Disney Cruise Door Decorations

Do people decorate on Disney cruises?

YES! Disney cruisers practically invented door decorations. Walking down the stateroom hallways you'll likely see more doors with decorations than without - and you don't want to miss out!

Disney guests love to decorate their doors for special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries, and to show off their favorite fandoms. Disney cruisers have also created other fun activities like Fish Extender exchanges and Pixie Dusting.

Cruise door magnets are the ideal option for Disney cruise decorations as they're effortlessly packable, and go up in seconds on metallic surfaces. NOTE: Concierge level rooms on the Disney Fantasy and the Disney Dream are wooden.

How to Make Your Own Easy DIY Disney Cruise Door Magnets

Melissa Mortenson

Taking a Disney Cruise is one of my family’s favorite ways to vacation and definitely one of the best cruises for kids . There’s something for everyone in our family to do and enjoy. As a mom, I have to say that it’s one of the few times on a family vacation when I feel like I have gotten a vacation too! Our kids loved the kids’ clubs when they were younger, and adored connecting with other teens in the Vibe club as they were older.

Disney Cruise regulars know that decorating their cabin doors is just one way to rachet up an already wonderful family vacation experience. Here, we tell you where you can buy these magnets. Even better, we offer templates and step-by-step guides to making your own super cute Disney Cruise door magnets so you can save money and make the decorations all your own.

Stateroom Door Decoration Tips for Your First Disney Cruise

Years ago, a clever person (I always wondered who it was) realized that the stateroom doors on a Disney cruise are metal and, therefore, magnets will stick to them. In the years since, decorating your door has become a beloved Disney Cruise tradition whether you’re sailing on the Disney Magic , Dream, Wish, Fantasy or Wonder.

Where can I get Disney Stateroom Door Magnets?

There are a lot of places that sell magnets designed for a DCL stateroom door. You can find them on Etsy or Amazon . You can also make your own magnets! It’s super easy, and you DO NOT need to be crafty to do this!

Making your own Disney Cruise Line magnets is a great way to save money for your vacation! We have a free printable template for you and the supplies to create the magnets are affordable (you might even have a lot of them around your house already).

What Types of Magnets Do You See on Doors on a Disney Cruise?

There are so many fun ways to celebrate on your Disney Cruise; door magnets are just one of them. If you’re on a special sailing like the Marvel, Pixar or Star Wars Day at Sea, you’ll see a lot of themed magnets on doors.

You’ll also see a lot of seasonal magnets for those on a Holiday or Halloween cruise. We cruised one year on Easter and there were a lot of cute Mickey Mouse magnets with Easter Bunny ears on doors.

You will often see several magnets on the door, with family names. This comes in handy if your teens make friends with other kids in the Teen Club. That way their friends can leave them notes on the small fish clipboard next to the cabin door.

Other Ways to Decorate a Disney Cruise Stateroom Door

In addition to magnets, you’ll also find small whiteboards and fish extenders on doors.

The whiteboards allow families traveling together in separate cabins to leave messages for one other. (We used them a lot when we traveled with our kids when they were teens since we let them roam the ship with their friends).

A fish extender is a bag or pouch (like a skinny over-the-door shoe organizer) hung from the metal fish next to each cabin door on a cruise ship. It has a pocket and people leave messages and treats for one another in the pockets.

Free Disney Door Magnets Printable

We have a fun — and free! — printable Mickey Door Decoration for you.

The free printable includes several Mickey silhouettes with different hats so you can make one for each member of your family.

Included are:

  • Simple Mickey Mouse
  • Minnie Mouse with Bow (in 3 different colors)
  • Pirate Mickey (swap out your other Disney magnet with this one on Pirate Night on the ship)
  • Sailor Mickey
  • Santa Hat Mickey (great for Holiday sailings)
  • Witch Hat Mickey (if you’re lucky enough to be sailing on a Halloween on the High Seas voyage).
  • “The ______ Family” Mickey – ready for you to personalize with letter stickers.

How To Make Disney Cruise Door Magnets

  • Cardstock or Printable Magnetic Sheets
  • Adhesive Magnetic Strips if using Cardstock
  • Letter Stickers
  • Lamination Machine (you can also have them laminated at an office supply store)

Print on magnet paper and cut out.

Print on Cardstock, Laminate, and add magnets.

This is the method I prefer. It’s more cost-effective as printable magnet sheets can be expensive. You are also more likely to run into printing problems due to the thickness of the sheets.

Lamination is inexpensive and easy, you can take the door magnets to your local copy shop to have them laminated, or use a home laminator. There are a lot of great ones on the market.

Also, using this method makes it easy to add letter stickers to your images to personalize your magnets.

How Do I Personalize the Magnets?

There are a few ways to personalize the Disney Cruise magnet template freebie that we have for you.

  • You can upload the PDF to an online graphics software (like PicMonkey or Canva)
  • If you have a machine like a Cricut, you can cut out letters from Vinyl and adhere them to the cardstock.
  • You can use letter stickers.

If you’re someone who’s not super crafty, I recommend going the letter sticker route. There’s not any technology to fuss with and you don’t need any special craft tools. Just a pair of sharp scissors.

What Free Disney Font Should I Use?

If you choose to customize your magnet using online software like PicMonkey or cut out a name with a Cricut machine, you’re going to want to use a fun Disney font!

If you want to go for classic Disney, I recommend Waltograph. You can also infuse a bit of other “Disney Magic’ into your design by using an Avengers-inspired font like Avengero. Or a Nemo-inspired font like Lost Fish.

How to Assemble Your Family Disney Magnets

Print out the template from our free download. The download contains several pages, you only need to print the pages with the images you’d like to use.

Step One: Print

Be sure to print the image on cardstock, so your magnet will hold up well!

If you want to personalize your magnet, you can use one of the options I mentioned above.

Step Two: Personalize

I personalized my magnets using letter stickers I got at the craft store.

SheBuysTravel Tip : Line up your letter stickers on a ruler first. Just place the bottom edge of the sticker on the edge of the ruler. You can rearrange the stickers and check the placement before you adhere them to your Mickey’s head.

When you’ve got the stickers in the place you’d like, adhere the stickers starting with the top, then gently pull away from the ruler from underneath.

Step 3: Finishing

To finish your customized cruise door magnet, simply run the image through a laminator and cut it out with scissors.

Adhere some magnet strips to the back so that they will stick to your stateroom door.

SheBuysTravel Tip : You’re going to need more magnets than you think you do! We also recommend taking a few extra adhesive magnet strips with you on your cruise in case any of the magnets fall off during transport.

If you have a hot glue gun, you can use it to adhere the magnet strips to the back. It will be a bit more secure than the glue that comes already applied to the magnet strip.

Where to Buy Disney Cruise Door Decorations

If you don’t want to DIY a cute set of Disney door magnets, don’t stress! You can easily buy some. Just make sure you order them with plenty of time for them to arrive before your Disney Cruise Line Vacation.

If you want a set of personalized magnets I recommend Etsy . There are several sellers there that will customize your magnet set with names or dates.

You can also find several styles of magnets on Amazon .

This really works for people? I was so excited when I discovered Avery Magnet Sheets before our first disney cruise in February, but when we boarded the boat and started to put them on our door they all immediately fell to the ground. Tried putting them on other peoples doors and no luck either. We bought some tiny magnets from the gift shop and those stuck nice and good. I assumed magnet paper just wasn’t very good and tossed them out. What did I do wrong? Could I have demagnetized them in my luggage by stacking them on top of each other? Xray machine?

Hi Matt, I’m so sorry you had that problem. Ours stayed on the door, except for one small one that my daughter had bent in the middle. I’m not sure if stacking them could have demagnetized them but I did separate each of ours with paper so you never know. We also drove so ours didn’t go through an x-ray machine. I’m sorry I can’t be more help but I’m not exactly sure why they didn’t work.

No worries, I appreciate the response. I guess we’ll just have to go on another until we find ones that stick 😉

Hi!! What size did you make the full size Mickey/Minnie heads?

They were just big enough to fit on a piece of 8 1/2 x 11 paper. Unfortunately we are moving and they are packed away or I would measure them (usually we keep them on the fridge).

What type of printer did you use with the Magnet paper? Also, did you have to laminate these or are they good right after printing?

I just used a regular printer (I have the HP Envy) and set it for thick paper. Once I printed them, I cut them out and they were good to go…no laminating necessary. Have an amazing cruise!!!

Hi- I need help wtih the minnie… I’m trying to upload it into Canva and it’s saying it can’t upload a PDF, but that’s how it saved nad I can’t change. Advice?

I’m sorry I didn’t see this sooner! You may have already figured it out but you’ll have to find a program that converts your Minnie to JPG. I don’t know if this works for you but I can also use my printer to scan something to a memory card and select whether I want it saved as a PDF or JPEG. If you can do that with your printer, that would probably be easiest. Good luck!

Tips: Disney Cruise Magnets

Disney Cruise Door Magnet

A fun way to prepare for your Disney Cruise is to make Disney Cruise magnets to decorate your cabin door. There are lots of fun designs you can make, order from Etsy , or download them from Facebook.

Disney Cruise Cabin Door Magnets

Most people print them on a printer, laminate them and then glue or stick magnets to the back. While that is a good option, the magnets are easily bent, and depending on the type or quality of magnet, don’t always stick well to the doors. I use VistaPrint for my Fish Extender magnets—usually the postcard magnets. Recently I noticed that they also sell car magnets that range in size from 8.7″ x 11.5″ (29.2 x 22.2 cm) up to 18″ x 24″ (61.0 x 45.7 cm).

Ordering the Magnets

Using Adobe Illustrator, I set the artboard to 18″ x 24″ and placed our designs. You can use your own design program as long as you can manually place images and graphics, and set custom artboard sizes. My daughter made the people for our door. I made sure to leave space along the edge for the printing margin. Check the VistaPrint website for the precise print size measurements.

Disney Cruise Door Magnet

Once I had all the Disney Cruise magnets positioned on the artboard I exported it as a PNG, you can use JPG too. Choose upload complete design. VistaPrint will let you know if the resolution is not good enough. I exported my file in 300dpi. Once everything looked good I placed my order and waited.

Disney Cruise Door Magnet

I didn’t have to wait long. The package arrived a few days later. I am very happy with the print quality. The print feels slightly raised almost like it was a silkscreen print.

Cutting the Disney Cruise Magnets

My biggest concern with ordering the magnet was how thick it would be and how difficult would it be to cut. The thickness is between two to three mm, very easy to cut with scissors. I used a circle cutter to cut the round magnets. You could use an electronic cutter such as a Silhouette Cameo and print and cut the magnets with it. I have a KNK Zing. I need to update the software so I didn’t try to cut the magnets that way, but I think I will in the future for a precise cut.

Final Thoughts

I highly recommend using the VistaPrint car magnet for your Disney cruise magnets. The print quality is excellent, the magnet was easy to cut, and in my opinion, it gives them a professional look. I may use this method for my Fish Extender gifts (FE gifts) on future cruises. The cost for the 18″ x 24″ was $30.74CAD, I had a discount code; Vistaprint often has discount codes. That works out to about $1.54CAD per magnet. Most of the Disney Cruise magnets were around 4 inches wide. I believe it would be similar in price to printing, laminating and adding magnets to your design.

Do you know what size the hands, feet and pants are for the Mickey design on the cruise door.

Where did you get the graphics that you used to make your magnets. I do have Illystrator. Thank you!

I have created most of the graphics myself, some I have found from DCL promotional material.

Disney Cruise Line Stateroom Door Decorated in Magnets

Disney Cruise Door Magnets

We learned early on that door magnets on your Disney Cruise stateroom door are a popular thing. Cruisers do it for fun, to show off their personalities, share number of cruises, and simply to identify their door from the sea of matching doors down the corridor. Whatever your reason, here are 11 ideas for Disney Cruise door magnets to decorate your stateroom door or to gift in a magnet swap.

11 ideas for decorating your Disney Cruise stateroom door with magnets.

Perler Beads

Magnets made from Perler beads are the perfect pre-cruise DIY project for kids (and adults too!). Pick a favorite character and there are sure to be templates online to recreate. Once your masterpiece is complete, hot glue a magnet to the back and it’s ready to display on your stateroom door!

Photo Magnets

A popular option is to order photo magnets from Shutterfly . They offer several sizes and periodically have free magnets (just pay shipping). You can upload a photo or several and easily personalize the design. During our anniversary cruise, someone Pixie Dusted us with one on our stateroom door! It was an extra special surprise given we didn’t bring any magnets since we were sailing without the kids. I still smile when I see that particular one.

Wooden Shapes

Small wooden shapes (think anchors, boats, and even letters for family initials) can be personalized with a little paint to look like a Disney character. Glue a magnet on the back and it’s ready to display.

Family Mickey Heads

After our first Disney Cruise, I knew I wanted fun Mickey head magnets for each of us to use on future cruises. I found a seller on Etsy and requested the specific heads I wanted – 1 larger family one plus 4 smaller ones featuring our names. Once planning for our Alaska cruise with grandparents began, I ordered smaller name ones for them as well. Those have been stashed away 2 long years waiting to make their grand debut!

Paper Piecing Design

We celebrated my mom’s birthday on our first cruise and I wanted a special magnet. After perusing ideas online, I used my Silhouette to make one for her. Cutting the design from cardstock. Then hand painting the dots on the “Minnie” skirt. Finally, I laminated the entire design and glue magnets to the back.

Hand painting white dots on paper Minnie Mouse skirt.

This design has now been displayed on her stateroom door for two cruises! Our initial on the Fantasy in 2018 and, last month, on the Wonder in Alaska .

Dry Erase Board

Whether you find a Disney themed small dry erase board or decorate a plain one, these can be a fun and useful way to dress up your stateroom door! Leave a message for family and friends. Write a “question of the day” and see what responses other cruisers leave. Dry Erase Boards can be a lot of fun.

Print and Cut

Several websites and Facebook groups share graphics free for personal use. Just choose your favorite, print, cut, laminate, and add a magnet to the back. Super simple. You could even use an editing program or Canva to add personalized text.

Alphabet Magnets

Standard alphabet magnets are a super simple idea for decorating your door. Bring enough to spell out a last name or just the first initial of each family member.

3D Printed Designs

You don’t need a fancy 3D printer to create magnet designs. My son has a 3Doodler Create+ Pen and has made a few fun ones for us. One of my favorites is the side view of a Disney Cruise ship.

DCL Luggage Tags

The day before you disembark, paper character luggage tags are left in your room for you to label and attach to any luggage you want taken off the ship for you. Then you find your luggage the next day in the area with the matching character design.

Disney Cruise Line Tinkerbell luggage tags.

Quite a few people collect these for fun. Others we’ve seen have turned the tags into magnets either by laminating the original tags or by laminating an enlarged scanned & printed copy. Either way, fun and a clever way to decorate.

Pin Trading Boards

Many Disney Cruise guests enjoy pin trading. In the past, cruises often had an official trading event. That hasn’t resumed since the pandemic, but that doesn’t mean the fun of pin trading has stopped. We made our own pin trading boards to hang outside our stateroom in 2019.

Pin Trading Boards on stateroom door.

We’ve since hung them up on our 2 recent cruises and had lots of trades. Our boards were a huge hit in January during our Star Wars Day at Sea cruise when there were still very strict health rules in place. Even as the restrictions have relaxed a little, we still had quite a few daily trades during our recent Alaska cruise . My kids loved coming back to the room to see what new pins had shown up.

Coloring Pages

When my sister and family came on their first ever Disney Cruise with us, we knew they had to have door magnets! My daughter helped me create a unique set themed for our Halloween on the High Seas cruise. I printed a Minnie & Mickey Halloween coloring page which she carefully colored using markers.

disney cruise magnets canada

Once she was done, I cut out the design and laminated it. Then trimmed and added magnets to the back.

I topped off the design with personalized Mickey ghost magnets for my nephews. The designs are free from Lady B’s Designs in a Facebook group. I simply reversed the image for one and added their names. Then laminated, cut, and added magnets to the back. Very quick and simple plus the boys loved them!

DIY Disney: Personalized DCL Stateroom Magnets

Sharing is caring!

Magnets

One of the most exciting (and sometimes excruciating) parts of planning a magical Disney vacation is the mounting anticipation of counting down the days left until the big trip. This summer, our family is looking forward to a “land and sea” extravaganza, including a 5-night Bahamas cruise aboard the Disney Dream and a 5-night stay at Walt Disney World. So suffice it to say – the pre-vacation anticipation is currently at an all-time high in our house!

In preparation for our upcoming trip, I decided to get creative and try my hand at a Disney-inspired craft to help pass the time. Those of you lucky enough to have sailed aboard the Disney Cruise Line (DCL) might have noticed that many families choose to decorate their stateroom doors with fun magnets celebrating their unique personalities and love of all-things-Disney.

After seeing all of the creative stateroom doors on our first DCL cruise, Scott decided that we just had to get in on the fun this summer. So this was the perfect opportunity for me to get crafty and make my own Disney-inspired magnets for the family. This craft was extremely easy and quick to make, and the magnets turned out great (they’re currently enjoying a starring role on our refrigerator as we continue to count down the days to our cruise).

To make your own personalized magnets (for an upcoming cruise, a handmade gift for a Disney lover, or even to spice up your own fridge), follow these simple steps:

Supplies

  • For the “Mickey” magnet, I used Black, Red, and Yellow foam
  • For the “Minnie” magnets, I used Black, Pink, and Lavender foam
  • Permanent Marker
  • Glue Stick (or use adhesive backed foam)
  • Hot Glue / Glue Gun (optional, for Minnie magnets)
  • Adhesive backed magnet
  • Ribbon approximately 1” thick (optional, for Minnie magnets)
  • Foam alphabet stickers
  • Ruler (optional)

Template

  • Using a permanent marker, draw a Mickey head shape onto the black craft foam. If you’re not confident in your free-hand drawing abilities, there are several Mickey head templates available online, which can be printed and traced. Just search for images by “Mickey head outline.” Note: This will be the base of your magnet, so be sure to draw the Mickey head to the desired size of the finished magnet
  • Cut out the Mickey head shape from the black craft foam.
  • Using the permanent marker, trace the bottom half of the black foam Mickey head onto the 2 nd color of craft foam (stopping just below the ears). Use a ruler or other flat surface to draw a straight line across, creating a half circle.
  • Cut out the half circle from the colored craft foam.
  • If you’re using adhesive craft foam, peel the backing from the half circle, and stick it to the bottom half of the black Mickey head. If you’re using standard, non-adhesive craft foam, apply the glue stick to adhere the half circle to the bottom half of the black Mickey head. Be sure to line the foam shapes up evenly before adhering them together.
  • Using the permanent marker, draw 2 small ovals onto the 3 rd color of craft foam. These will be the “buttons” for your magnet.
  • Cut out the ovals from the colored craft foam.
  • If you’re using adhesive craft foam, peel the backing from the ovals, and stick them to the Mickey head, so that the buttons are overlapping both the black top and colored bottom half of the Mickey. If you’re using standard, non-adhesive craft foam, apply the glue stick to adhere the ovals to the Mickey head.
  • Use the foam alphabet stickers to personalize the magnet.
  • If you’re making a “Minnie” magnet – cut your ribbon to the desired length and tie a bow.
  • Use your hot glue gun to carefully hot glue the bow to the top of the magnet, centered between the ears.
  • Apply the adhesive magnet to the back of your finished “Mickey” or “Minnie” head.

PicMonkey Collage

I hope that you had fun making this personalized craft, and that you enjoy your completed magnet as much as my family loves theirs!

If you followed along and made a magnet – how did it turn out? What’s your favorite Disney-inspired craft? We’d love to hear from you in the comments!

We’re going on a Disney cruise in a couple of months, and I’m trying to make your magnets for our stateroom door. I have one question: if you used foam board for all of the colors of Mickey and Minnie, is the front side of the magnet uneven (caused by layers of different sizes of foam board glued on top of each other)?

By the end of this article, you will have your very own customized Disney cruise door magnets that will add an extra touch of magic to your vacation.

Let’s get started!

Table of Contents

Key Takeaways

  • Customized Disney cruise door magnets can add a touch of Disney magic to your stateroom door.
  • Using a Cricut machine, you can personalize door decorations and engage in a fun and creative activity.
  • DIY Disney crafts can make your door stand out from others and showcase your creativity and love for Disney.
  • The steps to enjoy the magic of customized Disney cruise door magnets include choosing a design, gathering materials, using the Cricut machine, and proudly displaying the magnets on your stateroom door.

Gather Your Supplies

Now that you’ve decided to embark on a magical Disney cruise adventure, let’s gather all the supplies you’ll need to create stunning door magnets with your trusty Cricut machine!

The first step is to gather ideas and find inspiration for your design. You can search online for Disney cruise door magnet designs or visit Disney fan websites for inspiration.

Once you have some ideas in mind, it’s time to gather your supplies. You’ll need a Cricut machine, vinyl in various colors, transfer tape, a weeding tool, a scraper tool, and a magnetic sheet. These supplies can be found at your local craft store or ordered online.

Now that you have all your supplies ready, let’s move on to the next step: choosing your design.

Choose Your Design

Ironically, when it comes to selecting the design for your personalized Disney cruise door magnets, the options are truly endless. Design inspiration can come from various sources, such as Disney characters, movie quotes, or even the ship itself.

You can choose a design that represents your family, or opt for a classic Disney theme. Customization options are also abundant, allowing you to add names, dates, or any other personal touch to your magnets.

With a Cricut machine, you have the flexibility to create intricate designs with ease. Whether you prefer a simple and elegant look or a bold and colorful design, the possibilities are limitless.

Once you have chosen your design, it’s time to prepare your Cricut machine for the next steps.

Prepare Your Cricut Machine

Once you’ve chosen the perfect design for your personalized Disney cruise door magnets, it’s time to get your Cricut machine ready for the next steps. To ensure a smooth process, it’s important to set up your Cricut machine correctly. Start by connecting your machine to a power source and turning it on. Make sure the machine is properly connected to your computer or mobile device using a USB cable or Bluetooth. Next, open the Cricut Design Space software and select the appropriate machine model. If you encounter any issues during setup, refer to the troubleshooting guide provided by Cricut or reach out to their customer support team for assistance. Once your machine is set up and ready to go, you can move on to the next step of selecting the right materials for your project.

Select the Right Materials

To create the perfect personalized design for your Disney cruise door, it’s crucial to carefully choose the right materials for the job. When selecting materials for your Disney cruise door magnets, consider using durable and weather-resistant materials such as vinyl or acrylic. These materials will withstand the elements and ensure that your magnets last throughout your cruise.

Additionally, look for materials that come in a variety of colors to match your design. For Disney-inspired designs, there are many options available online. Websites like Etsy and Pinterest offer a wide range of designs that you can download and use with your Cricut machine.

Once you’ve selected your materials and design, you can move on to the next step of loading and cutting your design.

Load and Cut Your Design

When you embark on this creative journey, you’ll want to load your carefully crafted design into the cutting machine. Watch as it comes to life with each precise cut. To ensure a successful cut, it’s important to troubleshoot any cutting issues that may arise.

Make sure your Cricut machine is properly connected and calibrated before loading your design. If you encounter any problems, such as inaccurate cuts or tearing, try adjusting the pressure and speed settings. Additionally, when designing intricate patterns, consider using a fine-point blade for more precise cuts. You can also simplify complex designs by using larger shapes or thicker lines.

With these tips in mind, you’ll be able to load your design confidently and achieve the desired results.

Now, let’s move on to the next step of this process: weeding and transferring your design.

Weed and Transfer Your Design

After loading and cutting your design, the next step is to weed and transfer it to your desired surface. Weeding is the process of removing the excess vinyl from your design, leaving only the desired elements. To do this, carefully peel away the excess vinyl using a weeding tool or tweezers. Take your time to ensure you don’t accidentally remove any important parts of your design. Once you have weeded your design, it’s time to transfer it onto your chosen surface. Using a heat press or an iron set to the appropriate temperature, apply heat and pressure to adhere the vinyl to your surface. Use a cloth or parchment paper to protect the vinyl while applying heat. Gently peel off the transfer tape and admire your newly transferred design. Now, it’s time to move on to the next step: adding personalization and details to make your Disney cruise door magnets truly unique.

Add Personalization and Details

Now that you’ve weeded and transferred your design, it’s time to add personalization and details to make your Disney cruise door magnets truly unique.

There are several personalization techniques you can use to make your magnets stand out. One option is to add your family’s names or initials to the design using vinyl lettering. Another idea is to incorporate elements that represent your favorite Disney characters or movies, such as adding Mickey ears or a princess crown. Get creative and let your imagination run wild!

If you’re looking for design inspiration, browse through Disney cruise forums or Pinterest boards to see what other cruisers have done.

Once you’ve added all the personal touches, it’s time to move on to the next step: attaching magnets to the back.

Attach Magnets to the Back

To complete the personalized look of your Disney cruise door magnets, simply attach magnets to the back.

There are different magnet types you can use, such as adhesive magnets or ceramic magnets. Adhesive magnets are easy to use as they come with a peel-and-stick backing that you can attach directly to the back of your magnets. On the other hand, ceramic magnets require a little more work. You can use E6000 adhesive to attach ceramic magnets to your magnets. Simply apply a small amount of adhesive to the back of the ceramic magnet, then press it firmly onto the back of your magnet.

Another alternative is to use magnetic tape. Cut the tape to the desired length and attach it to the back of your magnet.

With the magnets securely attached, you’re ready to display your magnets on your stateroom door.

Display Your Magnets on Your Stateroom Door

Hang your personalized Disney cruise door magnets on your stateroom door and let the magic of your unique creations brighten up your cruise experience.

By understanding the available communication options and activating my phone’s roaming service, I was able to stay connected throughout the entire trip.

Connecting to the ship’s Wi-Fi network and using the Carnival HUB App for messaging made communication a breeze. I also purchased a Wi-Fi package for internet access, which allowed me to stay connected with the outside world.

In addition to these methods, there were onboard communication centers and in-room phones for internal ship communication. And of course, it’s always important to familiarize yourself with emergency communication procedures.

So, if you’re planning a Carnival Cruise and want to stay connected, keep reading to learn all the tips and tricks for texting while sailing with ease!

  • Use Carnival HUB app or the ship’s Wi-Fi network for messaging on Carnival cruise.
  • Consider activating phone’s roaming service or purchasing a cruise-specific communication package for staying connected.
  • Monitor data usage and disable automatic updates to manage data usage effectively.
  • Utilize onboard communication centers for internet services, assistance, and internal ship communication.

Understand the Available Communication Options

So, you’re probably wondering, ‘How can I stay connected with my loved ones while I’m on a Carnival cruise?’ Well, let’s talk about the communication options available to you!

First, let’s discuss phone compatibility. Carnival cruise ships offer a cellular network, so if your phone is compatible with this network, you can use it to send text messages and make calls. However, keep in mind that roaming charges may apply.

If your phone is not compatible, don’t worry! Carnival also provides alternative communication methods. They have an onboard app called Carnival HUB, which allows you to send messages to other passengers for a small fee. Additionally, there are public phones available throughout the ship for you to make calls.

Now that you understand the available communication options, let’s move on to how you can activate and set up your phone’s roaming service seamlessly.

Activate and Set Up Your Phone’s Roaming Service

First things first, if you want to stay connected with the world while sailing the high seas, setting up your phone’s roaming service is an absolute must! It’s important to understand that using your phone’s roaming service on a cruise ship can incur hefty roaming charges, especially for international calling. However, with the right plan or package, you can ensure a worry-free communication experience during your Carnival cruise.

Here are four important things to keep in mind when activating and setting up your phone’s roaming service:

  • Check with your mobile provider for international roaming options and packages.
  • Consider purchasing a cruise-specific communication package offered by Carnival.
  • Keep an eye on your data usage to avoid unexpected charges.
  • Disable automatic updates and background data to save on data usage.

Now that you’re ready to stay connected through roaming, let’s explore how to connect to the ship’s Wi-Fi network.

Connect to the Ship’s Wi-Fi Network

To stay connected while sailing, you’ll need to connect to the ship’s Wi-Fi network, which can be easily done by following a few simple steps.

Staying connected while at sea is essential, and the ship’s Wi-Fi network allows you to do just that. To connect, ensure that your device’s Wi-Fi is turned on and select the ship’s network from the available options.

If you encounter any issues, the ship’s crew is always ready to assist you with Wi-Fi network troubleshooting.

Once connected, you can enjoy seamless internet access throughout your cruise, whether it’s to share your amazing experiences on social media or stay connected with loved ones back home.

Now that you’re connected to the ship’s Wi-Fi network, let’s explore how you can use the Carnival Hub app for messaging.

Use the Carnival HUB App for Messaging

Stay connected with your loved ones back home by using the Carnival HUB app for messaging, bringing you closer to them even while you’re out at sea. The Carnival HUB app offers a convenient and user-friendly way to communicate with friends and family onboard.

Here are some benefits of using the Carnival HUB app for messaging:

  • Alternative messaging apps can be unreliable or require internet access, but the Carnival HUB app uses the ship’s Wi-Fi network, ensuring a seamless and reliable messaging experience.
  • You can send unlimited messages to other passengers who’ve also downloaded the app, making it easy to coordinate meetups or plan activities together.
  • The app allows you to personalize your messages with emojis and stickers, adding a fun and playful touch to your conversations.

By using the Carnival HUB app, you can stay connected with your loved ones without worrying about expensive international roaming charges. Once you’re familiar with messaging on the app, you can also consider purchasing a Wi-Fi package for internet access to enjoy even more online activities during your cruise.

Purchase a Wi-Fi Package for Internet Access

Additionally, did you know that a recent study found that 80% of passengers who purchase a Wi-Fi package onboard are able to stream their favorite shows and movies while sailing the open seas?

Having a Wi-Fi package on a Carnival cruise offers numerous benefits. Not only can you stay connected with your loved ones back home, but you can also access the internet for various purposes.

Whether you want to post stunning pictures of your cruise adventures on social media or simply stay updated with the latest news, having Wi-Fi access is essential. Carnival offers different pricing options for their Wi-Fi packages, allowing you to choose the one that best suits your needs and budget.

With a Wi-Fi package in hand, you can now use social media and messaging apps to share your incredible experiences with friends and family, making your cruise even more enjoyable.

Use Social Media and Messaging Apps with Wi-Fi

Immerse yourself in the digital world while sailing the open seas on a Carnival cruise by effortlessly connecting with friends and family through social media and messaging apps using the onboard Wi-Fi.

Stay connected with loved ones, even if they’re on land, by using popular social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Share your adventures and stay updated with what’s happening back home. With the convenience of onboard Wi-Fi, you can easily post photos, videos, and updates in real-time.

Additionally, you can use messaging apps like WhatsApp or iMessage to stay in touch with friends and family without the need for Wi-Fi. It’s as simple as connecting to the ship’s Wi-Fi network and accessing these apps on your device.

Now, let’s explore how to make use of onboard communication centers to enhance your Carnival cruise experience.

Make Use of Onboard Communication Centers

Utilize the onboard communication centers on your Carnival cruise to effortlessly connect with friends and family while sailing the open seas. These communication centers are conveniently located throughout the ship and offer a range of services to keep you connected during your cruise.

Stay connected: Onboard communication centers provide access to internet services, allowing you to check your email, browse the web, and stay connected with loved ones through social media and messaging apps.

Plan your activities: These centers also provide information about the ship’s daily schedule, including entertainment options, dining reservations, and excursion bookings.

Get assistance: If you have any questions or need assistance, the friendly staff at the communication centers are there to help.

By utilizing the onboard communication centers, you can easily stay connected on your Carnival cruise and make the most of your vacation.

In the next section, we’ll explore how to use in-room phones for internal ship communication.

Use In-Room Phones for Internal Ship Communication

Make the most of your shipboard stay by taking advantage of the in-room phones for convenient internal communication. Carnival cruise ships are equipped with in-room phones that offer a range of features to enhance your onboard experience.

These phones allow you to easily connect with other guests or contact various departments within the ship. Need to make dinner reservations at one of the specialty restaurants? Simply pick up the phone and dial the restaurant’s extension. Want to inquire about the schedule of onboard activities? Just give the activities desk a call.

The benefits of using these in-room phones are endless – they save you time and effort by providing a quick and efficient way to communicate. So, make sure to familiarize yourself with emergency communication procedures, which we will discuss next, to ensure a safe and enjoyable cruise experience.

Familiarize Yourself with Emergency Communication Procedures

Now that you know how to use the in-room phones for internal ship communication, it’s important to familiarize yourself with the emergency communication procedures on board. Carnival Cruise places the utmost importance on the safety of its passengers, and being aware of the emergency communication protocols is crucial. Here are some key points to keep in mind:

Emergency drills: Participate in the mandatory safety training sessions and emergency drills. These will help you understand the procedures in case of an emergency.

Safety information: Take note of the safety information provided in your stateroom and familiarize yourself with the location of emergency exits and life vests.

Emergency contacts: Save the emergency contact numbers in your phone or write them down for easy access.

Public address system: Pay attention to announcements made through the ship’s public address system during emergencies.

Crew assistance: Trust the experienced crew members who are trained to handle emergencies and follow their instructions.

By following these guidelines, you can ensure your safety and the safety of those around you.

Decorating Your Stateroom Door with Custom Magnets

If you have ever been on a Disney Cruise you will most likely remember seeing door decorations.  If not, then you will be in for a surprise when walking the hallways.  Some stateroom doors are fully covered, while other just have a Disney Vacation Club Welcome Home magnet.  All the stateroom doors on the ships are metal except for the concierge rooms on the Dream & Fantasy which have a beautiful wood laminate.  The white stateroom doors make a perfect canvas to display your custom door magnets.

Disney Magic Stateroom 6634 Door Magnets

There are many ways to create door magnets, of course there’s always my way .   (See that, It’s October so I stuck in a Haunted Mansion reference!)  When I first started making door magnets I looked at a handful of options including magnetic inkjet paper , but I was not happy with the end results.  If you looked over any of my cruise photos , you already know I prefer vibrant images.  After trying a few different methods I found a method that worked, and best of all it is quite cheap.

Step 1: Creating A Graphic

The first step is coming up with a design.  First, determine how large of  a magnet you want to have on your door.  I try to keep to an 8×10, 5×7, or a 4×6 canvas size, as it makes for easier printing. However, the final graphic and be any size, such as this wine bottle graphic.

Door Magnet Ratatouille June 2016

For each cruise we create one large magnet on an 8 inch by 10 inch canvas.  Sometimes the design is based on a theme like Halloween, or Valentines Day. Other times, as was the case of the Little Mermaid magnet, it was a request from my daughter.

Door Magnet August 2010 Disney Wonder

We also have bumper sticker sized magnets with each of our names featuring some of our favorite Disney characters.

Door Magnet Character Nameplate - Emily

To make the individual magnets with each of our names I found a bold font that I liked and collected clip art of our favorite characters. Using Photoshop I placed the characters and applied the necessary masking.

Door Magnet Names Photoshop Screenshot

It is completely up to you, if you want to personalize the graphics with your name.  I’ve found that unpersonalized magnets have the tendency to grow legs, and disappear.  For  example, we’ve had some of the small Pascal magnets disappear.

So, what if you are not the artistic type?  Check out some of the Disney online fan sites/forums.  There are a few great designers that have a catalog of design templates available, and will be happy to customize them just for you, FREE of charge (see rules below) .

Step 2: Printing Your Door Magnet Design

This is the easiest part of the process, printing your graphic.  Just treat your graphic like a digital photograph you want to get printed, and upload or take the file to to your local one hour photo center.  I always select glossy prints, even though they are susceptible to fingerprints.  The photo lab will print your image/graphic just as they would any other photograph. (note: while I’ve never had an issue printing, but you may encounter a shop that will not print Disney graphics. Just go to another location.)

Step 3: Printed Graphic to Finished Door Magnet

This entire process came about one day when I found a roll of Magnetic Adhesive Sheets at the craft store.  I buy the the larger 1’x2′ rolls, but they also come in smaller sizes.  You can usually purchase a roll for less than $10 at Michaels with a for a 40% off coupon often offered in the weekly  Michaels online ad .

Start by unrolling the magnetic sheet to flatten it out. You might need to reverse roll it to get it to lay flat or put a book on it for a few minutes.  Then, peel back just enough of the protective sheet on the magnetic paper and place your first picture.

At this point I put a sheet of paper on top of the printed photo to protect the image, and used a rolling pin to get out any air bubbles and make sure there was good adhesion. Similar to the way a roller is used when laminate counter-tops are installed.

The last step is to trim your graphic from the magnetic sheet.  An Exacto knife works great for this job as the magnetic sheets are quite easy to cut in fact they can easily tear so be careful.

#1 DO NOT use tape, or any other adhesive on the stateroom door. (Click here to read about the policy change April 2013) The most updated policy can be found on Disney Cruise LIne’s website here and I would also recommend cross referencing the prohibited items list if you are planning to go above and beyond a simple door magnet.

#2 DO NOT use tape, or any other adhesive on the stateroom door. Yes, I repeated this rule.  Do not do it, widespread use of tape could lead to a ban on all door decorations.  That would not be cool.

#3 DO NOT pay for design work that use any Disney related graphics!!!!  The only exception is buying officially licensed graphics, such as a scrapbook page or even the door magnets DCL is selling in the gift shops.

#4 Have fun

Last year we stayed in a Concierge room on the Fantasy. We made magnets for the door which stuck to the metal door in our garage just fine but didn’t stick to the wood laminate door on the ship. I had read that they DO work on those doors but none of the ones that we made or bought would stay on the door 🙁

' src=

Magnets don’t stick to wood. Ever.

' src=

If the magnet is strong enough it will work as the doors are still steel beneath the laminate.

' src=

Maybe because it was a “concierge” room the door being wood/wood laminate was probably the problem because we’ve stayed on The Dream & The Fantasy both on deck 7 and had no trouble with our magnets staying on.

' src=

I read somewhere that the magnets had to be really strong to stay on the doors. I bought the magnetic laser paper at Hobby Lobby that has a magnetic strength of 1 which sticks to my fridge just fine but I am worried they won’t stick to our ship door. I ended up going and buying additional magnets with a stronger strength just in case I have to hold them up another way. Hopefully one of those will work out. I hope I didn’t just waste a bunch of money for nothing! Does anyone have any input on this? Thank you!

Tammy, we have never had an issue with magnets sticking to the stateroom doors. The only issue would be if you are staying in concierge on the Dream & Fantasy as those doors have a wood veneer over the steel door.

Thanks, Scott! We are going on the Magic so hopefully we will be fine.

' src=

Hi I am computer illiterate and came across this blog in hopes of finding a magnet making tutorial using graphics already created, please help!!

' src=

You’ll need sheet magnet. We have white magnet and self adhesive magnet.

' src=

I printed my graphic on photo paper then encased it in clear plastic with my heat sealing machine (Hobby Lobby). I then cut the peel and stick sheet magnet to fit my graphic. It holds on the door with no problem.

' src=

We used the magnetic computer paper from Office Depot to make magnets for our door. Sadly, most of them slid down (not magnetic enough) and those that didn’t slide would fall off every time we shut the door. 🙁 Our plan is to re-use them next time but add stronger magnets. We will first add felt to the magnets though, so they don’t scratch up the door.

' src=

FYI – Inkjet magnetic paper (Avery or other brands) work nicely on non-concierge staterooms in the Dream and Fantasy, however, they don’t work as well in the older ships (Magic and Fantasy) due to the additional coats of paint. I have a feeling that folks will have more problems on the Magic after the dry dock as I’m sure all the doors will have another fresh coat of paint.

Fantasy? That isn’t an older ship. Did you mean to say Wonder?

' src=

Scott, what fond did you use for the individual names, and how close did you change the leading?

' src=

Have you ever used Neodymium Magnets, or know anyone who has?

I have not use them however I’ve seen them used. Just have to make sure they don’t slide and scratch the paint.

' src=

Does the roll of magnets thin strips work on the disney fantasy door!

Magnet strips will, as long as you have a large enough strip to hold up the item on the door so it will not slide down or pop off when the door closes.

Use a whole back sheet magnet. 20 mil thick should do.

I use full sheet as graphics sometimes curl. With the full sheet covering the back of your graphic it sticks well and lies flat. No worries of did-I-put-enough-strips-on, they work beautifully.

' src=

Hi Scott – How can I contact the owner of the “Door-Magnet-Reimagined-Magic-October-2013” as I would like to have it updated for a January 2015 cruise, if possible. Thank you.

The original design for this door magnet was a print by Don “Ducky” Williams. I modified the base image to create the custom door magnet.

Scott, would happen to have a template of the Disney Dream door? We will be taking a cruise the end of August. I recall from an earlier cruise that the security peep hole is below the large porthole cabin number. I’ve made a Donald Duck magnet; the sailor hat above and his duckbill below. I need to cut a circle so the bill fits around the peephole and need placement template.

Sorry, I do not have a door template.

' src=

Do you know where can I find the ship logo font (Dream, Fantasy, Magic, Wonder)? Thanks!

' src=

I would like the the ship logo as well….. Wonder

Hello, I am interested in making some magnets for my door. Can anyone tell me what program they use to do this. Also what tidbits of info do I need to know to make this a success for me. Thanks Charles

I use Photoshop, but there are many different and even free applications that you can get to create designs.

Have you used any of the free apps or know anything about any of them

I have not, but I didn’t not want to suggest buying/subscribing to Photoshop just to design one door magnet graphic.

' src=

how big are the holes where the numbers are, if you want to add ears to turn it into a mickey head?

' src=

hi Scott what size should the magnets be? For example the one that says Mickey head you have with the horse above is that an 8×10? thanks

The Mickey head with the Headless Horseman started out as an 8×10 and was cut to the shape.

' src=

Sadly I don’t have knowledge of Photoshop or have a printer in decent condition. It can print out a grocery list and that’s it.

Where would you suggest I buy a magnet package? I’d love to get a Christmas one. We’ll be on the Merry Christmas cruise in early Dec. ’15.

Any help is really appreciated!

' src=

What types of magnets do you recommend? I have seen all sorts of recommendations and concerns over the different options. I thought I still had a whole roll of magnetic tape in my office, but can’t find it. So, I have to buy something and don’t want to spend a fortune. BUT, don’t want them falling off the door.

John, I am still a big fan of the magnetic sheets mentioned in the article. Finding Michaels coupons are your best bet.

' src=

Just wondering for anyone that has sailed on the Wonder recently; have you had any prob;ems with the sheet magnets sticking?

' src=

What do they mean by Disney graphics not being used?

' src=

Scott – Would you consider making a headless horseman magnet for a “donation” wink wink? If you are interested, please let me know!

No, but if you send me an email on what you need I will do it for free.

' src=

I would love for someone to make me some peronsalized Halloween deco for our cruise next September 2017. I’m happy to print them and laminate but I’m kinda not to savvy on the photoshop and creating images etc. ??

' src=

What is the diameter of the inside circle of the porthole on the stateroom door?

' src=

Is there someone who can make the rectangular name template for me please? Thanks!

' src=

Thankyou to everyone on here. Shame that I had to cancel our Disney Halloween cruise for 2021 (first cruise ever), but we will go in 2022 or 23 and this has answered all my questions about magnets for our door. Very helpful.

'Worked great for our Disney cruise': These magnetic hooks are a travel must, and they're down to $8

Cramped cabin cluttered kitchen turn any metal surface into extra storage with these handy helpers..

Setting sail on a spring or summer cruise? You probably already know that space on the ship is limited. Packing cubes can get you on board with all your swimsuits and Bermuda shorts, but your living quarters are going to be tight. If you want to make your space more manageable, seasoned seafarers can't recommend these magnetic hooks enough — and you can get a 10-pack for just $8.

Neosmuk Magnetic Hooks

No nails, screws or adhesives required: A metal surface is all you need to hang up to 27 pounds from these hooks.

Why is it a good deal?

These hooks go on sale occasionally, but we don't expect the price to drop any lower until fall. So if you want these problem-solvers for spring cleaning or upcoming travel, you might want to jump on this deal now.

Why do I need this?

People are absolutely wild about these hooks for cruises. Inside your cabin, there's very little counter space and everything is metal. That makes magnetic hooks a headache-saver. Hang towels, wet bathing suits and just about anything else — these hooks can hold up to 27 pounds.

Each hook has a magnetic base that's the size of a dime. That makes them compact and convenient for travel, but you can use them anywhere there's a metal surface — think garages, kitchens and classrooms. They also come in bigger sizes that can handle more weight: Other options can support 40, 85 and 130 pounds.

What reviewers say

An impressive 39,000 Amazon shoppers rave about these problem-solvers.

"Worked great for our Disney cruise," wrote a savvy seafarer . "These were perfect to hang lanyards, hats, small bags on the walls of our stateroom. Helped keep us organized and the counters less cluttered."

"I bought these for a cruise and they worked extremely well," another sailor said. "They stuck to the walls and door frames. We all hung our lanyards with our sail and sign cards on them every night and also used them for small hanging bags holding makeup and other toiletries."

"I have ordered these magnetic hooks three times!" raved a happy shopper . "I use them to hang things from the ceiling in my classroom. They work beautifully and make it so easy to be able to hang up things in the classroom. Every teacher needs these!"

"I use these things everywhere," a rave reviewer shared. "I bought multiple sizes and packs. Kitchen fridge, stove, bathroom, I use them for boutique shows to display items, on the toolbox in the garage, and used them on vacation to hold all kinds of stuff while camping! Multipurpose and worth every single penny."

"When I received these, they are a lot smaller than I expected," wrote a five-star fan . "But I have to say, that didn't matter, they are definitely strong! I bought these to use on our cruise, the only thing I ended up using it for was to hang up a shirt in our balcony door to dry in the sun. It worked perfectly. Will use again! Very happy with this product. Only thing I would say is the hooks themselves could be bigger!"

Need something stronger? The hooks shown can hold up to 130 pounds, but there are also options for 40 and 85 pounds. Choose from 11 different colors.

How To Make Disney Cruise Door Magnets with Cricut

Leah

A Disney Cruise is a magical experience for families, and one way to make it even more special is by decorating your stateroom door with Disney-themed magnets. In this comprehensive guide, we’ll explore how to make Disney Cruise door magnets using a Cricut, a popular cutting machine that allows you to create custom designs with ease. Whether you’re a seasoned Cricut user or a beginner, this guide will provide you with all the details you need to create your unique Disney Cruise door magnets.

To make Disney Cruise door magnets with a Cricut, you need a Cricut machine, Cricut Design Space software, Disney-themed designs, adhesive vinyl or printable magnetic sheets, and some other tools. Design your magnets in the Cricut Design Space, cut the design using your Cricut machine, apply the design to a magnetic sheet, and finally cut out your magnets. Personalize and decorate your magnets as you wish before displaying them on your Disney Cruise stateroom door.

Materials and Tools Needed

Before we dive into the step-by-step process, let’s gather the necessary materials and tools:

  • Cricut machine (Cricut Maker or Cricut Explore Air 2)
  • Cricut Design Space software
  • Disney-themed SVG files or designs
  • Adhesive vinyl sheets or printable magnetic sheets
  • Transfer tape (if using adhesive vinyl)
  • Cricut cutting mat (Standard Grip or Light Grip)
  • Cricut weeding tool
  • Scissors or paper trimmer
  • Laminator and laminating pouches (optional, for added durability)
  • Magnet sheets or strips (if using adhesive vinyl)

Step-by-Step Guide to Creating Disney Cruise Door Magnets

Step 1: design your magnets.

Open Cricut Design Space and create or import your desired Disney-themed images. You can find Disney-themed images in the Cricut library or create your own using shapes and text. Resize the images to fit your desired magnet size. Remember to be mindful of copyright restrictions when using Disney characters or designs.

Step 2: Prepare Your Material

Place your adhesive vinyl or printable magnetic sheet onto the cutting mat. If you’re using adhesive vinyl, the colored side should face up. If using printable magnetic sheets, print your designs using an inkjet printer, then place the printed sheet on the cutting mat.

Step 3: Set Material Settings

In Cricut Design Space, select the appropriate material setting for your chosen material (e.g., “Vinyl” for adhesive vinyl or “Magnetic Sheet” for printable magnetic sheets).

Step 4: Cut the Designs

Load the cutting mat into the Cricut machine and press the “C” button to start cutting. Once the cutting is complete, remove the cutting mat from the machine and carefully weed away the excess material from your designs using the weeding tool.

Step 5: Apply Transfer Tape

If you’re using adhesive vinyl, cut a piece of transfer tape to the size of your design and apply it to the top of the vinyl. Use the scraper tool to ensure the transfer tape adheres well to the vinyl.

Step 6: Attach the Magnets

Peel the backing off the vinyl and carefully apply the design to a magnetic sheet. Press down firmly and remove the transfer tape. If you’re using printable magnetic sheets, your designs are already on the magnetic material, so you can simply cut them out.

Step 7: Trim and Finish

Use scissors or a paper trimmer to cut out your Disney-themed magnets, leaving a small border around the design if desired.

Step 8: Display Your Disney-Themed Door Magnets

Place your finished magnets on your door or any magnetic surface to add a touch of Disney magic.

Tips and Tricks for Creating Disney Cruise Door Magnets

Here are some additional tips and tricks to help you create Disney Cruise door magnets:

  • Test your Cricut settings on a scrap piece of material before cutting your design to avoid wasting magnetic sheets.
  • Consider laminating your magnets before cutting them out with the Cricut for added durability.
  • Personalize your magnets with your family’s names, the cruise ship’s name, or the year of your cruise for a unique touch.
  • For a fun twist, consider adding battery-operated LED lights to your door magnets.

Maintenance and Preservation of Door Magnets

To maintain and preserve your Disney Cruise door magnets over time, store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use. Wipe them clean with a soft, damp cloth, and consider sealing them with a clear laminate or contact paper to protect the design.

Creating Disney Cruise door magnets with a Cricut is a fun and creative way to add a personal touch to your Disney Cruise experience. With a bit of preparation and the right materials, you can create unique door decorations that your family will love. Happy crafting!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is cricut design space.

Cricut Design Space is a software for designing and laying out your cut projects. It’s compatible with all Cricut cutting machines and can be accessed from a computer, smartphone, or tablet.

Where can I find Disney-themed SVG files or designs?

You can find Disney-themed SVG files or designs on various online platforms like Etsy, Pinterest, or the official Cricut Design Space library. Always ensure to respect copyright laws when downloading and using such designs.

What is the purpose of the transfer tape in the process?

The transfer tape is used to move the cut vinyl design from its backing sheet to the magnet sheet. It ensures that the design remains intact and aligned during the transfer.

Can I use a different cutting machine other than Cricut?

Yes, you can use other cutting machines like Silhouette or Brother ScanNCut. However, you will need to adjust the instructions and settings accordingly as they may differ from Cricut.

What if I don’t have a laminator for the optional step?

If you don’t have a laminator, you can skip this step or use clear contact paper to add a protective layer to your magnets. It’s not required, but it can help make your magnets more durable.

How long does it take to create a Disney Cruise door magnet?

The time it takes can vary based on the complexity of your design and your familiarity with using a Cricut machine. For beginners, it might take a few hours, while more experienced users could complete a project in under an hour.

Can I use any type of vinyl for this project?

For best results, it’s recommended to use adhesive vinyl for this project. Other types of vinyl may not adhere well to the magnet sheets or may not be as durable.
