Bruno Mars is the stage name of Peter Gene Hernandez, a producer, singer and songwriter born on the 8th of October, 1985 who hails from Honolulu, Hawaii, U.S.A. Since debuting in 2009 he has become one of the most musically diverse and commercially successful pop stars in the world.

If there’s one thing that makes the current pop charts an exciting place to be it’s the return of pop’s great auteurs. The renegades who can make a delicious pop single out of the most far flung hooks and long dead genre’s, we need to hang on to the likes of Pharrell Williams, Kanye West, and our current topic Bruno Mars, for as long as we can. It’s very telling that the thing that unites all of those artists that I just mentioned is the fact that they all got their breaks as ground-breaking producers. Their time spent engineering every aspect of other people’s songs meant that they’re free to experiment, and Mars does so more than any of them.

Mars was born into a musical family, and by the time he was five years old he was performing four nights a week with his family’s band The Love Notes. He made a name for himself with a dead on Elvis Presley impersonation, but it was a later obsession with Jimi Hendrix that lead him to pick up the guitar and start writing songs. At the age of 17 he graduated from high school and moved to Los Angeles to pursue a full time career in music, everything looked to be going his way as he signed a contract with Motown Records in 2004, the year after he made the move, but it was not to be the case.

Music industry fumbling meant that Mars went nowhere with his solo career but made one crucial contact in the form of Phillip Lawrence, with whom he would later team up with to form his production group The Smeezingtons along with Ari Levine. The trio hustled around LA writing and producing hits for The Sugababes, Travie McCoy and Sean Kingston among many others, but it wasn’t until 2009 when Mars started making guest appearances on those songs, and in 2010 they caught lightning in a bottle with B.O.B’s “Nothin’ On You”, not just written and produced by Mars’ trio, but with its killer hook sung by Mars himself.

With a serious amount of buzz generated by “Nothin’ On You”, Mars released his debut E.P “It’s Better If You Don’t Understand” in May of the same year. A couple of months later his single “Just The Way You Are” reached the summit of the Billboard Hot 100 and the hits have kept on coming since then. “Grenade”? “Treasure”? “Locked Out Of Heaven”? “The Lazy Song”? There just doesn’t seem to be any way of stopping this once in a generation talent, and he’s still yet to reach his prime, either on record or in his blistering live shows. Highly recommended.

I went to a Bruno Mars concert last night, and I thought it was great. When I first got there, everyone was really hyped up and excited, and the mood was contagious. The merchandise were cool, though it was very expensive (but what else do you expect at a concert?). Aloe Blacc went on before Bruno and sang some of his famous songs, and later came out to sign autographs. When Bruno finally came out, he did so with a big bang (literally, it sounded like a gunshot). Throughout the concert, he remained energetic, and would also stop every once in a while to talk to the audience. He made the audience feel like he was glad to be there and was having a good time with us. Bruno Mars' sings many types of genres, including pop, reggae, soul, R&B, and pop rock. He has many different and original songs, one about getting his money stolen to another upbeat song about being lazy. Some of his more recent songs have a few cuss words, for example his song Gorilla. He made sure to sing the songs with cuss words toward the end of the concert, when all of the younger kids would have most likely left already. He actually surprised the audience quite a bit with this. He had a fake ending; said goodnight and thank you for coming, and 5 minutes later came back out and sang some of his expletive songs. Overall I loved this concert, and I highly recommend you go too!

There is no doubt that Bruno Mars is one of the top male singers today. And if you haven't been to see him in concert, you're really missing out. His live performances are extremely entertaining.

Many people don't realise that he's more than just a singer: his dance moves are smooth, and when he plays a drum solo, the girls cannot stop screaming! Honestly, you would think he was famous for his drum playing because he is just that good. Bruno Mars is very talented.

He's also easy on the eyes ;) He's good looking and he usually wears a James Brown-type style suit which is very fitting since he dances like James Brown too. You can't help but dance along when he's performing “Runaway”, or to sing along when he's performing “Just The Way You Are”. Also, his band is perfect: when they're backing him up, there is so much energy. He keeps it simple while giving a performance of a lifetime, no matter what the event is.

Bruno Mars' live performances make me happy. I love him and I love how talented he is. He gives his performances his all, and never disappoints. When he's done, you can't help but to give him a standing ovation and beg for more. Once the concert is over, you can bet you're going to go home and listen to Bruno Mars even more.

The Bruno Mars concert was seriously phonominal. He is such a great performer and a great singer. He's so so so good live. Him and the hooligans are amazing. They're really funny and they dance a lot and it's so good! I really think that man can do anything and pull it off. If you go to the concert you will not regret or forget it. It's so memorable and such a great time. There are lots of suprizes during the whole concert and it really keeps you on your feet. He's amazing and if he ever comes back to my city or anywhere near it I'm going to be there. He did a variety of different songs. He did reggae, his slow songs, his faster songs (like Natalie, Gorilla, etc). He even covered some songs (like bump and grind and other classics) he didn't sing the whole songs but he did the best parts of the songs he covered and mixed it together. It's very hard to explain but that was very memorable. There was singing, fire, glitter confetti, dancing, Bruno Mars and the Hooligans... What else could you want? Did you know in Honolulu Hawaii where 'Bruno' was born as 'Peter Gene Bayot Hernandez'? Hope you go to the 'Moonshine Jungle Tour because it's amazing! Have fun!

Overall, the Bruno Mars concert was an incredible experience. The fact that he could sing like a dove, play a mean guitar lick, AND dance his pants off - all at the same time - blew me away. I was kept entertained all night long.

The great thing about Bruno's set is that although it was short and focuses mostly on his most recent album, it was the most diverse set I've ever seen performed at a concert; from covers to original songs, Bruno sang pop, rock, disco, doo-wop, R&B, hip-hop, reggae, and soul, delivering every genre with the same vigor and excitement.

The next best thing about the concert besides Bruno himself was his band, the Hooligans. Not only were they talented singers and performers, but also they also danced and laughed with Bruno like old buddies, making the concert seem much more like an intimate gig with friends.

Basically, GO SEE HIM! You'll dance, you'll laugh, and hey, you might even cry during the ballads. So GO and find out! :)

This concert was perhaps one of the best concerts I've been to and that says a lot since I just turned 59 and 365 days (it's still difficult for me to admit that I'm X0 years old.... I saw Jimmie Hendrix in concert, Moody Blues, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Cream, Miranda Lambert, Lady Antebellum, Jason Aldean, Siberian Orchestra, Johnny Mathis and many many more artists and this concert ranked in the top 5. The dancing was fantastic, his stage presence and how he played with the crowd (mostly the ladies) was FUN!!!! His drum solo-words cannot describe it... I only wish I could see him tonight in Milwaukee (I live in Wisconsin) at Summerfest tonight. I would go again to see him....Aloe Blacc was great also!!!!! Thanks for asking.

The Bruno Mars concert was amazing! The only fault that I would say is that there was a lot of waiting Dua Lipa was right on time and it felt like when’s Bruno coming?! Then after Dua Lipa we had to wait for them to set Bruno up which felt like forever, but when he was out there it was amazing he had fireworks and amazing dance moves and his singing was just amazing. He even added some comedy in there, and he was putting his absolute all you could see by the sweat on his body. After we thought it was over but he surprised us with an extra song :) it was an experience of a lifetime and I must say for my first concert it was A M A Z I N G ! For the merchandise I feel some of it was just a bit overpriced like the hats.

I spent $256 on a ticket and flew from Florida to Las Vegas to see this fiasco of a show. The show was supposed to start at 9. The curtain finally rose at almost 9:30. The drums and bass were so loud, little of the vocals could be heard. The band was off several times, there was limited choreography, 2 solos (drum and piano, neither of which were Bruno, OBVIOUS TIME FILLERS), and the show lasted one hour and 15 minutes. TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY!!!! IT SUCKED!! I am used to hearing songs sung at concerts, not stopped mid-way to laugh and joke. Bruno Mars needs to go to some REAL concerts so he can see how to please his PAYING AUDIENCE. Go get some lessons from Pink, Elton John, who ever, Bruno, cause your show is a joke!!

It was an absolutely amazing night! The performance was stunning and the atmosphere was filled with laughter and happiness. Bruno Mars did an incredible job, by making sure everybody was having a party, and you could just see how much he loved standing on that scene and singing to the crowd. Also I am not going to forget Anderson.Paak who played just before Bruno went on stage. Andersson.Paak made sure, that everyone were ready for the big party, and he too is an incredible musician. Bruno Mars even learned how to say "I love you" in danish, which made us feel even closer to him. I will never forget this night!

Bebe Rexha sang Me, Myself, and I, I love that song!!! I just think it wasn’t necessary to say some bad words while she spoke, but thats ok because it’s BEBE REXHA!!!

Bruno Mars was I-N-C-R-E-D-I-B-L-E!!!!!

He sang all of my favorite songssss and ne sang UPTOWN FUNK!!!! AWESOME!!!!

Overall, it was the best concert of my life, even though we could have been in better seats, and I even got a souvenir t-shirt!!!!

The concert was AWESOME! The opening person was really good and did a lot with the audience. She talked to the people not as a pop star but as a person. Her song choices really set the mood and went from sad songs to happy songs and did a outstanding job. For Bruno Mars him self did super good. His back up people were an awesome addition to the show. The record thing was a really cool idea. The show was a little delayed because it didn't start until like 15 after 8. Other than that the show was awesome and set the bar very high for the people after him. love you Bruno Mars

Bruno Mars’ ongoing 2023 Las Vegas Residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM will now extend beyond its previous August 26th conclusion all the way to New Years’ Eve, with five new dates in December. The latest addition features performances on December 22nd, 23rd, 28th, 30th, and 31st.

In the meantime, the “Finesse” singer has been tapped to headline Louisville, Kentucky’s Bourbon & Beyond festival in September. He’ll also embark on a international trek to Brazil and Chile that month, trailed by nights in Georgia and Israel in October.

In 2024, Mars will play a staggering seven shows at Japan’s Tokyo Dome between January 11th and 21st.

Bruno Mars is coming to Florida for the first time in six years, How to buy tickets

Bruno Mars announced this week that he’ll be playing two back-to-back concerts in Florida this December on his way back to Las Vegas for the last stint of his residency at Park MGM casino’s Dolby Live amphitheater.

The “Leave the Door Open” singer last visited Florida six years ago on his 24K Magic World Tour in 2017, four years before his collaboration album with Anderson .Paak lit TikTok aflame. He’ll be making his grand return to the Sunshine State on Dec. 7 and 8 at Hard Rock Live at The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

Is Bruno Mars going on tour in 2023?

Mars isn’t touring in the U.S. The “Smoking out the Window” singer is currently touring in west Asia . He has one more show in Saudi Arabia on Friday, Sept. 29 – the same day tickets to his Florida shows go on sale for the general public.

After his Saudi Arabia show, he’ll play one show in Georgia, two shows in Israel and one in Qatar. Mars will wrap up his shows in west Asia and the middle east with his Qatar concert on Oct. 8 and take two months off before coming to Florida. 

His shows in Hollywood on Dec. 7 and 8 are the only U.S. shows he is scheduled for outside of the last five nights of his Vegas residency in late December. After his final five nights in Las Vegas, Mars will jet off to play seven shows in Tokyo in January 2024.

Six new shows set for May-June

Following an extremely successful January and February show run, 14-time Grammy Award-winning superstar Bruno Mars has announced six additional 2023 performances at Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas . Mars will return for May 24, 27-28, and 31; and June 2-3.

Tickets start at $99.50, plus applicable service charges, and go on sale to the general public Friday, February 17th at 10 am PT via Ticketmaster .

Members of MGM Rewards, MGM Resorts International’s loyalty rewards program, as well as Live Nation customers, will receive access to a pre-sale running Thursday, February 16th from 10 am PT until 10 pm PT.

In 2021, Mars made history as the first artist ever to receive five RIAA diamond certified singles . Mars’ “That’s What I Like” and “When I Was Your Man” have both been diamond certified, selling and streaming over 10 million copies and bringing his total certifications to five. This follows the diamond certifications of “Just the Way You Are, “Grenade,” and “Uptown Funk! with Mark Ronson. Furthermore, “Just the Way You Are” is 12x multi-platinum, “Uptown Funk!” and “When I Was Your Man” are 11x multi-platinum, and “Grenade” and “That’s What I Like” are 10x multi-platinum.

Mars became the first male and third act overall to have at least three top five Hot 100 hits from each of his first three albums, following only Mariah Carey and Beyoncé. Mars is also the first artist to have two songs spend 24 or more weeks in the Hot 100’s Top 5 (“That’s What I Like” and “Uptown Funk”). Honorably, Mars is one of the few artists to have written and produced all of his No. 1 hits and has had a No. 1 song on the Hot 100 from each of his first three studio albums.

With eight Hot 100 No. 1s, Mars is ranked No. 1 among male artists with the most Hot 100 No. 1s for this decade, extending his lead over Justin Bieber, Drake, Eminem, and The Weeknd. Most recently, Silk Sonic – the collaboration project with Anderson .Paak – received their first No. 1 with their debut single “Leave The Door Open.”

The hitmaking stage blazer stays booked and busy but hasn’t released a solo album since 2016’s ’24k Magic.’

Rather he’s maintained visibility by way of an endless of array of live shows and collaborative side-project Silk Sonic with Anderson. Paak. The latter of which birthed the Billboard Hot 100 #1 ‘Leave The Door Open’ and the critically acclaimed album ‘An Evening with Silk Sonic.’

Now, however, sources say plans are well underway for Mars’ solo return – and he’s going all out to ensure it’s his most resonating release yet.

Daddy Bruno is coming into my boyhoIe!

He’s great. But the concert I’ve attended was super short (no pun intended). Like 1 hour 15 minutes. Ok quality not quantity but don’t give me that BS when you have a catalogue that could easily let you add 30 minutes to your show.

I’m excited. Bruno is a BEAST of an artist and entertainer.

He gives me karaoke MJ but still miles better than Chris brown. Only problem for me is he doesn’t take enough sonic or music risk, it’s like he’s too Clean… Safe which makes him semi boring.

Bruno is anything but boring especially when he hits the stage. And don’t forget he can actually SING

Appropriation where? Bruno always pays homage to the greats and never pretends to be an originator. The legends love him and so does everyone else based on his popularity and success.

Appropriation everywhere. He’s not black but chooses to black fish, steals music from black artists like the uptown funk record he tried to avoid paying for, and when he was a kid he knew he wasn’t black because he was an Elvis impersonator. So, like I said…. NO THANKS to the appropriator, yuck! 🤮😂

If I could see Bruno Mars in concert that would be the icing on the cake of my life. The thing is I don’t get around too well after failed back surgery. I am 68 yrs old, but listening to Bruno’s music makes me feel 18 again. To anyone who has the chance to see this man in concert should grab that chance! He IS music !! And I am sure it would be an unforgettable experience.

Intuit Dome , the new home of the LA Clippers , is hosting Bruno Mars as its opening act, with the performer set to play two back-to-back shows on Thursday, Aug. 15 and Friday, Aug. 16.

The Inglewood venue will serve as the 14-time Grammy winner’s first gig in Los Angeles County in more than six years.

“We are thrilled Bruno Mars will open Intuit Dome,” said Gillian Zucker, CEO of Halo Sports and Entertainment. “Bruno, who has a strong connection to Inglewood, will undoubtedly deliver an iconic performance that is worthy of this moment, and will leave a lasting impression on everyone who attends these two shows.”

Tickets for both shows go on sale to the general public starting at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 11 at Ticketmaster.com. 

The 17,700-capacity arena, nestled in the same area as the Kia Forum and SoFi Stadium, is also set to host acts such as Usher, Weezer, Sebastian Maniscalco, Phil Whickman, and Brandon Lake, Twenty One Pilots, and Billy Joel.

Mars is still set to perform in Los Vegas for his solo 2024 residency and with the R&B project Silk Sonic , featuring Anderson Paak. Silk Sonic released “An Evening With Silk Sonic” in 2021 and snagged record of the year at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards.

With the Los Angeles area’s still-under-construction Intuit Dome set to start hosting the Clippers in October, a lot of attention has been trained on what kind of reviews the 17,700-capacity arena will get as a sports venue this fall. But music fans will get a big jump on feeling the new facility out, as pop superstar Bruno Mars was announced Friday morning as the attraction for the dome’s grand opening, with back-to-back concerts set for Aug. 15-16.

Tickets for the Mars shows go on sale next Thursday at 10 a.m. PT through Ticketmaster.

“We had a list of criteria that we came up with that we thought, if you can have anybody, what would you want?” Zucker tells Variety . “And at the top of the list was: global icon with a local connection. So that was really important to us. Bruno moved to Inglewood as a teenager, and so he has a connection with the community, which we thought was very important.

“We wanted also a performer who was a showperson, someone who would really effectively help us bring the building to life. And there’s so many unique things about the building — the halo scoreboard, the interactivity with the crowd, our LED lights that are built into the seats, the various different things that just haven’t existed in other buildings before — and we wanted to make sure that we had a performer who would take advantage of all of those things. And I think lastly, we wanted something special — someone who wasn’t necessarily out on tour, doing something that would be iconic and unique and worthy of all of the love and attention and care that’s been put into this building. Another piece of it that really resonated with us was that in the conversations, he immediately took to the idea and was excited about the prospect of being a part of it.”

“I would estimate we’ll end up with 20 to 25 shows just in the couple of months between August 15 and when the Clippers start playing in October. So there’s gonna be a lot of music in the building,” Zucker says. It won’t end when the Clippers start, as musicians will still be able to make use of the arena during the Clippers’ away-game stretches.

Variety took a hardhat tour of the Inglewood site last weekend, and can speak to the fact that there’ll be a lot of depth to Mars’ performance. The Intuit Dome has three floors that extend below ground level, and four above — similar to the nearby SoFi Stadium — due to being in the flight path of LAX, where a cap is put on building heights. A peek from the back row suggests that the arena may live up to the sense of increased “intimacy” that reps have been promising, belying its size. (One tout on the new arena is that the average seat is about 45 feet closer to the stage or court than Crypto.com Arena, which it’ll be in competition with for bookings, thanks to the serious rake of the seats.)

The audio capabilities were designed by the same team that did the re-do of the Forum as a. concert-only facility. But sometimes it’s the little things — as in 18,000 or so tiny points of light — that set a facility apart.

“You know the LED wristbands that a lot of especially pop and EDM performers tend to utilize in their shows? We did something very unique with the building. We had an opportunity very early on to make a decision to run power to every single seat in the building. Then there’s a lot of other things that you can do along with it, other than just having a space to charge your phone, which you can do at every seat. But so long as we had powered the seats, we thought, why don’t we put an LED in the armrest of every single seat? And so it gives all of these musicians the opportunity to be able to build that LED accent into their shows, which we know will create a great experience.”  

Zucker also oversees the practically adjacent Forum, which Steve Ballmer bought when he deigned to bring the Clippers to Inglewood. Are there enough bookings to go around between Intuit Dome, the Forum and Crypto.com downtown?

“Everybody’s touring, so there’s a lot of inventory, and when we did our due diligence actually before we built it,” Zucker says, “we’ve always felt like this market is under-resourced in terms of arena spaces. There’s just a lot of demand for music in Los Angeles.”

Intuit Dome and the Forum would obviously be in fierce competition coming up, if Ballmer didn’t own them both. How will the bookings pan out — will artists prefer the shiny new thing to play with, or the familiarity of the refurbished?

Both? Yes, says Zucker — just as a handful of artists have managed to do shows at both the Forum and Crypto (like Lauryn Hill, recently), she says there are those who want to do both the Forum and Intuit now.

“One of the things that works out well with that is that they could break down a show, drive a mile down the road and just rebuild it, and they’ll be ready to go for their next date. So there’s some efficiencies that come with that as well. … We’re still like at our infancy in the booking piece of it, so we’d have to circle back in six months and I can let you know more. But we’re seeing both — we’re seeing people who are holding different points in their tour schedule in the different buildings, and we’re seeing people who are saying: ‘We’re gonna do four or five shows in market. And we know we’re gonna need an off day for voice rest anyway, so we may as well change it up and do different buildings.’ We’re big on making people happy, so, look, we’ve got two extraordinary buildings, and I think they’ve got two incredible choices. So, whatever works for that particular artist works for us too.”

One advantage Intuit may have over the Forum (or the other competitors in the area) may be some of the creature comforts that have been built in for crews as well as fans. Truck drivers often don’t have a chance to do their laundry easily on the road, for example, so Intuit Dome has built-in laundry facilities for visiting crews backstage – not unlike how, on the basketball side, referees have been given their own locker room. Having six loading bays for visiting tours also means tours can load in and out as much as 30% faster, reps say.

As for the advantages average concertgoers will see when the venue opens, it’s not all about razzle-dazzle LED lights, or even fully no-contact/no-checkout concession stands. One of the biggest amenities is due to shortened seatbakes that go along with that steeper rake in the stands: no knees bumping against the backs of seats for tall people.

Live Nation Philippines officially announces that Filipino-American multiple-Grammy winner Bruno Mars will have a two-day concert at the Philippine Arena, on June 24 and 25, 2023.

On its social-media accounts, the entertainment company also reveals that there will be a pre-sale for the concert's day 2:

Vegas Casino Hits Back Against Report Bruno Mars Is $50 Million in Gambling Debt

Last month's viral rumor that Bruno Mars is paying off an insurmountable gambling debt to MGM is not true, the company says.

MGM Resorts International has denied last month's report that singer Bruno Mars owes the company over $50 million in gambling debt. On March 14, NewsNation reported that Mars had racked up an enormous debt by playing poker and other games of chance in Las Vegas , Nevada. However, a few days later MGM assured reporters from PEOPLE that the story was "completely false."

A "well-placed Vegas insider" reportedly told NewsNation that Mars had amassed over $50 million in debt to Vegas casinos, saying: "[MGM] basically own him." They claimed that Mars had signed on to perform his residency at Park MGM in order to work off his debt. MGM refuted this claim in a statement published by PEOPLE on March 19, saying: "We're proud of our relationship with Bruno Mars, one of the world's most thrilling and dynamic performers. From his shows at Dolby Live at Park MGM to the new Pinky Ring lounge at Bellagio, Bruno's brand of entertainment attracts visitors from around the globe."

"MGM and Bruno's partnership is longstanding and rooted in mutual respect. Any speculation otherwise is completely false; he has no debt with MGM," the statement went on. "Together, we are excited to continue creating unforgettable experiences for our guests."

The NewsNation report claimed that Mars had previously supported himself as a professional poker player, and it's true that in a 2016 interview with James Corden , the singer claimed that he paid rent by winning at poker when he first moved from Hawaii to California. However, in a 2010 interview with Entertainment Weekly , Mars mentioned several other jobs he did to make ends meet at that time, including DJing. The report also claimed that Mars was making $90 million per year with his residency, which has not been confirmed.

Mars does have a longstanding relationship with MGM. He publicly announced a partnership with the company in 2016, and they have become more entwined over the years. Earlier this year, Mars' Pinky Ring cocktail bar at the Bellagio Resort & Casino finally opened for business. Mars has also already extended his residency at Park MGM twice, adding dates in December of 2023 and February of 2024.

Mars has more shows at Park MGM coming in June, August, and September of this year, with tickets available now on his website . The singer has not responded publicly to the reports of his debt.

Singer JJ Lin rubs shoulders with Bruno Mars at Singapore concert

JJ Lin is clearly a fan of American pop star Bruno Mars.

On April 6, the Singaporean Mandopop star took to Instagram to share a photograph he snapped with Mars, 38, who performed three concerts, on April 3, 5 and 6, at the National Stadium.

“Music connects, love conquers all,” wrote Lin, 43, who attended the second night of the Bruno Mars Live In Singapore show. He also posted a series of reels on his Instagram Stories of himself enjoying the gig.

Videos of the local singer-songwriter dancing and singing throughout the 110-minute performance were shared by concertgoers on TikTok.

One video captured Lin singing along to Home, the beloved National Day Parade song that was made famous by home-grown singer Kit Chan. The anthem was played by Mars’ keyboardist John Fossitt while Mars was backstage.

Lin also shared his love for the Uptown Funk (2014) singer with Taiwanese-American singer-songwriter Wilber Pan, who thanked Lin for gifting him tickets to Mars’ April 3 show on his Instagram Stories on April 4.

Another Mars fan is local actress Julie Tan, who attended his Singapore tour ticketed afterparty at Marquee Singapore on April 6. On April 7, she shared a reel of Mars rocking out with his crew at the Marina Bay Sands nightclub on her Instagram Stories.
