Le personnel prend des photos des manifestants au lieu d'aller servir. Rue très bruyante. une banderole déployée depuis ce balcon ou la fermeture du restaurant les jours de manifestations seraient bienvenues. Attention aux vitrines.

Basic good food and drinks. A nice terrace at the main shopping street ov Tour devoid of cars, only some noiseless electric trams. The oysters from Mont Saint Michel were perfect. The steak tartare clearly hand cut to give the perfect texture. And the Munster... cheese with Marc of gewurtztraminer flambé at the table was new for me and tasted exciting. This centrally located chain restaurant sits in a prime spot on the Rue Nationale. The menu promises a diverse range of quality local dishes, focusing on seafood, but doesn't entirely deliver. We really only popped into this tavern to shelter from the rain, but we decided to sample the local beer and wine. It took ages to get served and in fairness the staff were rushing to get furniture from the street in out of the... storm, but it still took some time after that. Our waitress was very surly and not the least bit welcoming. But the Karlsbrau was a decent beer. There are dozens of other bars that I would go to before returning here. More

A Sunday evening meal wanted and we were recommended to try the Brasserie. There was a good choice of dishes available and the prices reasonable. We chose a meat dish and a fish dish and both of us were very pleased with what we received.... The service was good and efficient. No long wait despite the restaurant being quite busy. The waitress tried very hard to speak some English, but was quite relieved when she found we had slightly better French. A pleasant evening meal is great to find when you do not know where to go in a new town to you. More

Before Covid we'd often eat at Les Relais d'Alsace, not least because my wife loves a Plateau de Fruits de Mer and my late Father in Law loved Steak Tartare - both of which this restaurant excelled at. It was therefore disappointing to hear from... friends that the restaurant had apparently closed. In Aurillac last week, we drove by the old restaurant site and saw that an establishment called La Taverne was up and running. Taking a chance, we parked up and luckily found ourselves at a window table for 6 in a bustling and friendly vibed restaurant. Then, to our surprise, up to our table came one of the waiters we'd known when it was The Relais. Pleasantries exchanged, drinks quickly served and food on the way we sat back and enjoyed the atmosphere. It was like old times - marvellous! 2 hours later we waved goodbye, having eaten wonderfully well. Beers for the boys, soft drinks for the girls. We then had a shared Flammenkuche for starters, 3 superb burgers; a cheese and local meats salad; a Choucroute de la Mer and a fabulous platter of Fruits de Mer - which at €45 was expensive, but to quote 'she who must be obeyed' was worth every centime. Add 2 bottles of Gascogne Rosé, coffees and a glass of red and a final bill of €190.30 seemed to us a total bargain. We'll be back again soon, especially as from the works going on in front of the restaurant it looks like there will be lots of outside tables come the summer. So, in summary, sorry to lose you Relais d"Alsace, but a big thumbs up welcome to La Taverne. (And thank you for a fabulous lunch!) More

We visited this relais specifically because it said on its website that it sold dark beer. We arrived about twenty minutes after it opened in the evening, when it was virtually empty. We were asked to sit outside (because we weren’t going to eat? Because... one of us was wearing shorts?) which we agreed to do: but before going, we made our way to the bar to see what beers were on tap. The staff could not cope with this. They kept telling us to go outside. When we finally persuaded them to tell us what they had on tap, we were told not to have the dark ale as we wouldn’t like it. We insisted, and it was in fact very good - although sweet. We were also asked to pay when the drinks were delivered , which is rare in France. Two mature English visitors were unlikely to do a runner, but still... Then the card machine would not work. We weren’t carrying cash, and it took them several iterations to get their system to work (a problem with the line, we were told).
