Hopefully this event will encourage more people in the county to become regular bus passengers. Combined with the £2 fare for bus journeys on other days or free travel with a concessionary bus pass, bus passengers are enjoying great value for money and can rest assured they’re doing their bit for the environment."

Texas jury clears most 'Trump Train’ drivers in civil trial over 2020 Biden-Harris bus encounter

A federal jury in Texas has cleared a group of former President Donald Trump supporters and found one person liable in a civil trial over a so-called “Trump Train” that surrounded a Biden-Harris campaign bus in 2020

AUSTIN, Texas — A federal jury in Texas on Monday rejected voter intimidation allegations against all but one of a group of former President Donald Trump supporters who surrounded a Biden-Harris campaign bus on an interstate days before the 2020 election.

Only one of the six Trump supporters who were sued in the civil trial was held responsible by the jury. A Texas man whose car brushed up against another as the caravan of vehicles dubbed the “Trump Train” raced down Interstate 35, was ordered to pay the bus driver $10,000 and another $30,000 in punitive damages.

Both sides declared victory at the end of a two-week trial in an Austin courthouse. The five Trump supporters cleared in the lawsuit — which was brought by three people aboard the campaign bus, including former Texas Democratic lawmaker Wendy Davis — described the verdict as vindicating and a relief.

“We’re just ready to feel like normal people again,” said Joeylynn Mesaros, one of the defendants, who described being harassed for participating in the ‘Trump Train.’ “It’s been a thousand something days to have our day in court.”

Attorneys for those aboard the bus said justice was served, even as they disagreed with the jury’s decision to clear five of the defendants.

“When I came to this case it was never about politics that day. I’m grateful, I’m proud of my team,” said Tim Holloway, who was behind the wheel of the campaign bus on Oct. 30, 2020.

The Biden-Harris campaign bus was traveling from San Antonio to Austin for an event when a group of cars and pickup trucks waving Trump flags boxed in the bus on the highway. Davis testified she feared for her life.

Video that Davis recorded from the bus shows one of the defendants, Eliazar Cisneros, hit a campaign volunteer’s car while the trucks occupied all lanes of traffic, forcing the bus and everyone around it to a 15 mph crawl.

It was the last day of early voting in Texas and the bus was scheduled to stop at San Marcos for an event at Texas State University. The event was canceled after Davis and others on the bus — a campaign staffer and the driver — made repeated calls to 911 asking for a police escort through San Marcos and no help arrived.

The trial centered on whether the actions of the “Trump Train” participants amounted to political intimidation.

No criminal charges were filed against the six Trump supporters.

An attorney for Cisneros, the only member of the convoy who the jury found liable, said they would appeal.

“With regard to my client, it’s not over yet,” attorney Francisco Canseco said.

Davis testified that she felt scared and anxious throughout the ordeal. “I feel like they were enjoying making us afraid,” she testified. “It’s traumatic for all of us to revisit that day.”

About Enjoy Waltham Forest

Last updated: 25 September 2024

Next review: 24 July 2025

In 2014, Waltham Forest Council secured £30million funding from Transport for London’s (TfL) Mini-Holland Programme to upgrade our streets and road network, tackling key issues around road safety, air quality and public health.

With 40% of our residents not having access to a vehicle, we needed to create safer and more attractive streets that encourage walking, cycling and the use of public transport.

As one of three pilot boroughs, we transformed the borough with a range of residential area-based schemes, and corridor schemes, to provide the borough with a mix of safer direct walking and cycling routes between our town centres and pockets of quieter residential areas for local journeys. You can read more about our schemes introduced as part of the Mini-Holland Programme by visiting our  Past Schemes page.

Since receiving Mini-Holland funding, we have continued to deliver an ambitious programme of regeneration activities borough wide as one of the leading boroughs across the country. You can read more about our current Enjoy Waltham Forest schemes by visiting our Current Schemes page .

Enjoy Waltham Forest aims to create streets and public spaces of the future by:

  • Creating safe, protected and dedicated cycle lanes
  • Upgrading crossings to prioritise pedestrians and make walking safer
  • Upgrading bus stops and locations to make public transport more accessible and reliable for all
  • Upgrading junctions to help traffic flow more easily
  • Creating and improving walking and cycling routes that make it easier to get between our town centres
  • Installing cycle infrastructure such as cycle hubs, cycle stands and cycle hangars to make storing bikes easy
  • Designing new outdoor spaces such as parklets and pocket parks for the local community to enjoy
  • Improving planting and plant selection to increase bio-diversity
  • Introducing sustainable urban drainage (SuDs) to address issues with flooding
  • Creating quieter and safer residential streets that make walking and cycling more appealing and safer for all.
