I am only giving two stars because most of the doctors there are great. However, I was switched from the Shared Care Program to Dr. Kaler and that was when my experience went down hill . Some background- our family was originally put into the shared care program as there was no MP available to take new clients. No problem. However, when my child grew older , I wanted him to have a regular doctor . So I approached the clinic many times about this and finally , this Dr. Kaler took our family as clients ( she jumped on the opportunity to take more clients ) . Everytime we go see her for my child, if we ask one extra question that is unrelated to what we went in for , she will ask us to book another appointment . She always seems distracted and doesn't seem to be actively listening to anything we say , we have to keep reminding her. Last month I went in for a check up , and she was one hour late . She came in , laughing , saying lunch took longer today. Seriously? My time is not worth anything then ? Yesterday I went in for a check up on my persistent coughing . She gave me some antibiotics and was very unfriendly (maybe I was wasting her time ) . I just went to the pharmacy , and the manager there refused to prescribe me the antibiotics as they were not supposed to be used for sinus infection ! Also, this type of antibiotics apparently had lots of side effects and most doctors do not prescribe them any longer . I am still waiting for the clinic or doctor to call me back with a new prescription ! This is extremely unprofessional and I cringe to think what could happen if I was alot sicker or that the meds were for my child. Needless to say , I am thankful that at least the pharmacist was doing her job. Will be changing doctors !!

Professional, efficient, very informative. The staff were polite and I received quickly what I came for. I love that it is located in the neighborhood and parking is free.

The clinic was able to fit me in quickly and after work which is ideal. The front office and nursing staff were kind and professional. The doctor I saw was very knowledgeable and gave practical and thorough advice for my trip to Peru. There's currently a worldwide shortage of yellow fever vaccine which I need for my trip. I had to call around to a few clinics before I found bowmont which still has the vaccine on hand luckily. Every visit has been efficient and pleasant. No complaints!

I admire Dr Sharona Kaler's professionalism, attention to detail but even more than that, her interpersonal skills. Most doctors race me through but she takes the time to talk and listen to truly understand, then proposes viable solutions and remedies that lets me she truly cares about my health and well being. Thank you Dr Kaler.

Seriously reconsider you options before visiting this clinic - the two doctors we have met at this clinic have been unbelievably irresponsible. But the most horrible experience we had, has been with Dr. Sharona Kaler, our family doctor, who we are considering to change asap. We met Dr. Sharona Kaler at Bowmount clinic when we first moved to Calgary and we were looking for a family doctor to see my husband. We have been going in 4-5 time so far to follow-up on the issue and this is our experience: 1 - Every time we go in, we spend 10 minutes explaining the problem over again, and by the end of the same visit she has completely forgotten why we went in!! seriously, she is constantly using her phone (texting), while you are talking to her. 2 - she referred my husband to do a blood test, but she forgot to list all the things she wanted tested. That means my husband had to go back in to get another referral from her and make another trip to the lab for another test that he could have done with one blood sample - this is completely expected given that she is distracted playing with her phone for the entire session! 3 - She does not seem to know how to approach the problem and to investigate it - she has been sending him to do a few tests, but her interpretation of test results does not match how she handles the next steps. Overall, she is probably the least responsible and the most distracted doctor you can ever consider seeing. Most of the staff are very unprofessional too and as funny as it sounds you can hear the staff and the doctors talking gossip while you are waiting to be helped!

I walked in after having an appointment booked. I didn't receive my medical card yet so they stated to come back and rebook. I got my medical card 2 days after, they refused to book my A's there's No more patients being taken. But a friend called later to get an appt. lovely people.

I have no complaints about this clinic. The RPharm was knowledgeable, and we had no trouble getting an appointment after work. Both times we've been, they had stock of all the vaccines we needed, e.g. Thus time to go to the Amazon jungle. They also sell accessories like bed nets, carry-on sized deet, etc.. Only inconvenience is that they don't do direct billing for insurance.

I used Bowmont Clinic for the second time in March 2016. My issues are as follows: 1) Booking process can be done online--which is great, but you are left responsible for making a follow up phone call to confirm that online appointment. This was an issue for me as I was out of the country and couldn't make the phone call. A couple of emails later it was solved, so not a huge issue. 2) During what felt like a rushed meeting with Dr. Renz, I handed her records of my current immunizations. She informed me I would need another Hep B booster. I told her I didn't think that was correct. She re-read the sheet and told me that it was true, I needed it. I asked her again, as I am a health care worker, and have been immunized for hep B and also had the twinerix (hep A & B) at that very clinic in 2008. She looked at it a THIRD time and only at that point did she realize I was over immunized for Hepatitis, and in fact I did not need the hepatitis shot Bowmont recommended to me in 2008 either. Great. 3) She recommended that I also take probiotics on my trip and asked me if I wanted to get them at the clinic or just pick it up at a pharmacy. I inquired about the price difference and she said it was basically the same. Silly me for taking her at her word--I paid $45 for 50 pills when I just saw the same thing in the store at $25 for 180. 4) During the meeting I was asked about any health issues. I have had a heart issues and arrhytmias, which I was forthcoming about. Nothing more was said, prescriptions were written, and it wasn't until I got to the pharmacy that I was informed that the med combos I was given INCREASE MY CHANCE OF ARRHYTHMIAS. Exactly what you don't want at any time, but particularly when you are planning to spend an extended time in Haiti. The issue was specifically with the antimalarial and the antibiotics. This is a travel clinic...these are extremely common medications. Why was this only brought up at the pharmacy? Why was I not given other options for antimalarials? Or another type of antibiotic?? There are many many other choices. In the mean time, I will sort this out with my family doc, as I will never give this place any more of my time and money. Because at the end of the day, that was what I felt the whole thing was about--a cash grab...

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND this travel clinic. The staff are unprofessional, irresponsible and it is poorly run. Take your business (and health) elsewhere! My husband, infant and I had our consult in the beginning of March 2012 and there was some information that the pharmacist who saw us was going to follow up with me about. I didn't hear back after a month. I called and left messages three different times over the next month regarding this information (it was about malaria prevention medications for my infant and for myself while breastfeeding). I kept getting the voicemail, but continued to leave messages, even if they could just let me know when they could get back to me and that they were indeed looking into it. My call was returned once by the receptionist and she said that they would call me back in two days. They never did. Finally I got through to reception and finally spoke to the pharmacist. It was apparent that she did not look into the information as she said she would because her information was the same as the day we had our consult. She was supposed to compare data for two different preventative malaria medications for my infant and find the safest one for me to take while breastfeeding. She also told me to give the malaria medicine to my exclusively breastfed infant with a spoonful of honey. Infants less than one year are not supposed to have honey... She also told me that public health would give my son Hep B immunization early, which they stated they would not as it was for travel. We had my infant's first Hep B shot on May 18th at 12:45 and had to wait for 10 minutes for the staff to return from their lunch break. Not a big deal. The nurse manager who gave the shot remarked how she had never given a shot to such a young baby. Not reassuring. We made our next appointment for the second shot that day. The nurse manager said she would look up the amount of immunity after 2 shots for us. We had my infant's second Hep B shot June 15th and when we arrived for our appointment they did not have any stock. Furthermore, the nurse manager had not looked up the information for us either. When I asked if they had a pharmacy close by that could supply the vaccine for them for times such as this, she said that the one closest by wouldn't have it (without calling to check) and that I COULD try Safeway. Seriously? Since when is my fault for their lack of preparedness and irresponsibility? She did apologize and said we could rebook for tuesday afternoon and she would order some. She said (with a smirk on her face) sometimes these things happen and there was nothing she could do. I expressed my frustration and asked whether they had some sort of check to ensure that patients would get their vaccine when the appointment was clearly booked a month in advance. Isn't there some sort of way to ensure you have stock for the planned patients you are seeing? She said they do have a system in place. I doubt it. Two weeks before our trip I started arranging to pick up the prescriptions that should have been faxed over or called in to my pharmacy after the phone conversation in April. My pharmacy had no record of such prescriptions. Perhaps their error, but perhaps the travel clinic's as well. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND this travel clinic. The staff are unprofessional, irresponsible and it is poorly run. Take your business (and health) elsewhere! That is, unless you like to leave multiple messages on voicemail, show up to appointments and have to wait for the staff, or that they don't have stock of your vaccine, or that they say they will look into something for you and they don't. If a health care professional says they are going to do something, they should do it. If a clinic is going to book an immunization appointment, they should have stock of your vaccine, especially when it is booked well in advance. I do not think that is too much to ask. Good riddance Bowmont Travel clinic.
