Vans is officially hopping on the Barbie bandwagon. The brand is the latest to release a collaboration with Mattel inspired by the famous doll, following the success of Greta Gerwig ‘s megahit movie — “ Barbie ,” starring Margot Robbie as the main character and Ryan Gosling as Ken, has reportedly crossed the $500 million mark worldwide at the box office since it s release on July 21.

With the new 10-piece collection, Vans takes a deep dive into the Barbie mania with a dreamy ’90s-inspired hot-pink collection, which was released on Thursday.

Merging Barbie’s signature pink hues and Vans’ grunge and skate culture-inspired aesthetics, the collaborative effort features four footwear styles, including the Sk8-Hi Tapered Stackform, and more Barbie-inspired accessories and apparel. Each shoe featured in the collaborative collection features ’90s-esque prints in pink-centric styles, including whimsical patterns and dainty details.

The aforementioned Sk8-Hi Tapered Stackform is seemingly the star of the collection. Cast in white and bright pink hues, the sneaker features a high-top silhouette with pastel pink trim, sleek white lace-up closures, Barbie “B” charm detailing, signature rubber waffle outsoles and lofty pink platform soles that offer the wearer a boost.

Beyond the Sk8-Hi Tapered Stackform, the collection also includes an AuthenticStackform in “Barbie Pink” in a similar platform style, a bow-embellished Style 93 DX in “Barbie White/ Pink” and cushy psychedelic printed Slide-On VR3Crush in Barbie “Trippy/Multi.”

The apparel and accessories featured in the collection include a crop top featuring a psychedelic print, Barbie pink overalls, a cutesie mini backpack and a breezy top that incorporates a multi-colored swirl pattern.

Barbiecore is a viral trend on everyone’s lips. Vans , Primark, Cotton On, Kendra Scott, Cold Stone, Aldo , Pac Sun, Bloomingdales, GAP, Rue21, Impala Skate and even Burger King are just some of the companies that have capitalized off of the success of “Barbie.”

Barbie Collections

Since the first trailer of the “Barbie” movie was released earlier this year, multiple brands started working on their own collections inspired by Mattel’s doll. Besides Vans, other footwear brands such as Crocs , Superga and Aldo have stepped into Barbie land with new pink-filled shoe collections. Other brands like Zara, Kendra Scott and Fossil have also taken Barbie to the real world with their collections.

Influencer Shay Mitchell’s travel bag brand Béis also released a capsule inspired by the Barbie dolls and the live-action movie, which also stars Issa Rae, Kate McKinnon, Dua Lipa, America Ferrera and more. In the campaign for the collection, Mitchell channeled Barbie energy, posing in a pink kitschy scenario that even included Barbie’s Corvette convertible.

“Barbie” Movie

“Barbie” sees Mattel’s doll on a journey from Barbieland to the real world — or Los Angeles, to be more specific. Gerwig cowrote the movie with her longtime partner Noah Baumbach. The couple previously collaborated on the screenplay for their 2012 dramedy “Frances Ha.”

“Barbie” scored the biggest domestic premiere for a woman-directed movie and became the biggest opening at the box office of 2023, making $356.3 million globally on its opening weekend.

Vans’ signature Authentic kicks and Sk8-Hi silhouette get a pink stackform makeover, while the charming Style 93 DX Mary Jane style features fuschia trim and a bow buckle. The oversized VR3Cush slide sandal (made of at least 25 percent bio-based materials) is reimagined with a swirled summer print seen throughout the collection.

To complement the shoes (which all come in Barbie window box-inspired packaging), the collab includes cropped print tees and lettuce-edge long sleeve tops, bubblegum pink overalls, an oversized crewneck sweatshirt, and a clear mini backpack with the capsule’s colorful trippy pattern. Pieces are finished with Vans’ checkerboard motif and both brands’ logos.

Vans’ Barbie capsule is among the many, many fashion and beauty collaborations with the toy icon amid the history-making film, which has topped $1 billion at the global box office . Barbie marked the biggest domestic premiere for a woman-directed movie, is now the first live-action movie directed by a woman to cross the billion-dollar mark, and was the top opening of 2023 (beating out The Super Mario Bros. Movie ).

Vans is taking a step into the pink plastic world of Barbie land for its latest collection. Unveiled Thursday, the brand has collaborated with Barbie on a collection inspired by the authentic style of the Barbie dolls, with a real world 21st century twist .

“Translated through Vans ‘Off the Wall’ lens, the collection was created for the modern fashionista, showcasing the immediately recognizable Barbie style with a fresh perspective that uplifts inclusivity and diversity,” a representative for Vans said in a statement.

The Vans x Barbie rollout also includes more dainty items, such as the Vans x Barbie style 93 Dx shoe ($100), which has a mary jane silhouette with a custom bow buckle and a rubber toe cap. To create head-to-toe looks, the line offers accessories and clothing, including pink overalls ($110), mini backpacks ($50), crew sweatshirts and crop tops in a multicolor swirl pattern ($40).

Vans is one of the latest brand’s to collaborate with Barbie, in celebration of the recently released “Barbie” movie starring Margot Robbie as the titular doll. The live-action film, directed by Greta Gerwig, also stars Issa Rae, Kate Mckinnon, Dua Lipa and Ryan Gosling as Barbie’s go-to boy toy Ken .

Since its July 21 release at the box office “Barbie the Movie” has earned a fortune, making over $160 million opening weekend and becoming the highest-earning opening for a female director in the history of movies. Boohoo, Superga, Gap, Béis and Zara lead the other brands that have teamed with Barbie to release special collections.

In the past, Vans has collaborated with Fear of God, Kenzo, Kith, Rhude and Sandy Liang.

Vans Steps Into Barbie’s Dreamland With Their Latest Collaboration

The iconic skate-wear brand creates Barbiecore pieces for the modern fashion lover

Tailored for the modern-day Barbie enthusiast, The Vans x Barbie Collection is crafted with authentic self-expression and style at its core. The collaboration weaves together Barbie’s signature pink hues with Vans’ edgy punk aesthetic, resulting in a unique and captivating collection that celebrates the spirit of Barbie.

The Vans x Barbie Collection features four key footwear styles and leads with the Sk8-Hi Tapered Stackform in Barbie/True White, as well as a range of Barbie-inspired apparel. Translating Barbie’s iconic fashion through Vans’ signature “Off The Wall” lens, the collection features ’90s-inspired prints and sun-kissed pink Stackforms, so you can have the freedom to mix and match your favorites.

Elevating the collection further, alongside the Sk8-Hi Tapered Stackform, you’ll find an Authentic Stackform in Barbie Pink, a Style 93 DX in Barbie White/Pink, and a Slide-On VR3 Crush in Barbie Trippy/Multi. The Barbie x Vans Collaboration Dolls Up Skater Classics

This Barbie needs a comfortable and timeless sneaker!

This summer, everything is pink. Greta Gewig’s Barbie has a slew of collaborations ranging from the absurd to the sensible, including everything from hair straighteners and roller skates to pink lemonade and glassware. (Listen, even Chanel has an official partnership with Barbie.) It’s hard to go anywhere this summer without seeing various shades of pink in your sightline, but few of the collaborations are as cute as Vans’ partnership with Barbie , which dropped on July 27 and features a selection of hot pink sneakers, slides, and apparel that makes it a breeze to dress in summer’s hottest color.

The Vans x Barbie collection features four styles across some of Vans most iconic styles, ranging from ’90s to punk to super-feminine, and all equally striking. There’s the Sk8-Hi Tapered Stackform, which is Vans’ platform, high-top skater sneaker, available in Barbie pink and white; the Style 93 DX, which is Vans’ sporty Mary Jane sneaker, now available in white with fuchsia accents (including a bow!); the Slide-On VR3CUSH show, which is a slide available in trippy pink, green, and blue for a psychedelic take on Barbie, and the Authentic Stackform, Vans’ platform, low-top sneaker.

The collection also includes a range of Barbie-inspired apparel, including a scoop-neck crop top in fuchsia with lettuce hem; a flow-fitted crop top in trippy multi-color swirls; blush-pink overalls, an oversized crew neck sweatshirt in fuchsia; a long-sleeve tee inspired by vintage car racing graphics, and a mini backpack to carry all your — what else? — Barbies!

Vans Helps Barbie Add “Sneaker Designer” To Her Long List Of Professions

Over the course of the last 64 years, Barbie has added many a different profession to her resume: fashion model, baker, news anchor, and dancer, to name a few. Yet, however, has she tried her hands at designing sneakers, though that’ll change very soon all thanks to Vans.

Hot off the heels of an extremely successful, live-action appearance on the big screen, Barbie is now linking up with Vans to put her spin on four different footwear selections. The Sk8-Hi Tapered and the Authentic take the helm, both clad in the footwear brand’s Stackform sole. What’s more, the two shoes feature an appropriate affinity for pink: the high-top brushes the color only along its accents — e.g. the bottom, Jazz Stripe, and accompanying branding — while the low-top takes things to the extreme, brightening up everything from its silken upper to its co-branded laces. The Style 93 DX and Slide-On VR3Crush round out the collection, boasting bow-shaped hardware and multi-color prints, respectively.
