Party Safari: Education  is IMPORTANT

Please limit birthday party sizes to around ten kids. (There is an additional fee for over twenty kids.) Hand sanitizer will be provided and used by participants between each animal. Party Safari staff will wear a mask if anyone in the party would like.

Birthday Parties

Since then, we have added education as a cornerstone to the Party Safari experience.

Our knowledgeable staff will teach your family and friends about the amazing animals we bring. Hopefully this experience will impact your kids and help them become great stewards of our world. That is the whole point.

The cost for a one-hour birthday party is  $250 with 12 animals.

WE ALSO OFFER ADULT ANIMAL PRESENTATIONS AT THE SAME RATES. If your birthday is a formal event, please let us know so we dress appropriately. (Nothing like champagne with tarantulas and snakes for a memorable evening.)

This includes:

Up to 30-min travel time to the event location  (>30-min incurs $25 fee; >45-min incurs $50 fee; >one-hour incurs $75 fee); 30-min set up before and 30-min breakdown after the event takes place; transfer of animals to the presentation site; a carpet to cover flooring incase an animal goes to the bathroom during a presentation; and hand sanitizer for everyone who decides to touch an animal during the presentation.  The price listed is for groups of less than 20 kids. >20 kids incurs a $50 fee .

Please Contact Us for availability.

Classroom Setting

Party Safari is all about education. As such, we offer a discount to schools in a classroom setting with less than 26 students for a one-hour presentation (this is the average class size for CO schools in 2012).  We also offer a $50 discount to classrooms for a two-hour session.

The cost for a one-hour school presentation in a classroom setting is

$200 with 12 animals.

The cost for a two-hour school presentation in a classroom setting is

$375 with 12 animals.

Other Educational Settings

We welcome summer programs, after-school programs, and daycares with less than 26 participants per presentation.

Sometimes summer programs or after school programs desire more than 25 people in smaller time increments (i.e. 30 kids in 30-min time-slots) or are further away in drive-time. Pricing and number of animals brought to a presentation will depend upon specifics like travel time, number of students, number of presentations scheduled per institution, and length of presentation(s).    Presentations at locations greater than one-hour drive time from Parker , CO, will incur an additional $75 fee.  Please Contact Us  for appropriate invoices.

The cost for a one-hour misc. educational presentation is  $225 with 12 animals.

The cost for a two-hour misc. educational presentation is  $375 with 12 animals.

The cost for three, 30-min misc. educational presentations, is $300 with 6 animals.

The cost for two, 45-min misc. educational presentations, is  $300 with 9 animals.

The cost for three, 45-min misc. educational presentations, is  $450 with 9 animals.

The cost for any presentation with over one hundred total kids  is a minimum of  $450.

Up to 30-min travel time to the event location (>30-min incurs $25 fee; >45-min incurs $50 fee; >one-hour incurs $75 fee); 30-min set up before and 30-min breakdown after the event takes place; transfer of animals to presentation site; a carpet to cover flooring incase an animal goes to the bathroom during a presentation; and hand sanitizer for everyone who decides to touch an animal during the presentation.  The price listed is for groups of less than 26 people.  Prices are listed for consecutive classes only.

PARTY SAFARI RULES

1. You do not have to touch an animal if you do not want to.

This usually involves a parent wanting their child to touch something that they are wary of, or a student experiencing peer pressure. If such a situation occurs, Party Safari staff will kindly remind the group that individuals are free to choose to watch from a distance if they desire. Sometimes this understanding allows the person to approach a similar animal later in the presentation, and may help them get over their fears.

2. You must be gentle with an animal if you decide to touch it.

People often forget that we are much more likely to hurt these animals, then they are to  hurt us. Children are required to sit down and extend two hands if they desire to hold an animal. (Touching sometimes leads to poking, so “holding” is the preferred method on some  species.) Our Party Safari staff will watch those involved and judge whether or not they will respect the safety of our animals. If our staff deems someone too nervous or an animal too stressed for a particular situation, that person or that animal will be skipped. This is non-negotiable and at the discretion of our Party Safari staff.

I am always asked, “Does this animal bite?” The answer is, “Every animal bites something. I just don’t want it to bite you.” Therefore, bodies of animals will be held, and their heads will not be touched. *** Party Safari is insured, but we do not want anyone to have a negative experience.

4. Everyone that chooses to touch an animal MUST WASH THEIR HANDS  afterwards.

Reptiles can transmit Salmonella (just like raw eggs and raw chicken). Food will not be consumed during a presentation and all participants MUST WASH THEIR HANDS after the last animal has been presented. (Multiple hand-washing throughout a presentation is fine.)

***Hand sanitizer is provided at every Party Safari event by our staff.

We have you covered if you haven’t decided on where in Maine you’re going to watch the 2024 eclipse.

The total solar eclipse on Monday will see the moon pass in front of the sun, completely blocking the celestial body, for up to 3½ minutes. The phenomenon will plunge the sky into near-darkness at around 3:30 p.m. along the path of totality.

The last time a total solar eclipse passed directly over Maine was in 1963 .

Check out these watch parties and viewing locations in various towns in the direct path of the celestial event. Hosting a viewing party you want us to know about? Email us at [email protected].

Aroostook County

Starting at 9 a.m., a number of designated “star parks” will be open to parking across Houlton . Best watch parties, safe viewing places for April 8 solar eclipse in Palm Beach County

As the total solar eclipse approaches on April 8, 2024 , residents of Palm Beach County are gearing up for an unusual viewing experience. Watch parties are being organized across the county, offering enthusiasts a chance to witness this rare event in the company of fellow sky-gazers.

Anticipation is building around the country as viewers prepare for the breathtaking moment when the moon completely obscures the sun, plunging the area into an eerie twilight.

In Palm Beach County, which is more than 1,000 miles from the eastern edge of the April 8 path of totality , about 50% of the sun will be covered by the moon. West Palm Beach will see about half of the sun covered beginning at 1:48 p.m. Maximum coverage will occur at 3:03 p.m.

Community groups, astronomy clubs and science centers are orchestrating events to provide safe viewing opportunities and educational experiences for attendees. Specialized solar-viewing glasses and telescopes equipped with solar filters will be available to ensure that spectators can observe the eclipse safely.

Here are a few notable ones in Palm Beach County and South Florida.

Palm Beach Gardens

This free family event will include viewing glasses, craft projects, snacks, safety information and a presentation about solar eclipses. Guests are encouraged to bring a blanket or chair for viewing. All ages are welcome.

The viewing party is at Mirasol Park, located at 12385 Jog Road in Palm Beach Gardens, from 2 to 3:30 p.m.

West Palm Beach

Cox Science Center: The Cox Science Center will allow guests to view this partial solar eclipse inside the observatory, which holds South Florida's largest publicly available telescope. The 10-foot refracting telescope with solar filters will allow space enthusiasts to view the eclipse safely without the need of solar glasses. The viewing is included with regular general admission to the Science Center. General admission is $24 for adults; $20 for children 3-12; $22 for seniors (ages 60 and above). The viewing party is at Cox Science Museum, located at 4801 Dreher Trail North , West Palm Beach, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

West Palm Beach City Hall Courtyard: The West Palm Beach Downtown Development Authority is hosting an eclipse viewing party in the courtyard at City Hall from 2 to 4 p.m. Snacks, coffee and water will be available for purchase by Salento Coffee. DD will distribute free eclipse glasses during the watch party. And Dr. Steven Schiff from the Astronomical Society of the Palm Beaches will be at the event with a telescope equipped with a solar filter, allowing a close-up view of the eclipse and provide pinhole paper for those who wish to experience the eclipse without glasses. City Hall is located at 401 Clematis St. in downtown West Palm Beach.

Florida Atlantic University’s observatory  in Boca Raton will host a 'Sidewalk Astronomy Event' on the university's East Lawn next to the building from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. At the event, the school will distribute safe eclipse viewing glasses and provide a demonstration on how to use them safely. They will also have models that discuss eclipses, as well as telescopes set up to safely observe the celestial passage.

Other eclipse watch parties and viewing locations in South Florida

  • The Museum of Discovery and Science in Fort Lauderdale ( 401 SW 2nd Street ) from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
  • Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science in Miami ( 1101 Biscayne Boulevard ): Noon to 4:30 p.m.

What time is the eclipse in West Palm Beach?

For the West Palm Beach area, the eclipse will begin on April 8 at about 1:48 p.m., hit maximum visibility at around 3:03 p.m. and end at around 4:15 p.m.

At the time of maximum visibility in West Palm Beach, around 49% of the sun will be covered by the moon.

What time is the eclipse? How long will it last? What will it look like?

Where can I get free eclipse glasses for safe viewing?

Palm Beach County is preparing for the  April 8 total solar eclipse , which is the last one to cross the continental United States until 2045. That means buying  special eclipse glasses  because normal sun glasses — even those with the darkest lenses — aren't enough to protect eyes from damaging rays. Don't fry your eyes by wearing normal sunglasses during the eclipse. Here is where to get free glasses in Palm Beach County.

Press Release  DCR Announces Free Solar Eclipse Viewing Events and Programming at Parks Across the State

Media contact   for dcr announces free solar eclipse viewing events and programming at parks across the state, ilyse wolberg, dcr deputy communications director.

Boston — The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) is inviting   families to witness the near-total solar eclipse on Monday, April 8, 2024, at eight state parks across Massachusetts. Each park will host educational programs and provide guided viewing sessions. DCR is also offering visitors free, safe viewing glasses that filter out harmful ultraviolet and infrared rays, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in this celestial spectacle. DCR encourages attendees to follow recommended safety guidelines when viewing the solar eclipse.

“This partial solar eclipse is a unique opportunity for people of all ages to connect with the world around them and witness the wonders of the universe,” said DCR Commissioner Brian Arrigo. “We're excited to offer educational opportunities for the public to learn about the science behind eclipses and witness this awe-inspiring event firsthand.”

A total solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes directly between the Earth and the Sun, blocking the face of the sun. Massachusetts is not in the path of the totality for the April 8 eclipse – it will instead have a partial total eclipse with more than 85 percent of the view that will be visible from various locations across the state. Eclipses like this are rare and DCR parks are a great place to experience them.

DCR’s eclipse programming includes a solar system tour where visitors can walk through 12 stations across a half mile, an eclipse folding craft, and a make your own sun clock activity. DCR is also providing information on alternative ways to view the eclipse including interlacing your fingers to create small apertures, closing your fist to make a pinhole viewer, projecting an image of the sun through a perforated spoon or colander, and creating a pinhole viewer with a sheet of paper.

To celebrate this phenomenon, DCR will host programs from 2:20 p.m. to 4:20 p.m. at the following locations:

Blackstone River and Canal Heritage State Park , 287 Oak St., Uxbridge, MA 01569

Blue Hills Reservation , 840 Hillside St, Milton, MA 02186

Borderland State Park , 259 Massapoag Ave., North Easton, MA 02356

Nickerson State Park , 3488 Main St., Brewster, MA 02631

Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve , 131 Waquoit Hwy., East Falmouth, MA 02536

Halibut Point State Park , 4 Gott Ave., Rockport, MA 01966

Great Falls Discovery Center , 2 Ave. A, Turners Falls, MA 01376

Mt. Greylock State Reservation , 30 Rockwell Road, Lanesborough, MA 01237. Please note the Summit Road at Mount Greylock State Reservation is currently closed for the season.

For a full list of the eclipse programs that will be held at DCR parks visit the agency’s eclipse webpage . DCR is previewing these programs to the public with a social media video . All programs are free and open to the public and children must be accompanied by an adult.

DCR’s partner, Boston Harbor Now (BHN), is also hosting an eclipse viewing event, [Not Quite] Total Eclipse of the Park, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on DCR’s Spectacle Island. To purchase tickets for the event visit BHN’s website . Additionally, participants should be at Long Wharf at 12:30 p.m. to board the ferry which will leave promptly at 1 p.m. and return at 5 p.m.

DCR’s eclipse programming is part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to provide Massachusetts children, families, and residents with fun, safe and educational recreational opportunities.

A Safari party is perfect on so many levels. For a start it is great for not only birthday’s, but also baby showers and christenings.

It also works as a great party theme for both boys and girls. You could say in a way that it is the perfect party theme, one which all party guests will have a great time.

Everyone will certainly have the time of their life at a Safari party. With it’s striking decor, it’s adorable characters and it’s capacity for wild adventures, this is a party that everyone is going to love.

How Do I Decorate For A Safari Party?

Decorating for a safari theme party is going to be a LOT of fun. There are a lot of safari party supplies that can be purchased, as well as using other items found in the dollar store.

Whilst there are some specific party ideas further down the post with decorating ideas, the simplest way to decorate the party space is to stick to the earthy colors. Think of brown, green, yellow, orange and white as a good starting point and it’s easy to build from there.

It is a good idea to create a party backdrop . This can easily be achieved using budget friendly plastic tablecloth’s in your chosen party colors.

Next create some tissue paper garlands to hang around the area and suddenly you already have the perfect jungle feel. Make some vines by twisting together brown craft paper. Add vine and palm leaves to them for extra effect.

If you have any stuffed safari animals, use them as decoration props. It is also a great idea to look out for them at second hand shops.

Add some animal cutouts, animal print balloons and even some inflatable animals for some extra wild touches to the jungle theme party.

Real Safari Party Ideas

Use these real Safari parties to give you an idea of how to put the party together. Each of these parties takes a slightly different spin on the Safari theme.

The great thing about a themed party is that no two parties are exactly the same!

Typical Jungle Safari Party

Source: A Pumpkin and A Princess

This jungle Safari party is simply amazing. The party decor, the earthy color scheme, the funky cake and the simple yet delicious table display. It all works together perfectly.

The hanging rosettes are totally gorgeous and look awesome set back against the striking green leaves.

Cheetah Party

Source: A Small Snippett .

Another great way to hold a Safari party is to focus on one aspect of Safari. In this instance it’s the cheetah.

The cheetah print everywhere looks awesome. It’s even included on the ties on the chairs. Having the cheetah print as the focal point ensures that everything blends together perfectly.

Madagascar Safari Party

Source: Love Every Detail

For some amazing Safari party ideas, you can’t go past Madagascar. This is certainly a party that is deep in Safari.

The cupcake toppers are sensational and even the ‘dirt’ cups look delicious. Everything is matched perfectly with printable’s and the colors are bold and striking.

Venturing up to this party table, you are literally walking into the jungle.

Baby Shower Safari Party

Source: Stix N Pops

A Safari party makes a gorgeous theme for a baby shower.

The cupcake tower with the cake on top is stunning and creates a fantastic table feature. The baby curled up on top of the cake is just adorable.

This is a fun and cheeky party, and would certainly be a lot of fun for a mum to be.

Pastel Safari Party

Source: Grey Grey Designs .

Pastel decoration might not instantly be the decor that comes to mind when you think of a Safari party, but this example goes to show that it can be done.

Everything looks like you would see it in a nursery, the baby spin on the party is simply delightful. The cupcake display has to be my favorite part of the table display.

Safari Party Food Ideas

There are so many fun themed treats that you can make for a Safari party.

Creating theme food adds to the fun and helps to create the jungle atmosphere. For simplicity, stick to finger foods.

Some easy Safari food ideas include:

  • Delicious and also fun monkey pops . This is an easy recipe and the monkey heads are available as a free printable.
  • Kids love jello and this is so easy to have available at the party. Stick to jello in safari colors where possible.
  • Have a fruit station. Fruit will always be found on safari, so this is a great excuse to get some healthy food into the kids.
  • It would also be fun to use some vegetables and turn them into animal faces. For example, use carrot sticks to create a lion’s face with drip bowls for eyes, cauliflower for the nose and slices of mushrooms for the mouth. Or perhaps slice a cucumber and lay it out as a snake.
  • Obtain an animal cookie cutter of choice for some fun cookies

Fun Safari Games & Activites

To throw the most awesome Safari party, it’s important to have some games. Examples include:

  • A spin on Simon Says. Instead of saying Simon says, you could say, “The jungle says to swing your arms like an elephant”.
  • Safari animal scavenger hunt.
  • Sleeping lions. Play some music and when the music stops, the kids fall to the ground and lay as still as they can.
  • Jungle Animal Charades
  • Pin the tail on a (Safari animal of choice)
  • Have someone available for face painting an assortment of jungle animal face masks.
  • Create a craft table where the kids can color in jungle animal masks.
  • Make a pair of binoculars by taping two toilet rolls together and fixing some string to the ends so they can hang around the children’s necks.
  • Create a photo booth with safari props and animal party hats.

Safari-Themed Birthday Party Favors

Kid love to explore their goodie bags end the end of a party. There are lots of party favors that you could include that match the theme of the party such as:

  • Plastic little animals
  • Animal stickers
  • Tiger tails
  • Animal tattoos
  • Animal eye masks

A Safari party is a whole lot of fun for the entire family. The kids might like to dress up in their favorite Safari animal costume or as a Safari explorer to really feel like they are entering the jungle together.

With the striking party decor and some fun themed food and games, this party is going to be a roaring success.

😮‍💨 IOWA ESCAPES: Hawkeyes win, will face South Carolina for national title

Even when Caitlin Clark's shot is off target, it's still somehow right where it needs to be.

UConn had handled the Clark problem nearly perfectly, limiting her to just 7 of 18 shooting and forcing the typically suave superstar into a choppy offensive outing, and as Iowa led by two in the closing seconds, her typically automatic free throw clattered off the front rim. Sydney Affolter leapt right into the path of Clark's miss, however, securing Iowa's possession on a jump ball, and a savvy inbound maneuver ensured Iowa escaped with a 71-69 victory, advancing to Sunday's national championship game with South Carolina.

While Clark headlines Iowa's top-ranked offense, it was UConn that looked flawless from the field early on, nailing 5 of 8 field goals to start, including both of its 3-point attempts, and leading 13-7 at the first media timeout.  With a rotation dwindled to only six by grueling injury luck, the Huskies leaned heavily on its stars to build a 32-26 halftime lead. Familiar suspects Paige Bueckers and Aaliyah Edwards hooked up on a sweet transition bucket out of the first intermission, ultimately finishing the second quarter with nine combined points, but KK Arnold proved to be a crucial piece for Geno Auriemma's squad. The freshman had finished with more than 10 points just once in her last six outings but had already crossed double-figures by halftime, also dishing out three assists and grabbing a rebound.

A flurry of gritty Bueckers buckets, who joined with Edwards to lead the Huskies with 17 points, kept UConn ahead early in the second half, but Clark managed to swing the momentum with a stunning four-point play. From there, Hannah Stuelke, the game's leading scorer with 23, knocked down four straight free throws, and Iowa regained the lead for the first time since 2-0 at 47-45.

Iowa would grow its lead as large as nine midway through the fourth quarter thanks to an untimely Husky scoring drought, and while ravenous UConn defense forced consecutive Iowa turnovers and gave Connecticut a chance at the victory down just one, an offensive foul call on Edwards set up Clark's free throw magic and sent her squad to another national title game.

🥶 KATE. MARTIN. Gutsy bucket gives Iowa late lead

As Caitlin Clark struggled with erraticism throughout a difficult afternoon, Kate Martin has been the assurgent hero in the Hawkeye backcourt. The veteran guard has 11 points and a collection of timely buckets that have helped Iowa hold its late lead.

None have been bigger than her most recent attempt, a turnaround fader from just inside the left elbow that proved pure. Martin's second-straight bucket gives Iowa a 70-64 lead with less than two minutes remaining.

💪 Hawkeyes in control: Huge run puts Hawkeyes on the precipice

➡️ into the 4th: iowa-uconn tied at 51.

One of the most anticipated games of the tournament has lived up to the hype in every way, tied at 51 entering the fourth quarter with Paige Bueckers leading the Huskies in scoring while Caitlin Clark eyes yet another triple-double.

The NCAA.com crew has you covered live from Cleveland for the final 10 minutes, so stay tuned!

😳 FOUR-POINT PLAY: Caitlin Clark 3 through contact sparks Hawkeye run

Caitlin Clark provided her own inspiration on a rough 4 of 13 shooting night, nailing a 3-pointer before being driven to the floor and igniting a thunderous roar from the Iowa fans. The Hawkeye sensation nailed her attempt at the line, and Hannah Stuelke sandwiched a Geno Auriemma timeout with two perfect trips to the foul line, giving Iowa its first lead since the game's opening seconds at 47-45.

💪 Paige takeover: Bueckers on fire to start second half

With Iowa clawing itself even after a stirring start to the second half, All-American Paige Bueckers rallied once more with a dominant stretch for the undermanned Huskies. The Minnesotan has scored seven points in the first five minutes out of the locker room and is torching Iowa at all levels, stepping into an audacious rhythm 3 before sealing her defender for an easy two.

Bueckers' efforts have helped the Huskies reclaim a five-point edge at the third quarter media timeout.

👌 Big 3: Bueckers, Edwards and Arnold lead UConn to halftime lead

Devastated by five season-ending injuries, UConn's now six-woman rotation has leaned heavily on its stars to build a 32-26 halftime lead.

Familiar suspects Paige Bueckers and Aaliyah Edwards hooked up on a sweet transition bucket out of the first intermission, ultimately finishing the second quarter with nine combined points, but KK Arnold continued to be a crucial piece for Geno Auriemma's squad. The freshman had finished with more than 10 points just once in her last six outings but has already crossed double-figures by halftime, also dishing out three assists and grabbing a rebound.

Meanwhile, Caitlin Clark's struggles continue, finishing the half just 3 of 11, and a short-armed missed produced a long rebound and allowed Bueckers to stem a late-half Hawkeye run and convert at the rim just before the horn. Here's a look at the complete box score from half 1.

🕒 First quarter update: UConn leads after tough Clark quarter

With a packed crowd at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse primed to roar every time Caitlin Clark touches the ball, the Hawkeye megastar has instead struggled. The newly crowned AP Player of the Year has managed just two points in the first quarter on 1 of 5 shooting, along with a turnover. The opportunistic Huskies took full advantage, as pass-first point guard Nika Muhl drilled two of her own 3s, and the Huskies led by as much as eight.

Hannah Stuelke offset Clark's struggles — at least in part — with a pair of tough finishes at the rim, and Iowa's Kylie Feuerbach drilled a 3 at the quarter's end, bringing the score to 19-14.

🔥 UConn scorches the net to take early lead

For all the fanfare Caitlin Clark and her transcendent shooting have generated in recent months, is the Huskies that can't miss in the early going. UConn has nailed 5 of 8 field goals to start, including both of its 3-point attempts, and leads 13-7 at the first media timeout.

The Huskies' third-option KK Arnold is stepping into the spotlight in Cleveland, drilling a triple and converting a tough and-one, star guard Paige Bueckers hit a flawless mid-range pull-up and Nika Muhl knocked in a rare 3-ball of her own.

Inside a sold-out MVP Arena, Iowa escaped from the jaws of the LSU Tigers in a 2023 national championship rematch in the 2024 Elite Eight. Behind a 41-point, 12-assist performance by Caitlin Clark, the Hawkeyes built an 11-point advantage at the end of the third to eventually top the third-ranked Tigers, 94-87.

The Huskies rounded out their regular season with a dominant 36-point win over Georgetown for their fourth consecutive Big East championship. They've since battled Jackson State, Syracuse, Duke and Southern California to reach the Final Four. In their first three tournament games, the Huskies held their opponents to scoring just 57.6 points on average. UConn faced its tallest task yet in Southern California, putting up an 11-point run in the fourth period to knock out Juju Watkins and the top-seeded Trojans.

Their matchup against Iowa will be their 23rd national semifinal, the most of any school.

📖 UConn vs. Iowa: Series history

The series history of these two powerhouses only dates back to two matchups in just the last four seasons — UConn leads the all-time series 2-0. The teams first met in the Sweet 16 of the 2021 March Madness women's tournament , during which UConn routed the Hawkeyes by 20 points (92-72) and made a Final Four run. This was also the freshman season of stars Paige Bueckers and Caitlin Clark — in their first collegiate matchup against each other, the Bueckers and Clark put up 18 and 21 respective points.

The only other meeting between these two teams occurred a year and a half later in the championship game of the first Phil Knight Legacy women's tournament. UConn beat Iowa by a 86-79 margin, with Aaliyah Edwards notching a 20-point, six-assist performance for the Huskies.

African elephant attack leaves 80-year-old woman dead, safari truck flipped, african safari woman killed in elephant attack ... flips truck on video.

An elderly woman was killed in Africa during a safari trip -- this after an elephant charged her party's vehicle ... and flipped it over, which left her fatally wounded.

The unidentified woman 80-year-old was on a safari Saturday in Zambia at the Kafue National Park -- and at one point in the excursion, a bull elephant charges their truck ... and rams into it head-on, all of which was captured in a dramatic video.

The elephant tips over the vehicle, and you can hear panicked screams from the tour guide as well as the patrons -- including what sounds like the woman who actually died.

A chief executive of a conservation and hospitality company called Wilderness Safaris -- which was heading up this trip -- later confirmed that an American tourist had been killed in the attack ... and that another female guest had been seriously injured, and was flown to a hospital.

Four other guests who were part of this safari were treated on-site for minor injuries, and were provided trauma counseling as well.

In terms of how this happened, Wildness says the guide's route became blocked by the terrain and vegetation as they were driving along -- and that they didn't have enough time to move the vehicle out of the way before the elephant could hit them.

Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.

They called the incident "extremely tragic" and sent their condolences to the victim's family.
