Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May are back with a show about adventure, excitement and friendship... as long as you accept that the people you call friends are also the ones you find extremely annoying. Sometimes it's even a show about cars. Follow them on their global adventure.
The Grand Tour: Amazon Announces Recording Location for New Series
by Jessica Pena, August 4, 2016
Are you a Top Gear fan? Today, Amazon announced their new series The Grand Tour will be recording in Southern California in front of a live studio audience.
The series will feature former Top Gear hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May traveling the world and recording a show in a new location each week.
The deadline to be part of the studio audience for the Southern California episode is August 8th.
Read more details below:
Today, Amazon has revealed details on how US customers can join Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May for a once-in-a-lifetime experience at a studio recording of The Grand Tour. The guest list for the brand new Amazon Original Series, premiering this fall on Prime Video, opens today, enabling customers to apply for exclusive tickets to the tent recording taking place in Southern California in front of a live studio audience. Amazon.com customers can apply to be in the audience at a studio recording from 9am PT today at http://www.amazon.com/GTGuestlist. All applicants must fill out an entry form to submit their application. Entries are open until midnight on August 8. “We were overwhelmed with the customer response to our first studio tent recording in Johannesburg last month and are excited to announce the next location for The Grand Tour,” said Jay Marine, VP of Amazon Video Europe. “The guest list application for our California recording is open today and for a limited time, so get in quick for the opportunity to be one of the fortunate fans in our first ever studio audience in America. Good luck!” The Grand Tour will launch in fall 2016 exclusively for Amazon Prime members, and will be available via the Amazon Video app for TVs, connected devices including Fire TV, mobile devices and online at Amazon.com/originals. Will The Grand Tour Be Set In Just One Location?
According to the Oxford Times, plans have been put in place for a mobile film studio to be set-up in Great Tew, near Chipping Norton. It has been confirmed that it was put in place by Chump Productions, the production company owned by the trio and Andy Wilman, and the company behind The Grand Tour .
The plans have shown that the site is being held for 13 weeks. And this begs the question – why so long?
During the first season of The Grand Tour, the tent stayed in each location for a much shorter period of time than 13 weeks, which makes us wonder if they are going to be staying in just one location for the entirety of filming the studio segments.
This seems plausible after Jeremy’s health scare shocked us all with its severity and if we look further into the plans, it becomes much more believable.
The plans show that there will be filming once a week over two five-week periods. That makes up for ten episodes of the estimated twelve, and also leaves another two for a double-episode special. So unfortunately for some people, it looks like it fits.
How do you feel about The Grand Tour… not touring? Will you be disappointed if they don’t come to your country? Let me know in the comments below.
Thank you to Sharon Dunsford for bringing this to our attention!
