Visit the Gibson Factory Nashville

The 8,000-square-foot Gibson Garage offers the premier guitar experience for professional musicians, casual guitarists, and music fans. It includes a state-of-the-art stage for live concerts and virtual live-streaming performances; a public retail sector stocked with electric guitars from Gibson, Epiphone, Kramer KRK, and Mesa Boogie brands; a repair & restoration center; as well as historical memorabilia displays.

Experience one of the many attractions at Gibson Garage with a tour of their guitar production plant. On this guided tour, guests witness guitar construction from start to finish and even get an up-close view of the wood shop where imported and domestic lumber is used in crafting guitars.

One of the more fascinating aspects of this factory tour is witnessing the chambering process that goes into creating a guitar’s body. While highly automated, it can also take an immense amount of time. That is why most Gibson guitars have lifetime warranties and are built to last.

On this tour, visitors are treated to the surprise of a room filled with vintage guitars that have lain dormant for years. Not just any old guitars, though – these are some of Gibson’s most prized and sought-after models from its history!

Finally, there is the Artist Lounge, designed as an Artist Relations Center, content creation space, and Green Room for performing artists. Here, Gibson Brand Ambassadors like Jared James Nichols and Lzzy Hale can work and perform in a comfortable atmosphere.

The Collections

One year after relaunching with new leadership, relevant guitars, a compelling vision, and widespread industry support, Gibson, the all-American-made instrument brand, still exceeds expectations. This includes historical accuracy, contemporary updates, signature collections, customized creations, award-winning guitars, improved quality control, and more incredible artist and fan engagement than ever before.

At just a 10-minute walk away from Broadway’s neon glow and lively nightlife, Gibson Garage provides players and fans with more than just an everyday retail experience. Featuring lessons, historical exhibits, and frequent live performances, this venue has quickly become one of Nashville’s must-visits.

On Thursday night, Gibson hosted an opening night party at Wildhorse Saloon with live performances by Jason Isbell, Nathaniel Rateliff, Jim James (My Morning Jacket), Chris Isaak, Lee Roy Parnell, Ray Wylie Hubbard Temecula Road Honey County Aaron Lee Tasjan Travis Denning Parmalee Cassadee Pope and Jayden Tatasciore Ben Goldsmith Reece Malone and Carter Wilkinson. With rocking sets alongside intimate performances of hits and fan favorites alike, everyone joined on stage for an electrifying finale that saw all guests join forces on stage for one last wild finale!

Electric Herald

Inside the Gibson Guitar Factory

Tennessee is mostly known for its whisky, the country music hall of fame, and the Gibson Guitar factory. For any guitarist, the prospect of seeing how one of the oldest electric guitar manufacturers builds its instruments is probably pretty exciting. For a luthier, it could fuel your contempt for the company or give you some reaffirmation about your own position. It’s easy to think that a massive company like Gibson would just be a series of CNC machines, auto-sprayers, and a chain of underpaid peons whose knowledge of guitars does not extend beyond their tasks.

guitar tour nashville

In reality, the construction and assembly line is a group of extremely knowledgeable and passionate people working hard to keep up with the demand – the Gibson Guitar Factory Tour gives you a chance to see how they manage to consistently create quality instruments with a human touch.

When I say “the Gibson Guitar Factory”, I’m actually referring to two separate factories – both in Tennessee. There seems to be a lot of confusion as to which factory does what – it’s pretty simple: the Gibson Memphis factory is where their hollow and semi-hollow bodied models are made (ES-XXX, Lucille, anything with a Bigsby). The Gibson USA factory in Nashville takes care of the solid-body builds (Les Paul, SG, Explorer, Firebird, etc).

Each offer a tour that’ll allow you to see their luthiers at work while giving you an interesting history lesson and some insight into their processes.

The Nashville Factory

The Gibson Showcase tour in Nashville includes a visit to the rough factory, which is where all of the raw wood is ripped down, book-matched, rough-cut, glued, and sanded.

guitar tour nashville

Of particular interest here is the chambering process – this is a sort of controversial subject in the world of Gibson Guitars due to the company previously having made adjustments to their original boring pattern to achieve a lightweight body. Many enthusiasts complained about a significant decrease in sustain and tonal changes – if you ever sell a vintage Gibson, don’t be surprised if you have a stream of buyers questioning and obsessing over the weight of the guitar.

The rough factory tour shows that even in Gibson’s most mechanized manufacturing process, the care and innovation is still there – they listened to their players and made suitable compromises to the chambering pattern to keep the center of the body solid and retain its tonal qualities.

All of the wood for the necks is kiln-dried and thoroughly inspected, and there seems to be no oversight in the whole process – the entire factory’s climate is controlled by a monitoring system that uses water sprayers on the ceiling to keep the air-moisture at a constant.

Gibson also includes an RFID tag on each of their fretboards coming from the rough factory – this allows them to keep tabs on their inventory as well as verify authenticity (in newer models, at least).

Gibson’s Critics on the Factory Tour

Gibson is one of the earliest electric guitar companies and is responsible for a lot of the innovation that has made this instrument popular and playable (ex.; truss rods). While Gibson’s guitar factory tour is impressive, it’s also an example of what many critics of the company and of larger manufacturers in general despise.

“Not a single guitar passed through the hands of a luthier”

That’s a comment I found on a YouTube video about the factory that I found intriguing. I don’t know of the critics are just an extremely vocal minority or if the quality of the company’s manufacturing process has truly declined, but I have to assume that the shear volume of instruments being built there to fulfill orders worldwide is going to let a percentage of inferior ones slip through.

While the manufacturing process begins with a more mechanized approach, the human touch becomes more prominent as the guitars move along the assembly line – each guitar that’s built here has had many hands on it, but the number of people who are qualified to give it a passing grade before being shipped out is very few. Of course there’s human error that comes along with human touch, but that error has to get by some people who have been with the company for a long time and know what to look for.

Some of the rage against the company is very specific, focusing on pickup or bridge placement being off by millimeters, and virtually everyone with something negative to say is going to tell you that the company’s prices are not justified. I agree with the price points being quite high, but I have no criticism of the way they’re building them. I especially liked that they created a machine to analyze and level the frets.

Just bought another Les Paul and love it. It is the Blueberry burst. I would love to check out the factory next time I am in Nashville. The wife and I love Nashville.

I purchased a new 335 custom Gibson from the Garage about a month or so, the experience was wonderful and was treated so kind. I’ve always wanted a 335 and Mat was so helpful and made my purchase so easy. He even had a technician Paul to come put my favorite gauge of strings on and set the guitar up so wonderful. I can’t wait to return and I will soon. Thank you so much Gibson Garage. Benny Voiles

The Ultimate Gibson Experience in Nashville TN

  • June 9, 2021

Gibson Garage

As if you didn’t already have enough great places to visit when you come to Music City; from the Grand Ole Opry to the Country Music Hall of Fame, Music Row, Broadway, the Ryman Auditorium and who could forget the Bluebird Cafe? The Gibson Garage is set for its Grand Opening on Wednesday June 9th with a ribbon cutting and live music performances all day long. The schedule includes Maggie Rose, Celisse, Filmore, Meghan Lindsey & Tyler Cain, Striking Matches and a ‘Gibson Gives’ benefit in the evening.

Fortunately, Maverick Country was able to achieve the full tour of the Gibson Garage long before the opening. Located in historic Cummins Station, near the Union Station in Nashville TN, the Gibson Garage is within walking distance of most Downtown hotels. Director of Gibson Brand Experience, Mark Agnesi, provided me a personal tour throughout the expansive garage. When you walk in through the front doors the first thing, you’ll notice are almost 200 guitars rotating over your head and around the room. This is to give you the feeling of how guitars are dried in the actual Gibson Guitar factory on the other side of Nashville. Each brand of the Gibson banner is on display and available for you to play in the Gibson Garage. What I mean is this is not a museum it is an interactive space where the public is encouraged to play, plug in and engage with musical products first hand. Essentially it is like a giant toy store for musicians and artists where you are allowed to touch and play with the merchandise.

Agnesi, who is also the host of Gibson TV, took me through the Murphy Lab section where you can have the guitar of your dreams built to your specifications. There is also a Repair and Restoration space, a Kramer guitars corner, KRK workstation, Mesa Boogie amplifiers area and a large Gibson Acoustic Guitars room. At the center of the room is a Live Performance stage where Gibson artists, singers and songwriters will be featured on a regular basis.

I spoke with JC Curleigh, Chief Executive Officer of Gibson, in the backstage area of the Gibson Garage. Curleigh said,” When I arrived in Nashville two and a half years ago, I soaked in the Country Music Hall of Fame, Johnny Cash Museum, the Ryman, concerts at the Bridgestone and the Bluebird Café. And I’m like where is the best Gibson guitar experience here? The vision was to have the Ultimate Gibson Experience here in Nashville. A place where you can explore Gibson, a place where you can play guitars, a place where you can shop and go home with a piece of Gibson!” As mentioned by JC not only can you play the music gear at the Gibson Garage you can also purchase instruments and Gibson merchandise in the facility. There will be clothing that is offered at the Garage that can only be purchased in Nashville with the city name printed on it.

I caught up with the Brand President of Gibson, Cesar Gueikan to listen to his thoughts on the Gibson experience. “This will be our launch platform to show what is coming and a test platform. We also want to showcase emerging artists.” The screens that you see around the Gibson Garage aren’t designed to play videos, but as Mark Agnesi told me they are interactive touch screens. By engaging in these screens you’ll be able to take a guitar lesson, watch Gibson TV or view the instrument catalog to see what is currently in production and available. Plus launches of new instruments as they release.

Jared James Nichols, a Gibson endorsed artist, told me “The biggest thing I get from the Gibson Garage is inspired. I’m like a kid in a Candy Store. This is the kind of place where a musician, guitarist or music lover could just feel it in the air.” Nichols signature model Gibson and Epiphone guitars are also on display at the Garage and his new Epiphone model has proven hard to keep in stock due to public demand. Also, as Jared mentioned, being a guitarist or musician isn’t a requirement to enter the Gibson Garage. Even if you just enjoy guitars as visual artwork you are certain to be impressed with this new Gibson experience.

Entry to the Gibson Garage is free to the public. Just check hours of operation before you make the trek to the garage. Also allow yourself plenty of time to wander the rooms and experience everything that is Gibson. I will be making several trips back myself and probably leaving with one more guitar and some Gibson merchandise too. Something like this was truly needed in Nashville TN to represent an international music brand such as Gibson since the guitars are made in Music City!

Nashville's Gibson Garage Is a Must-See Guitar Experience for All Music Fans

The iconic guitar brand's flagship Nashville location has attracted icons such as actor Michael J. Fox and Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin

guitar tour nashville

Gibson Garage

A stop at the Gibson Garage is a must for any music lover rolling through Nashville.

The world-renowned guitar brand’s flagship location, designed by Director of Brand Experience and Gibson TV producer Mark Agnesi , opened in 2021. Speaking with PEOPLE on a VIP tour of the venue, Agnesi reveals a secret vault with some of the rarest guitars in the world and shares some of famous faces who have stopped by while in Music City, including Michael J. Fox and Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin.

“Every Gibson electric is made in Nashville and every acoustic is crafted in Bozeman, Montana,” Agnesi explains. This has to do with the climate of those two places, as acoustics can largely be affected by swings in temperature, along with humidity.

Starting off in the main showroom, Agnesi shows off one of the location’s major highlights. “There are 200 guitars that go around the space,” he shares of the Garage’s guitars rotating overhead. “This is how the guitars come out after finishing at our factory.”

Instead of trying to line the walls with guitars “like every other guitar store in the world,” Agnesi says they decided on the conveyer.

There are another 200 guitars scattered throughout the space, which also features a custom shop. “Everything is nicely organized. And everything’s for sale.”

Agnesi points out Miranda Lambert ’s new signature guitar model, the Bluebird, “which is based on the Hummingbird, but she also has a song called ‘Bluebird.’ so that served as the inspiration.”

Chris Stapleton ’s signature model came out earlier this year, along with an Elvis Presley signature model.

“Many of our guitars are bird-themed,” Agnesi explains. “We had a woodworker in the 1960s who was an avid birdwatcher, so there’s the Bluebird, the Hummingbird, the Dove, the Sparrow, the Blackbird, the Raven.”

The brand dates back to 1894 when it was founded by Orville Gibson, who began making instruments in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Gibson will celebrate its 130th anniversary in 2024.

Marisa Sullivan

Over 125 years later, the Gibson Garage in Nashville is the “only place in the world where a customer can come and hand-select wood to create their own customized Les Paul,” Agnesi says, noting that there will be two locations once the Gibson Garage in London opens up early next year.

“A lot of what we do are very historic recreations of very specific guitars by year,” he says, pointing out Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett ’s model. “This is his 1960 Sunburst Les Paul , known as ‘Sunny.' “

As for notable names who have stopped in, Darius Rucker performed last summer to benefit the National Museum of African American Music and Megadeth rocker Dave Mustaine did a signing in June for veterans through Gibson's philanthropic division, Gibson Gives.

“My two favorites I’ve given tours to are Robert Plant — on the anniversary of Led Zeppelin VI coming out,” Agnesi shares of the legendary performer, who is affectionately known as "Uncle Bob" to those in his inner circle.

Agnesi's other all-time favorite? Michael J. Fox , who was in town in May for an event held at Belmont University to raise funds for Parkinson’s disease research.

“Michael J. Fox is the reason I started playing guitar as a kid,” Agnesi fondly recalls.

“I was out there and there was a little bit of commotion in the acoustic room and I see him sitting there playing ‘Johnny B. Goode’ on the Hummingbird,” which is the same song Fox played as Marty McFly in the 1985 cult classic film Back to the Future , the exact pop culture moment that inspired Agnesi.

For the four years it has been posted to Universal’s YouTube page, the iconic guitar scene has garnered over 60 million views.

Though musicians and VIPs are often entertained in the private artist's lounge, where the secret "Vault" protecting rare guitars collectively worth millions is located, the rest of the Gibson Garage is open to the public.

Never miss a story — sign up for PEOPLE's free daily newsletter to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from juicy celebrity news to compelling human interest stories.

Guests can peruse its wooden works of art and try out their guitar skills even if they're not ready to buy. The store also features a ton of Gibson brand merch to scoop up for souvenirs on the way out.

The 8,000-square-foot space, which is open from 11 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday through Saturday and noon to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, offers intimate live music performances and events daily. It is also available to book for private events bound to impress any music-loving guest.

guitar tour nashville

Don't take our word for it

I knew from the moment I picked up my Serus J Baritone that DF & the Novo team had something special going on. It immediately felt comfortable, like I had been playing it for years. Joey Landreth The Bros. Landreth
Novo guitars are rather unique. Their look is striking, very original, yet they feel like I’m holding something classic. From materials to design and craftsmanship, everything about these guitars is done right. I’ve used my Voltur night after night on tour and I’m always blown away by the feel and sound of this instrument. Owen Barry The Chicks, Tal Wilkenfeld, Sessions
When I received my Miris J a few years ago, it felt like I was meeting a long-lost friend or relative: familiar in some warm, comfortable,  not-precious way. What more can I say? Sounds, looks, and feels marvelous! Nels Cline Wilco, The Nels Cline Singers, and many more
A new Novo guitar plays like it’s 50 years old. It is one of the few non vintage guitars I have played that has a story to tell right out of the box. There is something so reassuring as a musician to have the good fortune of finding the best crafted tools for the job. DF and his team have a vision to make those tools that we need to be better storytellers. It all adds up to getting that tone that's in our heads and hearts into our hands. Scott Sharrard Gregg Allman Band, Little Feat
Every single Novo guitar I've had in my hands has blown me away. They all feel, sound, and look amazing. R.J. Ronquillo Ricky Martin, Santana, Tupac Shakur, Stone Sour, and many more
Thank you DF and team for making my absolute favorite guitars. All my Novos feel like home. Rod Castro Bebe Rexha, Beyoncé, Sessions
What drew me to Novo Guitars was how individualistic and creative the designs were. DF manages to truly combine a unique shape and aesthetic with the feel and sound of not only guitars we’re familiar with, but ones that feel like they’ve been “played in.” I’ve built two Novos and the attention to detail has blown me away. The team completely brought my visions to life while exceeding expectations. Corey Congilio David Lee Murphy, Lucie Silvas, Radney Foster, Cassadee Pope, Derek St. Holmes, Danielle Bradberry and many more
This thing is incredible. Every element of my Miris is magical and it very easily became my Number One guitar. Now I spend far too many hours thinking about which model and finish I want next. This can't be healthy. Steven Page Barenaked Ladies
Undoubtedly the best guitar I’ve ever owned. Master craftsmanship combined with perfect playability. Makes you feel like you’ve been reacquainted with an old friend every time you pick it up. Cookie Craig King Gizzard and the lizard wizard

The Black Crowes kick off tour in Nashville with high-energy show featuring Lainey Wilson

T he Black Crowes' brothers Chris and Rich Robinson kicked off their 35-date "Happiness Bastards" tour Tuesday night at the Opry House in Nashville and introduced the crowd to arguably some of their best new music in decades backed up with a few classic favorites and choice cover tunes.

On a minimal set decorated only with strings of white lights, uniquely mismatched Marshall stacks, a life-size dressing room mirror, and a cardboard cutout of Chuck Berry peeking from behind the curtain, the Crowes gave the crowd exactly what they'd been hoping for: Chris' pipes of steel, Rich's excellent guitar chops and a surprise appearance by Lainey Wilson.

"If you're going to play the Grand Ole Opry, you have to bring out a bona fide country superstar," Chris told the crowd as he welcomed Wilson to the stage. She sang a duet from the new album called "Wilted Rose" and then stayed to back the brothers on a powerful version of "She Talks to Angels."

Start the day smarter. Get all the news you need in your inbox each morning.

Chris danced and strutted across the stage in typical Black Crowes fashion, while his brother Rich focused on his guitar playing.

Kicking off the night at the packed-out Opry House despite looming severe weather Tuesday night were "Bedside Manners" and "Rats and Clowns" from the new album, "Happiness Bastards," which is the group's first original release in 15 years.

Lauren Daigle, Tyler Childers, Mitski: 10 can't-miss concerts in Nashville this April

"It's been a little while since we've had some new songs to play for you all," Chris Robinson teased the crowd.

Next came an old favorite, "Twice as Hard" from the band's 1990 smash "Shake Your Money Maker." The band would layer in hits from that first album including "Remedy," "Jealous Again," and their biggest hit they didn't write, "Hard to Handle."

"A few years ago, we were lucky enough to have the idea to record this song," he said of "Hard to Handle." "Written by the greatest soul singer of all time from Macon, Georgia. His name was Otis Redding and we've been riding on this song for a long time."

The band seemed to enjoy performing the show as much as the crowd enjoyed watching it and dancing to it. The Crowes played for a solid 90 minutes before leaving the stage briefly to return for a one-song encore with Lou Reed's "White Light/White Heat."

It was a great way to kick off this new tour, which Chris Robinson said was not the first one they've started in Nashville.

"This marks two tours we've started in Nashville," he said. "Maybe this could become a thing."

The Setlist:

  • "Bedside Manners"
  • "Rats and Clowns"
  • "Twice as Hard"
  • "Morning Song"
  • "Cross Your Fingers"
  • "Waiting and Wanting"
  • "Hard to Handle"
  • "Kickin' My Heart Around"
  • "Wilted Rose"
  • "She Talks to Angels"
  • "Flesh Wound"
  • "I Ain't Hiding"
  • "Thorn in My Pride"
  • "Jealous Again"
  • "White Light/White Heat"

Little Big Town, Sugarland announce December Nashville concert date.

Little big town will celebrate their 25th anniversary as an act by heading out on an 18-date nationwide tour with sugarland and the castellows..

guitar tour nashville

One day after their first performance together on the CMT Music Awards stage in 15 years, Little Big Town will celebrate their 25th anniversary as an act by heading out on an 18-date nationwide tour between Columbus Day and Christmas of 2024 with Sugarland and openers, The Castellows.

That tour will visit Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on Dec. 13.

The general sale begins on April 12 at 10 a.m. local time at littlebigtown.com .

At Sunday evening's event, Little Big Town's Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Jimi Westbrook, and Phillip Sweet and Sugarland's Kristian Bush and Jennifer Nettles performed their new single: a take on Phil Collins' four-decade-old, top-10 American pop hit "Take Me Home."

Insofar as Little Big Town and Sugarland's relationship to 80's anthems,  Phil Collins' "Take Me Home"  and Dream Academy's "Life In A Northern Town" — another song Little Big Town and Sugarland recorded together (with Jake Owen in 2007) — were released in 1985.

"Last night felt like a real homecoming for us and a full circle moment. When we toured with Sugarland last, we would all be backstage harmonizing different cover songs to try and surprise the audience every night. There's something about this song that feels so nostalgic of that time. It really is like coming home," offered Little Big Town via a press statement.

In the first decade of the 2000s alone, songs like Little Big Town's "Better Man," "Girl Crush" and Pontoon," plus Sugarland's "All I Want To Do," "Stay" and "Stuck Like Glue" keyed to groups to a combined nearly 20 top-10 country chart hits.

December's Nashville date will also be a performance homecoming for Little Big Town.

It's their first show in Music City since a sold-out 10-night residency at the Ryman Auditorium in 2017, which marked the venue's 125th anniversary.

"It's so amazing, that's all I can say," Little Big Town's Karen Fairchild told The Tennessean about those dates.

"It was really an overwhelming thought, but good overwhelming."

  • Introducing the Gibson Slash “Jessica” Les Paul Standard

The Gibson Global Ambassador’s number-one touring guitar for Guns N’ Roses and beyond—welcome to the collaboration

In tandem with the iconic guitarist Slash, Gibson introduces a welcome addition to its line of Les Paul™ guitars: the Slash “Jessica” Les Paul Standard in Honey Burst with Red Back . This guitar is a piece of rock ’n’ roll history reborn—a new model based on Slash’s battle-worn favorite.

At its core, the new “Jessica” features a non-weight-relieved mahogany body topped with a three-piece plain maple top, mirroring the original’s construction for authentic Les Paul mojo. The guitar’s neck is crafted from mahogany, shaped into the 50s Vintage profile, offering comfort and playability reminiscent of the golden era of rock.

Its sonic signature, powered by a pair of Custom Burstbucker ™ pickups with Alnico 2 magnets, truly sets this guitar apart. The electronics, including Orange Drop® capacitors, are meticulously hand-wired and deliver a range of tones, from clean, articulate sounds to the gritty, overdriven tones Slash is known for: “Welcome To The Jungle,” “Paradise City,” and “Sweet Child O’ Mine,” just to name a few.

guitar tour nashville

For new tracks from Slash featuring Myles Kennedy & the Conspirators, check out Gibson TV’s documentary on the making “4,” their latest album. As a vibrant rock album fueled by memorable guitar hooks and compelling melodies, “4” is full of big choruses and even bigger riffs—recorded at the iconic RCA Studio A in Nashville. The first release on  Gibson Records , the work is Slash’s fifth solo album and fourth with this band, featuring Myles Kennedy (vocals), Brent Fitz (drums), Todd Kerns (bass & vocals), and Frank Sidoris (guitar & vocals).

Slash is currently in the midst of a global tour with his group Slash Ft. Myles Kennedy & the Conspirators in support of “4.” Last month, Slash announced he would officially release his sixth solo album, a star-studded blues record titled Orgy of the Damned , on May 17, 2024, via Gibson Records (Firebird Music distribution).

The legacy of “Jessica”

Since 1988, “Jessica” has been more than just a guitar; it has symbolized Slash’s dynamic presence on stage with Guns N’ Roses, Velvet Revolver, and Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators. The original “Jessica” was one of the two Les Pauls Gibson sent to Slash in the late 1980s, quickly becoming his main stage guitar. Its story and transformation from a factory second to a rock icon are testaments to the magic that happens when an instrument truly becomes part of an artist’s persona.

The Gibson Slash “Jessica” Les Paul Standard faithfully recreates this storied guitar—check out Gibson TV’s episode with Slash as he opens case after case of iconic instruments, including the original “Jessica,” revealing the wear and tear that comes from prolonged love for a guitar. Developed in close cooperation with Slash himself, this new model is designed to replicate the feel and sound of the legendary guitar with modern craftsmanship and quality—the gigging scars are up to you.

An excerpt from the book, The Collection: Slash , available in three editions from Gibson Publishing , tells us more:

“This guitar has been with me since 1988,” says Slash when asked about the Les Paul Standard that’s been his number-one live guitar for more than three decades. “It’s faded, I fucking dropped a cigarette on it … I named it when I was drunk, but I don’t remember what the catalyst for that was!”

guitar tour nashville

On the road with Guns in the late 1980s, Slash decided to retire his Kris Derrig and Max Baranet Les Paul replicas. He called Gibson and they sent two guitars with three-piece tops that were factory seconds.

“Both of ’em were pretty identical, with a bright Cherry Sunburst,” he recalls. “I started using those on the road for a while, then I had them refinished so that they were a little duller. And that became my main stage guitar and the backup all the way through Guns N’ Roses and on through Velvet Revolver, and now with Guns again.”

Mostly used live for Appetite For Destruction songs and a handful from the Use Your Illusion era, Slash says Jessica is a great and unique-sounding instrument: “I take a lot of guitars out on the road but this still has a very specific sound compared to all the other Les Pauls I have out there.”

Playability and details

The 50s Vintage neck profile is a nod to the classic Les Pauls Slash admired and played throughout his career. It is designed for players who prefer a more substantial neck, providing a comfortable and inspiring experience.

Slash’s signature is reproduced on the truss rod cover, Schaller Strap Locks are preinstalled for secure performance, and the included hardshell case houses a collection of extras, such as a Slash pick set, a USA leather strap, a multi-tool, and a blank truss rod cover.

Beyond its specifications, the Slash “Jessica” Les Paul Standard is a bridge between the past and present. Its Honey Burst with Red Back finish, a nod to Slash’s refinishing of the original, adds a unique visual element that sets it apart from other Les Paul models.

“She is such an incredible songwriter. When I first started writing my songs, I would listen to her album Pieces of You before I went to bed,” Rodrigo said, before welcoming Jewel onstage. “She’s incredible and it’s such an honor that she’s here with me tonight.”

Jewel took the stage dressed in a black top, flowy pants, and a hat. The two women strummed their guitars and took turns singing the song’s lyrics before joining together in harmony for the chorus. “Dreams last so long/Even after you’re gone/I know that you love me,” the pair sang. “And soon you will see/You were meant for me.”

During her first show in New York City on Friday, April 5, she welcomed Noah Kahan onstage to perform a duet of “ Stick Season .” Rodrigo, a longtime fan of Kahan, previously covered the track for BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge.
