Traveling with the family offers a lot of amazing perks, especially when you want to make unforgettable memories with your loved ones. Are you visiting Cebu and bringing your kids in tow? For sure, they will love it here at Cebu Safari and Adventure Park.

Cebu Safari and Adventure Park is one of the best adventure parks in Cebu and is touted as the Philippines’ premier safari park. It is located atop the picturesque hills of Carmen, a municipality that’s only an hour’s drive away from the Queen City of the South.

Wanna book your ticket in advance? Get your Cebu Safari and Adventure Park ticket here!

WHAT'S IN THIS POST?

How to Get to Cebu Safari and Adventure Park

To get to Cebu Safari and Adventure Park, you can ride a private car or take public transportation. Since the park is not too far from Cebu City, either way will be fine.

If you commute, head to the Cebu North Bus Terminal beside SM City Cebu and ride any northbound bus. Inform the bus conductor that you will get off at Carmen Plaza in Carmen.

From Carmen Plaza, ride a van that travels to Cebu Safari and Adventure Park. The fare costs 100 PHP (~2 USD) per person.

If you decide to reach the park by car from Cebu City, drive up north until you get to Carmen National High School along the municipality’s national highway. You won’t get lost as there is a huge sign along the highway that will guide you to reach the park.

Turn left, follow the signs, and you should reach Cebu Safari and Adventure Park after eight kilometers or around 20 minutes from the main road.

Wanna get there conveniently? Book a private transfer between Cebu Safari and Cebu City or Mactan!

What to Expect at Cebu Safari

Opened just in 2018, Cebu Safari and Adventure Park is relatively new. Sure, Cebu may be home to the historic Magellan’s Cross, the beautiful Oslob, and the majestic Kawasan Falls, to name a few, but this park will nourish your thirst for learning. Did you know this place is also the biggest zoological park in the Philippines? That’s quite a record.

The brainchild of hippophile and orchid collector Michel Lhuillier, who is also referred to as “Senyorito,” the park serves as a sanctuary for more than a thousand animals from 120 different species, as well as a wide range of plants.

Cebu Safari and Adventure Park is divided into various sections, such as Michel’s Garden, Gardens of the World, and the zoo.

For your experience with the fauna, the park has various species of birds, mammals, and reptiles. It also presents a bird show as well as gives visitors the chance to feed some of the animals, such as the giraffes and the white and orange Bengal tigers.

Cebu Safari - Things to Do in North Cebu

Michel’s Garden, named after Senyorito, is a botanical walking trail that houses his 40-year-old orchid collection. Experience a tidbit of Senyorito’s passion. This garden features over a million orchids, such as the vanda strap-leaf, phalaenopsis, dendrobium, and oncidium, among others.

Then, as you visit Gardens of the World, you’ll be treated to a charming tunnel garden that showcases different types of plants native to various countries of the world, hence this garden’s name.

Activities and Food

But the park is more than just a visual spectacle. For adventure seekers, you can enjoy riding ATVs, ziplining, sky-biking, exploring caves, and more during your visit.

For foodies, find gastronomic pleasures as you dine at the various eateries in the park located near famous attractions, such as where the giraffes are or where the orchids are. Cebu Safari’s restaurants serve various delicious foods like pizzas, pasta, burgers, gourmet fries, coffee, and more.

Cape Town to the Serengeti: Deserts & Wilderness

Enjoyed the trip, saw lots of different animals, history and culture. Spent a lot of the time driving but the variety of game drives and optional activities created a good balance. The 2 groups I was a part of were great people and good company. The meals however were poor, felt our guide didn't try his best, majority of meals were cheap and our meal allowances were equivalent to $2-3 when given to eat on our long drives. He definitely could of done better with options especially after several comments and suggestions from our group. I didn't feel the food we got was anywhere the price I paid for the trip. Breakfasts consisted of cornflakes, weetabix, fruit and occasional yoghurt which was hidden and rationed along with museli. There were some days closer to the end where we got eggs, sausage and pancakes. Some individuals didn't even eat much overall because there wasn't much selection. Lunches consisted of processed meat sandwiches, apples and bananas for the most part. Dinners were rice, pasta, some vegetables and bread. The meat options were fine and more catered to I found. Unfortunately I felt that our guide wasn't organized with activities either, left everything to the last minute. He became more involved and active on the 2nd half of our journey with the group, for the first half he was a little reserved. Our driver was amazing and very accommodating and friendly. I would definetely do another G trip but would like to have a more outgoing and accommodating guide.

Kenya Wildlife Safari Tour

Kenya Wildlife Safari

This trip far exceeded my expectations, especially since this was my very first time going with a tour. We had an amazing group who made this experience all the more fun. Our driver, cook, and guide was so welcoming and we never once felt like we were in any kind of danger. Our guide, Martin, was always honest with us and made sure we weren't taken advantage of by local merchants. This was really a once in a lifetime experience and the people of Kenya were all wonderful, especially the local tribes who welcome us with open hands and always went out of their way to get everyone involved and taught us so much about their way of life, their culture, and traditions. The itinerary is pretty spot on and there weren't any ugly surprises, only wonderful ones. I would recommend everyone to thoroughly read through it and make sure you bring the right equipment as some people in our group were caught off guard with the storage size and night weather (their sleeping bag didn't hold up to the cold weather). We were able to see so many wild life on our trip, even driving on the highway we saw zebras just walking pass the street. Giraffes, monkeys, and hyenas (we always heard them at night) were also a regular occurrence! On our safari's we were able to see 4/5 big five (+cheetah!) and all of the ugly five. Really just an amazing experience that people of all ages can appreciate!

8 days: Best of Zambia, Botswana (Chobe) and Zimbabwe (Hwange) Wildlife Safari Tour Tour

8 days: Best of Zambia, Botswana (Chobe) and Zimbabwe (Hwange) Wildlife Safari Tour

The trip delivers what the title promises. The best of three countries in one package. Mark and his team took great care of their guests at all times and, together with their local partners, ensured a smooth vacation. In particular, the rhino safari in Zambia and the Chobe National Park in Botswana are a fantastic experience. Just like being able to see the Victoria Falls from both sides. The logistics of the numerous border crossings are fully supported and can therefore be completed without any worries (with appropriate preparation, depending on nationality). In my opinion, there is only room for improvement in the accommodation in Zimbabwe. The chosen lodge is in a solid condition, but the rooms (sanitary facilities, no air conditioning) show the passing decades. The food, on the other hand, is excellent and sumptuous! Despite the small drawback, an absolutely recommendable trip to experience the highlights of the three countries!

The Absolute Safari

My partner and I have just finished an 8 month trip around the world ticking off 30 countries across Europe, Africa and Asia. Africa has always been a dream but we were a bit worried about spending such a long time with a tour company as we enjoy our independence. Our time with Absolute Africa however was the absolute highlight of our trip! Everything about this tour was absolutely amazing and we will never forget our time in Africa. The tents easily became our home with comfy bed mats, the food was delicious and plentiful, the tour leader made our time special, and there were so many activities to suit everyone. We have been on a few tours which seem to focus on trying to get more money out of you which as budget travellers we hated, but Absolute Africa really understand that everyone has different and often limited budgets. The type of people that travel with Absolute Africa are like minded and you soon develop some amazing friendships. I can't speak highly enough of this 73 day tour and would recommend to all.

East Africa Safari & Coast Tour

East Africa is a bucket-list trip and did not disappoint. We saw the big 5 and so much more. Our guide, Zach, our chef and driver were professionals and dealt with any and all issues without having them affect the trip.

16 Days of Intensive Adventurous Safari through Magical Uganda and Rwanda ( Private tour) Tour

16 Days of Intensive Adventurous Safari through Magical Uganda and Rwanda ( Private tour)

I had the most incredible experience with Mukisa Safaris. This was a solo adventure 23 day slightly customized tour of Uganda and Rwanda, where I wanted to spend a few extra days driving around Rwanda on top of an all-encompassing tour of Uganda. From first contact with Richard, everything was handled completely professionally and seamlessly, and responses and tour modifications were sent over almost immediately, as I fine tuned my trip, which really help plan (they can do economy / premium accommodation options, as well as customizing your tour exactly how you want) After being picked up from the airport, everything was handled to such perfection, and I felt completely safe the entire time, while we toured the most remote parts of the countries, exploring wildlife, rural villagers, and much more. All hotel bookings and transportation was handled by Mukisa, and I didn’t have to do a thing. We had a tour of Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, Kidepo Valley, Murchison Falls, Queen Elizabeth, Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale, Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi, village tours, a 8 day hike in the Rwenzori mountains, and a few days in Rwanda to relax at the Lake Kivu and explore a bit more. My main goal was wildlife photography, and the vehicle was perfectly equipped having an open top for safaris. I captured some amazing shots of lions in trees, elephants, giraffes, monkeys, gorillas, chimpanzees, and local culture. They say Uganda has the Big 7 :) - add Gorillas and Chimpanzees My guides were Giraffe and Solomon. They were an absolute pleasure to have as companions for 23 days, having vast knowledge of the countries, national parks, culture, where to eat, and always providing insightful commentary as we traversed the lands. We always stopped over at great places to eat that accommodated an international diet, instead of packed lunches, however you can eat anywhere if you like. Any personal requests I had were always remembered, such as getting photos of certain subjects or areas, or searching for certain foods (Samosas are my favorite). Water always in the car, and they even a travel adapter for the Rwanda power plugs, which I didn’t think about. So much appreciated was having 4G internet the whole time via hot spot. You can drive up to 8 hours some days and the internet was always reliable and fast! I cannot recommend Mukisa Safaris enough, they can completely customize any kind of trip you would like, are so hospitable, and I left Uganda with some of my favorite travel memories ever. And on top of that I now consider them as friends and family. I will definitely return! Uganda, as they say, The Pearl of Africa, is the most beautiful country to explore, and Mukisa Safaris made it the most enjoyable experience!

African Safari Tour Reviews

Our guide Muddy was excellent. He knew where to find his animals and he was patient and accommodating. Thank you Muddy for an amazing safari experience. The safari lodge was great but the hotels were average. Knowing that we cannot drink out of the tap, I don't appreciate having to pay extra for drinking water at the hotels. Food was one item that they can improve on, especially the boxed lunch. The overall experience was great....we saw all of the big 5 plus more. I would recommend this tour....just be realistic with the accommodations and the food.
Everything was Amazing
We enjoyed the experience. The only negative place was the lodge in Hwange, totally substandard, we were supposed to be there 2 nights but moved out after the first night. Must mention Mark, Fines, Peace and the other 2 guides that went over and above their duties to satisfy our needs.

Safaris at San Diego Safari Park

The San Diego Zoo Safari Park is a 1,800-acre wild animal enclosure in the San Pasqual Valley area of San Diego, California, near Escondido.

More than two million locals and tourists visit San Diego Safari Park annually to get closer to wildlife and have animal encounters.

At this Safari Park, visitors can choose from different safaris, each better than the other.

This article shares everything you must know about the different kinds of safaris at the San Diego wildlife attraction.

The Safari Park is known for its vast, open-air exhibits that aim to replicate the animals’ natural habitats.

The expansive enclosures give the animals ample space to roam and engage in more natural behaviors.

The park is home to a diverse collection of animals, focusing on species from Africa and Asia.

You can see herds of elephants, giraffes, rhinos, zebras, antelopes, and various bird species.

The park is dedicated to wildlife conservation, and you can expect to see educational displays and signage emphasizing the importance of protecting endangered species and their habitats.

There are shows and demonstrations featuring various animals throughout the day.

The park offers some interactive exhibits where visitors can get hands-on experiences or learn more about specific animal behavior and conservation aspects.

Tickets for San Diego Zoo Safari Park are available online or at the attraction box office.

Online ticket prices tend to be cheaper than tickets at the venue.

When you buy online, you can avoid the long queues at the attraction’s ticket counters.

Because the attraction sells a limited number of tickets, they may sell out during peak days. Booking early helps avoid last-minute disappointments.

Once you purchase San Diego Zoo Safari Park tickets , they get delivered to your email address.

There is no need to get printouts of the ticket.

On the day of your visit, proceed directly to the turnstiles; you do not have to stand in line at the ticket booth. Show the e-ticket on your smartphone and enter the park.

The African Tram Safari is free with the regular San Diego Safari Park ticket .

The 30-minute guided tour happens in an open-air tram so that the visitors can connect with the San Diego Safari Park’s animals on a closer level.

African Tram Safari at San Diego Safari Park

The tram takes a 4 km (2.5 miles) long route through San Diego Zoo Safari Park’s field habitats, and you get to see herds of giraffes, flocks of exotic birds, crashes of rhinos, etc.

African Tram Safaris start from the African Outpost at 10 am and continue 45 minutes before the park closes.

The best time to line up for the African Tram Safaris is before 11 am or after 3 pm because there is no crowd.

If you reach the African Outpost between 11 am and 3 pm, you may have to wait a while to board the tram.

Besides the Africa Tram, the San Diego Safari Park admission tickets include Cheetah Run, tours and attractions, shows, animal encounters & kids playgrounds.

The only experiences NOT included in the regular ticket are the paid safaris .

A visit to San Diego Safari Park is a costly undertaking.

The Safari Park admission costs US$69 for all visitors 12 years and above and $59 for three to 11-year-old visitors.

This is why many visitors wonder if the free Africa Tram Safari included in the ticket is enough.

They also want to know if it makes sense to book one of the paid safaris.

We think the paid safari tours are nice to have.

If money isn’t an issue, and you have time, go for them.

Else, you won’t miss much by just purchasing the regular San Diego Safari ticket and going on the free safari.

Wildlife lovers opt for the 2-day San Diego Zoo + San Diego Safari Park combo , which allows them to visit both wildlife attractions one after the other. Or if they prefer, they can visit one attraction twice.

Paid Safaris at San Diego Safari Park

San Diego Zoo Safari Park offers 11 safaris, for which visitors must pay extra.

These are over and above the numerous wildlife experiences that come with the regular Safari Park ticket .

You can book these safaris once you reach the Safari Park or call 619-718-3000 in advance.

Even if you book an extra safari, you must purchase a regular entry ticket to the park.

We explain all the different San Diego Safari Park tours so that you can decide for yourself.

During the Wildlife Safari, your group of up to six will board an open-air safari truck with an expert guide and explore the expansive savanna habitats.

This is a private tour, and you see many birds and mammals, including some babies.

Age Restriction: 3 years and up Duration: 1 hour Cost: US$419 per group of up to six

During the Night Vision Safari, you spot rhinos, flamingos, giraffes, and more in the dark.

Review ★★★★★

“It’s really a good spot to bring your family for a day. My kids loved it. The spacing is good enough that you can walk around, but there are shuttles. Beware you can’t bring food in, even snacks for your kids. I guess they think you might feed the food to the animals. They have a food restaurants strategically along the pathway. So be sure to bring some cash with you incase you get hungry or thirsty, which you will.”

– Tony Stanyer

“Money well spent! The place is well-maintained, staff are nice and there are lots of cool animals to see! Everyone should consider this as part of the itinerary when they visit Cebu.”

– Keith Laganao

“The park may be far from the city, but the experience is worth it. It is designed beautifully, very organized, and clean. The landscape is so awesome. There are so many restaurants placed in strategic locations. The staffs are professional and very friendly. Experiencing the place will be an experience of a lifetime.”

– Mark & Maolyn Diongco

“We had great experience with nature here. Seeing the animal’s habitat and had some facts along the ways is a good way of knowing them. Had witnessed the birdshow and its fantastic. I wanna go back here next year.”

– Christian Philip

“To enjoy and appreciate this park fully get a tour guide. You won’t regret it”

– Edwin Grajo

“I was really amazed by the enormity of the venue. The animals are well maintained and the variety is amazing. Even though, it is lacking some animal shows, like in Singapore or Hong Kong, but I was assured that it is coming. The orchids garden is also attractive with so many species.”

– James Rockwell

“Want a safari adventure? Then this is the place to go. With so many animals to view, lions, zebras, orangutans and many more. They also have a flower garden, orchid garden, bird show and many more. Don’t worry about the food, they have plenty of restaurants. Now, they have new adventure rides, like the zipline, sky bicycle and the ATV trail ride.”

– Joel Borga

This is one of the best zoos in the world! I’m amazed and impressed by the quality of the place and the health of the animals. Such a rare jewel in the Philippines. I’d say this is a must see if you’re visiting Cebu and have had your fill of beach days.

– Marcy Babor

“Truly worth the travel and worth the pay! Everything was in proper order and I so love the place and the animals of course I love how me and my family enjoyed our trip here! “

– Ebeb Gen

As a Canadian who has been to many zoos in the world (Toronto metro zoo, Canada, Artis in the Netherlands, Berlin zoo, Germany to name a few ) Cebu Safari & Adventure Park ranks up there with the best of them. I’ve been there twice and will be going back again. Beautiful zoo and gardens. Do yourself a favor and just GO!!!

Just want to commend the management. It was a beautiful experience for the entire family. To start with, you have courteous employees in the field, and they seem to love their job. The animals are healthy and looks well fed. It was indeed beyond our expectation. Looking forward to more animals and more activities and events ahead. Happy New Year!

In fairness, the safety and hygiene protocols as well as the service at the Cebu Safari were impressive.

Even if it’s not my first time, the park always offers a unique experience bcoz I never know what the “residents” will be doing…Sometimes they show up, other times not; some put on a show, others sit still like statues (haha)..I don’t get tired of looking at the giraffes feeding… or the birds preening… I wonder where the camels are at, and why the snakes have taken a back stage. I just wish there were more educational talks, even recorded ones…Oh well, but I do love the place so much! Thanks!

We really enjoy touring the whole Cebu Safari…Despite the Pandemic we had given the chance to visit the most amazing place in our neighboring town…All the staff are very accommodating…All of us had enjoy especially the kids…I would definitely recommend this place as one of the best place to visit…???

Service was impeccable. Kudos to their staffs especially at the camp area and reception. The place was also amazingly clean. Old and young can come together and enjoy mother nature at its fullest.

Staff – 10/10 customer service Place – 10/10 Stuff to learn – 10/10 The fauna – well managed and well treated The flora – superb! Salute to the landscape work Experience – awesome

We are definitely coming back and will tag along more people with us

Moscow parks – leisure, nature and historical

Moscow is the most green megapolis in the world. There are over a hundred parks and green spaces like gardens, squares and boulevards. You will definitely bump into a few of them wherever you go. Whether you are interested in memorial, historic parks, parks of wildlife or you just want to have a calm break from the speedy city life – city parks have something special for everyone.

Moscow leisure parks

The leisure Moscow parks are undoubtedly the most popular and famous with the locals and travelers. Today such parks provide a great number of exciting entertainments for Muscovites and city guests, adults and children.

The Gorky Park

The Gorky Park

Gorky Park opened in 1928 and was the first holiday park in the Soviet Union with playgrounds, a sports stadium, exhibition halls and attractions for kids. Today it has a fresh, vibrant appearance. The park features bike rental stations, a comfortable business area with Wi-Fi, an outdoor movie theatre and a greenhouse where you can buy fresh greens such as basil and lettuce. To contemplate the sky and the stars, go to the observatory and look through the telescope while listening to fascinating stories from astronomers. Enjoy many sports in the park: volleyball, handball, football or a peaceful jog around the beautiful surroundings.

Zaryadye Park

Zaryadye Park

Opened in September 2017, Zaryadye is the youngest on our list. Located just a few minutes away from Red Square, it includes various activities like the floating bridge with its thin V-form extension, an ice cave, also concert hall and an amphitheater. The entire territory of the park was divided into four zones of Russia: forest, steppe, tundra, and the floodplains.

The park mostly consists of pristine forest, dotted with old summer pavilions, ponds and quaint little stone bridges. So lots of celebrities from different epoques liked it a lot and spent their time in Hermitage Garden. You can find here three theatres in the garden: Hermitage, Sphere and New Opera. During winter an ice rink works here and in summer a musical stage is assembled to host jazz and brass band festivals.

Aptekarsky Ogorod (Apothecary Garden)

Aptekarsky Ogorod (Apothecary Garden) is one of the oldest gardens in Moscow. It was founded in the XVIII century by Peter the First (great Russian emperor). A larch that he planted himself still grows in the garden, so it’s more than 250 years old. At the time of its foundation, it was a garden with herbs and medicinal plants and was used as an educational center for doctors. Today there are the orangery with its tropical palms, the carp pond, and the immense trees that dot the landscape and turn wonderful golden shades in the autumn. Several restaurants and cafes work here making it a very nice spot for relaxation no matter what season it is. You can book a special tour or join the guided excursion group.

Serebyany Bor (Silver Forest) is a famous pine forest in the west of Moscow. The park has 230 forms of plant life, and is also home to watersports complex, providing a lot of activities for visitors. The layout of Serebryany Bor is unusual, as it is located on an artificial island between a meander in the Moscow River and a channel. There is an artificial lake, the Deep Gulf and picturesque Bezdonnoe (Bottomless) Lake in the depths of the forest. Serebryany Bor’s beaches are the cleanest in the city and very popular among Muscovites. On weekends it is difficult to find a free spot here, especially because a whole range of services are offered to visitors, from simple deckchairs to catamaran and yacht rides. Driving is prohibited on the territory of the island so be ready to use trolleybus to reach the entrance.

Botanichesky Sad

Greenhouse of Botanical Garden

Greenhouse of Botanical Garden

Main Botanical Garden of The Russian Academy of Sciences is the largest and most famous is Moscow. The garden is a real museum of nature with a very rich (more than 18000 types) collection of plants. The park was founded in 1945 at the place of the 17th century Apothecaries’ Gardens. The garden’s collection is turned into botanical expositions, made with use of modern receptions of landscape architecture. Here you can see a tree nursery, a shadow garden, hothouse complex, collection of flowers, a rosary, exposition of coastal plants, garden of continuous blossoming, Japanese garden and expositions of cultural plants and natural flora plants. The biggest part of Garden is the Tree nursery occupying the space of 75 hectares. About 2 thousand wood plants grow here. Another big exposition of the Garden is nature Flora, divided into six botanic-geographical collections: European part of Russia, Caucuses, Central Asia, Siberia and Far East. Pride of the Main Botanical Garden is the collection of tropical, coastal and water plants, which is considered as the best in Europe. The Japanese garden, a great model of Japanese landscape gardening art has a 13-level stone pagoda of the 18th century, stone Japanese lamps, ponds, falls and streams, tea lodges and more than 100 species of the most character Japan plants. It is especially decorative in spring, during Oriental cherry blossoming and in fall, when foliage blazes in crimson colors.

Moscow historic parks

Historic nature parks and estates once were the mansions of the Moscow aristocracy. At that far times the estates were outside the Moscow city limits, but after the city expansion and urbanization, they became easily accessible.

Kolomenskoye

Kolomenskoe

Kolomenskoye Museum and Park

The chief attraction of the park is undoubtedly the stone Church of the Ascension of the Lord. It was constructed in 1532 by order of Tsar Vasily III to commemorate the birth of his son and heir, Ivan the Terrible. But there is a lot more to see in the park: the pretty Church of the Icon of Our Lady of Kazan – with its bright azure domes and plenty of gold. Further into the park there is a charming Church of the Beheading of St John the Baptist, built by Ivan the Terrible to mark his coronation.

Kuskovo

Kuskovo Park

Kuskovo Park is one of the oldest country estates in Moscow. It was given to General Sheremetev by Peter the Great in 1715, but was left to fall into neglect before being plundered by Napoleon’s troops in 1812. Nowadays the estate has been restored to its former glory and is a good example of Russian 18th Century imperial architecture. The palace is a fine and rare example of wooden neoclassicism. It was completed in 1775, and the rich interiors remain unchanged since 1779. It includes a room hung with exclusive exquisite Flemish tapestries, an abundance of silk wallpaper and an impressive collection of 18th century European and Russian paintings. The palace looks onto the lake, which is surrounded by smaller pavilions: pretty Italian, Dutch and Swiss Cottages, Blank’s Hermitage and the old Orangery, where the State Ceramics Museum is located now, an extensive and absorbing collection of porcelain from the 18th century to the present day. On the other side of the lake is a large wood popular with local cyclists and joggers.

What your favorite water and amusement parks in the Philadelphia area are planning for Summer 2024

P HILADELPHIA (CBS) - Dorney Park's got a new roller coaster , Hersheypark has renovated multiple coasters and Six Flags is bringing back its safari a few months before opening —  you guessed it — a roller coaster. Across the Philadelphia region and the Lehigh Valley, theme parks are gearing up for the summer with new offerings and the returns of old favorites.

Across the Greater Philadelphia region - we're talking Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware - you're within driving distance to plenty of amusement parks and water parks friendly to families with kids or single adults.

There's a lot of fun to be had, and some theme parks are already open for the 2024 season and teasing new spaces to explore, returns of well-known older attractions, renovations to rides and much more.

Here are some opening dates, coming attractions and other things to watch in 2024 for theme parks around the Philadelphia area. We hope this will help you plan your next road trip, whether you're a resident or just visiting the region.

Six Flags Great Adventure, Hurricane Harbor, Wild Safari Adventure and Savannah Sunset Resort & Spa in Jackson Township, New Jersey

Up in Jackson, New Jersey, Six Flags Great Adventure is already open for the season, and wanted us to remind students on spring break of that fact.

As part of its spring break sale, Great Adventure is selling diamond passes for $115 each (before taxes and fees), the typical price of the lower-tier platinum pass. The diamond pass gives you unlimited visits to all 27 Six Flags parks and water parks through the 2024 season, discounts on food, a VIP entrance and other benefits.

The sale ends April 14 when diamond passes go back to the original $195 price point.

On Saturday, March 30, Great Adventure brought back its Safari Off Road Adventure, which gives guided tours through the park's safari zone. That's home to 1,200 animals from six continents, including kangaroos, lions, tigers, elephants and giraffes. You can find more about the available species on the Wild Safari Adventure website .

The drive-thru safari where you bring your own vehicle is not part of the fun this year.

There is a new Safari Base Camp with animal exhibits and a play area for kids, along with food stands and gift shops.

Thrillseekers are likely already aware the  FLASH coaster is coming this season (we have not seen an exact date yet) and will also have a themed gift shop.

The Hurricane Harbor water park, which opens May 18, has some new upgrades, too, including a family-friendly area called Splash Island "that boasts a new tree-house play structure and seven slides geared for little splash-seekers."

And a new place to stay is opening just before the start of summer. The  Savannah Sunset Resort and Spa  is open for bookings starting June 14. It's not quite a hotel - this is a chance to go "glamping," or camping with extra amenities, in the heart of the 350-acre safari area at the park. The FAQ page reassures you that the animals can't get right up next to your sleeping quarters. Also, there's a two-night minimum stay.

Jungle Jim's in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware

Jungle Jim's, just off Route 1 on Country Club Road in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, is set to open on Memorial Day Weekend 2024.

Visitors can check out the River Safari Waterpark with a wave pool, lazy river, kids' spray ground and several big water slides.

If you've already dried off from the beach but still want a fun activity - there's a batting cage with the option to hit softballs or baseballs. On top of that, there are two mini-golf courses on the premises.

Burgers, hot dogs, chicken, fries and salads are some of the food options available at the River Safari Cafe.

Funland on the Rehoboth Beach, Delaware Boardwalk

Funland on the Rehoboth Beach boardwalk is opening Saturday, May 11 for the 2024 season. You can check out the full schedule on their website, FunlandRehoboth.com .

Funland has all your boardwalk staples like a carousel, bumper cars and other rides; an arcade, skeeball and carnival games like ring toss.

Dorney Park in Allentown, Pennsylvania

Dorney Park has been building the hype for its new dive roller coaster, Iron Menace , all winter and spring leading up to its opening.

The coaster recently completed a successful test run and there are plenty of videos over on the park's Instagram page showing the ride from above - and even a point-of-view showing what it's like to ride.

Iron Menace is the first coaster built at Dorney in 19 years. Built on about 2,200 feet of steel track, the dive coaster has a 95-degree, 152-foot drop, max speeds up to 64 mph and the first-ever tilted loop on a dive coaster.

If you're planning on visiting the park for the official start of the season, that's May 10, 2024.

But Dorney recently announced that the public will get a chance to ride the new roller coaster during Preseason Preview Days to be held on April 27 and 28, as well as May 4 and 5.

Dorney has also partnered with the local Funk Brewing on the Iron Menace American lager, a new beer named after the coaster.

There is one other chance to ride Iron Menace before Dorney Park opens for the 2024 season - on April 19 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., the park will host the "Ride for a Cause" event benefiting the Eagles Autism Foundation .

All ticket proceeds will go to the organization and there will be appearances by Swoop, the Philadelphia Eagles cheerleaders and a Q&A with an Eagle, whose name has not yet been released.

The minimum price is $75, which includes one ride on the coaster, food, a limited edition Iron Menace/Eagles poster and a photo op with Swoop and the cheerleaders.

For $250 you can get a photo op with the mystery player!

Hersheypark in Hershey, Pennsylvania

Hersheypark is breaking new ground in its 118-year history. It opened on March 29, the earliest opening date ever, the park said.

Some new things at the park include upgrades to the Skyrush coaster - which now has new seats, more comfortable restraints and a new station platform to board the ride with "an all-new paint scheme, lighting effects and custom soundscape."

Comet, the first coaster purchased by Milton S. Hershey, now has new cars and seats .

This is also the first spring that the wood and steel roller coaster Wildcat's Revenge will be open - it first opened to the public in summer 2023.

Tickets and more information on Hersheypark.com.

Clementon Park and Splash World in Clementon, NJ

On Berlin Road just minutes off the White Horse Pike, in Clementon, NJ, Clementon Park and Splash World is gearing up for another season kicking off Saturday, May 25, 2024.

The park is open Fridays and weekends only until June 24  when it begins to be open seven days a week. Some days are blocked out for private events or other closures to be sure to  check the Clementon Park hours page .

Splash World has multiple water slides , a wave pool billed as the largest in South Jersey, a lazy river and an inner tube rapids ride.

You can find a list of  rides in the amusement park section at ClementonPark.com .

Sesame Place in Langhorne, Pennsylvania

You can find Sesame Place on Oxford Valley Road just off Route 1 in Langhorne. The park is currently open with select water attractions set to open May 24 .

Sesame Place has broken ground on a new location for the Sunny Day Carousel, toward the front of the park. This new spot will have more shade for people waiting in line to board the rider. Crews are also working on the 123 Playground, the park shared in a recent construction update.

Through June 16, Elmo's Springtacular will feature multiple character meet-and-greet events including a Bluey meet-and-greet on June 1-2 and a 5K race on May 19.

More details on SesamePlace.com .

Dutch Wonderland in Lancaster, Pennsylvania

Right on Route 30 heading into Lancaster, Dutch Wonderland opened Friday, March 29 for the 2024 season.

The park said there's a new carrot cake funnel cake, a new story time event and more.

Buying a silver, gold or platinum Dutch Wonderland season pass will also get you a discount to the nearby Cartoon Network Hotel . Passes are currently up to $30 off for the season-opening sale.

Morey's Piers in Wildwood, New Jersey

A family-owned Jersey Shore staple, Morey's Piers is getting ready to kick off its 2024 season.

Opening Day at Morey's Piers is set for Friday, May 3, 2024 , according to the Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement and Development Authority.

In a social media video posted on April Fool's Day , the Morey's team joked they were going to replace Curley, the mascot of Curley's Fries, with a waffle fry.

But in truth, Curley is not going anywhere - and as of April, the french fry stand is already open on Fridays and weekends.

If you're planning on hitting the boardwalk this summer and want to plan,  until April 5, there are 15% off discounts available on Wild Passes , water park admission, ticked cards and other items.

Storybook Land in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey

After a short delay due to weather, Storybook Land in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey opened on March 24 .

The park on the Black Horse Pike not far from the Garden State Parkway advertises "fun for the entire family...with special attention given to its youngest members."

Rides of note include the Tea Time teacups, the Tick-Tock Clock Drop and the J&J Railroad.

Your 48-hour tour guide of Moscow this winter!

safari adventure park prices

9 am – Visit the Red Square

Christmas market on Red Square

Christmas market on Red Square

The first thing that every tourist should do by default is visit the very heart of Moscow – it’s main and most beautiful (which ‘krasnaya’ actually meant in Old Russian) square!

There are several ways to explore it:

  • Take a selfie with Spasskaya Tower
  • Have a warm drink at the Christmas market (which lasts until mid-January)
  • Visit Lenin’s Mausoleum
  • Shop in the gorgeous adjacent GUM department store
  • Visit St. Basil’s Cathedral (and learn that it’s actually several churches under one roof).

11 am – It’s Kremlin time!

Inside the Moscow Kremlin

Inside the Moscow Kremlin

Entering the Kremlin is, actually, a bit of a quest, as it’s a presidential facility with no general access. You need to buy a ticket or, better still, book a guided tour. Inside the Kremlin’s walls, you will find ancient cathedrals, in which Russian tsars used to be crowned and buried, as well as explore the magnificent architecture of the Kremlin that reflects the rich history of the country. And, finally, you could also make a quick visit to the Moscow Kremlin Museums and admire artifacts from various Russian tsarist eras: carriages, thrones, crowns and the most incredible armory and jewelry.

For more information, visit the official website of the Kremlin . It’s open from 10 am to 5 pm (and it’s closed on Thursdays) in winter.

2 pm – Watch the changing of the Guard

The honor guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

The honor guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

A very spectacular (and free) thing to do is watch how the honor guard does their ceremonial change at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Eternal Flame, situated in Alexander Garden, right next to the Kremlin wall. Every hour, from 8 am to 8 pm, the 1st Company of the Kremlin (Presidential) Regiment performs this rather old and beautiful tradition. But, be warned, it's often overcrowded.

3 pm – Enjoy a green oasis just in the center

Florarium in Zaryadye

Florarium in Zaryadye

Just a few steps from the Red Square, you will find the fabulous Zaryadye park. Opened in 2017, it is designed by renowned American architect bureau ‘Diller Scofidio + Renfro’. You can walk among the very cozy botanical decorations and explore Russia’s climate zones, as each of them is represented in dedicated areas, complete with flora from those zones.

The floating bridge in Zaryadye Park

The floating bridge in Zaryadye Park

The park also has an underground museum, an “ice cave” and a 3D cinema, where you can take part in a virtual adventure – a flight over Moscow! However, the piece de resistance is a floating boomerang bridge over the Moskva River, one of the best places to take a selfie.

You can also grab a quick lunch or relax with a cup of coffee or tea in the park.

7 pm – Arrange a ballet night

The Bolshoi Theater

The Bolshoi Theater

Of course, the most fancy way to finish your day in Moscow would be to go to the ballet at the Bolshoi Theater (in a perfect world, to see ‘The Nutcracker’!). However, getting tickets to the Bolshoi is not an easy task and should be done well in advance of your visit.

But, don’t be upset if you don’t manage to get tickets to the Bolshoi. Moscow has dozens of other options to see a ballet (or opera). No less brilliant performances can be seen in the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theater or in The State Kremlin Palace (by the way, this is another way to get a quick glimpse inside the Kremlin!).

10:30 pm – Have a late dinner in a fancy restaurant

Dr Zhivago restaurant

Dr Zhivago restaurant

There are not so many other cities with such a big choice of restaurants in a range of tastes and styles. In 2021, the authoritative Michelin guide announced their pick of the best of Moscow’s restaurants. And here’s our guide to all the places with Russian cuisine for any budget. But, if you happen to be in the area of the Bolshoi or Nemirovich-Danchenko Theater, then ‘Dr. Zhivago’ would definitely be a nice option (and it’s open around the clock).

DAY 2

9 am – grab a moscow coffee.

Winter festivities mood in Moscow

Winter festivities mood in Moscow

Moscow is definitely a coffee city! You can find coffee shops on every corner and they all offer a huge range of drinks. Try a ‘raf’ coffee, a sweet, creamy drink that was created in Russia, or dare to pick one of the very unusual offers, like cheese coffee or a Soviet candy style one (check out our coffee guide here ).

10 am – Take a river cruise

Winter boating along the Moskva River

Winter boating along the Moskva River

Another exciting way to explore Moscow is to observe it from the water. Boats cruise along the Moskva River all year round. Most begin their route from the Hotel Ukraine, one of Stalin's ‘Seven Sister’ skyscrapers, and will bring you back to the same spot after passing the medieval Novodevichy Convent, Moscow State University and Luzhniki Stadium, the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour and giant monument to Peter the Great and many other sightseeings.

It’s always at optimum temperature inside the boat, which also has huge panoramic windows. Select boats also offer a full dining experience, so it is also a nice place to have breakfast or lunch.

If you are not a water person, then discover other, unusual sides of Moscow – pick one of the activities we’ve prepared for you here !

1 pm – Visit ‘Russia’ Expo and taste a bunch of Russian regional cuisines

Russia Expo at VDNKh

Russia Expo at VDNKh

Until April 2024, the Soviet-era VDNKh exhibition park is hosting the huge ‘Russia’ expo, with tons of activities and expositions devoted to Russia, its culture, science and nature. Check out our special guide on what to do there!

An entire ‘House of Russian Cuisine’ has been opened at the expo. You will find 15 food stands with flagship dishes from Kamchatka, Siberia, Karelia and other regions of Russia. Imagine trying a range of cuisines and dishes in one place without even having to travel anywhere, be it Altai pelmeni, Tula kalach or Caucasian pies! A perfect place to grab some lunch.

House of Russian cuisines at VDNKh

House of Russian cuisines at VDNKh

The VDNKh exhibition park is a great place to visit, in general! Its pavilions are the perfect example of Stalinit Empire style architecture and you can almost feel as if you’ve traveled back in time! You will also find several interesting museums in the park – devoted to space exploration, Russian history and even a ‘Special Purpose Garage’, which showcases the various vehicles used by the country’s leaders.

'Sun of Moscow' wheel

'Sun of Moscow' wheel

And, finally, you can ride Europe's tallest panoramic wheel – ‘Sun of Moscow’ – that will give you panoramic views of the city – from a height of 140 meters!

5 pm – Ice skate with view & mulled wine

Ice skating rink on Red Square (GUM department store on the background)

Ice skating rink on Red Square (GUM department store on the background)

Ice skating is one of the most popular and affordable activities in Moscow. There are several great ice skating rinks in picturesque locations that are open all winter long. One of the biggest rinks in Europe is also at the aforementioned VDNKh or you can visit the one in Gorky Park, another very popular Moscow spot, or the small, but fancy rink – right on Red Square!

All the parks offer ice skate rental, so the only things you need are warm clothes, a charged phone to record your memories and a good mood!  Moscow also gets dark at 4:30 pm in winter and hundreds of lights are switched on, turning the city into a giant fairy tale!

A mulled wine with a view

A mulled wine with a view

And, if you are not a sports person, we’ve picked several other unusual activities that you could do in Moscow instead. For example, did you know that there is an entire district of dacha (countryside) houses, just 10 minutes from the center, surrounded by giant new highrises? How about taking a stroll there and feeling the early Soviet atmosphere?

8 pm – Warm up & laugh out loud

After all these outdoor activities, what could be better than a warm cozy bar with a hot drink and nice company? Moscow is a city full of entertainment for all tastes. So, if you know the Russian language or want to practice it, go to a theater or catch a stand-up comedy show. Moscow even has comedy shows in English, where you can hear both Russians speaking fluent English or foreigners (including Brits and Americans) who live in Russia speaking in broken or heavily-accented Russian (Check their show dates on the ‘ Moscow English Comedy ’ Telegram channel)!

11 pm – Finish by partying the night away!

Propaganda club in Moscow

Propaganda club in Moscow

Moscow never sleeps, as you might have heard. Which means there are plenty of bars and nightclubs where you can have a drink (or two or three; be sure to check out how Russians make Black Russian and White Russian cocktails) and chat with incredibly different people. Have fun and don’t miss your flight (or miss it and stay longer in the best city in the world!)!

That's it! See you soon in Moscow
