You’ve started your home renovation journey. And now, you’re on the lookout for inspiration to fuel the creative endeavors and learn from those who have been there, knocked down that wall.
To say social media can be used as a source of inspiration is an understatement. In many ways, what we see on Pinterest and Instagram is what nudges us to take the next big step. By hearing about the experiences of others it’s possible to avoid mistakes made when renovating and decorating your home; although no promises of completely avoiding hiccups along the way.
There’s certainly no shortage of inspiration for interior design, but knowing where to start can be a mind field. From DIY projects to home tours, we’ve pulled together our top 12 YouTube channels to follow.
Home Renovations & DIY
Emily henderson.
Stylist, author, and TV host, Emily Henderson has taken over the world of interior design with her vintage—inspired aesthetic that many of us have fallen in love with. Her channel, with 48.5k and counting subscribers, encapsulates everything from finding your interior style to client makeovers whose gratitude is enough to bring a tear to your eye.
The Sorry Girls
A fantastic duo who have created their channel as a means to focus on self-empowerment through DIY. The Sorry Girls ‘ projects and renovations are filled with creative ways on how to tackle challenges that come up when it decorating your home. Whether you want to learn how to use an impact drill, or how to DIY your fireplace, The Sorry Girls have its covers.
Happi Habitat
A relatively new channel and yet Gemma Samuels, host of Happi Habitat , is giving us so much inspiration with the makeover projects she has worked on with her clients. Much of Gemma’s work has mid-century modern aesthetic written all over it, and we love it. As well as home tours, each video goes into detail about why she has made specific interior decisions, giving viewers an opportunity to learn about interiors from the perspective of a designer.
Laura Melhuish-Sprague
From shopping hauls to renovation planning, Laura Melhuish-Sprague has been vlogging her home renovation journey over the last few years. Her channel gives an amazing insight into the before, during, and after of making a house a home, and it’s as much about renovating a home as it is about, well life ; sharing the peaks and troughs of getting an idea over the finish line.
Interior Trends & Tips
Nook & find tv.
Our blog covers a lot of ground when it comes to interior design, and how to achieve specific styles; including mid century modern, farmhouse, Scandinavian, and shabby chic. We launched nook & find TV earlier this year to give you our latest finds and tips for renovating or decorating your home with affordable and stylish products that work seamlessly together. Tune in with me every Thursday by subscribing here .
Whatever your interior design question, Nick Lewis has you covered. His channel is an honest take on emerging interior trends, as well as those that have had their day. His approach to interior styles comes with an emphasis on how to make a look timeless , instead of trendy and that’s a huge difference when you’re working on a budget. In just under a year, Nick has built a community of 184k subscribers, and honestly? We’re not surprised.
Studio McGee
If you love interiors, there’s no doubt you’ll have come across the work of Studio McGee . Husband and wife, Syd and Shea McGee have been working together on building an interior design studio that has taken the world by storm. They’ve redefined coastal and farmhouse-inspired interiors by blending modern elements throughout all of their projects. She Holds Dearly
Simple does it. Sarah, the host of She Holds Dearly , has an eye for how to work vintage thrifted decor into any home. Her channel looks to make decorating simple, while also making the end result unique. With farmhouse interiors being Sarah’s expertise, She Holds Dearly is on to watch for whenever you’re looking for tips on how to style your home with mix and match, old and new decorative pieces.
A look inside the homes of others
Design notes by house & garden.
A short-film series of home tours that will inevitably fill you with country and cottage inspiration. The House & Garden blog is synonymous with interior design, and their channel is no different. From designers to authors, their whimsical aesthetic is perfect for anyone, really but if it’s vintage originality that you’re after, Design Notes is one to watch.
Open Door by AD
Think no expense spared, and a lot of glam. A look inside celebrities’ homes from around the world is a hobby in itself, right? AD has been leading the way in showing the best of architecture, style, and culture when it comes to interior design. Their Open Door series is a showcase of homes that ooze creativity and a reflection of the artistic nature of the celebrities themselves. In all honesty, once you watch one you’ll be hooked.
A showcase of homes that have been defined by Wendy Goodman, New York Magazine’s resident design expert, as outrageous, extravagant, and unusual. Quite the intro for the homes shown in The Cut ‘ Interior Lives ‘ series and let me tell you, it doesn’t disappoint. While short, the films are bursting with eclectic designs that, regardless of taste, will leave you feeling inspired.
Never Too Small
More often than not, small spaces call for big ideas. Never Too Small has dedicated itself to sharing innovative designs for small spaces, including studio apartments and self-contained projects. As more people live in cities and find themselves a home in urban places, thinking about creative ways to improve the quality of life in confined spaces is an exciting challenge in and of itself.
If there’s a blogger you’d like to see on the list, please submit their channel to us at [email protected] . Happy watching!

The 10 Best Architectural Digest Celebrity House Tours on YouTube
Architectural Digest's YouTube channel, and its "Open Door" series in particular, is one of life's greatest gifts. It filled the void that MTV cribs left in its wake when the series ended in 2010... and we're huge fans.
Because it's not every day we real estate addicts get to see behind the closed doors of luxurious, extravagant, and quirky celebrity homes. From a converted windmill in the Hamptons and a duplex penthouse apartment at the Plaza Hotel in NYC to the mansions of the Hollywood Hills in Los Angeles , each home on this list will leave you both in awe and filled with inspiration.
These are the top 10 best Architectural Digest celebrity house tours...
1. robert downey jr..
First up we have Robert Downey Jr. and his wife Susan Downey's converted windmill abode. This is not your run-of-the-mill (see what we did there?) Hamptons summer home, it was designed by renowned New York City firm Fox-Nahem Associates who transformed the late-19th century windmill into a charming and very private East Hampton masterpiece with stunning grounds. The highlight? Susan's office in the very top of the windmill is the ideal WFH situation and we couldn't be more jealous.
In this very humorous home tour we get to see everything from Robert's art projects and clutter closets to their table-side nap zone and numerous cats. If you're in the mood for a chuckle, look no further.
2. Dakota Johnson
If you love all things mid-century modern, this is the celebrity home tour for you.
Architectural Digest kindly bring us inside the beautiful home of movie star Dakota Johnson. Formerly the home of director Ryan Murphy, Dakota purchased the super private Hollywood Hills home for $3.55 million in 2016. Features of envy include beautiful crushed mohair vintage sofas, her cozy office with book wall, gorgeous green kitchen, and backyard oasis complete with citrus trees, a heated swimming pool, and an elevated bamboo-sheltered hot tub area.
There isn't an inch of this lush but humble abode that we don't love.
3. Wiz Khalifa
This episode of "Open Door" is currently the most viewed of all time with 43 million views. It brings us inside Wiz Khalifa's $4.6 million mansion and recording studio in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles.
The rapper's super cool pad features a heated infinity pool with incredible views, a games room with a dab AND booze bar, an underground recording studio, weed-themed photo wall, and a fleet of killer cars. Proof that this man is living the dream.
4. Cara and Poppy Delevigne
You may never find more personality in a home thanks to the Delevigne sisters' jungle-inspired home in Los Angeles.
Nicolò Bini of Line Architecture told Architectural Digest of the home, “I wanted to create a true L.A. moment for them, with nods to California midcentury modern, Laurel Canyon bohemia, Beverly Hills swank, surfing culture, and a little Mexico. Then we tied all that in with Cara and Poppy’s Englishness to give the house another layer of Delevingne charm.” The interior of this home is one-of-a-kind, no doubt about it.
Header image credit: Architectural Digest / Trevor Tondro
Over in Benedict Canyon, Los Angeles , you'll find producer and DJ Zedd's $16 million mansion.
Highlights of this Architectural Digest "Open Door" episode include the incredible canyon and hill views, indoor trees, an art gallery, and a Skittle machine. Spanning a whopping 9,500 square feet, this mansion even has its own detached studio and gym and will soon have a separate "guest-house-bowling-alley-complex". Casual...
You can understand why this is the second most viewed video on Architectural Digest's YouTube with a staggering 43 million views.
6. Kendall Jenner
Next up we have supermodel and Kardashian clan member Kendall Jenner whose serene Los Angeles home was designed by Kathleen and Tommy Clements and Waldo Fernandez. The interior of the home blends super tasteful elements and earthy shades with fun, unexpected pops of color and a calm, peaceful atmosphere.
Keep an eye out for Kendall's incredible art collection including a signature James Turrell ovoid wall sculpture as well as her incredible fireplace, beautiful bar, art studio, dream-worthy chef's kitchen, gold bathtub, glam room, and so much more.
7. J Balvin
Travel with us to Colombia for this next "Open Door" episode where we get to explore superstar J Balvin's tranquil home. Inspired by Japan aesthetics and minimalism, the house features floor-to-ceiling windows that bring nature indoors. The open plan kitchen and living room open up to the great outdoors, with a wonderful indoor / outdoor flow. The pool area is beyond dream-worthy and is surrounded by lush and tropical greenery and bonsai trees.
The minimalism and neutral color palette changes greatly when you enter J Balvin's walk-in closet where over 850 pairs of sneaker line the walls in explosions of color. The man loves his shoes...
8. Hilary Duff
Next we'll enjoy a tour of Hilary Duff's vibrant, colorful, and cheerful family home in Los Angeles . A self-confessed home renovation addict, Hilary has renovated this house twice in the last eight years. The latest one has resulted in a quirky and somewhat eccentric aesthetic with a focus on family, livability, and large spaces to spend time in with beautiful art and tasteful features throughout.
The highlight of this home tour has got to be the chicken coop out in the back yard.
9. Tommy Hilfiger
Journey back to New York with us now for what may be the most luxurious and opulent home on this list. Legendary fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger and his wife Dee reportedly purchased this duplex penthouse apartment at the Plaza Hotel for $25.5 million in 2008 (they've since sold it for $31 million, although originally listed it for $80 million).
This Plaza apartment overlooks Central Park, with incredible views of the city as far as the eye can see. This particular unit steeped in history having once hosted the likes of The Beatles, Marilyn Monroe, and many more iconic figures. You won't find another apartment like this in New York City.
BROWSE: Homes for sale in New York here.
10. Aaron Paul
Come check out Aaron Paul's custom wood and stone Idaho home. Despite the house being enormous, it has a very cozy, almost cabin-like vibe to it, tucked away in the snowy mountains and surrounded by trees and lakes. Just watching this home tour will make you feel warm 'n' fuzzy inside.
With the help of interior designer Jake Arnold and Pearson Design Group, the Pauls purchased and used the wood from three 120-year-old barns to build the house from scratch. Drool over the cathedral ceilings, vast living spaces, stone bathrooms, spacious bedrooms, and an incredible floor-to-ceiling fireplace.
Plus, a bonus one, but a must-watch nonetheless.
11. Naomi Campbell
Last but not least, we just haaad to include icon Naomi Campbell's Kenya compound and airy villa. On the coast of the Indian Ocean, in the tranquil seaside town of Malindi, lies this tranquil and "very calming place".
From the indoor/outdoor flow and two pools, to the restaurant-like outdoor dining area and on-site spa - we've never seen anything quite like this one... take a look for yourself.

Inside the Big Brother house
Tour the famous house and garden in its new London location.
Located at Garden Studios in Brent, north-west London (its previous home was Elstree Studios in Borehamwood), this year's custom-built Big Brother house has been decorated in dopamine -inducing colours, from a cobalt blue freestanding bath to green kitchen cabinets and a pink island.
In an interview with Deadline , ITV commissioning editor Peter Tierney described it as 'the best Big Brother UK house ever and potentially one of the best anywhere in the world'.
Tour the Big Brother UK house below...
The main living area
The hub of the home is a modern, circular sitting area which will become the focus of eviction nights. There are lots of curves (geometric rugs, colourful round stools and a curvilinear sofa), and punchy, vibrant colours used throughout, from dusky teal to rust orange (the multicoloured arched hallway is a particular highlight), as well as plush velvet furnishings.
The kitchen
Notably there's a lot of wood, from the kitchen island to wood panelling used on the walls in the main living area, plus brickwork to convey warmth and character and to add texture.
The bedroom
The bedroom is huge, comprising single and double beds, an arched ceiling, plus a large pampering station.
The bathroom
In the bathroom, the tub stands on a plinth and is surrounded by an expansive vanity area and luxurious lounging space with showers.
The mezzanine level
A new addition to the house, and a first for BBUK, is a mezzanine level with a glass wall which allows housemates to overlook the communal living space. To ensure the upstairs area is fully accessible, it can be entered either via stairs or a specially installed mobility lift.
The Diary Room chair
One of Big Brother 's most iconic and recognisable features, the brand new Diary Room chair is made from 100 per cent post-consumer recycled polyester. It's where housemates will discuss the latest antics and cast nominations on their fellow housemates.
Meanwhile, out in the garden, the Jacuzzi once again takes centre stage and there's even a water tank to collect rainfall to power the hot tub. Additional features include a cosy patio -style seating area and a seating nook in the shape of Big Brother 's famous eye.

Do YouTube House Tours Show Off an Outdated American Dream?
Social media stars exhibit grand houses representing an ideal, home ownership, that is increasingly hard to come by for the average millennial. Millennials might not want it anyway.
YouTuber personalities — lifestyle vloggers, family-oriented channels and beauty gurus — reel in whopping numbers of views when they invite their subscribers into their homes . The house tour is almost its own genre of video, like the makeup tutorial or ever-relevant skin care routine. Unlike those videos, however, house tours are less about teaching and more about showing.
House tours provide a glance into the luxurious lifestyle a YouTube career can provide, showing that internet fame might be the truest fast-track to the traditional American dream of owning property.
Viral house tours are most often in the grandest homes, inviting viewers into McMansions and futuristic palaces in LA. They show off the kinds of “dream homes” one might ogle over on HGTV, except that the owners, rather than wealthy middle-aged couples with fancy titles, are millennials who’ve reached absurd amounts of wealth via YouTube.
Makeup-guru-turned-millionaire Jeffree Star, for example, showed off his palatial mansion in January to 24 million users. The property is quite an accomplishment for anyone, let alone someone who is only 34 years old . “Six years ago, I had $500 to my name,” he says in the beginning of the video, showing how internet success can catapult “ordinary people” to the crest of the almost otherworldly affluence represented by an eight-bedroom compound in Calabasas.
“No dream is ever too big,” Star prefaces his tour, on a backdrop of a massive backyard pool and columned patio. But if YouTube stars think sprawling mansions make up viewers’ wildest dreams, are they assuming that their audiences subscribe to the excessive consumerism that defines U.S. culture ? And if so, are they right?
A professor of international relations at George Washington University, Amitai Etzioni, defines consumerism as “the obsession with acquisition that has become the organizing principle of American life.” Consumerism becomes a “social disease” when large amounts of people attempt to satisfy the higher human needs of affection, self-esteem and self-actualization through the acquisition of more and more goods and services.
Highly anticipated YouTuber house tours perpetuate consumerism because many of them can’t be beat for their opulence and the aura of “made it”-ness their tour guides seem intent on selling. The ACE Family, a young family of four who share vlogs to more than 18 million subscribers, recently uploaded a house tour lasting a full hour.
In this video, Austin McBroom and Catherine Paiz show viewers around their massive compound, which they explain consists of two houses combined together. Amenities like a Steinway piano that plays itself and a game room stocked with real arcade machines promote the belief that spending exorbitant amounts on in-home extravagances represents an exciting marker of career achievement.
However, millennials overall reject lives based around the materialism of older demographics. The benefits of minimalism have resonated with younger generations who realize that acquiring more and more things doesn’t guarantee fulfillment. Buying less means less debt, a smaller environmental footprint and less pressure to impress with newer and better things.
Millennials have a different set of values around money. These values have been shaped by a historic recession, a struggling job market and a record amount of student debt. Those between the ages of 18 and 34 prefer to spend money on experiences rather than goods , and to buy ethically and environmentally conscious products over others. The Tiny House phenomenon stands as the perfect counter-image to the grandiose homes influencers display to their following. Even though internet users gobble up tours of luxury homes on YouTube, millennials’ trending toward minimalism reveal that they aren’t entirely sold on the dream.
Owning a large house also just isn’t attainable for scores of young people looking to buy homes for the first time. A home-buying crisis faces millennials. Rising home prices and crushing amounts of student debt make it hard for the millennial generation to afford traditional homes.
Young influencers like James Charles, teenage YouTube couple The Traphamily , and beauty guru turned lifestyle vlogger Remi Ashten have all posted videos in the past year showing viewers their first homes. Each creator is no older than 25. For better or worse, as homeowners under 30, they represent an anomaly .
However, there is no denying that the house tours are seductive. While the sizes of each home vary, all of the properties are upscale, with luxe architecture and wide open rooms that will require an investment just to furnish. No matter what channel they are uploaded to, house tours attract some of the most views and thus become the most popular videos for any given creator. Commenters gush over the beauty of the home, their own jealousy and their pride at seeing a creator they’ve followed complete a landmark achievement of adulthood.
Owning a home has long been a hallmark of the American dream . Home ownership signifies the attainment of a certain level of economic and personal prosperity that America, “the land of opportunity,” promises. When YouTubers show viewers around their impressive homes, they do more than fulfill their duties as content creators. They’re selling a dream. That is why millions of viewers — subscribers and non-subscribers alike — click on these videos enough times for them to be a channel’s most-viewed video.
Perhaps the popularity of YouTube house tours has to do with the absurdity of watching a 20-something give a tour of a stately property that is all their own. Viewers are attracted to the story of affluence reached at such a young age, but they also know that this story is a fairy tale . With the top 3% of YouTubers making a total of around $17,000 per year, being able to afford a ritzy place is unlikely even for those that try their hand at success on the platform.
While captivating, YouTube house tours miss the mark. Out of necessity, but also out of changing values, millennials’ ambitions consist of what can’t be bought. Despite what the views suggest, for many, “dream houses” will not capture the American dream.

The US and UK restrict the trade of Russian-origin metals
Fatima Hussein
Associated Press
WASHINGTON – The U.S. and U.K. will begin restricting the trade of new Russian-origin metals — including aluminum, copper and nickel — on global metal exchanges and in derivatives trading.
The announcement is meant to follow up on the Group of Seven nations' commitment in February “to reduce Russia’s revenues from metals” as its invasion into Ukraine has dragged on for more than two years.
Recommended Videos
Russia is a key exporter of metals like aluminum, steel and titanium — but British and American officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to preview the announcement, said the economic impact from the ban would be negligible for consumers and producers.
The intent is to limit Russia's revenues from metals, they say, as metals have earned the nation $40 billion in the past two years, according to British officials.
“Our new prohibitions on key metals, in coordination with our partners in the United Kingdom, will continue to target the revenue Russia can earn to continue its brutal war against Ukraine,” said Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen in a news release.
“By taking this action in a targeted and responsible manner, we will reduce Russia’s earnings while protecting our partners and allies from unwanted spillover effects," she said.
The officials said new Russian metals will not be allowed to be traded on the exchanges, including the London Metal Exchange and Chicago Mercantile Exchange. However, metals produced before midnight Saturday in London will be permitted.
Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the U.S. and EU have levied sanctions on Russia’s biggest banks and its elite , frozen the assets of the country’s Central Bank located outside the country and excluded its financial institutions from the SWIFT bank messaging system.
The U.S. and U.K. have also previously sanctioned Russian gold, gas and diamonds.

I love the new LeBron James podcast “ Mind the Game” with LeBron James and JJ Redick because it’s doing so much more than other basketball podcasts. And there’s a lot of NBA podcasts. The NBA has produced more podcasters than any other major sports league in America.
There are several great ones. “ Knuckleheads with Quinton Richardson and Darius Miles .” “ All the Smoke ” with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson. “ The ETCs with Kevin Durant .” “ The Draymond Green Show .” “ The Old Man & the Three ” with JJ Redick. “ The Why with Dwayne Wade .” These are all really strong shows, but most basketball podcasts are a deep dive into who their guests are and what their basketball journey has been like. They don’t usually get into the nitty-gritty of the game itself.
Wade’s young show has been fantastic at trying to get into the feelings of his NBA friends as if he were a therapist. But none of these shows go deep into the X’s and O’s of the game like “Mind the Game.” This is like basketball graduate school classroom stuff. I have been watching the NBA for decades — I remember when Larry Bird and Magic Johnson were rookies. A lot of the time on “Mind the Game,” I have no idea what they’re talking about. They’re going on about “floppy” and “America’s Play” and “X5”; they might as well be speaking Greek. But I am getting something out of it.

What I’m getting is a dive into the basketball mind of LeBron James and how he sees the game. And the message that’s coming through is this man is a genius. His mental approach to the game is next level. I don’t mean mental toughness. I mean his intellectual ability to comprehend and see the game. In one episode, he explained that sometimes in a huddle, the coach will draw up a play and then he’ll look at the defense and he’ll tell his teammates to flip the play, i.e., run it in the opposite way. James says most NBA players cannot conceive of what that looks like without having it drawn up for them. James said he was able to flip a play in his mind while on the floor when he was 10 years old.
This is not specifically about being smart or dumb. I look at smart or dumb as how much accurate information have you acquired and how quickly and accurately are you able to process that information. What we’re talking about here is something else — it’s the ability to use your mind as a video projector. He can see images in his mind so sharply, and he can manipulate those images so quickly that it’s almost like he can see the future because he can precisely envision things in his mind’s eye.
The big message I’m getting from “Mind The Game” is that James has a very powerful mind. So often, elite Black athletes are explained away as being athletic freaks. They say he’s dominant because he’s bigger, stronger and more athletic than the rest of them. Well, James is for sure bigger, stronger and more athletic than most of the NBA, but on top of all that, he has a supercomputer in his skull and that is a big part of his success.
