The nearest airport from Udaipur is Maharana Pratap Airport which is 20 km from the city centre. Popular airlines including Jet Airways, Indian Airlines, Air Deccan, and Kingfisher Airlines operate daily flights to and from Udaipur.

For transportation between the airport and the city after you arrive, you can easily reserve pre-paid taxis or hire cabs once you get at the airport.

2 Days in Udaipur Itinerary: the White City of India

Lake Pichola in Udaipur

Thanks to its five lakes, Udaipur has often been dubbed the Venice of the East or the City of Lakes , and it’s one of my favourite cities in Rajasthan. This Udaipur itinerary for 2 days is perfect for first-timers . It will bring you to floating palaces, beautiful temples and breathtaking viewpoints.

Surrounded by the Aravalli hills, Udaipur was founded in the 16th century as the new capital of the Mewar Kingdom. It would remain like this until 1818 when it became a British princely state.

Today, Udaipur is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Rajasthan and it’s easy to understand why. With its serene lakes, colourful markets and peaceful gardens, it’s a city that does not disappoint.

2 days travel itinerary for Udaipur, India

Lake Pichola in Udaipur

Day 1: Lakes and temples

Let’s dive right into it! The first day of this itinerary will give you an idea of what Udaipur is all about. It will bring you to the city’s most romantic lake, its most famous temple and a spectacular viewpoint.

8:30 am: Lake Pichola

Gangaur Ghat on Lake Pichola

We’ll start the first day of this itinerary by exploring Lake Pichola and its surroundings. Lake Pichola is undoubtedly Udaipur’s most famous sight. It’s thanks to this artificial lake that Udaipur is considered the most romantic city in Rajasthan .

Some of the sights you cannot miss during a visit to Lake Pichola are Gangaur Ghat and Ambrai Ghat . You will have a beautiful view of the lake from both of these places. Note that you will have to pay a small fee (and an extra fee if you want to take photos) to visit Ambrai Ghat.

Tip : Lake Shore Restaurant is a nice place to have breakfast near Ambrai Ghat. You will have a stunning view of the lake here!

10:00 am: Monsoon Palace

Monsoon Palace in Udaipur, Rajasthan

The Monsoon Palace, also known as Sajjangarh Fort , is 10 km (6.2 mi) from Udaipur’s old town. You will need to take a rickshaw to get to the entrance of the palace, and then you can either take a jeep or walk to the top of the hill. The hike up takes approximately 1 hour.

This palace was built for Maharana Sajjan Singh in 1884, and it offers a stunning view over Udaipur. It’s believed that the Maharana built it here to get a view of Chittorgarh, his ancestral home and the previous capital.

Fun fact: The Monsoon Palace is also famous for being featured in the James Bond movie Octopussy.

12:30 pm: Lunch

Head back to the old town for lunch. Some of the rooftop restaurants I liked that are close to the Jagdish Temple (which is next on this itinerary) are Café Boho and Savage Garden (which is on top of Edelweiss Café).

1:30 pm: Jagdish Temple

udaipur trip from delhi itinerary

After lunch, it’s time to head to the Jagdish Temple, which is the largest one in Udaipur. This Hindu temple was completed in 1651 and its architecture is simply stunning. You will find numerous statues of elephants, horsemen, musicians and dancers on the structure’s facades.

This temple is devoted to Lord Vishnu and according to the legend, the marble slab inside the temple has healing powers. It’s believed that if you rub your shoulders, knees or back against it, it will relieve pain.

2:00 pm: Ahar Cenotaphs

Royal Cenotaphs of Udaipur

A place that’s often overlooked on a Udaipur travel itinerary is the Ahar Cenotaphs , also known as the Royal Cremation Grounds . These are a 4 km (2.5 mi) drive from the Jagdish Temple, so the easiest way to get there is by taking a rickshaw.

Cenotaphs are small tomb-like structures that were built in honour of kings, queens and other important people. The Ahar Cenotaphs contain more than 250 of these structures. They were built by the Maharanas of Mewar approximately 350 years ago and they’re pretty impressive!

This is a nice place to enjoy some peace and quiet after strolling around the bustling streets of Udaipur’s old city.

It’s good to know that there is no entry fee to visit the Ahar Cenotaphs. There are guides at the entrance that will ask you for money if you want to take pictures, but this is not official. I gave them 40 INR but you don’t have to give them anything if you don’t want to.

4:00 pm: Saheliyon-ki-Bari

 Saheliyon-ki-Bari Park in Udaipur

The last stop of the day is Saheliyon-ki-Bari (Garden of Maids in English), a romantic garden that’s a 15-minute rickshaw ride from the Royal Cenotaphs.

These gardens were built by Rana Sanga of the Mewar dynasty to offer the queen and the maidens a peaceful getaway from palace life and political issues. You will find marble elephants, a lotus pool and multiple fountains here. It’s the perfect place to relax after a busy day of exploring Udaipur.

Tip: Rainbow Restaurant is another great place to have dinner with a gorgeous lake view. It’s located in the old town; a 40-minute walk or a 15-minute rickshaw drive from Saheliyon-ki-Bari.

Day 2: Palaces and views

On day 2 of this Udaipur itinerary, it’s time to enjoy some spectacular views and head to one of the city’s most famous sights; the City Palace.

9:30 am: City Palace

City Palace of Udaipur in Rajasthan

After breakfast, it’s time to head to the City Palace, a place that you cannot miss on a visit to Udaipur. Its mix of Rajasthani and Mughal architectural styles will take your breath away.

The City Palace was built in 1553 and it’s the largest royal complex in the state of Rajasthan. It was built at the demand of Maharana Udai Singh II when he moved the capital from Chittorgarh to Udaipur.

Inside, you will find splendid halls, amazing palaces, beautiful mosaics and an interesting museum.

11:00 am: Boat ride on Lake Pichola & Jag Mandir

Jag Mandir on Lake Pichola in Udaipur

Next, it’s time to head to the Lake Pichola Municipal Boat Ride Point, which is located opposite the City Palace. From here, you can take a boat ride on Lake Pichola and make a stop at Jag Mandir, the palace, which has now been converted into a hotel, in the middle of the lake.

This boat trip will offer you spectacular views over the lake, the ghats and the City Palace, and it’s one of the top things to do in Udaipur!

12:30 am: Lunch

A great place to have lunch in Udaipur’s old town is Sun & Moon Cafe , which is a 15-minute walk from the City Palace. This place claims to have the highest rooftop in the city. I don’t know if this is true, but there’s no denying that the view from their rooftop is spectacular!

1:30 pm: Mansapurna Karni Mata Ropeway

View from Mansapurna Karni Mata Ropeway in Udaipur

The Mansapurna Karni Mata Ropeway is located 1,5 km (0.9 mi) from the old city, so you can either walk or take a rickshaw to get there.

This cable car ride will take you to Machhala Hill , where you will find the Sri Karni Mata Temple . Although the temple isn’t that spectacular, you will find an amazing view over Udaipur here, which is what makes it worth heading to this hilltop!

Note that you will still have to walk up some stairs to reach the temple and viewpoint once you get off of the cable car.

4:00 pm: Explore the old city, shop for souvenirs and look for street art

Souvenir shops in India

Head back to the old city, which is located around the Jagdish Temple and the Clock Tower (Ghantaghar), and explore its little alleys.

If you’d like to shop for some nice souvenirs from India , this is the perfect place to do so. You will find many shops selling colourful clothes, beautiful jewellery, traditional paintings and more. Do make sure to haggle before buying something, though.

Keep an eye open for the colourful street art and murals that are scattered all over Udaipur’s old city while you’re there. These are Rajputana paintings and their use dates back to the Mewar era.

6:30 pm: Dharohar Dance Show at Lok Dharohar Haveli

Rajasthani dances at Bagore ki Haveli

Head to the Dharohar Dance Show at Lok Dharohar Haveli for the last evening in Udaipur. Here, you will get a taste of traditional Rajasthani dances, and it’s quite impressive, to say the least!

From puppet dances to Rajasthani women balancing (a lot of!) pots on their heads while dancing, it’s a spectacular show that you will definitely remember.

Although there are cultural Rajasthani dance performances in other cities in Rajasthan too, the one in Udaipur is known to be the most spectacular one, so don’t miss it!

Tip : The show starts at 7 pm but make sure to come early to get a good seat. The doors open at 6:30 pm but you can buy your tickets in advance (or book them online via the Dharohar Folk Dance website).

How to get to Udaipur

Udaipur is a well-connected city that’s easily reachable by bus , train and plane , as the nearest airport (Maharana Pratap Airport) is located 20 km (12.4) from the city.

You can book bus and train tickets using 12GoAsia . This is the only website I could find that accepts payments with non-Indian credit cards. Note that when you’re travelling in the north of India, it’s essential to book transportation in advance .

How to get around in Udaipur

Many tourist attractions are within walking distance of one another, but not all of them. Besides walking, the easiest ways to get around in Udaipur are the following:

  • Rickshaw: Although you will have to negotiate the price in advance, taking the rickshaw is a great way to get around in Udaipur. You will find rickshaws nearly everywhere in the city.
  • Ola: When travelling in India, the Ola app is a true lifesaver. This app will allow you to book a car, rickshaw or bike to pick you up and bring you to your destination for a fair price. This way, you won’t have to haggle, as rickshaw drivers try to charge 10 times the local price for foreigners.
  • Taxi: The most comfortable way to get around is by taking a taxi, but note that this is also the most expensive one.
  • Rent a bike or car: If flexibility and freedom are things that you value, then renting a car or a bike to get around Udaipur is the best option.

Best time to visit Udaipur

Like many places in India , the best time to visit Udaipur is between October and March , when it’s not too hot.

In April and May, it will be very hot, as this is summer in India, and the monsoon season is between June and September. I visited Udaipur during the monsoon, in July, and although there were dry days, it did rain a lot.

Where to stay in Udaipur

There are plenty of hotels in Udaipur, it all depends on your taste and budget. You will find my top recommendations below.

Whilst this is one of the pricier restaurants in Udaipur, dining here is an experience in itself and perfect for your first night.

DAY 2 Udaipur Itinerary – Hidden Gems + Cultural Experiences

For your second day on your Udaipur itinerary for 3 days, we are going to explore some more off-the-beaten-track Udaipur tourist spots.

Your second day in Udaipur is all about delving into the culture, nature, and history of the region further. It is great to learn more about Udaipur and the daily life of the locals more authentically, through visiting some more hidden gems.

  • Ambrai Ghat for sunrise (optional)
  • Breakfast at Jaiwana Haveli Rooftop
  • Explore Jagdish Temple

If you’re an early riser, then I would recommend visiting the Ambrai Ghat for sunrise in Udaipur.

This is one of the most significant ghats in the city. The old steps down to Lake Pichola with the extraordinary backdrop of the Old City and surrounding Aravalli Hills make this one of the most picturesque things to do in Udaipur.

However, this is much more than a typical Udaipur tourist spot. Visiting Ambrai Ghat at dawn offers an authentic glimpse into the cultural traditions and daily life of the locals.

Ambrai Ghat is buzzing with life as the sun rises. Lake Pichola transforms into a focal point unifying the locals in their morning routine of bathing and washing laundry.

Ambrai Ghat is a fascinating place to visit in Udaipur. It shows the endurance of age-old traditions in the face of modernity and the spiritual significance of Lake Pichola.

Next on your Udaipur itinerary, head over to Jaiwana Haveli for breakfast.

This is one of the best rooftop restaurants in Udaipur and offers sweeping views of Lake Pichola whilst you sip your morning coffee.

Their breakfast is delicious, with a choice of Continental or Indian. All topped off with a mesmerising view and tranquil atmosphere – you can’t beat it!

Jaiwana Haveli restaurant for breakfast as part of your Udairpur itinerary

For the late morning, we’re heading right to the heart of Udaipur and the Jagdish Temple .

Over 400 years old, this is the largest and oldest Hindu temple in Udaipur.

The Jagdish Temple is an architectural masterpiece, dominating the City’s skyline three stories high. With two elephant sculptures and marble steps at its entrance, it truly is a sight to behold.

The temple boasts intricately carved sculptures and beautifully decorated ceilings. With vibrant colours and breathtaking attention to detail, it is a must-visit on any Udaipur itinerary.

Jagdish Temple Udaipur

  • Lunch at Millets of Mewar
  • Visit Bahubali Hills & Badi Lake for sunset

For lunch, you have to give Millets of Mewar a try.

Located in the city center, this is one of the best pure veg restaurants in Udaipur and has been voted one of the healthiest in India! This restaurant is as nutritious as it is delicious.

Millets of Mewar Udaipur

Millets of Mewar specialises in traditional Indian food with a unique twist. This innovative restaurant offers millet-based fusion dishes, as well as organic, gluten-free, and vegan options.

Opt for rooftop seating and enjoy views of the Jagdish Temple from a different perspective whilst you tuck into some of the most energising, delicious, and creative food from Rajasthan.

After lunch, it’s time to head to Bahubali Hills & Badi Lake .

Located just 30 minutes from the city center, Badi Lake is one of the best day trips from Udaipur.

Badi Lake is a real oasis of tranquility and attracts fewer tourists than the other popular lakes in Udaipur.

There is a short hike up the Bahubali Hills to the viewpoint, which offers panoramic views of Badi Lake from above.

Bahubali Hills Udaipur

Full Post: Bahubali Hills Udaipur: The ULTIMATE Guide To Badi Lake

The views of the lake are simply breathtaking and some of the most beautiful we have seen in India.

This is therefore a must-visit hidden gem in Udaipur for nature lovers looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city center.

This is also one of the best sunset points in Udaipur and is great for those in need of secluded natural beauty and a slowdown of pace. It was the highlight of our Udaipur itinerary.

I would recommend 3 – 4 hours to reach and explore Bahubali Hills & Badi Lake.

The Most Romantic Places in Udaipur

Must Read: The Most Romantic Places in Udaiupr: Ultimate Guide For Couples

  • Bangore Ki Haveli Dance Show
  • Dinner and authentic Rajasthani cuisine at Krishna Dal Bati Restro

Once you’re back in the city center, you cannot miss the Dharohar Dance Show at Bangore Ki Haveli every day at 7 pm.

Bangore Ki Haveli is a fascinating museum in its own right, showcasing Rajasthani art, culture, and history.

However, the real attraction is the Dharohar Dance Show, which takes place in a beautifully lit courtyard.

The show lasts about an hour and consists of traditional Rajasthani folk dance and music. The show is vibrant and colourful, with traditional Rajasthani costumes and instruments.

The talent and artistry of the dancers is extraordinary. This is a perfect way to learn a little more about the cultural traditions of the region from a different perspective.

To guarantee the best price, you can book your tickets online in advance here .

For dinner, I would recommend Krishna Dal Bati Restro for some of the best Rajasthani food in Udaipur.

If you’re interested in authentic food, then this restaurant perfectly captures the spirit and diverse flavours of Rajasthan.

Krishna Dal Bati Restro for dinner on your Udaipur itinerary

Krishna Dal Bati Resto specialises in Dal Bati Churma, the food synonymous with Rajasthani culture and the region’s signature dish. Here, you can enjoy an unlimited Dal Bati Thali for just 350 rupees!

If you want to truly indulge in the flavours of Rajasthan, your Udaipur itinerary would be incomplete without a visit to this restaurant.

DAY 3 Udaipur Itinerary – Departure

For the final day of your Udaipur itinerary for 3 days, you may want to limit the places you visit and stick close to the city center. This all depends on your departure time.

We’ve got one more Udaipur tourist spot to visit in the morning, before a more chilled afternoon browsing the markets and souvenir shopping.

  • Visit Saheliyon Ki Bari
  • Breakfast at Fateh Sagar Lake – Sai Sagar Coffee House

For your final morning in the City of Lakes, you cannot miss a trip to Saheliyon Ki Bari . This is one of the best places to visit in Udaipur.

Saheliyon Ki Bari is a garden oasis and botanical wonder nestled on the banks of Fateh Sagar Lake.

It is a paradise for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts. It is characterised by lush greenery, perfectly manicured flower beds, marble fountains, and blooming lotus pools.

Saheliyon Ki Bari Udaipur

Full Post: Saheliyon Ki Bari: EVERYTHING You Need To Know

Whilst this garden can be enjoyed purely aesthetically, the garden is also a unique heritage site. It was built as a recreational retreat by Rana Sangram Singh of the Mewar dynasty for his Queen and her 48 maidens.

The deep historical significance behind each architectural feature gives a cultural richness to the experience.

After enjoying the gardens, take a short walk down to Fateh Sagar Lake to grab some breakfast – it is about a 15-minute walk.

Note: If cannot function without breakfast first thing in the morning, you can always swap these steps and head to Saheliyon Ki Bari after .

On the banks of Fateh Sagar Lake, you will find Sai Sagar Coffee House and some of the most delicious authentic coffee the City of Lakes has to offer.

Sai Sagar Coffee House

Full Post: The Top 7 BEST Cafes in Udaipur

Here you will find a relaxed vibe with seating overlooking the lake.

Grabbing a bite to eat here and taking a leisurely stroll around Fateh Sagar Lake is a perfect way to spend the late morning on the final day of your Udaipur itinerary.

  • Browse markets + souvenir shopping
  • Authentic Rajasthani Art / Cooking Class
  • Lunch at Cafe Delight

Being your last day in Udaipur, it’s time to browse the markets and do some souvenir shopping.

The main markets are concentrated in the heart of the city, near the Jagdish Temple. However, be sure to venture further afield away from the tourist hub too.

I would suggest crossing the little bridge and exploring the markets on the eastern side of Lake Pichola.

From beautiful textiles and intricate paintings to leather journals and silver jewelry, you cannot beat shopping in Udaipur!

If you’re not pressed for time on your last day in Udaipur, then you could take an authentic Rajasthani Art or Cooking Class before leaving.

Udaipur is famed as the artistic and cultural center of Rajasthan, known for its traditional arts and crafts.

Many artisans from Udaipur are eager to share their knowledge and age-old artistic traditions, passed down and perfected through the generations.

Traditional Art Class with Lala

I would recommend visiting Lala, he is an exceptional artist who offers art classes. You can find him at the location above.

Without a single artistic bone in our bodies, we opted for a cooking class instead. You can book this in advance here .

Before departure, it’s time to grab some lunch! I would recommend Cafe Delight if you haven’t tried it already.

Cafe Delight is a little tucked away and has a laid-back vibe. It offers a mixture of traditional Indian food and Western favourites at a super affordable price.

This was our favourite restaurant in Udaipur and a relaxed end to your amazing stay in the City of Lakes.

Where to stay in Udaipur?

When visiting the extraordinary City of Lakes, you cannot miss a chance to stay in Shalom Backpackers .

With luxurious 5-star rooms but the social vibe of a hostel, this Udaipur accommodation offers the best of both worlds.

Modern amenities with a traditional aesthetic make this the perfect place to stay in Udaipur for solo travellers, couples, or groups.

Located in the heart of the city by Gangaur Ghat with views of Lake Pichola, the location could not be better.

Shalom Backpackers offers a stunning terrace, shared lounge, restaurant, and even a swimming pool!

Shalom Backpackers

Are 3 days enough for Udaipur?

If you’re wondering how many days are needed for Udaipur, then 3 days would be enough to visit all of the main Udaipur tourist spots. You will also have time from a short day trip from Udaipur.

The main places to visit in Udaipur are quite close together which makes things easier.

However, with so many fascinating and unique things to do in Udaipur, you would need a lifetime to explore them all.

If you benefit from time, then I would recommend at least a week. This would allow you to explore the main Udaipur tourist spots, as well as have time to take things slow, browse the markets, and get lost in the winding streets.

Which month is good for Udaipur trip?

The best time to visit Udaipur coincides with the best time to visit India in general. This would be between September – March.

After March, the weather starts to get significantly hotter and can feel a little suffocating at times. When visiting India, it is also best to avoid the monsoon season which is June – August.

We visited in January and had beautiful weather with sunshine during the day and cool evenings. January and February are the months I would recommend.

Well, there you have it! This post has detailed the very best 2 nights, 3 days Udaipur itinerary for an unforgettable time in the magnificent City of Lakes.

48-Hour Itinerary

48 Hours in Udaipur: The Ultimate Itinerary

udaipur trip from delhi itinerary

Forty-eight hours in Udaipur is just enough time to experience the highlights of India's most romantic city. Even if you're traveling solo, this nostalgic city of lakes and palaces will win you over with its heritage, culture, and atmosphere. You'll definitely want to come back for more (and go on a few day trips from Udaipur as well). To help you make the most of your time there, we've put together an itinerary that encompasses a selection of the top things to do in Udaipur and will give you a feel for the city. Do bring comfortable walking shoes because the historical old part of Udaipur is ideally covered on foot.

Day 1: Morning

BigGabig / Getty Images

7:30 a.m.: Get an early start to catch the evocative Dhoop Aarti (worship) ceremony at Udaipur's landmark 17th century Jagdish temple, dedicated to Hindu god Lord Vishnu. This massive white marble temple was built at Jagdish Chowk, near the City Palace, under the reign of Maharana Jagat Singh. Its intricate architecture is incredible to behold.

8:30 a.m.: Fortify yourself with a hearty breakfast at Udai Art Cafe near Jagdish Temple. There are English and Greek options as well as crepes. Top it off with some of the best coffee in Udaipur for a burst of energy. If you'd prefer breakfast the Udaipur way, join the locals for spicy deep-fried kachori at Paliwal Restaurant. In case they're sold out already, try nearby Jagdish Shri Restaurant.

9:30 a.m.: Be at Udaipur's most popular attraction, the City Palace Museum , when it opens to beat the crowds. The Mewar royal family converted a large part of their palace into this remarkable museum filled with priceless personal memorabilia. Many of the rooms and courtyards are features in themselves, especially Mor Chowk (Peacock Courtyard) with its magnificent glass inlay work. Do note that the museum's steps and narrow staircases may make some areas inaccessible for people with limited mobility.

11:30 a.m.: Take a boat ride on Lake Pichola, stopping at Jagmandir Island where there's a 17th-century pleasure palace belonging to the royal family. The boats depart regularly from the jetty within the City Palace grounds. Tickets are available from designated counters inside the palace premises.

Day 1: Afternoon

12:30 p.m.: Get a taxi to Sajjangarh Biological Park on the northwest outskirts of the city and have lunch at Millets of Mewar restaurant near the entrance. This restaurant is dedicated to healthy food made with local ingredients. There are vegan and gluten-free dishes.

2 p.m.: Continue up the hill, through Sajjangarh Biological Park, to the 19th century Monsoon Palace. Maharana Sajjan Singh intended the palace to be an observatory for the monsoon in Udaipur but his successor, Maharana Fateh Singh, transformed it into a recreation and hunting lodge. Although the structure itself isn't that impressive, the views across Lake Fateh Sagar and the city are.

3 p.m.: Depending on your interests and if you have time (you may want to relax and freshen up at your hotel for the evening instead), visit Shilpgram or Saheliyon-ki-Bari on the way back to Udaipur. The arts and crafts complex at Shilpgram has an ethnographic museum that showcases the traditional lifestyles of the various rural folk that inhabit the region. Artisans also sell their wares there. Saheliyon-ki-Bari is an elegant, landscaped 18th-century royal garden created by Maharana Sangram Singh for the queen and her companions to stroll in.

Day 1: Evening

ANUJAK JAIMOOK / Getty Images

5:30 p.m.: Be at Hanuman Ghat, on the west bank of Lake Pichola for sunset. Baro Masi , on the rooftop of the chic Udai Kothi boutique hotel, is the perfect place to partake in a signature sundown cocktail or few. Alternatively, if you're content without a drink, Ambrai Ghat (next to Hanuman Ghat) is where locals go to enjoy the sunset against the backdrop of the City Palace and Taj Lake Palace Hotel.

7 p.m.: The Hanuman Ghat neighborhood also has some of the best restaurants in Udaipur . At Udai Kothi, Syah 's innovative fine-dining is based on farm-to-table and foraging concepts. Upre by 1559 AD , at Lake Pichola Hotel, directly fronts the lake and is the city's most spectacular rooftop restaurant. The menu offers a mix of North Indian, Rajasthani, Chinese, and Continental dishes. Spicy minced rabbit is a delicacy. It's all about candlelight dinners and dramatic City Palace views at Ambrai , Hotel Amet Haveli's lakeside restaurant at Ambrai Ghat. You'll need to book in advance at these restaurants, as they're very popular. Hari Ghar is a more casual lakeside option at Hanuman Ghat, with reasonably-priced local specialty dishes and North Indian cuisine.

9 p.m.: Take an evening stroll through the area, crossing Chand Pole Puliya pedestrian bridge to return to the eastern side of Lake Pichola. The bridge is illuminated at night making for a pretty panorama.

Day 2: Morning

Rudolf Ernst / Getty Images

9 a.m.: With all the touristy must-dos complete, spend the morning delving deeper into Udaipur's old city by exploring its fascinating lanes and market districts. The wholesale spice, tea, and vegetable markets in the Nada Khada neighborhood east of the old clock tower are especially absorbing. It's recommended that you take a guided walking tour, such as this immersive Udaipur Heritage Walk conducted by Virasat Experiences, to discover offbeat places. You'll be able to meet local artisans engaged in jewelry, pottery, and bamboo craft. Plus, have a cup of tea with a family in their beautiful 150 year-old home.

Day 2: Afternoon

12:30 p.m.: Sample authentic Rajasthani cuisine for lunch. Krishna Dal Bati Restro (Gulab Bagh area) specializes in the state's most iconic dish, daal batti churma (daal served with whole wheat bread balls, and coarsely ground whole wheat flour fried in ghee and unrefined sugar). You'll get a wider variety of items by ordering an inexpensive vegetarian Rajasthani thali (platter) at Natraj Dining Hall and Restaurant near the railway station. Make sure you're hungry because the food is unlimited for the price! Those who'd prefer eclectic Indian and international cuisine will like the contemporary village vibes at Oladar Village restaurant in a restored 20th-century mansion on Lake Palace Road.

1:30 p.m.: Now's the time to buy all those vibrant handicrafts that are likely to have caught your eye. City Palace Road is the main shopping hub for tourists but you'll pay less at Hathipol market. If you're interested in Udaipur's miniature paintings, there are several reputable galleries in the Gangaur Ghat area. Gothwal Art is owned by a helpful married couple who are both artists. You can get intricate mehndi (temporary Indian henna tattoo) there too. For those who want to create a trip keepsake instead of buying one, Ashoka Arts at Ashoka Hotel holds painting lessons. Meanwhile, car enthusiasts might want to check out the Vintage and Classic Car Museum on Lake Palace Road (around the corner from Krishna Dal Bati Restro) instead. It has an extensive collection of cars belonging to the Mewar royal family, with the oldest being a 1924 Rolls-Royce 20 HP. The black 1934 Rolls-Royce Phantom II appeared in the James Bond movie "Octopussy."

4 p.m.: Wander through Bagore ki Haveli at Gangaur Ghat, another of the top museums in Udaipur . This palatial 18th-century noble mansion has been turned into a cultural museum with exhibits including puppets, weapons, turbans, royal costumes, paintings, and antique kitchen implements. Make your way to the open-air terrace at the back of the property to soak up the sublime vista of Lake Pichola.

5 p.m.: Grab a snack and coffee at Jheel's Ginger Coffee Bar And Bakery. Settle in for the sunset, either on the rooftop or lakeside deck at the edge of the water.

Day 2: Evening

Olmoroz / Getty Images

6 p.m.: Head back to Bagore ki Haveli to purchase tickets for the evening Dharohar folk dance show , which takes place in a courtyard there. The tickets go on sale at 6:15 p.m., and there's usually a substantial line later on.

7 p.m.: Watch the show at Bagore ki Haveli. It's an enchanting medley of Rajasthani music, dance, and puppetry.

8 p.m.: For dinner, feast on food cooked over coal at Charcoal by Carlsson , on the rooftop of Hotel Pratap Bhawan at nearby Lal Ghat. Choose from a range of Rajasthani specialties, tandoori (clay oven) dishes, grills, or Mexican tacos (which the restaurant has perfected making) for something different.

9:30 p.m.: If you're not ready to sleep, see what's on at The Artist House . This hip new hangout and co-working space for creative types is housed in a revamped 80-year-old theater building. It has two bars, and there are often DJs or live music. The nightlife in Udaipur winds down by midnight, so you won't get to bed late!

This post is perfect for you. It’s a one-stop guide to planning the perfect 2-day Udaipur itinerary. You can follow the itinerary as it is or mix and match it as per your liking. But regardless of how you put this Udaipur guide to use, you are guaranteed to make the most out of your visit to the City of Lakes, also known as the most romantic city in India.

This is a guest post by Vrushali Ketkar from the travel blog Couple of Journeys . Vrushali is an experienced traveller who has explored destinations around the world. She specializes in Goa travel, providing valuable insights to help busy travellers plan hassle-free trips, such as this post featuring the perfect South Goa itinerary and also writes about other destinations such as this guide to planning a Statue of Unity trip .

Why visit Udaipur?

Udaipur is a beautiful city with plenty of things to do, lots of places to eat, and a variety of accommodation options. The people in Udaipur are quite warm and do their best to make your trip enjoyable. Most of the tourist attractions in Udaipur are well-maintained and a delight to visit.

Udaipur is famous for its location on a series of lakes, surrounded by the Aravalli range of mountains, and for the presence of the City Palace and many fine medieval havelis, palaces, temples, and other historic sites. It is often called the most romantic city in India.

How to reach Udaipur?

Udaipur is a well connected city by all means of transport. It’s in the southern part of Rajasthan , and well connected to Jodhpur and Jaipur. A very popular tourist circuit is the drive around Rajasthan in a circle from Jaipur, and including Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Udaipur, and Pushkar. By road, it’s about 4.5 hours from Jodhpur, the closest major city.

Udaipur is connected by train from all major cities such as Delhi, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, etc. And most major cities in India have regular flights to Udaipur.

When to visit Udaipur?

Most of the things to do in Udaipur district involve lots of walking and spending time outdoors. Given that the summers in Rajasthan are extremely harsh, the best time to visit Udaipur is between November and March.

Getting around Udaipur

Many of the top things to do in Udaipur are located around the City Palace and can be easily covered on foot. However, for other places, you can avail any of the following options:

Car: Hiring a car in Udaipur is useful if you are planning to explore the hills and countryside outside of the city, such as the Monsoon Palace . Otherwise, you won’t need it to explore the area in the city, and around the lakes.

Rickshaw: You can hire a rickshaw to take you to any place in Udaipur. You can  hire a rickshaw for a trip or the entire day.

Scooter: Renting a scooter or a bike for two days is a good way to enjoy Udaipur, if you are a proficient rider and have experience driving in India. Many shops around Jagdish Mandir provide scooter rentals. Most tourist attractions have their own paid parking ensuring the safety of your scooter.

Central areas in Udaipur district are congested and there is a high chance of getting stuck in traffic jams, which makes a scooter an ideal way to get around.

Interior of City Palace, Udaipur

What to do on a 2-day Udaipur itinerary?

A 2-day Udaipur itinerary will focus on the best things to do in Udaipur and the best places to visit. We have rounded up all of the must-visit places in Udaipur so you don’t miss out.

Day 1 – Things to do in Udaipur

Sahelion Ki Bari

Start your day by visiting the beautiful royal gardens called the Sahelion ki Bari. These gardens are filled with a riot of flowers and several fountains, however, the primary attraction is the fountain area located right at its centre.

Tip: Try to reach here at 9.30 a.m. when the gardens are just opening for less crowds and better photos.

Sajjangarh or Monsoon Palace

Your next stop should be Sajjangarh, otherwise known as the Monsoon Palace . It’s at the top of a steep hill and you can drive right up to the top through the winding roads of the wildlife sanctuary area.

If you don’t have your own car, the Monsoon Palace has jeeps which ply tourists to and fro. The actual palace is not that well maintained. But the visit is well worth it for the 360-degree views of the city, the lakes, and the entire surrounding area!

Tip: If you are not traveling by your own car, expect to wait for about half an hour for you to get a seat in one of the jeeps.

Jagdish Mandir

From Monsoon Palace, head into the Old City area of Udaipur . A stunning centerpiece of this area is the Jagdish Mandir. Built in beautiful marble, this temple is a great place to visit before having lunch.

Lunch at a rooftop restaurant

The area around Jagdish Mandir is crowded with numerous hotels with roof-top restaurants, many of them lake facing. If the weather is not too hot when you visit Udaipur, having lunch in one such restaurant is a great idea. These restaurants serve typical Rajasthani thalis as well as a vast variety of other Indian food options.

If it’s too hot at lunchtime, ensure you spend at least one dinner on a rooftop facing the lake.

Tip: Try Jagat Niwas Rooftop restaurant.

View of Lake Pichola from Jagat Niwas Hotel, Udaipur

Udaipur City Palace

Visiting the City Palace is number one on most lists of things to do in Udaipur. The magnificent – and sprawling! – City Palace overlooking Lake Pichola is still the residence of the royal family of Udaipur . It’s the second largest palace in India and a large section of it has been converted into a museum and open to the public.

Arrows are placed throughout the palace to guide you forward and ensure you see everything. The Taj Lake Palace Hotel and Jagmandir Palace, both arising from the shimmering waters of Lake Pichola, can be seen from the beautiful arched windows of the City Palace.

The City Palace is well-maintained and filled with priceless treasures. It will give you a good look into the courtly life of historic Rajasthan. Give yourself 2-3 hours to explore this huge place.

Tip: Hire a guide to hear the stories of this fabled palace.

Boat ride on Lake Pichola and Jag Mandir Palace

A boat ride on Lake Pichola is another one of those things you must do in Udaipur. You can buy tickets just outside the City Palace, or (at a cheaper price), lakeside at Lake Pichola.

Taking a boat ride on Lake Pichola is a fun thing to do in Udaipur. It will give you a close up look at the fabulous Taj Lake Palace Hotel and also a great view of the Udaipur “skyline” including the majestic City Palace.

The boat will stop at Jag Mandir Palace, where you can explore this tiny island and stop for a coffee or tea at the Jag Mandir cafe .

Tip: Take a Lake Pichola boat ride at around 4 pm in the afternoon. The sun will be at the right angle for photos of the City Palace.

Mansapurna Karni Mata Mandir for sublime sun set

Mansapurna Karnimata Mandir sits atop a hill in the Aravalli Range that surrounds Udaipur. The Aravalli Range is believed to be the oldest range of fold mountains in India, and runs from Gujarat through Rajasthan to Delhi.

Find out the timing of sunset beforehand to make sure you witness one of the most memorable sunsets of your life. As the sun goes down, the entire city including the City Palace begins to light up. The Mansapurna Karnimata Mandir is the only place from where you get to witness this magic. Well worth the effort to get there – you will experience a sublime Incredible India moment.

You can climb all the way to the top of the hill if you have the time and energy – or take the ropeway.

Tip: The waiting time for the ropeway can be 20 minutes to an hour, so remember to factor this time and reach the temple accordingly to not miss the sunset. Preserve the ticket for your ride back.

Dharohar at Bagore ki Haveli

Bagore ki Haveli is located on the Gangaur Ghat, near Jagdish Mandir, on Lake Pichola. The Haveli offers a Rajasthani folk dance performance every evening, bringing to life the cultural richness of Rajasthan. While the show is a tourist attraction, it also presents very authentic – and spectacular – Rajasthani folk dances in a historic and culturally rich setting. It is one of the best things to do in Udaipur in the evening.

Tip: It’s also fun to just hang out at the Gangaur Ghat or the Ambrai Ghat and watch the world go by

Dinner at Ambrai / Natraj

After Bagore ki Haveli, head to Ambrai, the most famous restaurant in Udaipur. This restaurant sits on Ambrai Ghat which is right opposite the Udaipur City Palace.

At night when the palace is lit up, dining here is a special experience as you get to enjoy the best view of the Udaipur City Palace. Dinner at Ambrai features on every list of things to do in Udaipur.

But if you are not interested in spectacular views and want to try authentic Rajasthani food, you can eat at Natraj , a thali-serving restaurant close to Udaipur Railway Station and a favourite among locals.

Tip: Make a reservation at Ambrai well in advance as it fills up.

Day 2 – Places to visit in Udaipur

Bagore Ki Haveli

Start your day two of exploring Udaipur by going back to the Bagore ki Haveli. Bagore ki Haveli used to be the residence of the prime minister. Now, they have converted it into a museum possessing a rich collection of traditional costumes and paintings . The Haveli contains an astonishing 138 rooms and provides a wonderful peek into the royal lifestyle.

Tip: Bagore Ki Haveli is one of the best places to visit in Udaipur. Try and get here when it opens in the morning, about 10 am, for less crowds.

Local food for lunch in Udaipur

If you are a foodie, one of the most important things to do in Udaipur is to try local food such as Dal Bati Churma and Pyaz ki Kachori .

You can find these items at the small restaurants around Bagore ki Haveli and Jagdish Mandir. The restaurants may not be stylish, but the food is authentic Rajasthani cuisine. After lunch, explore the lanes around Jagdish Mandir and satisfy your sweet cravings by eating piping hot gulab jamun for dessert.

If you don’t want to eat at these small local restaurants and prefer a fine dining experience in an upscale setting with live music, book a table at 1559 AD near Fateh Sagar Lake. A heritage bungalow converted into a restaurant, you can choose garden, verandah, or indoor seating. You can order Rajasthan specialties here such as Lal Maas.

metal and paper figurines for sale at the market in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan

Shopping in Udaipur at Bapu Bazar, Bada Bazaar, Haathi Pole

A trip to Udaipur is incomplete without indulging in some local shopping. Udaipur is famous for silver jewellery, wooden toys and two local specialties: bandhej fabric, and mojris .

Bandhej, also known as bandhani or tye-dye, is a traditional form of textile dyeing that has been used in India for centuries. It is known for vivid colours and intricate designs, and the fabrics are made into clothing for men and women. Mojris, also known as mojaris – and sometimes also juttis, the Punjabi word for them – are leather shoes that have been made in India for centuries. In Rajasthan, the shoes are embroidered and the toes often curl up.

Bapu Bazaar, Bada Bazaar, and Haathi Pole are Udaipur’s main shopping areas. All these areas are located close to one another. You can easily spend a leisurely afternoon wandering through the lanes of the bazaars.

Tip: Bargain heavily. Watch out for shopkeepers selling cheap metal for the price of silver.

Sunset at Fatehsagar Lake

Another wonderful place to see the sunset in Udaipur is at Fatehsagar Lake. About an hour before sunset, head towards the promenade of Fatehsagar Lake . The promenade around the lake is decorated with classic royal arches and in the evening they play Indian classical raga music. The ambience is charming as the sun sets over the lake and behind the hills.

Add a piping hot Kullad coffee to this scenario for a perfect end to the day. After the sun goes down, you can warm yourself up by eating Bombay Pav Bhaji at a nearby shack.

Tip: The experience at this lake is incomplete without Fatehsagar Lake coffee served in a Kullad (clay cup).

Optional things to do in Udaipur

This two-day Udaipur itinerary will give you an outline for the best things to do, but there are many other optional activities you can add to your trip.

  • Old City Heritage walk
  • Jal Sanjhi workshop: Learn the art of painting where water is the canvas
  • Cooking demo along with lunch or dinner
  • Lake loop bicycle tour
  • Temple tour of famous Eklingji and Nagda temples (just about 30 minutes drive from Udaipur)
  • Shop at Sadhna , a woman’s co-operative store that sells clothes and textiles

Places to visit near Udaipur

Udaipur is a good base for exploring southern Rajasthan. The best things to do near Udaipur are:

Kumbhalgarh. Sometimes called The Great Wall of India, Kumbhalgarh is a massive fort dating from the 15th century and inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Ranakpur Temple. Ranakpur is a Jain temple famous for its astonishing size and beauty. Dating from the 15th century, the massive temple is made of marble and contains 1,444 marble pillars.

Chittorgarh. The largest fort in India, Chittorgarh is the scene of many stories and legends. Highlights include the huge Victory Tower, Rani Padmini’s Palace, and Meera Bhai’s temple.

Ghanerao. Go for a walk through an ancient village and visit the Ghanerao Castle.

Dhar-Ubeshwar Trek. An all day trek that starts in a village and meanders along hilly terrain dotted with temples from Dhar to Ubeshwar.

Private pool suite at Oberoi Udaivilas

Where to stay in Udaipur?

The city centre (the area around Jagdish Mandir) is full of hotels and hostels catering to all budgets. Even though many tourists book hotels in this area for the view of Lake Pichola, I recommend avoiding the area if you want some peace of mind – it’s busy, crowded, and can get very noisy.

Some of my top recommendations for places to stay in Udaipur are:

High-end luxury hotels in Udaipur

The Oberoi Udaivilas

This hotel is one of the best hotels in India, and has been voted the best in the world. The property exhibits the architectural grandeur of Udaipur and ensures that its customers experience a taste of majesty and class. The rooms and suites are tastefully decorated, beautifully blending the Rajasthani style of interior design with top-quality modern amenities. The restaurants serve delectable Rajasthani and continental food, and the staff demonstrates the superior service Oberoi is known for. This is the place to splurge if you want to experience truly luxurious service and amenities and feel like a Maharaja or Maharani.

Mirabai, India, travel, journey, woman, women, Rajasthan, solo, Udaipur, Meera, Meerabai, music, Lake Palace Hotel

Taj Lake Palace Hotel

The world’s most photographed hotel, Taj Lake Palace Hotel was the Maharaja of Udaipur’s summer palace until it was turned into a hotel by the Taj Group. An oasis of opulence and luxury, it rises above the lake directly across from the City Palace. Hotel residents only can enjoy the many amenities, including pool, gardens, spa, and dining rooms with spectacular views of the skyline. The fabulous rooms are individually decorated with murals and antique furniture. A very special place.

Mid-range luxury hotels in Udaipur

Jagat Niwas

Located right on Lake Pichola, Jagat Niwas is a 17th century haveli that’s been completely renovated and updated into a luxury hotel. Many of the rooms and suites offer a view of the lake, they are all different and unique, and several feature a jharokha – enclosed balcony. The two-floor rooftop restaurant is one of the best in the city with window seating on one floor, fantastic views, and great food.

Premkunj luxury homestay Udaipur

Premkunj Luxury Homestay

Premkunj is a destination homestay, a resort really, in a beautiful setting among the hills that surround Udaipur. Owner Bhupendra spent 10 years lovingly creating this gorgeous property and it ticks every box. It’s beautiful, comfortable, and has a sparkling pool. Plus, there is a large garden, several indoor and outdoor dining options, and very good food. Staying at Premkunj, among the hills, is a different experience than staying in the city. Fresh air, hiking trails on your doorstep, and stunning views make it a great option. On our list of the Best luxury getaways from Delhi .

Akshay Niwas

This is a tasteful, Rajasthani-styled boutique hotel located in a quiet spot between Lake Pichola and Fatehsagar Lake. The location of this hotel is ideal for visiting all the top tourist spots in Udaipur without the disadvantage of being trapped in the chaotic city centre of Udaipur. The service is highly personalized and the food served at the restaurant is delectable.

Day 1 of Udaipur Itinerary for 4 Days

9 am: breakfast @ cafe la comida.

Some travelers choose a package at a hotel that includes breakfast. If you’re one of them, you’re, of course, sorted. If you are like us who don’t want to limit themselves, you’re in for a treat 🙂

Cafe La Comida , right in the heart of the old city, is a great place to have a delicious breakfast. With the warm and welcoming ambiance, charming setting, prompt service, and good food – you are sure to come back!

10 am: Jagdish Temple

jagdish temple udaipur rajasthan

Just 120 meters from Cafe La Comida, Jagdish Temple is a beautiful Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Apart from being one of the holiest places in Udaipur, the temple is a work of art.

Constructed in 1651 by Maharana Jagat Sing, the erstwhile ruler of Udaipur, the temple showcases stunning Indo-Aryan architecture.

The main shrine houses the idol of Lord Vishnu. Carved out of a single piece of black stone, the idol is a sight to behold.

The main shrine is circumscribed by four smaller shrines dedicated to Lord Ganesha, Sun God, Goddess Shakti, and Lord Shiva. You should walk around the inner sanctum (in a clockwise direction) to seek the blessings of other Gods.

Once you’ve got the blessings, give yourself enough time to admire the intricate carvings and paintings that adorn the temple.

Note: There are a few religious customs that need to be followed when visiting the temples in India viz. dress conservatively, cover your head (carry a stole or shawl), and remove your shoes.

11 am: City Palace

city palace udaipur rajasthan

One of the largest palace complexes in Rajasthan, City Palace is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Udaipur. The construction of this masterpiece was initiated by Maharaja Udai Singh II in 1553 and was carried on by his successors over a period of 400 years.

The palace exquisitely combines Medieval, European, and Chinese architecture. The canary yellow exteriors showcase granite and marble work whereas interiors are intricately embellished with marble, mirrors, murals, wall paintings, silver, colored glass, and inlay.

The palace complex houses many small palaces and other beautiful structures. Suraj Gokhda, Ganesh Chowk, Mor Chowk, Rajya Angan, Dilkhush Mahal, Badi Chitrashali Chowk, Zenana Mahal, Surya Chopar, Sheesh Mahal, Moti Mahal, Krishna Vilas, Bhim Vilas, Amar Vilas, Rang Bhawan, Laxmi Vilas Chowk, Badi Mahal, Manak Mahal, and City Palace Museum are some of the notable attractions inside the complex.

Fateh Prakash Palace and Shiv Niwas Palace have been converted into heritage hotels. Shambhu Niwas is the present home of the royal family.

Badi Pol, Tripolia, and Hathi Pol are the gateways or entry points to the magnificent City Palace.

The palace is not only known for its architectural grandeur but also for its beautiful setting. It is located on the banks of Lake Pichola and is surrounded by majestic Aravalli hills. The highest point of the palace, Amar Vilas offers breathtaking views over Lake Pichola, its islands, and surrounding mountains.

City Palace Museum Timings: 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, all seven days a week. Entrance Tickets: INR 300 (USD 3.80) per adult and INR 100 (USD 1.27) per child aged 5 to 17 years.

Note: Mewar Sound and Light Show takes place at the Manek Chowk in City Palace every evening and the timings change with the season. The ticket prices depend upon the seating option you choose. It’s a great show if you want to know the history of Mewar. We skipped it as we had visited City Palace with a registered guide who had already narrated the stories of Mewar to us.

2 pm: Lunch @ Paantya Restaurant

It’s time for lunch! We dined at Paantya, a multi-cuisine restaurant at Shiv Niwas Palace , and loved it to the core. From the beautiful ambiance, tasty food, and wonderful hospitality to charming interiors, royal vibes, and great views – Paantya surpasses our expectations.

Try their Mewari cuisine.

4 pm: Lake Pichola: Boat Ride & Jag Mandir

boat ride lake pichola udaipur rajasthan

A trip to Udaipur is incomplete without a boat ride on Lake Pichola. It’s a must!

The boat ride on the lake is mesmerizing, no matter what time of day it is. However, travelers endorse the sunset boat cruise as the captivating views of the golden hour from the lake are to die for.

There are four islands viz. Jag Niwas , Jag Mandir , Mohan Mandir , and Arsi Vilas on the lake. Jag Niwas has now turned into a 5-star hotel, Taj Lake Palace , and entry is only allowed to the hotel guests. Jag Mandir or Lake Garden Palace was used as a summer retreat by the royal family. Mohan Mandir and Arsi Vilas are two simple medieval structures that you can witness from the boat.

The boat ride starts from Rameshwar Ghat and includes a visit to Jag Mandir, one of the four islands on the lake. There’s not much to see on Jag Mandir. There’s a restaurant, the Darikhana , which is super expensive and the food is average. You at most need half an hour or so to admire the beautiful garden courtyard and stone carvings.

Boat Rides Timings: 10 am to 5 pm

Tickets: INR 400 (USD 5.07) per adult and INR 200 (USD 2.53) per child from 10 am to 2 pm; INR 700 (USD 8.87) per adult and INR 400 (USD 5.07) per child from 3 pm to 5 pm. So, you need to pay double the price if a sunset boat ride is what you crave!

6 pm: Tea, Coffee, and Snacks @ Brew Villa

Brew Villa is one of the best cafes in Udaipur. With overwhelming options on the menu, delightful ambiance, great prices, excellent service, and not to mention, central location – the cafe and restro comes highly recommended.

7 pm: Dharohar Dance Show @ Bagore Ki Haveli

dharohar folk dance show bagore ki haveli udaipur rajasthan

If you do only one thing in Udaipur, let it be the Dharohar Folk Dance Show at Bagore ki Haveli.

This traditional Rajasthani folk dance and music show bedazzles its audience. The women dressed in colorful Rajasthani folk costumes perform various dance forms of Rajasthan viz. Chari Dance, Terha Taal Dance, Gorbandh Dance, Ghoomar Dance, and Bhavai Dance. From skillfully balancing the earthen pots or lit brass pots on their head to dancing on broken glass to twirling in a circle at high speed – the finesse with which the artists carry out the show is amazing. I feel great respect and admiration for them.

Apart from various dances, you get a chance to see Rajasthan’s famous string puppet art. The puppet show brings smiles to the faces of little ones.

Show Timings: 7 pm to 8 pm and 8 pm to 9 pm

Tickets: INR 100 (USD 1.27) per adult and INR 50 (USD 0.63) per child for Indian nationals; INR 200 (USD 2.53) per adult and INR 50 (USD 0.63) per child for foreign nationals; and INR 100 (USD 1.27) for a camera

Note: You can buy the tickets online or from the ticket counter. The seats fill out fast so it’s recommended to book the tickets in advance.

8:30 pm: Dinner @ Ambrai Restaurant

Now that you’ve enjoyed the cultural extravaganza, it’s time to relish the food extravaganza.

Set on the banks of Lake Pichola, Ambrai overlooks the imposing City Palace, the famous Taj Lake Palace, and Gangaur Ghat. The views are mesmerizing, especially at night when the lake shimmers with the city lights reflecting on the water.

The restaurant serves multi-cuisine delicacies. The food is good, however, the view adds to the entire experience.

Note: It’s a good idea to reserve a table a day before your visit to avoid any disappointment.

8 am: breakfast @ sai baba paratha center.

Sai Baba Paratha Center serves different types of paratha, an Indian breakfast delicacy. A plate comes with two parathas (of your choice), and curd.

It’s your typical hole-in-the-wall but the food is good.

Alternatively, you can also try Yummy Yoga . It’s a rooftop cafe with amazing views and yummy food.

11 am: Chittorgarh Fort

chittorgarh fort udaipur rajasthan

One of the largest forts in India, Chittorgarh is located just about 112 km away from Udaipur and makes for a fascinating day trip. It was recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2013 along with five other forts in Rajasthan viz. Kumbhalgarh , Jaisalmer , Ranthambhore , Gagaron , and Amber .

Built in the 7th century, the fort is mostly in ruins but looks majestic. It echoes the tales of pride, heroism, sacrifice, romance, and spirit of Rajputs. No wonder, it’s called the Pride of Rajasthan .

Guarded by 7 huge gates namely Padan Pol , Bhairon Pol , Hanuman Pol , Jorla Pol , Ganesh Pol , Laxman Pol , and Ram Pol , the fort houses Vijay Stambh , Kirti Stambh , Gaumukh Kund , Rana Kumbha Palace , Padmini Palace , Ratan Singh Palace , Shiva Temple , Meera Temple , Kalika Mata Temple , Fateh Prakash Palace Museum , and Jain Temples .

Chittaur witnessed many dramatic and tragic events, the most notable being the war waged by Alladin Khilji . You’d know the story if you’ve seen Padmavat , an Indian period drama film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Chittorgarh with its impressive palace complexes, massive gates, and historic temples doesn’t cease to amaze its visitors.

Timings: 9 am to 5 pm, all seven days a week

*Fateh Prakash Palace Museum is open from 9:45 am to 5:15 pm and is closed on Mondays.

Entrance Tickets: INR 35 (USD 0.44) per Indian adult and INR 550 (USD 6.97) per foreign adult

Note: Hire a registered guide, especially if you’re traveling with kids, to dive deep into Indian history and culture . Visiting historical monuments like this is a great way to inculcate curiosity in kids’ minds about India’s incredible kaleidoscopic past.

1 pm: Lunch @ Gangour Restaurant

Gangour Restaurant is one of the best restaurants near Chittorgarh. It serves authentic and traditional Rajasthani food at great prices. The owner and the staff of the restaurant are friendly and welcoming. The service is surprisingly efficient.

The must-try dishes are Ker Sangri, Papad ki Sabzi, Gatte ki Sabzi, Kadhi, Dal Bati Churma, and Bajre ki Roti.

4:30 pm: Indian Tea @ Sigdi Chai

You can’t visit Udaipur and not taste the famous sigdi chai at Sigdi Chai . Also known as tandoori chai, sigdi chai is made by placing an earthen cup (kulhad) in a burning hot tandoor with the help of iron tongs and waiting till it’s red hot.

Then it’s taken out and masala tea is poured into it and let it sizzle and froth so as to add a smokey flavor to it. At last, the tea is poured into a fresh clay cup and served.

sajjangarh monsoon palace udaipur rajasthan

Majestically perched on Bansdara peak of Aravalli Hill, Monsoon Palace was built in 1884 by Maharana Sajjan Singh of Udaipur who wanted it to be a grand 9-floor astronomical center but that couldn’t happen due to his premature death.

It was later used as a hunting lodge by the royal family. Owing to its strategic location, the palace became a viewpoint for the royals to watch the clouds, scudding across the sky during monsoon and thus, the name.

The palace is also famous for being the filming location for the 1983 James Bond movie Octopussy.

Day 4 of Udaipur Itinerary for 4 Days

Note: Today’s going to be a hectic day so it’s suggested to grab a quick breakfast at your hotel or on the way from Udaipur to Maharana Pratap Museum.

9 am: Haldighati and Maharana Pratap Museum

haldighati maharana pratap museum

Located in the Aravalli Mountain range, Haldighati is a historical (it has great significance in Indian history) mountain pass that narrates the story of the courage and bravery of Maharana Pratap, the 13th king of Mewar.

It’s where the Battle of Haldighati was fought between the Rajputs and Mughals. It’s where Chetak (Maharana Pratap’s beloved horse) breathed his last.

Located in close proximity is the Maharana Pratap Museum , an effort to celebrate Maharana Pratap, one of the greatest warriors of India. The museum showcases the life and times of Maharana Pratap in an intriguing way.

Timings: It’s open all days from 7 am to 7 pm

Entry Tickets: INR 100 (USD 1.27) per person.

Pangat is one of the best restaurants near Kumbhalgarh Fort. Located on the terrace of Raajsa Resort Kumbhalgarh , the restaurant serves pure vegetarian food and offers both a-la-carte as well as buffet spreads for lunch and dinner.

1 pm: Kumbhalgarh Fort

kumbhalgarh fort rajasthan

One of the most important forts in India and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kumbhalgarh is famed for its wall. Yes, the Fort Wall is recognized as the second-longest wall in the world (the Great Wall of China enjoys the first spot) and is known as the Great Wall of India .

The fort is also known for being the birthplace of the legendary king of Mewar, Maharana Pratap.

The fort remains almost invincible (it’s knocked down by invaders only once during its lifetime) because of its strategic location, well-thought-out architecture, and smart defense strategy.

Enveloped by 13 mountain peaks, the fort is guarded by an imposing 36 km long and 15 feet wide wall, seven soaring gates, and loads of rounded bastions and watchtowers. The fort is so big that it holds up to 360 Hindu and Jain temples.

The sprawling fort complex echoes the stories of its rich and enduring past. Kumbha Palace , Badal Mahal , Ganesha Temple , Neel Kanth Mahadeva Temple (houses 6 feet tall Shivlinga), and Mammadev Temple are some of the important attractions to explore inside the fort complex. And you can’t miss the bird’s eye view from the top of the fort.

The fort is surrounded by the huge Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary which is famous for its varied wildlife. You can book a morning or evening jeep safari if you’ve time.

Note: We totally recommend hiring a government-authorized tour guide if you wish to have a detailed visit and want to learn more about the fort’s remarkable history. Also, be prepared for an arduous uphill walk.

Timings: The fort is open all days from 9 am to 6 pm

Entry Tickets: INR 10 (USD 0.13) for Indian citizens and INR 100 (USD 1.27) for foreigners.

PS: If you are planning to stay overnight near Kumbhalgarh Fort, you can also enjoy a fascinating light and sound show every evening from 6:45 pm to 7:30 pm. The show ticket costs INR 100 (USD 1.27) for Indians and INR 200 (USD 2.53) for foreigners.

You can either hire a car with a driver or join a guided tour like this or this one to visit Kumbhalgarg Fort from Udaipur.

4 pm: Ranakpur Jain Temple

ranakpur jain temple

One of the most beautiful temples in India, Ranakpur Jain Temple is the epitome of architectural genius. Also, the temple is an oasis of spirituality and serenity. It holds a special significance for the followers of  Jainism and thus, is counted among the five major Jain pilgrimage sites.

Legend has it that a local Jain businessman and the finance minister of Rana Kumbha (then ruler of Udaipur), Seth Dharna Shah started the construction of this temple in 1446 followed by a divine vision.

It took over 50 years and two thousand seven hundred and eighty-five workers to complete this architectural marvel.

The temple complex hosts 3 shrines viz. Chaumukha Temple , Neminath Temple , and  Parshawanath Temple .

Chaumukha Temple is the main temple. Shaped as a celestial vehicle (Nalinigulm Vimana), Chaumukha Temple is dedicated to the first Tirthankara Adinatha . It’s intricately carved from white marble and over 1444 pillars hold the temple together. And surprisingly each pillar is individually carved. No two pillars are the same!

Don’t miss to look up. The ceilings are gorgeously carved!

Another remarkable feature of Chaumukha is the idol of Bhagwan Sri Parshvanath with 1008 hooded cobras. It’s carved out of a single slab of marble.

PS: If a pujari (priest) offers to provide a tour of the temple or say a prayer for you, you must pay them a decent amount as a donation.

Timings: Ranakpur Jain Temple is open all days from 6:30 am to 8 pm but tourists are allowed to enter between 12 pm to 5 pm.

Entrance Fee: There’s no entry fee, but you’ll have to pay INR 100 (USD 1.27) for each camera or mobile phone that you are taking inside the temple premises. Please be aware that photography of idols is prohibited.

Audio Guide Service is available at a fee of INR 200 (USD 2.53) which is optional for Indian citizens and compulsory for foreigners.

Note: There are strict rules that need to be followed before you enter the temple. Dress modestly. No bare shoulders and legs. Use a scarf (available at the ticket counter) to cover your shoulders. Leather articles like belts, wallets, handbags, watches, and of course shoes are not allowed. You can store your belongings in a rented locker.

8 pm: Dinner @ Khamma Ghani

What better way to end your trip to Udaipur than relishing authentic Rajasthani food at Khamma Ghani , a restaurant that’s famous for its ideal location (ah, the views!), warm hospitality, nice ambiance, and tasty food. We tried their laal maas, mirchi ka salan, gatta curry, and mewari khichdi.

We spent a night in Kumbhalgarh at The Aodhi and explored Ranakpur Jain Temple the next day morning and then continued our journey to Jodhpur. If you are exploring Udaipur as a part of your Rajasthan Itinerary , you can easily explore all the major attractions viz. Eklingji , Shrinathji Temple in Nathdwara , Haldighati , Maharana Pratap Museum , Kumbhalgarh Fort , and Ranakpur Jain Temple while traveling between Udaipur and Jodhpur.

I loved Udaipur when I visited the city a few years ago. The City Palace is gorgeous and I loved the sunrise over the lake. This is a fantastic itinerary to take in the best of the city.

Great post! This looks like a really good 4 day itinerary that covers so many amazing sights. I’ve love to visit here one day.

Wonderful blog. Do you have recommendations for tour guides to the Chittorgarh Fort?

Thanks for stopping by. Here’s a list of government-approved local guides for Chittorgarh .

Very nice Itinerary including the timings. Did you carry out excursions yourself or your hired local guides? If yes, it will be good to provide their contact information.

Hey Rajesh,

Thank you for the kind words on the itinerary! We hired a chauffeur-driven car for our trip through Rajasthan, which eventually became a fantastic decision. Our driver, a local from Udaipur, knew the area well. He doubled as a guide, offering invaluable local insights and tips throughout our journey, adding a personal and authentic touch to our experience. I have the driver’s contact number, though his name escapes me at the moment. However, I strongly suggest hiring a local driver-guide for a more immersive and enjoyable trip in Rajasthan. I can’t share his contact number publicly for privacy and security reasons, so I’m mailing it to you.

This Udaipur travel guide contains a list of the best places to visit in Udaipur in 2 days along with all the travel information to help you plan a trip to Udaipur, Rajasthan.

Udaipur, also known as the Venice of the East or the city of lakes, is aptly termed so. With many-a lakes set both within and outside the city limits as well as the delightful ghats set along the lake-side, Udaipur oozes a regal charm. In case you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know I spent a good 10 days exploring the cities of Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, and Udaipur in the state of Rajasthan in India. While I loved spending time in all of these cities, the white marble structures, shimmering lakes, surreal sunsets and the striking havelis of Udaipur stole my heart. Walking along the narrow lanes of the old town set next to lake Pichola, watching the local vendors lure tourists inside their shops with colourful garments, glittering jewels, and fascinating turbans while gorging on the kachori , a local street food, was an experience like none other.

Getting Around Udaipur

A majority of the sightseeing places in Udaipur are set in the old city, around Lake Pichola. Due to this, if you stay within the old city, you can simply walk or take a tuk-tuk to almost all the places to visit in Udaipur. However, you may need to hire a cab or tuk-tuk for half a day to visit some of the other sightseeing spots which lie farther away from the city center.

Where to Stay in Udaipur

Zostel udaipur.

Rooftop at Zostel Udaipur

View from the rooftop at Zostel Udaipur

Throughout my 3 days in Udaipur, I stayed at Zostel Udaipur which is next to the Swaroop Sagar Lake, right next to Lake Pichola near the old city. This backpacker hostel has both dorm rooms as well as private rooms. The best part about this hostel was the lavish rooftop cafe that had marble tabletops, metal chairs with elaborate designs on them along with plants and cheerful flowers. I cannot put into words how dreamy it was to watch the sunrise from here. Plus, the delicious dinners sitting at the rooftop, while watching the lights of the city reflect in the water of the lake ahead was nothing short of spectacular.

Hotels in Udaipur

Coming to finding other hotels in Udaipur, I strongly suggest booking a hotel near Lake Pichola, which will make it easy to access all the places to visit in Udaipur in 2 days. Additionally, there’s nothing like waking up to watch the sun glimmer in the waters of the lake, while staying at a hotel near the lake in Udaipur.

Best Places to Visit in Udaipur in 2 Days

1. lake pichola.

Lake Pichola in Places to visit in Udaipur in 2 days

Lake Pichola is an artificial lake, built-in 1362 AD in order to fulfil the agricultural and drinking water needs of the city. In the present day, Lake Pichola is the most popular attraction in Udaipur, with many other sightseeing places situated around the lake. There are 4 islands on this lake and visitors can indulge in a boat ride to visit these islands. I suggest taking a sunset boat ride on Lake Pichola to watch the sun go down behind the Aravali hills in the distance, with its orange hues reflecting in the water of the lake. Apart from that, there are numerous cafes and restaurants offering the most amazing views of the lake both from up-close and from rooftops. Moreover, there are numerous ghats to sit and enjoy watching the sun setting behind the lake, with Gangaur Ghat and Ambrai Ghat being the most visited ones.

2. Ganguar Ghat

Ganguar Ghat - Places to visit in Udaipur in 2 days

Gangaur Ghat is the main ghat on Lake Pichola that is located near the Jagdish temple area in the old town. The ghat is identified and made popular due to the iconic Bagore ki Haveli, which lies on one end of Gangaur Ghat. There are steps leading down to the lake here. In the mornings you’ll see locals walking along the ghat and bathing here whereas, in the evenings, the place is crowded with tourists sitting on these steps, waiting to watch and capture the sunset across the ghat. While I loved the view and the setting of the ghat, the place was dirty. It could definitely use some maintenance as well as some more benches for people to sit.

3. Bagore ki Haveli

Ganguar ghat in Places to visit in Udaipur in 2 days

Bagore ki Haveli is a haveli, or traditional mansion, set along Lake Pichola, on one end of Gangaur Ghat. While the expansive palace is quite impressive, with over hundred rooms, multiple courtyards and incritate mirror work used for decoration, it's the cultural show at Bagore ki Haveli which is the highlight of the place. For one hour in the evening, the haveli lights up and becomes home to a traditional folk dance show. The tickets to the dance show can be purchased online or in-person on the spot at the haveli. This cultural show is held every evening at the Neem courtyard of Bagore ki Haveli.

Open all days 9.30 am to 5.30 pm

4. City Palace

City Palace Places to visit in Udaipur in 2 days

Similar to most of the other places to visit in Udaipur in 2 days, the City Palace of Udaipur is set along Lake Pichola. A sprawling palace built in the 16th century, it is one of the main attractions in Udaipur. The Palace has many-a sprawling courtyards and glorious rooms in decadent colours signifying the opulence of the Rajput royal families that once lived here. Many of the corridors and rooms in Udaipur’s city palace open up to splendid views of the city. Not just that, the lavish mirror work in some sections is worthy of being labelled as instagrammable. Spare at least 2 hours to walk around, revel in the glorious history and to soak in all the royal vibes at city palace.

5. Jag Mandir

Jag Mandir in Places to visit in Udaipur in 2 days

Jag Mandir, also known as the Lake Garden Palace is a palace built on a small island on Lake Pichola. The palace has been converted into a hotel owned by the HRH group. People wishing to stay at an island palace can book a stay at the rooms here. The hotel also has a restaurant with the most breathtaking view. For those who are not staying at the palace but who wish to visit it, can hire a boat ride from the Bansi Ghat jetty to visit the Jag Mandir Palace. Visitors can also dine at the restaurant here. Note that there is a minimum cover charge here and you need to reserve a table in advance so be prepared accordingly in case you wish you dine here. It’s best to visit the Jag Mandir around the time of sunset so that you can take a quick tour of the palace and then watch the sunset either from the restaurant or from the boat ride back.

Open all days 10 am to 6 pm

6. Jagdish Temple

Jagdish temple in Places to visit in Udaipur in 2 days

Jagdish temple is yet another one of the popular places to visit in Udaipur in 2 days. The architecture and the marble steps leading up to the temple are both very interesting. The temple is located just a short walk from both City Palace and Gangaur Ghat as well as Bagore ki Haveli. So if you’re going from the City Palace towards Bagore ki Haveli (and consequently Ganguar Ghat) or vice-versa, you can visit Jagdish temple on the way.

7. Doodh Talai

Doodh talai in Places to visit in Udaipur in 2 days & Udaipur travel guide

Doodh Talai, translated to ‘milk lake’ from Hindi, is a tiny but picturesque lake next to Lake Pichola. Situated at a walking distance from some of the important sightseeing places such as the City Palace and Jagdish temple, the lake is surrounded by small hillocks, has clear water and white ornate structures all around it. There are lots of street food ventors around the lake and activities such as boating and horse rides are also provided here. Additionally, while you’re here, do take the ropeway up to Karni Mata temple for the most breathtaking sunset view.

8. Royal Cenotaphs

Royal cenotaphs in places to visit in Udaipur in 2 days & Udaipur travel guide

One of the most underrated places to visit in Udaipur, Royal Cenotaphs or Ahar Cenotaphs are a group of 250 cenotaphs built as a memorial to Rajput maharajas. While there is no entry fee for the cenotaphs, the nearby Ahar Museum charges a nominal fee to enter. Since the Royal Cenotaphs are located inside the city, you will need to hire a tuk-tuk or a cab to get here, if you're staying near Lake Pichola. Also note that there is a sign here saying photography is not permitted but hardly anyone follows this rule. If you’re looking for offbeat places to visit in Udaipur, then the Ahar Cenotaphs are the place to go to!

Shopping in Udaipur

Shopping in Udaipur

Hathi pol bazaar, which lies within walking distance of Zostel Udaipur, is one of the best places to do shopping in Udaipur. There are innumerable shops selling clothing in local prints, handicraft items as well as traditional jewellery. Ahmedabadwala was one of the noteworthy jewellery shops that I discovered in this market. While it may look like a tiny, dismissive place, don’t judge it by its appearance. The sweet old man who runs the shop had the most amazing collection of jewellery in mirror work, Kundan work, Meena work, handpainted work and more. Not just that, the jewellery was available in multiple price ranges, going from a mere INR 100-150 up to thousands of rupees. I recommend this shop to anyone looking to shop for traditional jewellery in Udaipur. Furthermore, I picked up vintage handpainted postcards from Sakshi Art School, which is situated right next to Zostel Udaipur. Once again, the kind man who runs this art school was so sweet that I couldn't help including his store/ art school in this Udaipur travel guide.

Where to Eat in Udaipur - Best Restaurants and Cafes in Udaipur

No trip to Udaipur is complete without gorging on a scrumptious Rajasthani thali and sitting in a nice cafe or restaurant at Lake Pichola. While there are numerous places where you can do both of the aforementioned things in Udaipur, I’ve mentioned two of the top restaurants and cafes in Udaipur, based on my experience in the city.

Places to eat in Udaipur - Jheel cafe

What is one of the most amazing cafes in Udaipur city, Jheel cafe lies near Gangaur Ghat, sitting pretty right next to Lake Pichola. The cafe has two levels - the top floor where you can get a nice view of the lake and the section which has a more extensive menu. On the other hand, the bottom floor of Jheel cafe has a limited menu and limited seating. However, this is where there's a catch. What most people miss observing is that there’s a small door at the bottom level which leads to a small open-air section where it almost feels as if you’re touching the lake. I loved sitting here, enjoying a hot cup of tea on a cool wintery morning, taking in the beauty of the lake in front of me.

Tribute Restaurant

Places to eat in Udaipur - Tribute restaurant

Tribute restaurant is an upscale restaurant located directly opposite to Zostel Udaipur, on the other side of the lake. The restaurant has the most amazing view of the lake in the evening, with lights of the restaurant and the city shimmering in the placid water. Even though the restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating, I would recommend sitting outside for the best views and a phenomenal ambience. The food tasted good but I did not enjoy the cocktails here. You may need to call ahead and reserve a table during the tourist season, in order to be assured a table.

Udaipur Itinerary For 2 Days

  • September 1, 2023

Udaipur, hemmed by the scenic Aravalli and sitting on the picturesque Lake Pichola, has an unrivaled setting and is THE most beautiful city in Rajasthan . It is also known as “The City of Lakes” and “Venice of the East” as it is surrounded by many serene artificial lakes, including Fateh Sagar Lake, Jaisamand Lake, and Rajsamand Lake. Every nook and cranny of the romantic city will captivate you with its intriguing past, cultural vibrancy, architectural marvels, local folklore, and stunning splendor. It exudes old-world charm and has the perfect laid-back vibes to help you escape the hustle and bustle of city life.

Rana Udai Singh founded Udaipur as the new capital of the Mewar Kingdom in the 16th century. The royal town remained the capital of Mewar until 1818 when it became a princely state of British India. As a result, it is not surprising that the entire region is liberally dotted with tranquil temples, historic Havelis, imposing forts, and floating palaces. The best places to visit in Udaipur are scattered throughout the town. However, because the city is small, you can see most of it in two days if you plan well. This guide has you covered, as it walks you through a curated itinerary that includes top attractions.

udaipur trip from delhi itinerary

Udaipur Itinerary: Day 1

Start your day early if you want to make the most of your limited time here. The Jagdish Temple is located in the heart of the old city, and one must pass through it to get to the City Palace. So we’ll start with Jagdish Temple and then move on to City Palace, a must-see landmark in Udaipur. It will be lunchtime by the time you finish City Palace. Many lake-facing hotels, restaurants, and rooftop bars surround the lake, allowing you to enjoy the view while grabbing a bite. After lunch, you can take a boat ride with a stop at Jag Mandir Palace and then go shopping. If you’d rather watch the sunset over Lake Pichola, you can shop first and then return for a gorgeous sunset. After a long and exhausting day of sightseeing and shopping, it is best to have a leisurely dinner and retire early.

1). Jagdish Temple, Udaipur

The Jagdish Temple was built in 1651 AD by Maharana Jagat Singh and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the preserver of the Universe. It features an impressive four-armed statue of Lord Vishnu carved from a single piece of black stone. To reach the largest temple in Udaipur, one must climb 32 steep marble stairs. The three-story Indo-Aryan temple has been adorned with ceiling art, ornate shrines, elegant sculptures, painted walls, carved pillars, and a Garuda statue. Photography is not permitted inside the Jagdish Temple. Follow temple protocol by removing your shoes and covering your shoulders and knees. Visit Timings : 4:30 am – 1 pm & 5 pm – 8 pm Visiting Duration : 30 minutes Entry Charges : Free

udaipur trip from delhi itinerary

2).  City Palace, Udaipur

The City Palace is just a short walk from Jagdish Temple. This marble and granite palace is the highlight of your Udaipur itinerary. City Palace is located on a hill and provides a 360-degree view of the city and the lake. Maharana Udai Singh built the grand palace on the banks of Lake Pichola in 1559 AD. It was constructed over 400 years ago with contributions from several rulers of the Mewar dynasty. From the outside, City Place resembles a fort, and the architecture is a perfect blend of Rajput and Mughal designs. You’ll need at least two hours to explore the maze of hidden rooms, corridors, terraces, courtyards, gates, museums, and gardens. Admire the spectacular grandeur of Bhim Vilas, Sheesh Mahal, Badi Mahal, Zenana Mahal, Amar Vilas, and Mor Chowk. The memorabilia, furniture, and paintings on display at the Museum and Crystal Gallery (extra charge) are impressive. Photography is permitted for a fee. Location: Silawat Wadi. Visit Timings : 9:30 am- 5:30 pm (no tickets after 4:30 pm) Visiting Duration: Entry Charges: Rs.30/    Museum Entry Charge: Rs 250/

3).  Lake Pichola, Udaipur

Lake Pichola is one of Udaipur’s largest and oldest artificial freshwater lakes, and there is a lot going on around it. The lake was created initially as a pond in 1362 AD by a nomad named Picchu Banjara. Maharana Udai Singh later commissioned the development of this pond and expanded the lake by constructing a stone masonry dam. Lake Pichola is home to the exquisite Jag Mandir and the Lake Palace Hotel (Jag Niwas). The Taj Lake Palace Hotel is one of the most unique hotels in the world, but you can only visit it if you stay there. Take a boat ride on Lake Pichola, especially at sunset, to take in the incredible views. The government-operated ferries depart from Municipal Boat Ride Point (no stops at the Jag Mandir Palace). If you don’t want to get on a boat, Gangaur Ghat is another great place to watch the sunset, with the entire city painted in golden hues.

4).  Jag Mandir, Udaipur

During your boat ride, you have the option of stopping at Jag Mandir, an island on Lake Pichola. Boats for Jag Mandir depart from the City Palace jetty. Since Jag Mandir is a private domain, you must purchase a separate ticket to gain access. You can also rent a private boat where you won’t have to share space with anyone. Jag Mandir Palace, also known as “Lake Garden Palace,” dates back to the 17th century and is finely crafted with intricate Rajput and Mughal architecture. The luxurious Gul Mahal and the beautifully manicured gardens are a sight to behold. The palace has now been converted into a hotel and is a popular venue for royal Indian weddings . If you’re hungry, stop by Darikhana, which serves delectable Rajasthani cuisine . Visit Timings: 10 am – 6 pm Visiting Duration: 30 minutes Entry Charges: Free

udaipur trip from delhi itinerary

5).  Shop in the Local Markets

A trip to Udaipur would be incomplete without exploring the narrow and winding streets of the city. The lively bazaars are lined with quaint and artsy shops, as well as street vendors. Hathipole, Bapu bazaar, and the area around Jagdish Temple are great places to stock up on silver jewelry, bandhani/batik clothing, leather items, Mojadis, miniature paintings, local handicrafts, and endless souvenirs . When doing street shopping , bargain hard because shopkeepers usually quote 2-3 times the actual price. Those looking for high-end bohemian clothing and accessories should go to the boutiques and the Ganesh Emporium. Authentic handicrafts, as well as mirrored bags by Vipul Shah, can be found there. While you’re there, keep an eye out for the street art and murals that are all over Udaipur’s old city.

Udaipur Itinerary: Day 2

Today we would be stepping out of the main city. Begin your day with a visit to the Monsoon Palace, which is located 9 kilometers from the city center. After reaching the hilltop and admiring the panorama, proceed to Fateh Sagar Lake, which is the next stop. We spend some leisure time there before heading to Shilpgram. A few hours spent at the artisan village will add a cultural twist to your Udaipur vacation. Shilpgram’s restaurant serves mouth-watering traditional fare for lunch. Return to your hotel to freshen up before the Bagore ki Haveli cultural spectacle. After you’ve finished watching the show, eat your dinner and call it a day.

Monsoon Palace

1).  Monsoon Palace, Udaipur

Monsoon Palace, also known as Sajjan Garh Palace, is located on top of the Bansadara Hills, just outside of Udaipur. The 19th-century regal edifice built by Maharana Sajjan Singh was intended to be an observatory to track monsoon clouds, hence the name. The project was never finished because the king passed away, and the royal family started using it as a hunting and recreation lodge. You may ride a shared taxi/van to get to the fort. If you have a car, you can drive up to the palace. The hike takes about 1-2 hours as it is all uphill the entire way. The palace features a variety of pillars, domes, turrets, and jharokas in the true Rajasthani style, all made of marble with intricate inlay. The structure, however, is poorly maintained, and there is not much to see there. The primary purpose of our visit is to experience the sweeping panoramas of Udaipur, including all of its beautiful palaces and lakes. Visit Timings : 9 am – 5 pm Visiting Duration: 2 hours Entry Charges for Indians/Foreigners: Rs.110/Rs.300

2).  Fateh Sagar Lake, Udaipur

Fateh Sagar Lake is another artificial body of water that was built during the reign of Maharana Jai Singh in 1678 AD. While visiting the lake, you can take in spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and verdant gardens. On the shimmering blue waters, you can ride a boat, speed boat, or jet ski. If you don’t feel like taking a spin on the water, you can sit on the benches facing the lake and soak in the beauty of the area while watching the locals enjoy their day. The lake is also home to Udaipur’s solar observatory. Don’t pass up the opportunity to gorge yourself on the wide selection of local snacks offered by the countless street food vendors stationed there.

Fateh Sagar Lake

3).  Shilpgram, Udaipur

Shilpgram is a 70-acre village-themed arts and crafts complex on the outskirts of Udaipur. The compound includes small huts made of mud and other natural building materials which highlight the ethnic diversity of India’s western states. Shilpgram has an ethnographic museum that showcases the lifestyles and cultures of the people and tribals who live in this region. Additionally, there are shopping opportunities, camel rides, live pottery demonstrations, cultural events, and authentic village vibes for visitors to enjoy here. An excellent spot to buy local treasures and support local artisans. It also has a large open-air amphitheater with seating for 8000 people. Visit Timings: 11 am – 7 pm Visiting Duration: 2-3 hours Entry Charges for Indians/Foreigners: Rs.30/Rs.50

4).  Bagore ki Haveli, Udaipur

Dharohar Folk Dance is an evening cultural extravaganza held in the courtyard of Bagore ki Haveli, an old mansion turned museum. The glasswork and mural paintings on the Haveli make it very beautiful. However, the Haveli closes at 5:30 p.m., after which the entire area transforms into a cultural spectacle. The hour-long show is a captivating medley of Rajasthani music, dance & and puppetry presented by local artists dressed in vibrant local attire. Tickets sell out quickly, so arrive early to ensure a spot or book your tickets ahead of time. Show Timings: 7 pm Visiting Duration: 1.5 hrs Entry Charges for Indians/Foreigners: Rs.90/Rs.150

Alternate Tour Suggestions:

If one of the above attractions does not pique your interest, you can switch to one of the attractions listed below. Everything in Udaipur is close and easily accessible, so minor changes to the itinerary will not create any issues.

Saheliyon li Bari:   The Garden of Maids, sitting along the banks of Fateh Sagar Lake, offers lotus pools, crystalloid fountains, chiseled kiosks, marble pavilions, and elephant-shaped structures. The elegant garden was created by Maharana Sangram Singh and presented to his queen and her 48 maids. The queen along with her female companions used to come here for recreation.

Ahar Cenotaphs :   A cenotaph is an empty tomb or monument built to honor the deceased, in this case, the Maharajas of Udaipur. There are a total of 250 cenotaphs and 19 chhatris to commemorate the 19 maharajas who were cremated at the Ahar Cenotaphs. All of the cenotaphs in the Ahar Cemetery have exquisitely carved domes, charming statues, and columned pavilions.

Best Time To Visit?

Udaipur is best visited between October and March. The hotels would be quite pricey, though, as this is the busiest travel season for both locals and international travelers. In December and January, it may get a little chilly, but nothing a couple of layers can’t fix. The months of April and May are unbearably hot, and the monsoon season lasts from July to September . However, Udaipur is spectacular during the rainy season, with the city and its outskirts covered in lush greenery. If you go in September, you may be able to avoid the worst of the rain.

How to Reach Udaipur?

Since Udaipur is an internationally renowned tourist attraction, you should have no trouble finding modes of transport that fit your needs and price range. Before planning your trip, make sure to check the most recent travel advisories, road conditions, and schedules. Make your transport arrangements ahead of time.

  • By Air: The Maharana Pratap Airport, also known as Dabok Airport, serves Udaipur. Fly into this airport from major Indian cities such as Delhi , Mumbai , Jaipur, and others. The airport is approximately 22 kilometers from the main city, and you can take a taxi to the city center.
  • By train: The two main railway stations in Udaipur are Udaipur City Railway Station and Rana Pratap Nagar Railway Station. Udaipur is conveniently linked to most parts of India by train, with multiple alternatives from major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur , and Ahmedabad, among others.
  • By Road: Udaipur is accessible by road thanks to an extensive network of national and state highways. You can drive to Udaipur from nearby cities and states. Buses (state-run and private) leave from cities such as Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Delhi, and Mumbai. You can also travel to Udaipur by car or taxi.

How to Get Around in Udaipur?

Many attractions of Udaipur are within walking distance of one another. Keep in mind that traffic in Udaipur can be clogged up, particularly in popular tourist areas, so plan your journey accordingly.

  • Walking: The old city of Udaipur is very walkable, and this can be a great way to explore the narrow streets, markets, and famous landmarks. Walking is the best way to get a feel of the old city and its intriguing culture.
  • Auto Rickshaws: They are the city’s most affordable mode of transportation and can be found almost anywhere. They work best for short distances within city limits. Before beginning your ride, negotiate the fare or request that the driver use the meter. They can also be rented through Uber and Ola
  • Cycle Rickshaws:  In some areas of the city, cycle rickshaws are an option for a more leisurely and environmentally friendly ride. They are slower but provide a one-of-a-kind experience.
  • Taxis: They are more comfortable and convenient, especially if you are traveling with a group or have a lot of luggage. You can book them through your hotel or Uber and Ola. Ride-hailing apps are the best option to avoid being charged extra.
  • Car Rentals: If you prefer the flexibility and independence of having your own vehicle, you can rent a car with a driver. This is particularly helpful if you intend to visit attractions outside of the city. Do not attempt to drive because traffic in most Indian cities is chaotic.
  • Guided Tours: Joining guided tours , whether walking tours or organized day trips, can be a convenient way to explore Udaipur’s attractions with the insight of a local guide.
  • Bicycle Rentals: If you’re feeling adventurous, rent a bicycle and explore the city at your own pace. The relatively flat terrain of Udaipur makes it great for cycling.
  • Two-wheelers: You can easily rent them from shops after putting down a deposit. They are inexpensive and provide you with flexibility. However, driving anything on Indian roads is never easy.

Extra 2 days in Udaipur: Stay in Udaipur for 5 days!

Who likes to travel with luggage?! Not me. 😉

Spend an extra 2 days in Udaipur, and you can make it a day trip to to 2 important forts in Rajasthan:

  • Chittorgarh Fort
  • Kumbhalgarh Fort

These are both forts with UNESCO world heritage status.

And it’s reasonable to make these day trips from Udaipur.

Then, when you can return, you can relax at your lakeside accommodation or a lakeside restaurant!

Day trip from Udaipur to Chittorgarh Fort

Best places to visit in Udaipur in 5 days: Day trips from Udaipur to Chittogarh by bus or train. Public transportation. Backpacking Rajasthan, North India

For Chittogarh Fort, I went from Udaipur to Chittorgarh by bus, and then from Chittorgarh to Udaipur by train.

See more about how to make it a day trip from Udaipur to Chittorgarh  by public transportation.

Day trip from Udaipur to Kumbhalgarh Fort

Best places to visit in Udaipur in 5 days: Day trips from Udaipur to Kumbhalgarh by taxi, bus, train? Public transportation. Backpacking Rajasthan, North India

For Kumbhalgarh Fort, I went by private car.

It’s really not the easiest place to get to by public transportation, although I do imagine that it’s possible to at least get you somewhat close! Because… this is India!

It might require trying to find a rickshaw at some point though, because it seems like the main road leading to Kumbhalgarh once you get close wouldn’t have buses passing through.

So a taxi might be worth considering to get to Kumbhalgarh even if you will be mostly traveling around Rajasthan by bus and train.

Best places to visit in Udaipur in 3 days itinerary. One day: Visit to Bagore-ki-haveli heritage museum. Backpacking Rajasthan, North India.

If you’re traveling around Rajasthan, you’ll soon come to know about havelis.

Visiting a haveli is a way to experience a part of the grand Rajasthan royalty. ( Visiting the forts and palaces of Jaipur is another great way!)

You can see a different type of architecture, as well as how the royals used to live.

In the case of the Bagore-ki-Haveli, which is just near Gangaur Ghat, this is a complex that was built in the 18th century.

It has since been turned into a museum as a display of the culture that existed during this time.

Once you enter, you will be able to explore countless rooms and courtyards in the complex.

There are also a number of balconies and terraces that offer up stunning views of Lake Pichola!

There are many ghats along the lake in Udaipur, and the one near the museum is one of the many easy-to-access ghats.

The main thing to do at any ghat is to take in the sights surrounding the lake.

Cost: 300 rupees (us$5) for foreigners.

Best places to visit in Udaipur in 3 days itinerary. 2 days: Hilltop monsoon temple, how to get there. Backpacking Rajasthan, North India.

Following the visit to City Palace, you can head to another palace.

This time, a hilltop palace that offers stunning views of Udaipur!

The Monsoon Palace, also known as the Sajjan Garh, is located about a 20 minute rickshaw ride from City Palace.

From the main gate, you can walk up the hill 4 km or so or you can hire a ride once at the entry gate.

The palace itself may not be considered a must-visit, but the amazing views of Udaipur on your way to the palace and at the top can make it worth it.

There is a small cafe at the top, and you can have a rest there with a cup of tea!

Best places to visit in Udaipur in 3 days itinerary. 2 days: Hilltop monsoon palace with rooftop cafe restaurant. Backpacking Rajasthan, North India.

This is also an activity in Udaipur that you can do to get you away from the hustle and bustle of the main part of the city.

It’s possible that as you walk up the hill you’ll be able to hear the birds chirping very clearly.

You may also see monkeys along the way.

There is also a wildlife sanctuary around the monsoon palace that you can add on to your visit.

DAY 3 IN UDAIPUR

  • Walk around island Palace (Jagmandir Island)

Lake Pichola boat ride from City Palace

Cost: 400 rupees (us$6) for day time boat ride or 700 rupees (us$11) for sunset boat ride.

Best places to visit in Udaipur in 3 days itinerary. Day 3: Lake Pichola boat ride. Day or sunset cruise. Backpacking Rajasthan, North India.

One of the highlights of Udaipur can be the amazing views overlooking Lake Pichola, whether it’s from a ghat or a lakefront restaurant.

You can get a different experience by actually being on the lake with a boat tour!

This makes for more amazing views from a different perspective.

You can get boat tours during the day, and you can get sunset boat tours as well.

The prices increase once it becomes closer to sunset time, and this could be starting with the 3pm boat tour.

Visit to Jagmandir Island

Best places to visit in Udaipur in 3 days itinerary. Day 3: Visit to Jagmandir island with boat ride to island palace. Backpacking Rajasthan, North India.

City Palace is the best place to get a boat ride around Lake Pichola because it also offers you a trip to a palace island.

That would be the palace on Jagmandir Island.

Jagmandir Island itself may not be a must-visit, but again, the boat tour gives you amazing views.

So a side trip at the island can just add to the trip to make the boat ride even more worth it!

There are boats leaving regularly from the island, so you can just hop on a boat that’s waiting for departure once you’re ready to leave.

30 minutes will likely be enough time to walk around this palace.

Delhi To Udaipur Trip | Under Rs 10,000 With Amazing Udaipur Experience

Udaipur view from Monsoon Palace

Delhi To Udaipur Trip – My next destination for you to travel is Udaipur. It can be visited under a budget of Rs 7000. You all have heard about Udaipur, Rajasthan. It is one of the best destinations for Women Solo Traveler.

WHY UDAIPUR : THE CITY OF LAKES?

There are around 10 lakes in the boundaries of Udaipur City  which are interconnected to each other. Out of which, most of the lakes are natural. Each lake has unique trait and rich history associated with it.

From boat rides on Lake Pichola to trek to a Bahubali Hill ,Udaipur has everything you want.

WHY VISIT UDAIPUR:-

Being a girl, I have faced many challenges while travelling. In my opinion, it is a safe city to explore for a girl. The place can also be enjoyed as the “All girls” trip or with friends and is also known as one of the good honeymoon destination.

If you are one of the lake person and cherish romantic walk along it, then Udaipur is the right place. Take yourself on a date to Udaipur.

Udaipur is well known for its history, culture, scenic locations and the Rajput-era palaces. The royal city is founded by Maharana Udai Singh II of the Sisodia Clan of Rajput in 1558. It was formerly the capital of Mewar Kingdom. It is surrounded by the beautiful Aravelli Range which separates it from Thar Desert.

Travelers who are interested in history, culture, s cenic beauty and the Rajasthani authentic cuisines would love to spend their lovely weekend in Udaipur. One can enjoy the panoramic view of the royal city from the hill top.

The city is famous for series of artificial lakes and lavish royal residences. Moreover you can visit it in a budget of Rs 7000.

WHEN TO VISIT UDAIPUR:-

You can visit Udaipur from July to February . You can avoid going there from April to June as it is bit hot there. The best time to visit is in winters or Monsoon .

During rainy days, one can get the amazing view of the dams, rivers and especially the aerial view of the city from Monsoon Palace. I went to Udaipur during winters in the last of December. I had an amazing experience during that time.

HOW TO VISIT UDAIPUR:-

Udaipur is about 660 km from Delhi. There are several options to visit the place. There is a small domestic airport Maharana Pratap Airport, about 20 km from Udaipur. It is well connected to major cities in Rajasthan and the rest of India by Udaipur City Railway Station and Rana Pratap Nagar Railway Station.

I traveled to Udaipur by a Volvo bus which ranges from Rs 1000 to Rs 1500/person. I boarded the bus from Dhaula Kuan Bus Stand, Delhi at 11 pm. My friends and I reached the stand at 10 pm on Thursday night and waited at its Dhaula Kuan Metro Station Food Court. I

t is quite big and has numerous good food outlets and washrooms. A large number of people wait there for their respective buses. Below are the places where i visited during my trip to Udaipur under the budget of Rs 7000 only.

DAY 1: CITY PALACE, GHATS AND CABLE CARS

We reached Udaipur Bus stand at 9 am, Friday. We took one big Auto Rickshaw (three wheeler) having double sided seats. You would encounter only such kinds of Auto Rickshaws.

Sometimes it is fun to take such unusual rides. He charged us Rs 100/- to drop to our hotel Lavitra Resort . It was booked for Rs 3000/night for two person. The hotels are bit expensive in Udaipur. You always have an option to book a Hostel for a solo  traveler as they are cheaper.

I would advise you to book the hotel before hand.

Our hotel looks more like a Haveli . Actually most of the hotels in Udaipur are lookalike giving us a feeling of being in a place where Kings and Queens once lived. I feel amazed to know about the history of the place like what all had happened here where I am standing right now.

I know we must have read all these in our history books but who remembers that until you create your memory in the same place.

View from balcony of Lavitra Hotel

View from balcony of Lavitra Hotel

We had our breakfast in the hotel and got ready to explore the city. We booked one auto-rickshaw from outside the road and went to see the City Palace . It is said to be the largest royal complex in Rajasthan. The magnificent palace was built on the banks of Lake Pichola by the founder of Udaipur.

The King and their Successors used to live and administered from there. The Palace houses a number of courtyards, terraces, corridors, gardens and a museum with decorative furniture, antiques paintings and utensils of the Royal family. There is an entry fee of Rs 300/person.

Sunset View

Sunset View

After exploring the palace for 2-3 hours, we walked to Ambrai Ghat , also known as Manjhi Ghat . How calm and placid is to sit around the lake and enjoy the scenic view of Sunset!

The ghat was filled with many foreigners sitting and reading some books. A lot of foreigners visit Udaipur. You could find them all over the place as they love to see the royal city and culture of India.

You would always find a dog around when u talks about happiness. This time I found a cute puppy named Coco playing with all the tourists sitting on Ghat. You would also find a man playing some instrumental songs with traditional Sarangi and a lady selling artificial jewellery. It sounds so much pleasing to our ears.

Ambrai Ghat

Ambrai Ghat

While walking down the road we stopped to a shop which rents Scooty and Bike. We took a Scooty for Rs 500/day and gave a token amount of Rs 1000 and a copy of our Driving License. We went to the Mansapurna Karni Mata Temple to take a rope way ride. We bought our tickets for Rs 90/person. The ticket has a number on it which is displayed on the screens.

In one cable car, only 6 people can accommodate so there was a huge queue. Our number is late so we had sweet corn from the stalls around and strolled to a big leisure park in front of it. The park has different types of swings and worth clicking.

Moreover, we get a stunning view of City Palace from the top of the park. We spent our waiting time beautifully appreciating the elegance of the surroundings.

We went back to the Gondola ride (cable car ) which took 5 minutes to hilltop providing a spectacular view of the whole Udaipur. There is a food court above the hill which offers different cuisines.

We had our tea and some snacks while star gazing from the top. The sky was clear enough to watch the various constellations and stars. The cable car took us back. We went back to our hotel and had our dinner.

DAY 2: SHILPGRAM AND TREK TO BAHUBALI HILL

The next morning we got up and went to the terrace to enjoy the sunrise and the parrots around. We did some yoga there to relax ourselves and went outside down the lane to have poha, onion and dal kachori. They are quite famous breakfast in Rajasthan. We took our scooty to enjoy the Shilpgram Festival . It is a cultural festival which happens annually from 21 st Dec to 31 st Dec.

There is an entry fee of Rs 20/person. It portraits the lifestyle, art, culture and heritage of rural and sub urban parts of Western India. We witness several items which used to present and quite famous in past time.

We enjoyed the folk dance, camel ride and different famous food items. I tried a new sweet dish called Malaio which tastes like a cream and very sweet and yummy. We spend 2 to 3 hours and went to Badi Lake .

Shilpgram Festival

Shilpgram Festival

Taking right turn from Badi Lake and asking locals to direct us to a temple, we reached a trek to a hill called Bahubali Hill . It is less known and a hidden gem for the nature lover.

On the way to it, you will see free-falling water from some parts of the hill. Many were seen clicking pictures of the view. On reaching bahubali hill, you will experience a breathtaking height with a mesmerizing panorama of the lake.

You will encounter hills in the middle of lake called Crocodile hump hill. A number of crocodiles are said to be seen in the lake, so don’t try swimming in it. Get lost in the tranquil beauty and enjoy the incredible sunset from hilltop.

We went down the hill and had omelette Maggi and tea from a vendor selling them while cold breeze blowing along the way. This always comes to rescue when you tired. We returned to our hotel after finishing our dinner in a local restaurant.

DAY 3: MONSOON PALACE AND BOATING

The next day we checked out from our hotel around 11 am and asked them to keep our bags there till we returned back. We went to Monsoon Palace, also called Sajjangarh Palace . It is located on one of the hilltops of Aravalli. It gives you a spectacular vista of the entire city of Udaipur, its lakes, forts and palaces.

It was originally planned to make it a five-storey astronomical centre and to keep track of the movement of monsoon clouds in the area surrounding the palace. But after the premature death of Maharana, it was used as a hunting lodge for the royal family.

One can witness the fascinating architecture with big balconies and pillars. The palace is built on marble pillars, which are carved with exquisite pattern of flowers and leaves. It is always worth a visit.

Monsoon Palace

Monsoon Palace

We returned from the palace and went straight to Lake Pichola for boating. There is a multitude of boating options available and each has a different price. After waiting in a queue for 5 minutes, we opted for Motorboat which costs us Rs 200/person.

There were around 20 people in the boat. The boat driver asked us to wear Life Jacket for safety purpose as the lake is quite deep. The boat ride started from Rameshwar Ghat , took us to Lake Palace and then to Jagmandir where we spent some time appreciating the scenic views. It was 20 minutes to 30 minutes magical ride which left us spellbound.

We felt hungry after our ride and thought to have some authentic Rajasthani food. We searched and found one of the best local restaurant Krishna Dal Bati Restro which serves yummy Rajasthani plate with all the famous food items.

I bet you would not find the cheapest and yummiest thali. She charged us Rs 150/plate and Rs 250 for 2 plates. The plate has Dal Batti Churma , Gatte (Besan) Ki Sabzi , 2-3 more Sabzi, Papad, Raita and some sweet and everything is unlimited. It is a pure vegetarian restaurant.

BIDDING BYE TO UDAIPUR

We had some time to catch our bus at 7 pm so we went to the local market enjoying our last scooter ride. There is a time pass snack called Chana Zor Garam available everywhere in Udaipur which blown my taste buds.

Many of the vendors were selling it in every nook and corner. I had it all the three days and bought it home at well. Whenever you go, do remember to taste it. We bade bye to Udaipur and boarded our bus from Hotel Amrith, Reti Stand , near the Income Tax Office.

SUMMARY & CONCLUSION

Udaipur is one of the finest places to visit. This is my story of how I enjoyed my trip to Udaipur.  Now it’s the time for you to create yours. Visit here again when I shall be back with more happening places of our country.

Do remember to join our Facebook group , where we help , share all our travel experience with the community.

WHAT’S GOOD AND NOT SO GOOD

To be very honest, i would say there are a number of many more places to visit in Udaipur but these are the best ones. You would make good memories here and know the culture of Udaipur as well.

The hotel food would be bit expensive and may not activate your taste buds. Rather go for the street foods and rajasthani thali. Check out government website on Udaipur for all official information.

We took Delhi-jaipur highway and reached jaipur in 6 hours. Crossed Manesar,Behror and Jaipur toll.Toll costed total of Rs 265/- . We started early morning so we can reach jaipur on time and explore the city.

Stay at Jaipur

Amazing stay with heritage vibe and more than satisfactory hospitality. A single day costed us Rs 3000/- including breakfast. The breakfast buffet menu was extensive and tasted just perfect.

There are lot of options to choose from for your stay in jaipur. So you dont need to worry about hotel booking in jaipur.

There are lot of street vendor's to shop, eat and click pictures from. Overall you will enjoy this place in the evening especially if you are travelling in group of lot of people.

Nahargarh Fort

Massive and worth the visit. We witnessed spectacular view and absolutely mind blowing sunset, which made our day :) .
