Wtm london: thailand looks to 'amazing new chapters' for 2022.

Abra Dunsby

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) unveiled its new “Visit Thailand Year 2022: Amazing New Chapters” marketing campaign at WTM London today.

Bangkok city skyline

Speaking at a press conference on 1 November, the day that Thailand reopened its borders to fully vaccinated international tourists from 63 countries, Siripakorn Cheawsamoot, TAT deputy governor for marketing communications, said: “There is no better time to showcase new tourism products and services, as well as to [show] Thailand’s beloved attractions in a new light.”

The new marketing campaign will be divided into different chapters, with different products and services highlighted throughout the 12 months of the year.

Chapter 1 will highlight tourism products and services that awaken travellers’ five senses; such as Thai cuisine and picturesque natural scenery.

In Chapter 2, entitled The One You Love, TAT will focus on specific segments like families, couples and friends. Bangkok, Phuket and Chiang Mai, in particular, will be promoted as popular destinations for weddings and honeymooners thanks to their beaches, mountain resorts and vibrant cities.

Meanwhile, Chapter 3, named The Earth We Care, will focus on reconnecting with nature and encouraging travellers to immerse themselves in local experiences.

Thosaporn Sirisumphand, chairman of The Tourism Authority of Thailand board of directors, told TTG@WTM London that the destination’s Covid-19 Sandbox initiative, which launched on 1 July and allowed tourists to travel to certain areas of the country via certain routes and ports in accordance with vaccination and testing rules, meant the country was now fully prepared to welcome international tourists safely, quarantine-free.

He added that the next few months would be “critical” for bringing tourists back into the country.

“Q4 and Q1 [of 2022] will be critical, as it’s the high season in Thailand. We have prepared for the reopening in the last four months with Sandbox as a test case.”

While 60,000 international tourists arrived in Thailand between 1 July and 30 October as part of the Sandbox initiative, the country now hopes to welcome one million tourists in the next six months, with a target revenue of £17.87 billion next year from international tourism arrivals.

February 19, 2024

tourism authority of thailand board of directors

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has appointed Chompu Marusachot as the new Director of TAT New York Office.

With nearly a decade of experience at TAT marked by innovative campaigns and transformative projects, Marusachot brings extensive experience and a refined understanding of TAT’s mission and objectives to her new role. She will be directly responsible for leading strategic initiatives to promote Thailand in Canada, alongside the U.S.

Drawing upon her seasoned perspective, she will oversee many of TAT New York’s initiatives to continue to maintain Thailand’s position as a world-class tourism destination.

“I am honoured and excited to lead the TAT New York team. Thailand has so much to offer, and I am committed to showcasing its diverse beauty, rich culture, and unique experiences,” Marusachot said. “Together, we will make Thailand the top-of-mind destination, working towards stronger and sustainable, more responsible, more accessible and more inclusive tourism growth.”

As Marusachot begins her new role, TAT bids farewell to their previous esteemed director, Santi Sawangcharoen.

Under his guidance, Thailand has flourished as a world-class tourism destination. Chompu will build upon his success with the continuation of ongoing projects and strategic plans such as the production of The White Lotus Season 3, joint marketing projects with airline partners such as EVA Air, Air Canada, and Qatar Air, as well as co-op marketing campaigns with Gate 1 Travel, Goway Travel, Direct Travel, and luxury travel partners including Remote Lands.

Under newly appointed president, TPC envisions brighter business and greater gains in international recognition as Thailand’s privileged visa provider

On february 15th, 2023, mr yuthasak supasorn, governor of tourism authority of thailand (tat) and chairman of the board of directors of thailand privilege card (tpc) co., ltd., chaired the signing ceremony, held at tpc, for the appointment of mr manatase annawat as tpc’s new president, in the presence as witnesses of tpc's board of directors and senior management..

By the board’s resolution, Mr Manatase was selected to fill the post in light of his high academic caliber – a BBA in Marketing from Assumption University, Bangkok, and an MBA, majoring in Marketing, Finance & Banking from the University of San Francisco, San Francisco, U.S.A.

Under newly appointed president, TPC envisions brighter business and greater gains in international recognition as Thailand’s privileged visa provider

Also weighing strongly in favor of the appointment decision was his 26 years-long managerial work experience in chief executive positions at many top local and international companies, e.g. Johnson & Johnson, Pepsi–Cola (Thai) Trading Co., Ltd., Thai Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, and Raimon Land PLC., as well as at the local leading department stores: Emporium, EmQuartier, and Siam Paragon.

Optimistically, the assumption of his new role as TPC's president, along with his administrative prowess and leadership vision will help propel TPC’s development and enhancement of products and services to another level, which will assuredly contribute to the company’s extended success internationally as Thailand’s privileged visa provider, delivering only the best visa privileges to world travelers who seek a long stay in the Kingdom of Thailand.

TAT opens its 28th overseas office in Toronto, Canada

Toronto, Canada, 25 April, 2018 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has recently opened its 28 th TAT overseas office in Toronto to target the high potential Canadian market. The occasion was also used to launch the “Amazing Thailand’s Open to the New Shades” marketing concept in Canada. The TAT Toronto Office was officially opened on 23 April, 2018.

TAT opens its 28th overseas office in Toronto

The official opening ceremony of the TAT’s third office in North America after New York and Los Angeles was attended by H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Canada, Mr. Kalin Sarasin, Chairman of the TAT Board, Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, TAT Governor, and Mr. Tanes Petsuwan, TAT Deputy Governor for Marketing Communications.

Around 150 guests including Canadian travel companies, travel media, guests from the business community later attended an evening reception which featured a live music performance by famous Thai saxophonist, Mr. Koh Saxman, a demonstration of fruit and vegetable carving, and making of artificial flowers and carps from palm leaves.

Mr. Tanes Petsuwan, TAT Deputy Governor for Marketing Communications, presented the “4D Open to the New Shades”, highlighting five categories of products: Gastronomy, Nature and Beach, Culture, Way of Life, Art and Craft.

TAT opens its 28th overseas office in Toronto

In his statement, Mr. Kalin Sarasin ( above picture, centre ) said, “This is our 28 th TAT Overseas office. We chose Toronto, the capital city of Ontario, because it is a vibrant, multi-cultural city and one of the largest metropolitan areas in North America. We believe it will be a perfect location to cover Canada, which has been identified in our current marketing plan as a high potential market with a long average length of stay and strong purchasing power.”

In 2016, the average length of stay for the Canadian travellers in Thailand was approximately 18 days, which doubled the overall length of stay with expenditure per day of around 172 Canadian Dollars per person. Moreover, Ontario was the largest source of Canadian travellers to Thailand in 2017, with a market share of 45%.

From 2013-2017, the revenue from the Canada market rose 6% on average in five years.

“We are working with local partners to develop new products and introduce new local experiences in Thailand that fit with the targeted segments including the Baby Boomers, Gen X, and Gen Y. They are strongly interested in beach, culture, health and wellness, weddings and honeymoons, and our gastronomical delights,” Mr. Kalin added.

Although there are currently no direct flights from any Canadian city to Bangkok, TAT is working closely with friendly airlines; such as, Cathay Pacific, EVA Airways, Emirates, Qatar, Korean Airlines and Air Canada to route traffic to Thailand via their respective hubs.

In 2017, Canadian visitor arrivals to Thailand totalled 258,392, up by 5.52% over 2016. This contributed to income of 845.9 million Canadian Dollars representing a growth of 7.61 percent.

At the end of this year, TAT projects revenue growth of 8.46% from the Canada market.

Below pictures show some of the Thai experiences displayed at the TAT Toronto Office’s opening ceremony.
