Our canal cruises depart daily from The Slipway Bar & Restaurant, Burscough, L40 0RN .

Join us and take in the wonderful rural settings of the area. Our narrowboat’s are named ‘Alfie Bhoy’, ‘Gunthorpe Belle’ and ‘Gunthorpe Star’ and they all seat 12 passengers in comfort and safety. Our boats are centrally heated and have washroom facilities.

Our canal trips include a Breakfast Cruise, an Afternoon Tea Cruise and Evening Cruises (Tapas, Hotpot and Fish & Chips)

Our boats are also available for a Half Day or Full Day charter and is fully licensed to serve alcoholic beverages.

A really nice assortment of cakes, chocolate, battenburg, fruit tart, scones cream and jam. plenty of fresh fruit, strawberries, raspberries, tangerine. Unlimited tea, with juice and a wine for the non driver. A very nice journey circa 2 hours, very informative about the area and it's history, learned so much.

Had a wonderful afternoon, the last trip before lock down 2. Greeted really well by our captain and host. Everything explained by really well. Plenty of food and really fresh. Beef chicken and cheese sandwiches, gerkins and tomatoes.

Just got back from an amazing cruise with afternoon tea with this company. The food was lovely and fresh! The skipper, Mark was lovely and professional! He was so naturally friendly and explained everything about the history of barges and the area. He was so knowledgeable. The cruise itself was beautiful and relaxing.

What a wonderful experience! Mark was such a great host, very kind and helpful. We miss our trip because of car crash on the road, he not only accommodate us on the next trip but he make us fresh afternoon tea and he place us in the best part of the boat! Bluebell Narrowboat Holidays offer you canal holidays on one of the prettiest routes in Britain. Our two boats; Bluebell at 35’ long and Cornflower at 37’ long, are fully equipped with everything you need for a self-catering holiday in the English countryside. We give full operating and driving tutorials before handing over the boat—ideal for beginners and experienced cruisers alike. Green fields, quiet woodlands, stone bridge arches, and views of the amazing Morecambe Bay.  All this slips by as you gently trace the old waterway in your boat of choice.

Bluebell has been in the family since 2006 and she has been on hire for holidays since 2014. Cornflower was added to the fleet in 2020. We live only 6 miles away and are on hand for assistance when required. Our local know-how is extensive, so if there’s anything you’d like to know, just ask!

Welcome to Lancashire Days where we offer a service providing a one stop shop for all group organisers coach tour companies.

Over the last 10 years, we have developed a cruising haven on the Lancaster Canal.  A number of our visiting groups and coach parties have consistently asked for additional tourist locations in the North Lancashire Area to produce a full day out for our customers.

With this in mind, Lancashire Days, working with partner attractions has now provided some stunning and historical tours covering most of Lancashire.  In addition to the tour, we provide the coach company or group with an onboard host who will meet and greet the group and provide commentary throughout the tour while interacting with the groups.  The commentary involves geographical and historical pointers throughout the tour coupled with local input at a number of attractions.

Included within the day tour we offer our superb cruises to the Lune Aqueduct or our new horse-drawn boats along with optional visits to the Dewlay cheese factory and shop, Lancaster Brewery, Carnforth railway station museum, Williamson park, Brockholes Nature Reserve, Barton Grange Centre of Excellence and the famous heritage trams of Blackpool plus a depot visit to view the old trams.

Our North Lancashire tours depart from the award-winning Barton Grange Garden Centre so it is the ideal meeting point for coach tours and groups as well as being a fantastic shopping haven!

Our staff is able to work itineraries to fit most requirements, liaising with group leaders and coach companies to finalise the tours.  We can also offer coach travel from anywhere in the country from our extensive database at realistic prices for groups.  This allows the group leaders to sit back, relax and take the accolades after a great day out!

And every Sunday and bank holiday until Sunday September 29th.

Please note NO SATURDAY TRIPS this year except charters.

Enjoy a trip on the scenic northern reaches of the Lancaster Canal, England’s most northerly canal. Open countryside pleasant scenery, wildlife and the Lake District hills in the distance. Waterwitch is a purpose built 28 foot trip boat with adjustable side windows to suit the weather and licensed for up to 12 passengers. Our skippers and crew are trained and certificated to the Maritime and Coastguard regulations.

Our trip is approximately 40 minutes. We operate from 11.00 am to 4.00 pm.First Sunday in May to the last Sunday in September and bank holidays.

Our base is at Crooklands, on the A65 six miles south of Kendal. At the Crooklands Hotel cross over the canal bridge, turn right and you have arrived. We are 1 mile from the M6 junction 36.

Adults £4, Children under 16 £1, Babies in arms under 12 months free. Well behaved dog welcome.

Private charters are available for up to 12 people. Ideal for birthdays, special events, picnics etc. a table is available on request.

Waterwitch does not run in stormy weather, please telephone if you are making a long journey.

The Perfect Antidote to Modern Life Relax and unwind on the beautiful 42 miles of tranquil, lock-free Lancaster Canal on the most contemporary of narrowboats.

Relax and slow down as you see the countryside from a totally different angle. Your biggest decision each day is whether to moor by a waterside pub, or explore the normally hidden delights of the towns and villages on your route. We are a small and friendly, family-run narrowboat hire company based on the idyllic lock free Lancaster Canal in the heart of Lancashire. "Luxury" is not normally the word used to describe a narrowboat but then our boats all named after trees are not normal, not off the peg. At Crabtree Narrowboat Hire each of our boats is bespoke. We currently operate 4 boats which are all pet friendly and NON-SMOKING from our base at Barton Grange Marina. "Willow" is a 44-foot narrowboat, "Mulberry" a 57-foot narrowboat, "Linden" is a 44-foot narrowboat and "Cedar" a 45-foot narrowboat. All the narrowboats are superbly equipped. We do not do Day Hire. We only hire to families/couples.

We offer full instruction on the operation and handling of the boats at the start of your holiday thus enabling the expert or complete novice to enjoy their boating experience. We will take time to introduce you to the boat, advise you on the routes, mooring places and pubs. If required, you will be accompanied as you set off on your cruise to ensure that you are comfortable with handling the boat. We want you to enjoy your holiday with us and you will be more likely to do that if you are confident about coping on the canal.
