Legends of Hip Hop tour with Ice Cube, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony to play San Antonio
Tickets for the aug. 3 package tour go in sale this friday..
By Sanford Nowlin on Mon, Mar 11, 2024 at 9:52 am
General tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, March 15, via Frost Bank Center and Ticketmaster . Those who sign up for the venue's All Access Newsletter and select the "Hip Hop" genre can obtain presale access. Known for hip-hop classics including “It Was a Good Day" and “Check Yo Self,” Ice Cube helped put Compton, California, on the map as a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-recognized group N.W.A., which also included Dr. Dre and Eazy-E. After breaking into acting in the early '90s, Ice Cube has appeared in dozens of movies and also branched out into film production. Cleveland-founded Bone Thugs-N Harmony blended vocal harmonies and ferocious rhymes on '90s hits such as "Thuggish Ruggish Bone" and "Tha Crossroads." The group and members Bizzy Bone, Wish Bone, Layzie Bone, Krayzie Bone and Flesh-n-Bone emerged as consistent draws in San Antonio even after frequent changes turned over the original lineup. Pacific Concert Group is presenting the Legends of Hip Hip tour's San Antonio stop along with local radio stations 98.5 the Beat and Vibe 107.5. Ticket prices unavailable, Saturday, Aug. 3, Frost Bank Center, 1 Frost Bank Center Drive, (210) 444-5140, frostbankcenter.com . Subscribe to SA Current newsletters. The following is background on each artist provided by the tour promoters:
Ice Cube, Born O’shea Jackson and from Compton is no doubt a rap pioneer, legendary lyricist, movie star, director, and media mogul. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of N.W.A. in 2016. His songs are iconic and include a vast catalogue of music including “It Was a Good Day,” “Check Yo Self,” “You Can Do it,” “Friday,” to name a few. In 2022, he said the San Antonio crowd was passionate and welcomed him and all the artists in a huge way and that he is really looking forward to being back again this summer.
Bone Thugs-N Harmony is an American Hip Hop Group composed of rappers, Bizzy Bone, Wish Bone, Layzie Bone, Krayzie Bone, and Flesh-n-Bone. Formed in 1991 in Cleveland, Ohio, the group has had a string of hits, and their songs remain classic today including “The Crossroads,” “Thuggish Ruggish Bone,” “1st of the Month” to name a few.
E-40, known as the Ambassador of the Bay, is a Northern California rap star who broke into the national scene with the single “Tell Me Where to Go” which was produced by Lil Jon. His other big songs include “You and Dat,” “Captain Save a Hoe” and “Sprinkle Me” are just a few that he will perform at the concert.
Juvenile, known as “Juvee the Great” is a Southern born rapper who is best known for his music with Birdman’s Cash Money Records in the late 1990′s and early 2000′s. His biggest hits include “Back that Azz Up,” “Slow Motion” and “Ha” all of which he will perform amongst many others.
Amanda Perez is a Mexican R&B/Rapper from Fort Wayne, Indiana. She has always had a love and appreciation for her strong Texas following and will perform such hits including “Angel,” I Pray” and “Candy Kisses.” She said it’s been too long since she was in San Antonio and can’t wait to be back this summer.
N2 Deep is an American Chicano rap duo formed in Vallejo CA in 1989 with original members Jame’s “Jay Tee” Trujillo and Timothy “TL” Lyon. In 1992 the duo scored with a huge song called “Back to The Hotel” that for many has become a party anthem. It was a song about how crazy times were growing up and the many memories that young people never let go of from the past. All part of that trip down memory lane. Other popular N2 Deep Songs they will perform are “High Sidin,” “Toss Up,” and “The Weekend.”

Too Short, Bun B, & Pastor Troy
Legends of hip hop, with e-40, mystikal, scarface, 8 ball & mjg, too short, bun b, & pastor troy.
Some of the most iconic names in the Hip Hop game return to Cincinnati on Friday, October 4 as the Legends of Hip Hop Tour returns to the Queen City and U.S. Bank Arena. This year's tour will feature E-40, Mystikal, Scarface, 8 Ball & MJG, Too Short, Bun B, & Pastor Troy . Tickets will go on sale Friday, June 28 at 10:00am at the U.S. Bank Arena box office and online at Ticketmaster.com.
As an artist with millions of records sold, nationwide sold out shows, and loved by both the streets and respected by his peers, E-40 continues to reign supreme. E-40 should be no stranger to hip-hop fans having released twenty-seven albums to date as well as appeared on numerous movie soundtracks and frequent guest appearances on other rap albums. Initially an underground artist, E-40 saw success with his 1995 solo album In a Major Way and reached even higher mainstream popularity with his 2006 single "Tell Me When To Go".
Mystical does not technically rap. “He howls, he bellows, he barbarically yawps himself raw, all at a volume and velocity as unrelenting as any hardcore punk or metal outfit,” wrote Mark Binelli in Rolling Stone. Yet Mystikal’s talents lie far beyond his original style of rapping. By the late-1990s, Mystikal cemented his reputation as one of the most promising MCs in rap music, supporting his blasting delivery with witty lyrics and a crafty flow. Mystikal rose to commercial fame with the James-Brown like "Shake Ya Ass" while garnering Grammy nominations for Best Male Rap Solo Performance and Best Rap Album.
Scarface has seen it all, and has worked hard his entire life to keep the culture of hip hop deeply rooted. From his earliest verses in the late 1980's as a solo artist to one of the members of the Geto Boys, Scarface has always made sure to tell the stories he feels the world needs to hear. With double digit albums, numerous singles and collaborations, acting roles, and a book, Scarface is truly a legend of hip hop.

Giggs in New York
Ahead of his performance at Gramercy Theatre, U.K. rap legend Giggs relaxes backstage.
The rapper, whose career spans two decades, is widely regarded as one of the U.K.’s most influential MCs.
Pre-Show Huddle
Backstage before the show, Giggs gets prepared to perform for the sold-out crowd at New York’s Gramercy Theatre.
Giggs began his career with a string of widely praised mixtapes that eventually led to his 2007 debut, Walk in da Park , which he released independently.
After his debut, the decidedly underground MC caught the attention of the indie powerhouse XL Records, where he released his sophomore album, Let Em Ave It.
A crowd of fans new and old came out to see a rap OG who’s been able to make waves internationally.
Lily Allen and Rita Ora were reportedly in attendance to support their hometown hero.
Giggs in many ways personifies the hip-hop ethos, having carved out a lane for himself from the ground up.
A U.K. Legend Comes Stateside
U.K. rap continues to make an impact stateside, and Giggs’ performance in NYC offers more proof of British acts receiving love across the pond.
Giggs and Busta Rhymes
Though he’s best known as a New York icon, Busta Rhymes spent time in the U.K. in the Eighties when he was a kid, and he’s been a vocal fan of Giggs. Backstage at the show, the two artists linked up.
Two Legends Link Up
Last year, Busta and Giggs teamed up on “The Hive,” from Busta’s album Blockbusta.
It’s hard to imagine that, less than a decade again, British authorities did everything they could to prevent Giggs from performing. These days, however, it’s all love at his shows.
