Jerusalem Vacations
Jerusalem is sacred to more than half of the world's population. It is the place where religion, culture, and the arts merge into a metropolis that is a feast for both the spirit and the human senses. Whether you are interested in history, religion, food, or just immersing yourself in the culture, a Jerusalem vacation will become a jewel in your travel crown.
Major Attractions
No trip to Jerusalem is complete without a visit to the holy sites â The Temple Mount (including the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa Mosque), Western Wall, and Church of the Holy Sepulchre, among many others. Outside of the holy sites, the Old City offers several quarters, including the Christian Quarter, the Jewish Quarter, the Muslim Quarter, and the Armenian Quarter, each offering their own cultural markets, restaurants, and shops. But it's the open-air Mahane Yehuda Market â "the Shuk" -- that is truly a sight to behold. At this bustling market in the city center you can buy produce, spices, pastries, breads, scarves, and many other items while mingling with a local crowd. While there, try some kanafeh, a sweet cheese pastry, or shawarma, which are shavings of meat that have been roasted on a spit, served on a plate or as a sandwich.
Festivals and Events
Jerusalem is a special place to visit for several religious holidays, depending on your preference. But the entire city seems to participate in Purim, a Jewish holiday that spawns parties and carnivals around the city. Often compared to Halloween and Mardi Gras, Purim takes place in early March. For a non-religious event, check out the increasingly popular International Film Festival in July. Located at Jerusalem CinémathÚque, the festival features films from around the world.
Travelocity offers a diverse selection of Jerusalem vacation packages with the best hotels in Jerusalem . And with savings up to $537 by booking your flight and hotel together as a Jerusalem vacation package, you can afford an extra kebab at the Shuk.

Tours to the Holy Land: Trips & Israel Tour Packages 2024, 2025
"Every place we visited was breathtakingly beautiful, with stunning landscapes and rich historical and cultural heritage. We highly recommend visiting Israel to anyone who wants to experience an unforgettable journey. We had a life-changing time there and are already planning to return." Simon L. and Beatriz G. â Tour to Israel/Egypt/Jordan February 2024 "I had a wonderful time in Israel. I felt while I was there the precautions that were taken for our safety were well in hand. I still got to experience many holy sites and be blessed by walking the path that Jesus walked. Every day was started in prayer, singing, or scripture reading which also extended the blessing of the trip." Quincie L. â Tour to Israel/Egypt/Jordan February 2024
Our Israel tours & Holy Land tours of 9-24 days for the Evangelical Protestant Bible believer are what Pilgrim Tours does best. Prepare yourself for a life-changing journey to walk where Jesus walked and visit Jerusalem, Galilee, & Samaria. Each of our Israel tours is led by a local guide who is an experienced expert on the historical, cultural, scenic, and spiritual history of the Holy Land. If you travel with 10 or more people, a private group tour can easily be arranged. Pilgrim Tours can customize an itinerary to fit your group needs with many options to choose from.
Concerned about safety? As a Christian tour operator, the staff at Pilgrim Tours takes a Biblical perspective regarding the current situation in the Middle East. We do not believe that peace in Israel is something that will occur until the Prince of Peace comes to restore His kingdom. Please do not make a reservation with us based on the hopes of a calm future. If you long for the special blessings only available in Israel, we will take you there. An expert driver and guide will carefully keep you from any areas that could present a problem and treat you to the riches of Israel as our special guest.

Featured Sites in Israel
Explore a vast selection of beautiful historical and Biblical locations throughout Israel with our Israel Holy Land tour. You can visit Jerusalem, Galilee, and parts of Samaria, getting the life-changing opportunity to see where Jesus and many other Biblical figures lived and walked. We even offer Holy Land tours that allow you to see the Dead Sea, the Garden Tomb, and the Jordan River Baptism Site. Like all of our Europe tours , our Israel Holy Land tours are led by local guides who have extensive knowledge of the area and its history. If you want to experience the history of Israel and see the Bible come to life, our Holy Land tours give you that opportunity.
The city of Jerusalem offers a unique convergence of Judaism, Christianity, and the Muslim faith. For Christians who visit Jerusalem, you will learn about many stories of the Bible while walking her streets. Many actors in the Bible such as Abraham, King David, King Solomon, the twelve disciples and Jesus all lived, visited, or spent time there. The Passion week of Christ will be highlighted during our stay as we visit the Mount of Olives, the Garden of Gethsemane, the Western Wall, the Way of Suffering, and the Garden Tomb.
Sea of Galilee
Nowhere in Israel does the Bible come to life more than along the shores of the Sea of Galilee. Pilgrims who visit the Galilee region have the opportunity to imagine what life was like 2,000 years ago and what Jesus and the twelve disciples experienced while fishing on the Sea of Galilee. The peaceful setting and the natural wonders of the Golan Heights to the east and Mt. Arbel to the west make for a great way to start your morning in quiet reflection. During our tour, we explore the Biblical towns of Capernaum, Magdala, and Nazareth and take a meaningful cruise on the Sea of Galilee.
The Dead Sea is not only the lowest and most lifeless lake in the world, but also nearly 10 times saltier than the ocean. Travelers will enjoy the beautiful colors of the blue water and the red mountains of Jordan to the east. Take time to enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime Dead Sea âfloatâ either in the sea itself or at one of the warm salt water pools at our hotel. The Dead Sea experience is truly a bucket list visit you wonât want to miss!
Garden Tomb
Our visit to the Garden Tomb and its surrounding gardens is normally one of the highlights of our tour to Israel. The Garden Tomb is a rock-cut tomb in Jerusalem that was unearthed in 1867 and is considered by some Protestants to be the site of the burial and resurrection of Jesus. Our visit offers a unique time of prayer, reflection, communion, and praise, which will be a special life-long memory for many travelers.
Jordan River Baptism Site
The Jordan River Baptist Site or âYardenitâ is a baptism site located along the Jordan River just south of the Sea of Galilee in northern Israel. This site is frequented by Christian Pilgrims who enjoy imagining the setting of the baptism of Jesus. For anyone who would like to be baptized in the Jordan River, Yardenit has been developed to be a peaceful setting with beautiful gardens, clean colored water, changing facilities, showers, and a nice souvenir shop.
Caesarea Philippi
To many Pilgrim travelers, Caesarea Philippi is a special surprise while on their tour. Located along the rushing springs of Mt. Hermon, the beautiful and natural setting is where Jesus asked his disciples âWho do men say that I am?â He asked this question while observing the pagan worship of the god Pan as worshipers offered their sacrifice at the âGates of Hell.â Our time at Caesarea Philippi is one of many opportunities throughout our tour to see the lessons and message of the Bible come to light in a special way.
Israel Tours: Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best month for the Holy Land tour?
Taking a trip to Israel during the spring or fall offers the most enjoyable weather of the year but normally has the largest crowds. If you want to enjoy a peaceful tour with fewer crowds, consider visiting between December and February or June and August. We offer Israel and Jordan tours throughout the year, so you can select a trip that works for your schedule.
How many days do you need for a Holy Land tour?
We offer several types of tours of the Holy Land, so the duration of your tour depends on the tour package you choose. The Best of Israel Tour is our most basic offering and includes a Sea of Galilee boat ride, a trip to the Jordan River Baptism Site, the Dead Sea, and many opportunities to walk on the same land Jesus walked on. This is our shortest trip at just 9 or 10 days. Our most involved trips allow you to experience a wide range of historical locations over the course of a few weeks. Egypt tours are included in some of these packages, as well as tours in Greece and other countries. These tours can take up to 24 days, giving you the chance to spend an extended period of time learning about and visiting different parts of the world. From our Turkey tours to all of our Israel Christian tours, all of our tours feature a first-class hotel rating for the country you visit. We do offer some upgraded tours that offer better lodging options. You can review our hotel categories at https://www.pilgrimtours.com/company/hotelcomparison.htm . Check out any of our tours to view a day-by-day itinerary and see what amenities are included with each tour.
What is the dress code in Israel?
The dress code in Israel is different from other parts of the world. There are a few dress code basics you should understand before booking Israel tours: When youâre in Israel, there is no strict dress code. You can wear what you feel comfortable wearing. However, both men and women should try to dress conservatively and cover their shoulders and knees when visiting any of the religious sites throughout Israel. Generally speaking, itâs best to avoid tank tops and shorts. Men need to cover their heads when visiting the Western Wall. Pilgrim Tours provides a Pilgrim Tours ball cap upon arrival in Israel, but you might consider purchasing an affordable kippa that you can bring when you visit Jewish sites. Some places may offer a free kippa, but these are generally low quality. (Women are not required to cover their heads at any sight.) You can figure out what you need to pack and how to dress each day by looking at the itinerary for our Holy Land tours. Guides normally offer guidance on how to dress for the next day while on tour. We also suggest looking at the extended weather forecast as you prepare and pack for your trip.
Is there a lot of walking involved on an Israel Tour?
Our Israel tours do require a significant amount of walking each day and you should be able to walk unassisted 3-4 miles per day on average. Make sure you have a comfortable pair of shoes that provide adequate support. While there are bus and boat rides during these tours, you have to walk quite a bit to explore some of the Biblical sites. Our tour guides normally give the group a few options at sites for those that have physical limitations. One thing to keep in mind is that there are many hills and valleys in Israel which can make walking even more taxing. The amount of walking you have to do may vary based on the tour you take, so look at the itinerary before choosing your tour. The good news is that Israel is a beautiful country to see on foot, and youâll have several opportunities to sit down and give your feet a rest. As long as you have a good pair of shoes and comfortable clothes, itâs easy to forget about all the walking youâre doing and enjoy the tour.
What passport & visa information do I need for your Israel tours?
U.S. citizens need a valid U.S. passport with at least six months validity beyond their intended stay to enter Israel. Make two photocopies of your passport. Leave one copy at home and carry the other separately from your original. Israel: U.S. and Canadian Citizens do not need a Visa when entering Israel. Non U. S. /Canadian Citizens are responsible to fulfill appropriate entry requirements of destination. Contact your Consulate office for requirements.
What common languages will be spoken during your Israel tours?
Hebrew, Arabic and English.
What currency can I use on your Israel tours?
The U.S. dollar is widely accepted across Israel, and we suggest bringing about $30 for each day youâll be on tour. U.S. dollars are recommended for use for small purchases and lunches. Lunches typically cost $15-20. It is important to bring about 20 $1 bills as some bathrooms charge a small fee for use. Credit cards may also be used for larger purchases. ATMs in Israel are all connected to European and American banking systems. Please be advised that the ATM machines dispense money in SHEKELS â NOT U.S. DOLLARS. Please notify your bank before traveling overseas.
Do I need to bring a converter for the Israel tour?
Israel uses the European plug with two round pins. You will need to bring along the necessary converters and adapters to operate any 120 volt appliances such as hair dryers and electric razors as well as camera and cell phone chargers. Electricity in Israel is 220 volts 50 Hz.
What is the time zone for your Israel tours?
The time zone for Israel is seven hours ahead of EST and two hours ahead of GMT.
What climate should I expect during your Israel tours?
In Israel the climate is temperate, and temperatures all year-round are reasonable. Israel has two main seasons: winter (from November to March) is cold and rainy in most parts of the country; summer (from April to October) is hot and dry with little or no rainfall. The desert areas can be extremely hot in summer time.

The only thing to improve would be the bus driver on the way home did not tell us nothing would be open for dinner because of the holiday. If he had told us that, we could have bought food at the gas station we stopped at.

Biblical Israel - Faith-Based Travel - Protestant Itinerary
Wow! Everything on this trip was amazing. I chose this tour because it combined the most important biblical locations from both the old and new testament, as well as the most important archaeological sites. Everything was perfect. We went hard day by day, but we saw everything we wanted to see. I would not have toured Israel in any other way. Our guide Shai was absolutely superb. He was incredibly knowledgable and I learned so much about biblical history, archaeology, and the Jewish culture. I am going to tell all my family to take this Cosmos Protestant tour because of its quality and substance. Outstanding!
What people love about Jerusalem Tours
Mark was great tour leader!
Dear Folks, The tour was terrific and all I antiipated it would be - experiencing Israel in every way, shape and form everywhere we went! However, at my age the amount of walking was beyond my comfort zone after a several days. I was worn out after 4 days, and totally exhausted after the 6th day, after I'd rested my sore toe in the hotel the previous day! I'm in good shape for my age, however that much walking on unlevel terraine was w-a-y beyond my comfort zone and I'll sign up for that level of intensity again. The tour guides were great and professional. If I were to do another tour, I'll visit half to one/third the number of places we went, relax more, and spend more time at each place. Your foils online that answered all my questions were superb, kind and helpful. That's all, may God bless you all richly!

September 2022
We wanted to reach out to extend our thanksâŠ.thank you for a trip of a lifetime! Our family recently went on a two week private tour to Israel with Peerless, and the experience was fantastic. Planning a multi-generational, international trip, at the height of COVID, was intimidating, however, Eliana ensured that the entire process was easy. Eliana provided invaluable guidance for planning all aspects of our trip â airfare, hotel accommodations, sightseeing, guides, insurance, and food to name but a few. She provided creative and unique ideas to ensure that our trip was seamless, exciting, safe, educational, emotional, and meaningful. Eliana always went above and beyond and had endless patience for our ever-changing needs. The client service and care we received was incredible and we are thrilled with the end result. Since returning from our trip, we have sent several of our friends to Eliana and to Peerless because we are so confident they will be ask happy with their experience as we were.
Thank you!!
The Levy Family
As we approach the halfway mark in our trip I wanted to reach out to thank you for the most amazing experience!! Everything has been spectacular so far. The hotels, the guide and driver, the itinerary and the people are amazing! We are all getting along so well, the kids have made instant friends and we are loving every second of this trip.

Re: Our family trip to Israel, April 17, 2015
I wanted to send you this letter, following our recent family trip to Israel over the March break. We had a wonderful time during our trip. Your travel services provided us with a plan, a guide, and an experience that the six of us will remember for a lifetime. Our trip introduced us to the marvels of Israel, and the historical significance of the entire region. We had the opportunity to visit ...
August 2016
We recently booked our childrenâs Bar and Bat Mitzvah tour if Israel trip with Kathy at Peerless Travel. Wow, it was an incredible experience. Both my wife and I refer to the trip as being âperfectâ, and we are generally hard to impress! From the organization and planing, to helping us with customizing add-ons to the main trip, to being available at a moments notice to answer any last minute questions...
I wanted to take a moment and thank you and Naomi for organizing our trip to Israel this July. My whole family and I unanimously agree that it was the most incredible trip we have ever taken! Israel is something to see. I can clearly see how one falls in love with the country and the people. We were so proud of what our nation could accomplish in such a short time. We experienced so much in 10 days. The archeological dig was amazing, the kids loved the camel and donkey ...
We are home and I wanted to let you know we had a fabulous trip. The tours were great and so informative. I fell in love with Israel and of course I was so sad it took me so long to get there. The hotels were also wonderful. Our favourites were the Sheraton in Tel Aviv the Dan Carmel and David Citadel. In all cases the staff rooms and views were wonderful. Petra was a must see and a definite highlight. All around 5 stars for everything from Rooms to food to general experience we loved it! The transfers from one hotel to the next were seamless as were the flights and the assistance at the airport on our departing trip from Tel Aviv to Rome.Excellent job.
Thank you so very much.

Hope you're doing great!
We just wanted to sincerely thank you and your colleagues for the trip of a lifetime. It was spiritual, meaningful, educational and just a ton of fun. Everything from the magnificent quality of our guide (Shmulik, about whom not enough can be said) to the first-rate accommodations and meals made this an awesome experience. We also shared the trip with a diverse and warm group of people that we now consider close friends. All in all, we couldn't have asked for a better way to celebrate our son's Bar Mitzvah.
Thanks to you and your Team for your superb organizational skills and creativity in allowing us to see our Homeland in the best way possible.
How are you? Happy New Year.
I have been meaning to email you since we returned from our trip in August. I sincerely apologize.
I wanted to tell you what a tremendous experience it was for us. We loved every minute of it...
I wanted to spend a moment and thank you and Peerless for a trip of a lifetime!
We had high hopes for our Bat Mitzvah trip to Israel and the trip exceeded our expectations.
The itinerary was expertly put together and as we travelled the countryside we learned and appreciated different things about Israel. This all culminated in an inspiring Bat Mitzvah service atop Masada at sunrise. Our tour guide Shmulik was beyond fantastic and we would recommend this tour to anyone looking for a meaningful...

We returned from Israel on August 18th but I havenât had a chance to contact you because Iâve been scrambling to catch up at work. I just wanted to thank you and Peerless for the wonderful trip that you organized. We all had a fantastic time. The trip was so well organized and full of fantastic experiences â some of which we expected, others which were very surprising. The Rabbi was great and the ceremony was beautiful...

EXCELLENT TRIP EXCELLENT TRIP
Well, we are back and recovered from jet lag. I thought I would take a few minutes to give you some feedback on the trip. First of all, we had a magnificent time. The family rated it a '10 out of 10', Zahavah loved her Bat Mitzvah and we all loved Israel and the tour. I want to raise some specific areas, mostly of praise, and pass on a few ideas.
1. You. You were terrific, responding quickly and efficiently, with good cheer and the right information. Thank you.
2. Our guide...
December 2012
Thank you again for encouraging us to go on the trip. Our son Michael did indeed read from Exodus during the Bar/Bat Mitzvah cermony, which was most memorable, as was the entire trip.
I wanted to underline to you that our guide Neil Eisenstadt was excellent (very informative, knowledgeable and friendly), and we thank you for this.
September 2012
I would like to take this opportunity (belated as it is) to thank you, Ehud, Ahron, Shimon, and the rest of the group at Peerless for making my daughterâs Bat Mitzvah Israel tour an unforgettable experience. To take a group of 7 unfamiliar families, 38 people, ranging in age from six to eighty-something, mix in jet lag of different degrees (people from Montreal, Toronto, Western Canada, and Australia!), add in a hectic schedule, and unbelievable heat, and transform them to a cohesive group, touring a country with thousands of years of history, is an incredible undertaking that Ahron, and Shimon performed with the illusion of it being an effortless task (they even seemed to enjoy themselves)...
Summer 2012
Just wanted to send a quick note to say that we had a great time touring Israel. Even though the itinerary was aggressive, and we would have liked to spend more time in places like Haifa and Tiberias, we realize that we can`t expect to see everything, in such a short time.
Danny the guide, was personable and knowledgeable. Overall, a terrific trip.
Thank you to Peerless, Yahaloma and all the Families who helped make this experience so wonderful!!!
I have a digital mountain of video and photo files to help keep these memories close to my heart and am looking forward to sharing and in turn seeing all of your precious images. I believe that Shea Faigan was interested in hosting a file sharing site for this purpose and will leave that to him (He won the privilege in a scrabble game). Just a few pictures with this email, I will try to send a short video clip in a separate email.
- Just wanted to express our family's appreciation for a terrific trip to Israel that you organized at Peerless for our grandson Harry Sahlit's Bar Mitzvah. It was a wonderful experience for all concerned. The Bar Mitzvah ceremony on Masada was very moving and the whole trip was most enjoyable. We had a great time! It was an unforgettable experience that we shall always remember. Best regards, Eva M

"I didnât take this tour exactly, but made some changes based on my schedule and interests and travel dates. It was my first time in Southeast Asia and I was a traveling solo female. Liz my trip consultant and contact person was so helpful and responsive to any and all my concerns and questions. It was a trip of a lifetime. I can not gush enough about the itinerary and experiences. I am completely impressed with is company and this person. Ya ya in Chang Mai and Sam in Bangkok are top notch guides. The diving in Phuket was arranged with Siam diving, a small private boat not an over stuffed crowded one. It felt like we were the only people in the ocean. Goo, GO, GO!!!!"

"I've just returned from my trip to China, a week ago. I've seen many-many interesting places of Guangdong and Guangxi provinces. But most of all i liked my 2-days trip to Longshen villages with my guide Frank from chinahighlights. The day before our trip has started, in Guilin, Frank met me in hotel and told about our journey. Next 2 days we visited traditional ancient chinese villages (the biggest from them are Ping'an and Dazhai), walking around them, saw the rice-terraces landscape (it was really unbelievable). Also we had a hiking between villages, and stayed at night at ZhongLiu village. I haven't seen any tourists in this village, even chinese tourists. It was fantastic cause we've seen real chinese life of local people, including, for example, planting vegetables, collecting tea). Very quiet, fresh air, natural food. Yes, in this village almost no shops, no souvenirs, but you dont need them. All around you a hundred times better. I advice all, who wants to see real chinese life, visit this place, especially this village, stay at night there. Thanks very much to my guide Frank and chinahighlights for this trip!"

"Egypt â June 10 to June 16 We had planned this trip over almost two years. After looking at offerings from various vendors, we selected Memphis Tours. In a brief high-level summary, they did NOT disappoint! In rating this adventure on a 5-star scale, 5. One of my bucket list is to see the ancient wonders of the world. Iâve been to the site of the Colossus of Rhodes, the Acropolis in Athens, Colosseum in Rome, Machu Pichu, Great Wall of China, Stone Henge and now the antiques of Egypt. We structured this trip to see a lot; the Pyramids of Giza; The temples of Aswan and the temples of Luxor including the Valley of Kings. In a word WOW! To be up close, touch and otherwise experience these monuments some almost 5,000-year-old, is mind blowing. To understand the context in human history is amazing. Our trip included a mini-cruise on the Nile (WOW!). The boat the âMinervaâ was good; including accommodations, staff and food. We flew from Cairo to Aswan, caught the boat, sailed from Aswan to Luxor; then flew back to Cairo to go home. Flights were included in our package. In the hope of not botching names, Iâd like to call out three people: âMennaâ who was our coordinator and overall âbossâ of our trip. This young lady can do it all. âMaiâ who was our guide in Cairo/Giza, so smart, feisty and knowledgeable in all things ancient Egypt. Lastly, but NOT least is âWaledâ who took us to Aswan and Luxor. His passion and knowledge are amazing. Iâm just glad there wasnât a test after. Their in-depth knowledge of not just facts, but the whys are incredible. Memphis Tours â be glad you have these folks on your team!"

- Periodic violence has plagued Israel from its birth, but itâs usually safe to visit there; check the latest U.S. State Department warnings as well as news reports.
- Approach your visit to Israel with an open mind; what you find there may surprise you.Â
- Because Israel is such a small country, you can see much of it in a weekâs tour.
- If youâre visiting Israel primarily for religious reasons, look for special interest tours that bring various religious groups to visit sites of special interest.Â

➨Masada and the Dead Sea Day Trip from Jerusalem: BOOK NOW !
It’s not a secret that spectacular Masada is one of my favorite spots in Israel . Hiking Masada at sunrise belongs to the most magical moments of my trip to Israel . Masada fortress on Mount Masada in the Judean desert is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most fascinating places in Israel. Ancient Masada was the headquarter of Jewish rebels during the Great Jewish Revolt against the Romans. Hundreds of Jews escaped from Jerusalem to Masada during the Roman Siege of Jerusalem in 70 AD. However, 8.000 Roman troops attacked Masada. When the conquer of the fortress was about to happen, Jews decided to kill themselves instead of getting into the hands of the conqueror. 960 people at Masada have chosen death instead of slavery. Today Masada is a symbol of Jewish pride and hope and a universal symbol of the human fight against oppression. If you would like to visit Masada, you will most likely enjoy this Masada and the Dead Sea Day Trip from Jerusalem tour . This tour includes floating in the healing waters of the cobalt-blue Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth. Visiting Masada and swimming in the Dead Sea in one day is one of the best Jerusalem day trips. Masada and the Dead Sea Day Trip from Jerusalem tour is the best for those who enjoy scenic views, surreal nature, history, and unique experiences.

Frequently asked questions
- The secret to having an awesome travel experience is to pack ahead. Start with the essentials: passport, travel docs, bank cards and vital medications. Next, bring on board items thatâll help pass the time, like some electronic gadgets or a thrilling novel. Itâs also smart to bring your chargers, a neck pillow and a pair of headphones. And of course, donât forget to squeeze in toiletry items like a toothbrush, facial wipes and a fresh change of clothes.
- While the list of banned items differs between air carriers, the general guide to follow is nothing flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes screwdrivers, blades, aerosol cans and bleaching agents. Sporting equipment like ski poles, and items that could harm other people, such as guns and swords, arenât allowed in the cabin either.
- The key to a comfortable flight often lies in your choice of clothing. Prepare for temperature changes by layering up. This will keep you nice and warm if the cabin starts to cool down. Shoes like sandals and heels are best left in your suitcase. Even though they may be your favorites, go for flat, closed-toed footwear like sneakers. Your feet will thank you for it.
- Unfortunately, a risk of long flights is developing DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clot condition caused by extended periods of inactivity. To avoid this, take every opportunity to stretch your legs and walk around the cabin. Compression socks and tights are another simple way to help reduce this risk.
- Airport security personnel first need to see that you have a valid ID and matching boarding pass before you can proceed any further. Have them ready to show.
- Your belt, coat, keys and other items in your pocket, like coins, will need to go through the X-ray machine. Make your life easier by removing them as your turn draws near.
- All electronic devices, including your phone and tablet, will also need to be separately scanned.
- Any liquids or gels, such as hair oil or hand cream, that you want to take on board must be no larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters). They must also all fit inside a quart-size (one liter), clear zip-lock bag.
- Choosing your footwear wisely can save you several valuable minutes. Hiking boots are often required to be removed and X-rayed separately. Slip-on sneakers usually arenât.
- Airlines wonât allow any sharp or pointed objects in the cabin. If you need to bring these kinds of items, put them in your checked baggage.

13 Best Affordable All-Inclusive Resorts for a Dreamy Vacation That Wonât Break the Bank
Posted: March 11, 2024 | Last updated: March 11, 2024
The cheapest all-inclusive vacations
Dreaming of a luxurious all-inclusive resort vacation but traveling on a budget ? As it turns out, your bucket-list trip may be well within your price range. All-inclusive family resorts , adults-only all-inclusive resorts and even the best all-inclusive resorts don't necessarily come with a high price tag. Cheap all-inclusive resorts are definitely a thing.
With a baker's dozen of options for you to choose from, it's up to you to decide which types of affordable all-inclusive resorts make the most sense for you and your family. And once you've sorted out where you want to travel next, be sure to familiarize yourself with our all-inclusive resort tips  so you can get the most out of every joyous minute you're staying there.
How we chose the best affordable all-inclusive resorts
We focused on resorts priced around $350 or less per night for two people. Our choices are based on expert recommendations, user reviews, star ratings and on-the-ground knowledge from within the all-inclusive travel industry. But price isn't everything. For some of our picks, the value of the experienceâwhether that's upgraded food, recently renovated rooms, more amenities or special focusesâgave it top billing over the cheapest all-inclusive hotel option.
Get Reader's Digest âs  Read Up newsletter for more travel, cleaning, humor, tech and fun facts all week long.
What are all-inclusive resorts, and why are they a good value?
The term all-inclusive resort typically means that the cost of your entire stay is covered at the price you paid when you booked the trip. Snacks, drinks, all meals, a daily program of activities, non-motorized water sports, pool and beach access and towel serviceâand of course, your roomâare all factored into the total cost of your stay. Which is a big assist for budget-minded travelers who are keeping a close eye on their cash flow.
That said, there are always opportunities for upgrades that you will pay extra for, like a bottle of wine or spa treatments. So if you're not sure if the price is included for something you'd like to try, be sure to ask before you book an activity.
How to get the best affordable all-inclusive resort deals
In my experience working for more than a decade in the travel industry, to get the best deal on a cheap all-inclusive vacation, the best time to book a hotel is early. Or alternatively, play chicken and see if you can score a last-minute deal. Because prices fluctuate based on demand times, prices for our selected properties might be higher during peak season (also known as high season). For instance, you will see a spike in all-inclusive resort rates as well as airfares during times when people are looking for warm winter getaways and during spring break.
On the other hand, prices below our max budget may be found during the off-season, where you might face a higher likelihood of inclement weather. While it may be tempting to snag the lowest rates of the year, remember to look at all the angles. Shoulder season is the sweet spot between pricier rates and the lower cost of the off-season.
Best for families
Iberostar selection bavaro suites, dominican republic.
If space is what you seek, look no further than the Iberostar Selection Bavaro Suites in the Caribbean . The property has its own Caribbean town, and the amenities are vast. This affordable all-inclusive resort allows you to book junior suites that connect or large family suites. Within those, there are sunken seating areas with convertible sleep spaces should you choose to keep the crew in just one room. You can ask for PlayStations when the sun's just too much, despite the plentiful pools. Kids can experience activities like an on-site coral nursery or participate in Star Camp, which is broken out into three age groups between 4 and 17.
- Wide selection of connecting suites and family suites
- Use of multiple property amenities within the complex

Beaches ocho rios, jamaica.
Traveling with autistic children can be challenging, but with some help and support, it's far from impossible. This Jamaican property is part of the Beaches brandâthe family arm of honeymoon favorite Sandalsâwhich is the first resort company in the world to complete the rigorous training required to offer autism-friendly, fully staffed kids camps at no additional cost. It even hosts a tailored Autism All-Inclusive Week each year.

Best for teens
Hard rock hotel riviera maya, mexico.
It can be hard to get a teen to buy into a family vacation âbut not when you promise it'll rock hard. That's practically a guarantee at this large all-inclusive property in Mexico's Riviera Maya. Rooms are spacious and decorated in warm, rich tones, but that's not what makes it hot. Teens have access to some super-sweet amenities that will have them rethinking how cool a vacay with the 'rents can be.
Dance contests, music quizzes, water balloon fights and paddle board lessons are all on their list of activities, and teens can play in the HyperX Gaming Loungeâwhich is fully equipped with Xboxes, Nintendo Switches, gaming PCs and a VR stationâuntil midnight. Then there's the Music Lab for serious bragging rights. This program lets kids and teens take part in a jam band, record a music session with a producer, star in a music video, borrow a real Fender guitar and more. Best for couples
Royalton chic punta cana, dominican republic.

But novelty acts like CHIC Angelsâwho appear without fail at the weekly foam party at the oversized poolâand a mermaid pool give couples something new to talk about at every turn. Any lulls in conversation and connection should be reserved for dozing off on the goldenrod sands of Uvero Alto.

Best for travelers with dietary restrictions
Grand palladium punta cana resort & spa, dominican republic.
Rather than a place for all you can eat, this resort is where anyone can eat. That's thanks to an allergy-conscious program created with dietitians and strictly enforced by chefs and food-prep staff. Guests are asked to identify their food allergies at check-in and are issued a color-coded bilingual card that also gives them a cheat sheet for buffet selections and menu items at any a la carte restaurant.
Lovers of warm-water beaches will also enjoy access to the neighboring Grand Palladium Bavaro Resort & Spa and Grand Palladium Palace Resort & Spa, which means access to 13 bars and six beach bars throughout the complex. The resort also offers a sports centerâor you can reserve one of four badminton, six hard-floor tennis, four paddleball or six pĂ©tanque courts. - Allergy-friendly dining
- Global a la carte restaurant themes go beyond the expected
- Kids will love the pool with a pirate ship
- Additional charge for room service
- Reservations are required for dining
Best for eco-friendliness
Bahia principe grand tulum, mexico.
Learning to appreciate different cultures and the world around us is one of the best parts of traveling, and it's never too early to teach that lesson. This recently renovated eco-friendly resort offers a multitude of fun ways for children to discover that, from a kids' club with 10 Mayan-themed play areasâincluding a zip line and a water parkâto planned activities, such as archeological digs and stories about the ancient gods of the jungle.
The Eco Bahia program puts an environmental slant on its teachings and is part of Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts' commitment to responsible travel. This focus has won the resort multiple awards for sustainability and social and environmental responsibility , which is even more impressive when you consider the breadth of what it offers: six restaurants, a buffet that has its own kids' section, a teens' club designed with input from actual teens and exchange privileges with free shuttle service every 10 minutes to nearby Bahia Principe Grand Coba.

Nickelodeon punta cana, dominican republic.
Can't get enough Nick Jr. or Nick at Nite throwbacks? The Nickelodeon hotel in Punta Cana is a fully immersive experience into the world of Nickelodeon, and the whole cast of characters is present and accounted for. The crew from PAW Patrol , Dora the Explorer , Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles , Fairly OddParents , SpongeBob SquarePants and all of their friends pop up daily, and scheduled "slime" dumps at the water parkâfor which admission is also includedâare all part of any trip here. The rooms are also decorated with the channel's style in mind, including splashes of that signature orange, but given the polish of contemporary luxury .
Novelty restaurants in the nine-restaurant Gourmet Village range from space-inspired dining to a gorgeous marketplace with cooking stations, proving that wanting a kid-at-heart, playful experience doesn't have to come at the expense of grown-up taste.

Best for entertainment
Grand oasis cancĂșn, mexico.
The Grand Oasis CancĂșn is party central in the heart of CancĂșn's all-inclusive haven, the Hotel Zone. It takes its cue from Las Vegas but adds plenty of Mexican spice for something really special. Bungee, tightropes, beach soccer and water slides also make fellow guests part of the entertainment.
At the open-air bar Zocalo, a DJ spins three times a week, and a live band and Mexican or Caribbean celebrations take place the other four. Multiple other venues take the spotlight once the sun sets: the Oasis Arena features concerts by international artistsâand is known to host a boxing championship or two. Fire and drum shows take place at the Atrium theater, but for something more risquĂ©, the Kinky Night Club, featuring burlesque, live music and sketch acts, draws in revelers. Then there's the 24-hour casino, plus 13 restaurants to choose from. Or go for the extra-cost sensory gastronomy and specialty restaurant experiences if your favorite performance art is culinary.
- Nonstop schedule of events for those who like to stay busy
- Adults-only spaces, evening venues and entertainment
- Can be loud and overstimulating
- Several restaurants require additional cost
Best for active travelers
Platinum yucatĂĄn princess, mexico.
You'll definitely get your daily steps in at the Platinum YucatĂĄn Princess while exploring the grounds, visiting all 13 of its pools or hanging out at its two sister properties, Grand Riviera Princess and Grand Sunset Princess. They're connected with walking trails, but you can get acquainted with them via a guided bike tour first. This resort has the usual gym, spa and shops for low-key activity, but its Activity Zone is appropriately named. That's where organized activities, music and a weekly foam party take place. You can unleash your inner, past or present athlete at the Sports Park, which features batting cages, a putting green, ping-pong, mini billiards, an air rifle target range and more. Or head over to the tennis courts.
However you choose to spend your busy day, you don't have to worry about planning aheadâreservations aren't needed at the five included restaurants. Afterward, relax in spacious rooms with glossy, polished tile floors, a seating area and a furnished balcony or terrace. All are junior suites and fitted with cool, neutral decor, with pops of jewel tones in the trim.
- Plenty of offerings for active travelers, especially at the Activity Zone
- No reservations required for most a la carte restaurants
- Access to two sister resorts
- No beachfront views
- Guests must be 18 or older
Best for spa lovers
Grand palladium palace resort & spa, dominican republic.
Part of the Grand Palladium resort complex on Bavaro Beach, this property is the one to choose if R&R is high on your priority list. While the services at Zentropia Palladium Spa & Wellness aren't included, as is the case with most resorts and hotels, they're all within steps of your room if you stay here. It's considered one of the most extensive spas in the Dominican Republic, with a jetted tub, Turkish bath, vapor bath, sauna and an extensive service menu that includes hair treatments, waxes, manis and pedis, facial and body treatments, exfoliation and a full gamut of massage styles.
After or in between treatments, relax at any of this spa resort 's six pools. They're all great, but we might recommend The Secret, an adults-only pool open until midnight. Looking to get some activity? Let the kids have their pirate ship (it's a feature of one of the pools, as are water slides)âif you want to ramp things up yourself, just go to the well-equipped fitness center attached to the spa.
- Elevated spa offering a wide variety of services
- Exchange privileges with adjacent Grand Palladium Bavaro Suites Resort and Grand Palladium Punta Cana Resort & Spa
- Adults-only The Secret pool
- No reservations required for dining
- Reservations are required
Best for golfers
MeliĂĄ caribe beach resort, dominican republic.
For those who find "free golf" the best value for their green, it's hard to overlook the Melia Caribe Beach Resort , one of the best affordable all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana, which offers complimentary rounds with some staysâespecially when it's designed by six-time Spanish champ Jose "Pepe" Gancedo. The three nine-hole courses are interspersed with coconut trees and beautiful lakes.
The resort's interiors are classically colonial with a timeless cream and dark wood scheme. All of these are steps from a prime location on Bavaro Beachâa short meander away, past 13 restaurants and through tropical gardens. There's also the Splash Island Water Park, where the kids can play in the water as you do the same on the green. For even more to do, this resort offers a complimentary shuttle to the theme park Katmandu Park and sells tickets to the attraction right on site.
- Golf is listed among the resort's inclusions for select stays
- Wide selection of restaurants
- Complimentary shuttle to Katmandu Park
- Golf cart rental not included
- Need to rent golf clubs at an additional cost or pack your own

Five Pieces Not to Miss at EXPO CHICAGO 2024
If you're headed to the windy city for its annual art exposition, be on the lookout for these standout artworks..
When I pitched my editor on sending me to EXPO CHICAGO I tried to hype it up for her by calling it âthe fifth most important art fair in America.â It was kind of a joke, but in retrospect sounds even sillier. Weâre not on the coasts; superlatives feel out of sync with the slower Midwestern way of life.

Here, even the explosive playwright Branden Jacobs-Jenkins is reservedâas demonstrated by his excellent new play at the Steppenwolf Theatre, Purpose, which is a relatively restrained family drama about legacy and respectability politics staged on a sitcom set and directed by, of all people, Phylicia Rashad . Here, Nicole Eisenman âs work in her survey at the Museum of Contemporary Art feels less acerbic than usual. I lingered longer on the ones where people were just hanging out.
So, with the understanding that rankings are antithetical to the Chicago ethos Iâve striven to adopt on my visit, here’s a rundown of my favorite EXPO CHICAGO artworksâcomplete with my own photosâin no particular order.
Ariel Cabrera, All-inclusive Trip (2024), El Apartamento
My favorite part of Less Than Zero is when a girl takes the main character home from a bar and then hands him a pair of sunglasses and sunscreen, but refuses to touch him as they each pleasure themselves on opposite sides of the bed. Were I a proper critic, Iâd group Cabreraâs works in this fair alongside the new Eric Fischl show at Skarstedt and Philip Pearlstein at Bortolami. Surreal luxury forces you to ask yourself: Is it ever not surreal? I like the concept of civil war as a fantasy luxury commodity, too.

Amy Stober, Crying Girl (2024), MICKEY
On the plane to Chicago, the guy sitting next to me spent most of the time watching reviews for different backpacks that heâd downloaded from YouTube. Allow me to review this bag: itâs manipulative. It looks like a regular duffel hung on a wall but is, in fact, cast polyurethane and hollow when you knock it. The artist was on hand at the booth and did this for me, explaining that she came to be interested in our era of bags because of what they represent in terms of simultaneous âexhibition and privacy.â You want people to see your bag, but not know whatâs inside it. The image of the woman is taken from a graphic t-shirt from Forever 21, chosen for its easy legibility.
Michael Rakowitz, The Breakup (2010), the menâs room
Visitors to one of the menâs rooms at the fair will sometimes be treated to the dulcet tones of George Harrison tuning up in this fascinating audio piece by the Chicago-based Rakowitz. This workâinstalled as part of the fairâs IN SITU non-selling curationâwas originally a ten-part radio miniseries commissioned by Al Maâmal Foundation for Contemporary Art, Jerusalem for Radio Amwaj in Ramallah, using 150 hours of unreleased audio tapes from Michael Lindsay-Hoggâs documentary Let It Be to examine the 1969 disbanding of the Beatles, which included a scuttled tour to Africa, in the context of the simultaneous contemporary failure of Pan-Arabism. Even in the bathroom, this piece holds stirring new relevance in light of Peter Jacksonâs Get Back , the investigative podcast boom and probably some other stuff that Iâm forgetting.
Andie Dinkin, Holiday Feast (2024), Half Gallery
Itâs harder to get a seat at the Bemelmans Bar bar since the Carlyle became inexplicably popular with influencers but itâs never going to change, not really. Dinkinâs work feels like an update on those murals, though, bringing the crazed surrounding atmosphere of it into the work itself. She has shown her work at the Carlyle , butâthis is just my personal associationâthe great Florine Stettheimer comes into play here too. This one seems to have a lot of disjointed narratives, but then it might just be a really good party.
Tessa Perutz, Cap Ferret Forest in Violet and Varied Cool Tones (2020-2023), Ruttkowski;68
If you Google the words âCap Ferret Forestâ one of the most asked questions is: âIs Cap Ferret chic?â (Answer: Undoubtedly .) I wanted to see the real thing because this work by Chicago native Perutz is magnetic. At just 9 by 7 inches, its shapes and subject matter call to mind Henri Matisseâs cut-outs, though it is in fact oil and pencil on paper, with the paint thick in certain areas like a lush undergrowth. Iâm a sucker for alien landscapes but itâs not too strange. Note how the purples are kept in check, where they threaten to predominate. Thereâs a formula to its density. It doesnât feel flat at all, does it?
